What Can Internationalization of Education Deliver to Students?
Global higher education has become competitive and highly skill-oriented. It is aiming to impart skills that are demanded by the global workplace right from the centers of higher learning. And in a highly competitive era, internationalization of higher education from universities, colleges, or other institutions must also evolve a successful strategy.
That is why international higher education goes above and beyond just acquiring an academic certificate or diploma upon completion. But why internationalize it or make it accessible to various institutions for students? These are some of the plausible answers.
Why Internationalization of Internationalization of Higher Education Matters.
It provides access to quality higher education at fairly competitive rates and costs. They deliver a higher quantum of better skills in affordable learning locations to students. Some international institutions and universities have set up bases in different locations. Or they established online learning platforms to enhance the delivery of their study programs. This makes it easier and less expensive than going to their original centers of excellence, yet the value of certificates, diplomas, and degrees is undiminished.
Academic exposure through creative international student exchange programs. One of the broadest and most impactful programs is sending students to foreign study locations to learn in new academic environments. Besides broadening knowledge horizons, it empowers students with a global perspective, enhances intuition and creative capacity through learning from different knowledge sources.
Internalization makes learning progressive, adaptive, immersive, and inclusive. The most important part of education is to make it progressive and inclusive. It helps build bridges across industry or academic specialization, retaining the quest for knowledge as supreme.
It helps embrace and integrate culture, tradition, and values in higher education. Diversity has always been a bedrock that inspired better communal and even international relations. With regard to education, it makes the whole educational experience richly rewarding to study alongside people of various cultural backgrounds. This helps students emerge with a better appreciation for and understanding of the numerous global perspectives.
It enables the acquisition of a rich diversity in global academic enrollment and faculty. This is a win-win for all sides, for students and academic staff or faculty. They deliver top-notch skills and a good learning environment. Global enrollments are unique in that they provide the ability to learn in a wholesome environment. There is also a better academic quality imparted as a result.
It is key to creating a balanced worldview with regard to international relations. We have often seen and heard that when strife or conflict erupts, natural disasters strike, or other potentially far-reaching events occur, there are several implications. Students may be caught in the middle or stranded. Other issues may come up with regard to their safety. An internationalized education space fosters the ability to resolve these issues with concrete foundations for cooperation.
In the end, it is all about giving students the most comprehensive and fully evolved academic and learning environment possible. For universities and higher education institutions, having proper and evolved international student exchange programs empowers their students and enhances the institution's credibility and reputation.

can I request zihao x slightly older reader (by a year or two) university au where the reader courts him instead because they know zihao reciprocates their feelings but is too shy to make a move? I don't mind if it's gender neutral or female reader. whatever you're comfortable with <3
Sunbaenim~
Tumblr media
pairing: dance major wang zihao x film major sunbae reader
pronouns: none used
genre: university au on some crack (same verse as perils of asking) , fluff, humor
tw/tags: some pining, flirting, reader is older than zihao by a year, honorifics, etiquette, a lot of bowing, pray for zhang hao, chaos, kinda slow burn idk, zihao tries his best in korean, mentions of alcohol, cafe date, feeding each other, for plot purposes reader has lived in korea for a long time but you can pretend whether they're from there or moved from overseas!
wc: 3132
summary: you’re wondering why the cute boy from the dance studio hasn’t asked you out. well, guess you'll have to ask him first~
a/n thanks for requesting our underrated dance king wang zihao, man was really robbed of screentime. i kind of experiment with the first part, jumping between povs without any line breaks and then kinda gave up, idk if that worked well lol. zihao's language struggles are canon, literally same ~ also! i'm not an expert in korean hierarchy rules and dating culture, this is based on the fair bit of studying i did + dating experience + research so if anyone knows better, please feel free to point out any inaccuracies!
Check my pinned for more fics~
He’s looking at you again.
You can see him from the corner where you set up your tripod. Practice is about to begin, dancers scattered across the studio all warming up and not minding you. (I mean, they’re not supposed to). Only him. You catch his eyes. His face flushes and he drops into a bow before falling back into his own stretches. But every so often, his eyes will flick back to you, usually too quick for you to catch them.
It’s almost a routine at this point, a silent ritual you share with the cute boy who dances so powerfully.
Maybe you’re biased but more often than not, you find yourself pointing your handheld camera in his direction. You’re not looking at him the way he looks at you. Rather, you watch through the screen, while you’re editing and cataloguing footage. He’s easy to watch.
Sometimes, while you’re packing up, you’ll hear a soft “sunbaenim?” You turn around and he’s standing there. His cheeks are still flushed from practice when he politely asks you for the videos you took of him. It’s not uncommon. You send the full practice videos you take to the dance teachers in exchange for them letting you film. But every so often, students will come up and ask if you have any closer footage of them, wanting to monitor themselves.
He never questions why the videos you send to him are so close up, almost always individually shot footage that has him in the centre of the frame. No, he just bows, thanks you again and leaves, shooting you once last backward glance before he walks out of the studio.
It’s not that Zihao doesn’t want to talk to you.
