I find it kinda funny and ironic whenever kakashi stans hate obito or don't like him because everything positive about kakashis personality or character comes from obito. All his likeable traits come from him mimicking Obito's from when they were kids to persevere his memory and whole ideology about putting comrades before the mission so honestly obito deserves far more credit for forcing kakashi to stop being such an uptight asshole

Naruto has a good heart
So many people misunderstand Naruto's character. Let's look at some of the absurd claims;
"Naruto only wanted his face on the mountain, he wants people to worship him, his goal is selfish"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Naruto made this goal for himself, he was younger than 12. As an orphan child who is ostracized from society, this was his way of trying to become liked, so he could become part of the society. Aside from hermits, most humans desire connections with other humans. It's normal. And Naruto being a child sees that the Hokage is someone who people approve, and becoming Hokage would be a sure way to have such connections. It makes sense for a child to rationalize it this way. People completely forget the context, many other characters also desired connections such as Haku, Kimimaro, Gaara etc. It's a common theme in the manga. Kishimoto wrote neglected children very believably. So to write this off as "Naruto just wants people to worship him like he's God, what a narcissist" is dishonest and poor reading comprehension.
Not to mention, Naruto's mentality changed pretty fast, and he wanted to become someone who saves and protects people, someone people could rely on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Already in the first arc he had that desire to help others. He's always been a good boy. Eventhough Naruto was pissed off at Inari's comments and wanted to tell him off, he realized there's a deeper reason for Inari's cynicism. So he decided to help him instead of starting a fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Part 2, Naruto's responsibilities grow massively, especially after the Pain arc. In the end, everyone ends up putting all the burdens on Naruto's shoulders. Everyone expects Naruto to protect them and basically do all the impossible things.
His goal to become a Hokage started out as a need for acknowledgement, yes. But his transformed drive to become Hokage and bear all the responsibility in Part 2 came from his need to fulfill everyone's expectations for him and also him thinking he owes to the people who support him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not that Naruto never had any resentment for how everyone treated him. He just repressed it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in the end, he put it all aside, in order to become the hero for everyone. No I don't think it's entirely healthy. But it's not selfish that's for sure.
"Naruto is shallow, selfish etc."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naruto was always grateful for the connections he was able to make and treasured them heavily. His relationship with Gaara gives even more insight to that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naruto acknowledges Gaara was alone for longer than him. How can you call him a narcissist? Naruto is shown to be upset at the fact Gaara was viewed as an undesirable and a tool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He always had genuine empathy and care for others. To claim otherwise is just bizarre. He blames himself too a lot of times. Then there's his relationship with Sasuke.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unlike certain Naruto stans who hate Sasuke, Naruto himself has enough empathy and humility to consider he could have ended up the same as Sasuke, if some things would have been slightly different.
A lot of people also complain about the way Naruto behaved in Vote1, eventhough that was Kishimoto's plan, Naruto was supposed to not understand Sasuke fully at that point (and still his behavior was understandable, considering Orochimaru is a predator who wanted to wear Sasuke's skin). Naruto himself acknowledges he didn't. Naruto always tried to use his own experiences to understand the world and others better.
"Naruto just projects onto people because he wants to talk about himself"
Actually no. Pain and Obito both projected onto him first, and told him they were similar, which is also why Obito wanted to convince Naruto to join him. Naruto responding to them and trying to show he understands them to a degree is not a crime. It's basic empathy. I don't think I will even bother explaining it further than this.
My point is, Naruto is a good boy/man. There's no need to twist him into a narcissistic sociopath just because you don't personally like him.

