First, the OG notes from the outdated post:

→ This count is not about “which was the very first digimon-human contact”, and yes about people with a digivice. Because if we were going to count who was the first human to have contact with a digimon, it’s actually two and they’re Oikawa Yukio and Iori’s dad, Hida Hiroki.

→ I’m ignoring all the inconsistencies with other material (WS & ▽) because they seem to not match well with the original count. So, in this case, Ken’s statement in the anime (Aug 2000) is the one to be accounted for here. I don’t know if Ryo counts as Chosen (possibly yes, judging by 02 flashbacks) but I’m not sure where to place him here.

→ I’m only adding Michael to the count, even if he’s not a main character and yes a side character, because 02 ep 14 had this statement regarding him. And I like Michael too so, let me have him there :V

→ Menoa states in the movie she met Morphomon when she was nine, and according to the Dash X novel version, she’s the same age as Taichi. Which means she became a Chosen in 1997.

→ I couldn’t think of how to include Maki & Daigo’s group in this because ▽ contradicts with the original lore’s math – The fact the Pt4 book released with the movie on Japanese theaters state them being in Elementary School the time they went to their adventure in the DW, and later the confession scene means they’re in University/College makes them possibly been Chosen Children way before 1995, and I’d take it granted that they were chosen by someone else IF weren’t for the Homeostasis being involved in the scene and the digivice being way too modern for that time (it was basically Taichi group’s model. If you look at Rui’s digivice in the leaked footage from DigiFes2022, his model seems to be different and an older version)

→ That said, Meiko is the only character in ▽ that does not fall into contradiction with the math count. Because in 1999 there was not only Taichi’s group, but also other 8 non-featured Chosen according to Kakudou’s notes. So we can consider Meiko one of those other 8 children.

→ When it comes to Wallace, I prefer to think he is game in the original math – Taichi and Hikari met that Koromon in 95, but they had no digivice until 1999. Which means it can be possible that Wallace had encountered Gummy-Choco’s egg before 1995 and only became an official Chosen Child later.

Now, the new notes:

→ To avoid spoiling any detail about the movie itself, I’ll make sure to tell you they might have changed how the math works only. It’s not like, “everyone gets a digimon at the same time” but rather… “A X number of people get partnered with a digimon in different periods of a year” – Which means yes, you can still count Rui and Ukkomon as the origins of the Digimon partnership, but that later in the same year someone else (or, say, Wallace in the main timeline) got a partner months later.

→ That said, I’m opting to update this list and work within the idea that various sources of partnership (Homeostasis, Holy Beasts, etc) can be counted in the math. Remember – Homeostasis (not referred to as this in the OG series but yes in the novels) had selected Taichi & co., but the Holy Beasts chose Dai-Miya-Iori. And some other entity probably chose Ken in August 2000. This could explain why there’s a higher number of partnerships happening at the same time in Adv’99 and 02.

→ As I mentioned before, and indirectly supported by the staff (check the official timeline at the top of the list), ▽ has violated the lore to the point it goes in direct conflict with the new 02 movie and the entire timeline. So I guess it’s better to consider ▽ as its own timeline/Alternate universe than forcing it into the main timeline.

→ That said, and since Meiko does exist in Kizuna/main timeline, I suppose Maki and Daigo also do exist, and maybe they got their “ages” retconned and down to something suitable to the universe’s math count. They can still be part of the previous five kids mentioned in Adv’99 anime/novels, but they are probably around their teen years, or even early 20s instead, not fully adults working for the government I suppose. Or alternatively, just not Chosen yet. Pick your favorite route, Maki/Daigo fans!!

→ Yes, the Koromon from the very first movie IS NOT THE SAME PARTNERED WITH TAICHI. This never was confirmed, and was just fandom's theory. Considering how ▽ also made this mistake and possibly was one of the lore's violation, I prefer to believe this means it's not the same Koromon/Agumon partnered with Taichi in Adv'99.

Ships huh? I imagine Takeru x hikari has been done to death but I never get tired it lol.

Would like a Taichi x Meiko take. I think they would fit quite well together.

Hehe, well, to summarize some positivity about Takari regardless: I do love that they ARE consistently glued to each other at the hip. While people who don't ship it may find it weird, whereas people who DO ship it may be frustrated with them not being confirmed as canon, it's really nice to see that they never drifted apart. Regardless of time passing, regardless of the universe, with all their parallels and developments. And the most recent audio drama proved to me personally that they're perfectly compatible trolls together that enable and have a wonderful time with each other in private (and thus also "off duty").

As for Meichi, I hope it actually comes across when I say that, to me, their set-up would be the ultimate wish-fulfillment: Imagine being ridden by self-doubt and insecurities, are moving to a new place and be embraced, encouraged and supported by the literal sun? Granted, Taichi himself is suffering from self-doubt and insecurities just as much at the time they meet - but he also feels naturally drawn to and protective of "the different/weird ones" and thus, it also seems like their bond may give him another (external) reason to move forward, to re-discover his natural strengths. They're going through similar experiences, loss-related trauma may linger in both of them, and while they still need to work on their communication skills, they are empathetic and soft towards each other - and thus have met at just the right time in their lives.

