no change in the movies pisses me off more than them having peeta just scream "ur all gonna die!!!1!1" at the camera with the hard cut to haymitch going "that was a warning (empath)" when in the book it was peeta struggling to even get the warning out and literally everyone in 13 expect haymitch and katniss going "wtf did he mean by that he can't be trusted" to which haymitch had to desperately plead with coin to listen to the warning, because that's obviously what is was, and none of them know peeta except for him and katniss

Like as unintentionally funny as the scene in the movie is it wasn't even a moment in the books that makes haymitch seem all that clever, like they try to spin in it the movie, it was just him knowing and trusting peeta. It was a testiment to his love for the kid, not anything else ughhfhfjkdkdkf

#they really unintentionally dumb haymitch and katniss down #with this scene with the notes in the games by not showing us his games #like haymitch and katniss are incredibly clever and a lot of that is shown in the books by how they effortlessly understand each other #obviously a big one is ''im with the mockingjay''#but then communicating through gifts in the games #haymitch knowing exactly how to get katniss to be appealing on a screen #How he survived his games with the forcefield and figuring out the trick of the arena...#the list is endless but they cut out so many of the moments from the movies and focus on the wrong ones #so movie haymitch just doesn't hold the same punch to me and book haymitch #also forever mad about him being blonde in the movies #haymitch abernathy #the hunger games #:v

AU Idea:

Peeta is rescued, non-hijacked. Katniss, in a desperate bid to be with him and by his side when doctors try removing her uses the wife card.

Coin, who may or may not know Katniss and Peeta weren't married, decides if Katniss is gonna act like they are married she will too. They promptly are requested to move in together. Sign a marriage certificate. And she loosely implies that Katniss and Peeta, as a young, healthy and presumably fertile couple will be encouraged to have children.

Peeta, at first, is SUPER bothered by this. They are being forced into things again and it feels gross.

Katniss on the other hand, is only seeing this as an excuse to have Peeta cuddle time. Which after all she's been through, she feels like she deserves. If it takes marriage to stop people prying him away from her she will happily do it. This reaction does a lot to soothe Peetas reaction.
