Tumblr media
Do you want your oc to get more clout in the competition? Do you want more art of your oc but are too tired/busy to make one? Do you just want art of your oc for the heck of it? Lucky for you, I have the motivation to draw, but no inspiration to pair it with! My brain is simply not braining. Also the ocs here have yummy designs and I wanna draw them.
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.

Ramblings about OCs that nobody asked for: Bell edition (color motifs)
Tumblr media
As of writing this, this post has been sitting in my drafts for some time now. With the next chapter being delayed and stuff, I decided to finish this draft instead so I don't feel bad about the delayed update.
So let's talk about my thought process while developing Bell!
After watching the show, I already knew what I wanted in my first oc.
I wanted them to be blue.
Blue in the show is usually depicted on characters who are methodical and manipulative. LBD, the curse, and possibly the ten kings fall under this. Maybe even Azure if you stretch it a bit.
Other than that, my idea of my oc being blue stemmed from the colors of the traffic light trio's colors. Out of all other colors, Red, Yellow, and Green are usually seen with Blue. You see it in Kahoot games, in Google, in Windows, in UNO cards. It also plays with the red oni, blue oni trope when it comes to Bell and Red Son's dynamic.
Another reason for choosing the color blue is that I wanted Bell to have water powers from the beginning. It made sense if I were to group him with the trio, as a way to balance Red Son's fire powers. It also made sense since it paralleled to LBD's ice.
While imagining the actual shades of blue I wanted to use, I looked at blue screens as to reference Bell's ability to hack. I also looked at both luminol and invisible ink under UV light to reference deception (and the importance of reading the fine print when signing contracts cuz that's a reoccurring theme with this guy).
There's other reasons behind this that I won't disclose right now to avoid spoilers.
That brings us to another thing I wanted Bell to have in the beginning.
A chess motif.
I think we can all agree that there are a lot of game motifs in the show, especially references to chess. One of the rules in chess is that white moves first, which is reflected by LBD's color scheme, and how long she's been alive and executing her plans.
While her palette is blue and white, Bell's palette is blue and black. Bell is player 2.
As a bonus, while LBD's peaceful colors mark her as being more deceptive than the edgier color palettes of other villains, Bell's black and blue also reflects his less than ethical methods. AKA his edgier colors in contrast to the bright color palettes of the main cast.
Good Guanyin, do I love color motifs in this show-

Note
(now it's just ask box spamming)
The blue aesthetic reminds me the one from Persona 3 remake
I searched it up and yep, I can see why. Bell would probably blend into the background like a chameleon if you smacked him into any of the blue backgrounds.

Okay I just can’t get over how poetic Rasmus’s habit of weaving history into fabric sounds
Honestly I want to draw the gang wearing his designs one of these days, maybe in a magazine cover format or sumn. Hopefully I'll have enough motivation to last through the entire drawing process and not just leave it as another wip💀

How would Rasmus react if he met Ming?(oc is not mine)
@tigerity's oc
Rasmus would be curious about Ming's tiger heritage, and might want to learn more in the same way he'd want Mei to explain her dragon heritage. He may or may not come off as insensitive, but there's a chance that he'd flunk it in that department.
If Ming does decide to tell him about her heritage and the stories surrounding it, Rasmus might try to draw inspiration from that. He'd ask permission to create a casual tiger-themed design and have Ming model for him. Then he'd ask permission to pitch the idea to the fashion designer mentoring him.
Chances are, he would also occasionally spend some time in the store Ming works at as well, since he has a sweet tooth. He wouldn't mind striking a friendly conversation either if she's not too busy, and may or may not notice her crush on MK. He wouldn't do much about it though other than bring it up once in a while, since he considers matchmaking as Alix's thing and not his.
(edit: wait what are their pronouns again?)