If anything, he’s wanted to talk to you ever since you started coming to his class. He still remembers the teacher introducing you as a film masters student and saying that you’ve been at the university longer than most of them, making you their sunbaenim. It was a respect thing, he understood. Similar etiquette around senior-junior relationships applied in China as well but he wasn’t as well adjusted to the nuances of the Korean rules
He only transferred about a year and a half ago when he was given the chance to finish his degree in this particularly prestigious program. While basic language skills got him through his mostly practical classes which a bunch of other international students like him were taking, social interactions were another challenge altogether.
“I don’t know what to do, ge.”
“Well you can always start by saying more than may I have the close up choreography videos, sunbaenim? Honestly, I teach you how to say one thing Zihao, and that’s all you can say.”
The younger boy pouts. Zhang Hao had been a literal lifesaver when he had transferred. And well, up until now. They had met at the foreign student society, the older boy had also been at the university for awhile, now studying a masters degree as well. And he spoke excellent Korean, Zihao’s favourite, albeit somewhat reluctant, teacher and translator.
“Ge! You know I can’t speak Korean when I get nervous.”
“You can Zihao, you’re just scared of messing up.”
“Exactly! I can’t mess up with them, ge, they might think I’m weird or something.”
“Zihao. They’ve literally caught you staring at them, multiple times. If they don’t find that weird, then I think you could literally say anything and they’ll just be happy that you’re trying to talk with them. And if they find it weird, then I don’t think you’ll need to understand Korean to get it.”
Zhang Hao made good points. Zihao kinda wished he didn’t.
Meanwhile, you’re in the middle of your own crisis.
“I just don’t get it,” you say as you comb through your footage. “We’ve had this thing going on for weeks. Why hasn’t he asked me out yet? Or you know, at least said something more than asking for the choreo videos? You know, maybe I’ve been reading all of this wrong, maybe he’s not into me at all. Maybe he’s just interested in cameras or something.”
Jiwoong hums. You’ve known each other for awhile, having started masters at the same time which made you colleagues even if he was two years your senior. He was an acting major, your classes often worked together.
“From what you’ve been telling me, I think the kid’s just shy, not uninterested.”
“You think?”
You’re editing yet another clip of him, the energy he exudes is just mesmerising. Once again, you’re not biased. The master’s thesis project you were working on centred around capturing the dynamics of body movement and that’s exactly what you were doing.
Jiwoong peeks over your shoulder.
“I think you should ask him out. Or you know, at least make the first move. You’re the sunbaenim after all.”
While he can be a little dumb, Kim Jiwoong makes good points sometimes. You kinda wish now wasn’t one of those times. But what the hell, you’ll give it a shot.
And if it goes to hell, then you’ll take a shot. Or twenty.
Maybe Zihao should have taken something to make the conversation he’s going to attempt to have easier.
No, he doesn’t mean alcohol, though a bit of liquid courage didn’t sound like a bad idea either. Maybe offering you a hot pack for the cold weather outside or even a little snack would be a nice gesture, start him off on the right foot to talk about something simple like the weather or if you’ve eaten.
Unfortunately, Zihao has neither of those things and therefore, no easy conversation starters. The only thing he has as he walks towards you after class is sheer determination and a voice at the back of his head that sounds vaguely like Zhang Hao telling him to go for it.
“Closeup choreography videos?” You ask before he does, metaphorically pulling the imaginary rug from under him. Whatever half-assed thing he was planning to say promptly disappears from his brain.
“Uh..uhm…yes!” Great, Zihao. Actually no, not great.
“Sunbaenim! Yes sunbaenim, thank you!” He adds belatedly, wincing as he bows in apology.
When he finally looks up, you don’t seem mad at him for forgetting the honorific. Rather, there’s a small smile on your face as you send him the videos.
“You dance really well by the way. I always have a fun time filming you.” You say as Zihao is about to thank you for the videos. Ah, there goes the rug again.
“I like your videos.” He manages. I like you. No Zihao, stop. “You do them very good.”
Yeah he definitely needs to work on his Korean. And on being less nervous, maybe, but he’s not sure if he can do anything about that.
“Oh thank you,” You smile even more and his heart really won’t stop jumping. “I hope so.”
He watches as you place the last of your filming equipment into the large bag you bring everytime you come to the studio. Ah, there’s an idea.
“Can I…” You look at him and really, why is he so nervous? “Do you need help with…?”
He gestures at the bag, the exact Korean words escaping him again.
“Oh my bag?”
“Yes! Your bag!....sunbaenim.”
“Ah it’s okay,” you say and Zihao feels his enthusiasm dampen just a little bit. You pause before saying:
“We should talk more. I can text you if that’s okay?”
It takes Zihao a few seconds to translate that and a few more for the meaning of it to sink in.
“Ah yes! It’s okay!”
Maybe he’s a little too enthusiastic now but you don’t seem to mind, the corners of your mouth quirking upward.
“Okay, please wait for my message. I’ll get going first, see you Zihao!”
He waves back and just like that, you’re gone and maybe Zihao’s smiling a little too much but he doesn’t care. He did it. He actually talked to you. And you want to text him which means you want to talk more. The dancer practically bounces out of the studio, reaching for his phone when another thought dawns on him.
Speaking a language was one thing. Texting was a whole other. What if you used abbreviations or slangs that he didn’t know? Are there rules? How long should he wait before replying back?
