had a really funny idea for an ask blog ft. Vanny and another plex employee oc,,

#Get this right. 2 pizzaplex employees accidentally get tumblr famous bc someone has been leaving weird graffiti everywhere and #Getting up to other shenanigans and sends asks abt it to this one like urban exploration blog. Who later gets an ask basically like #Hey I work at the plex?? This is some insider info only another employee would know????#The two anons are constantly back and forth in this persons inbox and are eventually assigned nicknames #‘Pix’ for the mystery vandalism employee because she shows up as nothing but weird pixels and glitches on cameras #The other employee is ‘Cam’ because they have been monitoring all this on the cameras #One day they get each others blogs and keep sending each other death threats and shit jokingly but one day pix warns cam not to go to a #Weird late staff meeting #The next night it is literally just the two of them and they think this is so funny they start a blog trying to uncover why everyone else #Just isn’t coming in. At first they are like well layoffs duhhhh #But then ppl send asks and messages like ‘hey have u seen this employee it’s my brother/friend/etc’ and they realize shit is actually going #On in here #One night cam is live-blogging their shift and sees a weird intruder in a costume with a knife and runs around eventually escaping and find #Pix lying at the bottom of a stairwell unconscious with a bloody nose later #Takes pix to the hospital. Only to be alone in the plex the next night and suddenly get a phone call saying that pix left the hospital. Bc #Pix left cam as the emergency contact because ‘she didn’t have anyone else’.#Cam has to survive the masked intruder #eventually starts recording everything but when the intruder gets closer the footage gets glitchier #Eventually there’s just one fuzzy image of the intruder with Roxy and Monty standing on either side and that’s the last we hear of cam. Nex #Post is pix saying hehe thanks for following our little story aha !! Bye now it’s over!! And that’s it…..heheheheh #Killer rab blog has become a little boring for me so… might start this soon….#I’d have to make like 2 blogs plus some fake dms too probably . Damn

A silly thought I had while doing wordle earlier: Does scrabble or some alternative word game exist in the pokemon world?? If so I’d imagine Twig would always be accused by her friends of “making up” words whenever she tries to use words from English that don’t exist in pokespeak.

There’s 100% word games like Scrabble in the pokemon world! One in particular that’s especially popular is called Shoreline, which is a reference to modernized footprint runes being the script used for pokespeak and trails of footprints being made in the sand on beaches. Kip is an exceptionally skilled player of this game. Twig will always sits rounds out though, because she has horrible spelling know-how and always loses as a result.

At times she’s accidentally tried to use English words that she spelled out in footprint runes during games, and everyone was super confused except for Grovyle, who added an “S” onto her “SOUP” without batting an eye.

#Twig would sometimes write English words in the dirt as a human in the Dark Future #and Grovyle asked her to teach him how to write the alphabet and sound out English words during the quiet moments they had #He’s not any better at his spelling in English than Twig is in Pokespeak #but he was able to recognize the word ‘soup’ because Twig LOVED the way that word looked for some reason as a kid #and she was constantly writing it in patches of dirt #the Sableye saw it around so much while they were tracking Grovyle + the gang to the point they thought it was a new form of graffiti #akin to the Universal S from the 90s #sofie answers asks #the present is a gift au #pokémon mystery dungeon #pokemon mystery dungeon #pmd explorers #pmd sky #pmd eos #pmd2 #pmd

1) We still don’t really know who this mysterious figure is, but my best guess is some sort of guardian over this buffer/void realm between Earth and the Demon realm. He’ll probably be very important or have some sort of key to Luz and them winning in the last special. :/ I wonder is him walking on the human side of this realm has any bearing too. Zooming in he has claws like King so him being some sort of Titan banished there wouldn’t be too far out there either. :/

2) I appreciate someone actually just put “Bad Word” and “Kiss my Grass” on the Owl House. The last one must have preferred plant magic. ;) XD

Oh yeah bridge graffiti update, main place got wiped down completely, possibly officials lol so I put up a new Kawaii cyclops and demon hand... then my spot that usually no one goes to got completely done-over.... mixed feelings cause the art is damn good.. I just... really man? It perfectly covers just the area where all my stuff was drawn. Actually met the dude who did it weirdly enough, he rolled up on his bike and was like "like it? I got bored and did it" I said it was badass, deciding to drop the fact that it was over my shit.. he probably pieced together that I was the other motherfucker anyway, no one comes to that section of the bridge and I mean no one.. lol ffs I jerked it and came a couple times there, that's how private it is.. or was I guess now... huaaahh oh well.. good art at least (writing is bad Português por "Hey, it's tired/ I meant to say tiring. I'm tired" in the hand is bad Italian for "fuck off o/ go fuck yourself")

Translated the alphabet used in STRAY

NOTE: Mild Spoilers for STRAY. This album contains the chapter headings, so while it's not super-spoilery, it's still going to reveal some details if you haven't played it to that point yet!

My kid and I have been enjoying Stray thoroughly since it came out, and one of the things we both found fascinating is the language of the society in the game- you see it everywhere, in neon signs, in graffiti, and it really adds to the depth and mystery of this universe.

Both my kid and I are language geeks, me being a narrator and them just enjoying languages in general, so after I casually mentioned that I thought the in-game alphabet for the robots was probably an Aurabesh (Star Wars)-like letter-for-letter replacement of a Latin alphabet, we went to town on trying to figure it out. They mentioned they realized it was a replacement cipher when they saw the opening screen for the "Dead City" chapter.

Turns out that we were... mostly right. But not 100%. There IS an alphabet that's consistent. It's in the first image you see in this album. However, while we did find a lot of signs that were simply English, there were some that were Latin, and we think there might be a few in French (which would make sense, given that the developers are French).

But it gets a bit weirder. There's a bunch of symbols we simply don't understand because we don't have a good key for them. We started off with this one by taking screenshots of the chapter headings, which were subtitled in English, using those to get a few characters, then figuring out other characters from context. We've got nearly the entire alphabet solved now, but there's some signs with words using characters that don't have any correspondence at all to the ones we've deciphered.

However, nearly all of these are in the "dead" parts of the city, where there's signs in English, which could mean these are in Chinese or some language we don't understand, or maybe they're intended to be an earlier version of the language the robots in the city now use.

There's also some "cursive"-like versions of many letters which are more difficult to understand, so some of the signs are much harder to translate. There's even some where they mash ideograms together to combine them, which is also interesting.

So here's the alphabet key, along with a few images we've provided some captions for. Our working theory is that many of the posters are written in Latin (including some Lorem Ipsum!), then translated to the robot alphabet, but it's possible they're in other languages also. Because many of the textures have "damage" on them, it's frequently difficult to parse all the words, and it's also often hard to tell where spaces go.

But we figure if we put this out there, others can come along and improve on and add to it!

NB: The alphabet key is not totally complete; the letters X and Z are missing, as we still aren't certain of those ones. (Updated: Z and X are found, and image key updated!) Also, there's some variations on some letters, and it's possible we made some mistakes. But it works for translating many of the signs and posters. For the translations we used Google Translate, which is probably awful, but better than nothing.

NB Also: The chapter headings sometimes differed from the subtitle in yellow. Where it does, the deciphered text is in white. Where it does not, there's no white text.

If anyone can offer more accurate translations of the Latin passages, please do!
