March 2024 Important Dates
AKA my notes on The Astrology Podcast's March Forecast.
February recap: The conjunction between Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Pluto in Aquarius conjunction has aligned with new tech developments. The Venus-Pluto conjunction heralded OpenAI's new text-to-video generator and the ensuing discussion on its potential political, labor, and artistic effects. Mercury was conjunct Mars and Venus trine Jupiter (with Virgo Moon completing a grand trine & involving the Saturn-Pisces opposition) the day Neuralink tried its first human subject. How will different parts of society react to further developments in cybernetics and body augmentation? Past occurrences of astrological alignments can help us make predictions. Advances in robotics during a major transit in the humanistic sign of Aquarius will challenge us to redefine what it means to be human. On February 10th, around the Mars-Pluto conjunction, a group of people set a self-driving delivery car on fire in San Francisco. These robo-taxis are likely going to increase when Jupiter enters Gemini, and indeed a few companies are poised to launch in other cities.
In other Pluto in Aquarius news, last episode Chris noted there's work in using X-rays to ancient scrolls from Herculaneum and Pompeii that can't be opened without incurring damage. On February 5th, the day of the Mercury-Pluto conjunction, the first images of one of these scrolls have been made available. This fits with Mercury-Pluto themes of lost or buried information coming to light. On the same day King Charles of England's cancer diagnosis was announced--an announcement of mortality. We also had the first privately-funded lunar vehicle landing. Pluto makes large thing imperceptibly small and makes microscopic things enormous.
In Saturn in Pisces news, in 2020 Chris predicted success for Miley Cyrus's Saturn return and indeed she won the Grammy. This also marks part 2 of the Dune movie--the book was written under Saturn in Pisces as well. Other influential sci-fi & fantasy stories were written under Saturn in Pisces like Lord of the Rings, and our hosts predict that a new classic will be born during this transit. In other Mars-Pluto news, we have ambiguous stories about nuclear weapons and Israel's announcement of storming Rafah. Unfortunately the upcoming eclipses (connected to 6 months ago) do not bode well for cessation of warfare. On February 15th, farmers in India have begun striking again, and doctors in South Korea walked out on the job to protest working conditions--Mars in Aquarius squaring Jupiter-Uranus in Taurus reactivates these ongoing labor disputes.
Our hosts recorded the forecast before the perfect Mercury-Saturn-Sun conjunction in Pisces hit on February 28th (the day I'm typing this!), which is one of the major influences over the first half of March. The other big influence is Mars-Venus in Aquarius. In the mutable, indeterminate sign of Pisces, Saturn doesn't bring us as much order as he did in the previous two signs of his domicile.
March 2nd/3rd - Venus square Uranus
Venus in Aquarius squares Uranus in Taurus--either a change is needed to bring us peace and pleasure, or something is disrupting our pleasure. Austin says either way, this placement prompts us for significant changes. Venus's is overcoming Uranus (earlier in the zodiac, has the upper hand), so we can make good use of this placement if we shake things up a little bit in relationships.
March 9th/10th - Mars square Uranus, Mercury enters Aries
Mercury has entered the sign where he'll retrograde, stretching what would normally be a transit of a few weeks into 2 months. Mercury in Mars's sign amplifies the wishes of the red planet, who's doing some pretty interesting stuff. In a firey Mars-ruled sign, Mercury wants something practical to do. This clarity and decisiveness will be welcome after all the indecision of Pisces. However, the North Node is in Aries, with the power to obscure things even when it's not blocking the Sun's light. There will be an eclipse here in April, so the pathfinding is tricky. We'll definitely be doubling back as Mercury prepares to retrograde. Sometimes you need to dive into things while you have the vision, yet before you have the rationale. Austin likens it to clearing your way through thick jungle terrain to determine whether a route is viable--it's only by going forward that you find out that you're on the wrong path, and thus, where the right one is. Mercury retrogrades teach us to learn from our mistakes--third time's the charm!
Mars follows Venus's path, and along with Mercury, weighs heavily on the upcoming lunation. Mars-Uranus connotes surprise attacks, sudden severing, unexpected explosions. Internally this can make us feel restless and impulsive. Keywords: recklessness and action without planning. Think of a cigarette being dropped near an oil drum. Technology disruptions are also likely.
March 10th - Pisces New Moon
Saturn and Neptune are close by to this lunation, and though Mars-Uranus is weighing in, Mars in particular is ultimately reporting to Saturn's broader plan. As Neptune and Saturn approach their conjunction, we'll seek escapism and the imaginal as a respite for our fatigue. We need to step out from being immersed in these waters. Mercury conjoined Neptune on the 8th before he left Pisces, leaving the imprint of confused or empathic communications in the air as the lunar cycle resets for the month.