I have a lot of Thoughts on how Koushiro feels towards Taichi, Actually {And also in reverse, though this is mainly Koushiro’s Point-of-View.} (This part will have just a bit of Taichi perspective too, though.)

I also have a lot of Thoughts on Adventure{s} wider LORE on a grander scale, but also as it relates to Koushiro’s whole canon.

I’ll probably go back and smooth this out later, but for now it’s doing what I want it to do, and hopefully you can follow along by reading the dialogue below: (Note: Contains starting spoilers for the originating series, Chobits, though the context in this part is quite vague, and happens quite early in series.)

[AMV] Lost Time Memory by Hikari

In another timeline, earlier on, Koushiro encounters an accident... Taichi tries Taichi's best to help - but can Taichi succeed? (What happens when the 02 Chosen have 'Fallen'; and the Chosen's memories have been wiped back to around the beginning of Tri?) {They're all still "friends" - but do they even know fully what's going on?} Can you figure out the 'mysteries' unfolding? What more is there to 'figure out'?

This is a re-post (for AO3) of an A.M.V. I made some years back. Taichi Yagami and Koushiro Izumi are heavily featured characters; In this specific A.M.V., Meiko Mochizuki also appears. This series of A.M.V.s is an AU spinning off from various canon points up until the Epilogue. Song featured: "Lost Time Memory", by Jin, from the Kagerou Project series. (This work is not a 1:1 direct parody of characters/storyline there, but very inspired!)

This is a "Music Route" version of my other KouTai/Taishiro story, REPEAT?_ and everything as presented in a series of A.M.V.s for this "Music"-based "route" will heavily connect back to that work. (Side ships may also feature. This AMV is Koushiro x Taichi {+x Meiko as side Polyship}.)

Digimon Adventure Tri and How Toei is Treating their Pairings: Long and Picture Heavy Rant

Okay so there are 3 ships that I am 95% certain will be canon by the end of Tri. One is Koushiro x Mimi (Koumi), pretty sure everyone can get behind me on this assumption. The other two are Meiko x Taichi (Meichi… TaiMei… not sure what they are called) and Sora x Yamato (Sorato), these two seem to still be being debated within the fandom and I get why.

I feel like Koumi is being treated relatively well, they are getting a good amount of screen time together, and from it we can pretty accurately decipher what kind of relationship they would have. With Koushiro trying to please her by wearing nicer clothing

and Mimi making sure he’s taking care of himself while he’s working.

I don’t ship them Romantically at all, I am a hard core Jyoumi shipper and to be honest Koumi actually really upset me when I first saw it but with all the interactions Tri has given me I could very easily defend this couple.

Now moving onto Meichi (I’d going to call is Meichi), you can definitely see hints that these two are going to be end game. There are a lot of classic anime romance tropes within the first movie especially with these two.

Such as her being assigned to sit next to him in class

The long looks they have with each other

And the fact that she blushes when she looks at him

However no real further development has been given to this pairing. He talks to her to comfort her

but Sora and Mimi do the exact same thing.

He shows concern when she is about to get crushed by debris

but then proceeds to scream YAMATO’S NAME

If these two are intended to be canon the way I think they are, an opinion I have justified by tropes and can further justify through promotional material

Then I think that Toei should be spending at least the same amount of time on them as they have on Koumi. And I do not feel that is unreasonable to expect. And this is coming from a hardcore TaiYama shipper who strongly dislikes Meiko.

Moving onto Sorato.

I am of the belief that Tri is taking place in an Alternate Universe and that not everything in 02 is canon in Tri (I intend to do a post on this at some point but haven’t gotten around to it yet). Therefore, I do believe it is possible that in this series Yamato and Sora never started dating and will not be end game. This is relevant because despite that I still believe that they are in fact dating in this instalment and will refer solely to Tri stuff to justify this.

First off, we have the promotional material which like with Meichi I think pretty strongly points to the intensions of the writers

Then we have the fact that they are arriving together.

Pretty definitely sure these two are coming from a date. Do they live in the same vicinity? I don’t think they do but someone tell me if I’m wrong.

Also, these two characters have been seen to be very private people, with Yamato having a lot of difficulty expressing himself and so keeping things to himself (this is shown heavily through his interactions with Taichi in 01) and Sora always putting others first while also being very private about herself (shown by the fact that she doesn’t tell people about her family issues or crest until she’s cornered). So, it is not unlikely that they are just not very open about their relationship in public, if these two were all over each other it would be out of character. However, they should still be getting a good amount of relationship screen time even if it’s just the two of them talking to each other.

But again, although their is more of Sorato than Meichi, we still get very little interaction with these two, and definitely not much that is unique to them and not mirrored by other pairings

Giving her the ticket

All of his interactions with her in Loss are mirrored by Taichi with maybe a few exceptions (that movie was Taiorato heavy, not that I’m complaining because I really enjoy Taiorato ❤)

So far, the primary Sorato moment we have gotten with these two on screen one on one is the shoulder touch and reassuring words.