Zihao moves on auto-pilot, dialling the number and not even waiting for the other person to speak when the call picks up.
“Hao-ge!”
“Aiya, what do you want from me now?”
__________________________________________
“He looked so surprised when I complimented his dancing. I think he got nervous, the way he speaks is so cute. I wonder if I had that much trouble speaking when I first moved here. And he offered to carry my bag, I mean, how sweet is that? Like, I really thought he’d be weirded out when I asked if I could text him out of nowhere but he looked so happy about it….”
Jiwoong just keeps nodding as you ramble about the progress you’ve made with Zihao. Well, it’s one extended conversation but progress is progress. Your phone chimes and you literally stop everything you’re doing to open it. Your friend watches as your expression turns fond. You eagerly type back a response, send it and go back to your laptop, just a little more chipper than before if that’s even possible.
“So I take that everything is going well?”
“Mhmm, we’re hanging out after his next class where I’m scheduled to be filming. I asked if he wanted to get coffee at the cafe near his studio. My treat.”
“That sounds good, should I join as well?”
“Respectfully no, and even if you did, you should be paying for both of us as the eldest one.”
“Hmmph”
“Look, I know you think you’re cute but-”
“I know I’m cute. I mean come on, look at me.”
“Oh I’m looking and I’m not really seeing it, sorry.”
“Ah, I see how it is. I’m sorry I’m not a dancer with-”
“Please don’t finish that sentence.”
Jiwoong finishes the sentence.
Zihao, on the other hand, is currently figuring out how to form a coherent sentence. Luckily he’s got help.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today-”
“Matthew-ah, I love you but please don’t start.”
“Wait. So why are we gathered here today?”
Zhang Hao looked so done. No one was blaming him though. Zihao had bargained, begged and bribed the older boy for a crash course into the wonderful world that is Korean texting and well, dating etiquette. He did not want to mess this up.
And because Zhang Hao is an angel and loves him very much, Zihao is now in the capable hands of Seok Matthew, vice president of the foreign student society and Sung Hanbin, the university’s mr. popular because he’s literally friends with everyone. His Hao-ge graciously agreed to preside over their session as the designated Zihao translator. And Kuanjui was there for moral support. Actually, Zihao didn’t know why he was here but he’ll take what he can get.
“I asked Hao-hyung for help.” He said, the nerves returning when they all look at him. “And he called you to teach me how to..how to…”
He doesn’t even need to look at Zhang Hao for help before the older one smoothly takes over. Wow, he is an angel.
“Zihao wants to learn how texting works because he’s finally talking to the person that’s been making him go 심쿵 for weeks”
“Yes!” Zihao adds enthusiastically before pausing. “...what does 심쿵 mean?”
“Wah, you used to be like that Hao-hyung.”
“Excuse me, I was not.”
“Oh true, hyung never asked for help when he didn’t understand something. He just looked it up, went home and studied another hundred vocabulary.”
Zhang Hao had a lot of patience but Zihao’s pushed his limits enough to see when the older boy begins to contemplate murder.
“Thank you in advance for your help, sunbaenims!” He says loudly, dropping into a low bow.
Kuanjui whistles from the corner he was stretching in. Zihao almost forgot he was there.
“A little too low, Zihao, if you had straightened your back more, it would have been a perfect 90 degrees.”
“We’re the same age, Zihao-ssi.” Hanbin says kindly.
“Does vice president count as being his sunbaenim?” Matthew asks, now looking a little confused himself.
Zhang Hao just sighs very deeply.
Regardless, Zihao learned a lot that day. Sung Hanbin is a very good teacher and Matthew has a lot of helpful tips on what he can do if he forgets a Korean word. Zhang Hao patiently translates everything he wants to say. And Kuanjui teaches him how to do a perfect 90 degree bow because why not?
*심쿵 [sim-kung/shim-koong] - when your heart races because of something/someone you find exciting/thrilling/shocking
__________________________________________
Texting Zihao is fun.
He seems to favour using those cute little emojis especially when you know he’s trying to describe something that he can’t seem to remember the word for in Korean. His texting slang is surprisingly on point, though it interchanges with very formal speech. Not that it bothers you obviously, it’s quite endearing.
And before you know it, you’re on your way to the dance studio, a little more excited than usual since you’ll be hanging out with Zihao after. You fall into your usual routine. Greeting the teacher, choosing a corner, setting up your tripod as the students file in.
When he walks through the door, you give him a wave and he stops in his tracks. A pretty smile spreads across his face and he waves back before freezing and greeting the teacher and you with 90-degree bows. You stifle a laugh. Cute and respectful, literally everything you could want in a man.
Once class begins, you fall back into your roles. You’re professionals after all.
“Ready to go?” You ask when he approaches you after, still in the middle of putting away your equipment.
“Ah, one moment? I…” He falters and gestures at his bag and then himself. “I fix my…in the…”
“No worries, I’ll wait for you.” You figured he might need a few minutes to freshen up. He rushes off and you take your time packing everything up. You fix your hair in the studio mirror and reapply lip balm, not wanting them chapped especially in the winter wind. Maybe you’ve dressed up a little nicer than you usually do, wearing one of your favourite sweaters since the colour compliments your skin.
