See those areas marked in red? Those were holding back my OSI 540B replica video board from generating video. This board is of a design where solder mask was not always a given so it's very easy to bridge traces. I found one last spring (left), and I found another one this morning thru tracing the weirdness of the video signal, until I noticed that a pair of 74LS174's weren't passing any signals.
Turns out they were locked up, because master reset was pulled low by another solder bridge (right). See that middle line marked Q3? That should be similar to D3, but it wasn't.
I wasn't sure I had fixed it, until I started tweaking analog video levels again, and suddenly I had something visible on the screen! A few keystrokes later and... BASIC!
FUCK YEAH, BASIC!
And so I decided to run my usual SIN COS test:
The video signal is a bit low voltage, so it appears kinda dark. I need to tweak alot of the analog parts of the circuit, possibly modify a few things to get it playing nice. I also need to run test programs for the color video modes, the whole point of doing this replica build. Here's an original 540B built for monochrome video:
And here's one built for color video:
I built this thing in summer of 2020, it's nice to see it finally video-ing.
Who's Lila? is going to be a game that I'll be thinking about for ages. Naturally, I had to celebrate with strange and unnerving fanart.

Here's my final project for film class, a composite of me shot against green screen added onto a video the professor took of a hummingbird. I had to figure out motion tracking and After Effects all of which I hated but I have triumphed over this new technology
Sorry for the watermark, but I just had to snip this absolutely adorable moment from "Into the Light" from the 2019 Tokaigi concert. To me, it almost looked like a private little dance between them; like Marina did a little curtesy, and then Pearl a little bow, like she was inviting Marina to dance . . . but then, given the conversation that followed the song, I think it was actually a little pantomime of how Marina tried to introduce herself to Pearl when they first met (when she didn't speak Inkling yet), and Pearl invited Marina to come with her so she could show Marina Inkling culture (despite not speaking Octarian herself)!
Well, regardless of what that adorable little bit was, things certainly did get kinda intimate for a moment there 🩵🩷
That would be a vinyl decal a friend made at a maker space for me, adhered to my Magnavox 8CM515 which is my preferred composite video monitor. I usually use that with Commodore C64s & VIC-20s.
I've been using this thing for years. It's the only display I have that can handle the 80 column RGBi signal from a Commodore 128. Commodore rebranded this variant into the 1902 monitor, so it's a common pairing for a 128 or 128D.
