“Eat The Rich” — My Favorite Genre in Film
by Isobelle Cruz [February 1, 2022]
Tumblr media
The Menu (2022) dir. by Mark Mylod
The phrase in the title comes from political philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s quote, “When people have nothing to eat, they will eat the rich.” The last film I watched that had me surprised they did not literally eat the rich was The Menu by Mark Mylod.
This film never took itself too seriously despite its center around the wealthy and the lengths they go to just to experience the finer things in life. It is fully aware of its bizarreness and adds bits of humor here and there, making it enjoyable despite mostly taking place in one setting.
As the first film I had seen this year, The Menu truly sets up expectations and a fresh path to more of what the industry has in store for the rest of the year. Moving on, here are four more films to see if you enjoyed The Menu:
Tumblr media
Triangle of Sadness (2022) dir. by Ruben Östlund
Starting off strong with one of my final watches of 2022 that had me saying “what the fuck?” under my breath every few minutes is Triangle of Sadness directed by Ruben Östlund. What initially caught my interest in watching this film was a clip in the opening part wherein we see a bit of the modeling industry and its quirks, or so, ridiculousness. What I didn’t know, and certainly wasn’t prepared for,  was what I would witness next.
I went into this film after refraining myself from spoilers or even a hint of what it could be about, preparing myself to be either disappointed or pleased with what I was about to be met with. And that is exactly what I suggest to you as well. Ditch the synopsis and logline and head straight into this experience. Just know that you’ll be met with great dialogue, delicate cinematography, and a whole lot of shit—both figuratively and literally.
Tumblr media
Parasite (2019) dir. by Bong Joon-ho
Behind my little song to the clouds to tuck its raindrops away, a certain thought would always lie at the back of my head while growing up. As we celebrate a class suspension and give thanks for the chilly weather in the desert-like heat of the Philippines, I wonder what life is like for those living by the rivers, whose roofs are made with cheap iron or yero and whose walls are made of thin wood.
It hasn’t occurred to me before how important these thoughts were until I encountered this film a few years back. Parasite presents its audience with the rich’s ignorance of their surroundings and several contrasts between the everyday life scenes of a wealthy and poor family.
Parasite is precise, well-written, and surely deserving of its multiple awards.
Tumblr media
Knives Out (2019) dir. by Rian Johnson
Whodunnit—-they say that when you see them once, you’ve seen them all. And that may be true, but Knives Out’s fast pacing and quick cuts from past to present still kept my eyes glued to the screen. It’s a classic murder mystery, encouraging the audience to say things like “It’s too early on for such an obvious clue.”
This will keep you thinking throughout its length, asking questions again and again in your head, eager to beat the ending before the killer’s reveal. Though predictable for some, Knives Out nonetheless offers a fun view into the world of a money-starved family and their deceased father, along with a bunch of odd and entertaining characters.
Tumblr media
The Handmaiden (2016) dir. by Park Chan-wook
Of course I found a way to sneak The Handmaiden into this list.
The film follows Kim Tae-ri’s character who falls in deep romance with Lady Hideko, the woman she works for. Just when you think it is about to finally end, a sharp turn comes and it’s as if the story had only begun then—this happens thrice, by the way.
As we go further along the story we encounter money’s play in the wickedness of men and are left with our mouths agape after another unexpected revelation or scene.
The Handmaiden is not only a story of forbidden romance between two women but also a showcasing of comradeship and care for another in suffering. Looking past its long length and adult scenes is a mind-boggling and thoroughly written story accompanied by excellent direction, camera work, and acting.

From Penguin Random House: A short story collection as relentlessly intense and darkly compelling as Batacan’s debut, the Filipino crime landmark Smaller and Smaller Circles F.H. Batacan’s first novel, Smaller and Smaller Circles, was an instant classic when it was published in 1999, a masterpiece of Filipino crime that won the Philippine Book Award. In her second work of fiction, she gives us a far-ranging collection that explores the darkest corners of human experience, depicting with pitch black humor the systems of class and politics that her characters are trapped in, and the moments violence—accidental or otherwise—that can, at any moment, shatter their lives. The driver for a wealthy family witnesses the aftermath of the disappearance of the family’s twelve-year-old son. A field investigator for the World Health Organization travels the world giving presentations about a biomedical enzyme that will lead to the extinction of the human race. And Father Augusto Saenz, the Jesuit priest and forensic anthropologist from Smaller and Smaller Circles, returns to investigate the murder of a woman whose secretive life holds the key to her death. Sure to cement Batacan’s status as a crime writer of global status, Accidents Happen is a probing and relentless series of dark excursions into worlds where the smallest moments are infused with life and vibrating with menace, and death is always close at hand. Publishing Date: June 18, 2024.