You hear his footsteps approaching the studio. When he walks in, it’s you who needs to take a few seconds. Somehow, he’s managed to change from the rolled up sweats and t-shirts that he usually wears to class into a white turtleneck, denim jacket and jeans. It’s very boyfriend. He’s even got glasses, white frames perched on his nose. While you don’t know if they actually help him see better, they’re definitely not doing anything to help your poor heart.
“You look nice, very handsome~” you add playfully because honesty is the best policy.
His cheeks flush and this time you know it isn’t from dancing.
“Ah, thank you sunbaenim.” You swear that he gives you a one-over before saying, “you too.”
At this point, you should probably tell him that it’s okay to speak to you more casually. Though it might be difficult, you know, as a foreigner to adjust from formal to casual speech. And there’s something about the way he says sunbaenim that you find so endearing so you let it be. Maybe after the next date.
“May I help you with your bag?” He offers, just like the last time although the line seems more practised now.
“Ah, no it’s okay, really.” You tell him as you both begin to walk out of the studio. “It’s not that I don’t want to but the equipment inside is quite fragile so I just like to hold it myself so I don’t worry.”
“I’ll be careful?” he offers tentatively, really, his smile is so precious.
“Maybe next time.” You say which seems to satisfy him.
Talking with Zihao is just as fun as texting him, if not more.
He’s a little awkward but he listens so attentively when you talk. The gestures he falls back on when he can’t find a word and the way his face lights up when you find it for him, asking to hear it again and repeating after you.
The cafe is cosy. You ask him for his order and pretend not to see or hear him when he tries to pay. But you let him bring the pastries to your table, sitting across him tucked away in a little corner with plush seats, your legs nearly touching. It’s quiet for a moment, he’s looking down at his fingers with a shy smile and you? Well you’re looking at him.
“Shall we eat?”
“Ah, sunbaenim should go first.”
Even though you insist it’s fine, he still waits for you to take a bite before he tucks into his food. It’s good. The lychee cake you chose is not too sweet, the cream light and fluffy and just right. The sound you make must have been louder than you thought because Zihao’s eyes flick up to you immediately.
“It’s really good,” you tell him. Then, a slightly risky idea pops into your head. You take the risk.
“Do you want to try some?”
You take a forkful and hold it up to him. He leans in without thinking, basically letting you feed him. The action must have clicked a moment later because he freezes mid-chew, looking at you with wide eyes as you giggle.
“It’s good right?”
He nods, swallowing. Then, he takes a forkful of his own pastry and offers it to you with another shy smile.
“Do you want to try, sunbaenim?” He parrots your words.
Now, it’s your turn to fluster, not expecting your actions to be returned so directly. Still, you lean him and let him feed you as well. Flavours burst in your mouth and you let yourself express it to him, giving a thumbs-up.
The rest of your date goes similarly. Almost too well, you think. It’s arguably one of the best dates you’ve been on since you started university but maybe you’re biased, who knows?
“Let’s see each other again, yeah?”
If Zihao’s smile can get any wider, it definitely does, he nods so fast you’re worried he might strain his own neck.
“I want to see sunbaenim again~” He says cutely.
Maybe it’s a little too soon but you’re already thinking of confessing the feelings you both know are there next time. Maybe you’ll even try and hold his hand. Regardless, there’s no ending in this film where Wang Zihao doesn’t become your boyfriend.

Rasmus' Reference Sheet and Description:
Tumblr media
There are a lot if ways to leave a first lasting impression. Maybe you dress a certain way. Maybe you have a peculiar speech pattern with the accent to back it up.
Maybe you don't leave the house without spraying cologne on yourself, or maybe you know a weird amount of medical facts that would give anyone health anxiety (or would make anyone think you got away with disposing a body).
Rasmus definitely checks all of those boxes. Most know him as the young Indian tailor Alix scouted, now under the apprenticeship of her parent. If not that, then he would be known for being a junior photojournalist for a local cosmopolitan magazine.
With an eye for detail, Rasmus can sometimes be seen carrying a camera with him. If not for his magazine submissions, then for inspiration. That inspiration becomes a sketch, then it becomes a fashion piece that anyone would want their hands on.
His comfort zone is usually things that aren't too fancy, such as jackets, overalls, pants and so on. He isn't opposed to challenging himself though, already experiencing making dresses for weddings and quinceañeras. This usually leaves him a bit more tired however, and it's almost always expected for someone to walk into the finished product...with Rasmus asleep on the floor.
Rasmus... didn't realize he wanted to be a fashion designer until after he graduated. Before that, he was completely indecisive on what career path he wanted to take. This left him feeling like he was wasting his parents' money, going to his education which he felt like he wasn't taking advantage of.
That was something he wanted to correct, which led to him taking an overseas gap year program in China. He planned to build his independence by being in another country, while also having someone like Alix to guide him through the process. This gap year is a chance to prove that he is capable of making his own choices, without the influence of his parents' status.
So he accepted the apprenticeship offer.
Although not being a surgeon himself, being raised by one gifted him with the learned ability to sew. What started as 'operating on plush toys' became an interest in embroidery, an element he likes to incorporate in his work.
