Fic under the cut
The milky way galaxy has four quadrants. Earth is close to the center of the Alpha Quadrant, the quadrant The Federation shares with The Klingon Empire (to which they are allied), The Romulan Empire, and unaffiliated planets. The founding members of The Federation are Vulcans, Tellarites, Humans, and Andorians. The Vulcans do not interfere with any species before they have faster-than-light warp drive technology, fearing to negatively alter their progression. This philosophy  known as The Prime Directive spread to the rest of The Federation. The Federation’s military branch is known as Starfleet, a Human dominated space exploration group structured after the old US Naval Forces, which includes members from Earth’s Beluga Whales to Klingons and even the capitalist Ferengi.
Starfleet's mission is “to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.” However they do a lot of recruiting of new member worlds which have recently discovered faster than light travel in addition to star charting and scientific observation.
Most space-faring Vulcans are part of the Vulcan Science Academy, which does its own scientific exploration. Commander T’alia and First Officer Bruce were different in a few regards from most other Vulcans. One, they did not mind how humans smell. Two, they decided to raise their child Damian aboard a starship rather than settling down on Vulcan for his adolescence. Three, they were high ranking officers in Starfleet. There are many high ranked Vulcan officers in starfleet. This is because they tend to rank up easily, and not because there are an abundance of Vulcans interested in joining up.
T’alia had a particular interest in xenoanthropology and the opportunity to live amongst a variety of cultures seemed the logical choice to provide her with mental stimulation. Bruce tended to work well with humans as he had some neuroses that caused him to act more emotionally. Compared to a human he was still overly logical, but he would be unfit for duty in the VSA.
Damian was a child of 14 years in age, and he was much shorter than the average height of a Vulcan his age. He had a short bowl cut with pointed sideburns, like any self-respecting Vulcan boy or man. His blood was green, giving his tan skin a green undertone, and his ears and eyebrows were pointed.
Damian tended to look grumpy whether he was holding his emotions in or not. And most of the time he was holding them in, as Vulcans are strict stoics. Once, they let their emotions rule them, and lived a miserable, war-torn existence, unable to focus on scientific efforts at all. They are still capable of great passion and violence today, but a great leader Surak offered a revolutionary teaching of emotional control that allowed them to reform their society and reach out to the stars. In Damian’s time, accusing a Vulcan of an emotional display was a grave insult. As a child, Damian often had trouble controlling his emotions and meditating, but he was a determined perfectionist, so he did better than most his age.
Damian loved living aboard a spaceship. He would bring his Sehlat named Goliath, a large saber toothed and shaggy-haired four-legged “living teddy bear”, around with him in the hallways, causing the uniformed officers aboard to scramble out of the way of the harmless animal, which always amused Damian. He was able to find the sweet spot in the ship where the gravity flipped and he could sit on the ceiling. The other children did not bother him, thinking him aloof and even creepy, so he was happy to spend his time conducting experiments and doing research while cuddled with his Sehlat.
Then, one day, their captain retired, and a new captain arrived onboard.
Captain Kal-El had worked hard to get where he was today. Krypton was a small empire that held only a few planets and had joined the federation when he was a baby. Krypton had its own space agency, but growing up when all things federation was still hot news, he had a fascination with federation history and the founding planets. He went to starfleet academy under the command division and served on several starships, where he met his wife Lois Lane, a human woman with unusual eyes. She was a reporter for The Daily Planet which despite originally covering earth news had expanded to cover the entire federation.
Kal married Lois when he got her unexpectedly pregnant. He took a leave of absence where he and his scientist father made sure the first Kryptonian-Human hybrid was born smoothly. Kal named him Jon-El. He raised Jon, taking him with him to the stars, being sure to serve on ships with daycare. Lois would live with them when she could get by with writing articles based on research she was handed by The Planet.
Jon loved space. He loved staring out of the windows when they were at warp, he loved learning about space anomalies, he loved the amazing views right outside of his window, he loved being allowed to go out there with his dad without an EV suit when his father deemed it safe enough. At thirteen years old, Jon had developed all of his father’s sunlight-gifted powers. He liked to volunteer at the daycare when his dad was busy with work, flying the younger kids around, dressing up as superheroes, acting out plays with him as the monster.
To his credit, Jon kind of was a superhero. When the ship was damaged, Jon was able to seal holes in the hull with his laser vision, he was able to lift collapsed beams out of the way of the hallways or off of people, he was able to speed people to safer decks and rescue people who were sucked out into space before it was too late for the doctors to revive them. He wasn’t hurt by most things, a phaser set to vaporize could only stun him, and no enemies they encountered ever had kryptonite.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that Jon was a big part of his father’s ability to get promoted. Kal would do the important decision making and deal with attacks and away missions, but Jon was there to make sure when things went wrong they didn’t go too wrong. Of course, not even Jon could save everyone. It was a pain to be able to hear their cries as they died and he could do nothing. But for the most part, Jon was very proud of himself. He didn’t need praise because it was rewarding work on its own. It was expected that Jon would become a uniformed officer when he grew up, because he nearly already was one.
Despite seeming like a perfect fit for security or command, Jon loved science. It was his favorite subject in school and he liked to pretend to be a scientist on the holodeck, a room in the ship that used holograms and replicators to provide a convincing experience of whatever the programmer wanted to create.
At 13, Jon loved playing baseball. He would dress up and go to the holodeck and play with his holographic teammates, he had tried every role at every level of difficulty. He had read a lot of old holonovels about the ancient earth sport and had come up with his own replicator program for big league chew, which he would eat on the fake field.
Jon was accustomed to changing ships, but he was still very proud of his dad for getting promoted to captain of the USS Apollo (NCC-1994), a constitution class ship with lots of civilians. Maybe one of the children would be Jon’s friend. Jon had always wanted a best friend. He never told his parents, but he was actually very lonely.
Damian met Jon-El right after Kal-El had his formal introduction to the ship as captain. Kal-El met with his new first officer, hand on Jon’s shoulder, and Bruce had been walking in step with Damian, both of them with their hands held behind their back. Immediately he was fascinated. Damian had never met a Kryptonian, much less the first Kryptonian-Human hybrid in the universe. His hair looked soft and curly, as bouncy as the boy himself. His ears were so round and pink, like a seashell. Of course, Damian had seen plenty of ears like those, but he had never considered them before. They looked soft.