Tumblr media
After many, marvelous, and messy events involving two boys fighting to woo one girl, things have become alright so far. Now that the serenading, spoken poetry, and love letters are over, you've taken the opportunity to get to know the Madrigal brothers more. It seems like you don't know them enough because they are always full of surprises especially when together.
Today, Camilo and Carlos made their way to your house again as per usual. The three of you have been hanging out and forming a genuine friendship. Both of your families are amused about it. The two knocked on your door in unison, they were greeted by your mother's friendly face.
"Oh! Mga anak!"
"Hello, tita!"
The two greeted politely. You taught the twins a few Tagalog phrases that's why they started calling your mother "tita" and your father "tito". Your mother lets the brothers inside, they noticed a couple of luggage resting in the living room. Camilo raised a brow.
"Are you going somewhere, tita?"
"Oh, yes! We're flying to the Philippines for a visit, tomorrow"
Your mother explained. Carlos wasn't fond of the idea at first, but he guessed that you were probably missing your home country. Camilo had a pout on his face and sighed.
"Aww, but we were going to watch a movie with [Name] tomorrow"
You walked down the stairs holding your luggage when you noticed Camilo and Carlos were there. You give them a smile and settled your things down, Carlos crossed his arms.
"You didn't tell us you're going away tomorrow"
"Chill, Carlos. It's not like I'll be gone forever, just for the week"
You replied. You realized how Camilo and Carlos both had downcast expressions on their faces, it was cute, to say the least, but you can tell they were going to miss you.
"Don't worry, we'll call each other on the phone from time to time"
"It won't be twice as fun, though"
"I know, I'll just make it up to you both when I get back, okay?"
You reassured the twins, the two replied with a defeated sigh and nodded. Your mother, who witnessed the interaction walked into the room with an idea.
"Why won't you two tag along with us to the Philippines?"
"Huh?! Bakit, ma?"
You turn to your mother in surprise, Camilo and Carlos were equally as baffled. Your mother chuckles.
"We don't mind bringing the twins with us, as long as it's okay with their parents"
"¡Sí! We'll ask mamá and papá!"
"Great! Go and prepare your things because we're leaving early tomorrow!"
Quickly, Camilo and Carlos thanked your mother before leaving. You faced your mother with a frown but she only sent you a teasing smile. You face-palmed yourself before turning away. It's not like you had a problem with the brothers tagging along but the idea made you feel awkward. Though you felt sure they're gonna love the trip to the Philippines, what's the worst thing that could happen?
Tumblr media
Your family along with Camilo and Carlos landed in the Philippines before noon. You can tell the two were eager to wander around the new environment. The boys didn't tell you the lengths they did just so their mother would allow them to go on the trip.
Inside the rented car, Camilo and Carlos stared in awe at the scenery outside the window. A proud smile was on your lips as you watched them. Sooner, all of you arrived at your grandparent's house, they were shocked but pleased to find the twins came with your family. As all of you settled down your luggage, your grandmother goes to you and hands you money.
"[Name] pwede bang pumunta ka sa palengke at bumili ng uulamin natin mamaya?"
"Oh, sure, lola"
You said as your grandma smiled. You haven't been to the palengke for a while but you can still remember where it was located. You glanced at Camilo and Carlos, who decided to change into a pair of tank tops and shorts for the warm weather. You blushed at the sight of their exposed freckled skin but played it off with a playful smile. They see you walk over to them.
"Wanna go out for an adventure?"
The brothers shared a look and nodded frantically. The three of you head out to the palengke. Camilo and Carlos get to experience riding on a Filipino jeepney for the first time, and they enjoyed it. When you all arrived, you split the money you had and gave it to them.
"Can you guys buy some meat and vegetables?"
