Later revised and annotated for Transformers: The Lost Seasons

wada sez: The last of three Sunbow-version-of-Animated-character strips. On the Machine Wars Starscream color scheme used for Scrash, DeBoard said on Seibertron: “I believe Scrash's coloring was a way to differentiate between he and Skyquake (even though they were pretty much consdered to be the same character), as well as being a shout out to MW Screamer.” Onslaught’s seeming death here appears to be an choice, as he’s alive and well later in the Sunbow timeline—but Cattleprod points out that the Combaticons first appeared reduced to personality components after a failed coup, so presumably this is intended to lead into that, with Onslaught just heavily damaged but alive. The blue character is an OC based on the Diaclone helicopter who, in later official sources, would variously be given the names "Fumes", "Rotorbolt", and "Skyklik"—the creators of The Lost Seasons apparently used a common fan-name at the time, "Chopper". I've tagged him as Rotorbolt, because of the Wreckers connection. On the strip’s ending, DeBoard said: “Personally, I love ol Luggy and I just assume that while his body may have been destoyed, his spark survived....like they put it in a machine like they have a Garrus 9 or something.” He explained the strip’s plotting as follows: “Again, this is just "in my head" but Megs was probably obsessed with The Autobots on The Ark (at least for the moment) and didnt bother to take attendance, so to speak, and therefore didn't notice Lugnut. Another thing to keep in mind is...we were kinna working within a set continuity and trying to fit stories and characters where we can. Obviously Lugnut wasnt in G1 originally so it's a tricky thing to do. I just kinna thought it was a pretty neat way to introduce him and explain his "absence" from the show. Believe me, I try to take all of this stuff into account when I write, but if I overthink it, I'd never get anything written! Hehe. As for the faces of the "transplanted characters. It seems to be harder to translate the facial features of the TFA bots into a G1 style (for instance, I felt Lockdown's face in the Drift mini was just horrific), but I think Lugnut came out very well in this. [...] We are floating around some more stories featuring G1 Lugnut so hopefully he will be fleshed out more in later stories. Personally, I hope to bring his personality closer to the fanatic he was in TFA, which is what made him one of my favorite characters. With the space limitations of the Mosaic, we really didn't get to do a lot of it (though it was more prevalant in the script).” This strip evolved from an earlier script of DeBoard's, which went unused: “Unfortunately, I realized there was already a Mosaic piece essentially telling this same story. This one however was set in the G1 universe”—I’ve reproduced the full text below, alongside the usual Italian translation. The earlier strip with a similar idea was “False Saviour”, in case you were wondering.

Before I was little more than a thug.  Making a living by robbing those less fortunate than me.  Feeling I was destined for a greater purpose, I had applied numerous times to the Cybertron Military Academy only due be denied due to what the Head of the Academy deemed was an aggressive attitude.

This would haunt me in my future endeavors as I could find little work.

Eventually I found the Arena.

It was there than I unleashed my aggression and anger, my strength was unparalelled and I became known as the Kaon Crusher.

And, as quickly as I embraced my newfound outlet, I soon found myself longing for more.

Was this all I was meant for?  Mindlessly destroying mechs for little more than a thrill?

Blastburn lies defeated at my feet and I feel nothing.  I walk away, feeling just as beaten as my foe.

"Your designation Lugnut?"

I nod.

"It is."

"My commander has had an optic on you for over a Vorn.  He has seen your indifference and longing."

"What do you or your commander know of me?!"

"He believes he can provide you with a sense of purpose--a new life, if you will."

The blue mech (Soundwave) has my attention.

"And what do you call your glorious leader" I say to him mockingly.

"His name is...Megatron."

At the end would be a close up of Lugnut's single red optic, with an image or a shadow of G1 Megs in it.

Encounters (Shattered EarthSpark AU)

Long post ahead. Look at the #Shattered EarthSpark AU tag for previous entrees. A masterpost will be made in due time. I really should've added a Read More/Keep Reading to this series earlier, but oh well.

The sun finally disappeared beyond the horizon as two vehicles rolled into the train yard. The harvest gold and bright red SUV was in front, while the black and orange truck followed behind the other. They rolled up to one of the containers before transforming into their root modes.

"You sure this is the place, Roadbuster?" the black and orange mecha asked. Nervousness fizzled in his electromagnetic field, red optics staring at the other.

"I'm sure!" the harvest gold and green mecha replied before grabbing the container's door and opening it. The navy blue near black of energon stared back at them. "Bingo! See, Twintwist?" Roadbuster looked at the other with his bright red visor.

"Energon," Twintwist said, a happy tone filtering into his voice as the nervousness died away from his field. "That's amazing! I didn't expect that tip to lead to anything, but--"

Something landed harshly behind them, causing the duo to turn around, then immediately go into a defensive pose.

In front of them was a large mostly red mecha with dark blue highlights and a brilliant white visor. "Arms of Ruination: decepted," the mecha stated. From the kibble on them, their alt mode was a stealth aircraft of sorts, and their chest plate appeared to be able to shift and move out of the way of something.

"Soundwave?!" Twintwist squeaked.

"War: over. Peace and reform: offered," Soundwave stated as Roadbuster's plating rattled.

"Frag off!" Roadbuster roared, then bolted towards Soundwave. The former cassette master easily moved out of the way. Soundwave turned to face Roadbuster as he grabbed the ground to slow his momentum. Twintwist attempted to run, but froze up when a white and blue helicopter with two flight point flew down and transformed into its root mode, shining blue eyes looking towards Twintwist. The lower half of their face was covered by a face mask.