His eyes were an unusual deep violet blue, his nose was small, round, and cute. He had thin pink lips and long eyelashes, and freckles on his cheeks. He reached his hand out to shake Damian’s and Damian’s stomach felt weird. He knew it was inappropriate but he wanted to take the offered hand, to feel it against his. He blushed a deep green.
“Hi, I’m Jon! I’ve never met a Vulcan before. I did not know they were so pretty!”
Damian coughed, embarrassed and excited, and embarrassed by his excitement. “Hello, Jon. I am Damian. Vulcans do not shake hands in greeting.” He said, indicating Jon’s outstretched arm with a nod of his chin. “I have never met a Kryptonian prior to this occasion either. I find you aesthetically pleasing as well.”
Jon blushed and Damian knew he wanted to see Jon’s face more often after this. So he decided to observe him.
Jon started going to his school and Damian sat a far distance away from Jon so as not to interfere with his behavior, observing him more than he was paying attention in class. He followed Jon to lunch and paid rapt attention to what he ate and his reaction to it. Once Jon made to leave, Damian would slip in and order the same thing, to taste it himself and compare their reactions. This unfortunately led to an embarrassing incident at home when he had eaten some chocolate cake, luckily only his parents bore witness to that.
Jon noticed his attention. Jon would look at Damian through the bulkheads after he would distance himself and he noticed him writing in his Personal Access Display Device. Jon decided that Damian stalking him must mean that he wanted to be friends but was too shy to say anything, so he floated over and sat down next to Damian, who had been too absorbed in his writing to notice Jon.
“Hi! I noticed you stalking me. Do you want to be friends?”
Damian startled. “Jon. I was not stalking you, I was conducting scientific study on your behavior and habits.”
“Well, wouldn’t you get to know me better if you actually talked to me and stuff?”
“Interference with the subject contaminates my data. The fact that you noticed my observation means my results are already scientifically invalid.” Damian said, deleting his file.
“Aw, you didn’t have to do that! But you know what, if it’s already messed up, then you can just talk to me and learn about me the normal way.”
“I suppose I could continue to study you informally.”
“Great!”
“I notice that you replicate a custom formula a lot. I have been trying your food but I do not have access to your program. What is it?”
Jon smiled and pulled out a small package. “It’s called big league chew! On earth, they used to play this game called baseball, where you have 5 bases and you run around them based on how you hit a ball and if or how or when it’s caught. I play it a lot. I read in a holonovel that they used to chew tobacco, but when they found out that was bad for them, they switched to this special gum. The legend goes that it improves your playing. But they don’t sell it anymore, cause nobody plays baseball ‘cept me. Oh, but I heard Vulcans are really good at baseball! Would you play with me?”
“Hm, I suppose I am curious.”
“Sweet! Do you want to try it? I don’t know if I’ve got it right yet but I like it.”
Damian took a pinch of the gum between his finger and thumb and chewed it. It was bubblegum flavored.
“You’re not supposed to swallow gum, but I do, because I don’t like to litter and I wouldn’t know where else to put it when the flavor runs out.”
Damian pressed the gum flat to the roof of his mouth, then moved the flat piece down to his lips, pursed them, and blew a bubble.
“Wow! That was awesome! I didn’t know you could do that!”
Damian pulled the gum out of his mouth and held it in his hand. “I think I can improve the formula to make the bubbles bigger and the taste more palatable to a human tongue.”
“Go for it! Share it with me if you do!”
“Very well, I shall. I have to go to my quarters to do it.”
“I’ll come with you! I’ve got nothing to do anyway.”
Damian sighed. “If you insist. Come along, Jon. You can meet my Sehlat.”
“What’s a Sehlat?”
“A Vulcan Teddy Bear.”
When they arrived at Damian’s family quarters, Goliath bounded up to them. “Meet Goliath.”
“Is this your teddy bear?” Jon asked.
“Yes.” Damian petted him.
“Can I pet him?”
“You are not afraid of him?” Damian asked, quirking a brow.
“No? You said he’s a teddy bear.”
Damian nodded. “You may pet him.”
Jon pet Goliath and Goliath stepped aside to allow them entry. Jon cuddled up with Goliath on his mat while Damian looked into the composition of the gum. Jon talked at him about various things for two hours until Damian completed the program and replicated it. He tried it and blew a large bubble, then gave it to Jon, who enthusiastically did the same.
“This is great! I didn’t know it would be so chalky, but that helps it not melt together! Thanks!”
“You are welcome, Jon. Now that it is a success, I will publish it. Would you like to be the co-creator?”
“Your name and mine next to each other? I like the sound of that!” Jon said cheerily. Damian turned away with a slight blush and published the program. T’alia came into the room.
“Damian, you did not tell me we would be having a guest.”
“I apologize, mother. It was unplanned.”
“An apology is unnecessary. Introduce me.”
Damian bowed his head. “This is Jon-El, son of Kal-El and Lois Lane, Investigative Journalist. He is tall for his age and has inherited all of his father’s powers. He enjoys–”
T’alia raised her hand to silence him. “I do not need the full dissertation. The information you have given me will suffice.”
Damian tried not to pout.
“Hi Damian’s mom!” Jon said.
“Hello Jon. I am T’alia. Is it your preference to stay for supper?”
“Uh… I’ll call my dad. If he’s too busy to eat with me, then yes.”
T’alia began cooking with her preserved ingredients from her last visit to Vulcan. She was making a soup not unlike bamboo curry.
Jon called his dad, who apologized for being busy, so Jon, T’alia, and Damian ate together while Bruce and Kal were working.
“Thish ish spicy!” Jon said.
“Is it too much for you?” T’alia asked. Damian watched with fascination as his face flushed.
“I’ll be fine! I just gotta replicate some rice to go with it. Excuse me.”
Damian stood up first. “I will go replicate you white jasmine steamed rice and a glass of milk. You are our guest. Excuse me.”
