“Anakin suddenly jumped out of his chair and hugged his master with a fierceness that took Obi-Wan by surprise. Obi-Wan held the boy gently, and let the moment flow into its own shape. Some padawans were as simple as quiet pools. Only in training did they aquire the depth and complexity that showed maturity. Anakin had been a deep and complex mystery from the first day they had met. And yet, Obi-Wan had never felt such a strength of connection with any other being – not even Qui-Gon Jinn.”
the part of the Rogue Planet book where Obi-Wan tells of preteen Anakin repairing a droid, dressing it in Jedi robes and sticking it in the corridor outside his door which he then ended up talking to it for what? like 5 minutes before he realized it was a fucking droid is sending me😭
People talk about how much chaos and/or tragedy occurs every time obi-wan and anakin are seperated in the movies bcs obi-wan is incredibly similar to a pilots gyroscope if the gyroscope was a moral compass and if the pilot was the equivalent of a mentally ill college student running on one hour of sleep, a granola bar, and the advice of his equally unhinged and heavily pregnant girlfriend who once flipped off a lion while the lion tried to claw her face off, but they don’t talk about how obi-wan is to some extent aware of this and refers to it as “anakins radius of potential mischief”
Rogue One. Acrylic painting on cold-pressed watercolour block. My touchstone for this piece was John Berkey's beautiful Star Wars art from the cover of the original 70s novelisation, so of course I couldn't resist mocking it up into a book cover too.
Cover art to Issue 65 of Journey Planet, which is a deep delve into Rogue One . There's a detailed article about my inspiration and the process in the same issue (free to download from journeyplanet.weebly.com).
not sure exactly how canon the legends novels are at this point (whether it's maybe an 'until proven otherwise' situation) but the revelation in rogue planet that anakin deliberately tests the boundaries and patience of those closest to him in order to gauge whether their love for him is real or not was too much to handle
andor did unintentionally make rogue one a comedy because Cassian’s cover story is he’s from fest???? an ice planet??? and he walks around in a full on fur-lined parka on an average tuesday
Stakar: what would your father say? You breaking the Ravager Code?
Peter: well, my father was an egomaniacal brain in the middle of a homicidal planet - don't worry he's dead now, but Yondu?
*Clicks the safety off, keeps the blaster on Stakar*
Star-Lord: He'd buy me an ice cream.
i am on page 15 of "Rogue Planet" and i have two key points:
"rougher neighbourhoods on Coruscant: as a hoodrat, let me just say fuck yes
"pirate entertainment channels that fed into elite apartments": as someone who relied on digital piracy since their infancy, let me just give another fuckkk yESSSS
