Gallagher Girls: Holiday Headcanons

Cammie & Zach:

They start to make their own little traditions over the years.

One of their favourites' is getting in the car after it's dark and driving around to look at all the Christmas lights and decorations.

They like to make up little ratings, pick out their favourite house, the best street, and things like that.

Zach usually drives while Cammie controls the Christmas music and occasionally makes Zach take a few sharp and sudden turns because "Oooooh, that street looks good" and "We have to see that one!"

It's also a pretty good way to exercise some in-vehicle countersurveilance techniques.

Zach grew up without having many traditions in his life—the holidays were never an exception, so he likes that he finally gets to make them with Cam.

His favourite part is seeing Cam light up when they spot THE HOUSE.

Her face is frozen with the kind of joy a 4-year old might have, she's so giddy her smile hangs wide open, and Zach always drives real slow just so it lasts a little longer.

Every hour driving, every aimless turn, every year it's all worth it for that single moment.

To him, it's more magical than all the Christmas lights.

Abby & Townsend:

One year, Townsend comes home to find a tree has appeared in their apartment, boxes that were clearly once in storage have been placed throughout the living room, decorations are scattered across every surface, a few rogue bulbs are rolling around on the floor, and he's pretty sure that what's supposed to be hot chocolate is boiling over on the stove.

It's like a Christmas bomb went off.

And there, in the middle of everything is Abby, playing Christmas music with the volume cranked up as she tries to untangle a never-ending string of lights.

He starts to help, but only after "Abigail, how can you disassemble a bomb, but not untangle a bloody string of lights?" "Are you just going to stand there and ask questions, or actually help me?" "How did you even get the tree in here?" "Just help me!"

She is pretty cute when she's frustrated.

They bicker about how to decorate the tree, what ornaments go where, and how many times a person can listen to "Last Christmas" before going completely insane (Abby's pick, not Townsend's).

After everything's on the tree and Townsend puts the star up, maybe they end up slow dancing to "I'll Be Home For Christmas," just swaying there in the glow of the tree; taking a moment to enjoy their chaotic little Christmas.

And then Wham! comes on again....

Rachel & Joe:

Most years they like to escape to the cabin.

Winter mornings there are some of the most peaceful mornings they know.

Joe makes the coffee while Rachel settles on the couch by the fireplace with a book or newspaper, and somehow everything is so much more quiet with a fresh layer of snow.

Every other year, Rachel pulls out a few old boxes filled with decorations and pictures, and little souvenirs from all the times they had to spend the holidays in some other part of the world.

There's pictures of Cammie's first Christmas, childhood ornaments made out of Popsicle sticks and clay, cards and gifts that hold a fortune in sentimental value.

There's something that manages to touch everything in those boxes—and that's Matt.

He's in the pictures, he's addressed in the cards, he's a memory that lives in every toy and trinket that's home is now in a box.

Once it would have been too painful—to rummage through old memories, but time has a way of healing, and more and more it just feels right—to remember someone who gave so much—loved so much.

Because they both have no doubt, that the best gift was being loved by Matthew Morgan.

And they're just glad they have each other to remember that.

top ten smartest characters in BH6, my ranking:

1- Hiro Hamada. Of course he’s at the top, lol. Not only did he outsmart Obake, he also came up with everyone’s hero gear, coded Baymax’s other chips besides Tadashi’s, made a working energy amplifier (that didn’t immediately explode) in like two days with only Krei’s failed prototype to go off of, and HE IS IN SFIT AT 14. Of course he’s the smartest. Also he’s made other robots completely on his own like the microbots and Mini-Mac. He also comes up with most of the battle plans for BH6, and helped cure Liv Amara alongside Karmi.