Jon relaxed against his chair, spoon in hand. Damian came back with the rice and milk and Jon beamed at him and had a much better time eating the meal.
The next day, Damian met Jon in the holodeck.
“So, Damian, It’s time I teach you the rules of baseball.” Jon said, stepping into the holodeck and calling up the program. He handed Damian a uniform. “Go change in the locker room.” he pointed to the dugout.
Once Damian got changed, Jon told Damian all of the rules of baseball and they practiced pitching and catching and batting. The next day they played a real game and Jon had a lot of fun working with Damian’s unique strategy. Damian was having fun too, though he would not admit it.
After the great success that was baseball, Jon decided to let Damian in on his pretend scientist program. Having someone familiar with the scientific method enhanced the play significantly, and Jon learned a lot about xenobiology and xenobotany.
“Damian, I really love animal xenobiology, but I don’t know how to find stuff on the net or how to read all the big words. Can you help me?”
“Certainly, Jon. Seeking scientific knowledge is admirable.”
Damian showed Jon a website to search through scientific articles and showed him how to search for what he wanted. They read articles together so Damian could explain what they just read, and Jon was starting to put it all together and have a larger vocabulary.
Kal-El wondered why Jon was using such big words so suddenly, but Lois was convinced it was her journalism rubbing off on him.
They had their first sleepover and they stayed up all night reading about the convergent evolution of striped pollinators on different M-class planets. After that they started exchanging holonovel recommendations. Damian would recommend nonfiction books he’d read years prior that were at Jon’s reading level, and Jon would recommend Damian the biggest chapter books that he had ever finished. They liked to play the holodeck adventure adaptation of these holonovels, and their favorite was The Magic Treehouse. Jon enjoyed the educational and story-telling aspects of the program and Damian enjoyed the stimulating visuals and the exercise he was able to get. He was very pleased when he saw Jon enjoying himself, longing to paint that buoyant smile.
Damian started getting in trouble for talking in class, though Jon was well-versed in talking during class and knew when to be quiet and not get caught, unlike Damian who had never even attempted to break the rules before.
Damian didn’t like to be touched by Jon. He had not communicated that he felt his touch telepathy was an invasion of poor unshielded Jon’s privacy. However, he did enjoy it when Jon flew him around in the corridors. He’d pick him up in a piggy back ride, or hold him to his chest, and one time Damian rode him like a skateboard before promptly falling off and being caught by Jon. The boys would get in trouble whenever they were discovered flying around, unless there was an emergency, in which case Bruce and T’alia were just thankful Jon was around to protect their son.
One day Jon visited Damian to find him painting.
“Whatcha doin’?”
“Hello Jon. I am painting this edosian orchid. Would you like to join me?”
“Sure.”
Damian directed him as to where to find the second easel, which was not kid height, but Jon could fly. Jon started painting a simplified stylized orchid. They worked together silently until Jon was finished.
“Done! Do you wanna see?”
“Of course.”
Damian put his brush down to look at Jon’s painting. “Why did you paint those outlines?”
Jon laughed. “Of course vulcans would only teach their kids realism… Dami, call it a cartoon or whatever you like, but there’s way more styles than just photo-realism.”
“Hm… How do you know what to draw if you’re not directly copying it?”
“Oh, how to explain… It’s like, I notice certain things about it that stand out to me and I focus on it, giving it highlights or stark outlines or bright colors to draw attention to what I find important about the subject.”
“So it is an insight as to how you see the world. Fascinating.”
“Do you want to try?”
“Oh… I couldn’t possibly…”
Jon shrugged. “Suit yourself.”
“I mean… maybe if you help me…” Damian flushed, embarrassed.
“Great! And hey, you can teach me how you get your stuff so realistic after!”
“I agree to your terms.”
“What, no hand shake?” Jon teased. Damian blushed.
“I– What?”
Jon smiled bemusedly. “You know, clasping hands, to show agreement or greeting.”
“Do you not think that is somewhat forward?”
“Not really.” Jon shrugged. Damian shivered.
“To answer your question, no ‘handshake’.”
“Okay. Hey, let's do some sketches on paper while we let our paintings dry!”
Damian nodded distractedly.
A few days later they’re walking down the hallway, not flying for once. Jon told Damian that it was because he didn’t want to get in trouble, but in reality he had a plan. He noticed Damian did not like being hugged or nuzzled, but Jon had read that sometimes people prefer holding hands for comfort. So with their hands swinging between them, Jon slid his fingers between Damian’s and held his hand.
Damian appeared to short-circuit and stopped in the middle of the hallway. Jon stared at him, apprehensive and curious about his reaction.
“W-Why are we making out?” Damian said in a high pitch, face awash with green. Jon thought it looked rather beautiful.
“Huh? What do you mean? My lips aren’t touching you?” Jon said, noticing Damian staring at their hands with wide eyes.
“You kiss with your lips, and yet you eat, talk, and breathe with them as well. How curious.”
“...So, If we’re kissing right now…” Jon trailed off, looking at their hands. ”Why aren’t you pulling away?” Jon gasped. “Do you li~ke me?”
“Tt.” Damian pulled his hand away roughly, trying to fight any reaction at the friction it caused. “In your dreams.” Damian looked away.
“Sounds like my dreams are pretty mundane.” Jon said, leaning into Damian’s face.
Damian tilted his head, considering. “It is only fair that I return the opportunity to experience a new stimulus.” Damian pressed his warm, dry lips to Jon’s soft ones for as long as it took for Jon’s eyes to slip closed. He pulled away. “That is so weird…” Damian said, turning and walking down the hallway.
Jon put his fingers to his lips, blushing red. “W-Wait up! Damian!” Jon flew after him.
When Damian arrived home he went to his mom. “Mother, I am being affected by an anomaly.”
“What kind of anomaly?”
“Unknown. It seems to be related to Jon-El. Whenever he is around, I feel warm, even though we are often in colder places than our quarters. I cannot focus on other things when we are together. It is hard to keep my hands off of him, especially when he welcomes the contact. I can’t sleep at night thinking about what his mind might feel like. This obsession is uncharacteristic of my lived experiences thus far. I do not even think these things about my wife.”
