..As the Rodeo’s shopkeep hit the ground, they began to convulse and contort. Their body jerked back and forth in tandem with the eerie tune that abruptly began filling the air.
Despite everything urging you to help them, you couldn’t help but watch stationary from where your group stood. Empathy being overrun by an odd sense of grim intrigue that kept your eyes glued to the unfolding scene and your feet rooted into the floorboards.
Amidst their thrashing, a puncture turned into a tear, a tear turned to a cut, a cut to a hole, a hole to a gash, and a gash to a gouge. When the movement finally stopped, the shopkeep was in pieces on the floor.
Nestled deep into the mess of stationary flesh now littering the ground a small, green, ornate box laid bare. The tunes’ origin. It seemed so comically out of place amidst the carnage; bright, covered in colorful dots, adorned with a smiling cartoon bunny on the front.
It’s jovial melody wafted through the tense air, reminiscent of a fair or a circus. It’s handle still spun, yet no one dared to move. An audience held captive by unwanted devotion and morbid curiosity.
The Keepers’ partner, watched with a calm eagerness from afar. A grin spreading across his face as their show came to its climax. The notes began to slow in tempo, the song soon coming to an end.
For a few heavy seconds, all was silent. For a few seconds, there was a chance to flee.
But alas, the audience did not move, the audience did not speak.
In that silence, the Rodeos’ final act began.

commodorez, will you show off that home setup you mentioned in that reblog
Gladly! Buckle up!
Tumblr media
Here's the breakdown:
The main rack of equipment contains the following (from the top):
Knox RS16x16 composite video/audio router
Blackmagic Design Smart Videohub 20x20 3G-SDI video router (3G -SDI is equivalent to 1080p60)
Kramer VP-501XL UXGA (VGA at 1600x1200) to composite converter
CQ-900 Real Time Color Quad (allows 4 video composite video signals to be combined into one, spaced into 4 quadrants)
Extron AVT-100 tuner (for demodulating RF on old game systems)
Extron DVS-304 Scan Converter/Scaler (DVI version with SDI input option)
Videotek VSG-201D 601 Digital Sync Generator (barely used)
Digital Processing Systems Inc. DPS-220 TBC/Frame Synchronizer
Ubiquity Unifi 24 port gigabit switch (unrelated to video stuff)
Hidden behind the rack are a pair of Blackmagic Design signal converters: one SDI to Analog, and one Analog to SDI.
The RS16x16 takes center stage, since most standard definition signals and all of the audio routes through it. Here's the current router chart:
Tumblr media
Video and audio on this router can be sent as a pair, or separately as I so choose. I control it via the front panel keypad and watch the status on the LED matrix, but I can also run it via RS232 in a terminal. I've been thinking of making my own control panel for it modeled after the NV9601.
Many of these sources are audio from my various computers, video and audio from vintage computers, connections for a game system or two, and some other oddities. The destinations are a few vintage computer monitors and some video encoder devices on my various desktops, which I control mostly from OBS.
The last 4 destinations are the CQ-900 Quad's inputs for video, and 4 faders on my AM500 Stereo Mixer for audio. This means I can pick 4 things and give each one a fader on the mixer:
Tumblr media
This is my Atus AM500 stereo mixer. The output of which runs to the Scott Integrated Amplifier 480A below, which runs to two sets of speakers in my workshop. I can have a video game running on one fader, audio from a voice chat on another, and music on a third. Works great for co-op games or streaming stuff.
Source/Destination #10 is labeled Bench, which is my workbench across the room:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the workbench I have a Knox RS8x8 composite video router hooked to a bidirectional tie line to the main RX16x16 router. This means I can send a signal over to the test equipment, or send something being tested on the bench over to the main router, and then to an encoder device. There's also an SDI line to carry the HD feed from one of my bench cameras over to the SDI router, but I don't always use that.
The workbench router doesn't have too much wired to it, so I haven't written up a chart. I've got two bench cameras, a small monochrome monitor, and a TV, plus the ability to run video cables directly to an oscilloscope.
Here's what it looks like behind the main rack:
Tumblr media
Yeah. It's a mess, but it's always in flux, so I don't bother arranging the cables too neatly. I try to use BNC terminated cables whenever possible, but occasionally I have to use RCA adapters. Right now the TBC and the Sync Generator aren't wired up because I don't need them. I unplug the SDI router when I'm not using it because it's loud and obnoxious.
Tumblr media
Most of this is surplus gear I got for cheap, mixed in with inexpensive new bits and pieces of things I scored online. I've got other equipment scattered about that I connect as needed. There are also video adapters you don't see here, and this doesn't even cover all of the various encoding hardware I have installed in my desktop computers.
So, that's my setup (as of right now). It will be different in a month, I'm sure.

