I find this book ridiculously adorable. Because of the way the author presented the story, chapter after chapter changing point of views on situations and the dialogue exchange. I think this book is not a simple romance or more precisely, a lighthearted historical romance, this book is about hopes and dreams and those frightening demons we all carry inside, side by side, and try our best to keep them balanced, try best not to let them overpower us. I know this, even though I haven't read the third book in the Girl Meets Duke series yet, this book is my favorite one among them. Don't get me wrong, I loved The Dutchess Deal and Ash will forever be my uniquely favorite character, but there is something about Chase Reynaud, the self-loathing rake, something more than a golden heart, and the careful persona, something more that comes out every time Alexander Mountbatten is around to criticize, to suggest, to scold to be bold working woman who deserves all the stars, each and every one of them. . . . Review of Bound by Duty by Cora Reilly

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5

Premise: Book two in the Born in Blood Chronicles, Bound by Duty follows the story of Valentina and Dante Cavallaro who is the boss of the Chicago Outfit. These two are put into an arranged marriage after both of their respective first spouses have died. Dante is still very much attached to his first wife and has trouble forgetting her. Valentina never loved her first husband and she bares a secret about him that she promised to take to the grave. Desperate for her second marriage to work out, Valentina tries to break the cold hard exterior of Dante without much success. 

My thoughts: I really liked this book and Dante and Valentina’s relationship was more complex than Aria and Luca’s. I admit, Dante’s character is a little harder to love and warm up to for some reason. (I think it’s because he can’t forget his first wife and there’s always a feeling deep down that makes me feel like he won’t ever forget her???) I think I could have loved Dante more if we got a little more of him and his thoughts in a dual POV. I loved and disliked Valentina’s character at times. I loved how she was strong and smart and didn’t just want to be a trophy wife and I like how Dante agreed with her on that, but she sometimes came off as a little desperate and clingy at times. I understand where she’s coming from but maybe if those times were more limited, I’d love her even more. Sometimes, I wanted to shake Dante so he could come to his senses and realize he has a great wife beside him. This book had action and dialogue that kept me on the edge of my seat and it was pretty fast paced which I appreciate. This book had some crazy plot twists that kept me very entertained and the secret that Valentina is carrying was revealed pretty early on. 

Cons: Like I mentioned before, Valentina got slightly clingy but I didn’t mind it    too much. 

Final Thoughts: This was a great book and I would recommend it to people who like mafia/mob romances or is wanting to get into them. I really like Cora Reilly’s writing style and the whole vibe of her books. This had an amazing and sweet HEA that made me swoon. It was a great book, so I highly suggest you check it out!

My Maddie by @authortilliecole - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ . . This book is absolutely outstanding. It's emotional, gritty, and action-packed. I understand why this went from a novella to a full-length novel. Maddie, Flame, and Ash had so much growing to do in this installment for it to just be a novella. They say that, "Revenge is a dish best served cold," but the Cade brothers only know how to incinerate. And boy did they ever burn. . . . . . I highly recommend this series. rating: 8.5/10 for the full series (and it’s not for the faint hearted... legit intense themes in this book and this is coming from me who loves reading mafia books haha)

It’s been awhile since I have written a book review!! and I just felt an overwhelming need to do this review because this book honestly surprised me - i went through so much emotions reading this!

So a little context: usually when I am trying to find a new book to read, I will be drawn to read the bad reviews of the book - to make sure that there are no major deal breakers i.e. cheating. I absolutely hate books about cheating because I don’t believe a guy can redeem himself if he supposedly loves a girl and goes on to cheat on them.... hence a big NONO for me.

however... this book. THIS BOOK. had cheating involved. (just gonna put it out there. sorry for the spoiler) but i guess it was one of those days where i reaaaally wanted to read a romance book + i read Bitter Heat by Mia Knight (and i loved it! and i hate waiting for the next book.... i suggest you wait till it comes out before reading it because freaking major cliff hanger UGHS why do i do this to myself??) and i just wanted another dose of Mia Knight books - hence i decided to keep an OPEN MIND and just read it without immersing myself too much into it and getting emotionally involved with the characters - I HAVE BUILT UP MY WALLS AND I AM READY. 