Gibby's Reference Sheet and Description:
Tumblr media
Everyone knows who the Monkey King is, but what about the three other celestial primates? The Six-Eared Macaque is rumored to lurk the shadows, while even less is known about the Horse Mandrill.
But once you hear little bells ring, that's how you know Gibby is near.
Gibby, or the Long-Armed Gibbon, was once a captive of the calabash, and was freed by Guanyin on the condition of guiding Bell through a mission involving the other passengers. She would then be tethered to the water hero, effectively making her visible only to him.
Gibby can be described as someone who is childlike, which is effectively what Gibby is despite being older than Red Son. Like a child, she can be easily bored and impatient if not given anything fun to do, and values pinkie swears like a blood oath.
She used to be a lot more unpredictable, but simmered down after the incident that led to her imprisonment. Despite this, she still tries to brighten up people's day, even if it meant getting Bell to it in her place.
Due to being tethered to Bell, she temporarily doesn't have access to most of her powers. The only powers she can currently use is astral projection, and her 'gut feelings'. Or better known as her ability to distinguish the auspicious from inauspicious. But she thinks that's a really weird way to say gut feelings.
Out of all four celestial primates, Gibby has the most whimsical abilities. She can breathe out stardust that can send people to sleep. The stardust can also form clones, not too different from Wukong's hair or Macaque's shadows. Her other abilities aren't that well documented, so they are currently unknown.
Gibby is an easily excitable person, especially when it comes to meeting and befriending new people. That extends to animals as well, assigning names to every little critter she meets. She likes learning new things as well, and tell about it to as many people as possible with the excitement of learning something new.
Despite her childlike nature, Gibby has her own secrets hidden away from view. There are many events about her past that she'd rather keep unspoken, something she and Bell have in common.
What is known is that she has known Wukong for a long time now, harboring some resentment over an event she refused to elaborate on. Even with that in mind, she decided to give Wukong a second chance, slowly repairing their sibling-like relationship. She isn't as familiar with Macaque, only finding out about him after being tethered, and her knowledge on the Horse Mandrill is completely null.
Another known fact about her past was that she was once a jester-like figure in the Celestial Realm, being an enjoyable person to be around for most celestials. She doesn't see the Celestial Realm as the joyful place she once saw it as, though, her view now slightly soured.
The title of the first person to notice that something was wrong belongs to Gibby, her gut feelings predicting the Lady Bone Demon enacting her plans. If Gibby wants to be untethered, then she'll have to give her all to guide Bell through the mission Guanyin gave them. But she won't be able to do that with the bone demon sabotaging it for her own goals of achieving destiny.
Of course, this might be a bit more difficult with Bell being the only one that can see her. Well, that's assuming that she can't be seen through golden vision.
"Catch me if you can!"

Rasmus' Reference Sheet and Description:
Tumblr media
There are a lot if ways to leave a first lasting impression. Maybe you dress a certain way. Maybe you have a peculiar speech pattern with the accent to back it up.
Maybe you don't leave the house without spraying cologne on yourself, or maybe you know a weird amount of medical facts that would give anyone health anxiety (or would make anyone think you got away with disposing a body).
Rasmus definitely checks all of those boxes. Most know him as the young Indian tailor Alix scouted, now under the apprenticeship of her parent. If not that, then he would be known for being a junior photojournalist for a local cosmopolitan magazine.
With an eye for detail, Rasmus can sometimes be seen carrying a camera with him. If not for his magazine submissions, then for inspiration. That inspiration becomes a sketch, then it becomes a fashion piece that anyone would want their hands on.
His comfort zone is usually things that aren't too fancy, such as jackets, overalls, pants and so on. He isn't opposed to challenging himself though, already experiencing making dresses for weddings and quinceañeras. This usually leaves him a bit more tired however, and it's almost always expected for someone to walk into the finished product...with Rasmus asleep on the floor.
Rasmus... didn't realize he wanted to be a fashion designer until after he graduated. Before that, he was completely indecisive on what career path he wanted to take. This left him feeling like he was wasting his parents' money, going to his education which he felt like he wasn't taking advantage of.
That was something he wanted to correct, which led to him taking an overseas gap year program in China. He planned to build his independence by being in another country, while also having someone like Alix to guide him through the process. This gap year is a chance to prove that he is capable of making his own choices, without the influence of his parents' status.
So he accepted the apprenticeship offer.
Although not being a surgeon himself, being raised by one gifted him with the learned ability to sew. What started as 'operating on plush toys' became an interest in embroidery, an element he likes to incorporate in his work.
Another interest of his is the surrounding mythos in China, especially as a foreigner such as himself. He would pay homage to these myths and legends by referencing them in his embroidered designs.
With Alix being the foreign exchange student that graduated with him, the two have formed a close bond that showed through their interests. Much like Alix herself, Rasmus is quite active in the website dedicated to the mysteries surrounding Megapolis.
If one squinted closely, they would notice that whoever the most recent villain was to attack, was referenced in his embroidery days before. It was through this that he also caught the eye of the back-up hero. Whether or not he has abilities inherited from someone else is still unknown. After all...
India is the west of Journey To The West.
"Do you notice a pattern?"

