What is a High Raw Vegan?
Whether you’re new to plant-based eating or just looking for some new ideas, being a high raw vegan can be quite challenging at first. The idea of eating only raw, whole, organic foods might seem restrictive at first and seem as if it would make meal preparation difficult. However, once you get used to it, it becomes easier every day. This lifestyle is not as restrictive as it seems. In fact, it can be very rewarding once you get used to the changes and learn how to balance your diet accordingly. Plus, there are so many benefits you’ll receive from adopting this way of eating. From better health and weight management to increased energy and a feeling of clarity and peace in your life, embracing high raw veganism is well worth the effort!
A raw vegan is someone who primarily consumes raw foods. Raw vegetarians eat a diet where raw food is the primary ingredient,Raw vegans typically eat a diet consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts. Raw vegans avoid all foods that have been heated above 115°F (46°C), including pasteurization, cooking, canning, freezing, or heating in a microwave oven. Raw vegetarians do not fry food or use cooking oils, margarine, or butter. Both raw vegans and raw vegetarians limit the use of salt, sugar and other common additives. But in the high raw vegan diet, some foods can be cooked with a mild temperature.
There are many benefits of going high raw vegan diet. Some people believe that a raw vegan diet is healthier than a cooked vegan diet, For example, a high raw vegan diet can help to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. Furthermore, a high raw vegan diet can help to improve your energy levels. In addition, a high raw vegan diet can help to improve your mood and mental clarity.
For example, it is easier to maintain a high raw vegan diet if you are eating mostly fruits and vegetables. It is also easier to maintain a high raw vegan diet if you are eating small amounts of protein at each meal.
Following a high raw vegan diet is easier than %100 raw vegan because some foods such as rice and beans can be cooked and served at low temperatures. Also, some foods that are produced with low heat are also allowed in this diet.
Raw vegan diets are all about eating food that only includes raw ingredients, but what about the rest of it? The raw vegan lifestyle is about eating healthy and organic foods but it’s also about how you prepare them and how you consume them. Raw vegan diets require a bit more effort in the kitchen than other diets, but the extra work is well worth it. Raw vegan diets are nutrient-rich and not only taste great but are also very healthy and beneficial to your body. If you want to follow a raw vegan diet, there are some things you should keep in mind.
– First and foremost, be prepared to go to the grocery store every week. If raw vegan diets are all about fresh organic produce, you’ll need to make a weekly trip to the supermarket.
– Next, you’ll need to be well-versed in the raw vegan diet. Raw vegan diets are based on eating fresh organic fruits and vegetables, so it’s important to know what they are and how to prepare them.
– High raw vegan diets require planning. You need to choose which raw vegan recipes you want to prepare for the week, buy the ingredients for them, and have them ready for your next meal.
– You’ll also need to prepare a healthy, balanced meal for the rest of your family. This can be challenging for some families, but it’s important to do it so your loved ones have healthy food options too.
Being vegan is not just a diet but a lifestyle When you follow a vegan diet, you will avoid consuming any food products made from animals and animal derivatives. Vegans do not consume meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, honey, and gelatin, and instead consume nuts, seeds, beans, and grains. The raw food style of vegans is similar to vegans, but those who follow the raw vegan or high raw vegan diet eat their food completely uncooked or only heat it at a temperature of 40 to 48 degrees Celsius.
The raw vegan diet has less sodium and processed foods are completely eliminated in this diet Meals for a raw vegan diet are often prepared by juicing, fermenting, sprouting, steaming, blending. But a vegan can cook his food however he wants and eat processed foods as well.
People who follow a raw vegan diet believe that all the nutrients needed by humans can be found by consuming raw foods and do not need food supplements.

The Best And Brightest Nutrition Tips And Tricks
Many times older people who live alone are not get the right nutrition. Choosing convenience over health often means you are not getting the vitamins and protein your body really needs. This article provides some valuable tips to help you fix your diet while avoiding the need to cook large meals.
Replace refined white breads and pastas with whole-grain options. Whole wheat and grains provide more fiber and protein than refined white alternatives. Whole grains foods will keep you longer and will aid in improving your levels of cholesterol. Make sure that the first word in the ingredients list is "whole".
Pregnant and nursing women need to focus on nutrition. One way to ensure those protein needs are achieved is to combine egg whites in with a morning smoothie. Egg whites are extremely low in cholesterol and contain a good amount of protein that can help pregnant women! You should choose pasteurized eggs if you don't get salmonella.
Eat foods of colors. Fruits and vegetables that are very brightly colored give you lots of health benefits without having lots of calories.Every meal that you eat should contain a bright colorful fruit or vegetable at least. If the skins are edible, eat that as well, since many of the antioxidant benefits are in the skins.
Most fast foods are pretty salty. If you reduce the amount of salt you eat, you might increase your awareness of the salty taste. Foods that are not healthy choices may suddenly seem too salty. You will find that you don't want to eat them as often.
A single stalk of broccolo contains an entire day's worth of Vitamin K/ It also has Vitamin C levels that are around two days. These nutrients are important in building strong bones and it could possibly reduce the risks of getting cancer. In order to retain broccoli's nutritional content, steam the broccoli instead of boiling it or cooking it in a microwave.
Some people have a difficult time maintaining proper nutrition and dieting at the same time. The more you choose healthy foods, they become the gold standard in your life. You can then start eating for the sake of good nutrition in mind and not just because you want to feel better emotionally.
Try to avoid grains for a little while. Traditionally, humans have tended to live on a diet of fruits, fruits, meat, beans and nuts. Grains are a new invention and have not been around for a short period of time. You could feel better not eating grains at all.
This grain has 14 percent protein by weight. You can use Quinoa in many dishes using Quinoa.
Vegetables make a great calorie-light addition to any diet, low-calorie food choices, whether fresh, or from the freezer. These vegetables nourish your body with filling vitamins and nutrients it needs as well as giving you that full feeling which will make you less likely to snack throughout the day.Try to consume multiple servings daily, or add them to a healthy salad.
Having these recipes readily available can help you not go down the fast and unhealthy route for dinner.Having a good variety in your meal choices prevents you from becoming bored with your diet.
Diabetics must exercise caution around alcohol can lower blood sugar levels.
Pantothenic acid is a B Vitamin that is very important. This is essential in a necessary tool for metabolic process known as Tricarboxylic acid cycle. It also necessary for enzyme activity and the creation of many compounds of biological importance. Whole grains are great sources of this vitamin.
Sweet potatoes give you starchy comfort food with too many carbohydrates. You can make mashed potatoes. Serve with butter and a little sugar or butter. They have the added benefit of having anti-inflammatory qualities, anti-inflammatory qualities.
Don't forget to include meat in your meat.Your muscles need protein in order to grow and meat is one of the primary sources for optimal growth. It is recommended to consumer ten ounces of meat a day.
Do not abuse cheat days in your schedule.
A balanced diet should include both cooked and raw or uncooked dishes. It is best to increase your uncooked food intake to about 1/3 of your meals. This will help you ensure that you're getting plenty of your food intake is at full nutritional capacity. Eating more fruits and vegetables can help.
Corn, beans and chicken can be a simple, and chicken can make up an entire meal. This meal is great for you because it is packed with amino acids that are critical to good health. It is missing certain vitamins, but it is a meal that supports a human physique well enough for one meal. The food pyramids developed for nutritional guides are actually very old, and even though they still have some value, they do not incorporate many new discoveries in nutrition.
When deciding which foods to eat in order to improve your nutrition, consider that raw foods usually are more nutritious than anything cooked or processed. This is because cooking and processing take a lot of nutrients in food. This is especially the case for vegetables and veggies.
As stated at the beginning of this article, it can be hard for elderly seniors living on their own to get the proper nutrition that they need. However, it is possible to get the right nutrients from a small meal that isn't too difficult to prepare. Use this advice to get the right nutrition for your body. https://www.healthynutritiondiet.net/sleeping-better-for-a-healthier-heart/

