(this is a ramble and isn't complimentary, so if you're in this tag purely for positive stuff, please swerve around this post; you have been warned, so pls don't add negativity to this post either, thanks)
Just finished hmc (book) and i have so many conflicting thoughts about it. Like it was obviously very well written in terms of the worldbuilding and the characters and the plot but then with the romance it felt,,, so odd to me.
Maybe it's the fact that it's decades old, but it has that feeling of vagueness that classics and stuff often do, where I don't feel at all invested because it all feels surface level. Like Sophie and Howl clearly have a connection, but I felt like it was never explored in a way that tugged at my heart strings, it was more like they had the grounds for friendship and then bippity boppity they held hands and were getting married.
Which gets me to another thing- this felt very much like someone had taken a very interesting queer character and put them in a very heteronormative romance plot??? Like howl has such major queer vibes, but then he interacts with sophie and vice versa like they're the protags of every heteronormative straight romance book (if there weren't even making out to keep your attention on SOMETHING), and it just feels like they were done dirty even tho they are as the author intended them to be and saw them as.
Idk just... They're such interesting characters and I would have loved to see their love story if it weren't trapped in a heteronormative cage.
The rest of the story is just so incredibly fun and engaging that whenever this stuff popped up and they were forced to play into these roles it felt jarring and left me at the end wondering if I'd just ruined the experience I knew from the ghibli movie and wasted hours just to end up feeling neutral about the story.

Morning Routine
Tumblr media
howl pendragon x reader | 1,534 words
Tumblr media
synopsis; it could never just be a peaceful morning in the castle. not while howl was around, not as long as he had time to disturb your bath.
notes; book!howl-coded bc he's a massive fucking brat here, slice of life moment, implied established relationship, roughly proofread, written 2021.
Tumblr media
The cataclysm that was your life often began just as dawn broke across the sky, all with its hues of pink and orange spearing through the shroud of night. You knew it not by the caress of light seeping through the slithers of space between your curtains, nor by crowing roosters in their tragically optimistic song. In fact, by comparison to what you typically endured, a rooster would by far be your preference.
At that point, you had become attuned to stirring right around that time as it was; the fog of sleep still sat in your mind like an anvil, inciting your head back to your pillow for just a bit longer. You always resisted because it would never amount to anything anyway.
So there you sat, legs hanging like lead over the edge, shoulders and back rolled forward in such a way you felt the pull of gravity teetering you towards the floor.
You eyes were the last thing to adjust, keeping them closed for the most part until you found the bravery in you to put forth your feet and stand.
Most days, however, you waited for the castle to erupt.
And that it did.
Although notoriously not an early-riser, Howl had quite gotten into the habit recently for reasons you didn’t bother to explore, aside from petty teatimes with Sophie. His gait was unmistakable as he pounced down the stairs, attempting all the lightness of an antelope in his movements, but only ended up like a clumsy giraffe stumbling down them.
You thought you caught a waft of his new cologne or another from the gap beneath your door.
From there, you listened with an increasingly steady heart, anticipating the next things to come.
Below your feet you heard a mishmash of voices, all their owners very distinct, though their words were dulled by the splintery floorboards supporting your feet, and probably the fact your ears were still deafened to most sounds right now.
Sophie was likely asking what everyone wanted for breakfast, encouraging Michael to fetch you out of bed, to jab you a couple times in the ribs with a broom handle if you were being particularly fussy. He gave some affirmative, you were sure, listening to the lethargic groan of staircase.
Next came Howl’s voice, damn bold, bright, and too fucking chipper for this early in the morning. He was speaking with rapid succession, you could only assume it was a complaint about burnt bacon, or insisting he cook up his own eggs. It wasn’t unfathomable the dolt made mention of some travesty Sophie committed yesterday as well.
“Why you—first thing in the morning! This is what you let fly out of your flap?! I should’ve known you’re no good. Eat your bacon! Shush!” Sophie’s screech was clear and loud, jolting you upright from the remnants of your sleep. “The eggs are fine, you buffoon. There’s nothing—no, there’s nothing wrong with them!”
“I shouldn’t have to make breakfast every morning!” Howl rejoined, being the only thing you could discern through the floorboards before an awful, cacophonous contest of bellows erupted from downstairs.
You rose to your feet then, swaying back on your heels for just a second as you propelled yourself towards the door, throwing it open against the wall just as Michael’s knuckles had come forward on it to knock.
“Oh, mornin’, figured you were awake.” Michael said, rubbing away the sleep in his eyes. “I think Calcifer overcooked the bacon, but you know Howl.”
“Mmmya,” came the grunt from your throat as you sidled past him in the doorway, onward towards the bathroom, missing the kid’s utterly apathetic, distant stare after you.
Even with the thick door shut and the ferocious hiss of water gushing into the bathtub, you still heard traces of their argument downstairs. You tried to pay little heed to it as you sat along the rim of the rub, a foot hiked across your knee as your fingertips glided in a dance across the rippling surface, testing the temperature by plunging your hand to the wrist, smacking your palm on the bottom of the tub.
At this stage in the morning, you didn’t have the capacity to understand and express emotion let alone meditate whatever their spit was today.
As the mirrors dotted throughout the bathroom began to fog, steam swirling around you in white puffs that touched your skin the same as a warm breath; familiar yet always new enough, you shucked off your night clothes and stepped in carefully. You had ran the temperature too high, but your shared frugal nature with Sophie made it but impossible to drain the tub—or worse, use even more water.
The heat nipped at your toes, searing the pads of your feet as you bounced from one to the other. It crept higher to your shins, to your thighs and groin, hips, waist, and finally the rest of you as you slowly submerged your body beneath the fragrant waters. The eucalyptus and lemongrass floated inside your nostrils as you breathed; both a classic, yet harmonious meld that brimmed your lungs and parted from your lips.
“Ah! I knew it! You were the one who stitched a patch into my suit! Michael, look at this hideousness! I can’t wear this!” Howl lamented, his sheer agony managed to seep through the crevices in the floorboards into the bathroom.
You weren’t sure how.
There was a pause, presumably of reluctance before Michael offered his thoughts. “Why not? It looks fine to me.”
“Michael!” Howl exclaimed, his voice jumping a to a higher pitch, clearly affronted. “My own apprentice says such things. Where did I fail? Was it when, out of the kindness of my soul—my very being, Michael, when I let Sophie start sleeping on the cot?”
“Can’t you pipe down?” said Sophie in exasperation. “Some people are trying to enjoy their morning. Now, stop being a baby and go put your suit away.”
Of course, the fighting did not end, and you resigned to drowning out their voices to incoherent shouts for the sake of enjoying your bath. Even still, your eyes floated about the bathroom lazily; noting the many absolute useless trinkets that decorated the walls, to the bottles of dyes and cosmetics rammed haphazardly atop the sink, stacked thoughtlessly.
It was much the same on the adjacent rim of the bathtub touching the wall, Howl’s collection of mysterious dyes, shampoos, scrubs, and washes were all in unmarked glass bottles.
You thought some even glowed.
You could barely bring yourself to look above the containers at the white walls stained like an artist’s palette after a time of mixing, dabbing, adding, and stippling. It was mostly curiosity that led you to reaching a hand above water, attempting to dig a nail under a splotch of vibrant red, grimacing once you realized it was not coming up.
“God, he just needs to suck it up and take some bleach from his sister.” You groused, scraping dutifully at the stain with some hope any amount of red would chip away.
You had anticipated for the fighting downstairs to eventually migrate to the top floor. It was less an attempt of escape on Howl’s part and more of his desire to complain to you until the evening at this new wickedness of Sophie’s.
Predictably, feet pounded up the staircase, rattling the oddities on the walls and jingling others as the hallway exploded with all the ferocity of a thundering stampede. You heard first the noise stop at your bedroom door, Howl’s voice echoing your name urgently before tromping onward.
The eucalyptus was getting deep into your muscles at that point, you didn’t even consider the fact that the tips of Howl’s boot-clad toes peeked beneath the bathroom door.
For some reason, you expected a smidge of courtesy and rapping knuckles against the wood door, not it swinging open hard enough to strike the wall behind it and bounce off it.
Howl surged forward into the bathroom, swiping the steamy air with his suit as he thrust it out at arm’s length. “Look! Look at what what that sad old woman did! Can you see it? This patch is hideous, and right in the elbow! I’m beside myself, you need to stop her—”
“What in the living hell, Howl!” You shouted, unsure of what parts of you were appropriate to cover, so you simply ripped the shower curtain over until all except your head was hidden. “I don’t care! Get out!”
Howl let out a horrified gasp, clutching the suit jacket closer to his chest. “You don’t care? What world am I living in that my sweetest, my beloved does not share in my pain? We swore ourselves to share agony and hardships and—”
“Oh my god, Howell! I’m trying to take a bath! Scram!” The first bottle flung was in plastic, an orange dye to be precise. Your hands felt along the cluttered wall for anything else light. “Git! Git! Git!”
Howl ducked around your onslaught, nearing closer to the door as he went. “That awful woman! Look at how she’s rubbed off on you! I won’t forgive her.”
“Holy hell, Howell! Go!"