“Damian, You are having your first love.”
“Love is illogical.”
“You’re right about that. But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. I married your father because I love him, not because of logic.”
“I already have a future spouse.”
“Bruce was not my original bondmate. I chose him as my champion to fight the man my father chose for me during his first pon farr. He fell in love with me afterwards. You may think it is illogical to change bondmates, but have you considered that it is illogical to waste time marrying without love when you could both find love in others?”
“But Jon cannot produce an heir with me. What is the logic in marrying a male?”
“It is good to know the natural biology of our species, but we have progressed past that scientifically. If you were to have a hybrid baby, it would have to be nurtured in an artificial womb regardless, and in such a method, Jon-El is perfectly capable of providing the genetic material.”
“...Thank you, Mother, I shall consider this further.”
That night Damian had trouble meditating, until he decided he would mind-meld with Jon to test their compatibility once and for all.
“Jon, it has come to my attention that we are potentially romantically compatible. Will you allow me to meld with your mind to ascertain our suitability?” Damian spoke, hands clasped in front of him as they sat at their lunch table.
Jon tilted his head questioningly. “Are you asking me out right now?”
Damian furrowed his brows. “I am not familiar with that phrase.”
“It means like, to ask someone to be in a romantic relationship with you.”
“I am not asking that yet. I am asking if you will allow me to share your mind so I can assess how well such a relationship would work.”
“Will it hurt?”
Damian allowed some of his surprise to show on his face. “No. It is a spiritual experience, a channel between our souls. We would be sharing our minds and hearts.”
Jon blushed. “Sounds intense… But what if you don’t like it?”
Damian quirked a brow. “What if you don’t like it?”
“Well obviously you’d still be my bestest friend in the universe– Oh, I get it! You’re saying it’ll be fine! Um, okay, so… will it be like kissing? Cuz I liked that a whole lot.”
Damian nodded. It is infinitely more intimate.”
“I’m in. What do I need to do?”
“Meet me in my quarters after school. You can borrow one of my meditation robes. Are you allergic to any incense fragrance?”
Jon shook his head. “Kryptonian, remember? I’ve got two weaknesses; lack of sunlight and kryptonite.”
“I shall choose my favorite scent, in that case. We shall meet at the appointed place.” Damian said, standing up to leave.
“Where’re you going? School isn’t over!”
“I am going to prepare. I have already completed today’s assignments.” Damian bowed to Jon and told the teacher that he was going home.
At home Damian took a sonic shower and dressed in his most formal meditation robes. He fussed with his bangs in the mirror, making sure they laid just right. Then, he prepared his room for the meld, lighting incense and setting out two meditation pillows facing each other. Damian fought his giddy feel from bubbling up as he waited for Jon to arrive.
Jon came in with his backpack and greeted Damian happily at his door. Damian took Jon’s bag and offered him the robes, returning to his room to put the bag away. Jon came back in, luckily the robes were loose on Damian so they fit Jon.
“Sit.” Damian said, kneeling on one of the pillows. Jon tried to copy his posture. “Take deep breaths and try to relax.” Damian put his fingers on the psi-points along Jon’s temples. “My mind to your mind. Our minds are merging. Our minds are becoming one.”
Damian stood in Jon’s mindscape. It had a pink sky and was full of all sorts of creatures they had researched together. Five Jons popped up around Damian, putting their faces close to his, holding onto him, hugging him, smiling brightly. Jon and Damian were both naked and glowing a bright gold, without genitals. “Hi Damian!” The sky turned a happy yellow.
Damian chuckled. “Hello, Jon.”
They gasped. “You! You’re smiling!”
Damian shrugged. “Your excitement is endearing and amusing. Can you contain it to one form?”
Jon looked down at himself, realizing that he was in fact five people. “Uh… How?”
“Just think about it happening.”
Jon concentrated and returned to one person, hugging Damian like a cape. “Hi.” He said in Damian’s ear. “Your ears are pretty.”
“Yours are as well.”
The sky seemed to pulse in laughter. “So… What do you think of my mind?” A purple mist drifted in.
“You do not have to be so anxious, Jon. I love being in your mind.”
The mist was blown off into the atmosphere, the sky shining a bright pink. “You do? Well I love you being here! I never noticed how lonely it was in here before.”
“If you married me, you would never have to be alone again.”
“You want to marry me?!”
“Yes. Jon, come with me, I will show you my Katra.”
“Okay. I’ll follow you anywhere. Why did I say that? I meant to just think it.”
“You cannot hide your feelings in a mind meld, at least psychically weak individuals such as children and psi-null species cannot.” Damian took Jon’s hand and pulled him across into his mind. The pink followed them and flowed into Damian’s grey, lighting the place up with puffy clouds and bright yellow stars. Damian’s mindscape was a desert with red sand and vulcan plants, the sky grey and orange, with Sehlats and organized piles of junk. Damian watched the yellow stars twinkle. ”That’s never happened before.”
“What hasn’t?”
“Look over there.” Damian pointed across the link, where in the distance Damian’s mindscape blended into Jon’s. Jon’s had orange clouds blending in the sky and vulcan plants cropping up.
“It looks like you’re becoming a part of me.” Jon looked up. “And I’m becoming part of you.”
Damian grinned. “Do you know what this means?!”
“Dami, you’re silly. Of course I don’t, this is my first mind meld.”
Damian spun Jon around happily. “We are T’hy’la! Do you know how rare that is?”
“What’s T’hy’la?”
Damian closed his eyes and scanned Jon’s vocabulary like a glossary. It tingled a bit. “The closest term you are familiar with is soulmate. It means friend, brother-in-arms, lover.”
“So… we’re dating?”
Damian laughed. “Oh my beautiful K’diwa, we are not just dating, we are legally married by vulcan law. You are my husband.”
“Oh.” Jon giggled. “My dad’s gonna be so pissed!”
“He will have to ‘deal with it’. This is irreversible, even if it were possible it would be criminal to do so. T’hy’la connections are rare and sacred.”
“He could prevent us from seeing each other until I turn 18…”
“‘Parted from me and never parted, never and always touching and touched.’” Damian quoted. “It will become apparent what that means when I end the meld.”