2- Obake/ Bob Aken. First off, he was also in SFIT as a teen. My headcanon was that he started attending at 16, and Karmi’s like a week younger than him (so she’s technically still the 2nd youngest person to ever go to SFIT). Also!! He was the FIRST to make an energy amplifier, with absolutely nothing to go off of. His was the first, and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if Krei’s amplifier was based off of Obake’s amplifier. Yes the amplifier exploded immediately but he was still the first. And of course, as an adult, he made a shit ton of advanced tech. He made Trina, the most advanced AI in the whole BH6-verse (even better than Baymax because she’s basically indistinguishable from a human and can make her own decisions outside of her original purpose), he made an underwater base, a bunch of other robots, and was able to follow Shimamoto’s clues to rebuild the star machine. Also he managed to play Hiro and the rest of BH6 like a damn violin and would have succeeded if it wasn’t for Globby.

3- Honey Lemon. Honey Lemon is a goddamn genius and I will die on this hill. Her chem-purse has the INDIVIDUAL ELEMENTS. So in battle, she has to legitimately think up and type in a chemical formula to make the compound to use. So she’s gotta have some MAJOR chemistry skill, an excellent memory, and wicked fast reaction time. She also found a way to cure Globby. Also let’s not forget that time she made a literal amnesia serum in like two minutes for Hiro to give to Karmi when she thought that Karmi was onto them. Also, she did uncover Lenore Shimamoto’s secret life as a scientist alongside Wasabi, and Lenore hid that shit really well.

4- Tadashi. Honestly, Tadashi and Honey Lemon are almost tied for third, but Honey Lemon’s a little smarter. He probably got into SFIT early too, cause he couldn’t have been that old. He was probably in at like 17 and died at 20. Also, he made Baymax, one of the most advanced AIs to ever exist, plus the actual robot is rlly advanced too. So just for building Baymax, he can have this spot, because of how advanced Baymax is. Although running into a burning building was kind of a dumb move.

5- Karmi. Karmi’s actually pretty gifted and you all are unnecessarily hating on this poor girl. She’s 16 and at SFIT, and while my headcanon is that she only got in a week younger than the third youngest student, she’s still the second youngest to ever go to SFIT. She also was able to observe BH6 close enough to write moves that could actually work with their gear, which allowed them to escape Momakase and save Karmi herself. Also, she’s made some epic tech. She made the patches to subdue Oreo Knox, which Di Amara later used for her own evil work. She also did that project with the electric currents in the roses, which probably has some pretty interesting uses. She also got chosen to be Di’s intern, and although she got manipulated big time, I can’t say I blame her or say she’s any less smart for literally being mutated and tortured by a woman she thought was her friend and mentor. Also, Hiro would have never gotten the nanobots to work and cure Liv Amara without Karmi’s help and insight. She also made that glove in Season 3 to beat Hardlight. In short, Karmi is way smarter than the fandom gives her credit for.

6- Gogo. Gogo’s actually quite smart and she’s come up with some interesting things. Her maglev tech is really advanced and gives her an extra edge in battle. She also was the first to catch onto the fact that Karmi had a point with her fanfic and was the first to start using Karmi’s ideas to drive up the wall to chase Momakase. She also came up with that train thing we saw her with the model of in CtC pt 1, which I assume is her midterm project. The world can always use more high-speed rail so she’s quite smart in my book for that. She also of course worked with Hiro to make that awesome bike she chased Mr Sparkles with in S2. Plus she’s in SFIT, which is a really challenging environment on its own so she’d have to be really smart to get in.

7- Wasabi. Wasabi and Gogo are like, exactly tied for 6th. They’re both on the same level of smart, but I like Gogo more so she gets 6ths (no hate to Wasabi fans, I like him too). Wasabi, of course, has his plasma blades, which are literally second to nothing but graphene. He can cut through nearly anything with his tech. He also worked with Hiro to build that space junk disposal device in S1, and helped Honey Lemon uncover the very well-guarded secrets of Lenore Shimamoto’s life as a scientist.

8- Wendy Wower. Wendy, although a minor character, has shown herself to be pretty damn smart. She wrote the thesis that Trevor Trengrove stole, which was the basis for Tadashi’s work. Without Wendy’s thesis, Tadashi would have never made Baymax. So, though she never gained the recognition she deserved for her intelligence, she’s still hella smart. Plus, she did manage to make a name for herself as a beloved educator and inspiration for kids to get into science, and that’s kind of hard to do if you’re not already really smart when it comes to science.

