Suiryu x Chubby Reader

Summary: Never in a hundred years did you expect a man like him to like you.

Suiryu loved women. Loved to flirt and play.

He went on more dates already than any other man of his age.

But as soon as he saw you, that all changed.

You were one of the nurses who helped him after Saitama saved him. He was at the hospital for a few days. Almost all of his bones were broken, so he couldn't do much.

Of course, other nurses offered to help him, since they all found him handsome. But he didn't care, from the moment he saw you, you were all he wanted to treat him.

How you met him was by pure chance. A colleague of yours called in sick last minute so you had to take over their patients, and one of those was Suiryu. The moment you locked eyes with him, you knew you were going to like him. But you kept your professionalism and delivered what was expected of a nurse. Even if he kept on flirting and joking with you, you never crossed any boundaries.

And even though you were a bit shy around him, your duty was to help.

"I don't know why you insist on me feeding you Suiryu, you are all healed now."

"I know. But I really enjoy your company Y/N." you smiled and feed him another spoonful of his lunch. "And tomorrow, when I'm going to be let off, I will ask you on a date. Think of your answer before please." he said. It didn't really shock you, you knew he was a flirt, but the fact that he chose you out of all the nurses, did.

Tomorrow came quicker than you expected. As Suiryu was let go, you said your goodbyes at the front of the hospital.

"Be safe please."

"Knowing that such an amazing and kind nurse is waiting for me here is very tempting, but I do not plan on getting hurt. I plan on becoming a real hero, and man deserving you." you blushed a little.

"I like your soo Sui."

"So, will you go on a date with me?"

"Yes, I will." he was so happy, his smile lit up the whole entire world.

"I will pick you up tomorrow when you shift ends. See ya'!" he said as he turned to leave. You were a bit disappointed that he left so quickly, but you were looking forward tomorrow.

But before you could turn around Suiryu was right in front of you as he pecked your lips. He gave you a wink and waved goodbye.

You only stood there frozen. And you would probably still stand there if it wasn't for one of your colleagues yelling at you that your break is over.

Most of the Neo Leaders are Complicit

I had been getting a bit suspicious of Accel seeking Mumen out to give him a special body suit just before things started getting really bad, but I thought too, well, it could be a coincidence. After all, hero work is dangerous at the best of times.

However, I was rereading the relevant chapter (138), and in light of what's been happening since, Accel making specific mention of culling the weak is no longer innocent:

'The age has come where the powerless will start being culled,' speaks to a plan rather than mere accident.

It's intensified by what Ryumon says in an interview in the same chapter, saying that pro-heroes ought to join the Neo Heroes while they're still alive. Again, in isolation, it could just be him speaking to the harshness of hero life, but in the round, it's a threat.

They know. The fuckers knew this was coming. So much for not wanting to be corrupted by the Hero Association, Accel: we see you buying in to much worse.

Across the board, various Neo Hero leaders have bought into the evil to different extents.

We have those who are 100% for it, like A. He's just in it to see how many people he can kill before he dies, and seeing Zaedats and Infelsinave (poor patsies) turned into meat puppets to be milked for every last dollar pleased him.

We have Raiden and Suiryu, who may not be outright evil but see nothing wrong with rounding up outlaws for cyborgization. Don't you dare give these fuckers a pass just because you think they're cool.

For all his highfalutin talk, Blue can't see evil when it's staring him right in the face.

Significantly, the former pro-heroes *don't* seem to have been entrusted with the Neo Hero true agenda.

Child Emperor is suspicious and is trying to investigate, but he's being kept under close surveillance. There's a good reason Metal Knight doesn't want Child Emperor anywhere near him.

Metal Bat has realised that the Neo Heroes are evil. Unfortunately for him, he's under house arrest as they're holding his sister hostage. Seems the free babysitting came at an unacceptable price.

Superalloy Darkshine is uneasy, but currently, he has his head down and is busying himself with his trainees. He knows nothing.

I don't think that Max's feet being shot out from under him was an accident: his feet are his main weapon and taking them out inflicts the maximum devastation, even if he survives. There's only 500 pro-heroes at most: uploading a database of their identification and key attributes would be trivial.

