Vulcan Eyebrow Pointiness is governed by gene(s) in an imprinted region of the genome.
Imprinted genes are expressed differently depending on which parent they're inherited from; either the maternal or paternal copy of the gene is suppressed. On Earth, this can be seen in some human genetic disorders such as Prader-Willi/Angelmann syndrome (both caused by a large deletion on chromosome 15; which one presents is dependent on which parent the mutation is inherited from).
Another case where genomic imprinting causes noticeable differences in phenotype are lion/tiger hybrids. They have the same complement of genes, being 50% lion and 50% tiger, but ligers (male lion/female tiger) are absolutely heckin massive, being larger than both parent species and the largest feline in the world, and are lighter in base colour (more the colour of a lion than a tiger).
Fig. 1: Liger
Tigons (male tiger/female lion) on the other hand are about the size of a tiger and more tigery orange in colouration. This is because of growth-suppressing genes that are active when inherited from a female lion, but not when inherited from a male one, and corresponding growth-promoting genes that are only active when inherited from a male. Female tigers do not have the required growth-suppressing genes to counteract the latter, so ligers get huge, but tigons don't.
Fig. 2: Tigon. Note that both are stripey.
In the case of Vulcans, the maternal copy of at least one gene that governs eyebrow pointiness is suppressed, whereas the paternal one is active. Behold:
Fig. 3: Spock, half-Vulcan with a Vulcan father, has pointy ears and pointy eyebrows (obvious usage of eyebrow liner notwithstanding).
Fig. 4: Lorian, half-Vulcan with a Vulcan mother, still has pointy ears but round eyebrows.
As you can see, the eyebrow pointiness phenotype differs depending on which parent it is inherited from, whereas the ear pointiness phenotype appears to be dominant, much like stripeyness.
tl;dr: Spock is a liger and Lorian is a tigon.

would you be able to give examples/explain more about how race only impacts gideon in the tlt-universe? not being facetious or condescending, genuinely asking. thank you!
Hi anon! If you mean my tags to this post, I wrote
#earth conception of race doesn't impact any character in the series except the canonically brown main antagonist
By which I mean my Worstie and main antagonist of the series, John Gaius (PhD).
I don’t think TLT as a series engages with race in any especially meaningful ways. It’s set in a post-Earth society with entirely different social norms, and there’s no concept of race and ethnicity within the population of the Nine Houses. Physical descriptions of the characters are scarce to say the least, and they rarely spell out the kind of features that suggest specific racial connotations, because the POV characters don’t seem to think it’s something worth remarking upon. iirc, it takes until halfway through HtN for the narrative to confirm that Harrow has brown skin.
[See also Tamsyn’s GtN characters description post. It quotes passages from the book, and you can see how minimal the descriptions are, and she repeats several times that her characters’ appearances are up to the readers’ interpretations. It just doesn’t seem to be a big concern of hers]
Then there’s John, who grew up in twenty-first-century New Zealand and IS explicitly Māori in a way that absolutely impacted his character arc. It's not A major theme of his Nona chapters, but it’s there if you read between the lines. The boarding school he went to, which IRL had a high percentage of low-income Māori students on scholarship. The depth of his climate anxiety, his uncompromising “Nobody left behind” stance before the cryo project was halted, and his fervent hatred of ‘the trillionaires’ afterwards... these are all informed to some extent by his background as an indigenous man imo, and so was the global reaction to his developing powers. The “We were going to put you fellas in jail, weren’t we?” the way his initial attempts at publications are all flat-out ignored by the scientific community and dismissed as culty gimmicky faith healing until he leans into it.
John being Māori is just one of the many pieces of his backstory, and far from the most impactful to what eventually went down, but my point remains that he is the ONLY character in TLT whose racial background 1) affects his story arc and 2) is relatable to the audience. Everyone else is ten thousand years removed from Earth, and I’m just not very interested in using racial identifiers when exploring these characters and their dynamics, because the characters themselves don’t care and neither does the narrative.

Sorry but also. I love Eclipse's use of the word "suit" rather than "body". Like maybe this is just confirmation bias for me (it 100% is) but it reads as him viewing bodies more like clothes. Like it's detached from him and he can change it whenever, rather than the skin he is living within. Temporary containment rather than a permanent home. Yk? Yk???

To make Máté's weird headcanons more historically accurate Elisabeth das musical should've had a scene where Elisabeth demands people to bring her pictures of beautiful women and Tod meddles with it so it's just this photo 99999 times

Time: Alright is everyone finished?
Legend: Yeah, let’s blow this joint.
Wild: [shocked] Why?!
Warriors: Because we’ve finished eating...?
Wild: But this place is really good.
Twilight: [walking off with the others] All good things must come to an end.
Wild: [getting up] I guess you’re right...
Sky: [looking back] What’s he doing?
The Chain: [sees Wild pull out a remote Sheikah bomb in horror]
The Chain: [sprinting to stop him] WILD NO!

I know Dipper got the thing on his hand(I think?) to show their relationship but how does Bill feel about wearing a ring?
Yep, Dipper's got Bill's mark on his left palm, but currently Bill doesn't have anything. Not for any particular reason! Just because he hasn't thought to - he's not used to relationships with so many reciprocal aspects.
At some point either Bill's going to have a lightbulb go off and congratulate himself on a brilliant idea, or Dipper's going to bring it up to him. And if it's the latter, and Bill's lucky, it'll be for a romantic reason, and not a 'putting his foot down' one.

My commitment to being IDW1-lore accurate is starting to become a debilitating compulsion, as I now find myself wondering if I would be able to insert unnecessary metaphors for pregnancy/birth into otherwise unremarkable scenes in my stories.

OK, so I was thinking more about that "Older Brother Mokuba-Younger Brother Seto" idea and figured out why young!younger brother Seto wanted Yugi to be his boyfriend, and it's because if Yugi married him, Sugoroku's Blue-Eyes White Dragon card would technically be his too when the old man dies and it gets passed to Yugi, and Seto, being slightly happier for not being the one having to be The Perfect Heir(tm) here, is more willing to play the long game. 8|b
Also, he challenged Yugi to a card duel for the card, lost to perfectly normal Yugi in a non-Shadow Game, and is slightly obsessed for this reason too. When he finally gets ALL his cool dragon cards, he's going to defeat you, Yugi!!!! Just watch!!!!!!!
(He does not win, but by his cool dragon cards, he is going to KEEP TRYING, and it's not just to see your stupid pretty face and your stupid pretty eyes, Yugi!!)