9- Lenore Shimamoto. Lenore Shimamoto is really smart, although her invention failed. She built the star machine, which caused the Great Catastrophe. But, she intended it to be an infinite energy device. So, like a very early interpretation of the energy amplifier. She also built a secret lab and hid all evidence of the star machine so well that it took over a hundred years to find. And honestly, if the only person who could crack your secret was literally the second smartest person in the whole show (Obake), you hid that secret pretty well. She also built and ran a whole art institute, it takes smarts to run such a big university.

10- Professor Granville. Honestly I was stuck on who to put here, but I think she deserves this spot. She’s an accomplished professor, knowledgeable about her subjects, and was obviously smart enough to mentor Hiro, Karmi, and Obake. If she wasn’t smart, they wouldn’t have latched onto her as much as they did. She also fixed Baymax that one time in S2 and went to rescue their asses all on her own, built the robot spider SFIT security system, and has some pretty good deduction skills in order to find out where Momakase was going to steal from next.

You can also put Professor Callaghan here at 10th for similar reasons, being an accomplished professor, writing many papers on robotics and inspiring Hiro’s microbots, and coming up with the plan to kill Krei. But, his plan got foiled by Hiro, and Hiro was an inexperienced superhero at this time, so it’s not like with Obake where Hiro was a seasoned superhero who had a fair shot at stopping his plans. Hiro and Obake were evenly matched. So if Inexperienced Hiro could beat Callaghan, that means Callaghan’s not quite as smart.

@bxrningdragxn and I made some headcanons about Steven’s family possibly celebrating lunar new year bc of course ‘Tis the season after all!!

Steven definitely adheres to the tradition of new clothes every new year :)) he probably doesn’t wear the traditional prosperous colours but definitely leans towards shades of dark blue/forest green for his suit (no grey/black bc bad luck!!) but he does wear a nice red tie/cravat! On a year that he’s feeling extra festive, he wears patterns!

His dad’s side of the family is small, so it’s mostly his mum’s side that come to visit. His mum’s family is definitively less well off so reunion dinner is always held at the Stone mansion.

Steven’s cousin used to be pretty decent but grew up alongside the golden boy with the silver hair so has a chip on his shoulder, he’s always trying to one-up him by showing off his wife and his new glittery watch, or that his child’s in Oxford’s kindergarten programme, the rest of his cousins are just kinda /there/, most are just showing up as an obligation lol and waiting for those big red packets from daddy stone’s pocket

His aunties are no better are is always trying to be nosy like “when are you getting a partner, oh you haven’t taken over Devon yet hmmm, did you lose/gain weight this year” or are boasting abt their kids

Honestly Joseph and Steven hate it but to honour Mum’s memory (named Sharon in my hc) they still have them around every year

Steven’s favourite part is to play with his nieces and nephews because even though they remind him of his youth playing with his cousin before he got obsessed with being better than him

But but his relationship with his cousin improves when he finally gets an s/o because they give the cousin a firm talking to the first time they come round, cos cousin makes a snarky comment abt him and s/o straight up is like “why are you saying such mean things abt him? Are you jealous of him? Lny is about the family gathering again after a long year, he’s travelled a long way to see you and the rest of the family at his dad’s home and he always looks forward to catching up with you, please respect him as much as he respects you” and cousin is like damn… my bad

And yes they eat lots and lots and lots of lny snacks! also Steven matches outfit themes w his s/o once they come into his life :))

Thinking of the implications of Bigshot Crowley

Especially looking forward to S3

In the original book, it was pretty much the whole point that Aziraphale and Crowley were nobody particularly important for their respective sides. Just regular low/middle-ranking field operatives, most of the time invisible drones to their superiors.

In season 1 it is certainly not as pronounced - possibly simply because some things are easier to stress in a written medium - but it isn't contradicted in any way either.

Unsurprisingly, there had always been many headcanons and fanfics that made Aziraphale and Crowley more special in the great scheme of things. I say "Aziraphale and Crowley" but of course, 95% of them focus on Crowley. Since there's more room for speculation and all. The particularly popular fanon is that Crowley was originally an Archangel. Possibly Raphael, but there are other candidates as well.

