#Studying neurotypicals

one of my least favorite neurotypical customs is how long it takes to leave somewhere. My mom will be like “alright it’s time to leave” but we stay like 10 more minutes because people can’t stop talking. We get two feet before stopping again. We stand in the doorway for 5 minutes. It’s annoying and stressful and puts my brain in constant waiting mood.

“do the hardest task first”
no. just… no.
hot take: this doesn’t work for people with adhd (in my experience/from what i’ve heard from other people with adhd in my life). i recommend doing the easy/moderately difficult stuff first, that way you can convince yourself that it’s all going to be this easy and undemanding. then hyper-focus will kick in because your brain is like, “yeah, we can do this, we’ve got this.” then, before you know it, you’ve completed both the easy tasks and the hard tasks while hyperfocusing.
like, on a serious note, it’s always been easier for me to convince myself to get the most difficult tasks done when i’m already working/in the working frame of mind, not when i’m laying in bed or sitting on the couch, mindlessly scrolling through stuff on my phone, and struggling to start at all.
if the choice comes down to you not starting at all or starting with the easiest task first (which, for me, it often does), always, always pick starting with the easiest task first. sometimes you need a small victory, a little bit of an accomplishment, to give you the courage to take on bigger challenges.

I hate thst this is going to sound like i'm armchair diagnosing someone & at the end of the day everyone's brain is their own business but do you know how frustrating it is to live with someone for years, hear them say the most autistic things about not getting social cues and being obsessed with things for months and then having a "void" between obsessions and like overall seeing how they live. And you cant bring it up with them because what would that be like. And then you bring up that a character they like is autistic to you and theyre like "no you dont get him this isn't autism Alhaitham from Genshin Impact the game i have been playing nonstop since 2020 isn't autistic" like girl 🤐🤐

honestly Adaine is so good at clarifying/directing Ayda socially that it begins to circle back to a dynamic of like, Ayda saying "i don't know or understand these rules" and Adaine responding "have no fear, I've been carefully studying and manually interfacing with these for years, I will explain:" in a way that to me is so autism4autism

it's so funny to think back of how so many people thought it was dumb that murders would happen over a doll in watanagashi/meakashi when as ever shion has been simmering for a long time and it's just the straw that broke the camel's back. yasu is the same. they said she murdered everyone because she just wanted a prince on a pony. "she just didn't want to study" we're in a time loop now. they're all just catalysts that people use to invalidate their victimhood.
satoko, shion and yasu are extremely similar in that they're all victims of abuse who interpret their complex trauma through the lens of their feelings for a specific person (rika, satoshi, battler).

I got very lucky as an autistic for naturally developing a psychology special interest cause I'm like so good at being normal because of it

There's always been something about eldritch beings, things like mind flayers and other similar creatures, that seemed almost familiar to me. They never seemed like scary monsters in the way I think they're intended to be, and I think that might have something to do with my autism.
Hear me out:
On a daily basis I interact with people capable of communicating without speech in a way that's invisible to me (body language) and enduring painful stimuli without even noticing (loud noises, uncomfortable fabrics, any other triggers of my sensory overload). They behave according to social rules that were implanted into them by the Elder Brain taught without ever being explicitly stated. And if they come across another being whose brain or body lacks these particular strengths, they can potentially be rather unforgiving.
I know neurotypical people are supposed to be the 'normal' ones or whatever, but sometimes it really feels like I'm that one regular human in a world of strange beings with horrifying powers beyond my comprehension lmao

the funniest thing about zeIda is that, outside of formal situations, they actually don't know how to get along with people. they're amicable and maybe even eventually friendly to those who can roll with whatever they're dealing at the moment / are willing to entertain their off-kilter & hyperactive personality but the SECOND someone acts awkwardly they'll probably double that attitude and give it right back.
when faced with people who absolutely hate her guts, however, she won't even try to match the hostility. instead, they'll try their hardest to keep things civil because they're secretly mortified by the idea of confrontation, but also will equally be unable to hide the fact that they aren't enjoying this interaction either. they'll think they're being nice but they've probably just said the rudest thing on earth bc they're uncomfortable lmao

how i imagine it goes:
stage 1: person notices a furby shirt i'm wearing. that's quirky. very gen z. definitely ironic, right?
stage 2: ok. another furby shirt/a furby pin. little weird, but maybe they just really like the meme.
stage 3: wow. an actual furby. they're committed to the bit. maybe it's not so ironic anymore.
stage 4: wow. this person knows a LOT about furbies. i only asked one question, but now any attempts to divert the conversation are futile.
stage 5: thirty-four furbies? you own thirty-four furbies???