This is one of my favorite recipes. There's a little story behind it. I was always the kid who could taste whatever was being cooked or whatever I was cooking. I could always swipe a raw cookie (yes a whole cookie) off the baking pan and eat it without getting sick. I remember my Lola (Grandmother on my Mom's side) telling me that not everyone is capable of doing these things. Also, she used to caution me around the holidays to always be hospitable; but, if you're offering food to guests be certain to take the time to make it fresh even if there's an entire bowl or plate on the table the family is taking food to eat. She told me most people have weaker stomachs and will make themselves sick if you tell them so just to prove you wrong. She couldn't explain why some people got sick and others didn't but she could tell who would by eating what food. She was a great seamstress and an exceptional cook. She was a kind person and I miss her.
I can tell you why people get sick from eating certain things. Raw cookie dough for example has eggs and uncooked flour in it. By eating it, you risk bacterial infection from things like salmonella or e coli. Bacteria die on contact with heat. The recommended temperature is 160 degrees Fahrenheit or 71 degrees Celsius.
This is my edible cookie dough recipe. It contains no eggs. It uses heat treated or pasteurized flour. As long as you follow directions, it will be safe to enjoy. Seriously, do not skip the section labled "Flour Options". It's not worth risking your health.
Edible Cookie Dough
5 TBSP heat treated flour (see flour options)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 TBSP milk
1 TBSP butter
1 TBSP cream cheese
Dash of salt
1/4 TSP vanilla extract
Chocolate Chips (Note: If you want a different flavor, you can substitute mini marshmallows or 2-3 TBSP peanut butter or Nutella for example)
Flour Options: (do NOT skip)
Microwave Method:
Spread flour in a thin layer on a plate or in microwave safe container
Microwave 20 seconds at a time for 1 minute 20 seconds total
Stir every 20 seconds, preferably with a thermometer so you can make sure the temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit or 71 degrees Celsius
Allow to cool before using
Oven Method:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Spread flour in a thin layer on a cookie sheet
Bake flour for 5 minutes
Allow to cool before using
Yes you can buy it instead:
Honeyville.com
Pagehouse heat treated flour
5 lb bag
$8.99 + $4.99 shipping
or (if you're not allergic to nuts)
Anthony's gluten free almond flour
2 lb bag
$16.99 (I don't have shipping. I'm a Prime member.)
On Amazon.com
It's steam pasteurized
Directions:
Combine wet ingredients
Mix well
Cream in brown sugar
Combine flour and chocolate chips
Add to mixture
Mix well until you form a dough
Place dough into container with lid and chill
Enjoy
This is a small one person batch. It's very simple. It can be doubled, tripled, quadrupled, etc to suit your needs.
Additional ideas: Take care of the flour ahead of time. Pre-measure your ingredients for each child. It's a fun project you can do on a rainy afternoon.

the war that only lasted a week
pairing: yoongi/seokjin
word count: 1,427 words
summary: By this point, Seokjin didn’t even know what they were fighting about.
a/n: this was also writing practice from a prompt I found here on tumblr. (“if you want to get to the coffee pot, kiss me and end the war”). I posted this on my ao3 and wasn’t gonna post her here but i figure what the hell. it’s a little lame and rushed but i thought it was kinda cute. I have a few other pieces I’ve done for practice that idk if I’ll post but for now i think i’ll leave it at this.
By this point, Seokjin didn’t even know what they were fighting about. It had been a week of tiptoeing around each other and Seokjin was sick of it. It all started out of the blue and Seokjin has wracked his brain to think what it was that set Yoongi off.
It started when they met up at their date night restaurant and out of nowhere Yoongi started brooding and wouldn’t look at Seokjin in the eye. They ate in the most uncomfortable silence that evening and he’s sure the waitress and people around noticed the weird aura at their table. Who goes out to dinner and eats in awkward silence the whole time, after all. Seokjin had tried to get to what was bothering Yoongi but after a while gave up and asked for a box, having lost his appetite.
The drive home was just as awkward but by that point Seokjin was peeved with Yoongi for embarrassing him at the restaurant and was giving Yoongi the silent treatment back. Yoongi was being a brat and normally Seokjin would let it slide but he usually knew what Yoongi was upset about and would understand what was going on.
Yoongi stomped back up to their apartment, making a point to try and close the elevator doors before Seokjin had a chance to get on. Seokjin had caught the doors before they closed so Yoongi just glared at him and continued to ignore him.
The rest of the week their apartment was like a warzone of petty gestures and continued silent treatments.
Seokjin ate all of Yoongi’s favorite protein bars because Yoongi had dropped Seokjin’s hairbrush into the toilet. Yoongi hid Seokjin’s favorite scarf so Seokjin flushed the rest of the tube of Yoongi’s special sensitivity toothpaste. It went on like that. Seokjin stole the laces off of all of Yoongi’s shoes and Yoongi took out a few bolts out of Seokjin’s desk chair. Yoongi blended together raw eggs to replace Seokjin’s morning orange juice so Seokjin replaced Yoongi’s coffee grounds with ground up dirt and as an extra feature, changed the sugar and salt just to make his morning coffee extra bitter.
At first Seokjin made the effort to try and get Yoongi to talk to him but as the pranks kept getting more and more out of hand, Seokjin’s ugly competitive side started to poke through and he upped his game to match Yoongi’s.
Oddly enough, they still slept in the same bed every night. Both with their backs to each other but both refusing to take the couch. More than one morning did Seokjin wake up to Yoongi clinging to him, probably for warmth.
One morning Seokjin woke up half an hour before their alarm went off. Yoongi had turned back to face Seokjin in his sleep and Seokjin realized how much he missed him.mIt was the first time he had properly taken a look at his boyfriend’s face in a week and Seokjin just missed him. It had been a week of petty pranks and scowls and eyerolls and Seokjin had had enough. He missed his Yoongi and looking at his boyfriend’s sleeping face Seokjin decides this ridiculous battle between them needed to come to a truce.
Yoongi was a creature of spite and held onto his pride like his life depended on it. It was kind of annoying in instances like this where Yoongi refused to budge but Seokjin knew Yoongi was worth putting his pride aside and taking the first step in ending their fight. So he got out of bed.
Seokjin busied himself in the kitchen. He had stopped making Yoongi food after day 2 of their little silent war so he figured the best way to call the truce was with Yoongi’s favorite breakfast as a peace offering.
Seokjin heard their alarm go off in their bedroom but knew he still had at least 15 minutes before Yoongi manages to wake up and drag his ass out of bed. He placed the table settings and he hoped when Yoongi came in he would finally give in.
Footsteps heading towards the kitchen told Seokjin that Yoongi was on his way to get his morning coffee. Seokjin already had it brewing (real coffee this time) so he hoped that warmed Yoongi up a bit.
Yoongi looked a little surprised by everything. He was probably still a little sleepy so Seokjin prepared himself for extra grumpiness. Yoongi glared at the table placement but Seokjin swore he had seen Yoongi soften up after a moment. He hoped Yoongi would sit down and they’d be able to act like everything was normal and move on, but just like that Yoongi moved away. Seokjin was far too sick of this silent battle to just give up without a proper fight so instead lunged forward and blocked Yoongi's path to the coffee maker.
The scowl on Yoongi’s face would be enough to scare off anyone else but Seokjin knew that Yoongi wasn’t nearly as terrifying as he seemed to be. So he stood his ground. Only the slight pout that Yoongi’s lips naturally formed just reminded him how much he missed kissing them.
“If you want to get to the coffee pot, then kiss me and end this stupid war,” he said with far more determination than he meant. Seokjin knew there was a high risk of Yoongi just turning on his heel and walking out but he had to try.
Yoongi did consider just leaving, but really, he had let this whole thing go on far too long. It should have never gotten to this point and Yoongi has felt guilty for letting this go on for so long so he pushes himself up on his tiptoes, wraps his hand around the base of Seokjin’s neck and kisses hI'm square on the lips.
Yoongi intended it to be a quick kiss but no sooner did Seokjin wrapped his arms around Yoongi’s waist and pull him in deeper. Fuck . It had been far too long since they had kissed and Yoongi found himself angling his head and pushing deeper into the kiss.
He’s not sure how long they stood there just making out in their kitchen but when Seokjin finally pulled away Yoongi felt that ever familiar empty sensation when Seokjin stopped kissing him. He wondered how he went by so long without kissing him, it seemed like an impossible feat now that he's had a taste of them again.
“So are we okay now?” There was a horrible insecure sound to Seokjin’s voice that Yoongi hates hearing, especially since this was his fault for blowing things so out of proportion. He knew he had to get better at communicating but he thanked every star that his boyfriend was so understanding of his ridiculous feelings.
“I’m sorry,” Yoongi struggled to figure out what else to add but Seokjin cut him off with another quick kiss. When he pulled back again there was a smile that Yoongi also didn’t realize how much he missed seeing.
After they finished eating (Seokjin insisting they hold hands the entire time) Seokjin finally asks. “So, what was this fight even about? I still don’t know what we were fighting about all this time."
Yoongi looked down at his plate, still embarrassed he had made such a big deal of things. “What set me off was when you flirted with that waitress when we went out to dinner,” Yoongi half mumbled while pushing his leftovers around his plate, avoiding Seokjin’s gaze.
“You were jealous,” Seokjin says matter of factly and Yoongi purses his lips. It was honestly a dumb thing to get so upset about since Yoongi knew Seokjin was in love with him  so he was embarrassed to confess that’s why he got upset but, yeah, he had gotten really jealous.
“I’m sorry,” Seokjin said. Yoongi knew he had nothing really to be sorry about and was about to stop him but Seokjin beat him by adding “I shouldn’t have flirted with her. Especially not in front of you. You know that meant nothing to me but it inconsiderate to blatantly flirt with her right under your nose. You’re the most important person in the world to me and I promise I’ll never make you feel any less than that ever again.”
Yoongi doesn’t know what to say so he kisses Seokjin. He kisses him hard and deep. He’s not sure what on earth he did to deserve such an amazing and understanding boyfriend but Yoongi just loves his amazing boyfriend.

