The conversation around Sasuke leaving Konoha needs to change. It's true that the in-story narrative by those who don't know Sasuke is that he is a traitor that betrayed Konoha. Unfortunately, too many in the fandom take this narrative at face value. But neither Naruto or Sakura endorse this view. Although they are confused by Sasuke's choice they both know Sasuke too well.
People talk about Sasuke choosing to leave Konoha...
But no one talks about how Itachi told Sasuke he'd come back to kill him someday. And Sasuke had very good reason to think that Itachi would target anyone Sasuke got close to.
Or how about how the curse seal would have killed Sasuke if it wasn't fully activated?
Or how Orochimaru made it clear he wasn't going to stop pursuing Sasuke? How long do you think it would have been till his patience ran out and he got tired of asking nicely?
Or how about the fact that he was found and targeted while he was in the village. The village couldn't protect him. Kakashi couldn't protect him. It's even the whole reason Naruto left to train, because the village wasn't safe enough. Naruto had people looking out for him. But Sasuke didn't. He is targeted multiple times and the village didn't take any action to protect him.
Yeah, Sasuke did make a choice. The right choice. He made the best choice he could make under the circumstances and no one-- not konoha, not Naruto, not Sakura--no one was hurt more by Sasuke's choice than it hurt Sasuke to make the choice to leave and live with one of his abusers. Yet he was the only person who offered to do anything to help him deal with his other abuser. It was horrible that Sasuke had to put himself through this second trauma... And yet the fandom has the audacity to make Sasuke's trauma about Naruto?? Or about Sakura?? Sometimes it really seems like no one in this fandom gives a crap about Sasuke unless it's to prop up their stupid ships. The fandom literally treats Sasuke like crap. Sasuke didn't leave because he wanted to. He wasn't being selfish or greedy. He just took stock of his situation and made the most viable choice he had. He wasn't happy that it was. He was willing to die for Naruto and Sakura. He valued them more than than his own life. Of course he wanted to stay. But he couldn't.
Ironically the fandom has compassion for Itachi for doing what he felt like he had to do, even though he actually killed people, and when he torments Sasuke, of course even then people actually focus on Itachi. But Sasuke did something that incidentally hurt Naruto and Sakura, do he's a selfish traitor. Sasuke didn't owe Naruto or Sakura. Yes, we see Naruto cared about Sasuke, but to Sasuke's face Naruto had treated him like he was a rival he wanted to overcome more than as a friend. And Sakura? He never started a relationship with Sakura. He may have felt guilty because he was abandoning his duty to Konoha.... the irony.
Sasuke lost everything once, and then he lost everything again when he was forced to leave it all behind. And it killed him. That Sasuke, the part one Sasuke who sometimes acted his age, he died. Sasuke killed him, so he could survive. It was yet another traumatic experience in his life.
That's the conversation we should be having about Sasuke leaving.

If you ever think your least favourite ship is the worst, just remember that Naruhina had to…
mutilate and fridge a 14 year old girl.
Tumblr media
And then kill off a fan favourite character.
Tumblr media
In order to pull off the ass pull of the century by making two characters with barley any page time of interactions end up together purely for the sake of fan service.

Every time I see any GoT edits, especially the ones with Daenerys, I always think about how the writers of the series got everything wrong about her character. I swear to God these mfers don't even know how to write a female character and how they reduced her to a h*micidal m*niac when in fact she's not like that. They literally have no idea about her entire story

The shikasaku ship is superior simply because genius x genius in the friends to lovers way is just That good. and before you haters come at me saying sakura's not a genius, let me tell you that a) shut up b) sakura is a civilian born ninja and most people had no expectation from her. all she had was her unnatural chakra control. the fact that she came that far without any genetic advantages (hint: naruto with his huge chakra reserves and sasuke with his shortcut sharingan) is amazing on its own. and the fact that she surpassed her teacher who is a SENJU btw there's advantage there, is simply incredible.
i was going to talk about shikasaku but it turn into a sakura post my bad

So I drew genin Sakura
I have no self control
Will I draw the others? Probably
Say what you want about genin Sakura, but girl had some style. That dress and trouser combo are instantly recognizable and iconic. And dare I say it, I think her genin look was better than her chunin one.
This genin Sakura is dealing with the frustration of being pretty much the only graduate of her class without an inherited kekai genkai, and then being paired with a teacher who's neglecting and ignoring her in favor of his other students with an op sharingan and a fox demon. Hard to feel exceptional when you're surrounded by all that, huh.
Yes I am calling Kakashi out. I love him, but he did Sakura dirty. And the fandom loves to shit on Sakura and call her useless, but she was literally given NOTHING. She was given nothing and had to actually work for her abilities.
And sure she can still have her little crush on Sasuke, that's fine. But she deserves a struggle/arc that doesn't revolve around that. Maybe her "love" for Sasuke is more about wanting to marry into a powerful clan, so she'd be less alone. Idk And this would result in her actually really relating to Lee, and being inspired by him to train hard so she too can kick people's teeth in.