The New Right - US History II: Gilded Age to Present
Ronald Reagan had been a B-list Hollywood actor before serving in a stateside public relations unit during World War II. Although originally a New Deal Democrat, Reagan became a Republican and cooperated with the HUAC investigations of the McCarthy era.
"Though Reagan’s policies toward Central America and the Middle East aroused protest, his policy on nuclear weapons generated the most controversy. Initially Reagan followed the examples of presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter by pursuing arms limitation talks with the Soviet Union. But the breakdown of these talks in 1983 led Reagan to proceed with plans to place Pershing II medium-range nuclear missiles in Western Europe to counter Soviet SS-20 missiles in Eastern Europe. Reagan went a step further in March 1983, when he announced plans for a Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), a space-based system he claimed would be able to shoot down incoming Soviet missiles. Critics derided the program as a “Star Wars” fantasy, and even Reagan’s advisors harbored doubts. “We don’t have the technology to do this,” secretary of state George Shultz told aides. These aggressive policies fed a growing nuclear freeze movement throughout the world. In the United States, organizations like the Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy organized protests that culminated in a June 1982 rally that drew almost a million people to New York City’s Central Park."
"...Reagan’s declaration that “America will never make concessions to the terrorists.”

CONTENT WARNING: The following contains frank discussion of mental health issues, including self-harm.
Topics to Talk About with Therapist:
1. Mood has been bad. I wake up every morning and wish I was dead because I'm in so much pain.
2. Random social interactions with strangers are bothering me more than usual. My brain is stuck in a loop of overanalysis when I know intellectually it doesn't matter. Why do I keep thinking about it?
3. Reverting to unhealthy coping methods such as binge eating and drinking and compulsive cannabis use.
4. I feel like there's someone screaming inside my head so it's hard to concentrate. I think it's from being in pain.
5. My legs keep going numb. I think it's from lack of circulation because I've been too weak to walk 5K steps a day.
6. I'm constantly worried about money because I don't have any and I'm pretty sure I need to ask my parents for more but I hate doing that... But its their fault I'm disabled anyway, so don't they owe me?
7. I'm applying for disability because I'm too depressed and anxious to be able to work. Plus, my fatigue is so bad from being sick.
8. Trying to fill out the benefits forms and job applications makes me want to hurt myself. Plus my internet connection is slow, making it even more tedious. I can't afford proper internet right now.
9. This is a never ending cycle of working as hard as I can to make ends meet and then burning out and taking weeks or months to recover. I wish I could be euthanized like a sick animal because I'm tired of suffering this much.

You know what's crazy? The thing is, Miles, when the band released the Irish dates, immediately after released the song "Used to be my girl" with the Irish flag in the stories as if it was a clue that they might play this song on one of the four dates. Today is the last date, if he were to play a tlsp piece then Miles gave an exact clue, if it wasn't there then it seems like a joke to me, then why would he publish that story? Not to mention the other stories with "Little Illusion Machine" playing in the background and other clues about the band and duo...
! edit: he said that they won't do used to be my girl ! (see one of my more recent posts)
to this ask i would've replied that the fact the he put those songs in his stories were only because he was excited for the gigs, and he was listening to those because he sings them with alex, nothing more. the thought that they might play used to be my girl never even occured to me, it's a favourite of miles, he was 'buzzed', and that's that. and he posted little illusion before (like a year ago?) and it meant nothing. BUT std just posted this and he always posts some cryptic shit when he knows something, and he's always right. even before the car was announced, he posted like 10 stories with am songs were they say the word 'car'. so i don't know what's going on 😂 it would be super weird for them to play this, or any tlsp song except standing next to me. nevertheless, thanks to this story i will be glued to instagram and twitter all night long, especially because LV will be there and this is a hell of a song choice 🤣