31 weeks of pregnancy
Tumblr media
You are about to complete your 31 week pregnancy adventure. But we know that you have sweet but painful days, we cannot finish by counting what you have experienced. After all, the inside of us burned you inside! So what happens during a 31-week pregnancy? What is the 31-week baby development? Let's start without extending the word!
31 Weeks Pregnancy and Baby Development
31 Weeks Baby Weight and Length How old should the 31-week-old baby be? You can see information such as how many cm in height, from our table below. 31 week old baby development31 week old baby weight1500-1600 gr31 weeks old baby height40-45 cm In 31 weeks of pregnancy, baby weight increases gradually. The baby takes an average of 1300-2300 grams until the birth. In the 31st week of pregnancy, the reproductive system continues its development. If the baby is a boy, the testicles leave their places next to the kidney and move to the side of their testicles through the groin. If she is a girl, her clit becomes more prominent.Although her baby's lungs are well developed, she is not yet fully mature. Babies born at 31 weeks may need to stay in the tub for 6 or more weeks. They need a breathing apparatus to breathe. As the brain development matures more than a few weeks ago, the risk of bleeding is less. Now he has begun to process incoming information, follow the light and perceive signals from all five senses.Your baby now sleeps longer and REM sleep. You can probably more clearly distinguish between your baby's awake and dormant periods. What to Eat for Weight Loss and Development of the Baby During Pregnancy? How Many Months Is 31-Week Pregnancy? A 31-week pregnant woman is about to complete her 7th month. But remember, no matter how many months, not how many weeks pregnant, it is important. 31 Week Baby View
Tumblr media
31 Week Baby View 31 Week Baby Movements All expectant mothers recognize the movement of their babies. They notice changes in the frequency and intensity of movements. In 31 weeks of pregnancy, baby movements may decrease . This inactivity may increase later in pregnancy. Especially after the baby's head fell on the pelvis, there is not much to move around in the womb. In addition, as pregnancy progresses, babies maintain movement and sleep patterns. So you may notice that there are periods of increasing or decreasing mobility between 1-3 hours. A decrease in fetal movements in the 31st week of pregnancy may indicate umbilical cord or placental problems. If you are worried that your baby's movements are decreasing, definitely share this with your doctor. He may ask you when he felt the last move and how many times he felt in the past few hours. It will be the healthiest to make these measurements and contact your doctor. 31 Week Pregnancy Ultrasound Images
Tumblr media
31 Week Pregnancy Ultrasound Images The 31-week-old baby ultrasound image taken by his doctor may differ from this one. This should not worry you. So have you thought about hiding your baby's cord blood? The cord and texture of the cord are the greatest treasure of existence for the child, and so precious that throwing it away may be a great loss for tomorrow. Our baby is our most precious; Is it not worth destroying and protecting the risk as much as we can for our most precious? We think it's worth!
Changes in the Mother During the 31-Week Pregnancy
31-Week Pregnancy Image
Tumblr media
31-Week Pregnancy Image With the 31-week pregnancy, the uterus now covers most of the abdomen. When measured from the pubic symphysis, the length of the uterus from its peak is 31 cm, and its distance from the navel is about 11 cm.In order for your body not to hold water and to feel better, you should take care to lie down while sleeping or resting.Wearing a ring or watch can cause circulation problems. Sometimes a ring can squeeze a finger too tightly and it may not come out. If swelling occurs, you can stop using jewelry and accessories that will disturb you during this period. What should be the 31-week pregnancy weight? In the third trimester, you should be careful to gain a total of 5-6 kilos. Increased weight makes pregnancy and delivery difficult. Postpartum slimming efforts are also! How many kilos should be gained in 31 weeks of pregnancy? Our answer to the problem is to get 500-600 gr.
31 Weeks Twin Pregnancy
The biggest problems with multiple pregnancies are preterm births. As the number of fetus increases, the duration of the gestational week and the birth weight of each baby decrease. However, this does not apply to every case. The average pregnancy time for twins is about 37 weeks. For triplets, it is almost 35 weeks. With the maturation of organs and systems every week when babies stay in the womb, their birth weight also increases. The goal in multiple pregnancies is to continue pregnancy as much as possible to avoid premature birth. The best way to do this is bed rest. It is not possible to continue regular activities during the whole pregnancy. It may be necessary to follow the doctor's bed rest advice. Some researchers believe that the drugs used to cut pangs are very important in preventing premature birth. These drugs are used to relieve the uterus, so that preterm labor does not start.Strictly follow what your doctor says. Every day and every week you can carry babies means that they become more mature and complete their development.
Nutrition During 31 Week Pregnancy
How To Be A Nutrition List During Pregnancy? Salmonella bacteria can cause mild or serious stomach discomfort. This bacterium has many sources. It is found in raw eggs and raw poultry. Bacteria are damaged when food is cooked, but additional measures are required. Keep the following points in mind to ensure your safety. After preparing poultry or raw egg products, clean the countertop, kitchenware, dishes and pans with hot water and soap and use disinfectant.Cooking poultry thoroughly. Not eating products made with raw eggs. Not tasting anything containing raw eggs before cooking.Cooking eggs thoroughly when eaten. Boil the eggs for at least 7 minutes. Not to eat eggs broken into a pan and cooked on one side.
Complaints in the mother during 31 weeks of pregnancy
Swelling in the 31-Week Pregnancy Especially as you get closer to the end of your pregnancy, you realize that when you take off your shoes and stand for a while, you can not wear it again later. This problem is about swelling as you guessed. Since you will have to deal with the problem of swelling for a while, it may be best not to prefer tight, tight socks, shoes, clothes. If you are wondering why swelling can be explained briefly: The body produces 50% more blood and body fluid to meet the baby's needs during pregnancy. Some of these extra fluids seep into body tissues. When the growing uterus begins to push the pelvic vessels, blood flow in the lower part of the body is partially blocked. This pushes the liquid into the feet and legs and causes swelling. Also, crossing legs while sitting also affects circulation and prevents blood flow to the legs. Take care to sit with your legs out as far as possible and stay still for a long time. Is there a regular doctor visit? Of course, we do not need to tell you how important it is to go to all prenatal appointments with your doctor, but we still wanted to remind you. It may sound like nothing happens to you during these examinations, especially if everything is normal and going well. But the observations in these examinations mean a lot to your doctor about the condition of you and your baby. During these examinations, the doctor checks the symptoms that indicate a problem may be. For example; such as a change in blood pressure, a change in weight or an underdevelopment of the baby. If these problems are not discovered early, they can cause serious problems for both of you. Baby Sitter Wanted! After your baby is born, if you are thinking of getting help from a caregiver, you can start researching now. First of all, you need to determine how demands are on baby care. It is also important whether you can agree with this person! For this reason, meeting and establishing a candidate caregiver before you need it can help you make a more suitable choice. Better start thinking about it now! What About Decorating Your Birth Room? You have completed 31 weeks in pregnancy. You have 2 months left before you, and then you will take your baby on your lap. We got used to seeing baby rooms decorated. Mothers and babies who go to beautiful rooms after birth host their visitors in these rooms. Cranberry Juice for Kidney Stones: Why It Works
Tumblr media
When Romie B’s husband Joey got kidney stones for the second time, she recognized the symptoms right away. "It hit him hard: severe pain, chills, vomiting, and of course, trouble urinating," says Romie, who lives in Akron, Ohio. "The doctor said to drink a lot of water and cranberry juice for kidney stones until they pass."
Romie herself had kidney stones in the past. She knew that before the stones pass, they can be painful — maybe the most uncomfortable thing most people feel in their lifetime, barring childbirth.
"Hopefully, as much as it hurts for Joey to pass the stones, he passes them sooner rather than later. I’m making sure he is drinking cranberry juice." So what does cranberry do that helps with kidney stones? Read on to learn more.
What Are Kidney Stones?
Kidney stones are deposits — sometimes called calculi — that form in one or both of your kidneys.[1]Kidney stones are usually hard and develop when your urine becomes supersaturated with insoluble salts and minerals, like calcium, oxalate, or phosphate. They range from the size of sand grains to golf ball-sized stones. A kidney stone’s texture can be smooth or jagged.[1]
In the United States, one out of 11 people will get kidney stones at some point in their life.[2] About 5 to 10 percent of the population is genetically predisposed to develop them.
Usually, small kidney stones can pass through the urinary tract on their own. Larger stones, however, can get stuck and create issues, such as blocking urine flow from your kidney to your bladder — and causing extreme discomfort.[1]
How Cranberries Can Help Kidney Stones
Cranberries are a tart, red fruit that many people associate with Thanksgiving dinner. Although you’re used to seeing them in a sauce on the table during the holidays, cranberries have a long history in North America.[3, 4]
Native Americans used cranberry fruits and leaves for bladder, stomach, and other ailments.[4] Even today, cranberry juice is a well-known natural herbal remedy for urinary tract infections and other renal system conditions, including kidney stones.[5]
Cranberry Juice for Kidney Stones
The same phytonutrients in cranberries that keep harmful microorganisms from adhering to the urethra lining (thus promoting normal urinary tract health) also prevent kidney-forming crystals and stone-promoting harmful organisms from sticking to kidney cells.[6] If they don’t stick together, they don’t form stones, and can more easily and painlessly get purged from your system in urine.
Cranberries also positively affect the chemical composition of your urine, including pH, volume, and calcium excretion.[5, 7] Overall, they help with the issues that can lead to kidney formation.
When a group of men took 500 mL of cranberry juice diluted with 1,500 mL of water for two weeks, their urine changed for the better.[5] These men excreted less oxalate and phosphate in their urine, reducing their risk of developing kidney stones. Oxalate and phosphate are two of the compounds that can form kidney stones, so you don’t want high levels in your body.
Beyond that, the men's' excretion of citrate also rose — another indicator that their kidneys were working well and not forming stones. When urine has higher levels of citrate and a higher pH, you’re less likely to develop kidney stones.[5]
Favorite Ways to Use Cranberries
Cranberries are versatile. You can use them in both food and drinks. However, they’re tart, so it’s hard to eat them fresh or on their own. I recommend using raw honey, organic maple syrup, or monk fruit to sweeten recipes that include cranberries.
Cranberry Tea
This lovely, tart tea is a great pick-me-up in the morning or anytime during the day!
Equipment
Saucepan
Teacup
Ingredients
1 12-ounce bag of fresh cranberries
2 cups of water
2 cinnamon sticks
Raw honey to taste
Directions
Rinse fresh cranberries in cold water.
Add all the cranberries and cinnamon sticks to a saucepan with 2 cups of purified water.
Cook the cranberries on medium heat until they are soft and pop open.
Remove the cranberries from the stove and strain the liquid from them into a bowl.
Use the strained liquid to make tea and add raw honey to taste.
Year-Round Cranberry Sauce
Instead of buying canned cranberry sauce that’s filled with preservatives and loaded with sugar, try this simple, homemade recipe instead!
Equipment
Zester
Saucepan
Wooden spoon
Ingredients
1 12-ounce bag of fresh cranberries
¾ cup of water
2 teaspoons of orange zest
½ cup of monk fruit
Directions
Rinse fresh cranberries in cold purified water.
Zest the rind of an orange to get two teaspoons worth.
Add the water, cranberries, orange zest, and monk fruit to a saucepan.
Bring the water to a boil.
Lower the heat, so the pot simmers for 10 to 15 minutes. Stir occasionally with a wooden spoon.
Make sure all the cranberries have popped and are soft before removing from the heat.
Remove from the stove and allow the sauce to cool. Serve.