"Sure"
"Okay, I'll meet you two back at the entrance"
With that, you, Camilo, and Carlos went in different directions to buy some ingredients. You enjoyed your time wandering around the palengke before buying what you need, you missed doing this.
Meanwhile, Camilo founds himself with eyes glued on him as he walked by. His cheeks turned red when he saw a few of the women whispering and smiling at him. The least he can do was give them a tiny wave. As he walked further into the palengke taking in the sights, he discovers that he got lost.
"Shit"
He cussed, he looked around but everything looks the same. He shrugged, he'll run into either his brother or you somehow. His eyes landed on a particular area where people seemed to be grilling food. Filled with curiosity, he walked over to it and found it was street food. Immediately, his mouth watered as he pulled out the money you gave to him.
On the other hand, Carlos glared at every single person that cast him a look. He was too proud to admit that he got lost while looking for vegetables to buy. He could ask directions but it was out of his comfort zone, he decided to have a look around the palengke thinking he'll find his way back somehow. Before he got bored, a shimmer caught the corner of his eye. Carlos turned and discovered a stall filled with various knick-knacks.
"Wow"
He took a look closer and found interesting toys. There were marbles, a spinning top, colorful kites, and other things he couldn't name. Carlos pulled the money from his pocket and looked around him before discreetly entering the stall.
You made your way back to the entrance carrying bags of meat, vegetables, and needed ingredients. Camilo and Carlos weren't there yet so you decided to wait. Minutes turned into hours and you grow worried, what if something bad happened to them? You bite your nails and decided to go search for them. Looking left and right, you don't spot either of the Madrigal twins. You asked a few people if they saw them but none of them seemed to have noticed the brothers.
You were frantically searching for Camilo and Carlos all over the palengke, merely panicking. You should've known that this place was too big, what if they got robbed or hurt? The thought scared you as you resorted to calling out their names out loud, hoping they'll respond.
"Camilo?! Carlos?!"
You called out. You won't ever forgive yourself if something horrible happened to them, your lips wobbled as tears slowly formed in your eyes. You try to calm yourself down when your eyes caught a familiar guy standing by a food stall. You walked closer and you could've collapsed in relief because it was Camilo, fortunately, Carlos was with him.
"Oh my god! I thought something bad happened...what are you two doing?"
You stopped and stared at the pair. Camilo grinned, mouth full of food, he was holding three sticks of isaw and barbeque. He was wearing a silly hat on his head, his other hand was holding a packet of pogs. You glanced at Carlos and he too was munching on some street food, he was carrying a bag full of Filipino toys, it was the biggest you have ever seen. You were speechless.
"These food are so delicious, [Name]!"
"Yeah, plus I found these cool toys, I'm sure Toñito would love them"
"This is the best! I can't wait to brag about it to Mirabel"
"...[Name]? Are you alright?"
The twins gave you a concerned look. Your eye twitched as you drew in a deep breath, you placed your hand on your hips as a tight smile made the brothers gulp.
"So, you're telling me while I was worried sick that both of you could've been killed, you two were out here buying food and toys?!"
"Lo siento, [Name]..."
"Oh no, we're coming home and I'm never gonna take you two out with me again!"
You scolded them and proceeded to grab Camilo and Carlos by the ear before dragging them out the palengke and back to your grandparents' house. You explained everything to your family as the two sat there guilty with reddish ears.
"Come on, Camilo and Carlos were just exploring"
"Nag-aalala ako sa kanila ng tapos ayun pala gumagala lang sila!"
You were arguing with your siblings in full Tagalog, you sounded terrifying. Fortunately, after dinner, you were no longer angry at them and apologized for shouting at them earlier. Camilo and Carlos never took it seriously and you were glad. The three of you decided to go watch a movie while eating Filipino snacks. Taking Camilo and Carlos with you to the Philippines wasn't a bad idea after all.

2022 Drama Year in Review
I enjoyed doing a year in review last year and wanted to do it again. I watched significantly fewer Asian dramas this year with 29 completed and 24 dropped compared to 75 total dramas (completed and dropped) in 2021. Some of these started in 2021 and finished in 2022 so they are on both lists.
You can find my full watch list on MDL here. Recap below the cut.