Another interest of his is the surrounding mythos in China, especially as a foreigner such as himself. He would pay homage to these myths and legends by referencing them in his embroidered designs.
With Alix being the foreign exchange student that graduated with him, the two have formed a close bond that showed through their interests. Much like Alix herself, Rasmus is quite active in the website dedicated to the mysteries surrounding Megapolis.
If one squinted closely, they would notice that whoever the most recent villain was to attack, was referenced in his embroidery days before. It was through this that he also caught the eye of the back-up hero. Whether or not he has abilities inherited from someone else is still unknown. After all...
India is the west of Journey To The West.
"Do you notice a pattern?"

Characters: High School Graduate!Felix (SKZ) x Former Exchange Student Host Family!Reader (female), including mentions of other SKZ members.
Rating: PG-13
Notes: Years ago on my birthday, I posted this drabble and it was my first Stray Kids writing ever. While I had a sequel kicking around in my head for some time, I never could get the details together with proper planning and time. My birthday gift to everyone who supported or visited this account.
Many thanks to @xiubaek-13 for answering all of my questions regarding graduation in the Australian high school system!
                                                   ------------
“Talking to a secret girlfriend?”
Felix jerked his head up from his phone and looked over his shoulder to see that his sister Olivia trying to read his screen. He shook his head and pointed to the name at the top of the chat. The younger sister peered at the screen and sighed when she saw it was you, AKA the girl who was part of the host family when he went overseas for an exchange program in high school.
“She’s not my secret girlfriend,” Felix said, “She’s kinda like another sister from another country.”
“But you already have two sisters!” Olivia joked, pretending to look hurt. “Does Mum know?”
Before he could respond, the pair were interrupted by their parents, who were calling them to dinner. Olivia headed for the kitchen and Felix quickly shut his phone off and left it on his nightstand.
After he met you when you came home from college one weekend, it had been awkward at first, as you had not been warned about your mom taking in an exchange student while your brother was in Australia. Eventually, both of you found common ground in music and bonded over shared interests during the course of his exchange program. You weren’t always around, due to college, but you had started to stop home to visit your mom and him more often until his last day in your country. Now he was about to graduate from high school and you were finished with college and working a job in a radio station.
“Y/N, thanks for filling in for Jacob,” your manager said as he stopped you in the hallway. “If you’d like, we can slot you in for mixing on some of our newer programs.”
“Thanks,” you responded. “I’m definitely interested. Oh, before I forget, did you see my e-mail about vacation?”
He pulled out his work phone and checked the e-mails for the information. His thumb pressed your e-mail and he nodded as he looked up. “Yeah that’s fine with me. Jacob said he’s starting to feel better and we should have enough people to cover for you. Where you going?”
“Australia,” you shared.
“Funny, I always wanted to go,” your manager mused. “Don’t forget a jacket - it ain’t summer there – they get winter now. Real confusing from what I’ve heard.”
You gave a mock salute and walked to your desk to retrieve your bag. You pulled out your car keys and checked your phone for missed messages.
Mom
Hi honey, are you bringing your shampoo in your checked bag? I couldn’t remember if you said you were or if you were relying on the travel sized bottles. Sent 15:31 PM
Y/N
Hi mom, yes I’m checking my shampoo – we can share so you don’t have to waste room in your suitcase. Also packing the same lotion you use. Sent 19:07 PM
Do you need me to pick anything else up on the way home? Sent 19:07 PM
                                                    -------------
“So who’s coming?”
“Mum, Dad, my sisters,” Felix mused as he ticked off the names of people coming to the graduation. “Nana and Granddad said they can’t make it, but that’s okay.”
“I really wish I could make it,” Chan sighed as he moved the phone to his other ear. “I’m really sorry about my schedule – work said I had it off, but then they tell me someone’s got an emergency and I have to cover.”
Felix shook his head and insisted it was fine. “It’s just high school, no big deal.”
“But didn’t you get, like, honors too or something?”
“It’s not a big deal,” Felix replied. “We can hang afterwards.”
“Auntie and Uncle taking you for dinner? Where you guys going?” Chan asked.
“Umm not sure actually,” Felix confessed. “They said it was a surprise, but that I’ll really like it.”
Chan paused and he crinkled his brows after hearing his cousin’s reply. Surprise dinner? To him that was a little odd – come to think of it, he couldn’t recall the last time his aunt and uncle pulled off some kind of surprise before. Not that they were bad at keeping surprises or something, but he didn’t think surprising people or their own kids was their style.
“Did we lose connection?” Felix asked.
Chan quickly apologized and explained he spaced out for a moment. “I’m sure it will be fun, wherever they planned dinner I mean. Hey, I’ll let you go – I need to work on a sample for Binnie. He’s trying to work on something for a deadline and wanted my help.”
                                                   -------------
“You have the address right?”
You waved your phone around and with your free hand, you retrieved a physical print-out of the directions from your bag. “I know how you are about using my phone and the possibility of a bad signal or something, so I killed a tree and brought the directions on a printout.”
Mom relaxed when she heard your response and followed you to the rental car area to pick up the car. “It’s a shame we can’t attend the actual ceremony, but rules are rules. I heard that extended family were limited as well!”
