just watched rebelde season 2 and I was really apprehensive at first (especially after the fiasco of the season 2 of another season I was following) but honestly, maybe my rates are low and I don’t need much but I’m still kinda satisfied with it-
Some characters really went up or down the liking scale for me but in reverse compared to the first season ☠️
Jana and Dixon are probably the characters that have moved the less on the scale, for different reasons. Jana gave me basically the same feeling than first season; at some moments she annoyed me but she’s still a character I can sympathize with for I don’t know what reason. Meanwhile Dixon is still the best boy, and that’s all. Esteban’s probably the one who got the lowest … felt like anything that could have been salvable in the first season got to waste, like I get it you never been famous and all that, but that behavior oh boy- idk what made me hate it the most, all the sex, the being an absolute ass to his friends and obsessed with success (when in the first season it was at least the quest to his mom) or the fact he betrays all of his moral principes and most of all the education his dad (real dad who raised him) gave him ? I was waiting all the time for a bit of change and thanks to god the last episode because I would have thrown a table!
Luka got the best of me, whereas sometimes I could be urghh about his behavior on this season 2 I was having fun (like wanting to get revenge on Esteban? I was eating popcorn) and honestly the relationship with Okane has me dying, that was all I was expecting to see (me the first season basically : « shame Luka has no romantic interest » s2 see Okane « oh no he’s hot » then see Okane with Luka « oh my god those two- »), I was really scared there would be something with Jana and luckily there wasn’t anything more, it would have been a shame to waste such a great chemistry between Luka and Okane!! Anyway everything, I have almost no shame to say that the season 2 is more okay because those two exist, I ship them very hard, I was screaming at every of their scenes (shame there is not more of them) and hope they can get a happy ending for god’s sake …
(also since I have no one to talk about this, yep I’m randomly rambling on this page, that’s totally normal … + defo omw to read fics, that’s a need)

anyway. genuine rebelde thoughts no one asked for: (under a read more because wow was that more than i expected to write!!)
i feel like s2 had a very different vibe from s1... in s1 there was obviously a lack of depth/character development but the show seemed to mostly just be silly with minimal conflict and aimed at slightly younger audiences. which was fine. i liked the teens having teenage drama and the musical performances. but s2 was like... let’s throw in drug dealing, threesomes, car accidents, people going into comas, a grown ass adult man trying to manipulate and drug minors, and murder. like ???? idk. it was just very much not what i expected from the show after seeing season 1.
also the musical performances really left smth to be desired :( in the first couple eps it was okay but then all of a sudden it wasn’t about the music at all anymore which was weird bc like... that is the Whole Point! they are at music school! disappointing :/
plus, even though they were obviously trying to make the show more serious, no one actually... developed in a narratively satisfying way? like for example, esteban’s entire arc in s1 was figuring out who his mom was, but now he was just an egocentric asshole for NO reason the entire season. which i did not get. why were girls suddenly obsessed with him? what even HAPPENED with the ilse and laura plotline? why did he suddenly have 0 morals for most of the show and then in the last few moments decide actually maybe i will be normal? just. huh. and that’s ONLY esteban who, along with jana, is Thee most boring character in the show...
anyway. as for other characters:
- jana. boring. lame. tried to do something with her attempting to find her identity but that conflict has been going on for 2 seasons and nothing has happened. also why bring in the video w okane thing and then 1 episode later act like it never happened? plus the car crash thing? like she was fully traumatized from that for an episode but then she and dixon hugged and it was fine? don’t understand
- sebas. WHERE to even start. man was inexplicably useless and just there to be docile and made fun of for half the season then he suddenly became his old asshole backstabber self. NO semblance of any redemption arc with mj, no explanations for why he continues to act this way... they didn’t even delve into his relationship with his mom and her expectations for him! it was all surface-level motivation
- i really liked mj last season but she just felt not there this time. idk she was just there half the time to be with sebas for no reason and to give dixon someone to pine after which was disappointing... the morning after pill plotline was resolved so weirdly...
- emilia . okay emilia was okay in this season but i wanted to see her more :( i appreciated her actual motivation to do Something even if it got her expelled/breaking up with andi and also she seemed to genuinely learn from it. yay for actual character development! for once!
- andi... idk her entire plotline was the addiction and then being there to plot w the others. which... was boring?? i wanted more of her artistic pursuits and stuff bc i liked seeing her start songwriting!! THAT is a fun new road that would have been in line with the show’s vibe! not addiction and an overdose jesus christ. plus i want andi and emilia back together my beloveds
- okane and luka were a high point honestly. maybe just bc okane was new and seemed more interesting bc of that but they both were so entertaining... them just insulting each other at first was hilarious. but also he and luka never actually resolved the whole “taking bribes from gus to sell drugs” thing. and also his relationship (????) with jana was weird af and also never resolved after the whole video incident. i did appreciate that he and luka actually had genuine conversations unlike some people and their love interests (cough cough esteban). and the relationship btwn luka and his dad did actually sort of develop yay for development... i guess... anyway okane and luka saved half this season
- gus sucked. why did we need that. he was the only reason half the plot happened and it was just STUPID! lol. i did not enjoy him as a character or plot device. chicago voice he had it coming
well! anyway. this season was... interesting. i’ll give it a 6 or 7 out of 10 because i am absurdly attached to these characters, i do like some of the drama, & it makes me laugh/ feel happy. and i hope it’s renewed for s3. but was it structurally and narratively good? no