But if these two are dating and are meant to be end game then they he should be getting an equal amount of interactions with her as he is does with say Takeru.

Private is one thing, I don’t expect them to be all over each other, it would be very out of character if they were. But at least have them talk to each other on screen without TAICHI ALSO BEING THERE!

Also, can I just say that Yamato is like the worst boyfriend ever. He brings Taichi along to comfort his girlfriend which he really shouldn’t have to do

but on top of that he is completely unaware as to what is wrong with her AND HE SHOULD BE! Yamato is a very perceptive person (one of my favourite aspects of his character). He Immediately notices something is wrong with Taichi before anyone else does and starts paying very close attention to him because of it

He accurately determines that something is wrong with Takeru and comes to talk to him about it

And with these two things he has very little to go on to know that there is something wrong, with Sora it’s literally right in his face and he is not paying enough attention to her to notice. Because like she points out he is too busy fighting Taichi… AGAIN

Seriously Yamato has had more meaningful interactions with Meiko! He gets to save Meiko TWICE

but he can’t save Sora on his own ONCE?

He’s got to bring Taichi along as backup. He didn’t need backup to save Meiko when Taichi was going through his PTSD

JYOU got to catch her out of the air like HER KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR.

While Yamato is off performing some kinda weird synchronized swimming with TAICHI!!!!

YAMATO, STOP GIVING YOUR JOB TO OTHER PEOPLE!!!

At this point I almost feel it makes more sense for Meiko and Yamato to be end game more so than Meichi and Sorato (If we are sticking to only Monogamous and Straight relationships that is… OTHERWISE BRING ON THE CANON Taiyama and Taiorato 😝 Cause we all know that’s what’s really going down lol)

Anyway, this whole thing annoys me because I feel like if creators are going to make something canon they should properly invest the time into what they are making canon. Because to me, the whole point of making canon pairings like Sorato is to make us love them as much as presumably the creators should love them, the same way that the author tries to make us love the heroes of the story. Now that isn’t always going to work, people are going to ship what they choose to ship but it can definitely help, because like I said before I am not a Koumi shipper but Tri has made me understand the appeal and capable of defending it if I choose to. I cannot say the same for Sorato or Meichi, and maybe that is just me but I feel like their lack of One on One interaction has something to do with it.

Sorato deserves more screen time and love from its creators, it is the longest lasting canon romantic relationship in Digimon, and its fans have waited 15 years for them to get more development. I honestly feel bad for Sorato fans when other ships that aren’t even cannot yet/will likely never be canon are getting spoiled *cough cough* koumi *cough cough* Taiyama

It’s one thing to have to read between the lines or look for small moments with ships that are not meant to be canon but I don’t feel we should have to do that with Canon Pairings…

Anyway, maybe some Sorato and Meichi fans will disagree with me, I welcome it because I know I probably missed a lot of interactions. At the same time though I have seen many Sorato fans who are not happy with the lack of Sorato in Tri and I think they have a valid point.

Taiora #60

Imagine Taichi and Sora on their wedding day 💒. Sora’s and Taichi’s mothers crying as their children say the words “I do” to each other. The digidestined members getting all emotional because this wedding is the first one where two special members from their group are getting married and not just to anybody but to each other.

Imagine the after party 🎉 where Taichi and Sora share a dance together and Taichi is holding his wife securely. After that dance Sora gets to dance with her father who ends up making Sora laugh by trying to prove how great of a dancer he is. The night would be wild since everyone would have fun.

Later in the night Sora would throw the bouquet 💐 and to her surprise Hikari catches it and eyes Daisuke (who smiles back at her). Their digimon would be raiding the food 🥘 for most of the night. Hikari nudges her brother to take Sora alone so they could spend some time together (leaving up to interpretation). She also tells him that Agumon and Biyomon/Piyomon will stay with her.

Yamato and Takeru would be having a funny conversation with Daisuke (in reality Takeru and Daisuke would bicker about which one of them is taller while Yamato just laughs because at this point he can’t admit that Takeru is taller then he is). Mimi, Miyako and Meiko pull Sora aside and ask about juicy details about Taichi..... Sora of course dosent say much and Mimi ends up being a bit sad that Hikari caughts the flowers and she didn’t. Ken, Koushiro, Iori/Cody and Jyou/Joe try to spot their digimon from eating practically the entire table but laugh at some of the jokes their digimon try to make (especially Veemon who has no problem cracking a joke or two).

Hikari and Sora get to talk alone and they share a deep and heartfelt conversation. Hikari is so happy that Sora is now her in law and another figure making her brother happy. Even at her own wedding Sora tells Hikari to continue to take care of herself and that if something were to go wrong she could always call her.

At the end of the night Taichi and Sora would leave together while everyone else stayed at the party to enjoy themselves. The two of them would spend a couple nights in a hotel (Taichi’s idea because let’s face it when it comes to Sora he is a complete romantic).... and the two of them would make love ❤️ together keeping their hands intertwined while doing so. They would whisper and plant gentle kisses telling each other how much they love each other.