This was a busy year. I've been going to night school for my MBA on top of having a full time job and family. I've also been trying to balance what I do enjoy so I've been watching non-Asian series (The Wheel of Time, Warrior Nun, Willow, etc.), reading (I just finished The Lost Dreamer and currently am reading the Locked Tomb Trilogy), and gaming (I finally finished Horizon Zero Dawn and replayed the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series) this year to balance the time spent on watching dramas. Come on over to see me at @snkrfnd if you want to talk about any of those things!
Tumblr media
I'm terrible at lists, but here are prob my favorite dramas that I watched this year (some were released in previous years). Strangely, there are no dramas from Vietnam or the Philippines this year.
Love Between Fairy and Devil - now one of my favorite cdramas of all time. Too many reasons why this is at the top of my list
The King's Affection (I had to put it on pause last year because I was losing my mind whenever Park Eun Bin was on screen and finally finished it this year. Phenomenal. How did Kim Rowoon and Nam Yoon Soo hold it together when acting with her?)
Bad Buddy (Started in 2021, finished in 2022. Just excellent! I think this changes the game for Thai dramas.)
Alchemy of Souls Part 1 -everything I love about fusion sageuks
Tomorrow - everything I love about urban fantasy dramas plus it was so incredibly pro-woman I was really astounded it came out when there's politically such a backlash against feminism in S. Korea right now. Everyone in the drama gets 2 gold stars from me just for being involved in the project
Secret Crush on You - It has hands down the best friend group to ever appear on screen. It reminds me of my own friend group in highschool 20+ years ago! Loved the drama from the POV of the characters that are normally used for punching-down humor. Nerds need love too!
Semantic Error - Everything a KBL should be. It was still authentically a kdrama with the usual tropes. It didn't have to sacrifice what makes a kdrama great to make it BL. I find it so hilarious that DKZ exploded their album sales as a result. Maybe if the industry sees the profits, we'll get more quality lgbtq dramas. (On a side note, I watched the movie and swore they did something in post-production because the coloring was different and it was just because I'd seen too many high quality gifsets with talented content creators that are good at coloring and lighting. HAHAHAHA the movie suffered in comparison to the great production value of the gifsets I've been seeing this year.)
Glitch - the gayest thing I watched all year (affectionate). Aliens, cults, and government conspiracies are for the sapphics now, I'm sorry.
Girlfriend Project Day 1 (they announced a 2nd season!!) I don't know how they pulled off such great, sweet chemistry from such a short webdrama. I'm subscribed to their YT channel now in the hopes of more great GL content.
Roommates of Poongduck 304 - imagine what they could do with a full budget and network support!!!! Amazing they could pull off this enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity/and-they-were-roommates, office romcom (and I HATE boss/employee relationships).
Honorable Mentions in no particular order:
All of Us are Dead - the women needed more to do, otherwise this would be higher in my list. Yoon Chan Young blew me away with his acting. You can always tell who started out as a child star.
Ms. Cupid in Love - a good all-rounder cdrama where the writing for the women didn't make me want to pull my hair out
Gaus Electronics - love Kwak Dong Yeon being pathetic and Aziz stole the show. This was the funniest drama I watched all year. I really should have put it in my top 10, but now I'm too lazy to cut and paste.
Alchemy of Souls Part 2 still in progress and loving it for the same reasons I loved part 1 (the idol actors are still weak tho)
GAP the Series - ongoing, but I'm loving it. I hope this ranks high on my 2023 list. I am not used to seeing writers and directors letting women act like they want to bone. I'm so used to the entertainment industry sanitizing wlw relationships. Thank you Saint Suppapong and IdolFactory!!
My School President - unrequited love that's actually mutual pining? The misunderstanding is that the person you thought hated you actually supports you? Sign me tf up! Good acting to boot. Please don't let me down!
Never Let Me Go - Did you see Ms Thanya standing next to the evil uncle???? The way she towered over him? Whew! Time to look up her back catalog. I love an intimidating woman.

Marco Rubio Leaves Jonathan Karl Spluttering As He Lays Out Successes of Trump Versus Failures of Biden
Tumblr media
With all the chaos in the world at present, it makes sense for the Sunday news shows to feature congressional leaders as guests. As reported earlier, ABC News' "This Week" aired a segment on Sunday morning with Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) discussing the horrific attack by ISIS-K in Moscow. Rubio serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as well as Vice Chair of the Select Committee on Intelligence.