March 11th/12th - Venus enters Pisces
From here she builds up to a conjunction with Saturn at 11° on the 21st. As the sign of her exaltation, she's better able to bring harmony and reconciliation in our relationships, though Saturn brings a cool distance to our relationships. She'll conjoin Neptune in this sign next month. We may also see some kind of artwork that resonates with people on a deep emotional level.
March 17th - Sun conjoins Neptune, Electional chart
At around 1PM local time, this chart has Cancer rising with a dignified Moon in Cancer, applying to a trine with Venus at 7Pisces and sextile with Jupiter in Taurus in the 11th house. This chart occurs before things go crazy later in the month and is the best time to start something new. It's especially good for friends, groups and alliances and doing new things outside of the box.
March 18th - Mercury enters shadow (not pictured)
Mercury hits 15Aries, the point he'll retrograde back to, at the same time as he conjoins the North Node. This is a precursor of things that will occur in April.
March 19th/20th - Sun enters Aries
This puts the Sun in the same time as the Node that will eclipse it.
March 21st - Venus conjoins Saturn
Saturn and Venus bring a sort of melancholy beauty to things. Though we may see them at odds for signifying discipline and love respectively, Saturn does exalt in Venus's sign of Libra. In the sign of Pisces empathy is especially relevant--think understanding each other's feelings because we've suffered the same things. Nostalgia is another important keyword.
March 22nd - Mars enters Pisces
This puts him on track to contact to Saturn (exact cojunction c. April 10th)--a dangerous combination. Along with the Sun in Aries and Mercury slowing, this represents the event horizon of major developments for the rest of the month and early April. This will be the first Mars-Saturn conjunction in Pisces; note the Aquarius conjunctions in 2020 and later years coincided with the COVID lockdown(s). Sea lane transit will likely slam on the brakes as well, and current maritime conflicts will see big developments. More figuratively we may ask "where are we going, and what dangers lie ahead?"
March 25th - Libra Lunar Eclipse
For about a week things have been building up to this eclipse. Its twin will be visible across much of the United States in early April, meanwhile a comet will start to be visible in the night sky. Mars in Pisces copresent Saturn weighs heavily on this eclipse. The pace of events starts moving quickly and chaotically around eclipse season, and things start to move rapidly up or down, especially for prominent people & companies. This eclipse represents a culmination or next chapter of events started in October--major beginnings and major endings (in the Libra house of your chart for individuals). The picture may begin to get clearer. It's not the last installment, but things are clearly underway. Unfortunately this does not bode well for ongoing global conflicts. We can't see clearly with the eclipse, meanwhile Mercury is slowing down about to station retrograde, while right on the North Node. Combined with dangerous Mars-Saturn, it's a bit of a crazy situation. Jupiter's approach to a conjunction with Uranus indicates some surprising, amazing wins, and some people will find unexpected good fortune once the smoke clears. However, not everyone will be able to count on winning the Jupiter lottery here. (Later in April, when Jupiter conjoins Uranus exactly we can expect some kind of freedom and liberation).
The two weeks between these eclipses will be very active, dramatic, and chaotic, with beginnings and endings galore. In the Indian astrology dasha timing technique, the US Sibly chart has been in a time period ruled by Rahu (north node) since the early 2010s, making any eclipses visible in that country especially important to it. This is a time to be flexible!

Moon Oppose Neptune. You will be more easily attentive about indulging your own interests and quandaries, rather than focusing on what actually needs to get done. If you have any deadlines or duties today, you’ll want to place purposeful focus on making sure that is what you spend your time on instead.
Extra Info: If what you need to get done today is business or financial in nature, really truly fight hard not to stray from the related tasks during this time. Successful completion in this area today will serve you well in the near future.
Moon Square Mars. You might start to feel restless about how slowly the changes you want are taking place in your life, and here is where you could make rash or careless decisions. Don’t put things on the line because of impatience. You will end up causing pain for yourself or others.
Extra Info: Your negative side isn’t going to benefit you, not even in the little quirky ways you think it is. However your positive side IS. Astrology Observations #1
🩵Mars in Gemini and Virgo are very quick learners. They're at their best when they keep themselves busy with new and intellectually stimulating hobbies.
🩵Cancer placements in the big 3 have the most comforting and nurturing energy. These people are so easy to be around and it feels so easy to be yourself around them. I feel like people don’t give cancer placements enough credit for how good they are at making people feel loved.