“Think about it Mom,” you said as you searched for the shuttle to the rental car office. “If every student invited their whole extended family, they would run out of viewing room for the event. It’s not like back home where they sometimes rent a bigger venue to do the ceremony.” You found the stop for the rental car shuttle and waited near the attendant’s post for the next one to arrive.
Mom put her bag down next to yours and she checked her watch for the time. “We should have enough time to stop at the hotel, freshen up, and then get to dinner. Oh that reminds me, I need to text your father and brother about where to find the meals I left them.”
“Maybe tell them to open a window in case they burn the food,” you joked.
“Your brother did try to improve his cooking,” your mom reminded you. “His exchange mother told me she had him in the kitchen every night for dinner.”
                                                   -------------
“I gotta admit, that was kinda boring,” Han confessed once the ceremony ended. He loosened his tie and looked over at Felix who was trying to find his family. “Doing anything afterwards?”
“Dinner,” Felix replied. “You?”
“Probably gonna eat at home and work on some tracks I’ve had in my drafts,” Han confessed. “Dad’s working late and Mom didn’t want to go out without him, so I said we can skip the fancy dinner.” He watched as Felix looked around for his family and nudged him. “You know they’re not here, right? I’m talking about your exchange student family, not your real one.”
“I didn’t think they could make it,” Felix confessed. “Y/N’s got a job and her mom’s got the brother back. Y/N’s dad travels a lot for work too, so yeah. I really didn’t see him all the time when I stayed with them.”
“Ah but I’m sure they’re happy for you,” Han added. “Hey, take pics of your food – I wanna live vicariously through you while I eat cold pizza at home.”
“Why not order fresh?”
“Don’t wanna toss the leftovers – it’s Domino’s!” Han protested.
Felix rolled his eyes and bid his friend goodbye as he pushed his way through the sea of students trying to find their parents and family. He spotted Olivia and made a beeline for the seating area where they were.
“Dad’s getting the car so we can just go to the restaurant,” Olivia explained. “Don’t ask me for spoilers – I don’t know and Rachel doesn’t either. We’re all in the dark about where we’re going for dinner.”
“Wonder what the big secret is with this place,” Felix murmured.
                                                   -------------
“Felix was that Han next to you at the ceremony?”
“Um yeah Mum, he’s not doing anything tonight,” Felix explained. “Said his parents weren’t able to make plans, but he’s okay with it I guess.”
“Aww I wish we had known – he could have joined us,” Mrs. Lee sighed.
“I’m not sure they would have accommodated the last minute change to the reservation though,” Mr. Lee reminded his wife. “Hey, I’ll let you out here and I’ll go park. It should be under my name.”
Felix followed his sisters out of the car and Mrs. Lee headed to the entrance to check in. He held the door open for his sisters and a couple leaving the restaurant, then entered the restaurant. The place didn’t look familiar and the name didn’t ring a bell. He tried to recall if any of his friends talked about any hot restaurants they wanted to try some day, but gave up when none came to mind.
“Yes we can seat you now and when your husband gets here, we can direct him to your table,” the host explained. He picked up some menus and and asked the family to follow him. “Some of your party already checked in.”
What?
Felix frowned when he heard that comment and he hurried to follow the host. That couldn’t be right. His grandparents, aunts, and uncles couldn’t come today and even Cousin Chan wasn’t available. (Unless the latter lied and brought their mutual friend Changbin as a surprise.)
The host rounded the corner and stepped to the side while using his free arm to gesture to the table in front of him. Felix stopped short once he rounded the corner and he blinked when he saw who was sitting at the reserved table.
Your mom stood up from her seat and smiled warmly at Felix, before greeting Mrs. Lee and thanking her for the invitation. You pushed yourself out of your chair and started to make your way around the table, but were crushed by Felix running to give you a big hug.
“I thought you were working,” Felix half-whispered.
“Got time off and Mom had some travel points to use,” you explained. “Your mom invited us but wanted to make it a big surprise.”
Olivia nudged Rachel and shook her head. “Told you he replaced us.”
“What?!” Felix sputtered. “I did not!”
“I’m just his host family pen pal I guess,” you responded with a shrug. “Believe me, he talked a lot about both of you and how much he missed you. Wish I could have said the same for my brother, but yeah.”
Your mom threw you a cross look and you sighed as you mumbled that your brother was okay. “I’ll pretend I care about the little gremlin,” you sighed. You looked over at Felix’s sisters and added that they were lucky to have him as a brother.
The pair exchanged a look and Rachel pretended to look thoughtful. “Well come to mention it, we were thinking of trading him in–”
“Hey!” Felix protested.
“We’re only kidding Lix,” Olivia reassured him. “Come on, let’s order – I’m hungry.”
Felix took a seat next to you and cupped his hand under his chin. “So what’s new since I left?”

Tips on getting USA Visa approved!
To study in the US, you require a student visa in addition to having excellent marks. However, obtaining a visa can be challenging, so we are here to help.
  Visa & Immigration   Apr 1, 2023  0   411  Add to Reading List
You must apply for a student visa if you intend to study in the United States as an undergraduate or graduate student. The type of study program you will enroll in determines the visa type you require. Each year, several international students seek to study full-time at US colleges. To study in the US, you require a student visa in addition to having excellent marks. However, obtaining a visa can be challenging, so we're here to help.