“Wait, don’t end it yet! This is so cool, like a lucid dream that you’re in with me.”
“Alright, Jon. What do you wish to do?”
“Um. Can I have another kiss?”
“Of course, K’diwa. Let me show you ozh’esta.” Damian held two fingers out, pressed together. “Hold your hand up like this.” Jon did and Damian pressed their fingers together, lengthwise against width, palm to palm, rubbing them together.
“I felt you enjoying that!”
“That is the most appropriate kiss to do in public.”
Jon nodded. “Ok now let me kiss you my way.” Jon said, leaning in and tilting his head to the side. They kissed both ways and birds sang out around them. Jon pulled away. “Wow… I could do that forever.”
“According to my internal clock we were doing that for an hour, so I doubt your hyperbole very little.”
“What?! Oh my god, I didn’t even tell my dad I was coming over!”
“Calm down, Ashayam, you’ll break the–”
Jon gasped, suddenly back in his body. “...Link. Jon, are you okay? I had intended to end the meld more peacefully.”
“Sorry! I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“I am well, Ashayam. Can you feel me in your mind? Close your eyes.”
Jon closed his eyes and focused on his sensations, until he felt a thread of awareness and tugged on it. It was like a cup and string telephone in his head that he could send and receive feelings as well as thoughts through. Or at least, that’s how he imagined it. “Can you hear me?” He spoke through it.
“Yes, tal-kam.”
“Woah, cool. It’s like we have our own comm badges. How far is the range?”
“As far as I know the strength and delay of the signals is dependent on psychic synergy and emotional connection rather than physical distance.”
“Wow.”
“Another benefit is that nobody can hear us, aside from betazoids.”
“We can talk in class without you getting in trouble! Oh, and like, this could be super useful on missions or something.”
“I will of course teach you how to psychically shield so that you do not share anything with me that you do not wish to.”
“Why would I hide anything from my husband?”
“Everyone requires solitude occasionally.”
“So, now I know you have emotions. I mean, I can feel ‘em.”
“Tt. Of course vulcans have emotions. We are extremely passionate. But yes, you are now privy to my emotional state.”
Jon stared at Damian’s mouth as he talked. “Can I kiss you?” Jon asked, causing Damian to blush.
“A-hem.” Kal said, clearing his throat, hovering with his arms crossed. “Jon? Come here.”
Jon smiled sheepishly. “Hi dad…”
“I apologize for not informing you that I invited your son over, Captain.” Damian said, bowing his head.
“This isn’t your fault, Damian. Jon should have told me he was going to be visiting you.”
“I thought I’d be back before you got home!”
“But you got caught up doing… whatever you were doing. Staring at each other in a dark smelly room? Are you playing pretend cultists?”
“No, Dad, it’s way cooler. Me and Damian are gonna get married.”
Kal arched his eyebrow. “Are you now? Do Damian’s parents know about this?”
“I believe my mother knows, but Jon made an error in his statement. We are, under vulcan laws, already legally married. All that is needed to finalize the paperwork is to be checked over by a vulcan mind-healer.”
Kal furrowed his eyebrows. “Damian, under human and kryptonian laws, Jon is not allowed to be legally married until he turns 18.”
Jon tilted his head. “Does that mean Damian is married to me but I’m not married to him? Does that make him my husband or me his husband?”
“I believe that would make you my husband and me your best friend.” Damian replied.
“That is… not the point. Hold on. Kal-El to Bruce.”
“Yes Captain?”
“Your son is saying he is married to my son? Can you come to your quarters to help sort out this misunderstanding?”
“I will be there right away with his Mother. Bruce out.”
Damian made tea while Jon and Kal sat on the couch in the living room of the family quarters. T’alia arrived first. “Damian, your father said you got into trouble?”
“I did not get into trouble, Mother, I got married.”
T’alia looked at Jon. “Damian, we have no vulcan mind-healers on board.”
“It was unnecessary.” Damian said, sipping his tea. Bruce arrived.
“T’alia, attend.” Bruce said, holding his hand out for an ozh’esta. T’alia strode over to him to give him a kiss in greeting.
“Damian, why have you claimed to have married Captain El’s son?” Bruce asked.
“I experienced my first crush and Mother advised me to consider a relationship with Jon. I decided to mind-meld with him in order to test our compatibility. When I did, I discovered we are T’hy’la.”
Bruce looked as shocked as Kal had ever seen him.
“Congratulations, Damian. This is a momentous occasion. Shall I make your favorite dessert?” T’alia said. Bruce looked at her, surprised.
“How can we be sure the boy is not simply mistaken?” Bruce asked.
“Father, if you require me to prove it, I shall. Take us to vulcan.”
“Damian has always been a very imaginative child, Kal, I apologize–”
Jon tugged at Kal’s sleeve to get his attention and gave him puppy-dog eyes. “Pleeease?”
Kal closed his eyes, but all he could see in his mind’s eye was the face Jon was no doubt still making. He sighed. “Alright, Jon. We can go to vulcan. Far be it from me to gaslight my own child.”
“Captain that is wildly off course–” Bruce interjected.
“Our current mission is not vital. It can wait a few days.”
Jon could feel Damian’s smugness through the link. “Damian will have persimmon pudding for dessert, Ms. T’alia.” Jon said, smiling.
“Would you like to stay for dinner, Captain?”
Kal made the mistake of looking at Jon again. He sighed. “Very well. It is always good to foster a strong relationship with my second in command.”
Bruce sighed internally. He had wanted Bajoran crepes.
Jon raced down the corridors to his room and back. “We can play monopoly while we wait for Ms. Talia to cook the food!”
“Jon, Monopoly is a little bit controversial, don’t you think?”
“Aw, come on dad, they’re vulcans, they’re not gonna get mad.”
Bruce looked at the board game skeptically. “If you two truly are married, this will give you an unfair advantage.”
“Perhaps you may take it as proof, father.”
Kal grinned. “Scared of losing to a child?”
Bruce scoffed. “I will play this game, and best all three of you.”
They began to play but did not finish before dinner was served, though Damian and Jon had come closest to winning.
