Going through the 2001-2003 Templar Studios games and animations again because of course, and something hit me
Tumblr media
Vakama just uses the Sacred Fire as an excuse to share things he already knows from Metru Nui but make it appear like he's also only just hearing from it, right? Matoran or Tahu come to him with a question, he has the information but if he just gives it to them they'll be pissed at him for not sharing it sooner and also question how he knows in the first place, so he just gazes into this fancy fire and pretend he is also only just finding out, everybody happy
And I suppose the other Turaga do similar things: Nuju uses the stars (which isn't even a complete lie), Nokama probably consults the waves, etc.
And then there's Matau
And I'm sorry but there's only one way I can envision this happening:
Lewa: Turaga, what are those creaturethings coming from Makuta? Matau: Let's quickask the Almighty Kewa *walks to a branch on which a Kewa is just chilling* Matau: Mighty Kewa, what are the creaturethings coming from the darkgrounds of Mata Nui? Kewa: *caws once* Matau: they're namecalled Bohrok, and their dutygoal is to destroy. Their powerstrength is their Krana, and you need to quickfly and collect all their Kranatypes so the way to their nestlair will be opened Lewa: *confusion* Kongu: don't doubtask it
For added hilarity he always asks a different Kewa but insists that the one he's asking this time is The Almighty Kewa

Rahaga Nuju of Ko-Wahi.
Wise but reclusive and enigmatic, Nuju prefers to spend his time alone, staring up into the night sky and scouring the outskirts of Ko-Wahi for any wayward Matoran using the specialized mask eye-pieces designed by Rahaga Vakama.
Although his rounds have saved many a Matoran, Nuju has been known to needlessly search and dig through the snow-dunes when all Matoran are accounted for.
We don't know why he does this.
For multiple reasons, he only communicates in bird-speak, a language few fully understand, even his fellow Rahaga, but he is always patient, often repeating words for his translators.
A few Ko-Matoran say that they have heard him speak in a whispered, broken voice in the snow-dunes alone night, as if he is talking to a ghost.
Of course, language barriers don't slow his progress restoring the data retrieved from the Knowledge Shards that periodically erupt from underneath Mount Ihu. Sometimes, if the shards contain data regarding Toa, he will enter an uncharacteristic fit of rage and shatter them, quickly repurposing them into telescopes, mirrors, and other decorations, all the while repeating mournful bird-song.
I don't think he knows why he does this.
...I think it distresses him.
Nokama theorizes that the Rahi attributes Nuju received from the Hordika venom come from Snow Pokawis and Crystal Climbers.
Songs: Fukurou (KOKIA), Secunda (TES: Skyrim OST), Mimir (God of War 2018 OST)

GO GO HORDIKA RANGERS
A less traumatic approach to the Toa Hordika redesign
Oh boy, where to start? Since I had alot going behind the scenes redesigning these. Well lets start with me having an idea to basically having the Rahi be like Power Rangers' helmet motive. So did a research on their Rahi, personality, profession, etc.
So ended up being: Tiger (Vakama), Shark (Nokama), Snake (Matau), Owl (Nuju), Bull (Onewa), and Boar (Whenua) (Was thinking of mole at first but somehow the final design makes it look more like a tapir-ish boar than a mole). Then had an idea to incorporate their Metru masks as their helmets' lower half, which then made me realize that pretty much their Hordika masks are just "Elongated Face, with Horizontal Markings". So had to get a bit creative with that.
Then had to design their silhouettes/bodytypes since, might as well. So scoured their set heights from photos and building instructions. Ended up with having their Turaga forms as the main height reference and then mixed up with their Metru Height.
Also designed custom Hordika chest pieces, which then prompts me to scour every toa team ever (+Bohrok and the Kals, cause why not).
So yes, its a lot of work. I have no idea why I do this to myself.

Toa Hordika pack sleeping together.
Tumblr media
I had this idea when I remembered Matau saying something along the lines of "I better be with my pack-team!" And thought they would look lovely all snuggled together like actual rahi lmao
That was far from happening tho, they were very dysfunctional during that time 😵‍💫