Dating Hort of Bloodbrook
summary : general headcanons of dating Hort while being the princess of Camelot.
word count : 0.7k
type : headcanons
pairing/s involved : Hort x Reader, Sibling! Tedros x Reader
warning/s : discrimination against Nevers and Evers.
here is my masterlist!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note : I know this is late but this has been on my unfinished works since the movie came out. I fell in love with Hort, he is so cute and loyal to Sophie 🥹. I haven't read the books but I might soon when I need to escape reality again.
You will likely be a year younger than Tedros.
Because of the heir and the spare™.
I know it sounds bad but some rulers actually do those.
Tedros is extremely overprotective over you, especially when Queen Guinevere ran away with Lancelot and King Arthur died.
He's like the typical older brother you see in movies; handsome, buff, (kind off) a meathead, and annoys you to know end.
Will also be the first one to come to your defense.
When you got to the School of Good, you were determined to destroy the image of being Tedros' little sister.
Which results to you preferring to be a hero in your own story than being a queen in someone else's.
As expected, you quickly became friends with Agatha.
Not afraid to stand up to those who think girls are inferior to boys.
While the other Evers found the Nevers horrible for being future villains, you have a neutral perspective towards them.
After all, the School of Good has many stuck up and vain students.
Meeting Hort was definitely a memory to remember. It was when Professor Dovey took the first years to the Wish Fish (Let's pretend Agatha didn't free them).
When you put your hand on the water and begin to think of a wish, you didn't feel the water swirling like Agatha told you she experienced,
Instead, it was hand that intertwines its finger with yours.
And it harshly pulled you down the water.
The girls' screams and the professor calling out your name in panic caught the boys and Tedros' attention, running to the 'rescue'.
Under the water, you see someone smiling at you, or at least that's what you hopes he's doing.
A Never named Hort, son of Captain Hook.
Tedros immediately pulled you out of the water, with Hort in tow.
The angry professor commands the nearby guards to bring him back to the School of Evil and how Lady Lesso will surely punish him.
"It seems like I'm your wish, my lady."
He expects you to be disgusted like the other Evers. To his surprise, you give him the sweetest smile he has ever seen in his life.
"That you are, Hort of Bloodbrook."
To say Hort is surprised was an understatement.
You didn't only smile at him but also knew his name.
Cupid's arrow struck him at that moment. His villainous smirk drops, staring at you with wide eyes as much as he could before they were out of sight.
Tedros, who saw the whole thing, was not pleased and gave you a warning on how Nevers can't be trusted.
After your encounter, Hort seeks you out more.
You didn't mind, he is an odd yet funny companion.
He also doesn't care for one's physical appearance like the girls do or how you're nothing but a pretty face with a royal title like most guys think.
He encourages you to be yourself, like Agatha does.
You two would get judgmental looks from both sides.
Sophie was pissed, not only because Hort was losing interest in her but being the princess of Camelot is everything she wants to be.
So is Tedros. And everyone else who sees you together.
Agatha is just worried and would remind you to keep your guard up.
But you enjoy each other's company, that's what matters.
Hort was in love with you the moment you met but it took you a longer time to realize your feelings for him.
You only told Agatha about it but Tedros overheard.
Believe me when I say that Tedros will demand you to be examined.
"She's not under any spells, my prince."
"Are you certain?"
"Oh my God, I love Hort and there's nothing you can do about it!"
Everyone in the hall heard you.
Silence before a giddy howl ensues.
Hort runs to you and gives the biggest hug you could ever receive.
Despite being initially embarrassed, you returned it.
Before he could kiss you like he always dreamed of, Tedros stops him.
He pulls out Excalibur and points its tip on Hort's neck. Your brother will mercilessly give the poor boy threats if he broke your heart or hurt you in any way. Agatha joined in without words, just sending a warning glare on his way.
Hort would be lowkey terrified but so happy at the same time.
I mean you love him back. He could take a fucking army if you command him to.
Lady Lesso and Professor Dovey would only look at each other in disbelief, worried for what happens next.