Samsung Display: OLEDs Improve Car Experience
Samsung’s next-gen Micro LED technology, which delivers Full HD resolution on a 0.25-inch panel, is excellent for ultra-high-resolution head-up displays (HUDs) and AR glasses for driver information viewing. Mini LED technology, an evolutionary vehicle-to-everything (V2X) solution, unlocks elaborate animated signal effects to improve communication with other cars and pedestrians.
Samsung Display is making its car show debut at IAA Mobility 2023, showcasing its display leadership with a unique installation that showcases OLED technology’s various benefits. This supports the company’s goal of becoming a top OLED display vendor for next-generation automobiles when LCDs are replaced.
Visitors to the Samsung Display stand may compare OLEDs and LCDs at the Safe Driving Centre. Participants will learn that OLEDs’ True Black (VESA-Certified) may improve driver vision and safety in dark settings.
The exhibit will also demonstrate OLEDs‘ low power usage since they only light up pixels where the colour emerges, unlike LCDs. As electric cars (EVs) become more prevalent, this trait becomes increasingly significant. Additionally, guests may see how OLED technology improves car interiors. OLEDs may be twisted and curved to fit the car’s interior and are lighter and smaller than LCDs, allowing for more design freedom.
Next Mobility Projects exhibits future OLED displays like the Flex S, a multi-foldable display that folds into a S shape with one side within and the other outward. It may be carried like a smartphone and enlarged to 12.4 inches for vehicle dashboards. A rollable display that extends more than five times on the vertical axis for rear seat entertainment (RSE) systems and a slidable display that stretches the screen on both sides are other new goods on exhibit.
Samsung SDI: Innovative Batteries for Electric Vehicles
Samsung SDI will present “super gap”9 battery solutions for future EVs at IAA MOBILITY 2023, its sixth IAA attendance. Engaging top European R&D personnel is another focus for the organisation.
In the PRiMX10 Zone, “PRiMX, Experience the Best,” Samsung SDI booth visitors may view the company’s technical highlights. The zone will include next-generation items such the all-solid-state battery, 46-phi cylindrical battery, nickel manganese (NMX) battery, lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) battery, and premium-segment solutions. Samsung SDI will showcase its sustainable future projects in the ESG11 Zone with the long-term objective of “To make the world sustainable through our innovative technology.”
Samsung SDI is also introducing cobalt-free battery solutions including NMX and LMFP to meet mass-market electric vehicle demands for safety and cost-effectiveness. The new form factor repositions cathode and anode connections to the side for best space savings, performance, and safety.
Samsung SDI President and CEO Yoon-ho Choi will meet with important European clients at IAA MOBILITY 2023. Choi will attend SDI’s Tech & job (T&C) Forum, a job fair that showcases the company’s technology and connects with potential hires. Munich hosts the Forum for the first time following Seoul last month. It happened twice in Seoul and New York last year.
Europe is home to major automakers and component producers, making it a key market for the future EV sector, said Choi. “Using our unrivalled technologies, we will constantly provide our key European customers with products of the highest safety and quality.”

Which is better - a GPO or a purchasing cooperative, or is there a third alternative?
What is the best way to procure MRO products?
This post by Virginia Taylor had me at MRO. In the late 90s and early 2000s, the government’s Scientific Research & Experimental Development program (SR&ED) funded my development of an algorithm-based online platform to procure MRO parts to support the DND’s national IT infrastructure. The NYCTA used the same solution to procure MRO parts across the five boroughs. In a production environment,…