ReadWHAT TO DO IF YOUR STUDENT VISA GETS REJECTED?
All overseas applicants, including those without US citizenship or permanent residency, are required to first obtain a US student visa. This ensures that they lawfully attend the university in the US. This international student visa enables you to temporarily remain in the US while participating in an authorized academic exchange programme, language programme, or school.
We will provide the fundamentals of visas and how to obtain a student visa for the United States in this blog. We'll also provide you with some pointers and resources you can use to make sure the procedure for applying for a visa goes as easily as possible.
The process for applying for an F-1 visa is similar to and identical to that of an M-1 and J-1 visa. Therefore, the three US student visa categories are all compatible with the application process described below.
Here are the general steps for getting a US Visa:

1. Apply to a US institution: You must first apply to and be accepted by a school, college, or university in the United States. The institution will provide you with a Form I-20, which is a document you need to apply for a student visa.
2. Acceptance to a US educational institution: You must be accepted into a US educational institution and have a valid Form I-20, a document that verifies your acceptance and outlines the details of your program.
3. SEVIS fee: You must pay the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) fee, which is a fee that supports the system that maintains information on international students and exchange visitors.
4. Submit DS-160 Form: You must complete the DS-160 form, an online nonimmigrant visa application.
5. Passport: You must have a valid passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the date of your intended stay in the US.
6. Application fee: You must pay the visa application fee which is non-refundable.
7. Interview: You must attend an interview at a US embassy or consulate in your home country. Wait times for interviews can vary depending on the location, so applying well before your planned departure date is recommended.
8. Attend the interview: You will need to attend the visa interview in person. During the interview, a consular officer will ask questions about your intended study program, ties to your home country, and your ability to fund your education.
9. Wait for your visa: If your visa application is approved, your passport will be returned to you with the visa attached. If it is denied, you will receive a letter explaining the reason for the denial.
In addition to these steps, you may also need to provide additional documentation, such as academic transcripts, proof of financial support, and evidence of ties to your home country.
After you finish your course, the student visa expires at a given stipulated time. You will have to leave the US at that point. You may later visit the US on a different visa, which is appropriate for your circumstance or situation.
How can you be sure there won't be any issues along the way?
Follow the advice we've provided below to make sure your visa application procedure goes smoothly.

Great Ace Attorney/Demon Slayer AU or Crossover where in preparation for the first overseas exchange students with Japan, Klint (21) heads to Japan with Barok (11); after a few months in being in the country, while Klint is in a nearby town, the locale he and Barok were staying at is attacked by a demon, leaving Barok as the only 'survivor'
Klint returns to the bloody mess and attempts to get his brother help, when Barok - now a demon - attacks him, however Klint is able to calm him down. Unsure on where to go or what to do next, the two wander Japan in hopes of helping Barok become a human once more, if that's possible
Look man I've only watched the anime I dunno how everything and everyone will fit in. Some ideas I DO have are;
- Genshin (and possibly his wife) are Hashira
- When Klint and Barok fail to return to Britian, Lady Baskerville and Gregson head to Japan themselves to find them
- Barok becomes good friends with Rengoku's younger brother Senjuro
- Baskerville and Gregson are found by a Hashira and are taken in by the Demon Slayer Corps (this is during the two year period where I guess Klint would be training? IDK maybe a former Hashira took him in?)
- Yuujin studies under Doctor Tamayo and is her assistant alongside Yushiro. He is fully aware they are demons
- Jigoku is a newer member of the Demon Slayer Corps (has only been a member for a year)
- Ryuunosuke (who's three years old) is the one taken by the Demon in the Tsuzumi Mansion arc, leading his parents to beg for help from the demon Slayer Corps. Baskerville and Gregson end up heeding their call (despite not being fully trained) and successfully save Ryuunosuke
- This is also where Jigoku comes into the story; he's been working with another corp member in getting people out of the mansion, but while Baskerville and Gregson try to save Ryuunosuke, the corp member Jigoku was working with dies
- Ryuunosuke's parents later join the demon Slayer Corps, with his mother becoming a Kakushi and his father becoming a Slayer (they do this in exchange for Ryuunosuke's safety by having him reside at the demon Slayer Corps headquarters)
- Kazuma (same age as ryuunosuke) resides at the headquarters and is mainly looked after by his mother, but his father watches over him also
- the reason future exchange students like Genshin are demon Slayers and don't show interest in the exchange program is because... Well, I mean their country is at war with demons
- that's also why Klint came to Japan in the first place; the Japanese government was hesitant on sending exchange students or accepting any because of the demons (they didn't tell Klint this though), so Klint thought coming down to Japan itself may help the process of accepting students. It did not
- yeah no one told Klint about the demons. Well... They did, but Klint assumed them to be folktales then there actually being demons
- no I have no idea how the whole GAA story will turn out (if it happens at all in this AU) because by the time Barok is turned back into a human, that's when exchange students in GAA arrive in London, but that doesn't happen here because they JUST ended the war with the demons (OK so I know a BIT of the manga--)
- Also everyone becomes close friends so even if it DID still happen, I wonder if Barok and Kazuma would despise one another as they do in canon (well Kazuma despises Barok) or if things would go differently. Also that means ryuunosuke knows both Barok and Kazuma from a young age and gets roped in quicker--
I'll probably add onto this another time, I just wanted to get this idea out there and maybe push people to make art of Klint and Barok as Tanjiro and Nezuko (because fuck man I'm trying but Klint your hair sucks to draw fuck you)
If you wanna add onto this, feel free to! Especially manga readers! If I didn't already scare you away with my lack of knowledge

Navigating the IELTS and PTE Maze: Understanding Exam Fees and Value
If you're looking for a way to flourish academically or professionally in English, you've probably encountered two strong rivals: the IELTS and the PTE exams. But, before we get started on the study resources and mock tests, let's take a step back and discuss a topic that often goes unnoticed but is critical to your strategy: exam fees and value. In this blog, we'll look at the expenses of the PTE and IELTS exams in Dubai and how they might benefit your language learning journey.