The conversation around Sasuke leaving Konoha needs to change. It's true that the in-story narrative by those who don't know Sasuke is that he is a traitor that betrayed Konoha. Unfortunately, too many in the fandom take this narrative at face value. But neither Naruto or Sakura endorse this view. Although they are confused by Sasuke's choice they both know Sasuke too well.
People talk about Sasuke choosing to leave Konoha...
But no one talks about how Itachi told Sasuke he'd come back to kill him someday. And Sasuke had very good reason to think that Itachi would target anyone Sasuke got close to.
Or how about how the curse seal would have killed Sasuke if it wasn't fully activated?
Or how Orochimaru made it clear he wasn't going to stop pursuing Sasuke? How long do you think it would have been till his patience ran out and he got tired of asking nicely?
Or how about the fact that he was found and targeted while he was in the village. The village couldn't protect him. Kakashi couldn't protect him. It's even the whole reason Naruto left to train, because the village wasn't safe enough. Naruto had people looking out for him. But Sasuke didn't. He is targeted multiple times and the village didn't take any action to protect him.
Yeah, Sasuke did make a choice. The right choice. He made the best choice he could make under the circumstances and no one-- not konoha, not Naruto, not Sakura--no one was hurt more by Sasuke's choice than it hurt Sasuke to make the choice to leave and live with one of his abusers. Yet he was the only person who offered to do anything to help him deal with his other abuser. It was horrible that Sasuke had to put himself through this second trauma... And yet the fandom has the audacity to make Sasuke's trauma about Naruto?? Or about Sakura?? Sometimes it really seems like no one in this fandom gives a crap about Sasuke unless it's to prop up their stupid ships. The fandom literally treats Sasuke like crap. Sasuke didn't leave because he wanted to. He wasn't being selfish or greedy. He just took stock of his situation and made the most viable choice he had. He wasn't happy that it was. He was willing to die for Naruto and Sakura. He valued them more than than his own life. Of course he wanted to stay. But he couldn't.
Ironically the fandom has compassion for Itachi for doing what he felt like he had to do, even though he actually killed people, and when he torments Sasuke, of course even then people actually focus on Itachi. But Sasuke did something that incidentally hurt Naruto and Sakura, do he's a selfish traitor. Sasuke didn't owe Naruto or Sakura. Yes, we see Naruto cared about Sasuke, but to Sasuke's face Naruto had treated him like he was a rival he wanted to overcome more than as a friend. And Sakura? He never started a relationship with Sakura. He may have felt guilty because he was abandoning his duty to Konoha.... the irony.
Sasuke lost everything once, and then he lost everything again when he was forced to leave it all behind. And it killed him. That Sasuke, the part one Sasuke who sometimes acted his age, he died. Sasuke killed him, so he could survive. It was yet another traumatic experience in his life.
That's the conversation we should be having about Sasuke leaving.

Ok y’all, stupid brain rot Hyperfixation time but we gotta talk about Orochimaru and Mitsuki Relationship.
The Boruto series could have easily gone the route of “I hate my creator, fuck my parent, I’ll never be like them.” Sort of route for Mitsuki. It would make sense, he’s a Leaf Village Shinobi and loyal to the leaf and Orochimaru doesn’t give a shit about the leaf.
But they didn’t…well not entirely.
Instead, they gave us a oddly wholesome relationship with Mitsuki and Orochimaru, where Orochimaru has been shown in the newest Novel and Newest game, to show care for Mitsuki (even concern in the book at the idea that Mitsuki could be in danger) and buying Mitsuki a video game console just because it “looked interesting” (Mitsuki had actually bought a copy already and ended up letting Sarada have it) and I’m honestly really pleased to see this sort of relationship explored, though its unlikey for now as they enjoy pushing Mitsuki aside.
MITSUKI has shown that he respects his parent greatly, even going as far as to use their likeness as a Avatar in a Video Game, because they look up to them and it “makes him happy” which I don’t know about you, but that’s super sweet. Orochimaru made Mitsuki to be different than them, Orochimaru could of easily made Mitsuki a Evil Clone to infiltrate the village and destroy it from the inside but with the one shot and other interactions we have seen, Orochimaru seems to genuinely want Mitsuki to live the life they couldn’t, and that includes having a active parent in his life because remember, Orochimarus parents died when they were very young.
Who knows, but I hope the Manga explores Orochimarus feelings about Mitsuki, and their relationship as a whole, cause it’s super interesting and sweet.
I also have some thoughts about whether or not Mitsuki is related to Toreni via DNA so…I’ll have to write that down sometime 👀