🩵10th house moons are very loved and admired in their careers. I've noticed a lot of celebrities with this placement.
🩵Neptune in the 11th house can really idealize their friendships and groups and can end up being very deceived by them. Their friends can be very phony and not their true friends at all.
🩵Leo and Libra in the big 3 makes someone a natural in the spotlight. Fame comes easily to them.
🩵Moon in Pisces or 12th house tend to have very strong connections to their dreams. They can even have epiphanies that help guide them in their life.
🩵In solar return charts, I've noticed that when the transit sun conjuncts the solar return chart ruler, a pivotal moment will happen for that year related to what planet it is. For example, my solar return ascendant in 2022 was in Sagittarius and when the sun made a conjunction with my solar return Jupiter, I received my associate's degree. My previous solar return ascendant in 2021 was in Libra, and when the sun made a conjunction with my solar return Venus, I developed a new long-term crush that inspired me to pursue a new passion. It can be fun to make a note of these dates every year to see what comes up.
🩵8th house synastry is no joke. These connections are incredibly intense and very hard to break free from. It can feel almost impossible to forget about this person. Very transformational as well.
🩵Harsh moon aspects are strong indicators of a wounded relationship with the mother. Pluto square the moon in particular is a very challenging placement for this matter. The mother could have instilled deep trauma and fear in you at an early age.
🩵Positive Mars and Venus aspects make someone incredibly charming. They're often easily liked and admired. I've noticed this the most with Mars sextile Venus.
🩵It's so important to pay attention to your moon sign/house/aspects to discover what you need to feel emotionally fulfilled. For example, I'm a Pisces moon and need to be creative and have a healthy amount of alone time daily to feel content.

🌼💛Just an update so far, I have a 5th house stellium in my chart this year and life has felt so carefree. Life made me get rid of my old crush and made me focus on myself for a while(Pluto) until just friday I met someone new unexpectedly(Vertex). I havent felt this feeling in almost 3 years its really exhilarating feeling like this and I actually have a good feeling about it. It felt like I was meant to cross paths with him at this point in my life right now because im actually focused on my higher self. I feel that Vertex along with other major planets like the Sun, Mars, Mercury, Pluto, and POF made meeting him feel fated because for one ever since Ive met him ive consequently crossed paths with him multiple times in just the span of 3 days. Its not a deep connection however(5th house) but I hope to beat the odds and make something out of it. So overall, Ive had lots of fun, peace, and new interests in love.
🌼💛So I recently just discovered this, but you can go and find your monthly/daily transit chart and overlap it to your natal or solar return chart to see how your school, career, family, or love life will be. I was wondering why was it that I never got the opportunity to meet someone in matters of romance but i did multiple times in friendships and then I saw that in my transit charts I never had Venus in the 7th house until last month. Venus had always been in like the 11th, the 10th, or the 3rd and school and friends was what was constant in my life. Sometimes even having Venus in the 8th can mean a change in your love life. I even looked all the way through 2022 and 2023 and all 12 months there was not one placement of Venus/Mars/Moon in the 5th or 7th until my transit chart of Febuary 29. Venus conjuncted Mars in the 8th and what happened? I saw the new guy who was exactly my type and I found interest in him. My next transit will be March 30 with Venus, Saturn, and Neptune in the 7th, and Mars conjunct the descendant. Im hoping that things will go well and I can get the courage to talk to him but we'll seeee.

It could also mean you feel romantic this year and could even have more opportunities given to you to express those feelings.
🌼💛7th house Neptune means having dreamy fantasies about people you wanna date. Could have your head in the clouds or you can just have high hopes regarding this area. Could be spiritually calming regarding partnerships but you can be manipulated and gaslighted too if your not careful.

🌼💛Having Chiron in the 4th is not fun lol. Could mean family problems, struggling to feel at home when youre at home, and having trouble having a safe space.

🌼💛Venus in the 6th could make you follow health, beauty, and workout routines or it could oppositely make you feel lazy and not wanna do anything. It also means feeling comfortable at work or find a interest at work.
🌼💛In 2020 when covid hit I had Saturn in the 5th house and it makes so much sense looking back. We were forced to be isolated and I couldnt go out because of the lockdown. Dont get me wrong though I still had alot of fun with my family but I feel like my middle school experience wouldve been alot different if that hadnt happened.
🌼💛Having a Cancer Ascendant back in 2015 was when my older cousin got married and that was a big event for our family that girl spent almost a 100k on her wedding. She was the first to get married out of the kids in the family. Even having Cancer degrees in the chart will mean change or some significant event in your family life.