Roadbuster growled, whipping out a long, bladed scythe colored silver and black before he bolted towards Soundwave once more. He dodged out of the way again and took out a sound blaster. Soundwave pointed it at Roadbuster as slammed his scythe into one of the containers to quickly turn around. Roadbuster's optics widened before the gun activated and he was blasted back, scythe being throwing farther back compared to Roadbuster.

Twintwist bolted as the white and blue frame got on top of the fallen containers and took out a blaster, though a closer look at the device would show it was only meant for stunning and forcing into stasis, not for any serious harm. They aimed the blaster at Twintwist and fired. The bolt crashed into Twintwist and he collapsed onto the ground, electricity forcing them not to move.

Soundwave glanced towards the other as Roadbuster pushed himself up before a sudden screech caused all of them to look towards the source of the noise.

An odd scorpion-like drone slammed itself into the largest of the group, slapping itself onto their face and making them drop the stun blaster. They quickly grabbed it and threw it off as more of the drones appeared out from beyond the containers like a flood, rushing towards the Cybertronians.

"Ah scrap," Roadbuster commented as Soundwave turned towards the scorpions. Roadbuster turned, transformed, and promptly fled as Soundwave began blasting the approaching drones. The other managed to grab the blaster before of the drones did, quickly using it as a more blunt weapon to destroy the strange scorpions.

They failed to notice the large, somehow inconspicuous ant-like drone that approached the still stunned Twintwist. Its abdomen opened up to reveal an empty casing and wire-like tentacles coming out. The wires grabbed Twintwist and dragged him into the open abdomen before it closed up and the mechanical ant walked away, unnoticed by anyone.

By the time all the scorpion drones were destroyed, the duo finally noticed the disappearance of Twintwist and Roadbuster. The larger of the two was quiet before Soundwave put away his own blaster and came up to him. The former cassette master then promptly began to tap at the face mask, almost insistently as he stared into the others optics.

The mask finally slip back and Soundwave stopped, lowering his servo. "Better," Soundwave declared. "Megatron: has reason for deploying mask during the mission?"

The white and bright blue mech was quiet for a moment before he answered, "Forgive me. Things regarding the Autobots that haven't reformed are... becoming frustrating. We are still unable to find a good few of them."

"Soundwave: acknowledges," the stealth alt replied before going to one of the destroyed drones and picking it up.

"And you do know their names are Twintwist and Roadbuster, correct?"

"Whirl: only piece of Ruination that has Soundwave's respect."

Megatron hummed in response as Soundwave came back over with the drone. The Decepticon leader looked at the drone as Soundwave held it in view. "Is it Cybertronian?" Megatron asked.

"Negative. Composition: Earth-based. Energon: no sign. Faction signal: none," Soundwave responded.

"Odd," Megatron commented. "With how they were acting, I would've expected them to have some Cybertronian origins."

"Likely origins: AI machines gone rogue."

"I hope so."

An unbroken Scorpimech watched the duo walk away with Soundwave still holding its destroyed copy from where it hid.

it happens I have a few Ballbuster OCs

Would you do hc's for Optimus, hotrod, Bee, Hound, and any wrecker of your choice, reaction to their friend being a sports star? Like they play in major big stadiums, and they are always the team that everyone bets will win, and holds parties over the team etc.

Optimus:

He's very proud of them, they worked hard and became a well known sports star.

He makes sure to show his support. He also makes sure they take care of themselves. Being in sports can be tough, he makes sure they train but no too hard. And makes sure they are eating well. He wants them to keep doing what they like.

Sometimes he is too busy to go their major games, but he always tries. And if he misses it, he makes sure to watch the recorded version.

Hot Rod:

He's surprised when they tell him. He feels bad for not recognizing them, but he's also not the biggest sportsman. He is very impressed though, he knows it takes a lot of hard work to become sports stars.

Now he knows who they are, he starts to watch their shows, going to support them. He gets into sports because of them.

He enjoys going to the after parties and meetings the other team members. But he more importantly likes celebrating with his friend and tells them well done on winning the game.

Bumblebee:

He wasn't the number one sports fan, but he watched occasionally. So he knw of his friends status. When they become friends, he gets more involved, going to almost every match. He's the type to wear colors that match the team, and cheer loudly.

He also likes to play sports with his friend when they have downtown. It's fun for Bee and it can be good practice for his friend, and a way to keep them practicing.

He tries not to brag about his friendship to others. The last time he did he was surrounded by people trying to get tickets from him. Now he tends to keep their friendship on the quiet side.

Hound:

He loves that they are a big star, he has a lot of fun talking to them, spending time with them and watching their sport. He thinks himself lucky to have a fun and interesting friend.

He makes sure to watch all their games, an Energon in hand, and a team flag in the other. He cheers them on.

He has a bad habit of trying to coach them and give them tips after the game. Even though Hound has never played sports before.

Roadbuster:

He watched their sports games before they became friends. He was always a fan. He tries not to geek out on them when they met, but he can't help saying how much he admires them.

He has bet on them in the past. But once they become friends he no longer bets on them. He thinks it feels weird now that they are friends. He also discourages others from doing it too.

He went to all their games anyway. But now he gets front row seats. He still supports them the same way, yelling their name and cheering them on.
