As much as I know ALL of us wanted last few chapters of MJ and the epilogue to give us more of that sweet sweet everlark....lately I am appresiateing the absolute WILLPOWER is must have taken Collins to keep things vauge.
Like you KNOW she wanted to add it all. She wanted to write the sweet gastures, the little bits of happiness they relearn. She wanted to write that first quick, shy kiss. The first time Katniss gets her Peeta back to help her nightmares. We all accept this right, how much she must have itched so bad to write out the whole part of them growing back together? But she didn't. Because it IS better left reasonably vauge. It makes sense as far as Katniss and her narration. As well as being a good way to end a story in general, leaving pleanty of room for fans to imagine what they like best.
I can only imagine how much it took her to contain herself and give us only what she did.

Katniss and Peeta getting to learn they still love one another again, in a peaceful life filled with healing.
Though little gifts and gestures. Moment where they can't hold it together and get to fall into the comfort of one anothers companionship. Just them learning they don't ever have to be alone or in this pain by themselves ever again. They of course have friends and others to support them, but to have one another without question or doubt.
Just the JOY they get when they realize this. The fear, hesitation and doubt that goes away.

New Fic!
Aftermath of the argument Everlark has about children the first time it comes up. Katniss has got more to say about the whole thing than what it looks like on the surface.
This fic was written THREE TIMES. Three different ways and still, I am not as happy with it as I have been in the past. This mostly dialouge style I tried out got things across fairly nicely but I still feel it could be better. Just was over it enough to be happy enough to post. Hopefully you all enjoy regaurdless!

Firstly, love this scene for so many reasons. Chiefly Katniss outing herself here XD. 'Oh but I can't be certein any of these feelings are real-' than something like this happens. KATNISS BE SO FOR REAL WITH ME RIGHT NOW.
Secondly, the tags saying this is why the love triangle exists are so valid. SO incredibly valid in fact KATNISS HERSELF admits so offhandedly. We genuinely forget in CF Katniss says absolutely the baby bomb could be real if she hadn't spent years being afraid of love and kids. Like Kat literately tells us 'I mean...yea...if I had not been forced through the trauma I have I totally could be married and pregnant with this man right now.'
Say it with me: Gale never stood a chance, and Collins had to INVENT hurdles for Peeta and Katniss to artificially give him a fair shot XD.

everlark falls in love in every universe.
a universe where katniss is a history teacher and peeta is an art teacher? they get assigned as the teachers in charge of the annual school play. they spend so much time together discussing script changes, approving customes, and designing the scenery, they start seeing each other in a different light.
katniss is a commoner and peeta is the prince? they meet after one of peeta’s escapades leads him into katniss’ parents shop, hoping no one recognizes him. katniss, unfortunately, recognizes him instantly. however, her silence is secured with a deal: if he can use her store as a refuge when he is mentally exhausted from his royal duties, he must also sneak her into the castle occasionally
katniss is a soldier and peeta is a nurse? after katniss suffers a catastrophic leg injury, she's forced to spend a lot of time in the makeshift, under-eqquipped mobile army hospital. katniss’ closed off and grumpy demeanor is eventually softened by peeta’s rare-to-encounter-in-these-environments kindness and gentle personality
katniss is a professional tennis player and peeta a tennis fan? they meet at a sports bar after one of her matches, where peeta pretends not to know who she is, despite feeling starstruck, so they can have a normal conversation. she sees right through him, and finds his stuttering and inability to meet her gaze so endearing that the night ends with her inviting him to spend the night at her place
peeta is a baker at a little coffee shop where katniss stops by every friday? after many free pastries, coffee cups adorned with heart doodles, and memorizing the times she visits, peeta finally asks katniss out on a date, who was expecting for him to make a move since the very first day
there’s not a single universe where peeta doesn't fall in love with katniss since the first moments, and katniss isn't in denial trying to hide her obvious deep feelings for him

Here me out: Virgin Peeta
I know the fandom have a preference to headcanon Peeta as someone popular with girls cause he is canonically so nice and had a lot of friends. But I imagine him being so inexperienced as Katniss.
Kisses
I dare to say Katniss was Peeta first kiss too. I know some people will point out that there is evidence to deny this. But lets consider Katniss never was very clinical in describe their kissed (what make sense, since the sexual tension is a subtle element in the books). But we can't deduce their second kiss on cave was guide for Peeta, proving he's done this before. It is the kiss that made she want more, but this can be just her sexual awaking.
And let's remember Peeta didn't consider Katniss never kiss before. Even in the second book, after all those kisses, he asked if she kissed Gale only once. So, the kisses aren't good because the kisser's ability, they are good cause their are from the beloved one.
Katniss liked Peeta's kisses because she liked Peeta.
Charming and flirting
Right, Katniss never say it out to us neither to herself how attractive Peeta is to her. And judging other people perception about Peeta, he is probably a guy with an ordinary appearance (while Katniss, indeed, always was an attractive person, if she was so alike Gale, of course she was pretty).
So I think our perception about Peeta advances are filter by Katniss interesting on him. In fact, Peeta can be an inexperienced boy imitating the way his brothers and friends flirted. Maybe, for other people, Peeta approach would sound awkward, but for Katniss, everything fit perfectly.
Conclusion
I do think Peeta is charming, funny and attractive for real, but for me he kinda fit the role of a guy friend. Someone girls enjoy the company but prefer him just as a friend cause for them Peeta didn't have the physical appeal or just isn't their type (while for Katniss is literally perfect)

To me the 'stay with me' kiss in MJ will always be superior to the first 2 kisses. They're all special in their own way, but I always feel like that MJ kiss was beyond compare.
And the thing is, it's not even a romantic or sexual kiss. It's pure desperation poured from Katniss' lips, urging this boy on the verge of insanity to remember, and the fact that he comes back and remembers just from the feel of her lips is insane. I mean she practically brings him back to life, because no other time before that does Peeta come back to reality on command, he either has to be sedated or hit unconscious to stop him from inflicting violence, and only comes back after a good while.
When I tell you that damned kiss drives me insane.
#THIS!#And it is a start of a turn around from all the painful stuff of the Hijacking. Like both Kat and Peeta begin to mend things albeit slowly#That combined with him refusing to let her take the nightlock pill gave me so much hope during the stretch of Mockingjay#when it felt like there was literally no way for them Katniss kisses Peeta and he remembers. Peeta refuses to let her end her own life.#It fits so tragically but beautifully well that they grow back together.