Energy Update: May 2024
May is a "4" Universal Month [5 (May) + 8 (2024) = 13 = 1+3 = 4] in an "8" Universal Year. "4" months are about shoring things up and creating structure. We were put through the wringer during April's intense total solar eclipse and Mercury retrograde cycle, and now we are tasked with picking up the pieces and making something out of what is left.
The Set Up
We begin the month of May with the Sun, Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus in Taurus; Mercury and Mars in Aries, Saturn and Neptune in Pisces, and Pluto in Aquarius. This continues our pile-up of planets which have now been in a sequence of conjoining signs for several months. This indicates that this area of life - stretching from Aquarius and Pisces (the last two signs in the horoscope wheel) through to Aries and Taurus (the first two signs) - needs all of our attention. Something is ending and something is beginning but we are still mid-process.
By month's end, the Sun, Venus, and Jupiter will have entered Gemini and Mercury will enter Taurus. Additionally, Pluto will have stationed retrograde.
The Nitty Gritty
When I say that "4" months have a certain feel, I want to point to May 2024 as a prime example. April was challenging for many people (I hesitate to say most but I think it might be headed in that direction) and it has left a big mess in its wake. It may take some time to gather ourselves enough to pick up the pieces, but May, with both its transits and its 4 energy, will offer us every opportunity to do so. The thing is, "4" energy isn't something that just happens, you need to work for it.
In this, often-lazy Taurus isn't doing us any favors but we are getting quite a bit of support from Mars in its home sign of Aries and Saturn in Pisces. This month's big flex will be to get up daily and put one foot in front of the other. Show up for yourself. There are a couple of potential windfalls towards the end of the month but they will be much more beneficial for those that have put in the work beforehand.
The month begins with a bit of an ending as Venus in Taurus meets up in a fixed square with Pluto in Aquarius. There are a couple of things in play here. The first is that Pluto retrogrades the next day; during this retrograde, it will move backward into Capricorn for the last time later this year. The second is that this is part of an ongoing interplay between Venus and Pluto that stretches back to Venus's retrograde in January of 2022 which was directly conjunct with Pluto in Capricorn.
We are in an ongoing cycle that involves the evolution of relationships (highlighted by our lunar node's transits through Aries and Libra) with a marked push towards valuing the individual over the system as a whole. Venus, through her rulership of our relationship-loving sign Libra, has been in the hot seat for a while now. Now she is in her other ruling sign, Taurus, a sign that can be equally as unwilling to make a change. The problem is that Pluto isn't a planet that can be reasoned with - as one of our outer planets, it is far beyond our control and immune to our influence.
When given the choice to bend or break, Taurus rarely chooses to bend. That will be a problem all month long as our personal planets all move through the sign of the bull and are forced to butt heads up against the inevitability that Pluto brings to the table.
Mars is in play here, too. At the end of April, Venus and Mars entered their home signs which is generally a positive indication for relationships of all kinds. Unfortunately, it brings both into immediate contact with Pluto. This could be a boon for relationships that are future-focused and committed to changing in ways that benefit all people involved. But it will be part of the ongoing stressor for those that are not. This is your cosmic reminder that the North Node in Aries demands independence for all parties during this time; avoid that at your peril.
Pain is on the table. Mercury, now direct, is working its way through its post-retrograde shadow where it meets up with Chiron for the third and final time at 21° Aries. This is very close (within 1°) to the point of our solar eclipse last month which included a rough stellium between the Sun, the Moon, retrograde Mercury, Chiron, and the North Node. We may have moved on (it has been a whole month and we are about to experience a new moon at 18° Taurus), but the scars have barely scabbed over. Monday 5/6 may prove a rough day for many who had difficulty with the solar eclipse as it may echo those same repeating themes.
As a culture, we are taught to ignore our pains but Chiron calls for us to stand up and look at them in the eyes. To know them and where they come from. This isn't the easy path and it can require help (professional or otherwise). All aspects to Chiron support shadow work and healing of all kinds. With Mercury involved, you may want to talk it through or write it out.
This will still be in play for our New Moon at 18° Taurus on late Tuesday night (5/7) or early Wednesday morning (5/8) depending on your time zone. This lunar conjunction is in a strong sextile with Saturn in Pisces. Saturn can be a hard taskmaster, but that is necessary here - after a rough month, we are tasked with picking up the pieces and moving on. This is our first new moon since our eclipse cycle and our first chance to set intentions or to set things right. Taurus can be a very self-indulgent sign, so do your work and get yourself a little treat afterward for morale.