And now we're after season 2, where pretty big hints were dropped that Crowley was indeed pretty high in the angelic hierarchy before his fall.

How do I feel about it?

I'm not too sure.

I'm still getting used to it being canon. I've always enjoyed the speculations, the theories, and the fanfics. But I also felt that while for some people it was just a "what if", some simply couldn't be satisfied with their protagonists being ordinary. I have some feelings about that.

And what do I think about it?

A lot!

Firstly, if Crowley used to be someone with considerable authority was it his choice to give it up? And if it was, then when exactly did it happen?

Fanons usually point to the Fall as the turning point and it makes sense. It was always implied that Crowley wasn't really invested in Lucipher's rebellion, he just had questions of his own and that's it. So it made sense that after becoming a demon he decided to lie low and not get involved.

But doesn't pre-Fall Crowley seem awfully... alone to you? In the one scene we got he is about to bring his creation to life and the only witness is the randomly (?) passing Aziraphale? If he's someone important, isn't it weird?

I can't help but feel that in Heaven Crowley was already removed from main power structures. Perhaps he simply never saw the appeal and never participated. Perhaps he lost interest along the way. And perhaps he was somehow excluded, possibly without him fully noticing.

But most importantly, what does it mean for his character development? And how it ties to Aziraphale's character development?

Because let me stress it: we had ended season 2 (1) knowing that Crowley used to be in a high position in Heaven and (2) seeing Aziraphale accept a high position in Heaven.

And frankly, it was this realization that made me really want S3 to happen. I mean, I wanted it before simply because I want to see the two finally get properly together and have their happily ever after. But now I'm really curious about where exactly we go from here. Now I'm interested not just in a destination but in an actual journey they're going to take.

It seems pretty obvious that Aziraphale needs to finally free himself from Heaven. Experience the ultimate disillusion.

But what if Crowley's entire job isn't just to wait and graciously accept his angel back when he finally sees reason? It would certainly make for a much better story if he had his own crap to sort out.

My headcanon right now is that Crowley indeed was an Archangel but because he was not into politics - for lack of a better term - he let others call the shots. I think he never fully acknowledged and processed that he had the power to make things better.

And that finale...

Crowley might have wished Aziraphale could just drop everything and go with him like Gabriel and Beelzebub left together. But the point is Gabriel and Beelzebub never cared about Earth, they're selfish and don't give a damn what calamity and bloodshed they leave behind, and too self-righteous to question their choices.

It is a fact that Heaven and Hell can't be left to their own devices.

Aziraphale and Crowley aren't humans who can just quit toxic jobs that are also corporations ruining the planet, move to another country, and make it not their problem. Humans have a chance of living happily and dying before the consequences of their former employers' actions ruin their little paradise.

It's perfectly understandable that Aziraphale doesn't want the responsibility of doing nothing while he could. It's also perfectly obvious that he's being manipulated and way over his head. Especially with Crowley not by his side.

I just want season 3.

It would be also nice if it wasn't just Crowley being right about everything and Aziraphale needing to apologize for his entire existence. But I'll take what I get, I guess.

Multi-Chapter

'Tis the Season (To Be Tea-la-la-lally) by polutropos (Teen And Up, WIP, AU) I'm not one for modern AUs normally, not at all, and I honestly didn't want to read it at the start, but then I did (here on Tumblr) and got sucked in LOL. It's just great, and I love the Holiday Spirit! (I won't tag you here again, as you're tagged in the entire post anyway 😄 brilliant story)

Rising as if Weightless by StarSpray (Gen) The story of Elwing suddenly becoming the big sister/foster mom of her older brothers. This is so tender and beautiful and has so much character growth and so many bitter-sweet reunions, and above all so much depth.

