Just watched "In The Shadow of the Moon."
The main point is silencing anti-regime voices and mixed race children save the world.
Typical netflix garbage.
Skip it.

This is from a mid-century Klan group, the White Citizen’s Council, in 1958. John Temple Graves (a frequent BJU convocation speaker) stated:
With the nation in a constitutional crisis over public school segregation, therefore, and with millions seeing it one way and millions the other, a professor who deems advocacy of integration merely the providing of information is obviously not objective enough to teach.
Sounds like the exact same nonsense over CRT by the descendants of the the White Citizen’s Councils.

The combination of the blood line related requirements to be considered Jewish by the Orthodox Rabbinical Court and the restriction of marriage requiring religious ceremonies shows an intent to maintain race purity. At its core, this is no different than the desire for pure blooded Aryans in Nazi Germany or pure blooded whites in the Jim Crow Southern United States.

it’s about disabled love. it’s about self-recognition through the other and also love for the things that make the other other. it’s about the loneliness of existing before you were supposed to. it’s about the loneliness of existing in a way that is non-normative. it’s a celebration of non-normativity. it’s a fairy tale. it’s a love story. it’s so much more but above all else it’s about waiting to see if she really fucks the fish man

Romance repulsed, but somehow, simultaneously being a hopeless romantic aromantic culture is feeling like shit and like I'm an invalid aromantic when I keep seeing romance negativity forced onto my timeline.

I am vaguely aware that Runaway Max presents Billy’s racism as something he adopted wholesale from Neil, but, given the nature of their relationship, I don’t think that’s the most likely explanation.* I imagine that Neil is racist in a pretty standard way for a regressive man in 1984, in that he publicly tolerates (yet perhaps privately resents) “respectable” black people while hating more acceptable targets (the poor, the homeless, addicts, criminals, unwed mothers, etc.) in a very racialized manner if they happen to be black. And I think that, on a surface level, Billy thinks Neil is a stupid, square old man who sucks, partly for regular teen rebellion reasons and partly because Neil is a violently abusive father who really does blow chunks. Yet Billy hasn’t really examined why those attitudes are bad, especially if they don’t affect him directly. And I think his racism is most likely (a) a kind of edgelord rejection of what he perceives as lame 1960s hippie ideals and (b) one of many conduits for expressing his rage (using racism as a pretext to almost kill a middle school kid and terrorize/isolate Max).
*There doesn’t necessarily need to be an explanation for why a white person is racist in a systematically racist society—to a certain degree, it’s something a person absorbs without trying—but Billy’s racism is more active and extreme than the norm.

Do you think Aang would have issues with Sokka and Suki being together since they are both from different nations?
Seeing as Sokka and Suki's relationship doesn't affect him, he probably wouldn't have any issues with it. His attempt to ban intermarriage was such a snap decision, he didn't stop to think about any implications at all. I doubt Sokka and Suki crossed his mind even after the fact.

The great Anna May Wong (whose story will, reportedly, be told on film in a biopic forthcoming from Working Title) as "Rose Li" in Tod Browning's Drifting (1923).

"SCRUTTON TO STAND TRIAL," Kingston Daily Standard. September 9, 1913. Page 2. --- Implicated in the Recent Hold-Up ---- The Evidence of Mar, Found Guilty on Similar Charge, Was Against - Him--Young Girl Given Month. ---- John Scrutton, the young man who was arrested some time ago on a charge of being connected with the theft of a watch from John Gibson in May last on Swift's wharf, was before Magistrate Farrell in police court this morning and was committed for trial.
The hold-up on the wharf will be remembered as two young men are already serving sentences in the Central for complicity in it. One of them at his trial implicated Scrutton, who had fled from the city, and was only arrested a short time ago. Scrutton will come before Judge Price for trial.
A young woman, who has been under police surveillance for about year, on account of her conduct on the street, was landed in the cells last night, and appeared before the court this morning. P. C. Mullinger gave evidence, stating that she had frequently been seen on the streets late at night in the company of a number of men. He saw her on Ontario street about one o'clock this morning with a white man and an Indian, and arrested her.
In sentencing her to one month in jail, Magistrate Farrell said that he wished he could commit several others who had been in her company and if he had evidence enough would do so.

I have 3 steven universe canons and in all of them being lgbt wasn't really a big deal. At least on earth. (Of course I don't know how most of earth was but everyone in beach city was pretty accepting.) On homeworld the diamonds were pretty controlling obviously but they usually turned a blind eye to gems being in relationships. (Unless you and your partner(s) fused in public and had different gem types.)
Also I was transmasc in one of my canons but didn't realize it until I came to earth. I'm not sure how the diamonds would have reacted if they ever found out. The crystal gems were really accepting though. So that was cool. :)