When they reached Vulcan, Damian had a great time showing Jon around his home planet. Jon was not adversely affected by the heat unlike Lois who met them in orbit and was in the most insulating and covering material they could replicate and still taking medication to adjust to the atmosphere. She may as well have been wearing an EV suit but it was the thought that counted.
Jon and Damian were alone in the room with the mind healer, though their parents were watching, Lois, Bruce and T'alia through a screen and Kal through the wall.
The mind healer touched both of their heads and closed her eyes. After fifteen minutes she opened her eyes and spoke ancient Vulcan, then signed a Padd and uploaded the file. She ushered the boys out of the room to meet their parents.
"Damian explained the unusual situation that lead to him having a one-sided marriage with his T'hy'la, so I added a clause in the marriage contract that Jon would also be married to Damian on his 18th birthday."
"Unless the marriage is annulled, right?" Lois asked.
She looked at her with a quirked brow. "I'm afraid you won't find a healer willing to annul the marriage of such a strong t'hy'la pair. Ancient superstition would suggest that these two will become renowned in time. Though the link between feats of heroism and T'hy'la bonds are not well studied, as so few cases exist. That brings me to the topic of scientific study; Do you release your sons’ medical records for study?"
"Of course." T'alia said, Bruce just nodded.
"Well… the house of El are scientists, isn't that right Jon?" Jon smiled and nodded. "But I'll have to let Lois decide that." Clark answered.
"Can you wait until he turns 18?" Lois asked.
"As you wish. Kal-El, Lois Lane, you should expect the wedding on Damian's 21st birthday. You may hold whatever human or kryptonian ceremonies whenever you wish. Contact us if you have any more questions. I will take my leave." She bowed her head to everyone and walked away. Jon and Damian had been talking the whole time in their minds and so did not notice her leave.
"Come on Damian, if you hold my hand my parents won't know what it means."
"No. We are on Vulcan, with my Vulcan parents, who will very much know what it means, K'diwa."
"Then kiss me on the lips! Your parents won't know what it means."
"I'm sure my parents must have observed their human shipmates kissing at some point."
Jon pouted. "But it's our wedding day."
"The culturally significant date will be on my 21st birthday. Relative to human culture, this is our engagement ceremony."
"Would you guys mind if I kissed my husband?" Jon asked loudly, puffing his cheeks out.
"Jon, you do not have a husband yet. You are my husband." Damian corrected.
"You're both too young to be kissing." Kal said, rubbing his forehead. "Dear Rao, how am I going to get you two to behave properly when you can speak telepathically?"
"Wait until you're older, Jon." Lois said sternly.
Jon narrowed his eyes at his parents and without breaking eye contact grabbed Damian's hand, who froze up and let out a small gasp. Jon smirked at Damian's wordless flustered screaming coming from the link. T'alia and Bruce shared a look. "How are you gonna stop me? I've got all of Dad's powers, I'm faster, and now I'm psychic."
Damian looked at Jon's face and tried to say something but he was too flustered to speak.
T'alia and Bruce decided not to tell Kal and Lois about the significance of the gesture, but gave Damian matching reproving looks.
"Ashayam, please, this is indecent."
"You say that but I know you don't really want me to stop."
"My love, it does not matter how I feel, what matters is what is logical. Please respect my choice."
Jon let go of Damian's hand and kissed his cheek, then stuck his tongue out at his parents.
"Jon-El, if you do not respect our decisions as parents we will ground you and you will not be allowed to see Damian at all." Lois said
"It's not fa-air," Jon whined. "Other people get to kiss their husbands."
"You're thirteen! Life isn't fair! I'm sorry you found out you were t'hy'la with Damian as a preteen but that's just your rotten luck." Lois said.
"Whatever. When will I be old enough to kiss him?"
"Can you wait one year?" Lois said with her hands on her hips.
"No, but I'll try…"
As the years went on, Damian and Jon were finally allowed to be together. Damian enrolled in starfleet academy for engineering as soon as he turned eighteen, and they dated long distance.
Everyone expected Jon to choose the command track like his father but he chose science and roomed with Damian. They made out a lot but did not have sex since Damian explained that he would become sexually mature all at once when he turned 21 and went into a kind of heat called the pon farr, which would recur every 7 years afterward.
Jon was willing to be patient, but he got asked out a lot. He always turned people down and would have to rush out of the room to go soothe Damian's jealous rage. Under a pen name, Jon wrote a fictionalized memoir about meeting and falling for his T'hy'la which was read widely by the students at the academy.
It might seem obvious that students expressly interested in seeking out new life and new civilizations would be xenophiles, but Jon hadn't expected the response to his book to be every Vulcan in the area getting constantly hit on, including his own.
It got to the point that every time an unfamiliar student approached Damian, he had to ask Jon through their link if he was being flirted with. If Jon said he was, Damian would say "The thought of cheating on my T'hy'la makes me physically ill. Excuse me." Before swiftly walking away.
Word spread that Damian had a T'hy'la and he became very popular. People would go to him for dating advice or ask him questions about his bond that he would always answer truthfully and with scientific language, often oversharing.
Damian and Jon took a leave of absence from the academy for Damian's 21st birthday and their wedding, and news got out about the first Vulcan-Kryptonian union and spread around campus, which was when people finally put two and two together about them being together.
When they graduated, they spent the first 5 years serving on different ships until Damian got a promotion and transferred to Jon's ship.
Jon was often assigned to away missions since he was the most durable science officer they had, much to Jon's glee since he had so much new xenobiology to study. He wasn't able to publish anything for a long while because he kept having to start new projects, but finally he started using his superspeed before bed as Damian meditated and earned his first promotion to Lieutenant Jr grade.
After Jon got more attention from the higher ranking officers, saving their lives often, he ranked up quickly. He was able to make Captain and have Damian as his chief engineer before his father became admiral.
Damian fell in love with their ship and they treated her like their child, too busy to settle down. But then again, with such long lifespans, together they had all the time in the world.