An accurate list of the best movies I've ever seen
This list also includes reasons that are all too objective and nonsensical. Avoid asking too many questions. And share what you think in the comments!
Tumblr media
Hercules
Hercules is probably my favourite Disney movie. And I also think that's where my interest in Greek mythology started. Hades is my favorite villain from this company and he's such a mood.
Tumblr media
The Prince of Egypt
Oh dear you don't know how much I love this movie. I know every song by heart and was lucky enough to sing them with my choir. I'm a big fan of animation and despite how old is this movie, I think it remains one of the best ever produced. I cried more times over this movie than over all the others on this list combined.
Tumblr media
Friends & Family
I only discovered this film this year but it quickly became one of my favorites. I have never laughed for so many consecutive minutes at a movie. I approached it because it's unusual to see a gay mob-themed movie, but I immediately fell in love with all the characters and the final scene remains one of the most comic I have ever seen.
Tumblr media
Treasure Planet
I have a soft spot for animated films about great adventures and self-discovery. Jim has been my only animated crush for years, and his story has always resonated with something inside of me (maybe the desire for adventure and his recklessness, idk). Plus, of course, "'I'm Still Here" is one of the most beautiful soundtracks ever created.
Tumblr media
Howl's Moving Castle
One of the first films I saw by Studio Ghibli and my absolute favourite. The love stories created by this Studio are always wonderful, and this one is no different. Plus I always saw myself in Sophie (especially about the crush on Howl) and, well, there's Calcifer, what more do you want?
Tumblr media
Les Choristes
Another thing I love: movies about music. It may be that I've been playing an instrument for years and singing in choirs, but I've always cried watching kids rediscover a new side of themselves through music and songs. And these songs are composition's masterpieces. I still remember them all by heart even though French isn't my native language.
Tumblr media
A Christmas Carol
I'm slightly obsessed with this story, with Charles Dickens and with Christmas. I was born on Christmas Eve so you can imagine how close this theme is to my heart. I have seen several versions of this story though, and for some reason, this one remains my favourite. It may be that it's different from other more colourful versions and really shows the darkness behind the original story, idk.
Tumblr media
How to Train Your Dragon
I literally grew up with this saga: I was 8 years old at the first film, 12 at the second and 17 at the third. I watched Hiccup grow up with me as a friend and Toothless as a fellow adventurer. I'll forever be grateful to Dreamworks for creating the best-animated saga that cinema has ever seen.
Tumblr media
The Three Musketeers
This movie is so random that it's perfect. I watched it again recently (after like 8 years) and realized that maybe my daddy issues come from this movie: Luke Evans, Orlando Bloom and the freaking Mads Mikkelsen together, seriously? I'm not surprised it was one of my favourite movies growing up.
Tumblr media
A Monster in Paris
The love I have for this film is enormous. I could never get over the beauty of the songs in it. The characters are so well written and Francœur will always be in my top animated characters. It's too amazing to be real.
Tumblr media
Rise of the Guardians
I could talk for hours about this film and have not even touched the tip of the iceberg. I have an insane obsession with all the characters, starting with and especially Jack, my top animated crush for years. It's all so perfect that I don't see how people never nominate it when it comes to top animated movies.
Tumblr media
The Hobbit
Again, I have serious problems with films about fantasy adventures. I have always preferred The Hobbit saga to its sequel because the story has always fascinated me more. And the main character especially: for me Bilbo >>>> Frodo. And then there's Thorin and Luke Evans. You know, daddy issues.
Tumblr media
Mune: Guardian of the Moon
Another French animated movie, another obsession, another adventure, another animated character in my top. This is an example of how to do good animation. There isn't a colour out of place. The settings are authentic, the characters are original, and the adventure they make gets me every time.
Tumblr media
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
I'm maybe a Muggle, but I prefer Fantastic Beasts to the Harry Potter saga. That's not to say it's better, mind you, but it reflects me more. We all know how we Hufflepuffs (and Ravenclaws) have no real representation in the HP movies, so to be able to have at least one prequel saga starring a Hufflepuff (in which I also find myself far too much) as the protagonist is wonderful. And I have an unhealthy urge to become a magizoologist.
Tumblr media
The Greatest Showman
It's the movie I have watched the most of these. I know every song by heart and every line too. It always manages to be a roller coaster of emotions. And it has Hugh Jackman in it.
Tumblr media
The Boy Foretold By The Stars
I'm a big supporter of the Philippine's film company. This is one movie is gentle, funny, and not based on the usual drama between Christianity and LGBT+ people (which is what I thought when reading the plot at first). Moreover, another underrated thing, the Philippines' music company here has thrown in masterpiece after masterpiece of songs, perfect for this movie.
Tumblr media
Bros
This is my top comfort film in the last year. It's like watching a Hallmark movie but hotter, much more sincere and gay. Very gay. And the relationship between the two main characters is so cute and sweet. And funny.
Tumblr media
Top Gun: Maverick
I love this saga but especially love this particular chapter. I love Maverick and his relationship with Rooster, and all the other characters are so well-written. And don't get me started on the story... I LOVE it. There isn't much else to say except that Cruise is a great actor (and a terrible person).
Tumblr media
Glass Onion - Knives Out
I love my silly little gay detective. And I have a little passion for movies and mystery series. I found this saga's chapter more compelling than the first one, and the characters gripped me more. Also I fell in love with the setting. Oh and then there are Daniel Craig and Hugh Grant.

since someone posted a translation on yt i wanted to ask(when you get around to it/free time ofc ofc) what you thought about artem’s dragon breath ssr
my first immediate fucking thought reading this card: WE GET NEIL ANGST FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS?
IN AN AU CARD? WHAT?
okay. alright. that aside, i tend to actually really like au cards in tot, so i was actually pretty hyped about this one (HI FUTURE ME HERE WTF THAT WAS SO GOOD????) thoughts below!
love artem just fucking eating shit with this crest. bro is not fooling anyone
artem: [literally fucking coughing his lungs out] I am In complete Control. Of My Well Being. [coughs up blood

or possessed loved one. in this case.
me and my possessed dragon bf <3
this is literally the most unnerved ive been reading a tot story ever. and its solely from how uncanny this expression is. dont make this face. what the fuck. i know ur possessed but no thats just wrong you cant do that what the fuck dont make that face
Tumblr media
PUT THE CREEPY PLEADING EYES AWAY IT'S UNCANNY ON YOU
you can tell zhao lu is having a fucking blast voicing this part and i am so here for it. like "here artem is being possessed. get a little freaky with it okay. throw in some ominous whispering and laughing while you're at it"
AND HERE COMES ARTEM WITH THE STEEL CHAIR TO FIGHT OFF THE POSSESSION. MY OTHER FAVORITE TROPE!! zhao lu will see a guy fight off his possession and be like is anyone gonna voice him and then not wait for an ans- oh my god did artem just yell. hoooly fuck this guy never yells.
neil and artem fighting to the death in dragon form was not on my tot bingo card but i cannot complain at all
BABE WAKE UP NEIL IS SPEAKING
why is this card story giving more than any of the main timeline stories involving neil ever have. love the theme of the gods preying on the idealistic (neil, artem, mc) in accepting this cursed crest.
"our fates had been intertwined ever since" dear god it feels like they got a year 1 artem writer on this HAHA
on god they're beatin the shit out of artem in this card

when i watched howls moving castle it only made me realize just how stevaide coded this entire thing is, i mean i know steven's not entirely the most dramatic man like howl when his hair got dyed lmao but he's the type of guy to be assertive and hard headed to do what he wants (and for steven it's the passion that fuels him to be hard headed)
but the real comparison worth mentioning is sophie and jaide. throughout the story sophie constantly reminds everyone she's a nobody, or someone not really of value (she reiterates this when she tells her sister there's no way The Wizard Howl would ever whisk her away) similar to jaide who never really see herself to be of worth, it's not because she's insecure, but it's because she's always selfless, finds herself to care for others than she does to herself) so at the part where howl would tell sophie that she's beautiful, its like steven telling jaide that she has so much worth than she think she has, except she doesn't think too highly of herself just because she's simply humble. steven wants her to know how much value she means to him and not even his diamonds can equate to it
jaide would be in denial to learn that she has fallen for steven similarly to how sophie while pretending to be howl's mom - defends him against suliman and suliman makes this assertion that oh, hang on you love him don't you. and then sophie recoils ... (reminder that her face reverts to her younger self as she defends howl, only for it to go back to her wrinkly face when she recoils)
and im so glad many has caught on with the whole "find me in the future" and "i finally found you" matching line because that's quite literally why it's called memoryshipping, he remembers her, and he's going to find her again. 💜💚