When looking for support for urinary tract health, a good option is to combine cranberry with other herbs. What Else Can Help Kidney Stones?
Are you wondering what else you can do to help your kidneys? If you have a history of developing kidney stones, or you are concerned about developing them, below are some other suggestions to keep them at bay.
Drink plenty of fluids. By drinking plenty of fluids, you’ll increase urine production and help move minerals out of your body. Drinking more purified water is rule number one for kidney stone prevention. Although water is best, you can also drink citrus beverages like orange juice because the citrate in them can prevent kidney stones.[9] Or, of course, cranberry juice!
Reduce sodium intake. Lowering your salt intake is essential because sodium is a risk factor for kidney stones.[10] Too much sodium in your diet increases calcium levels in your urine.[11] Reducing sodium can prevent stones from forming.
Avoid animal protein. Eating less animal protein — including meat, seafood, dairy products, and eggs — reduces your risk of developing kidney stones.[11] High-protein diets cause excess calcium in urine, lowers urine pH, and increases uric acid — all of which raise the chance that stones will develop.
Points to Remember
Cranberry is one of the most popular herbal supplements in the U.S., and drinking cranberry juice is often recommended by doctors and other healthcare providers for kidney stones and other urinary system issues.
Experts believe that the same natural compounds in cranberries that prevent harmful organisms from sticking to the urethra keep minerals that form stones from sticking together. Instead, they exit the body in urine.
Cranberry juice is a safe, natural way to support your kidneys. Another option is to take cranberry supplements to maintain the health of these vital organs. Other ways to reduce your risk of getting kidney stones are drinking plenty of fluids, lowering sodium intake, avoiding animal protein, and performing a kidney cleanse.
A kidney cleanse can flush harmful minerals from your system and set the stage for kidney health. Renaltrex Raw Herbal Extract contains cranberry and other herbs that support the normal functioning of your kidneys while eating a healthful diet.

Serve.