I'm sure that there's a lot more to come, but don't imagine the Neo Heroes are innocent fools being bamboozled by a super-slick evil. A lot of them know. And are fine with it.

Do you think Suiryu would've had the same dynamic with Saitama if he had became his disciple? Let's pretend that day Saitama found him and saved him instead of Genos (because there's no way Genos would've let Saitamae take another disciple XD ).

Buaha omg - not only that, but imagine if Saitama hadn't known Genos when Suiryu asked to be his disciple that day after saving him during the tournament. Would Saitama have reacted the same way (esp because he flat-out refused knowing how much of a handful Genos already is to him) - moreover, because Genos played some tricky transactions (in his very forward persistence) that Saitama just couldn't refuse, that I don't know if that would be in Suiryu's style to keep pushing him like that, or whether he would respect Saitama's [boundaries] a little more and politely concede when Saitama tells him no. :'D Simply put, I think their dynamic would go a little differently because of that, since Suiryu is not as...well, intense as Genos is. (Also, Saitama's thing with the muscle training would probably be received differently....but would also have much of the same little effect, since Suiryu is already muscle-toned, anything he'd learn from Saitama would again be hero-related over strength-related, so that aspect of the disciple dynamic probably wouldn't change much.)

Tbh we're long overdue a really heroic Saitama moment.

Like destroying the Meteor moment and saving Suiryu kind of moment where we can imagine blasting Seigi shikkou and I'm a hero at full volume. We got moral ambiguity moment Saitama, but I'd fancy some balance with altruistic Saitama who just saves people because he can.

I'd also fancy a good Battle.

Au where everything is the same except Saitama has a pet betta fish. No other reason to have this au other than my obsession with them and my little guy Courage (yes I named him after Courage the cowardly dog).

I feel like Saitama would hate to do research on fish stuff but would push himself to get the basics understood bc he cares so much, like getting at least a 5 gal tank, silk plants, heater, low flow filter, etc. Genos comes into the picture like wtf is this fish doing here but eventually warms up to him. Saitama comes home one day to see Genos acclimating the fish to a big af 20 gal with real plants, botanicals like almond leaves in there, a pretty background, hardscape like suiryu stone (heh, Suiryu), and so much more. Saitama is just like....where’d you get all this...? And Genos is like Etsy 🧍🏻

I feel like Saitama would name him something super lame yet endearing. Napa? Udon? I do imagine the betta being yellow, bc his suit and stuff, so maybe Sunny? That’s cute. And Genos would be like ‘Sensei I think ‘Solaire’ would be a more elegant name’ and Saitama’s like ‘dude stop trying to rename my fish!!’

They both work extra hard to make sure Sunny stays safe from monsters and stuff; Saitama often moves the tank around the apartment in spots that get destroyed less often. WEBCOMIC SPOILER BEWARE:

When their apartment gets destroyed in the MA arc Saitama is terrified Sunny will be dead, but when he gets to the rubble theres this big metal box—turns out Genos and Kuseno designed a protective box for the tank and the fishy is safe!! Saitama cries out of relief but not like an agonized cry, more of a gross snotty cry. Genos is very proud of his idea.

ANOTHER WEBCOMIC SPOILER:

When Genos and Saitama move into HA apartments, Genos sets a timer to remind Saitama to feed him now that Genos isn’t in the same apartment to do it consistently. When the cheap timer inevitably dies, Saitama often catches Genos breaking into his apartment a few minutes after the scheduled feeding times have gone by because he doesn’t trust Saitama to remember without the timer. I imagine Saitama waking up from a nap and seeing a dark silhouette with scary yellow eyes gently feeding Sunny and Saitama is convinced his apartment is haunted until he turns the lights on. Genos is embarrassed to be caught lol.

Here’s what I think Sunny would look like, what do y’all think? 3 is prob my fav bc while he’s not entirely yellow, he incorporates white and blue, Saitama’s cape color and Genos core color so like,,,meant to be?