Hey wanted to tell you I love seeing Rana on my dash! Can you tell little bit more about Rana? How does she view her relationship with her teammates? Does she have any family? What drew her towards Wyll?
oh stop this is so sweet omg 😭😭😭 Im glad you all like to see her bcus i love to show her off!! she's my little angel and the only tav i've had break past act 1!
I'll put most of this under the cut but I wanna put out a disclaimer that I came up with her background before learning abt anyone elses backstories so if she seems very similar to an origin character i swear its on accident 😭😭!!!!!!
Rana is a tiefling rogue assassin :)! Her backstory is that of a street urchin and after her mother died when she was very young, she spent a lot of time outside of her home. Her father wasn't very good at fathering and oftentimes they didn't even speak with one another despite living together in the same home. At the age of 12, she ends up stealing a little more than something that can be unnoticed and gets arrested. Upon her father hearing out her year-long sentence and hefty bail, he decides it's better to let her rot in prison for her sentence than to spend his little money on bailing her out.
Of course, Rana breaks herself out after 3 weeks and never returns to Baldur's Gate until the fateful day of the Nautiloid! She spends a lot of her time traveling the coast, running through different guilds and vowing to never rely on anyone.
With her backstory out of the way, she has a very interesting relationship with everyone! 😭 So for those who don't know, I played this story with my darling dearest bestie @katagawajr who has her own character Vaeril. To put her in Jordan's words, Vaeril's very much a disney princess-esque, think Anna from Frozen or Rapunzel, or if you're familiar with Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle!! (where as you have Rana who despite being fire coded is very much Elsa-like)
Tumblr media
(and sometimes she teams up in a detective noir episode alongside Private Wyll Ravengard to uncover the mysterious explosive toys of Baldur's Gate.... but thats a side quest) (yes it's chaos).
Moving onto Origins, She's got a very funny raport with Gale. He's an obvious know-it-all but unlike most egotistical men Rana's run into, he has the facts to prove it. For my Blands mutuals, she's got a very Fiona and Rhys type of dynamic where they do get along but you wouldn't believe it from the amount they bicker. Vaeril also romanced Gale in this playthru so she's very much >:( hurt my best friend and ill kill you wizard boy.
Karlach is Rana's best friend. They have very similar backstories and although they didn't know one another as kids, they're very protective of one another. Lae'zel is also one of Rana's closest friends even though she's obviously more reserved, they get along very well on the battlefield and rely on one another. Halsin makes Rana nervous because he's just So Sweet and Asty is pretty much entertaining (they argue abt the best techniques to take people down quietly ofc). Shadowheart and her also get along albeit it's a bit more reserved because of Rana's intrinsic and initial mistrust of familal figures.
haha. onto Wyll. Which is probably the funniest of funniest stories. Originally, Rana was... very put off. On one hand, she's heard of the blade of frontiers and genuinely thinks what he does is great, but on the other hand... Wyll has a heart of gold and it scares her. When they have their talk on the beach in Act One, Rana sees that he's not this 'perfect hero' and that he has doubts just like anyone else- he put on a front just like she did. Keeping people at arms length was just... natural.
So yea, they develop from their as they do in canon and albeit his sweet nature, Rana's incredibly shy abt their relationship and answers virtually no questions unless pestered by Vaeril :). They wear Lover's Caress rings to protect one another, and once they get to Baldur's Gate, Rana is quite... stand offish with Ulder and anyone else who dares to be rude to Wyll.
Ok i'll cut my essay short but THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!!I love talking abt her im just . so incredibly shy. but i truly appreciate anyone who made it this far down the ask ily!! 😭😭😭😭

Don’t you dare come for my man Hezekiah
A Bible study, 2022:
Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the Lord of hosts: Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the Lord. And some of your own sons, who will come from you, whom you will father, shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.” Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “There will be peace and security in my days.”
Sophie is shaking her head. “How horrible.”
“I just don’t understand that,” Andrew says.
I do.
.
When Hezekiah was a boy, his father Ahaz offered two of his sons as burnt sacrifices to pagan gods.
Hezekiah was so young then, but the memory never left him: how he’d escaped from his nurse and run to his father. How his father’s face had been tight and unyielding, not the salvation nor even the comfort he had wanted. How his baby brothers had screamed and howled and little Hezekiah hadn’t understood.
The fire had burned until dawn.
Even all those years later, a king in his own right, bile still rose in his throat at the memory.
It was Isaiah who had comforted him later, even as he wept his own tears. “Such wickedness,” he had whispered, holding the boy close beneath his chin and rubbing circles on his back. “How can the Lord bear it?”
“What does the Lord have to do with it?” sobbed Hezekiah.
“Oh, my boy. Yahweh, the One True and Living God, has seen all that that your father does and his inner parts weep for us. You must be a better king than your father, child. You must seek to do right in the eyes of the Lord.”
“I will,” the boy promised, still trembling.
.
From then on, Hezekiah learned of Yahweh, the God of his fathers. He studied at Isaiah’s knee when he could. He read and read. Hezekiah was ravenous for the Lord.
He read of Abraham, who journeyed to a new land on the strength of a promise, and Jacob, who spent a lifetime lying and running away and still inherited God’s faithfulness, and Joseph, who forgave his brothers, and Moses, who was the most humble man in all the world, who saw God’s glory and spoke to Him like a friend. There was Joshua, who conquered Canaan on a string of miracles, and Gideon, who asked for proof, and Saul, who never wanted to be king, and David, the man after God’s own heart. Elijah, who mocked the meager fires of Baal, and Elisha, who was steadfast, and now Isaiah, who was more father to him than Ahaz could ever be, who dared to speak God’s truth, though he might at any time be killed for it.
"This is my inheritance," Hezekiah realized. "God is faithful, and so shall I be, just as my great fathers before me were."
Isaiah smiled when he heard the declaration, but he also cautioned the boy. “The Lord has revealed some of his plan to me,” he said. “He means to save a remnant, do you understand? A remnant of his people, to the glory of his name. The years before you will be full of grief, and so you must choose: to serve the Lord, in spite of the time in which he has placed you, or to turn to wickedness as your father has. This is not the age of King David, child, nor even of Solomon.”
“I don’t understand,” Hezekiah said.
“Have faith,” replied Isaiah with a smile and a sigh. “Yahweh is more gracious than either of us knows.”
Hezekiah’s father defiled the temple and not one of the Levites dared to stop him. He pilfered its treasures and gave them to the king of Assyria in tribute. He built pagan altars in the holy places. He barred the temple doors, that none might enter.
You evil, evil man, his son thought.
.
When at last he became King of Judah, Hezekiah’s first act was to fling open the doors of the temple. In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he had them repaired and restored, and as much of the destruction un-done as could be managed.
He ordered the Levites to consecrate themselves anew: yes, even those who had not stopped his father. “It is in my heart to make a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel,” he told them.
Hezekiah’s courtiers were the same flattering, conciliatory men who had served his father. “I am going to cut down the Asherah,” he told them. “I am going to break Nehushtan and smash the pillars and I am going to tear down the high places.”
“My king,” one man said, “I understand that you want to serve Yahweh, but the people are of a different mind.”
Another man, dripping with rubies, bowed low and added, “Surely, you must see sense. None of your forebearers have ever troubled the high places. People worship there as you do at the temple, and it will not do to upset them. You must break the pillars and take down Asherah and be satisfied.”
“No,” said Hezekiah, with more bronze in his spine than most swords. “The high places.”
Within a week, the high places were gone.
.
When Assyria came for Israel, the people of Judah clamored to have the high places back. Hezekiah stood firm, and waited to see whether Assyria would destroy Judah next. “Lord have mercy on us,” he whispered, knowing that his own father had made bargains with Assyria, knowing that God’s wrath against His people was just. “Oh, holy God, have mercy. Spare us a little longer.”
Assyria arrived at Judah’s gates, just as everyone had known they would, and the king called Hezekiah out to meet him.
He was vile and foul-mouthed, the king of Assyria, but his army was a towering wave bearing down on Judah. He laughed at the notion of salvation from the Lord. Had any other nation’s gods ever saved them from Assyria? He called Hezekiah a liar and worse.
Hope was a guttering torch, but it was still bright against the shadow of death. After he had put on sackcloth and ashes, Hezekiah sent messengers to Isaiah. “Do not worry about my mettle,” he said, with more assurance than he truly felt. “I rely on Yahweh.”
It was a strange message for Isaiah to receive. No king had ever sent him anything like it before.
Hezekiah journeyed to the temple. He stepped inside and breathed deep, inhaling the incense and smoke of the place. Oh, Lord, he prayed, Oh God of Israel. Enthroned above the cherubim. You are the God. You alone. It was the very cry of his heart.
Judah was not what it once was, but it was not yet a ruin of itself. Help us please, prayed the king. Save us. Let all the world see your glory. Don’t let us be destroyed. Not yet. Not yet.
When he returned to the palace, Hezekiah found Isaiah’s reply waiting. God had heard his prayer. Judah would stand, for now.
Trembling with relief, Hezekiah fell to his knees, the gratitude and exhaustion almost too much to bear.
That very night, one hundred and eighty-five thousand Assyrians died in their camps. “An angel of the Lord,” breathed the king, thinking of Joshua.
.
While Hezekiah was still in the prime of his years, he became ill. Sweats and dizziness, boils and sores, and all manner of misery. The court physician put on a hopeful face, but when Isaiah appeared, Hezekiah knew what awaited him.
How awful that Isaiah, who had been as a friend and a father to him, should now only signify dire news with his appearance. The price of kingship, Hezekiah thought. One of many.
Isaiah knelt down and spoke gently, but the authority in his voice was yet sharp and unyielding. “Thus says Yahweh: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die.’”
Hezekiah’s heart seized, though the words were not unexpected. Oh Lord, not yet, he thought up to heaven. Haven’t I walked before you in faithfulness? Haven’t I served you with my whole heart?
Scarcely ten minutes later, Isaiah returned to the sickroom. He knelt again beside the king and spoke his name. “Hezekiah.”
And again, there was hope. The barest dregs of hope, perhaps, but fierce and strong in the bottom of his cup. Hezekiah looked up.
“Thus says Yahweh, the God of David, your father: ‘I have heard your prayer and I have seen your tears. I will heal you. You shall not die yet.”
Just like Judah, Hezekiah was saved. For now, at least. God promised fifteen years, and no more.
When Isaiah offered him a sign, Hezekiah thought of Gideon. “Shall the shadow go back ten steps or lengthen ten steps?”
It was no kindness for the shadow to lengthen. It only brought one closer to the inevitable, to the doom that had been staved off for now but which must be met eventually. “Let the shadows go back,” the king said, and they did. The Lord drew the shadow back ten steps, right across the steps of Ahaz.
.
And so, we come at last to the part where Hezekiah failed. Envoys from Babylon came, and Hezekiah showed them his treasure house. “There is nothing in all my storehouses that I did not show them,” he told Isaiah. He was an old king now, having reigned well and collected many treasures. He did not think much of showing them off.
Isaiah looked at the king he loved and spoke the bitter word of God. “Hear the word of Yahweh,” he said, and he saw the color drain from Hezekiah’s face. “The days are coming when all that is in your house will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left. Some of your own descendants not yet born will become slaves to the king of Babylon.”
Hezekiah sank down, but when he looked up at Isaiah he was smiling. “The word of Yahweh is good,” he said. “I am glad.”
There it is, dear reader. I hope you can forgive him for it.
Oh thank God, Hezekiah was thinking, not yet. Babylon will come, but not yet.
Even the strongest of spines will weaken over the years one spends as king. King of a failing, unfaithful people, no less. What a heavy thing. Hezekiah was tired, even if he had not yielded to it until now. He was grateful for the reprieve, just as he had been the last time God had granted it to him, and the time before that.
Hezekiah had done his duty to Judah; he had done more than his duty. He had failed God’s measure, of course, but who does not? Can you say that you would not have been as tired as he was, when the word of judgment finally came?
.
Isaiah spoke God’s judgment with the grief of a prophet. He wept for Judah. The prophets were so often called to weep God’s tears.
“I do not understand why you are weeping,” Hezekiah told him. “Is this not good news?”
Isaiah looked at the king and saw the little boy weeping for his baby brothers after they had passed into the fire. “It will come to grief,” he said. “Your sons, Hezekiah. The children of your line will die.”
“But not now? Not yet?”
“No. Not for a hundred years. You will sleep with your fathers long before it comes.”
“And you would have me weep for that?”
“Is it not worth weeping for?”
And Hezekiah did not have an answer. Only this: I cannot weep now. All my tears are gone. The bronze in my spine is all used up.
.
[Hezekiah] trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel, so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him. For he held fast to the LORD. He did not depart from following him, but kept the commandments that the LORD commanded Moses.
.
And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