Naruto is my absolute babyboy, but my fuck, do I hate who he's become in Boruto, and I gotta hold him accountable.
(Like, the naruto antis are ppl I usually scoff at, but damn do they have points about this)
The reason most of us can't stand this show has nothing to do with something as silly as ships (or at least I hope not)(listen, actually, I could talk about how nh's and ss's relationships negatively affect Naruto and Sasuke, but ultimately, it's really not about that)
It's because it messes with both Naruto and Sasuke, their characters and their convictions. How the fuck did 17 year old Sasuke go from hating the system and all it upholds, from understanding that this shit isn't okay, to someone who is essentially a lapdog?? Um, no
And Naruto? Sweetheart, what happened to the promises to both your friends and enemies? Where did your desire to end the cycle of hatred go? Why are you okay with changing fundamentally nothing after promising that you'll turn everything around? Where did your numerous realizations about the faults of Konoha and the Shinobi world and the cycle of hatred go?
Like, I feel as though through the entirety of Naruto, we were constantly beaten over the head with the fact that nothing is okay about the current way of the world, and in the end, the goal was 'become Hokage to turn these things around' ?
And then Boruto comes, and holy shit, nothing has changed and Naruto has entirely forgotten everything his 17 year old's self had seen, promised and decided.
I feel like Boruto just entirely diminishes everything that happened in Shippuden, and that annoys me.
(All this said, I should clarify I have not watched Boruto nor do I intend to. These are just all things I've inferred through seeing clips here and there, and other people's takes on Boruto, so if I'm not getting something right, then oops) (the vast majority of the clips I've seen are sns moments, because somehow we're still getting fed even though they're both married and got kids 💀)
(Antis DNI pretty please)

amazed at how people still criticize kishimoto because the "hyüga clan's system doesn't make any sense" over the fact that ko hyüga is from the main family but not hizashi. the whole plot point of the hyüga's organization is that it doesn't make sense as it's a system based on oppression rather than the byakugan's protection, as that notion is a mere smoke screen with which it presents itself in order to seem necessary, which makes it paradoxical at its core. people in power decide who gets the seal and who doesn't based on what benefits them the most: hiashi never put hinata on a seal despite that being the practice before (at least, in hiashi and hizashi's case); therefore, he (or the former leader) likely benefited from having ko hyüga inside the main branch, so that's where he was allowed to exist.

Naruto shippuden things that made me lose my mind (ep 366-387):
Tobirama at every opportunity: the uchiha are cursed and evil and they deserve every slight I ever inflicted upon them (God he's such a bastard but I love him sm)
Tobirama @ sasuke: u r an evil uchiha demon and I will vanquish u *activates God powers* Hashirama: >:-( Tobirama: >:-( *deactivates God powers*
Madara: *laying prone* Tobirama, clutching his katana: and now we kill this little bitch. Hashirama: Tobirama no >:-(
Hashirama: well I guess I'll just have to kill myself. Tobirama: *look of mild disgust*
Ep 371: Hole. Ep 372: Something to fill the hole 👀
Everyone: hey orochimaru, why r u gonna help the good guys now? Orochimaru: 🤔well, when I was inside kabuto, I learned a very important lesson...
Madara: HASHIRAMA!!!!!!! hashirama: I'll deal with u later >:-(
Madara at every oppertunity: hashirama, come play with me 🤗
Sasuke: I will become Hokage (sasuke. Babe. You could potentially be a better Hokage than everyone except maybe naruto but u could not sleep bc literally everyone would be trying to assainate u at all times)
The visual of sasuke and naruto staring at eachother behind sakura's back...
Obito why did u make lil rin say "I love u kakashi"? That was weird
Ok, obito flopping out of his lil dimension after getting obliterated by kakashi is so fucking funny
Madara @ obito: time to pay ur dues, bitch *impaled him with a dozen rods*
Tsunade hearing hashirama's voice: Grandpa???!!!
Bold move of naruto to blast his sasuke feelings directly into the brains of every shinobi in the whole shinobi world
So... chakra is canonically a curse upon humanity...
Why does everyone in konoha hate orphans? Like literally everyone is an orphan. This is orphan on orphan violence
Shout out to kishimoto for the creation of Rin, a character so underwritten she doesnt even feel like a person despite being pivotal to the plot
God dammit kakashi, u think the answer to everything is murder or suicide. Get help.
And here we have Kakashi delivering a monolog from Obito's lap...