I know this post is stupid but I had fun!! Might do some art of this au lol.

It seems that next chapter will be an epilogue to this arc, and I have some predictions.

First, we see the HA executives talking about the aftermath of the fight and discussing about the S-class work.

Then we cut to Suiryu leaving the hospital, commenting how he's ready to start his hero career. Suddenly, he hears a voice calling him and asking if he really means that. Here is when we see a shot in shadows of the silhouettes of the new WC characters, and the head of the group (presumably Blast's son) says "I'm here to talk about the Avengers Neo Heroes iniciative." XD

The chapter ends with a domestic scene of Saitama and Genos in their new apparment provided by the HA. And I know that now in the WC they live next to each other's door, but in the manga I just can't imagine them not being together. ;-;

Everything is pretty heartwarming, until they show them having dinner with the moon watching through the window, with a creepy vibe remembering us that God is still out there and he isn't done yet.

All good predictions. Someone (not I) should start a bingo on all the possible things.

The one I want to see most of all is Garou showing up to talk to Saitama, but on *his* terms.

Garou and Suiko officially “met” in the OPM universe- I have always wanted to see them interact because they are the same age, they have possibly met before during their training years and most importantly because I just wanted to see Garou talk to a girl lol. Love at first sight is no longer a possibility for these two. In case they have met before in cannon, I guess they were never friends because Garou has always been standoffish, consequently never building a proper relationship with anyone.

Oh no, you mean when she saw him on tv in full over-the-top 'scary' performative mode like this?!

What a horribly inauthentic first impression of him for her to get! x'D (Considering they've never met/interacted at all in the webcomic yet.) Unlike Suiryu who can probably put two-and-two together (eventually maybe...if he and the helicopters stay tuned in to watch the whole thing unfold), Suiko has no other context or frame of reference to discern what's real or fake for Garou or know what's up. :'D For now (unless we get new info), there's no telling how she'll interpret or remember this first impression of him if they ever meet for real later.

I'm always up for Garou interacting + gaining more potential friends his age (since he admitted his kid self grew up essentially friendless, and by the time he entered Bang's dojo he was pretty much focused solely on getting stronger. So he had very little time to socialize.) His post-arc self provides a different opportunity, since he finally has time to slow down and perhaps meet more characters (for ex, he's already met & fought with wc Suiryu.) Suiko doesn't strike me at all as someone who'd 'fall at first sight' though (or for her character to be used in that 'love interest' role).....since ONE pretty much already subverted that trope when Suiryu teased her about it after she saw Saitama's strength (which she denied as not the reason she's interested in him; she was more interested in sharing techniques as training buddies, so I could potentially imagine much of the same for Garou. Especially if their martial arts masters shared some history and ONE's planning to go somewhere with that.) Other than that I think it'd be fun to see them ever interact for sure!

Metal Bat: Metal Bat can’t stray far from his little sister, for more than one reason. He has to be there to protect her if necessary, and she’s a bit of a bossy-pants so whatever she says goes. And because of this, Bad has to have his little breakfast-in-bed surprise be at home, when Zenko is at school. He ravishes them with attention, more than usual since they rarely get time alone like this. He puts on a movie, tries not to burn the eggs and bacon, and always brings a small present along with him. This time, it’s a little teddybear. Cliche, he knows, but it’s something he’s always imagined buying them as a small gesture of his love.

Suiryu: Suiryu was hoping to win the tournament so he could lavish his s/o in the fanciest of vacations and expensive gifts. But after recovering from his attack at the hands of Bakuzan, Suiryu is humbled by his encounter and decides to enjoy life for what it offers him now, in the present. Luckily for him, it’s him and his s/o’s anniversary the next day, so sets out to make a grand breakfast for them both to enjoy together. He revels in the way his s/o’s eyes light up at the sight of the food and him, squealing with happiness. He’s learned that the small things are important, while money and fame can come after.