3!
OH HI there :D
3. What were your top five books of the year?
OH ok so in no actual order cos id sit here for 3 hours debating the order :D
There is a trend here with nonlinear storytelling and also books with footnotes which Im not surprised by
Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
its. its great its howls moving castle. i dont know what more i could say just that i wish i would've read it sooner lmao. i knew i was gonna adore the book and Sophie and Howl and everything and i was right :D
Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield
i adore the atmosphere of the book, the like eerie slowbun horror of the ocean. i read it at the beginning of the year and thinking about the book again really makes me want to read more sci fi/magical realism horror
Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett
Epistolary Novel with footnotes and its about Faeries? Absolutely no wonder that i enjoyed it so much. It also made me very nostalgic, and reminded me of listening to the Lore podcast and a bunch of podcasts about fae when i took the bus home after school :D
Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett
ive been making my way thru the Discworld books (very slowly) and honestly, i could fill the top 5 list just with Discworld books, so I limited myself to one. And Reaper Man has got to be the book I still think about the most (both in the "I am staring at the wall at 1 am thinking about the Morris dance" and "Goddamit Terry" when I figured out a new hidden joke)
The Day Death Stopped by Rebecca Thorne
I found Rebecca Thornes work this year thanks to her Tomes and Tea series and while I Adore the series and cant wait for the 3rd book, The Day Death Stopped is tailor-made for me specifically. Non-linear storytelling, Footnotes, witches, complicated soulmates-but-not-really/were supposed to hate each other but now that I know you, i don't type relationship. it just feels like that was made specifically for me (also ace main character :D)

Howls Moving Castle Wip
Hello! Thank you everyone who participated in the poll, it was a lot of fun to see what stories of mine people were more interested in learning about than others. Of the ones in the poll, Howl's moving Castle seems to have won.
Not going to lie, I'm a little surprised at that.
Tumblr media
I'm going to take the main structure and story from the movie while adding bits from the book. So like in the book Howl will be from our world but will have moved to Ingary.
He was originally from Wales and is a son of Aphrodite with a natural talent for magic. Howl and Merope met at Camp Half blood, with Merope being Howl's first magic teacher. He left their world during the second titan war (I'm thinking just before the Battle of Manhattan) but the two stayed in touch.
Due to Ingary having naturally higher levers of magic than Merope’s own world, she often gets light headed.
So, with that out the way - on to the story.
Tumblr media
Merope decided to take a holiday from the BPRD and Howl, being the friend that he is, offers her to stay in his place. She accepts because the time difference between the two worlds is a couple of months ( so like basically its a longer holiday for her).
Thus getting involved in the with the main story. I have a few scenes already planned out, such as:
Going to the parade with Howl, only for him to ditch her when she wasn't looking. Instead of getting all mopey she goes to a café, taking in all the Victorian/ Edwardian magic aesthetic so different from her world and almost spitting out her drink when she see Howl with Sophie in the air.
Merope arguing with Califer about how he is now letting Sophie use him to cook and the unfairness of it.
As the Castle is moving to Star Lake Merope on some ladders, taking deep breaths and feeling the wind in her hair and the high magic in the air.
Merope was trying to rearrange all the beauty charms/ wards in the bathroom after Sophie tidied them away but Howl pissed her off so she so decided to leave it as it is. This is what allowed Howl’s hair to be ginger and Merope has no regrets about it.
My favourite scene so far has to be When Merope, Howl and Sophie are escaping the palace soldiers while on the air-crafts. That is the one that I've got the most for so far, however most of it is dialogue.
Tumblr media
I really want to build upon the Relationship between Howl and Merope in this as well as the themes already set in place.
Like I said before, I plan for the two to have known each other for a long time with Merope being the first one to take Howl's natural talent for magic seriously, while Howl being one of her only friends at Camp Half Blood.
Tumblr media
If anyone has any questions or just wants to talk about this story please just ask as my letter box is always open.
With that in mind, have a lovely day or night my Dearie-Ohs