Tumblr media
The Initial Cost Dilemma
So you've made the brave choice to demonstrate your English ability to the world, but now comes the million-dollar issue - or, more accurately, the hundred-dollar one: how much will it cost you? Brace yourself for both the IELTS and PTE exams are not free. However, the initial price varies according to your location and chosen exam.
Let's first talk about IELTS. The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, is a tried-and-true favourite among language students worldwide. Regarding prices, IELTS frequently uses a defined pricing system established by test facilities. This system means that the test cost remains consistent no matter where you take it. However, pricing may vary significantly depending on test type (Academic or general training) and extra amenities such as fast grading.
On the other hand, we have the Pearson Test of English (PTE), an emerging test that has gained popularity in the past few years. Unlike IELTS, PTE exam fees in Doha are more flexible, with prices ranging by region and need. PTE may be less expensive in some locations than IELTS; in others, you may have to pay a little more. It's like a sort of monetary whack-a-mole; you never know where the fees will appear next!
But Wait, there is More: Additional Expenses and Hidden Treasures.
Ah, however, we're not finished yet. While the exam enrollment price is the most noticeable, additional charges hide in the darkness, waiting to sabotage your finances. From instructional resources and training classes to transportation and lodging (especially if you're going somewhere to take the exam), the total expense of your language excursion can quickly mount up.
However, do not allow these increased costs to deter you. Consider them as investments rather than obligations. Enrolling in a respected prep program or purchasing excellent study materials will significantly improve your likelihood of success. Furthermore, don't underestimate the precious value of learning English - it's an eternal asset worth more than money.
Evaluating the Value Proposition: What You Get for Your Money
Now that we've covered the financials, let's address the elephant in the room: value. Indeed, both IELTS and PTE exam fees in Doha cost money, but what do you get in exchange? Things get intriguing in this situation because the value offered differs based on your specific requirements and choices.
With IELTS, you will receive a time-tested examination accepted by thousands of organizations globally. Whether you want to flourish academically or find work overseas, an exceptional IELTS score can help you advance. Furthermore, let's not overlook the crucial comments supplied by IELTS examiners, which can help discover areas for growth and fine-tune your language abilities.
On the other hand, PTE takes an unusual approach to language testing, relying on the latest innovations to provide quick and reliable results. If you're a technology expert who excels in a digital setting, PTE could be a good fit. Furthermore, the digital format means you'll get your results sooner, allowing you to speed up the registration procedure and stay ahead of the other applicants.
Expanding on the Exam Experience: Test Formats and Scoring Systems
Now that we've scratched the surface let's delve deeper into the exam experience. IELTS and PTE come in different flavours, each catering to specific purposes and skill sets. Understanding the nuances of these test formats can help you choose the one that best aligns with your strengths and objectives.
In the case of IELTS, you have two main options: the Academic module and the General Training module. The Academic module is typically preferred by individuals seeking admission to universities or professional registration, whereas the General Training module is geared towards immigration purposes or non-academic training. Each module assesses four essential language skills – Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking – with scores ranging from 0 to 9 for each section.
Meanwhile, PTE keeps things simple with a single test format that covers all language proficiency levels. The exam consists of three main sections – Speaking and Writing, Reading, and Listening – and is entirely computer-based. What sets PTE apart is its use of automated scoring algorithms, which provide objective and consistent evaluation of your language skills. Plus, the computerized format means you'll interact with digital interfaces and respond to prompts in a virtual environment, so make sure you're comfortable with technology before diving in.
Preparing for Battle: Study Strategies and Resources
Now that you have a clearer picture of what to expect from each exam, it's time to roll up your sleeves and get down to business – preparation. As the saying goes, "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail," so don't skimp on your study efforts. A solid study plan can make all the difference, whether aiming for a perfect score or simply hoping to pass with flying colours.
When it comes to study resources, the options are virtually endless. From traditional textbooks and practice tests to online courses and mobile apps, there's no shortage of materials to help you sharpen your skills. Consider your learning style, budget, and schedule when choosing your study materials, and don't be afraid to mix and match until you find what works best for you.
In Conclusion: Making Informed Choices for Your Language Journey
As you embark on your quest for English proficiency, remember that the journey is as important as the destination. While exam fees and value are important considerations, they're just one piece of the puzzle. Your dedication, perseverance, and passion for learning will propel you forward.