A Pair of Stars by Magicfeather205 (Teen And Up) Pre-historic Elves, and the birth of future kings. That was honestly the most interesting story I read this year, with wonderful and very accurate world-building and a beautiful story (and thank you, author, I now can't get the 'Elwë and Olwë were indeed the first set of twin-boys in that family' out of my head where it fights a raging battle with my own headcanon) Also, I want this fic to be read by every single midwife (and, more importantly, other obstetrician). THAT is how you treat a birthing mom. That's how you handle unforeseen events. I loved this so so so much. It would have felt perfectly natural to have Trixie and Nurse Crane walk in there- sorry about that fandom-mixup)

As Flowers From the Sky by Beleriand Death Trip (E) Fingolfin/Elu Thingol... this is honestly a ship I would never ever have thought of myself, or seen a way in which this could work, but this story DOES work within canon, and beautifully so. It has it all, from very interesting world-building ideas to mild- (and VERY funny) horror-elements, and from foreshadowing and tensions to being wonderfully wholesome. You'll feel better after reading this, I promise!

The Unforsaken by @ceescedasticity (M, WIP) Last but definitely not least. I'll again link the first part of the series in the before-2023-part, and probably say more about it there. But yeah, absolutely a must-read! Go! Go, destroy the Orc-bank! (But don't blow yourselves up!)

Bloodied by ohboromir (Gen) Just a little First-Battle-story. I love to see Elu and Beleg and Mablung together so so so much (who would have thought, ey?).

Unstoppable Winds by LadyBrooke (Teen And Up) The destruction of Númenor as viewed by a few of their ancestors. I really loved this because I have never actually seen a story about the Fall of Númenor written from that POV and it did (or rather does) inspire me quite a lot in my own WIP. (I have to apologise here for not having more, I read so many great one-shots here on Tumblr that I just failed to save in some way. I may add to this list if I find the time to scroll through my timeline and see which of those I reblogged)

Before 2023

elves, once (M) by @ceescedasticity The part one of the series The Unforsaken belongs to as well. And for me the most recommendable story there is (though I would guess most who see this post will know the story already). The name says it all, really, as it is the story of all those canon-characters who ended up as Orcs. This is the sort of fic I really enjoy because it actually gives an answer to a question canon rises. The Orc-bank has since so much passed into my own headcanon that I sometimes forget that it is not actually canon (which leads to very awkward situations sometimes at our monthly discussing-Tolkien-gatherings, I tell you that)

across so wide a sea (Gen, WIP) by Adwen Unfinished, but one of the most hilarious stories I've ever read. I hope so much that author continues writing it one day, but even if they don't, it's a great laugh to read what is written, and ah, the possibilities!

The Carriage held but just Ourselves (Teen and Up) by StarSpray The story of how Melian and her descendants deal with death when they finally come to face it. I don't know when I last cried so much when reading a fic. It's not just that it's so so so sad (because yeah, go kill us all even in the one chapter that should be somewhat 'happy' 😭), but also incredibly beautiful and written perfectly in-character. It's looking into those women's minds. One of my bed-time-stories. (hmpf. All the others are multi-chapters form this year. ah well...)

My own

Yet Were Its Making Good, For This (not rated, but mature:ish; WIP) Ah, my problematic WIP. I wanted that story so so so so so badly written that I forced it, and it cost me MANY nerves. Mablung of Doriath/Elu Thingol. (How is it that nobody ever wrote that ship before?????????????) Works within canon if one squints one's eyes a bit. I'm currently working on the Epilogue ind Valinor, which might, MIGHT, for once give one of my stories a truly happy ending.

Into Oblivion (M) The smut-part of Yet Were Its Making Good, For This. Elwë/Mablung/Beleg. (Well, what do you all think they got up to during the journey?) Doesn't interfere with later canon.

Why, It Asks (Gen) It's a very short read, but one that is super dear to me for some reason. Elmo's thoughts as he stands by and watches his brother's grave being dug.

Moving On-series (Gen) Is this cheating, now? As it's really three one-shots? If it is, pick the last one to read. I'm just so fond of what my imagination spat out there world-building-wise LOL. It's the story of the time Elwë was missing to his and Melian's coronation, as mostly told from Elmo's POV.

Eyes In The Dark (Gen) I just had to put it here, as it's quite sweet to read, but given the hardly-mentioned-in-canon-characters it's hardly read by anyone. Give it a try, though. I bet you like it. Little Denethor is frightened by eyes in the dark, and runs for Lenwë for help. And Lenwë is being just about the best Dad ever.