below the cut is going to be an updated intro to sophie as i have just finished the book of howl’s moving castle and i’m deciding to mix the two canons together because whoooooo boy is my head so full over this book
here is their original intro for movie canon as well as most of their information !!!!
just a reminder before we go any further, sophie uses she/they pronouns !! thank u !!
the BIGGEST change that i’m making is that sophie is actually magical themselves. she has the power, most easily explained, as talking things to life. they are able to look at a hat, tell it that it will bring its owner great wealth, and whoever buys it miraculously marries someone of intense wealth or anything of the sort. she literally looked at her walking stick at one point and told it to beat up an enemy, but not harm anyone else they cared about, and she was like this close to saving the day with a fucking cane.
the other major thing is that, because of that magic, and the fact that they really are not very good at controlling it (since i will still be pulling her from the end of the book/movie), it is something they are still learning here. and it flares wildly whenever she gets angry. imagine someone just throwing knives around blindfolded having no idea the damage they could do. it’s very similar to that.
i’m going to be implementing more of their temper, as well as some of her rushed decision making. sophie is nothing if not impulsive, but in a way that she ALWAYS thinks that she’s being helpful, it just somehow never pans out that way. she blames it on the curse of being the eldest daughter. she thinks that her actions are going to save the day, but ends up needing to be the one getting help.
but, speaking of their magic, because of it, her curse was mostly self inflicted. the witch mostly just... enhanced it, but that part was easy to break off. once that was gone, sophie sort of hid behind being a ninety year old woman. it was easier than facing reality. and her feelings. i will still be holding a lot of my feelings towards how her curse was broken by herself from the movies of gaining that self confidence and seeing themselves as useful and just a strong person over someone everyone looks over. but it is very much a self inflicted curse based off of their inability to control their magic.
i will probably keep the relationships based in the movies since that’s where the common knowledge is for this fandom? and the book is so different when it comes to like who each of the characters are and all. but that being said if anyone has read the book and wants to bring any of those characters, uuuuhhhh do it pls
OH sophie’s hat shop will also be transformed into a flower shop. not so much selling arrangements, but more over a like, bulk shop for flowers? and some bouquets, but mostly like, you go in, there’s just buckets of flowers of different kinds for sale. she will probably keep a small section of hats and some of the tailoring business because it gives them something to do in the slow hours, and they do really love sewing. their clothes do something have a tendency to become enchanted if she talks to them too much. (and they are known to just run their mouth. like she will just go off rambling and talking and just enchants things without meaning to. they are Bad at magic ok thank u)
that’s really the major update????? sophie’s got magic now and she’s not afraid to use it. though she is notorious for making mistakes with it and lowkey using it to mess with howl, cause he knows how to make it stop. xoxo mrs. snoop.
any current connections will be kept i am just updating their backstory!!

I’m adding Howl to the list of characters that everyone makes fun of bc they didn’t take two seconds to look slightly deeper into his character and therefore he’s a joke to them list that i have along with Shinji Ikari and Yusuke Kitagawa.

A Fateful Encounter (5/?)
Tumblr media
“Master Howl!”
You froze up at the sound of the castle’s owner entering the door. A faint trace of gunpowder and ash entered into the air, mixing in with the smell of bacon and eggs cooking.
“The King’s messengers were here- they said you have to report to the palace as both Pendragon and Jenkins.”
Trying not to panic as the sound of the wizard’s footsteps grew closer to where you were, your head remained down with your eyes focused on the frying pan. You could see Calcifer taking a glance at the new figure beside you for a brief moment, before looking away disinterestedly.
“Calcifer,” Howl’s tired voice sounded surprised, “you’re being so obedient.”
“No, I’m just proving how wrong sh- wait a minute!” Calcifer gasped. “You tricked me!”
You shrugged your shoulders, ignoring the look of betrayal thrown your way from the fire demon.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about?” you replied innocently. “I never forced you to do anything.”
“B-but, you…Still! You tricked me!” the fire demon whined.
A deep chuckle was heard from beside you.
“Even so, not just anyone can do that.”
When the wizard’s attention turned to you, all you could do was put every ounce of your attention into cooking the bacon and eggs; acting as if it was the most interesting thing in the world to you.
Outwardly, you were calm and composed- but internally, your mind was in a state of panic and chaos. What were you supposed to do? How were you supposed to act? Should you address how he had mistaken you for Sophie previously?
You considered the thought of just ignoring him and acting like you couldn’t see him. However, your conscious happened to suddenly chime in to remind you of the fact that you had spent the night in the man’s own house without his permission.
Perhaps you could just flee out the door in the next second? The story was progressing just fine without your interference, right? Sophie and Howl were bound to fall in love eventually, and who were you to play Cupid? Technically speaking, you weren’t supposed to be in the story at all, so you would be doing them a favor by leaving.
“We meet again.” The baritone voice sounded from beside you, interrupting your inner tumultuous dialogue. “I had a feeling we would see each other again.”
Ultimately your conscious won the argument of not abandoning your dear friend, and also that Sophie would kill you if you were to do so, you sighed silently in your head. You braced yourself for a brief second, before looking up to meet his gaze.
“Oh, uh…yes?” you responded, inwardly cringing at your choice of words. But once you finally met his eyes, a frown made its way onto your face.
It really isn’t fair him to be this handsome.
You had to wonder if the man knew what his face did to people. But then again, you were talking about Howl here- the world’s biggest narcissist.
You couldn’t help yourself from taking in every feature of his face, and Howl looked nothing but pleased to see you do so. The grin on his lips soon turned into a smirk once he realized how long you had been staring at him for.
“Bacon’s burning.” Calcifer muttered, interrupting the interaction between the two of you.
“Oh thank God.” you whispered under your breath, tearing your eyes away from his sapphire ones. You probably might have ended up staring longer if it hadn’t been for Calcifer.
Snapping your attention back to the fire demon and the frying pan, you quickly moved the pan off of him.
You breathed a sigh of relief noting that only one of the pieces had begun to burn slightly; feeding it to the awaiting open mouth of the grumbling flame.
“Markl, can you get the plates?” you asked over your shoulder, grasping the heavy frying pan handle with two hands.
“Give that to me, sweetheart.”
You could only comply with his words, as he brushed up against your side with no warning, enveloping your hands on with his before taking it from your grip.
Was he trying to woo you? Cause it was working...
“Wait a second, you’re all gonna eat, while I do all the work?” Calcifer shouted from behind.
You looked back the fire with a look of pity.
“I’ll go find some extra fresh logs for you later, alright?” you offered the disgruntled fire demon, before making your way over to the table with the others.
_____________
“So, what brings you two beautiful ladies to my castle?”
Sophie’s eyes widened, still a bit timid in front of the wizard, before looking to you hoping you’d answer instead. But you hadn’t even heard the question, too occupied with watching Markl devour his meal in fascination.
When you felt an elbow to your side, you looked at your friend with a confused look. Sophie responded by pointing her head repeatedly to the wizard across the table, giving you a panicked look.
“(Y/N), why don’t you explain why we’re here?”
“Oh, I sprained my ankle and Calcifer let us in for the night.” You explained as you cut into a piece of bacon.
“Are you in any pain still?” Howl asked a bit concerned.
You waved off his worry. “It doesn’t hurt anymore-“
Wait.
Sophie needed to stay at the castle in order for her and Howl to fall in love, but she would definitely want to leave right after breakfast if she knew your ankle was completely healed now.
“-but still far from painless.” you finished with a frown. “I actually think it’ll be a while until it’s completely healed.”
“You were walking just fi-“
“Would it be too much to ask to stay for a while longer? Just until my ankle’s fully healed, of course.” you quickly interrupted your friend, giving the wizard a hopeful look.
“(Y/N)!” Sophie exclaimed from beside you with a piercing glare.
You’ll thank me later for this.
“We wouldn’t take advantage of your hospitality, though. We can do the cooking and cleaning during our stay here.” you proposed gladly, trying to ignore the glaring daggers from the woman next to you.
Howl smirked in response to your proposal. “What makes you think I need a cook and cleaning lady?”
You deadpanned at what you hoped to be him joking. “I don’t mean to be rude, but have you seen the place?” you gestured to the castle’s interior. “You can’t look at this place and tell me you’re not affected by it. Not to mention, there’s a child living here.” you pointed out. “Look at the poor boy eating like he hasn’t had food in days. This is no place to raise a child in.”
You narrowly missed the elbow jutted at your side by your friend who had been first, completely blindsided by you, and second, now insulting the castle of the powerful wizard while eating breakfast in the said castle.
“Sophie agrees with me- right, Sophie?”
“Yes. Please. I insist.” Sophie smiled tightly, gritting her teeth. She then turned to you with a big smile, that kind of freaked you out. “But since my dear friend has trouble walking at all, I don’t think she should do anything that requires movement.”
“Wait, what?” you were suddenly confused.
“Your friend is right.” Howl agreed. “It would be best to stay away from any physical activities in the interest of your ankle. I am the need of an assistant anyways to sort out my affairs while I’m away from the castle.”
“You do?” Markl asked with a mouth full of bacon.
“Perfect!” Sophie clapped her hands. “It’s settled then. I will do the cleaning and (Y/N) here will be your personal assistant.”
Maybe Howl didn’t need his curse broken. He seemed to be doing just fine. Best if you and Sophie just left after breakfast. Or maybe just you, Sophie was a big girl. She could decide for herself what to do.
“You know, now that I think about it, I think my ankle is feeling much better-“
Your confession was drowned out by the sound of Howl pushing back his chair, standing up with his plate in hand.
“Welcome to the castle, ladies.” he smiled, eyes lingering on you for a second longer. “I’m afraid I have things to take care of so excuse me, my friends. Please, continue your meals.”
Walking over to Calcifer, he dropped the remainder of food on his plate into the fire demon’s open wide mouth before giving out instructions to move the castle and heading upstairs for his bath.
When you looked back at Sophie with a questioning look, she merely returned the same innocent smile you had given her moments before.