Water for Gali was a sister, a second half, an extension. In the water she was whole, embraced, with nothing to fear.
Water for Nokama was an escape, a bubble of respite. Somewhere nobody could snag her, bother her, search for her.
Water for Hahli was a home and battle ground. She was invincible within it, untouchable, unbreakable, unreachable.
Air for Lewa was a safety net, a support; a pair of outstretched arms always ready to catch him before it was too late.
Air for Matau was a vehicle, another means of transport; something he had to master lest he break his bones upon it.
Air for Kongu was a second skin, a third limb; he knew better than anyone its shifting secrets, its so quiet language.
Fire for Tahu was an old rival. It curled on him, molded itself in his image, quipping amiably as they fought together.
Fire for Vakama was a tepid gaze. It reached out timidly, barely still burning, asking to be allowed in his hands again.
Fire for Jaller was a solemn promise. One he would need to hold tight, strengthened by discipline, to do right by it.
Ice for Kopaka was a taste of wilderness, carelessness, freedom; it was howling alone, dancing wildly in the silence.
Ice for Nuju was a breath of stillness, study, tranquillity; it was gazing in endless white to decode the world on his own.
Ice for Matoro was a scent of expectation, fear, tenderness; he entrusted to it his footprints, hoping they'd last.
Earth for Onua was peace and quiet. The songs it rumbled through him soothed him like kind hands easing his worries.
Earth for Whenua was reflection and wait. The stories it had written on its skin kept him company like many old friends.
Earth for Nuparu was knowledge and innovation. He heard in it his own voice as he mumbled during tireless workdays.
Stone for Pohatu was a rough comfort forced soft; when he wrapped it around himself like a blanket, he felt safe, warm.
Stone for Onewa was a tough tool forced smooth; when he shaped it according to his vision, he felt in control, certain.
Stone for Hewkii was a lean muscle forced strong; a part of himself that he exercised apart, to carve it into its zenith.

FINALLY!! Nuju and Onewa's hordika humanizations are DONE!
Drawing/deciding their animal forms was a bit difficult, but in the end, I'm happy with how they turned out~ And with a lil cameo from Krahka in her favorite form.

This is pedantic, but I work as an interpreter now.
Anyway, "translating" is when you change someone from a language to another in writing, when it's verbally is called "interpreting"; Matoro is Nuju's interpreter, he interprets, he doesn't translate

Turaga Nuju sat alone in the observatory of a Knowledge Tower. All the lightstones in the chamber had been doused. He watched the stars make their flight across the sky in silence. His exaltation over Mata Nui's revival had been replaced by grief over the Toa lost in the fight.
Many centuries ago, disaster had forced the Matoran of Metru Nui and their Toa to relocate to a wild, previously unknown land. That disaster had in part been caused by the pride and overconfidence of the Toa Metru, of whom Nuju was one. After the Toa became the village elders called Turaga, they had tried to put the past behind them—all but Nuju. He adopted the language of flying Rahi birds in place of Matoran, only speaking the common language in emergencies. It was his way of reminding the others of what they had been through and the dangers of arrogance.
Of course, speaking another language meant Nuju needed a translator so others could understand him. He chose a Ko-Matoran hunter/tracker with a real respect for the natural world. Matoro had seemed taken aback by the offer, but eventually agreed to be tutored in Nuju's language.
Over the next 1,000 years, the Turaga and the Matoran would be almost constant companions. Matoro had shown himself to be efficient and trustworthy, keeping all that he heard in the Turaga's councils to himself. Nuju came to rely on him, both for his skills and for his honesty. He was a reminder of the true nobility in every Matoran.
And now he was gone.
The cold, analytical side of Nuju told him this was an acceptable exchange—one Toa for the life of the universe. It was, in fact, a small price to pay for such a monumental event. Feeling regret or sadness was not logical. After all, what was the alternative—Matoro living, and the universe dying? Would that have been better? For reasons he did not understand and never would, Nuju suddenly realized that the answer might just be 'yes.'
What sort of Great Spirit requires the death of a brave, noble hero for his survival? If a being as powerful as Mata Nui could not thrive without demanding such a sacrifice, then maybe existence needed to learn to get along without Mata Nui, he thought angrily.
Nuju sighed. No, that wasn't right. If Mata Nui was not worth saving, then Matoro had died for nothing. That he could not accept.
He looked down from the observatory to the streets below. Most of the Matoran residents of the city had not heard about Matoro yet, only that their world was not going to end, after all. They were rejoicing. Nuju felt even more detached from them than usual, for in his Knowledge Tower there would be no celebration. There would be only memories of a good translator, an honest Matoran, and—Nuju finally admitted—a lost friend.
-BIONICLE Ignition, Death of a hero.
Old Matoro and Nuju fanart I made around three years ago and the first fanart I made in this style. It will never stop hurting 💔