And now we come to the bit I always dread. I suck at tagging people, because I always forget who enjoys such things and who doesn't, and because everyone's probably been already tagged. So let's do this differently, then- all writers who read this and want to share their recs, please do! (Cheating again, I know)

Matthew -> The only one of the 5 that I think would be an actual Swiftie beyond casually liking some songs. I think he's definitely a 1989 girlie (gender neutral). This is because I think he'd primarily like "dancey" songs - Style, Shake It Off, I Wish You Would, How You Get the Girl, Now That We Don't Talk, Is It Over Now... that vibe. Definitely a big ol' fan of Blank Space, too. I think he'd also really like Reputation (TIWWCHNT, LWYMMD, and I Did Something Bad would be God-tier to him) and Midnights (his relationship with YOYOK would need to be studied.) So yeah. He'd probably like all of her songs, though, from different eras, and listen to them depending on his mood.

Cordelia -> I think that she has a really strong relationship with Don't Blame Me. Like, her #1 most streamed song on every platform. Besides that, she vibes Getaway Car, Delicate, Sparks Fly, I Can See You, Mary's Song (because uh. Her and James), Paper Rings, Cornelia Street, and Lover. You Are In Love as well. She's a fan of The Ballads in all their forms, whether they're poppy or calming.

James -> I feel like he mostly will vibe anything that Cordelia or Matthew are listening to. He's not, like, a Swiftie who listens to them on his own, but he doesn't mind when the others play her music. His favorites would be Dear Reader, Don't Blame Me, You Are In Love, Cold As You (he likes the emotional moping vibes), High Infidelity (again. Emo.), and maybe like, Innocent.

Alastair -> Alastair was unfortunately not born with the Taylor Swift Enjoyer Gene. Alas. Bad things sometimes happen to good people. But he does really like a few of the Folkmore songs, and he puts them on his playlists - he has pretty wide music tastes and listens to select songs from tons of artists, so his playlists are expansive. I think his faves are My Tears Ricochet, Peace, Hoax, Tis the Damn Season, Tolerate It, Ivy, Closure, and It's Time to Go. But he definitely has screamed to WCS more than once too when he's emotional about Charles.

Thomas -> A Fearless girlie (gender neutral) to his core. Every song is a bop or a banger to him. But I think his favorite is Hey Stephen solely because it reminds him of how he felt about Alastair. Also because it's my favourite and I like to self-indulge. Other Fearless faves are Tell Me Why, Forever and Always, Love Story, The Other Side of the Door, and Today Was a Fairytale. His #2 album? Lover. His faves are I Think He Knows, Miss Americana, and the much-underrated INTHAF.

Another funny headcanon is that Cordelia tries to be a Good Ally and defend her loved ones against Homophobic Picture to Burn, but like every queer person ever made Matthew, Alastair, and Thomas think Homophobic Picture to Burn is hilarious and real. They're head-banging to it in the car (Matthew got the aux cord as usual) and she's Shook.

5.) Favorite platonic relationship?

I think personally it comes down to three, but I'll choose Collector and King for now. I just feel like there's this sibling energy that makes me feel warm inside seeing them be around one another in the aftermath before timeskip. I know we don't see as much of Collector as we did of King through the show, but those two definitely have some kind of bond that just hits different for me. Lilith and Hooty are tied though for that. I love both of their dynamic (King & Collector and Lilith & Hooty's)

8.) Any headcanons? If so, which are your favorite?

Oh that's kinda tough because I do have a lot of thoughts but on the spot its hard to list. I'll give a few, perhaps off the top of my head.

Willow can heal Hunter with plant magic

I definitely think the curse in some way that affects Eda and Lilith is connected to The Titan. Harpy forms. Their eyes are like his, not saying that they ARE Titans but there's got to be some adjacent thing. Wtf is with those eyes.

Somehow like Amity's nickname "Mittens" Luz gets coined with the name "Gloves" because she has a habit of misplacing them when it's cold.