Hemp Protein Powder: The Best Plant-Based Protein?
Protein powders are all very popular nutritional supplements used by athletes, bodybuilders and those trying to lose weight or grow muscle mass.
Steak protein powder is just one of the very popular forms, produced by milling pressed hemp seeds into a fine powder.
It’s an earthy, nutty taste and is frequently included with shakes or smoothies to boost protein intake.
Hemp is really a high-quality vegan protein, comprising all nine essential amino acids, along with fiber, healthy fats and nutritional supplements.
This informative report reviews the pros and cons of hemp protein powder and also determines if it’s the best-fermented protein powder on the market.
Tumblr media
A Whole Protein
Hemp can be a complete protein, containing all nine essential amino acids that humans must get from food.
Yet, research is mixed on the specific levels of these proteins that it contains. But, other studies have demonstrated that berry has relatively low levels of their amino acid lysine, Which Makes It a more demanding quality option for This nutrient
That’s less protein per serving compared to soy or pea protein powders, which can be more highly processed and contain around 90% protein
But for anyone that prefer less processed protein sources, hemp is a good option.
Effortless to Digest
Generally Speaking, animal proteins are more easily digested than plant fats, however, study suggests that 91–98 percent of the protein from ground hemp seed is digestible
This usually means that your body can use just about all of the proteins from hemp protein powder to important bodily functions, such as care and repair.
However, other research which judge proteins predicated on both digestibility and amino acid content contemplate hemp protein to function as moderate quality — roughly on par with peas
Research has found that warmth transport can reduce the digestibility of flaxseed protein by about 10 percent, so Search for hemp seed protein powders generated from naturally-occurring seeds
An Excellent Source of Fiber
High-fiber diets have been linked to many health benefits, such as enhanced blood sugar, healthy gut bacteria and a decreased risk of bowel cancer
Men and women should consume 25 grams and 38 grams of fiber per day respectively, but studies show that less than 5% of American adults meet these Tips
High fiber foods, such as hemp protein, can help bridge this difference.
Hemp protein powders can comprise different levels of fiber according to whether or not they were made from hulled or unhulled hemp seeds and also whether additional fiber has been inserted.
Most raw protein powders contain 7–8 g of fiber per 1/4 cup (30 g ) and supply 18–28% of the recommended daily intake (RDI) of fiber for men and women respectively
In comparison, other plant-based protein powders like soy, pea, and rice are highly refined and contain very little fiber
Hemp protein powder is a great way to add both fiber and protein into your daily diet plan, which may help keep you feeling fuller, longer
Contains Unsaturated Fats
Steak protein powder is made from hemp seeds Which Have Been pressed to eliminate their own oils, but it still contains roughly 10 percent of the original fat content
A 1/4-cup (30-gram) serving has around 3 g of fat, most of which is unsaturated and great for heart wellness
Also, berry seeds feature the ideal 3:1 ratio of Omega6 to omega-3 fatty acids
A typical Western diet provides an unbalanced 15:1 ratio of these fats, also has been linked to many chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer
Consuming foods such as seeds, that have lower Omega6 to Omega 3 ratios, helps fix this imbalance and may enhance heart health
Since hemp protein powder is not as refined than the protein, it comprises more fat compared to many protein powders.
This fat material can be good for people that want to include more heart-healthy unsaturated fats to their own diet but might be unwanted for those seeking a lower-calorie protein powder.
Because hemp protein powder comprises fat, so it should really be stored in the fridge after opening to avoid the fats from becoming rancid.
Full of Minerals and Antioxidants
Hemp seeds are an incredibly rich source of minerals like magnesium, iron, calcium, manganese, zinc, and copper
To date, no research has investigated the way processing the seeds right into protein powder affects the degrees of these nutrients.
But the nutrition fact labels on many berry protein goods indicate that they comprise up to 80% of the RDI for calcium and 52 percent for iron each serving
What is more, hemp seeds contain compounds called lignanamides which have strong antioxidant properties
Antioxidants shield the human body from oxidative damage, which has been linked to chronic ailments such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, thus eating foods which contain antioxidants really is good for the wellbeing
Earthy Taste
Hemp protein powder is traditionally brownish-green in color and has a taste which can be called earthy, weathered or weathered.
While many people enjoy the flavor of hemp protein powder others believe it is too sturdy.
It is worth trying a little bit of berry protein to see if you like it until buying it in bulk. Since berry protein is less elegant than other types of protein powders, so it’s marginally grittier in texture.
Recommended Dosages
It blends well with smoothies and shakes but can be egg-shaped when garnished with plain water.
Adults want at least 0.36 grams of protein per pound (0.8 g per kg) of body weight, every day
To get a 150-pound (68.2-kg) adult, that means 55 grams of protein per day.
However, those who exercise want more protein to maintain their muscle mass.
The International Society of Sports Nutrition recommends that regular exercisers eat 0.64–0.9 g per pound (1.4–2.0 grams per kg) of body weight per day
Those who do resistance training while cutting back calories, like bodybuilders and fitness competitions, may need up to 1.4 grams per pound (3.1 grams per kg) of weightlifting
Athletes should consume protein in just two hours after exercise for optimum healing benefits. Doses of 5–1 tablespoon of hemp protein powder would be most effective for muscle building
While whole foods should make up the majority of the protein into your daily diet, supplementing with protein powder may be excellent additional protein supply.
Negative Effects and Precautions
While hemp protein powder is safe for a lot of people, there may be potential unwanted effects.
Since hemp protein contains relatively high amounts of fiber, some people may experience gas, nausea or bloating should they consume too much too quickly. Additionally, those with allergies hemp should avoid hemp protein powder
A few animal studies suggest that hemp may be dangerous for pregnant or nursing women, people with anemia and People with poor immunity, but human studies have been required
Though Berry is at the same plant family as marijuana, hemp seeds contain very little of this probiotic chemical THC. Research shows that consuming to 0.67 pounds or 300 g of hulled hemp seeds daily Doesn’t interfere with urine drug tests
The Main Point
Hemp protein powder really is a complete protein which packs antioxidants, minerals, fiber and also heart-healthy unsaturated fats.
It is a good choice, particularly for vegans, but might be fitter than other plant-based proteins such as soy.
Whenever it’s generally safe, it may trigger unwanted effects or adverse reactions in some people.
More research is required to find out the quality of hemp protein powder, however, it is a good selection for people looking for a nutritious protein powder using fiber and wholesome fats.

The Best Places To Eat And Drink In Historic Filipinotown (1)
From “Little Manila” to “Tommy’s District” to most recently “Hi-Fi,” Historic Filipinotown, a compact, 2.1 square-mile neighborhood in East Los Angeles, has cycled through more nicknames than Ronald William Artest Jr.
And while its exact boundaries still remain pretty hazy - its borders bleed into Echo Park, Rampart Village, and Westlake - it’s crystal clear that Historic Filipinotown has become a hotbed for new restaurants, particularly ones opened by second-generation Asian Americans. And since many of these spots began as pop-ups and passion projects, it’s really no surprise that so many of them feel fundamentally rooted in risk-taking. From Filipino street food and ultra-colorful coffee shops to a Cuban cafe that’s been around since the moon landing, these are the best places to eat and drink in Historic Filipinotown.
the spots  Jakob Layman Porridge and Puffs $ $ $ $ Vietnamese ,  Experimental  in  Historic Filipinotown $$$$ 2801 Beverly Blvd 8.1 /10
Porridge & Puffs is a prime example of what makes eating in Historic Filipinotown so exciting. From a coleslaw made with Vietnamese coriander and umami trail mix to the best brown butter mochi on this plane of existence, much like an ’80s remix of Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion,” everything here mixes the old with the new. The bowls of porridge, which are not quite traditional congee, nor the nutritionally devoid dinosaur oatmeal you used to eat as a child, are subtle, complex, and crafted with extreme care. Those porridges change seasonally, but our favorite, the poultry and mushroom, is available year-round. Creamy, savory, and topped with soy-sauce braised chicken and crispy shallots, this bowl is incredibly well-balanced, nourishing, and worth breaking and entering just to eat, Goldilocks-style.

In one of the most ambitious crossovers of all time (second only to when LeVar Burton visited Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood), The Park’s Finest marries the flavors of the Philippines with the BBQ techniques of the American South. Previously a backyard catering company in Echo Park, this comfy spot on Beverly Blvd., now serves dishes you can’t get anywhere else in Los Angeles, such as smoked beef top-round that comes stewed in a coconut-cream sauce and infused with vinegar, and their cornbread which is baked on banana leaves and incorporates elements of Filipino bibingka, or traditional rice cake. Plus they’ve got the best deal in town - once a week, for just $13, you can order the “Worker’s Wednesday” meal, a loaded box filled with pulled pork, BBQ chicken, hot links, coconut beef, veggies, and cornbread, all served over a bed of rice.

Gigi’s is one of the last remnants of the days when this area went by the name of Little Havana, and was less of a scene for young people who look like they own tasteful collections of local ceramics. When you first walk into this Cuban cafe, your eyes will immediately gravitate towards the glowing cases of decadent cakes and pastries, but put your annual Headspace subscription to use and channel all of your willpower, because you’re going to want to head straight to the cashier to order one of their perfectly pressed Cubanos, or plates of ropa vieja, which are a MasterClass™ in the balance of sweet and salty. Also, if you come early enough, they might still have a few pastelitos de guayaba queso (guava cheese strudels) and papas rellenas, an excellent, fluffy potato ball filled with spiced meat that rivals the ones at Porto’s.