FOR THE RECORD | OH SEHUN IMAGINE
Tumblr media
For the past couple months Talia has been hiding from her family that she has a boyfriend, Sehun wasn't a stranger to them since he has been her best friend for years now, it wasn't a no brainer that she and him liked each other more than friends yet when it came time for her to tell her family that he is in fact her boyfriend, she backed out of the plan last minute and it put her in a tough spot when her dad invited Sehun on vacation. The whole thing left her l hesitant on the whole trip but she knew that her dad liked having him around since he had only daughters and not one son.
Now it was going to be Sehun, Talia and her entire family under one roof for a week. What could possibly go wrong?
Talia stood next to her boyfriend Sehun taking in the house they'd be staying in for the next couple of days. The home is a beautiful two story home with five bedrooms and three and half bathrooms for everyone to use and she was lucky enough to have a room for herself since she is old enough. Since becoming twenty one years old her parents gave her more freedom yet her dad still isn't too keen on her having a boyfriend.
Talia turns to face Sehun with a frown, "are you positive that you are okay with this?"
He raises an eyebrow in a funny matter making her drop her serious demeanor for a warm smile, "Of course. This is like the one time we went on vacation in Aspen," he pauses leaning more towards her ear "expect this time, I can't fuck you when I want to."
Her eyes widen at his vulgarities, pushing him away from her playfully. "Stop it! My dad is literally right behind us."
Sehun looks over his shoulder to see her dad talking on the phone and chuckles at how paranoid she is being. "Like he can hear anything, that man is glued to his phone."
"Anyways, I am okay with being under the same roof as your family." Sehun adds.
Taking in a deep breath of air, Talia listened to her mother from the car about her bag, pinching the bridge of her nose. "This is going to be a long week," She grabbed her bags from the ground and followed the pathway to the front door of the house with Sehun right behind her humming a tune.
Trudging her way up the stairs to put her things up in the room. As soon as her and Sehun were on the second floor of the house, he took the opportunity to grab a handful of her butt and giving it a good squeeze that made her let out a gasp. He is fond of her butt and couldn't resist touching it whenever he had a chance. He smirked when she turned around with flushed cheeks, he continues to play innocent and gestures to the door across the hallway that was labeled with his name in bubble letters. As he walked away he reached back and grabbed her ass one more time.
Talia stood there for a moment to gather herself together, going in her assigned room which reminded her of her room back at her parent's house and it felt like home to her.
Running a hand across the silk blanket that put a little smile on her face, it reminded her of the first time with Sehun, although it happened months ago it was still fresh in her mind.
Taking a seat on the bed, taking in what the room had to offer and she noticed a picture on the night stand beside the bed that took her by surprise. It was a picture of when she was in middle school, she stood in between her dad and Sehun with a smile so bright that made her do the same at the old picture.
Those were the two important men in Talia's life and it upset her to know she couldn't tell her dad how happy she is. One day.
Closing the door on her way out, bumping into someone with a larger mass, at first she assumed it was Sehun but she was greeted by her uncle Ray whom he looks exactly like her dad. She apologizes for bumping into him and he simply waved her off.
"I was just downstairs and that friend of yours, Sehun is quite the charmer. Why haven't I met him before, niece?" Her uncle crosses his arms with a smug expression decorating his face.
"Uncle Ray I know you. I was afraid you would steal my best friend from me ." He looked at you with amusement
"Or should I say your boyfriend," He winks causing her to hands to fly for his mouth and looking around the empty hallway hoping no one heard him.
If anyone were to figure it out, it would be him. It's always him.
Removing your hand from his mouth and clearing your throat before speaking, "Sehun is my boyfriend. Dad, is still hell bent on me dating. I know I should tell him but I don't want to disappoint him."
"Oh, honey. It's best to tell him before he finds out himself. Don't worry about your dad I can deal with him for the time being." Her uncle understood where she were coming from.
"Thank you, Uncle Ray." She nudge him with your shoulder as a playful gesture, "He is good looking right?"
"Yes be very much is."
the conversation was cut short when everyone got called for to meet in the front room and she became confused as to why they got called.
When Talia entered the living room , she noticed Sehun sitting by himself furtherest to the left of her and he gestured for her to sit next to him on the couch. Taking the spot next to him, looking around the room and rolling her eyes because she knew her father was going to make a speech.
Adverting her attention Sehun, he scrolled through his Instagram feed which consisted of his friends who were also on vacation. Before she could say something to him, her dad stood in front of everyone and started talking about the whole trip.
The whole speak made her cringe because he does this every year and it deeply annoyed her how extra he was. She zoned out for a moment not caring for what was being said and she snapped out of her trance like stare when she felt Sehun's fingers tracing circles on the exposed skin from the rip in her jeans.
Pushing away Sehun's hand in fear that someone saw, he kept his attention on what her father was saying and she scooted away from him. The whole bit of him touching her didn't bother her any other time but right now wasn't the best time.
As her father ended his whole speech, he then said that he would be going to check out the downtown area until it came time for dinner later tonight. The idea wasn't so bad but Talia preferred to stay in. Instead of joining the family downtown she opted to stay behind, to her luck her dad didn't put up much of a fight and allowed her to stay at the house.
Taking it upon herself to set up the living room to watch something on Netflix to pass the time until everyone got back. She decided to put on the show that everyone has been telling you to check out and apparently people assumed she'd like so she had to check it out. After the first two episodes she got joined on the couch by Sehun and she noticed he changed out from his clothes from earlier into sweats and a shirt.
"What are you watching?" He wraps his arm around her shoulder and letting lay her head on his shoulder and taking in his warmth since the AC is blowing cold air.
"Day Break. You haven't missed much, though." She reaches for a remote that control the lights in said room.
"Ah, I see." Sehun slowly spoke as the scene ensued across the television screen. it  took you by surprise that he was actually watching the show since he had a short attention span when it came to certain things.
Although he was into the show, she wasn't and constantly keep staring at him instead.
Without any hesitation she moves a hand from his chest slowly to his sweatpants, she gently ghosted her palm over his manhood before softly massaging him through the fine material of his pants. Her eyes flicked to his face, hoping he'd to notice that you were down there and he didn't seem to be phased by the sudden contact as he kept his eyes on the flat screen that was the only source of light. Messing around with the hem of his sweatpants and boxers before sliding her hand under both of the materials to gain access of his member that got semi hard.