Darius's pailsman is his hair goop.

Amity is allergic to human realm cats.

Vee and Masha met at camp when Vee was "Luz" however while at camp Masha suffered with insomnia and would frequent sneak out. Vee however would also find herself in this situation and in that meet up, she'd be the form we see her as in s3 and not in the fake Luz. Her keeping that a secret in a sense that Masha only finds Vee at night when they sneak out, but they can never find her in the daytime because she's imitating Luz. Does that make sense? Idk. Masha knew Vee at camp, not just as Luz. They can't remember correctly because it was dark and sleep deprivation.

I also think there could be a version of a Caleb's diary at the historical society

11.) Any songs from the soundtrack that stick out to you?

The ending theme. Both the timeskip outro and the main ending theme. I have the ep end theme as my ringtone to my phone, but the finale's ending dude... That made me cry. All the feelings.

16.) Common theory that you disagree with?

I don't really have an answer for this. I've thought about this hard, but I think if anything it'd be the whole "TOH needs to be rebooted right now!!" or "Disney should do something with the IP"

I don't think so. I heavily disagree with everything having to do with Disney carrying the brand forward and pray that they don't. I think TOH ended fine, and as much as I'd love for a continuation or spin off-- I do not want it if Dana is not a part of the process. If she and the other lovely creators aren't apart of that process, then I literally do not care. It's Dana or nothing for me. TOH ended in a spot that was fine, and I wish it had a full season, but I don't want anything more from it if Dana isn't on the team. Including the fact that I still do have so many questions for the story. There IS a lot still to be done if she wants it, and I think if anything Disney should just give her the ip (damn laws!!) but if Dana isn't creating it then its meh. It's not TOH.

Rewatching season one of Rottmnt to write a canon compliant fic for Oz - have come away with the headcanon that Hypno has rejection sensitive dysphoria.

Here are all of the notes I’ve taken while watching - most canon and some headcanons supported by canon! I also wrote this at 2 in the morning so bear with me.

There’s a lot so all notes will be under the cut!

Notes: (bonus note: Hypno’s impressed by April figuring out one of his and Warren’s routines and even gives her a pat on the shoulder. He’d be a cool dad, I think)

Warren’s absurdly dramatic, way more than I remembered. He’s also the one that hurls more insults, cares far more about his looks, and has actually kissed himself in the mirror. Needs to be the center of attention - was disheartened and annoyed when the camera panned away from him in Newsworthy, several times. He also has a very interesting manner of speaking (typical New Yorker but definitely the gay theater kid who couldn’t find work as an actor so he became a news anchor - least those are the vibes - probably recites musicals to Hypno and gets super into them), putting a more dramatic flair and bravado to his voice when ‘fighting’ the turtles. Craves power and doesn’t care about who he hurts, doesn’t attempt to avoid pain since he knows he can’t, he’s even hurt Hypno in his debut episode by reflecting his hypnotic powers back at him (this comes back around in WHSIAT). 

Just thought of this one now, the apartment we see him living in totally isn’t the one he originally lived in before his mutation. He lost everything, including the ability to access his bank account. He could afford a nicer place, but that money is tied up where he can’t reach.

This next one kinda pissed me off - they purposely block out his eye color from when he was human, leaving artists and writers alike to guess, a detriment to the 12 people actively making content for him /hj

Very pathetic, but realistically is probably very depressed. Keeps reminding himself of his old life and only really makes efforts at being relevant so he’d get back on TV no matter what. Needs attention to feel validated. 

If I keep thinking about Warren Stone I will make myself sad. Moving on. 

-Hypno is a bit more cockney than I remembered. Rhys really leans into the accent. 

-Hypno holds people to their promises, expects that promises will be made good on, makes good on his own (no betrayals). 

-He’s also kinda easy to trick which is ironic. 

-Hates pain of all kinds and avoids it if he can (we see this after Hypno! Part Deux - in ‘Stuck On You’ he says “don’t come any closer!” “that’s close enough!” as he backed away from the turtles, and “not again” right before getting punched through another wall) tries to do the same for others by avoiding putting them through pain (he mostly runs away or puts people in magic traps / hypnotizes them if he can, the rings and physical fights being a last resort in every occurance other than his debut) (especially avoids inflicting pain if he cares about the person a lot - felt terrible about having to betray and hypnotize Warren so his roomie would be allowed to live - which ended in a second betrayal by Draxum). 