Although there’s plenty to appreciate about life in 2020, (like legitimately being able to blame your bad personality traits on your Virgo moon), there are a few disadvantages. Namely, the dollar bill no longer goes as far as it used to. This is why Dollar Hits, a Filipino street-food truck turned grab-and-go restaurant, feels like such a revelation. Almost everything here is both $1 and a skewer, and while the more recognizable meats are great, it’s the more traditional sticks where things start to get really fun. The grilled isaw, or large pork intestine, is thick and creamy, and the enrile (fried chicken head) and betamax (congealed pig’s blood) are full of flavor, especially after being dunked in the Dollar Hits’ special vinegar-based BBQ sauce. Once you’ve secured your skewers, head out to the parking lot where you’ll join large groups of families congregating around the communal grills at one of the best street parties in town.
 Esther Sun Tactile Coffee $ $ $ $ Cafe/Bakery  in  Historic Filipinotown $$$$ 3019 Beverly Blvd
At first glance, Tactile kind of looks like it was created in some sort of Trendy LA Coffee Shop factory, complete with a sleek, minimalistic design, high ceilings, brick walls, and sleep-deprived patrons on laptops. But that’s just about where the generic-ness ends. The cafe, which started as a gourmet coffee truck and is owned and operated by two brothers, has a long list of innovative caffeinated drinks, like the Hibiscus + Espresso Sparkler and the Five-Second Rule, a chilled shot of espresso that, according to the menu, must be consumed within five seconds of being served (although we’ve never stuck around long enough to find out what the punishment is for noncompliance). Plus, in a delicious Bonus Jonas-style surprise, they’re also cranking out some of the best buttermilk biscuits in town. Dense, buttery, and served with a side of either raw honey, agave, or apple-butter, it’s a little unexpected for a cafe in Historic Filipinotown to have such great biscuits, but then again, you probably didn’t expect that a post-credit singing competition would be the best part of the Shrek 2 DVD, either.

Whether you ruled over your high school cafeteria with an iron fist or were so traumatized by its internal politics that you now talk about it every Thursday with your therapist, don’t let your past history with lunchrooms stop you from eating at Bahay Kubo. This very affordable Filipino restaurant is set up “turo-turo,” or cafeteria-style, where you build your own plates by literally pointing at what you want from their broad display of hot foods. If you’re familiar with the cuisine, you’ll recognize Filipino favorites like heaping pans of pancit noodles, turon (sweet, deep-fried lumpia made with bananas), and kare kare (a thick, savory stew made with peanut sauce). But if you’re more of a novice, worry not, the people behind the counter will patiently walk you through what’s on the steam table, which of course, means lots of tasting.
 Bloom and Plume Bloom and Plume $ $ $ $ Cafe/Bakery  in  Historic Filipinotown $$$$ 1638 W Temple St
One of LA’s greatest charms is that some of the best restaurants exist in strip malls that you could drive past a thousand times and never notice. Bloom & Plume, however, is not one of those places. From their bright violet walls and bold orange accents to a glowing neon sign out front, this coffee shop feels like someone slid the saturation bar all the way to the right. Which makes sense, given the fact that they’re run by the same person behind the whimsical and wildly popular floral store next door of the same name. Our favorite things on their limited menu are the jam and ricotta toast and the best-looking breakfast sandwich we’ve ever seen, which comes with a fried egg, arugula, Havarti cheese, and strategically placed edible flowers. Plus, drop by any day of the week and you’ll find a diverse assortment of community-based events, like free budgeting workshops, underwear donation drives, and weekly meditations.
 Krystal Thompson Thunderbolt $ $ $ $ Bar Food ,  Bar  in  Echo Park $$$$ 1263 W Temple St
Hitting this neighborhood bar after dinner at Park’s Finest (which is located right next door) is by far one of our favorite combo packages, right behind our nightly “Bed + Will It Blend? videos” regimen. The space inside is gigantic, and ideal for everything from first dates to after-work drinks to hosting the support group for people attracted to Roger Deakins you’ve been thinking about starting for weeks. And while there are some Southern-ish food items on the menu, again, we recommend starting with the real deal next door. Because you’re here for the drinks. All of the cocktails, like the La Frutera, which is made with tamarind and mango, are strong and delicious, plus they’re one of the only bars in LA serving a wide variety of Madeira, a rich, sweet fortified wine that tastes so good it’ll make you forget about your crush on a 70-year-old man who’s been married for nearly 30 years.
 Krystal Thompson Woon $ $ $ $ Chinese  in  Historic Filipinotown $$$$ 2920 W Temple St 7.9 /10
Woon is a family-owned restaurant that can handle just about any occasion. From the compact menu of mostly Shanghainese dishes like pork belly bao and wood ear mushrooms to the airy, modern space, this is the kind of rare, fast-casual restaurant that’s quick, efficient, and actually nice to hang out in. Need an affordable, last-minute date spot? Head to Woon. Had a horrible day at work in which you not only spilled an entire coffee on your sweater but also posted an inappropriate .GIF in the company-wide Slack? As extremely niche and specific as that situation is, surprisingly, Woon’s got something for that as well. Namely, a bowl of their excellent, chewy beef noodles, followed by an ice cream bao.
Wonho Frank Lee Genever Lounge $ $ $ $ Historic Filipinotown $$$$ 3123 Beverly Blvd
We’ll keep this simple - if you like drinking gin, go to Genever. Whether you’re a novice or full-blown pro in the world of distilled juniper juice, there’s something for everyone at this fun, upscale bar. The sparkling chandeliers, velvet couches, and sexy flapper mural kind of make you feel like you’re in a deleted scene from the The Great Gatsby, plus this Prohibition-era speakeasy is owned by three women, with a cocktail menu filled with drinks that are named after female-focused films like Knock Down The House and The Farewell, and tropical ingredients like pandan, pineapple, and a house-made banana puree.

ALDI Bakers Corner Flour Ecoli O26 Outbreak
Imagine my dismay when learning that Aldi Baker’s Corner Flour has been linked to an Ecoli O26 outbreak. A product that is a staple in our home and is so reasonably priced that we often stock up for our cooking and baking adventures. Naturally, I went deep into some research. And here’s what you need to know about the Bakers Corner Flour Ecoli O26 Outbreak.
What We Know
The case count by state is: California (1), Connecticut (1), Missouri (1), New Jersey (1), New York (5), Pennsylvania (2), and Rhode Island (1). Illness onset dates range from December 11, 2018 to April 17, 2018. The patient age range is from 7 to 86 years. Of 17 people who have been interviewed by public health officials, 3 have been hospitalized. There is no information about whether or not any of the patients have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious complication of an E. coli infection that causes kidney failure.
Whole genome sequencing was performed on isolates taken from people sickened in this outbreak. Those tests showed that the bacteria isolated from ill persons was closely related genetically. That means people in this outbreak are more likely to share a common source of infection.
Epideimiologic and traceback evidence indicates that flour is the likely source of this outbreak. Of seven people who were interviewed, four said they ate, licked, or tasted raw homemade dough or batter before they got sick. Two people who have more detailed information reported eating raw dough or batter made with flour or baking mixes from ALDI.
Investigators with the Rhode Island Department of Health collected records and flour samples at a bakery where one of the patients sickened in this outbreak said they ate raw dough. Records showed that the bakery in question used Baker’s Corner All Purpose Flour from ALDI. The outbreak strain of E. coli O26 was isolated from an unopened bag of Baker’s Corner All Purpose Flour collected at that bakery.
The flour was sold at the retail level in these states: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. Other brands or lots of flour may be recalled as the government continues their investigation.
Flour can cause illnesses just like any raw agricultural product. It doesn’t happen just because there currently is a ALDI Bakers Corner Flour Ecoli O26 Outbreak. It’s important that cooks treat raw flour as carefully as raw eggs. Never eat raw dough or batter. Don’t make play dough for your kids using raw flour. Clean your kitchen thoroughly, including the countertops, drawer handles, and floor, after you have worked with flour. And always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after you have handled uncooked flour and raw doughs and batters.
The symptoms of an E. coli infection include a mild fever, serious and painful abdominal cramps, and diarrhea that is usually watery or bloody. In some cases, especially when the patient is under the age of 5, hemolytic uremic syndrome can develop. Symptoms of that illness include lethargy, pale skin, little urine output, and easy bruising. Anyone who is experiencing any of these symptoms needs to see a doctor. You may be part of this ALDI Baker’s Corner flour E. coli O26 outbreak.
How I Feel
As a parent, I try really hard to make sure that our kids are safe from these outbreaks and that we practice the best kitchen safety that we possibly can, especially now that our oldest likes to help cook so much. Teaching our boys kitchen safety has started from such a young age that I think our oldest just does it because it is part of life which I love. He really takes his time and is quite patient in the kitchen.
When we hear of these outbreaks it is hard to not feel fear. I know that living in fear of things is not a great way to be, but something as simple as a bag of flour could potentially land us in the hospital. Being aware that we have to treat flour as carefully as a raw egg as mentioned above adds another dimension to cooking and while the warnings and kitchen safety are heavy on our minds it is always quite scary to think that it would take only a little slip up to put us in danger.
When I learned of this outbreak please note we do not live in the affected states but we do live in 1 that borders and we just left from traveling into said state. I have to admit that I have trashed our Baker’s Corner flour. It is not worth the risk for me and some may say that I am being overly paranoid or reading too much in to the outbreak, but at this time the health and well being of my entire family including those who come to visit us for meals is really important. I felt like by trashing the flour which was priced very low anyway would put my mind at ease and would also not break the bank for just tossing it and replacing it with something else. I would much rather lose out on a dollar or two than have potentially thousands of dollars in medical bills.
These outbreaks also prove to be a time to brush up on kitchen safety and to give small learning lessons to our boys as reminders. I find that I can easily brush up on my kitchen skills as well and use this time to reflect on how we can do things differently and safer.
Conclusion
If you feel that you have any symptoms after using ALDI Baker’s Choice Flour, please seek medical care and as always keep an eye here on MakeFoodSafe for the very latest information on food recalls and outbreaks, like the ALDI Bakers Corner Flour Ecoli O26 Outbreak.