REBELDE SEASON 2??
Just found out Rebelde is getting a season two this month. Literally, on the 27th we get Rebelde back!! In honor of this, i'm going to deep dive a little bit over the teaser video I saw, SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

^ AHH, Looks like these two cuties are going strong still, looks like this photo takes place in the same place the photo below takes place in.
^ I'm still mad at you MJ but I love you, and this make over looks super cute on u. Looks like this is actually outside of school maybe? She may be performing for a crowd?
^ There is no doubt in my mind he is staring at MJ, if you don't remember, Dixon has a little crush on MJ. This photo also kinda proves she is infact singing in front of a crowd as you can see people dancing behind and around Dixon.
^ Who is this??? She (I totally forgot her name, thats my bad) looks pretty care free and guard down sorta so I guess this may be someone she knows, or possibly a new member of the group, sense MJ left their group basically they needed to find a replacement? But if they needed a replacement couldn't they just ask Emilia since she dumped Seth and is with Andi now?
^ The long awaited Dixon + MJ kiss!! You can see that it looks like MJ was caught off guard a little bit, like she isn't kissing back at first? Dixon was def the one to kiss MJ, maybe he was trying to talk some sense into her and it leaded to him kissing her?
^ Andi, are you good girl? She looks really stressed out or looks upset, maybe she just got done crying, or is about to break down crying? Maybe her and Emilia got into a fight? I'm not sure, this is the first scene we've seen Andi distressed and without her makeup on.
^ Now either Dixon's talk with MJ went well and she apologized to the group for doing what she did, or they forced her to come on stage? I don't see any other thing happening here as why would they want to perform together? The short clip looks like MJ was pushed onto stage with her, just by the picture (bad quality or not) you can tell both of their bodies are very tense.
^ WAIT WAIT WAIT SLOW DOWN. Isn't this the guy from the fourth picture? Dang...I guess he is getting along great with the group. I guess he is a new member? Or maybe he tricked Luka, which is a bit crazy to think as Luka has a very fiery personality that makes it to where no one likes him.
^ Dang! Why is she so mad fa? This is a bad screenshot so thats my fault but it looks like she is slamming something black onto the floor?? I generally have no idea what could make her so upset? Maybe Estaban and her broke up? I'm not sure, what are y'alls thoughts on this picture?
^ Whose dead body are they wheeling out??? Why are there police officers? Who the hell died? How did they die? What happened???!?!?

San Juan y La Rioja durante las guerras civiles son como friends to lovers to enemies (?), cosa que se va a ver en el cómic que estoy planeando. El contexto en el que sucedió todo y el MIEDO los hizo tomar caminos diferentes al punto en el que terminaron hiriéndose mutuamente
Un poco de spoilers que nadie me pidió(?)
En el año 1863 Argentina designa a San Juan para que se encargue de subyugar a La Rioja. En aquellos años Rocío, una de las últimas provincias federales, era considerada como una rebelde/montonera que obstaculizaba el progreso del país, por lo que fue necesario callarla a la fuerza (sí, porque lo intentaron por medios legales en un inicio pero todo salió mal 🤣)
Franco acepta este trabajo sucio a pesar de que tenía sentimientos encontrados porque aún seguía queriendo a Rocío, pero el bien de su Patria y el de su provincia era más importante. Se convenció (lo convencieron) de que Chío ya no era la dulce chinita de la que se había enamorado sino que ahora era una loca que amenazaba con atacar a cualquiera ☠️☠️ por eso tenía que pacificarla aunque eso significara herirla.
Todo el proceso de pacificación fue muy violento (DELENDA EST LA RIOJA...) la pobre estaba absolutamente sola en esto porque el resto de provincias apoyaron el proceso y Entre Ríos (el otro exponente federal) no la ayudó porque había firmado un tratado con Buenos Aires para no sufrir lo que ella estaba sufriendo ahora
El punto final es cuando Franco logra capturarla y días después termina con su trabajo con un sablazo, siguiendo órdenes de un superior. Ella queda con un pie en el otro mundo ¿? Y Argentina felicita a todas las provincias que ayudaron a tranquilizar a esta rebelde 🤝
También Franco le cortó el cabello mientras la tuvo como prisionera☝️🤓 en el cómic se verán las razones
Hay que decir que Franco no fue un sádico ni nada por el estilo, nunca disfrutó el proceso ni de hacer sufrir a Rocío 😭 ¡Solo estaba cumpliendo su deber! Quisiera hablarles más de toda la lógica de San Juan porque él no es malo, tuvo sus razones y le dolió mucho tener que dañar a su chinita, pero creo que será mejor que lo descubran en la historia!