Hi.....Can I ask your top 10 favorite anime ever (can be series or movies)? And why do you like them (if you don't mind me asking)? Thanks.....
Hi thank you so much for asking! So my top 10 are
1. Fairy Tail
This was my first anime I ever watched and I know that a lot of people hates it because of the power of friendship and all that crap but I absolutely loved it. I watched it when I was going through a really low period in my life and this is what got me out of it so this anime has cemented its place in my heart forever. Also can we talk about how good the filler episodes were; I think that FT deserves some credit for having the best fillers in any series.
2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
This was also an anime I watched from my noob days so I had no idea what I was getting into and boy was I shocked. I loved every single episode of it and it had such a heavy theme and message but it was brought about so effortlessly that you can’t help but love it. Also appreciated that all the women in this anime were strong and didn’t depend on anyone saving them.
3. Assassination Classroom:
Ahhh this one brought me so much pain. I remember watching the season 2 finale and my dad was in the same room with me and my dad looked up and saw me full on crying and he had the most confused look ever lol. But seriously this is an underrated anime and I absolutely love Koro sensei.
4. Gintama
This was one that I went into for comedy and just to kill time when I was bored but I was caught off guard with the emotional plots, like one minute I’m crying from laughing so hard and the next I’m crying cause the writer broke my heart. Also I loved the openings, endings and OST’s from this anime.
4. Akatsuki no Yona
I thought that this was going to be your typical harem anime where the girl gets saved by her guys in every situation she puts herself in but I was genuinely surprised when it was not. I loved that we got to see Yona start from her lowest point and gradually grow both mentally and physically and her determination to protect Hak at all costs 🤌. And Hak was just 😍😍😍 seriously he set the standard for all my anime husbandos. Also still keeping my fingers crossed for a second season 🤞
5. Attack on Titan
I thought this was an anime about giant naked people eating smaller clothed people; I did not expect it to go in-depth about war, race, genocide and other heavy topics. Honestly I’m really impressed how simple scenes from the very fist episode came into play for the most recent episodes. I know there’s a lot of criticism for the author about the direction and choices he made to end the series but I absolutely loved the manga and I really enjoyed the anime and most certainly am looking forward for the final final final season.
6. Bleach
I think Tite Kubo deserves an award for creating the most attractive characters tbh. Like even the villains were so damn good looking. I believe this was the second anime that I watched and everyone was like oh I bet it was better than Fairy Tail and I’m just meh. I think the reason why I didn’t devote my heart and soul to this was because of the toxic fandom, whenever I talked about it, it was always are you Team Rukia or Team Orihime and I’m like yo I’m just to figure out when are we going to get Ichigo’s dad backstory. Putting the fandom aside I really loved this anime and I can’t wait for the final season to be animated.
7. Howl’s Moving Castle
The plot of this was just absolutely beautiful. Sophie deserved the world and so does Howl. Sophie was such a relatable character to me when I was younger because I understood her insecurities about herself and watching her slowly overcome them was breathtaking. Also Howl’s meltdown after dying his hair the wrong color 💯 % understandable lol.
8. Haikyuu
Ahhhh I don’t think I have enough words to describe how much I loved this anime. I loved that we got to see Hinata start from the bottom and grow from there. It was also nice to see character development from the secondary characters as well. I think this is the first anime that there wasn’t a character that I disliked.
9. Fruits Basket
This one absolutely caught me by surprise. I thought it was a simple love triangle, will they or won’t they get together type of trope and I was thrilled to see how much more in-depth the story went. Seeing how much each character was suffering in their own way was heartbreaking to watch but seeing them overcome their trauma was oh so satisfying. I still stand by what I originally posted that Akito deserved punishment for the abuse that made members of the zodiac suffer.
10. Sword of the Stranger ( Stranger: Mukou Hadan)
This is a very underrated anime movie that I see absolutely no one talking about. It has an interesting plot as well as great animation style. The characters were so likable and the soundtrack really set the theme of this movie. Also watching the familial bond grow between the two main characters was just icing on the cake.