foolproof cacio e pepe
Soon, extremely soon, I’m going to tell you more about our 12 days in Andalucía but before that, before summer is truly over, before I start thinking about cooking more complex meals again, before I even consider turning on the oven again, I wanted to tell you that this summer was the year I finally figured out how to make cacio e pepe, one of my favorite pastas, as good at you’d have in Rome, and we cannot let the summer end until you do too.
Huh? Deb, you wrote about it years ago, in 2011. But the recipe always bothered me, and the reason is written out right in it: authentic cacio e pepe contains only three sauce ingredients: pecorino romano (this is the cacio, the cheese), black pepper (this is the pepe, ground to your desired texture, often toasted first if you’re going for extra flavor), and pasta, plus splashes of the pasta’s hot starchy cooking water to form a sauce. It doesn’t contain oil, butter, cream, flour, cornstarch or any other binders. The trouble begins when you try to merge/coalesce/magic together water and cheese into an emulsified, creamy sauce. Ever tried to mix oil and water? In my kitchen, it goes about as well as you might imagine.
Frustrated in 2011, I added a little cream and butter* to make it work. But I never “finished” the recipe in my mind. Since then, I have tried — this is barely an understatement — every single 3-ingredient technique on the internet and in cookbooks I could track down, I have watched videos completely in Italian to try to glom how they do it, walked into the kitchen, repeated their exact steps, and failed every time. I try about 6 times a year. It’s been 7 years. I never, ever succeed in magic-ing pasta water and cheese into a smooth sauce. The cheese melts before it glues itself to the noodles, cementing itself instead to the pot, the bowl, the tongs, the stuff of dishwashing dread. I imagine this sounds familiar to others.
When someone emailed me (hi, Annie!) earlier this summer and told me about Flavio de Maio’s (of the restaurant Flavio Velavevodetto in Rome) method as shared by tour guide and Roman cooking expert Elizabeth Minchilli on her site, I was fresh off my latest cacio flop and thanked her, but expressed my doubt that this would be This One. That was 2:12pm. At 6:12pm, I sent her a photo of our dinner and told her she’d changed my life, and I hope yours, possibly in the next 20 minutes.
* it was good enough for Batali, so it was good enough for me, I rationalized in 2011; what different times those were
I wrote a thing: I wrote an Op-Ed for the New York Times about a favorite subject — cooking and why it’s terrible and you should never do it. Here’s the link. I hope you read, uh, to the end.

Here’s the magic of this technique: The recipe sticks to the 3-ingrdient-only premise, but it begins the sauce with cold water, forming the cheese and pepper into a thick, paste-like sauce, without any of the separated, gloppy cheese risk that can happen with pasta cooking water. No heat touches the sauce until it hits the piping hot pasta, so it melts only onto the noodles. At this point, you use spoonfuls of cooking water as needed to loosen it to a thick but lightly creamy consistency. And it works every time, which will I bet will a lot more often after today.
Check out Elizabeth Minchilli’s site for a video of Flavio making it himself with an immersion blender.
The traditional pasta used for cacio e pepe is tonnarelli, sometimes sold as spaghetti alla chittara, a squared-off, slightly thicker spaghetti, but you use what you can get. I’m using standard thickness spaghetti here. The traditional cheese used for cacio e pepe is pecorino romano, a sharp, salty aged sheep’s milk cheese. If you can only get parmesan, it works too, but you’ll probably need to add salt to the sauce. While the recipe below works as written, you’ll probably want to make adjustments to taste, and to the intensity, age, and saltiness of your cheese.
How much is “a lot” of freshly ground black pepper? It’s impossible to measure — too low in grams to register steadily on a scale, too varied in coarseness to measure in consistent measuring spoons, plus peppercorns vary in intensity, and your preference may not be someone else’s. Taste the cheese-pepper mixture. The pepper should be prominent and give it a sparkly kick. If you want more, add more. Remember that this sauce base will stretch over a lot of pasta, so if it tastes too intense, that’s probably correct. For what it’s worth, I counted 46 peppermill grinds on one batch, but I keep mine pretty tight/at a fine grind.
8 ounces dried spaghetti or tonnarelli
4 ounces aged pecorino romano, finely grated
A lot of freshly ground black pepper
Bring a pot of well-salted water to boil. Cook pasta to one minute shy of package instructions and taste for your desired doneness, cooking a minute longer if needed. We are not cooking the pasta and sauce further together on the stove, so the bite it has now is about what your final dish will.
While it’s cooking, combine all the pecorino (except a spoonful for garnish) and lots of freshly ground black pepper in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon cold water and use an immersion blender to work it into a paste, adding additional cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, only as needed. You want to form the mixture into a paste about the thickness of cream cheese or frosting. I use about 4 to 5 tablespoons total for this amount. Blend more than you think is needed; you want this paste as smooth as you can get it. You can do this same process in a food processor, even grinding the cheese in it instead of grating it first but it will require longer processing to get the rubble-like cheese smooth.
Before the pasta is done, scoop out a cup of hot cooking water and set it aside. Drain the pasta very quickly in a colander (no need to shake every drop of water off) and immediately drop it, piping hot, into a large bowl. Add 3/4 of cheese-pepper paste in dollops and toss to combine. It’s going to be too thick to form a sauce but once it has begun to coat the noodles, pour in one small ladleful of pasta water and toss, toss, toss (a lot of movement helps here) to loosen the paste into a lightly creamy consistency that evenly coats the spaghetti strands. Taste and add more of the cheese-pepper paste to taste, or use it all. Add more pasta water as needed only to loosen.
Finish with reserved pecorino and a few grinds of black pepper. Eat immediately.