Alix's Reference Sheet and Description:
Tumblr media
What happens if you mix an upbeat makeup artist with a drill sergeant persona? You get Alix! Alix learned pretty early in life to pull herself by her bootstraps if she wanted someone to go her way.
This was especially true since she is the youngest of four siblings, the other three not exactly embodying the responsible brother archetype that she needed when their parents are busy. Something that happens a lot, especially if one parent is a known fashion designer, and the other is a news anchor.
Currently spending a gap year before going to college, she's currently in charge of keeping tabs of the performers that rent the theater she's in, even going a step further by offering to get involved with the directing herself. When that happens, that's when she pulls out her whistle and use her drill sergeant voice.
Needless to say, she's a no-nonsense girl with the skills to back it up.
She's not opposed to building her portfolio outside of the theater either, playing a part in the makeup for the New Years parade. Her skills vary from traditional theater, to realistic gore. Her skills have gotten so good, she even has a following for her makeup tutorials and transformation videos.
Hairstyling is another thing she's interested in, but she finds it a bit more difficult. She's interested in cosmetic chemistry itself, but one would know better than to leave Alix of all people in a lab. That girl exists to ignore lab safety procedures.
Being part fox spirit, Alix is given more leeway when it comes to illusions and glamour, not being as limited compared to the average demon. This allows her to experiment with looks without needing to spend hours on herself for just another normal day.
It's because of this that people aren't surprised to see her suddenly having different hair colors and such, especially looks that she keeps on theme to the play she was directing that day. She doesn't stop at that either, as she likes to dress in accordance to the theme of the play.
Outside of work, she's much more casual, not afraid to sneak in some tea she overheard from different people. Alix has connections, and the gossip that comes with it. Despite being aroace herself, she takes a bit from one of her parents' matchmaking skills, able to successfully set people up with each other and gaining the title of Megapolis' Cupid.
If she's not planning on setting someone up with a date, she's setting someone up for a job. Having the connections she has made her keep an eye out for any underappreciated talent. Contrary to popular belief however, she is no socialite.
With all of this in mind, it's easy to get intimidated by her. But in reality, she's more approachable and pleasant to be around when one gets to know her better outside of work or reputation.
But with all that said, there is one other side of Alix that shows up the most during her free time. Being a history buff for different ancient groups, cults, and organizations, Alix found herself as one of the users of a website dedicated to the mysteries surrounding Megapolis. It was through this website that a certain water hero took an interest in her findings.
"You didn't hear it from me."

Bell's Reference Sheet and Description:
Tumblr media
When you hear the word 'hero, you'd most likely think of someone who is kind, and does good deeds and selfless acts for the benefit of all. They are a model citizen that everyone should strive to become.
That...is not Bell
If someone were to describe him, they'd call him that nonchalant water bending back-up hero with a bit of a mischief streak.
They're not wrong, but it's not exactly the full story either.
With his charisma and cunning as his main weapons, Bell isn't above doing things like manipulating people and events, causing domino effects in the process. He isn't above faking IDs, blackmail, or holding valuable information above someone's head.
One would wonder what happened in his past that made him the person he is now, but all they'll get from him would be another fabricated lie about his background.
Bell... doesn't like this side of himself, but he grew up with the cynical view that there isn't much he could do about it. He doesn't believe he can be a good person, that he's capable of growth and change. He's learned to be content with that, but sometimes it takes a bit more effort to not think about it.
Though what is currently known about his past is inconsistent, there are at least some things that aren't. Bell is Chinoy (Filipino with Chinese ancestry) and is one of many passengers that drowned from a sinking incident involving a Philippine cruise ship that was supposed to reach Chinese shores.
Supposedly, the storm that caused the sinking was caused by supernatural means, which prompted Guanyin, Goddess of Mercy, to give these passengers a second chance at life. One by one, a passenger would find themselves washed up years after the sinking, on the beach of the nearest coastal city in China.
Megapolis.
Bell is the last passenger to surface. And for reasons he wouldn't say, he's the only one still standing.
When it comes to powers, he mostly relies on water manipulation, but he can also cast illusions on anything he is currently touching. Another power he has is the ability to phase through people and objects for as long as he could hold his breath. He only received these abilities after washing up. Curiously, none of the other passengers received this ability.
Speaking off washing up, after Mei broke into the fenced-off beach and found Bell barely being conscious, she brought him to Pigsy's to recover. Ever since the events of DBK's first attack, Sandy has been letting Bell live in the boat, since he had nowhere else to go.
Being the person that Bell is, it would be no surprise that he would catch on to the suspicious activity regarding a certain bone demon. In fact, he first found out about it when he removed the spy camera Mei attached on him, and attached it on Red Son instead, giving him a good look of this very suspicious crypt that the bull clones were mining.
With LBD moving in the background, Bell will have no other option but to rely on the same manipulative tactics to counter the bone demon. Because as the saying goes...
"Two can play that game."