REBELDE S2 WAS A HOT MESS (major spoilers ahead)
Plot
I think conceptually speaking having Gus as a villain this season was a good idea. Who can be a bigger enemy to music than s producer only interested in money who exploits his artists? I hated that he died in the end. Biggest wtf of the season, now he exits the next season completely and our mains are left to deal with the fallout in what most likely will be an attempt to copy Elite. Rebelde is about the music and the highschool drama not an student accidentally killing one of the most important producers in the country, what?????
Characters
Esteban was interesting this season, i like that tried to kind of make him the villain. Him getting sucked into Gus bullshit and doing whatever it took to be the best was a nice change from him being really plain last season. I hated him 80% of this seasons runtime but at least this was intentional on the writer's part. I'm so not looking forward to the murder plot with him next season.
Jana works better when she is alone than with Esteban, they make each other lamer, I thought her arc about not having to always please everybody was cool, and i don't think her conflict at the beginning of the season with MJ was nonsensical at all. She's 16, of course she's jealous of someone who could steal her spotlight, not to mention MJ was her friend and left her and the band to go with Jana's shitty ex lol. I like that the girls ended up together at the end and it didn't feel like something forced to me, so many things had happened to them by that point that the reason they were fighting in the first place probably felt stupid anyways.
Dixon is one my favorites lol, this guy is ride or die with everybody. He was willing to keep going with the band, to forgive MJ, he was even trying to help Esteban before he turned into an asshole, i think he's actually the most mature one of the bunch. Whether he was the best in the class depends on personal taste but I think it was well done in the sense that he was the only one to stand up to Gus and remain true to himself as an artist. I like his friendship with Jana cause we almost never get platonic relationship in teen media between girls and boys without feelings being involved, i screamed when they kissed but I hope they keep it as a "we were just too drunk" thing. I liked him with MJ at first, now I think he deserves better.
MJ didn't really have an arc this season, she was just doing her own thing, the actress is a really talented singer so I wish she was more present in the race for Gus's contract. I think she and Sebastian were pretty cute together but I could see their breakup coming from a mile away (more on this in his section). I didn't mind her bit with the pregnancy scare (sin gorrito no hay fiesta, guys) and i just want her to have more to do next season.
Fucking Sebastian. I like to believe that if he knew Gus was such a monumental asshole he wouldn't have done what he did at the end. I thought his arc about being a better person because of MJ was cute however what was wrong from the start is he was changing because of her so I knew the moment she was gone, he was going to go back. My guy just needs therapy and i would have more sympathy for him if his entire villain arc in s1 wasn't based around him being classist lol. (Also I can't believe we were doing the i can fix him in the year of our lord 2022).
I hate what they did to Andi and Emelia. I didn't mind Andi's addiction arc per se because it's pretty common in the music industry, I hate that it made her absent for a pretty good chunk of the major drama this season and that they broke her up with Emelia that way. The thing is, i don't think before the song thing they were actually "bad for each other" their relationship didn't have any major problems before so breaking them up was the most homophobic act of 2022.
Luka is above good and evil in the show, he's kind of an ass but he has been like that since day one and everybody has learned to tolerate him so really, he's just fun. I hope they would've spent more time with him an Okane being actually together but they are only a thing in the last 3 episodes and Luka is literally unconscious in the last one so we were given cruuuuuuumbs. I thought the scarf thing was really cute, I love them, please don't take them away.
I didn't expect much from Okane but he was a pleasant surprise. It's a shame they ruined his storyline with Jana by adding the sex tape thing because he gave her actual good advice (apart from the drugs) and i think they could have s great friendship dynamic, he could certainly make her more interesting. Idk where he went at the end, i just want him to be left alone in this entire bullshit plotline and be happy and home with Luka.