Saitama: This man is so goddamn lazy that even when he plans a breakfast in bed for his s/o, he orders the entire thing in (he can and will Postmate everything, right down to the orange juice). Saitama and his s/o usually wake up later than most, so he sets the delivery to be brought at around 10:30 or 11am. It’s right on time, and he carries everything to the bed, where a couple things are nearly spilled. His s/o flips to their favorite game show and they sit together giggling and enjoying themselves. Saitama doesn’t need a special occasion to treat his s/o like royalty, he kinda does whatever he wants, whenever he wants. :)

Amai Mask: Oh yeah, it’s gonna get fancy. Amai Mask spares no expense for his s/o’s birthday, and that means a glorious breakfast-in-bed at the fanciest hotel he can get. Not only is it a suite overlooking the beautiful City C, but it’s got every amenity they love. All Amai Mask has to do is give the call and the food is already on its way to them, being delivered right in front of them without him having to move a muscle. While they wait, the handsome boi takes this moment to give them a few gifts he picked out that they had shown interest in earlier before (oh yes, he listens and is observational). Once the food is there, it’s all smiles as the most relaxing birthday ever begins for Amai Mask’s s/o.

His world is forever changed. He'll always have a smile on his face when he's with his soul mate. A moment with them will never be dull.Genos- He'll also trip balls, but not as hard as Saitama. He'll be pretty calm about it but will be obviously very, very interested in them and curious about them. Will be very protective about his soul mate. Wouldn't want to be apart from them for too long in fear of losing them. It would be utterly devastating for him if anything bad happened to them.Suiryu- He would be ecstatic at first about meeting his soul mate, but then it'll dawn on him on what this new connection could mean. He would feel a high sense of responsibility, which means lack of certain freedoms. He feels like he'd end up being tied down to them; obligated. Really likes them...and he's young and still wants to explore so he'd be abit conflicted.

Do you have any theories on how Genos puts on his shirts without wrecking them? I don't think cutting off the sleeves would be enough. I am afraid that guy must be literally taking off his arms in order to get dressed every day and it's haunting me.

So, I have to admit, now I can totally see shirts like this showing up in Genos's wardrobe from getting caught on different corners, mechanisms, and spikes.

And I think he could really make that work for him! haha Lean a bit into that punk aesthetic.

I've suspected before that he has duplicates of all his favorite outfits and this could be more evidence to that assumption.

So thanks for the mental image Anon, now it's going to haunt me too.

To be totally serious though, (because thinking about this is fun for me) I think Dr. Kuseno models Genos's body design on human anatomy on more than just a superficial level. And fortunately, humans can have pretty good shoulder flexibility. The shirts that he wears appear to have a good stretch or are button-downs. I suspect Genos's primary concern with the sleeves would be when he activates the arm cannons, jets, or other weaponry more than the actual fit of the shirt.

They are rare but there are a few canonical pictures of Genos wearing a shirt with sleeves (believe it or not).

To be cheeky, I would ask how Garou or Suiryu is able to put shirts on without ripping them. But I suppose Garou hasn't put a real shirt on since he's gotten ripped, has he? I imagine the answer would be similar? The largest opening on a t-shirt is the bottom.

If someone wanted to draw Genos taking his arms off to put a shirt on I would be forever scared grateful. X'D

Speaking of Neo Heroes' security guards doing the housekeeping at Badd's house as part of the deal between Badd and Neo Heroes when he joined them, this makes me think:

- "What if redeemed Garou successed at infiltrating Neo Heroes without getting recognized and disguising himself as Badd's guard?" -

This is just pure self-indulging thought because imagine this: Current Garou, the calmer, wiser, matured, yet still powerful as ever, been wanting to return the favor to Badd for defending him in the previous battle and also to protect him from Neo Heroes' shady schemes, he decided to infiltrate Neo Heroes with his new identity and becomes Badd's security guard.

Of course I know this scenario wont be possible at all because of Neo Heroes would investigate everyone to the tiniest details, and some of Neo Heroes members already recognized Garou in canon webcomic just like the whole Suiryu's team squad did. But let's just think they would be fooled by Garou's new persona when he enrolled the job.

Not to mention, let's just assumed enrolling the job as Neo Heroes' staff would be separated from the regular member's employment and many of Neo Heroes' execs haven't familiarized yet with Garou's new appearance.