Differences in Howl’s Moving Castle book and movie characters
Most of the characters are not themselves anymore
Sophie is not outspoken and she only gets emotionally in like particularly stressful moments. She’s very calm and for some reason is like immediately into Howl lol
Book Sophie although she was very shy and timid when she lost her inhibitions because of the curse she went all the fucking way. Like that one guy I was too shy to talk to I will now scream at because he’s a mess and I’m a mess too. She has no awareness you’d have to hit her with a brick to understand a hint, she has magic and uses it without knowing about it constantly, talks to things to relieve stress
Mikael (i hate the spelling but for some reason its like this???) he’s pretty meh, a child literally.
Michael Fisher, a love struck hard working stressed out foil of Howl. He’s doing his best okay be careful of the pure bean.
Howl Pendragon/Jenkins this guy is like very chill and dramatic but in a super low key way which is why the hair scene was so weird for me even when I didn’t read the books yet because it just felt out of place.
Howell Jenkins (howl pendragon) you know from the fucking start that he is THE dramatic hoe and he does not hide it. He never broke character and he never tried to be the cool guy in front of sophie because in a way he was honest about his personality instead of pretending to look better.
Witch of the waste a standard ghibli villain ngl she turned good? or just old at the end idk
Witch of the waste (book) oh yeah no she died, she’s super smart pretended to be a teacher and all that, gloated about killing someone that the book had introduced earlier, put on red hair after they cursed sophie
Wizard Suliman?? Pentstemon?? they merged suliman and ms pentstemon into one character. I hate it.
Bejamin Sullivan (wizard Suliman) is pretty strong, a good boi, kinda whipped for lettie but who can blame him? rip he was either a dog or part of a decapitated body for most of the book
Ms Pentstemon Ben’s and Howell’s teacher, the person who revealed sophie had powers lol, also revealed that sophie put a spell on howl’s clothes, she died RIP
The dog he’s just a dog Percival (The dog); Is a mix of the prince of Ingary and Wizard Suliman (also I love how Howl is a fanboy of the arthurian legends he gave himself the last name of king arthur and he named his kid morgan and the dog percival i love this stupid dork)
Lettie Hatter a blonde in a shop that has like what three minutes or screen time??
Lettie Hatter a talented smart witch with a sharp tongue, long dark hair and very ambitious goes against societal expectations, worries over sophie, technically fell in love with a dog but also a man thats a mix of two different people so there’s that, scams a prince at some point as well
Martha Hatter also smitten but smart about it, strong minded, she sus her own mother, wants to have ten children, worries over sophie, a cinnamon bun yeah no they didn’t include her in the movie
Franny Hatter, was worried about sophie briefly, wore a hat, never appeared again
Franny Hatter, single mom of three, was accused of using sophie for money but never was talked about again, is pretty happy with how things turned out, broke what do i do marry the rich duh
calcifer is pretty much the same but he develops less, may your bacon burn
calcifer arms and a heart seeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, stop bullying me, hint hint he doesnt have a heart, give me food, I hope your bacon burns
The King; war hero, outgoing was like in one scene
The King of Ingary; stressed (tm), has like one daughter being threatened, my brother is missing, my royal wizard is probably dead, the candidate for the next royal wizard is trying to fucking escape, I’m at war with another country, i need sleep
Turnip Head prince; is magic and was cursed got cured by sophie, blonde twink
Prince Justin; part of him was in Percival, part of him was in a decapitated body prepared by the witch, was a simp for Lettie ngl, bromance with Sullivan maybe u v u, brother how dare u let my totally not bf go to the wastes im LEAVINg
Turnip head scarecrow; was a spell from Benjamin, is absolutely terrifying, has strong magicks, was an antagonist for a bit, gave sophie a turn, absorbed a skull and started talking, hardcore af

Kasumi, Thane, Shiala for the character ask meme
OHHHHHHHHH i do be too in love
FIRST IMPRESSION
K: a THIEF??? you give me HEIST??? i studied art history in college, and got very focused on art crime and museum security and made several professors quite anxious, so the first time I played 2 and recruited her, she immediately soared to the top of my fave list
T: oh ho oh HO tiddy window. he is... ooh. him pretty. then he talked. HE'S HOT!!!! uh oh weren't you gonna romance garrus?
S: when she feel out of the thorian i was like wat. i am getting my ass kicked by a plant booger. why are you HERE. WHO ARE YOU
IMPRESSION NOW
K: i will die for you. i wanted to see more of her in 3. i wanted to heist the casino with her. extremely in love, forever and always, and if i wanted to punish myself and make another shepard it'd be to romance her
T: shattered. one of the most deeply romantic LIs out there imo. watching him come alive again. unrecoverable. i'll forever love him. also hes hot as fuck lemme lick him. he didn't die, he blasted kai leng in the face the second he leveled his pistol. i will also go to my grave foaming at the mouth what they did to him
S: wife. omg please benchpress me. the first time i played and had that conversation post-thorian and its like oh. you're badass as fuck. a commando and studied for centuries w benezia? AND THEN SHE FLIRTS W YOU IN 2 AND THERE IS NO OPTION FOR FOLLOW UP???? i thought about that scene all the time. and with the next couple playthroughs, every time i got to see her i was like. oh no youre even prettier. oh no you're even cooler. and now its just terminal brainrot. god i wish we couldve recruited her/romanced her. that would have been mad dope. thank god i am sometimes capable of writing fic
FAVORITE MOMENT
K: ohhhh a toughie. it feels like a cop out to say all of them, but her VA does such a damn good job bringing so much personality into her lines so like even going and checking in on her between missions was a delight to hear her comment on squadmates. that heist was so good tho. hoot every time she jumps on the jet and gives hock that jaunty wave. WHAT A BABE!!! i also love when she goes HAha while in combat
T: when he finally talks about irikah and kolyat. it felt so special and intimate to learn about them. and when he cries before kissing shepard. yes.
S: when shE FLIRTS IN 2 OASIFHLJISUDH but seriously when shes free of the thorian and says she wants to help the colony in recompense. that. meant a lot to me. also i watched the renegade version on yt and the fact that she'll just. let shepard kill her without a fight.... that...... ow
IDEA FOR A STORY
K: well. i've got several fics in the works for her w mercy shepard
- new orleans heist
- vinny (the first man kasumi kills)
- ANDERSON NEVER ARRESTS MERCY AU: CRIMELORD MERCY SHEPARD where kasumi is their right hand, and eventually they end up on the trail of saren. alternate recruitment of squadmates >:)
T: i've got a google doc titled cleaning supplies which um. has been the filth i've been posting in chunks. the other fic for him that i just have a barebones bit is hurt/comfort after mercy visits alchera, beginnings of a romance between them. and of course, sports coach au that i will absolutely start actively writing once i've gotten a couple more "essential" mercy fics done
S: i am working on stellan and shiala's first in-person date after the war, inspired by you, the powerful @yellingaboutmasseffect, where they do the floating howl/sophie walk. and then i like to play around with a full-on howl's moving castle shepala au, that i'd probably post scenes from, rather than any sort of longfic. and im still writing very married sleepy fucking. um. yeah. that's almost complete
UNPOPULAR OPINION
K: i will never regret she's there because she makes my life worthwhile, but why was kasumi recruited in the first place?? she's a thief, not a murder powerhouse
T: can't be considered a dilf til kolyat forgives him and even then, hun, you've got a lot of work to do for your kid (which, he does, of course. but it can't be ignored that thane just. abandoned his child)
S: i think she would've made a more fun companion than liara
FAVORITE RELATIONSHIP
(ignoring shepard)
K: i thought the one she had with the spectre jondam bau was fun. i'd write them going on an interrupted heist-turned-date. or a slow burn enemies to lovers thing. if i had time. i also love that kasumi and samara hang out, referenced in 2
T: thane/irikah, of course! what a powerful couple.
S: i would love to read about shiala studying under benezia, and then the curdling relationship has soverign's indoctrination worms between them. to her being sacrificed to the thorian. and then her learning the death of her teacher. like. there's a lot there and it hurts my feelings when i think about it. love that for me :)
FAVORITE HEADCANON
K: her grandmama. i have her as a badass cat burglar that raised kasumi as not only a beloved grandchild, but also her protege. powerful woman. also cared for mercy, but she dies when kasumi is seventeen
T: that he's got a dick like a vodka tampon
S: she's absolutely ripped. i know it. you know it. we all know it. i like the idea that she's both beefy and intellectual. and in my shepala-rotted brain, she's got a real talent for growing flowers :')