READ MORE:
'They'll Do It Here in the Homeland': Rubio on Moscow Attack and ISIS-K
That exchange was fairly cordial and even-keeled. The two also discussed the potential for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, which, Rubio noted, could happen tomorrow if Hamas would simply surrender.
Then their discussion turned to the recent rumors that former President Donald Trump may be eyeing Rubio as a potential running mate.
READ MORE:
REPORT: Sen. Marco Rubio in Serious Contention For Trump's VP
That's when things took a somewhat humorous (albeit darkly humorous) turn, with Karl expressing utter disbelief that Rubio would want to associate himself in any way with the Bad Orange Man or could possibly lay blame at the feet of President Joe Biden for much of the chaos we're seeing at present.
Watch as Karl splutters in the face of Rubio's deft portrayal of the stunning contrast between the two administrations:
From their exchange:
KARL: I want to turn to politics — there was some reporting this week that you are possibly under consideration to be Donald Trump's running mate. I don't put a lot of stock in this reporting right now — we're early. But you said it would be an honor to be offered a spot on this ticket — really?! RUBIO: Yeah. I think anyone who's offered the opportunity to serve this country as vice president should be honored by the opportunity to do it — if you're in public service. I'm in the Senate because I want to serve the country. Being vice president is an important way to serve the country. But I've also been clear: I've never talked to Donald Trump — I've never talked to anybody on his team or family or inner circle — about vice president. That's a decision he's going to make. He has plenty of really good people to pick from.
Karl couldn't contain his horror:
KARL: But, I mean, the reason why I ask is because...I mean, look what happened to the last guy. I mean, a mob stormed the Capitol, literally calling to hang Mike Pence, and Trump defended those chants of 'Hang Mike Pence.'  RUBIO: I will tell you this — that, when Donald Trump was president of the United States, this country was safer; it was more prosperous; we had relations, for example, in a part of the world that I care about called the Western Hemisphere that were very strong — we got a lot of good things done there. I think the country — and the world — was a better place when he was president. And I would love to see him return to the White House in comparison to the guy who's there now, Joe Biden, who's been a disaster...economically. Look at the world. Every single day, we wake to a new crisis, to a new conflict, everything has gone on fire. Since the time Joe Biden took over, Afghanistan's gone down, Ukraine has been invaded. Now, the Philippines and the Chinese are on the verge of something bad happening every single day, not to mention the threats to Taiwan. We have this blow-up in Haiti going on in our very own hemisphere. We wake up every single day — terrorist attacks and nine million people across the border. That's what matters to me.
Nor could Karl contain his wonderment at the idea that Joe Biden owns any of the current disarray.
KARL: But, I mean, you're not suggesting that's all happening because of Biden? I mean, look — RUBIO: Absolutely I am — absolutely I'm suggesting it's happening because of Biden. He's president, and his weakness and his —  KARL: It's because of Biden that Russia invaded Ukraine? RUBIO: Absolutely. KARL: It's because of Biden that, that Haiti. Okay, let's — RUBIO: Absolutely. I mean, Putin is sitting there saying, 'These guys can't even stand up to the Taliban, and they have to fly people hanging off the wings of these airplanes — now's the time to go.' And — KARL: I mean, Trump's the one saying, suggesting that there should be a deal that effectively gives Putin what he wants in Ukraine. But look...can we take a quick — RUBIO: Well, that's not true. He's said he wants the conflict to end — which, it's striking to me that people...why wouldn't people want peace? What I've said is there is going to be a negotiated — Russia's not going to take all of Ukraine. And Ukraine's not going to push Russia back to where it was in 2014. I want Ukraine to have the upper hand in any negotiation.
None of this is funny. But I couldn't help but chuckle at Karl's utter incredulity that the narratives he apparently hews to with such fervor could be challenged in such fashion.

White Rabbit on the Road to Baguio — Johanna Poethig
Painting (acrylic), 42" x 53" x 1.5"
Presented at The deYoung Open 2023 (ID #169)
Listed for $4500 *
Artist statement:
On a road stop along the steep mountain pass to Baguio City in the 1950s I ask for candy from an unwilling Ifugao girl. The classic White Rabbit candy from China crosses generations and cultures, still popular in the 21st century, floats with the ancient bronze amulet of the Ifugao in the visual stream of this childhood encounter. The two children stand in a field of phyllotaxis algorithmic patterns that embody the life systems that sustain us. This painting is a moment of innocence steeped in Philippine and US colonial history. My work encompasses memory, culture, politics and the natural environment mixing abstraction, figuration and symbol and some humor in this visual narrative.