The setting could be after Garou got ambushed by Suiryu's team and also after Badd got attacked by Neo Heroes' cyborgs, since I think these events occured on the same time or at least at the same week, imho. So, once Garou heard about what happened to the Neo Heroes' members, he got worried for Badd and decided to sorta helped him in a way by become his personal guard.

During the interview, Garou would giving "made up" personal data that wont mentioned any of Bang's influence or everything related to his mentor. During the physical test, he would only using the most basic martial art moves in front of the execs so they wont recognizing his distinct style.

Garou successfully passed the test and get the job, at the same time when Neo Heroes' need a new security guard for Badd since the delinquent hero already kicked out the latest guard from his house for being "too goddamn nosy", courtesy by the furious Badd himself. Badd said he wanted a more decently normal guard and not a creep. That was a great chance for Garou to fill the requirement as his security guard.

Imagine the short-haired Garou wearing a suit like usual bodyguard outfit, looking so neat, professional, and reserved. And he was standing in front of Badd's front door, ready to greet the hero (who saved his life before) then introducing himself as both his new bodyguard and housekeeping guard.

Eventhough from outside Garou looked very calm, actually he was a bit nervous because he would meet Badd again. Unsure if he should be proud that he got a real good job in which he could be by Badd's side, or afraid that Badd would reject him then kick him out from the house just like what he did to other previous guards.

The moment Badd opened the door to scold and complained whoever Neo Heroes stubbornly have sent to him, he got tongue-tied by Garou's appearance. At first Badd still not recognized his identity, but after inspecting him for a few seconds Badd immediately gawked and immediately yanked Garou into the house, closing the door so noone would hear their conversation.

Badd realized that this man, this charming mysterious person, his new bodyguard, is Garou. Garou the ex Hero Hunter, Human Monster, the former enemy who put him into hospital yet also the one whom he protected from the rest of S-Class heroes, the reason why Badd leaving Hero Association, now was standing before him. Introducing himself as Neo Heroes' new security guard who will "keep him and his lil sister" from any danger outside.

Not easily convinced, Badd cornered Garou and asking if Garou has gone crazy for joining Neo Heroes, too. Especially now Badd knew that they were such scumbags disguising themself as saviors.

Garou calmly answered that he already know firsthandly of what Neo Heroes is, also had heard of what they have done to Badd. Hence he became a double agent: working for Neo Heroes to gain their trust so he can protect Badd from anyone, including Neo Heroes members itself since he has the privillege to do that. Of course by doing that, Garou must be smart enough to trick them and manipulated the reports so they wont gain Badd's personal information that was too private to be shared because it could endangered Badd's life.

Garou doesn't care if this could endanger himself should Neo Heroes realizing his true intention. As long as Badd is safe, he wont give a fuck for all of Neo Heroes' bullshits again. Nobody would hurt Badd any longer, let the delinquent hero do his job properly without any disturbance.

Badd was surprised at how far Garou willing to do for the sake of him, but he still wont convinced enough of him because at this point it seems Badd couldn't trust people anymore since the Hero Association's post-war chaos and Neo Heroes' cyborgs assault.

Garou knows Badd got trust issue because of them, same as what Garou feels after all this time. Wanted to reassure Badd, Garou kneeled before Badd and vowed to him, that he definitely will keep Badd and Zenko safe at all cost. If something wrong happened between Badd and him that makes he should betray Badd, Badd has the full rights to punish him severely and he wont fights Badd back. His life is fully on Badd's hand and not Neo Heroes'. With pleasure, Garou pledged his loyalty just for Badd only. Only him.

Garou ended his vow by taking Badd's hand and kissed his knuckles softly. Then he gave Badd such tender genuine smile with equally tender adoring gaze, because for Garou this man in front of him is his "Hero". Now he would return the favor by cherishing Badd and make him happy.

Listening Garou's vow and receiving sweet gestures from him made Badd flustered, he didn't expect that the ex Hero Hunter who hunted him down would be willing to be his loyal guard. Even swore to cherish him. That's more than a regular guard should do to their client!