-Damn, this man is kinda bad at being evil. 

-Hypno likes pet names, and I mean the endearing affectionate partner kind. In WHSIAT, he calls Warren “my Warren '' which is heart meltingly sweet. He also calls him: roomie, best friend, golden voiced amigo, pal, magical assistant, and more! 

-(Headcanon based on canon evidence) Hypno’s guarded when it comes to his emotions - specifically in terms of romance. The guy’s been tricked before as seen in Newsworthy, a trick that really hurts. Most likely took him a long time to warm up to the thought of Warren being a romantic partner since he feared rejection. 

personal headcanon, both he and Warren have Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria - but Hypno has it worse 

-Hypno cares about Doug - his previous hippo assistant - to the point that he’d raise him from the dead. (Oh look, a normal note)

-These are all just about Hypno now, with some headcanons supported by canon in there too-

dramatic in the flashy and showy performance way, seems less over the top than Warren

not above necromancy, then again, before Warren it seems like Doug was his only friend so that could be why

Would most likely come to blows with anyone that dyes animals different colors for events. He loves his pets/magical assistants and to see someone so flagrantly disregard the life of an animal for entertainment would piss him off.

hopeless romantic, and not just ‘cause of the hormones used in Newsworthy - (the whole ‘they pulled the fake Jenny on me’ line seals the deal - he’s most likely been set up on blind dates that have gone nowhere/ editing to add catfished and straight up made fun of. This is one lonely man and that’s terrible) 

This next one’s strangely canon and weird - interesting doubled voice effect when he hypnotizes people but it only shows up twice (Newsworthy and Stuck On You), like the writing team wasn’t sure about it

Warren is his first major relationship and he fell super hard. It’s very obvious - this man is ultra protective of his worm roommate and would go through hell for him. He has gone through hell for him (not in the Orpheus way but he would do that too). Can’t stand being without him, super affectionate, the pet names and little comments, searching for Warren the second they get him back and giving him smooches, how he feels awful for being a bad roomie and knows that Warren notices his lack of effort around the house but doesn’t say anything, and the sweet gesture of baking Warren a birthday cake and jumping out of it to be extra dazzling proves that he’s investing a lot into this relationship. Even April points out how in love Hypno is with Warren by the end of the episode, saying that Warren’s life matters more to some people (looking directly at Hypno as he looks lovingly at his ‘roommate’ - hahaha it’s fruit city up in here) than some piece of armor.

in between seasons, wendys^2 builds a new city with the survivors. not all the meat monsters die, but they learn to adapt. also at some point we decided it’d be funny if the meat monsters were actually tbh creatures.

6. Death predictions for season 5?

Hmm, it really depends on the tone they want to go through with the final season. If it's super bleak and lots of people die, I could see Will and/or Eleven dying in some kind of way that ties to closing the Upside Down and sealing that original rupture. If Eleven dies, I think Hopper will probably die as well, but I also think if there's only one major character death in the show it would just be Hopper in some kind of huge display of paternal military action. I do think Steve could have a really impactful death, but unfortunately I think it's more likely he and Nancy will end up together in a terrible epilogue where he's a cop and she's raising their kids :/

19. Favorite minor character?

Damn, it's REALLY hard to choose but for now I'm gonna say Scott Clarke! I've talked a lot about some of my favorite things about him on my tik tok, starting here, but the gist of it is that I think he has SUCH potential as a side character to puzzle out what's going on in the main narrative and get involved on his own or teamed up with someone (my favorite pairing is with Karen, the Steve+Dustin 2.0 vibes are off the charts). I also really love my friend's headcanon that he was shortlisted for the Challenger teacher's program, which would track with his canon interests in space stuff. And he's also just one of my favorite tertiary characters to hc as queer, he just seems like a great funky bisexual guy and I love that for him.