Chapter 7: Gracefully yours
The mission is all set, but it's too early to call it an operation. What DEA and ND is doing at the moment are standard procedures. They follow a tip, and act on it. Paige on the other hand has been successful making arrests that slows Zhang's business. Although the reality isnt successful as this would mean more violence in the streets. Not only that, but racism is starting to boil out. Chinese and Hong Kong community are affected, even those who are mixed within the pillars fo Filipino community. Against Americans too. They believe it's the Americans who brought the drug problem. The citizens has handled it in their own way.
Heath and Holbrook swings a visit at the precinct 07, as they grner on to seek more labs of Zhang and operation hubs. Across the board room, Ed can't take his eyes off but tries to concentrate on the meeting at hand. It has been a month since their arrangement has begun. Ed was with Paige last night. Keeping professional and keeping it in his pants are difficult indeed. But he tries at least.
Paige's turn to speak speaking to Trojes and when her mouth turned to the shape of O, he feels hard.
Her red stained lips clutches around the base of his dick, the softest part. Paige's sexy mouth sucks on him like a very submissive slut.
"Uhhhh! That's good~~" He praises her, while his two arms stretches out over the edge of the bed. Paige kneeling down between him, Paige's hands jerking off his hard shaft and the other cupping his balls. Paige's golden eyes staring at him.
She looks good in that way. Philippine National Police's most powerful woman sucking his cock--an American cock. American educated, American trained but hates Americans is being American fucked in the mouth. Paige pushes his dick down her throat repeatedly, choking on his kenght.
"If we push too hard, we will push him out of the country and back to the arms of China."
Paige says.
"What do we do with this now?" Holbrook asks.
Paige stares flatly at Ed. "What do we do, Special Agent Heath?"
They lock eyes for a second before Heath turns to his fellow American. "I will gear towards the Captain. Politically, diplomatically--this won't be good either. Besides, it's the hottest time of the year-- elections are coming up next year. There are still officials that are connect d with Zhang with his money-- he is this close to buying a president."
Holbrook and Trojes nod.
"So are you saying this is out of our hands?"
"For now," Ed and Paige says in unison. And is shocked. Javier side eyes his two bosses.
Back in their desks in the pantry Javier talks to Paige. "You're not very subtle, Cap."
"Shoot me, Peña."
"This thing going on between you and Ed, I'll have to warn you."
Paige leans on the counter. "Enlighten me, what is this thing going on between him and I? I don't follow."
Javier leans in, "Your affair."
Paige laughs but no humor. "Is your brain squashed with so much sex that it's all you think?"
Javier sqyints. "I know those looks."
"Follow me," Paige rolls.
Paige goes to her office now a a file room and retrieves a dossier and handed it to Javier.
"Close the door."
Javier did.
"A year ago I approached Heath in secret. Although we work together for the Operation, there was something I needed him for."
"So you gathered evidences to all the officials connected with Cho Ren Shi."
"Every man on his payroll. If I went official with this, they'll hammer us down. Doin another operation silently will do the trick."
"So you made me think you are both having an affair."
"It's much better."
"That sucks."
"Sucks for all of us."
"So are you still in secret partnership."
"No, just what you said, we are having an affair."
Javier raises his eyebriw.
"I'm a widow! And he is-- I don't know bored with his wife."
"Alright," Javier laughs.
"Thanks for the concern, but stay out of my personal life."
Another Friday arrives, and Ed comes out. He tells Tony to wait for three hours.
Tony knows that something is up with their boss but whatever he is doing in his private life is none of their business. Tony knows he's been hooking up with ND Captain every week in different days. Sometimes they change up. When the wife asks, Tony lies for him and Ed didn't need to tell him to. He is still a man after all. 26 years married and you will not want another pussy? He won't believe it. This is the only time of 12 years of service that he has ever cheated.
Upstairs, Paige and Ed has finished making love. The redness on her chest and Ed's love bites stung. Ed traces her skins lightly with his finger. They count each other's scars. Ed has one on his shoulder, a bullet struck. One of the many gun battles he has engaged into.
