Doing some tarot reading over the weekend, I kept turning up a series of the same cards across a number of spreads about different subjects, and kept running into the same basic and not super helpful information from those cards. So finally I designed a new spread to break out of the pattern: Tell Me Something New.

Essentially, you remove whatever cards keep turning up, or cards that represent concepts that you keep running into within the deck, and set them aside. Shuffle the remaining cards or randomize however you like and lay out five cards in a row, with the third card slightly below the others, and a sixth card off to one side if desired.

The cards are assigned as follows:

The "Clearance" card. This card isn't actually part of the reading; you set it down, note the card, but don't pay much attention to the meaning or factor it into the rest of the reading.

The most important message of this reading.

The secret reason this is the most important message.

What to do about the message.

The most likely outcome of your actions.

If need be, either use the sixth card for additional context, or "replace" any of the cards in the reading that don't seem to fit with card #6.

Creative Writing Tarot Spread

Writers block bogging you down? Use this 7-card spread to help jumpstart your creativity! This prompt can help you generate a very basic storyline.

First, pull a character card! Decide for yourself what this means: will your character carry the traits of the positive meanings of this card? Will your character’s conflicts be brought about by the card’s negative meanings? Will your character look like the figure depicted on the card? Will they wield the item depicted on the card? (Note: if your story has multiple main characters, you may wish to pull a card for each)

Next, pull the plot cards! Pull a card for the beginning of your story, a card for the middle, and a card for the end. Again, let yourself decide what this means. Do these cards describe your character’s emotional state(s) as the story progresses? Do these cards describe internal or external conflicts? Do these cards represent other characters your MC will meet along the way?

Finally, pull your meat cards! These cards are the “meat” of your story. Pull one card for the main or most important setting of your story, one card for the main conflict, and one card for the resolution of that conflict.

what mindset do you need to embrace?

I feel like i've been in a bad mindset lately and I felt called to do a collective pick a card to help us find a better mindset to be in. I chose peter steele for the pictures for you to choose from, you're welcome.

PILE ONE

you guys got the chariot reversed, so I feel like people who chose this pile are chronically in the mindset that they always need to be grinding and productive in order to feel worthy. You need to embrace the mindset that while you are in control and in charge of your life, sometimes its ok to take the backseat and chill out a bit. you dont have to constantly be doing something or pushing your goals along, allow yourself the freedom to relax.

PILE TWO

you guys have the lovers reversed, so the mindset you guys may have to embrace is that you dont need to depend on anyone else romantically or platonically. You might want to be in the mindset that no matter who you loose or become disconnected with, you will always be ok, because you alone are enough. You need to embrace that regardless of who is in your life and regardless of the love someone shows you, you inherently enough as you are.

PILE THREE

this pile got the judgement reversed, I think the mindset that you may need to have is that your past is not who you are. you need to stop condemning yourself so hard or judging yourself by past mistakes. you need to embrace the mindset that this is a new era, take the past and use it as a lesson and not as something you need to outlive.

I pulled the 8 of swords reversed for this pile, you guys need to actually reject a certain mindset that is holding you back. this pile may be in a helpless, victim mindset that is making you feel like you have no control in life. while yes, your situation is unique and may make things harder, being in the mindset that there is nothing you can do and that your hands are completely tied is a delusion that serves to hurt you.

How to Make Tarot Spreads

Learn how to make your own tarot spread. This is based on my personal practice so feel free to customize it as needed!

I've written the steps out in a linear manner but they are not numbered. The reason for this is because the process itself is rarely linear (for me) and I tend to bounce between steps, changing things as I go until I've got the finished product.

On to the creation process!!

Think about a life event that you wish to have guidance on (or wished to have guidance on at the time). Or perhaps a situation that left you with many burning questions time and time again. These will be your main topic for the tarot spread.

You can also choose a topic that's easier and less hard-hitting like a new season, natural phenomenon, or celestial cycle (ie. the new moon in Leo, Taurus season approaching, the last frost, etc.) You can also pull from pop culture to create a tarot spread.

Pick a number, something manageable. I usually go between 3 and 7 cards, personally. Sometimes the number of cards you use will also be relevant to your spread if you hold certain beliefs about numbers. If this is the case then feel free to leverage this when creating cards!

Think about questions that the situation left you with or things you wished you'd thought about while going through the event. You'll use these to create prompts for the cards.

Choose a pattern, aka how your cards will lay once they've been pulled. This is the "spread".

Put it all together and you've got a spread! You can choose a title or not, I usually choose the title somewhere within the creation process as they just sorta come to me naturally. Sometimes the title comes first and I work from there.

Example:

Topic: I've been dealing with a breakup recently so that will be my topic for the spread. I'll walk you through my process.

Questions someone has when going through heartbreak are things like: What went wrong? Is this for the best? What did I do wrong? What did I do right? When will I feel ok again? What do I do now? Etc.

Pulling the Cards: Of course, you can choose the tried and true shuffle-and-pull method of pulling cards, but you can also get more creative with it.

I've chosen a "sandwich" method, where you shuffle the deck and find a specific card, then you pull out the card directly in front of and behind the card in question.

What do I think of when I think of tarot and breakups? The three of swords, a card notorious for being about heartbreak.

So, we'll look for the 3 of swords and pull out the card in front of and behind it. I will shuffle again and pull the 3rd card from wherever in the deck it calls to me.

Pattern: I want to keep with the theme of the 3 of swords so I plan on the 3 cards being pulled laying above and slightly angled, similar to the look of the original 3 of swords.

Prompts: Questions someone may have when going through heartbreak are things like, What went wrong? Is this for the best? What did I do wrong? What did I do right? When will I feel ok again? What do I do now? Etc.

Using these questions and emotions, I can come up with the card prompts.

PAC: why you should invest in yourself 🍷

I don’t know how some of these fundies get off. The fact that they can be stay at home wives in a “safe” way is due to feminism. We should all be investing in our skill sets, knowledge, personal freedoms, and self happiness. Because at the end of the day when it all goes to shit no one can take away your self love, your wisdom, your knowledge, your beauty inside and out. The crime it is to assume someones worth by an arbitrary title or connection. The fact that you live in the tender nature of the divine is worthy enough