Intro Post:
Ello folks! The time has come that I do something in this place that isn't just lurking and doing the occasional commenting/reposting, so yay first post!
I usually post in reddit more, but I'm slowly starting to lean more into posting here as well. Only reason I didn't at first is because I was still trying to get used to tumblr itself.
I still am.
But y'know, the more I lurked here, the more I wanted to join in on the fun, especially oc-wise. I have a couple ocs that I want to share myself, though I'll probably make a separate post dedicated to detailed descriptions of each + ref sheets. But speaking of ocs, those of you that use wattpad or quotev, might recognize this one.
Tumblr media
Yep, that's Bell, my main oc. Chances are, you might have heard of him from my fanfic Ship In A Bottle. The gist of his character is: What if there was someone on the good side who can level the playing field LBD created? The black chess pieces against her army of white?
That's where Bell comes in. The person most think to be just the back-up hero that occasionally steps into battle when MK and Mei need an extra hand.
Gee, I wonder what his powers are.
He doesn't come into public eye as often as the M&Ms do, but that's either because he's busy moving the black pieces on the board...
Or he's just lazy.
His dynamic with the main gang boils down to 'older brother who's supposed to keep the two hyperactive siblings from doing anything stupid, but also wants to see what would happen without getting in trouble himself.'
Tumblr media
His ref sheet (using the lego art style) will be posted along with my other ocs' refs + a more detailed description of him. You can find more about them yourself by reading Ship In A Bottle in either Wattpad or Quotev. One thing I want to note though, it's written in a reader-insert format that uses she/her pronouns at the beginning chapters.
This is because I only got the idea of making him a guy in the middle of writing, and I didn't want current readers to feel cheated on. You'll notice in later chapters that Bell shifts more into using they/them pronouns. Maybe when I post the fic on Ao3, I'll edit it with he/him pronouns.
OCs and Characters like Bell, MK, and Mei are also written as teens in the fic, just in case that doesn't sit right with you.
Anyway before I end the post, I'll leave you guys with this. If I had to describe Bell (or the fic in general) in one sentence, I'd go with:
Blue is a really funny color.
So that's my introduction post! Don't worry. Chances are, while you're reading this, I'm already working on the ref sheets and descriptions. Don't be scared to ask questions even if I can't figure out how ask boxes work yet but baby steps!
Here's to my first post on tumblr, and thank you for your time!

I always thought it was because LBD had ice powers, and only the Samadhi fire could melt it or sumn
Can somebody explain to me why Wukong needs to use the Samadhi Fire to kill LBD? Like I get his reason but why? What could the fire do that it is specifically needed for this situation. (I know he basically overpowers her in the special but ignore that.)
I came up with something lame like, "He uses the fire so he could burn her from existence because he's tired of her resurrection bs."
There's nothing in the show that explains why Wukong needs to use the fire. (Unless there was something and I completely missed it.)
I wanna know the opinions and head cannons of others and it also gives me the opportunity to connect with the fandom.
So please reblog this with your thoughts and theories I would love to see what you guys think.