Ed spots another abover her breast. They were light but still noticeable but it didn't ruin the beauty.
"Whered you get this?"
Ed asks.
"In the South, 1979. The rebels captured me. Part of their torture."
Ed creases his head with worry. "Tortured? Jesus Christ, Paige. They didn't rape did you?"
Paige breathes. "They tried. They molested me but the way that they will rape is not because of lust or get pleasure, it's more on inflicting pain. Overpowering you. Humiliating you. Breaking you." She locks eyes with Ed whose eyes fully awake, shocked.
Paige laughed. "I don't want to tell you it's embarrassing. But I did what I had to do to survive. They lost interest in me and thought I'm broken anyway. If it's broken, why break it?"
This elicited a soft laughter from Ed. "Show me how, or it didn't happen."
"No way!"
"I want to know how."
"It's petrifying!"
"You haven't seen me petrified by worst things yet."
"I'm not going to start," Paige giggles and Ed climbs over her, weighing on his weight on her.
"What are you doing?" Paige continues to gigle as Ed pins her hands up.
"What did you say to them?"
"Fuck you," she says sensually reaching into his lips.
Ed bits in, kissing her soft lips with thender care sucking her lower lip. Their tongues come out and Paige's no match with his. His rough exterior against her sensuality. She hugs him, her fingers running up and down his back. Still feeling out another scar he had. Ed climbs down to take another plunge between her healthy breasts. His mouth sucked on her nipple like a baby while the other kneads.
"Ohhh~~" Paige neck arches. Ed goes down licking her navel then kissing the softest parts inside her thigh, near her crying pussy. Ed sees something--similar to his wife's. A cut along the groin. He's not so sure but it's when a woman gives birth normally. He threw it out of his mind. He continues to circulate his tongue around until it finds her folds. Paige using her finger separated the tip.
"Here," she says. Ed has complied licking her clitoris.
"Uhh~~" Paige flips her head can't get enough of his tongue.
Ed knew what she likes. The strokes that'll make her hum and cum.
"mmmmmhhmmm!"
Paige moans as she cums, squirting. "Oh shit ahhHhHH!"
Ed pulls him closer his arm extending to fondle her breast.
Paige cried in pleasure.
Ed lifts himself wile Paige recovers. But Paige is fast as she pushes him down, to suck his dick. Ed sees the crown of her ass, perfect heart shape. It lifts up as her mouth is busy brushing his dick in it.
He loves it. He is addicted to it. His wife can't believing only dirty women do those kind of things. Paige is cleanest woman he knows. Organized but dirty in bed.
"Ohhh~~ you're so good. Fuck!"
He loses breath. His head swings back against the board.
"That's enough, I'm going to cum."
Tonight is a bit special as they won't need a rubber. It's almost her red and so no sex for a while for one week. But he can enjoy unlimited pop.
Ed takes her face and Paige plays with his cum in his mouth. Now he knows why only dirty women sucks cocks. He won't kiss that mouth. Paige knew that as Ed is a tight ass. Ed hands her a bottle a water and Paige drowns in his eyes as she rinses her whole mouth.
She rides him and Ed sits back enjoying the show. They both came. But Ed has no time to cuddle as he has to go home. If he has a choice, he wouldnt leave her. He'll want to wake up with her by his side. Or watch her sleep, and hear her small snore.
"I want to stay longer."
Ed says catching his breath.
"You should go. Were not actually lovers. We are just fucking each other's brains out." Paige says sleepily.
"I want to fuck you longer."
"Go, Heath. I'll see you on Monday."
Ed leaves and gets home. He takes a shower there while the wife is sleeping. He checks on his children first, already big boys. He will take them golfing tomorrow at least to make it up for missed dinners.
Ed's wife, Sara, is thought to be really beautiful. A blonde, white woman whom he met in college. He was her first in everything. He has no interests with other women as he is too focused with his job. He is basically like the American way of study well work well and marry well. The company of prostitutes didn't much count. But Heath is a neat freak. Unlike Javier who is not very distinct.
He couldn't sleep and so he goes to his office taking Paige's dossier again. A mention of a husband but no name and no child. It didn't even mention that husband died already. He looks at the Black and white ID photo again. Innocent, pretty face.