A smirk spread across her face when Sehun's closed his eyes slightly and groaned gently when you began pulling him softly from his base to the tip. Suddenly his hand went to your hand, pulling it away from his erect member and he swallowed hard, completely stunned.
"Stop doing that, Talia." He pressed his lips together.
"Doing what?" She played the innocent facade that soon ended when Sehun pushed her back onto the couch completely pinning her down the soft surface of the couch.
Her eyes widen at him as he became the dominant one in the situation. Whenever he showed this side it surprised her more than it should yet she loves this side of him.
"Stop playing all innocent. You knew what you were doing."
His voice dropped down an octave that left her frozen underneath his body, he gripped onto her tighter when she squirmed underneath him to escape. He then dipped his head down, his lips brushed against her catching her by surprise yet again. Pressing her lips against him kissing him back with the same force as him and racking your fingers through his soft, black hair. As she tugged on his hair, he let out a groan against her lips and pressing his bottom half more down on her.
Snaking her arms around his waistline, reaching for his sweatpants to remove them from his body, she didn't care that they were on the couch. Right as her hands were close, the voices of her family could be heard from outside. It happened all fast before she knew she pushed Sehun off her body causing him to fall onto the floor with a groan escaping his plump, reddened lips that indicated he'd been kissing.
Mouthing a quick sorry to him as she tried to fixing yourself up, and he took his time getting back on the other side of the couch and covering his lap with a throw pillow.
A few eyes fell on them as they watched the show in complete silence. Talia could feel Sehun burning holes at the side of her head, leaving her feeling bad for pushing him off like that and the possibilities of a argument occurring when nobody was around.
Dinner was quite the hassle seeing as Sehun was still upset with Talia. He didn't talk to her at all leaving her desperately wanting to pull him to the side and figure out what to do about the whole situation. Eventually she had to excuse herself from the table and head upstairs to clear her head. She felt like shit.
Turning over to her side to face the picture from before, she still felt bad for what happened earlier but she couldn't bring herself to say anything to him. Sitting in the room for the past hour made Talia feel the need to get a drink of water from downstairs and she got up from the bed to head downstairs to ease your nerves.
Right as she stepped the room she casted your eyes up to find Sehun walking down the hallway with a towel wrapped around his torso with water droplets cascading down his toned chest. She awkwardly waved at him and he returned the gesture with a smile that reminded her why she fell for someone quite like him.
Once getting her glass of water she headed back upstairs, and she glanced towards Sehun room. She wanted to talk to him but she feared that someone would see her go into his room and she didn't want to deal with it.
With hesitation she turned the knob of her room's door knob and went back into the comfort of her room. Shutting the door behind her gently before plopping onto the bed with a saddened expression. The whole trip wasn't supposed to be like this and now she got more upset with yourself.
Her phone dinged letting her know some had texted her and she picks up her phone to see a message from Sehun, "Baby it's okay, you don't have to act like this"
Not too long after there was a soft knock on her door, getting up from her spot on your bed and opening the door to and Sehun stood on the other side. It took her by surprise he'd come see her considering how late it became but soon made sense since everyone were in their rooms by now.
Sehun steps into the room wrapping his arms around her body and holding him in his embrace and she laid on his chest. Slowly separating himself from her and turning to the door to lock it behind him in case some were to walk in. He wasn't taking any chances of being caught.
Sehun bends his knees to cusp the back of her thighs. He straightens his posture whilst bringing her up with him, a gasp slipping past her plump lips at the sudden action. She encased her legs around his waist out of instinct as he proceeds to carry her over to the bed. She took the time to analyze his God-given features and the small details that made her attracted to him even more. The way his nose slightly flares every time he takes in a breath. The way his eyes roam aimlessly when his mind is clouded with thoughts.
Her trance is broken when he swiftly turns around, the back of his knees coming into contact with the side of her bed. He sits down slowly, later scooting to a more comfortable position. His back against the headboard and her frame straddling him. Sehun's lips fall open after his eyes graze over her expression. She was clearly in deep thought, as well. His honey-like voice breaks the silence that lingered between the two of them, "What's on your mind?"
"I..." Talia's sentence trails off as she deciphers through the thoughts in her mind, "There's a lot."
"Like?" Sehun's lifts his hand, his fingers playing with the charm that hung from the sliver necklace she wore. "Tell me everything."
Talia takes in a deep breath, her eyes closing as age did do. She'd had a quick debate within herself. One side of her not wanting her worries to come to light, while the other side of her wanted to spill out everything that came across her mind. Eyes fluttering open, she lifts her hands and place them on either side of Sehun's face, her thumbs lightly stroking his cheeks. "I've been thinking about us. About my family. And if I should tell them about us."
Sehun's free hand comes up the trace circles on her thigh, his other hand that had been fondling her necklace coming down to rest at her waist. "Us...what's been on your mind about us?"
She let out a chuckle. "What hasn't been on my mind about us? Our relationship is surreal to me. It's everything that I've ever wanted. I just can't believe it's happening, you know?"
Then her hands travel down Sehun's neck and over his collarbones before halting at his chest. She felt his index finger cuff her chin raising her head. His dark eyes are staring deeply at her. "It's happening. And I want you to know that I'm glad it's happening with you. You mean a lot to me."
"You mean a lot to me too. As much as I like what we have. I'm still scared because I don't know how my family will react to us being together."
Talia looks off to the side as negative thoughts about her family's response begin to haunt her. She began to circle her index fingers around one another, it being a habit she'd picked up when she become nervous.
"Look at me," The slight sternness in Sehun's voice causes her to hesitantly place her attention back on him, "I know that you're worried. And I want you to know that whenever you decide to tell them, I'll be there for you."
A smile etches itself onto her features at his reassurance. Knowing that Sehun will be by her side during a challenging time for her, warmed her. It made her feel safe. Her hands reclaimed the spot on his cheeks, her palms pushing inward. This action caused his face to be squished and his lips to pucker. She giggled at how cute it made him look before leaning in to place her lips on his. She felt Sehun chuckle before his hands come in to push her body flush against his.