The Hidden Horrors of the Otsutsuki Clan
The Otsutsukis are...in many ways, a bit of a mess. Regardless of how you feel about them, I doubt anybody's going to argue that bringing aliens into the Naruto franchise was a stretch. Especially in a series that's focused on shinobi and the like. Doesn't help that when you have a whole Clan on the same level as Kaguya, it also breaks the power scaling even further than it already is.
With that being said...I do think there's some untapped potential.
Specifically...the realization to the Shinobi World that there's a whole race of godlike beings that could almost essentially turn their civilization to ash. That all their training, their power, and their readiness can never measure up to entities that have been alive for a lot longer, and presumably are a lot more experienced as well as being almost all powerful.
How...small they would feel. The existential dread that their history and wars mean nothing in the grand scheme of things if those like the Otsutsuki exist.
If you go with that angle, you could potentially tap into some potentially interesting storytelling opportunities. Like, how do you react knowing that there's a race of hostile "gods" out there? Would you fall into nihilism, figuring it's just a matter of time before they show up and wipe everyone out? Would the Great Villages come together to form an even stronger and pool their resources in order to find some way to stop a seemingly unassailable threat? If so, what exactly can they do against the Otsutsuki? Will some try to ally with them like in canon in some hope that they'll be spared?
While some of these ideas have been explored in-canon with the Kara, I think it would be neat to explore how shinobi society as a whole would react to a new dangerous threat like this. Especially if the Otsutsuki invade in force and they can't readily rely on single individuals like Naruto or Sasuke to do all the heavy lifting.

God. The thing abt the uchiha is that. Yes. It was fucked up that no one trusted them and they got pushed further and further from the village center. However. They were also a clan of ninja cops with fucked up magical eyes that they supercharge by getting horrifically traumatized. So like. I also would not fucking trust them.

I think above all the worst misconception about a naruto character has to be a 31 year old obito still being in love with 14 year old rin. Not only does this go against obito's whole character past the third shinobi war but it's plainly disgusting that people think this about a middle aged man. I'm telling you now that rin was not the sole reason for Obito's hatred for the shinobi world she was just the catalyst for him agreeing to madara's plan, resulting in everything that happened.
It's just annoying to see this misconception even when within the manga itself obito has stated he isnt in love with rin anymore in his adulthood as he refers to his love of her in the past tense. It's just painful to see people forget that rin was his best friend, not just his crush. She was the first person in his life to introduce him to friendship and to truly believe in his abilities and dreams. They were eachothers closest friend within life, even if rin didn't reciprocate obito's feelings she still loved him and cherished him.
I see comments about obito being the ultimate simp or some shit like that and its infuriating to see this shit about such a complex character like obito, he's only wittled down to some guy in love who apparently caused a war only for her or kakashi's friend.

People hate Sasuke for not being the rival character they expect. Even from the start Naruto is jealous of Sasuke. Naruto is chasing Sasuke (metaphorically). And even from the start Sasuke really is better than Naruto in all areas, including morally. In other shonen it's always the opposite. Bakugo is jealous of Deku. Bakugo is chasing Deku. Deku is pure and kind; Bakugo is mean and off putting. But in Naruto, it at first appear as if they are reenacting the old song and dance. Why shouldn't we believe What Naruto tells us about Sasuke? Because the narrative keeps hinting it's not true. That actually Naruto is jealous and inferior and defensive and mean and initiating fights. And Sasuke does respond... but when it counts, he is actually always acting to protect and defend Naruto. And people hate Sasuke for it. Sasuke was actually the one who better fit the hero archetype than Naruto at the start. So when Sasuke falls from grace... (When he starts acting more like Naruto) The fandom breathed a collective sigh of relief because they thought the proper balance was finally being restored. Of course Sasuke would act like that. He was created to be the rival after all. He is made that way. They knew it all along. Internally, they felt gratified. All is right with the world. The story makes sense once again. Except the story keeps on making odd choices. Choices that are frustrating. That don't fit the meta paradigm they've already subconsciously applied to the story. Underlying assumptions most people aren't even aware of. Like a key that sort of fits, but doesn't open the door. People throughout the fandom use different keys to try to make sense of the story. And they sort of fit... But they can't unlock the door. They can't quite make sense of the story. Must be bad writing they conclude. Only the story is still so powerful and resonates with so many.