He caresses it as if caressing her actual face.
"Ed?" Sara opens the door.
"Why are you awake?" He asks.
"Why are you not asleep yet?"
"Just-- nothing. Go back to bed, honey."
"Not without you."
Heath smiles and hides Fontanilla's dossier on the others. He makes a mental note to hide it well ro get rid of it before Sara suspects.
Sara and Ed talks about the past. About their youth. They laugh and later as they keep kissing. They both feel the urge to make love. Ed surprisingly is still vigorous after two rounds of sex with Paige. But it's different with Paige.

The Big Bird Cage Jack Hill (✓), Pam Grier (✓), Sid Haig (✓)... and now we adding Vic Diaz to the list? Filipino exploitation royalty? If you made an exploitation film in the Philippines (and a lot did) then you had to have Vic Diaz in it. Also speaking of the Philippines, I have ZERO sociopolitical awareness, especially for other countries. I live in a red, white, and blue bubble shielded by the wings of a bald eagle, protecting me from all that evil unpatriotic shit like "knowing geography." So what's the deal with the Philippines? Every single WiP film features a rebel group in the jungle that's trying to overthrow the corrupt government. 99% of the leads in these movies are usually political prisoners. I guess it's an easier way to make your lead sympathetic as opposed to someone who put their baby in a microwave. So of course that plays a big factor in this one. In fact all the WiP tropes are here turned up to 11. You'll see this movie often described as a "spoof" and while it's not a full blown comedy it's clear that the aspects that make this a recognizable WiP film are exaggerated to the point where they're intentionally leaning into the inherent goofiness of a subgenre that solely exists for weirdos to have a wank to. Now I prefer my exploitation to wear its sleaze on its sleeve, no need to mask your grosser proclivities with comedy. However trying to make this "funny" actually makes it even more offensive. In this week's episode of "Humor that has Aged Poorly" Sid Haig goes undercover as a guard and since all the male guards at this women's prison are gay, he does gayface... queer baiting? Idk the term, he going full 1970's gay caricature played for laughs. And it only gets worse cuz during the climax the women gang rape one of the gay guards and obviously he is NOT feeling it... once again played for laughs. Also this movie makes no fucking sense but I don't have the space to go over how by the end of this convoluted ass plan to liberate the prison, they seem to forget the entire point in doing so in the first place, which is basically cuz some rebel soldiers were horny. Yet it results in like 95% dead women, an abject failure. https://www.instagram.com/p/ClHdTQ6vLCz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Ang Bagong Makaluma
Ang Bagong Makaluma is a creative project I developed to artistically express dissent to both dominant and alternative ideologies in the Philippine setting.
Where controversial topics are depicted as an artificial dichotomy, this project aims to paint them as they are: a spectrum of rightness and wrongness with the absolute truth sitting right in the middle, brushed aside by ignorant arrogance and arrogant ignorance.
Sticker Packs
Army of Black Dogs – Humor in the ineffective detection of and lack of treatment for mental illnesses.
Binary Dolls – Celebrates gender equality and points out the fundamental flaws in modern feminism.
Bloody Love – An attempt to list toxic Filipino family cultures.
Expert Opinion – Pokes fun at Filipinos’ blind faith in authority and incompetent registered professionals.
F******* Pop – Shows the lack of originality and Filipino identity in today’s music industry.
MaButi – Criticizes the prevalence of colorism among Filipino communities.
Matalino Me – Exposes the absurdity of extreme liberalism and pomposity disguised as political activism.
Mr. and Mrs. Antonius Travis del Fierro Montefalco IV – Ridicules mainstream romantic relationships founded upon superficiality.
Nihilist Cats - In a true nihilistic fashion, these cats are drawn with lazy strokes.
Pinoy Milkti - Showcases Filipinos as willing victims of neo-colonialism.
#PinoyPride - Shows Filipinos’ misguided conception of nationalism.
Putanginang Etiquette ‘Yan - A list of unspoken, basic social etiquette rules.
Sex Work is Real Work – Explains why and how this campaign legitimizes other facets of societal collapse such as poverty porn.
The Fat Standards – Outlines why the body positivity movement hates slim and skinny people.
Universities of the Philippines and Others – Exhibits how academic elitism results from an inadequate educational system.
Designs are in the pipeline.