Badd had thought he didn't deserved to be treated so nicely like this since he was just doing what he thinks is right. Also he wasn't often getting praised at all by people hence he still hasn't used by it. But seeing how genuine and determinated Garou is, somehow it warms Badd's heart. That Garou really appreciating him to the point he wanted to return the favor, in which Garou didn't have to do that yet he still do it out of free will.

Finally, Badd accepting Garou's offer and trusted him to do his job as his bodyguard. Like Garou has promised before, if someday Garou has to betray his trust, Badd will not hesitated to demolish the wolfman. Monster form or not.

With a bright yet soothing smile, Badd helped Garou to stand up again from his kneeling position and then hugged him tightly.

And saying, "Welcome home, Garou".

Bonus headcanon:

Imagine how often Garou gets Badd blushing madly just by appearing as professional bodyguard, so handsome and charming. Not to mention now Garou showing more responsible and mature side of him that put Badd in awe everytime Garou doing his job properly. Sometimes it distracted Badd's mind and every single memories of the wolfman being so sweet and loving to him lives in his head rent free.

Also, Zenko totally adores Garou and really glad that he wasn't like those creepy bodyguards that Badd had to kick out before. More often Zenko asked Garou to be more casual and to treat Badd more as a friend and not as a client, since she told Garou that her bigbro loves his presence especially when both of them were off-duty at home.

Gradually, Garou becomes more laid-back around Badd (except when he was on-duty or still under Neo Heroes' surveillance). They're eventually becomes bestfriends, completing and complementing eachother since they both were alone and lonely boys.

Secretly without Neo Heroes' knowledge, Garou has been helping Badd to cope with his doomed situation under Neo Heroes' cruel scheme by finally having someone trusted enough on his side when he need it, as he will be always on Badd's side no matter what. Even as far manipulated the daily reports brilliantly so Neo Heroes wont touch Badd with their dirty hands anymore. Anything Garou will do, for Badd.

In return, Badd wont let anyone to hurt Garou again, even if it's Neo Heroes itself. The ex Hero Hunter has already suffered enough. Badd would try his best to cooperate with Garou so they both could make convincing "false reports" while they enjoyed their secret private life together. If someone from Neo Heroes found out what they have done, Badd worried if Garou would be taken away from him. Or worst, gets a fate worse than death. And Badd doesn't want that happens.

On the brighter side, Garou could spend time together most of the time with. Even living with Badd as a privillege of his bodyguard status and Badd's seal of approval to the Neo Heroes execs (so they would let Garou lives together with him, for "surveillance" reason).

Sometimes Garou also assisting Badd in a battle when he was still on bodyguard duty, ensuring Badd wont be too reckless during fighting the enemies. If Badd was injured, Garou was the first one who reacted and immediately taking care of him at home, or bringing him to the nearest hospital if the injuries were quite heavy and need proper medical treatment.

Imagine Garou bridal-carried Badd towards hospital. Badd was actually unconscious at first, but when he regained his consciousness the first thing he saw was Garou's handsome face with those seriously worried expression. That made Badd swooning because: 1. "Why did Garou has to be THIS gorgeous even in pinch situation like this??"; 2. "But he cares so much to me, this strangely makes me happy in some way..";

Then Badd pretended to be passed out in Garou's arms, just so he can peek on Garou's face. Spoiler: Garou knows it the entire time, but he let Badd enjoyed the scenery while he focused on running to hospital.

Imagine the off-duty Badd walking around the town together with Garou. Or going to family picnic with Zenko and Garou has to "keep on eye" on them (when in fact Garou just having fun together with them as it's just a false report for the Neo Heroes execs, Neo Heroes surveillance be damned).

Maybe somewhere in the future, Badd would finally releasing himself from Neo Heroes' grasp and decided to be vigilante, followed by Garou who rebelled against Neo Heroes since his loyalty is only for Badd. Noone can stop them as vigilante duo. Maybe at that point, one of them would confessed their feeling to the other and then they would become lovers, too..