The people have spoken!
Bionicle SCP AU!!
Big thanks to @chancetimespace for honestly entertaining this idea in the first place because this came out of left field😅
World stuff to get out of the way first:
The SCP here is basically the same as the usual SCP(Secure, Contain, Protect) with the added bonus of keeping the beings in its walls from getting out and disrupting the natural order
This is also something of a humanized au, so please bear with me
The Toa Metru are SCPs, each with their own quirks, as do other SCPs, but that's par for the course with anomalies
Lhikan, Naho, Sidorak, the Toa Mata, and Jaller are all scientists or are at least employees in the facility, with their jobs boiling down to keeping anomalies alive and in the facility. There are other workers, these are just who I thought of first
There is a facility trying to get an anomaly out, one that could possibly cause worldwide damage if set free. The anomaly has other acquaintances and allies, but it and the other facility are planning a breach
Takua/Takanuva is an anomaly
The Piraka are anomalies
There are objects that count as anomalies, namely masks. It is unknown how long these masks were tampering with natural order before their were apprehended
On to some of the SCPs themselves!
Off the bat, we have SCP-8545, Whenua. He appears to be a man in his mid-teenties to early thirties, but really he's been around since the 1200's, or so people think; 1215 was an exact year he mentioned as well as meeting philosophers and claiming they, "ruined a good day, and my lunch." Whenua can be hurt and does not regenerate, but his senses are heightened; he can see in the dark, has some level of echo location, and seems to have some level of X-Ray vision, proven when he stared at an agent and asked when they'd last been to the doctor. His Object Class is Safe and he is allowed to roam freely in the facility. He is also allowed to have belongings such as fossils he's kept with him and anitique books and objects from various points in history, including a draft drawing done by Leonardo DaVinci he claims to have won in a bet
SCP-8604, Onewa, is a mostly normal human being, but he has patches of stone on his body, most notably along his forehead, jaw, cheeks, arms, knuckles, torso, knees, back, legs, and feet. These patches make him nearly impermeable to physical damage and allow him to easily fight and gain the upper hand against other people. Also giving him an advantage, and what also made him difficult to capture, is that he has some level of telepathy, specifically making agents either forget him or ignore him. Upon his capture, he did need to be kept in a room with a two-way mirror; agents dicivered his telepathy is fully effective only when he can see his target and have their full attention on him while he commands them. Because of his telepathy and his subpar cooperation, he is classified as Euclid, only being allowed to roam if he wears a set of goggles that darken his vision and makes seeing others more difficult.
Matau, SCP-8740, also falls under the Euclid class. He is a shapeshifter, able to change his features at will and hold the appearance for as long as he wishes. Containment protocol including having a tracker injected into his body so that he could be found no matter what form he took. His original form appears to be mostly humanoid, only his skin is more reflective and scaley and he never blinks. Containment protocol has included that additions to having what is essentially an adult-sized play area in his area due to his high energy. He is only allowed outside if there is a guaranteed way to bring him back; he has had instances of nearly escaping as he slipped out of a window and formed a set of wings so he could fly.
SCP-8544 is Nuju, a human who agents found living alone with Nokama, another SCP and who was suffering from hypothermia. Nuju himself is immune to the cold and is able to love in firgid temperatures comfortably; he can be burned with heat, but rarely needs such extreme measures to be contained. He also has sharp vision and can read the stars in the sky like books, being an astronomer/astrologist, though this has translated to him being able to predict the future with steady success rates. Agents were surprised to see he had telekinetic powers, but only to the point of lifting and throwing objects and holding doors shut. His Object Class is Euclid due to his practicing using telekinesis to do more advanced things like stop a heart.
As previously mentioned, Nokama, SCP-8737, was found and apprehended with Nuju. She had been experiencing hypothermia due to swimming in a nearby frozen lake. When she recovered, she, at first, spoke to the agents in fluent Russian. When no one understood her, she spoke again in French. She spoke in various languages with perfect fluency, including dead languages such as Mayan and Latin, before finally speaking to the agents in English. When asked when she learned so many languages, she in turn asked why the agents never learned a fraction of the languages. Examination revealed she had a set of gills in her lungs, which allowed her to breathe underwater. Containment protocol is to let her have a pool in her room, as she is more comfortable underwater than above or outside of it. Object Class is Safe.
Vakama, SCP-8601, has been the longest staying anomaly of the SCPs listed. Similar to Nuju, Vakama is immune to heat, though he can be hurt by frigid temperatures. Unlike Nuju, Vakama is far more volatile as in moments of extreme distress or anger, he seems to begin to combust from the inside. When he's stable, he is safe enough to touch for prolonged periods of time, though there have been occasions where his body temperature drops until he has the same body temperature as the average human being. Agents were alerted of his presence by too many coincidences lining up with one another, namely too many premature prescribed burns and demolitions with a bit of jewelry of piece of metal artwork left behind. Vakama was found near an abandoned factory, though agents thought they'd only found a fire. Upon putting out the flame, they found and apprehended Vakama, who would explain he knew they would be in the area and wanted them to find him. They learned that Vakama could see the future, something he has no control over. During these visions, the flame grows and Vakama himself turns invisible. Despite his Euclid Object Class and permission/ability to free roam, Vakama rarely leaves his holding area, only requesting to have metal working materials and a calender
SCP-40581-1 is Takua/Takanuva, the names being used interchangeably as he can switch between two bodies, only able to inhabit one at a time. When in control of one bkdy, the other lays dormant in what appears to be a comatose state. Takua appears to be a small humanoid while Takanuva appears to be a humanoid crystal with a prominent internal glow. When asked, he explained it in a similar way to walking through a door and laying on a couch or bed. Agents have theories on how the anomaly came to be, but have more trouble keeping Takua in one place as he is apt to explore the facility(Object Class: Safe, if not mildly annoying). There have been recorded incidents of the slumbering body of Takanuva twitching and speaking. Takua claims to know nothing of what is said. It is unknown as of yet if damage to one body is carried on to the other
