According to official statistics, ethnic Kazakhs [so-called Astrakhan Kazakhs] make up 16% of population of the Astrakhan Region. At the same time, 80% of the region’s residents who have been killed in the war in Ukraine and whose deaths have been publicly acknowledged by relatives or the…
The first time I read the Harry Potter books I was 7, and so I read them in Russian. Despite the HORRIBLY translated edition that I read (Maria Spivak), where Hagrid is Ogrid and Madam Hooch is Madam Samogoni, which directly translates to "Madam Moonshine".
But some names were unchanged, like Harry and James and Sirius etc, but what I wanna talk about is Regulus. He was still Regulus Arcturus Black.
Р.А.Б., read "R-A-B", same as in English.
The thing is, if not for the fullstops, it would be an another word that exists in Russian - раб, directly translating to "slave".
And I laughed at this when I was young, at the pun that this made. But now that I think about it, it makes sense
Regulus was sort of a slave in the Black household. In terms of ideals and beliefs that his parents imposed. He got sorted into Slytherin, he became a death eater, he obeyed his parents and in the words of Sirius was "a better son than him". Regulus also defended Kreacher from Voldemort, and Kreacher was also, essentially, a slave in the household.
A Russian BTR-82A and it's troop compliment are destroyed by 25mm fire from a M2 Bradley, Avdiivka. There are gratuitous shots of charred corpses starting at 1:26
Wagner Mercenary Group Boss Yevgeny Prigozhin Dead
A Private jet carrying Russian mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has crashed with 10 people on board.
In addition to Prigozhin, neo-Nazi Wagner leader Dmitry Utkin was allegedly aboard on the plane and is now dead.
“Wagner-linked Telegram channel Grey Zone reported the Embraer aircraft was shot down by air defense in the Tver region, north of Moscow,” BBC reported.
But in all seriousness, it just makes me helplessly furious to meet people in cozy West European homes who don't even take that cowardly, self-deluding stance of "uwu if we keep giving Putin what he wants then SURELY he'll be satisfied one day and leave us alone", but just. outright. go "the people of Ukraine (and Poland and the Baltics and Finland and...) are a good and virtually cost-less sacrifice to Putin for us to make to keep us cozy".
The first kind of people are making me despair with how WILFULLY ignorant you can be.
The second kind. Just this helpless fury. I wanna hit them with furniture. Pure hatred. Fucking scum.
Oh and "well if they don't want to be attacked by the Russians they could just move away from territory Russia wants", which is??? So beyond words???

Aided by a team of volunteers, journalists at Mediazona and the BBC’s Russian Service have identified 41,731 Russian soldiers killed in the war in Ukraine using open sources. This number includes employees of the Wagner mercenary group, but it does not include those who fought on Russia’s side in military units fielded by the…
Love hinders death. Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love. Everything is united by it alone. Love is God, and to die means that I, a particle of love, shall return to the general and eternal source.
It's been three months of war. Ukraine has lost thousands of its people to incomrehensible massacre. Many villages and entire towns have been bombed to dust, they're gone. Our land is being turned uninhabitable. Our culture - museums, churches, paintings, priceless artifacts - either stolen or destroyed.
And all I've been hearing this time is "russian culture is in danger" and how it's for sure is going to be destroyed for good by "cancel culture"
So please, tell me. What has russian culture lost in these three months?
Yeah, I'll be accepting apologies in a financial form
Remember how it all started a year ago, when Russian politicians, Russophiles, “useful idiots” and their propaganda “proudly” promised to take Kyiv in three days and then go to Berlin by defeating all of NATO forces: Prigozhin showed the losses of Russian PMC "Wagner" in Bakhmut per day, Ukraine, February, 2023. P.S. Also, keep in mind that it's only one Russian army unit, and it's only one not-so-large Ukrainian city that the Russians are unsuccessfully trying to conquer, and it's only one day of the war, and the Russian army does not collect all its dead, ...and the flow of information is heavily restricted by Russian war censorship (also many Western media controlled by the Kremlin's oil money are quite careful to hide the real extent of Russian army losses and real war scenes)...! The actual manpower loss of the Russian army is much, much higher...
