You know what I love and just applaud Rachel zegler for doing so well? Making Lucy gray’s mannerisms and tone slightly different whenever she’s performing for the cameras e.g the scene at the zoo when she was being asked questions
More than that I love that in every scene with Coriolanus she doesn’t do that tone or mannerisms EXCEPT THE LAST SCENE SHE HAS WITH HIM BEFORE SHE DISAPPEARS
Like everything about it from the tone of voice to the way that she said “I’m not made out of sugar” to the way that she smiled was just so eerily similar to the way that she acts when she is preforming for an audience
Like I cant be the only one who sees how different she acts
Look at that! that’s a woman PREFORMING if I ever saw one
Tumblr media
But what’s so important is that SHE IS preforming, she’s made her choice, she knows she has to leave but she also knows that she is talking to someone who is extremely volatile and has shown that he can kill so she has to bide her time and play it perfectly to disappear like she needed to
So she preforms to stay alive, just like she did in the games, Lucy gray’s last performance was actually this conversation- not any song.

Before the cepheids became who they are, they had a fierce fight with their future King.
L: I had an idea to draw a seria of the five cepheids of Gideon, the sualokin’s King, right after they had a battle with him. First comes Leik and Natrix.

My favorite Hunger Games headcanon is that Katniss and Peeta named one of their kids Dandy in a nod to dandelions

Finally watched Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and I’m curious if other people had the same experience I did with watching Part II.
Cause for me, the Games themselves were a LOT harder to watch in this than they were in the originals. Part of that is because the 10th Hunger Games have a lot less spectacle than the 74th and 75th - the arena is just an arena, there’s no landscape, no elaborate traps, just kids fighting in a glorified pit - but I think part of it is also the perspective. In The Hunger Games, you’re pretty firmly rooted in Katniss’s perspective. You, like her, are focused on the practical - how she’s going to find food and water, how she can avoid enemies, where she can find shelter - and all the scheming and strategizing can kind of distract you from the basic horrifying facts of the games. But tbosas puts you in a voyeur’s perspective, and forces you to just watch the events unfold, and you have nothing to distract you from how utterly unfair and senseless they are.
Did anyone else feel that? Like, it seems counterintuitive that pulling focus away from the characters most directly harmed by the injustice would better showcase how unjust it is, but that’s how it felt for me. When you’re in a tribute’s head, you can sort of trick yourself into feeling like they have agency (because in the immediate present, they do have agency! Lucy Gray gets to decide whether she is going to run, or hide, or fight, or give up, and Snow can’t do anything but watch), but when the film puts distance between the viewer and the tributes it becomes even clearer how much agency has been stripped away from them.

I was thinking about Haymitch's physical traits in the books vs the movie. In the books when they watch the records of the 50th edition, Katniss says that Haymitch could be her relative, with the same dark complexion, dark hair and grey eyes, while in the movie he's blonde and light-skinned. Knowing that the blonde people in District 12 were mostly from the middle-class (Peeta's family, Katniss' mom) don't you think it's unfair that they made Haymitch blonde? Of course the uninterested viewer won't notice, but in the book it is stated that a boy very much like Katniss managed to win the 50th edition, a boy from the poor part of the District, who had no relatives, who suffered a lot, he wasn't from the upper class and this nuance was totally lost
Idk

Was anybody going to tell me last 200 pages of The Great Hunt were absolutely life-changing incredible or was I supposed to find that out by losing my shit on a plane myself?

There is something so poetic about Lucy gray having mockingjays echo her voice as she runs away from Coriolanus only for years later for Katniss to take on mockingjays as her symbol and echo Lucy gray’s voice once more while she takes him down
Like I could write essays about the way Lucy adopts the snake symbol and the way Katniss adopts the mockingjay symbol (or make a really long post later) and also another essay about how in Lucy’s last scene the snake bite came first then she left him with the echoes of her voice in mockingjays

In this prologue (which is short, I know) you will find:
Pursuit.
Your dear brother (and security guards...).
A strange mirror.
And the customization of your traveler.
If you find any kind of error, let me know. I only accept constructive criticism and let me know if there is something that can be better adapted.
(I wanted to publish it soon because I'm too nervous to wait!)
Now to the demo!!