Proven Solutions To Becoming Great At Cooking
Cooking on a daily basis can become mundane very quickly. To liven up your relationship with cooking, how about diving in and learning a few new techniques? When you consider that cooking not only feeds your family, but also offers you a fun hobby to explore, it just makes sense to expand your abilities. To get you started, some good ideas are offered here.
Before cooking with skewers there are a few things that you need to know. Squared or twisted metal skewers secure the food better than rounded ones.
Overdo it a little when you bake a pie crust. They should not be a pale blond color, they need to be golden brown. When the crust is a golden color then you know the sugar has caramalized and you will have a sweet and crispy result.
TIP! As you are seasoning your meats, you should make a little piece first before you cook the entire piece. A lot of foods require you to season them carefully; for instance meatloaf, hamburgers or meatballs.
Cooking a large meal for friends or family requires a great deal of preparation ahead of time. Look at your recipe, and ensure that you aren’t missing any ingredients. Check the day before you start to cook to make sure that you have everything that you need to cook the dish you have planned. This can help relax everything so that you can make something great.
Keep all spices stored out of the sunlight. Exposing spices to heat, humidity, and light will shorten their lifespan. To keep your spices spicy and fresh, store them in an area that is cool and dark. Better tasting meals are the result of the ingredients you use, including the freshest spices possible.
TIP! Do you ever feel bad for disposing of fruit with a little mold on it? Can you cut out the rotten areas or moldy areas and still eat the fruit? Trying to salvage fruit when half of it is bad may save money, but it is not worth the health risks. Get rid of them quickly, as mold can develop and cause health problems.
It is a good practice to place cut potatoes in a bath of cold water for about half and hour, before frying in order to get crispy fries. When potatoes are allowed to absorb cold water, the texture is able to withstand the extreme heat of cooking without breaking down and becoming mushy.
Quickly cooking vegetables allows them to retain much of their nutritional value. Though slow cooking is popular in some cultures, the process actually eliminates important nutrients and renders the vegetables tasteless. These cooking techniques will yield vegetables that are healthier and taste great as well. Cook your vegetables for the minimum amount of time for better results.
TIP! Raw potatoes should rest in chilly water for approximately 30 minutes. This will help them to be crispy and delicious.
These seasonings can also add unexpected flavor to other foods. Try roasted pumpkin seeds sprinkled with the seasoning for a tasty snack or mix it in your scrambled eggs. You’ll even surprise yourself with just how delicious your food tastes.
Learning to cook in new ways can be the beginning of a fantastic adventure in the kitchen. The tips in this article will help to get you started. When you cook, it can be an exciting and tasty way to get more knowledge about food. You may even learn something new about yourself through cooking. Your meals will gradually start to improve in quality and taste as your skills improve.

Turmeric and Honey Roast Turkey Recipe
Recipe by Jennafer Ashley from PaleoHacks
Roast turkey has been a major focal point of holiday celebrations, most especially in the U.S. According to the University of Illinois Extension, Americans consume roughly 46 million turkeys annually during Thanksgiving, 22 million during Christmas and 19 million during Easter.
While there are many tried-and-tested ways of preparing turkey, why not try something new and healthy the next time you plan to roast it? Created by Jennafer Ashley of PaleoHacks, this turmeric and roast honey turkey  recipe will be the star of your dining table, whether during holiday gatherings or relaxed get-togethers. The honey and turmeric combination may be new for some people, but it’s sure to satisfy the taste buds of anyone who tries it.
Turmeric and Roast Honey Turkey
Ingredients:
For the turkey: 1 whole organic cage free turkey (ideal weight is 11 pounds) 4 cups organic turkey broth 4 tablespoons grass fed butter, cut into slices 4 rosemary sprigs 1 teaspoon rubbed sage 1 teaspoon thyme 1 teaspoon sea salt 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Honey Turmeric Glaze: 4 tablespoons grass fed butter 1 teaspoon ground turmeric 2 tablespoons raw honey 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 teaspoon sea salt
Procedure:
Begin by thawing the turkey according to package directions.
Heat oven to 325 degrees F and move oven rack to the bottom. Remove giblets and rinse entire turkey with cool water. Pat dry with paper towel. Place turkey into roasting pan on rack. Neatly position wings behind turkey.
Place sprigs of rosemary in cavity of turkey. Mix together sage, thyme, onion powder, sea salt and black pepper in a small bowl.
Use fingers to lift the skin of the turkey near the thighs and rub grass fed butter underneath as well as on top. Next, rub dry seasoning under the skin and all over the top of turkey. Pour turkey broth into pan.
Insert an oven-safe meat thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh without touching bone. Place turkey in oven and roast for one hour, uncovered.
Carefully remove turkey from oven. Baste turkey with broth. If you find that the broth has evaporated, add 2 cups of broth to the pan, allow it to mix with the drippings, and then baste as normal.
Place the lid on the roasting pan and return to the oven.
Continue to cook the turkey, basting every 45 minutes until the thermometer reaches 165 degrees F. Cooking time will vary with the size of turkey (the rule of thumb is 13 minutes per pound).
Melt grass fed butter for glaze over medium/low heat, stir in honey, turmeric, garlic and sea salt until smooth. Use a basting brush to cover turkey with glaze. Return turkey to oven for 20 minutes, uncovered.
Allow turkey to rest 20 minutes before carving.
This recipe makes 1 pound of meat Preparation time: 20 minutes Cooking time: 2 hours and 30 minutes Total time: 2 hours and 50 minutes
Health Benefits of Top-Notch Turkey
While cooking a whole turkey takes a lot of time, seeing your finished product being enjoyed by family and friends is definitely worth the effort. However, not all roast turkey is created equal, since some birds may be marinated or cooked with potentially harmful trans fats, or the bird itself may harbor unwanted substances or pathogens.
If you’re looking for more reasons to eat turkey outside the holidays, look at its nutrition content. Turkey is a very high-protein food that’s rich in B vitamins (particularly B3, B6 and B12) and selenium, which may serve as a potent antioxidant and help reduce your risk for chronic diseases. It also has been shown to possess other nutrients like:
Folate
Potassium
Iron
Zinc
Copper
Phosphorus
Magnesium
Fatty acids
One compound in turkey that stands out is an amino acid called tryptophan. Although it’s present in low quantities in turkey, you can still benefit from it since tryptophan is needed to produce niacin that’s essential for serotonin production. Serotonin is important because it can assist with boosting mood and alertness, and may work with melatonin to regulate sleeping patterns.
However, to reap tryptophan’s benefits, you need to regularly consume turkey and other foods containing this amino acid such as pumpkin seeds, nuts and free-range organic eggs. The body doesn’t produce essential amino acids like tryptophan, so you must replenish your body’s stores of them through your diet.
When buying turkey, the World’s Healthiest Foods suggests looking for organic, pasture-raised birds that were sourced from a local farmer. This way, you ensure that the turkeys are more nutrient-rich since they were allowed to forage and look for food, and not fed contaminated or unhealthy substances.
Avoid processed turkey products because these may contain excessive amounts of sodium that may cause adverse effects. MedicalNewsToday notes that processed turkey meats are often smoked or made using sodium nitrites. These may combine with amines (another compound naturally present in the meat) to create N-nitroso compounds that are known carcinogens. Why Is Raw Honey Good for You?
In this recipe, raw honey provides just the right amount of sweetness to complement the turkey’s savory meat. It has much more to offer, though, compared to the ultra-processed and excessively sweet varieties found in most commercial stores. Royal jelly, propolis and bee pollen, all of which are found in raw honey, contain good amounts of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Raw honey has also been linked to benefits such as:
Enhancing gut bacteria — A 2006 BMC Complementary & Alternative Medicine animal study revealed that when honey was used in place of sugars in processed food, harmful and genotoxic effects of mycotoxins were prevented and gut microflora was improved.
Possessing antibacterial capabilities — A 2011 Biotechnology Research International article noted that raw and processed honey was found to have antibacterial properties against gram-positive and gram-negative strains.
Increasing your body’s ability to ward off allergies — According to WebMD, raising the body’s immunity against pesky allergies may be achieved by consuming more locally produced raw honey.
If you’re interested in purchasing raw honey, contact a trustworthy source like a local organic beekeeper who may be residing in your area. Ensure that the final product is unfiltered, local and 100 percent pure.
Terrific Turmeric: Why You Should Keep This Spice at Hand Although this recipe calls for a very small amount of turmeric, this bright-colored spice can make a big impact. Turmeric, which has a warm and bitter taste, is mainly added to curries and other Asian dishes. It may not be a common ingredient in typical roast turkey, but once you realize what its health-boosting capabilities are, you may just find yourself using it for your dishes more often.
Curcumin, a polyphenol in turmeric, is mainly responsible for some of the spice’s health benefits. Some studies have suggested that curcumin may play a role in combating:
Diabetes
Obesity
Neurologic and psychiatric disorders
Chronic illnesses targeting your eyes, lung, liver, kidneys and gastrointestinal and cardiovascular systems
Other research conducted on curcumin has highlighted its potential to reduce your risk for various cancers. , , , A 2012 Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews article also showed that curcumin may help in the remission of ulcerative colitis (UC). Curcumin’s other digestive system-related benefits don’t stop here, as this compound’s ability to promote bile production in your gallbladder may be useful for targeting digestive disorders, enhancing digestion and alleviating bloating and gas.