Crime Lord’s Captive (#1) 

I think this was the book which I didn’t really like both the hero and heroine that much. I think mainly because the heroine came off very whiny? and I guess it really got on my nerves after abit. plus the huge thing i wanted to change in the book was the cheating of the hero.... NOT A FAN would have given this 10/10 if not for that. and the hero was too much if im being honest. he was a major major asshole and i wanted to punch him - really. but the book ended off with a cliffhanger and it made me sympathise with the heroine so much. and in fact, i felt like i was starting to like the heroine because i understood where she was coming from and understood her actions. and also, the series of events were truly SHOCKING and VIOLENT. and i had to put the book down multiple times because it was really too dark of a read and i needed a break. so admittedly, it took me a longer time to finish the book because i can’t be constantly drowned in all this darkness lol.

Recaptured by the Crime Lord (#2) 

i needed to read this book because i HAD to know what happened after the cliffhanger. and i thought it couldnt get any worse than the first book in terms of the violence, but holy shit did it get worse! this was the book which made me actually start loving both the hero and heroine. i felt genuinely connected and understood how in a life like theirs, their actions all made sense. and i actually cant believe im saying this but i think they should be together despite the history of cheating.

Once a Crime Lord (#3)

ok this was the book that really made me love mia knight so much. her writing is so raw, and shes not afraid to write such dark romance with all the violence and gore and make you really experience what it’s like to be in their world. i felt so immersed in the books and it got my heart racing with all the action and violence and i loved every single main character and supporting characters so much - i felt that i knew all of them and experienced everything with them. 

this is one of the best mafia books i have read because mia knight wasn’t afraid to go out there and create a hero and heroine that GENUINELY fit into that world - they are not perfect but yet she managed to make me love them and empathised with them. 

who would have thought? i am honestly glad i kept an open mind and read this series :’) i honestly feel abit empty after finishing the series and felt the need to write about it. its a super exciting read and you will find yourself falling in love with the story:”)

Forbidden: A Student Teacher Romance by Amanda Heartley

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I truly enjoyed the story. Darcy and Lennon were both broken-hearted people. And they needed each other to feel whole again. I liked how the characters were portrayed because I was right there with them feeling everything that they were something that could only happen with a well-crafted book so props to Amanda Heartly for that. My one problem with the book...I wanted more of it. I also wanted a confrontation to occur but that just the bloodthirsty part of me talking. Guess that was two problems then. :)

First, how much can I say before you actually consider reading this book? Second, now that I've read and enjoyed so much ( thank you for the recommendation @maniromancebooks ), I am having second thoughts, I am not sharing them with you, for now, I am keeping Rhys! Third, because the 'conflict' is not a conflict, it is something that will be a bit huh! and then after a bit, it will be a bit duh! and then it will end up being meh! Fourth, so, you see, you shouldn't be reading about vividly written bright characters, who encompasses everything I want from any romance novel. Fifth, Rhys Winterborne is cunning, ruthless, ambitious, self-made man with a strong loving heart that left me speechless everytime he was present in any chapter. Sixth, Helen is kind, soft-spoken, beautiful and in dire need of an adventure. At times she is stupid and stuck and in dire need of an adventure. Hence, Rhys. Seventh, they make sense. Cause they are opposite. Cause they fit ridiculously. Cause, dreams are made of their chemistry. Cause, Rhys is forever going to be everything. Finally, I think I've changed my find for the first time after having second, second thoughts and I will leave the choice of reading or not reading the book all to you. Final, final words: don't think about having daydreams about Rhys and peppermint and headache powder and largest departmental store. Nope. I forbid it. . . . Enough about me, let's talk about you.