It continues to kill me every day to think about the character that Rin could've been. She had so much to her. In being the normal one. In being the caring one. In being a Jinchūriki. In sacrificing herself. It should have been about her, and yet in the end she's just Obito's incel-y revenge manic pixie dream girl (extra trauma edition)

A popular detail in Naruto fanfics that I'd consider unspokenly Canon is that Naruto's education at the academy was sabotaged by every teacher except Iruka.

This was Itachi's vision when he was fighting his last battle with Sasuke. The fandom sees it as 'he was so strong he could've killed Sasuke any time', but what it truly represents is something different and not very complex.
He couldn't see Sasuke's face at all. He had pretended to be evil all his life and he was going to go ahead with this pretense until the very end. At its core, it's very sad. Itachi walked through hell and eternal darkness for Sasuke's sake. He knew he deserved the punishment, the hatred Sasuke harboured for him.
In his head, he most likely believed he deserved this. For all the pain he'd caused Sasuke, he believed he didn't deserve to see his little brother, didn't deserve to be close to him in his dying moments. He saw Sasuke as pure, unblemished person, broken but not by his (Sasuke's) fault.
For someone who never allowed himself to be forgiven, didn't allow himself to rest from his guilt, until Sasuke killed him, Itachi didn't even have the comfort of knowing how his little brother looked like in his last moments. He was always detached from the mortal world, counting his days, and when Sasuke confronts him, and he continues with his games, Itachi finds solace in Sasuke's voice, in the hatred Sasuke proclaims to harbour for him.
He's truly happy in death. As much as I love him and would want him to live for his and Sasuke's sake, Itachi's life was ruined since his childhood; he can't truly be happy alive. He deserves to rest now.

The Sakura/Hinata Hypocrisy
Tumblr media
So, this post was inspired by a brief conversation on discord. And before anyone tries to pull the anti card, no. Just because I love Sakura does not mean I hate Hinata. I like Hinata. I think she’s a sweet character who had a lot of potential. And I really with the SakuHina friendship was explored more, their very cute.
But anyway, onto the post!
So, I have honestly thought about making a post about this for a long time, but was nervous to. Cause well… look at the Sakura/Hinata stans. Those guys will go for the throat for their girls.
But can you all just acknowledge the hypocrisy in this fandom?
Sakura tries, she fails: “what a useless bitch!”
Hinata tries, she fails: “She did her best! What a queen!”
Are you guys hearing yourselves? Do you not hear the utter hypocrisy of what you just said?
And it can be the other way around, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that I’ve mostly seen it go down this way.
SP’s favouritism for Hinata really didn’t help either. I know a lot of Hinata fans call her fight with Pain her best moment, but canonly, this happened.
Tumblr media
Her fight was all but one page.
Just about one page less then when Sakura jumped in front of Sasuke to protect him from Gaara.
Tumblr media
(Can’t find the other part sorry)
But despite the fact that these two situations were basically similar, Sakura is hated on while Hinata is endlessly praised.
Can we all just accept the fact that these girls were done dirty by the story?
Sakura’s development wasn’t as drastic as Naruto and Sasuke’s, but it was there. But that all gets thrown away for her love interest.
Hinata’s development and arc in part 1 was very interesting and I was excited to see her grow. But again. That all got thrown away for her love interest.
Because apparently women can’t have any goals outside of men, and if they dare move on from a gut they liked, that makes them a “bad person.”
And whenever they do get big moments, it’s quickly thrown away, for what? The men. And you know what part gets me the most? If Sakura and Hinata were written as men, they’d be better developed, better written, and everyone would love them.
I love Naruto, but I unfortunately can’t read the story with rose tinted glasses like I did when I was younger. The women in this series deserved way better than what they got.
Anyone, Sakura and Hinata’s friendship is adorable. I wish people would stop putting them against each other. Look how cute they are!
Anyway, thats it. Thanks for putting up with another Ted talk of mine.
