Finished my buttonhole tutorial video! It's 22 minutes long. Here's a link to the blog post, with a written tutorial for the basic buttonhole (the video has a lot more than that) and source links for all the photos I used in the video, plus a few that I didn't.

Dude I'm obsessed with how you draw expressions 🤩🤩🤩 do you have any tips regarding them? 👉🏼👈🏼
What I think about when drawing expressions:
1. Facial features - You can often show a more intense / expressive look by exaggerating certain features. Observe from photos when drawing them. (Not just humans, you can even use animals!)
2. Angles & poses - Beyond facial expressions, show how the character would angle their head. Body language also plays a role in adding emotions.
3. Lighting - Different lighting angles convey different moods. You could also experiment with how harsh the lighting is. I'll be using anger as an example, but these should apply to drawing any emotion :)

Hello friends, happy 2024! And with that, we begin our lace rot along!
We thought it would be a good idea to start with Armenian needle lace, since it is the style that requires the least amount of supplies it should be convenient to pick up. All you need is a blunt needle and some thick thread (and scissors). It is also an interesting technique to start with because it seems* to share similarities with many of the other lace styles we plan to try (needle lace, netting for lacis, macrame). *(I say "seems" because I never done any of these, but based on tutorials they all look wonderfully interconnected, and I can't wait to find out!)
Here is video 1 of 8 of a beginner tutorial for Armenian needle lace. Let's all work through this tutorial series together and post our progress as we go. Follow along at your own speed, this is a very casual lace along if you haven't already gathered. For those who like to have more of a timeline (me), we are thinking of spending approximately one month on each type of lace, plus or minus a couple weeks depending on how the group feels.

The creator of this tutorial has a ton of other resources too, here's a playlist of all 59 of her lace videos including all videos in the beginner series
Happy lacing!!!!!

That one Calvin Klein ad but make it Lucien Vanserra
I got some new rendering brushes today and I’m really enjoying trying them out! Figuring out my art style is such a journey but I kind of like where this is going so far ☀️

Looking up art tutorials on Youtube is the worst because for every video that has a nice descriptive title like "tips for doing x thing" or "drawing x tutorial" there's a dozen other videos titled shit like "you SUCK at drawing x thing!" and the thumbnail with have "This one mistake is RUINING your LIFE" in big red text and there will be an arrow pointing at some art labelling it "fuckhead idiot drawing made by some dipshit" and then you click on the actual video and it spends two minutes going "boy i sure did struggle to draw before i knew this one tip. drawing was soooo hard. My life would have been sooo much easier if i knew this thing" and then when it gets to the actual tip it's always just some variation on like. "heh. you gotta practice lots 🥴".

The thing that gets me about history and humanity is that you never know what is immortalized, and the things that will be immortalized are things you would never think.
I saw a person sharing a new tattoo, and it was one of Onfim's drawings. A boy who lived so long ago he is barely a blip now, but his drawings meant so much to people that somebody is now permanently marked in their skin with one of those drawings. Do you ever look at the things you make and just sit there and wonder if this is the thing that future people look at? Do you ever look at your art, your writing, your schoolwork, or anything that is yours and just wonder who will find it, who will fall in love with a piece of your humanity and become overwhelmed with emotion over? It's not unlikely. It's not totally unlikely that somebody will find a piece of you in the distant future and devoid of any other context of who you were will still love you because you were here. You were here, and you are still here, even hundreds or thousands of years later. Treat yourself with the same love that so many have for dear Onfim.

No you don't understand. Reigen does not commit tax fraud or insurance fraud. He doesn't actually have psychic powers, not even a little, or empath powers or what you have it. His family are regular ass people with regular ass jobs and frankly, so is Arataka, a young, self-employed guy living pay-check to pay-check because that's what most people starting out self-employed do. He spends most of the day at work and then gets take-out not because he's bringing college-student energy to the table, but because that's what the average single and fresh member of the japanese work force does. Because holding on to friends at that age is hard enough without existential-crisis-induced self-loathing.
It is so, so important to me that Reigen is the most statistically average twenty something japanese man there is. He's literally just a guy. A perfectly average middle schooler who liked to slack off and forgot his lunch that one time and wanted to be someone one day, when he was filled with youthful optimism, before life got complicated, before he realized he was just another fish in a really, really big ocean with a LOT of other fishes. One perfectly average fish among thousands of other, average fishes that become perfectly average members of society.