Small consistent steps are the name of the game all month long. Saturn can help us here. Things may feel hopeless (especially if you were rocked by eclipse season or Mercury retrograde) but Saturn reminds us that time changes all things. Today is the first day of the rest of your life, you might as well get going and do something about it.
After that, we sit for almost a full week without any non-lunar aspects. This is always a sign that we need to think about what we've done. This doesn't have to be a bad thing. Keep moving. If today is hard, wake up tomorrow and start all over again. Taurus has a lot of staying power, you just need to tap into it.
5/13 will be a big turning point in the energy of the month. Venus in Taurus will sextile Saturn (another chance to work, I guess?) and Mercury will finally exit their post-retrograde shadow. Additionally, our Sun will conjunct Uranus at 23° Taurus - this starts a major Taurus stellium between the Sun, Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus that won't complete until Venus conjunctions Jupiter at 28° on 5/23.
Ten days to get some shit done, that's nothing to snaggle about. This energy will go from intense to more fruitful. I'd stay very aware and out of the fire on 5/13 (Uranus rules unexpected disasters) - don't handle explosives if you don't have to, physically or metaphorically. Uranian energy is uncontrollable at best, so step out of the way if you need to. But it does tend to encourage change and, with both the Sun and Jupiter involved, we can use this to our advantage.
On 5/15, Mercury finally enters Taurus after its ten-week tour of Aries. This was a really long time to experience our planet of communication in the fiery cardinal sign of the ram. It's been a rough go all around with seemingly everybody having opinions about things they know nothing about. May the know-it-alls fall back into the shadows where they belong. Mercury in Taurus can be a bit bullheaded, but, for the most part, will think before they speak which is a major win. Depending on how your April went, you might need to apologize for a few things you said or fights you picked. Own up now because Mercury will meet up in sextile with Saturn soon enough. (Saturn rules consequence and repercussions)
In fact, Mercury makes an immediate square with retrograde Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto, like Uranus (who is very much still in play in that major Taurus stellium), acts upon us as an otherworldly presence. We don't get to control how the planet of death and transformation shows up in our lives; the best we can do is adapt to these overarching inevitabilities. Neither Taurus nor Aquarius is particularly adaptable, so this may be a tough day - thankfully, Mercury transits pass quickly.
5/18 is our first benificent day of the month: our Sun is conjunct to Jupiter which brings great opportunities for luck and expansion (especially in the abundant, fertile sign of Taurus), Venus is conjunct to Uranus so chance is on the table, and Mars is conjunct to the North Node in Aries. If you need a change of pace, this is your day. If you are looking for luck, love, or money, this is also your day. I would work firstly with the Sun, then with Jupiter, and finally with Venus. Together this trifecta can pull in the power of otherworldly Uranus and our lunar nodes.
The seasons are beginning to shift again and we look to the late-spring mutable air sign Gemini. Our Sun in Taurus makes a quick and murky sextile to Neptune in Pisces on Sunday 5/19 before entering the sign of the twins on 5/20. Venus and Jupiter aren't far behind which is a major boon to anybody with a strong Gemini element in their charts. But first, our Sun meets up with retrograde Pluto once again, this time in trine rather than last month's square. The changes that need to be wrought this month are getting easier the further that we progress - Gemini, unlike Taurus, is open to bending in the ways needed to accommodate new things. That is, so long as they understand what they are bending for.
We've got a full moon for that! On Thursday, 5/23, Venus conjuncts Jupiter (so, so auspicious!) under the light of the full moon at 02° Sagittarius, the sign ruled by Jupiter. This is our second beneficent day of the month. Both Gemini and Sagittarius are inquisitive signs eager to learn and study. This is an auspicious day for all, but especially for scholars, students, artists, and writers. This is a great day to plan out your (artistic) year ahead, to apply to see your work published or in an art show, or simply to work with the magnanimous energy of Sagittarius to expand and grow. Set out some milk and cookies for Jupiter during this time (or maybe a good glass of scotch) and ask for some inspiration, it will be sure to follow. Later in the day, Venus enters Gemini.
On Saturday, 5/25, Jupiter joins Venus and the Sun in Gemini. Anytime our intermediate or outer planets change signs, the energy shifts substantially. We may find ourselves more interested in intellectual pursuits while Jupiter transits the airy sign of the twins, but we should be wary of Too Many Mind. Jupiter enbiggens everything it touches and Gemini is known for its chronic indecisiveness. Unlike some signs which can be too maudlin to see any options at all, Gemini's indecision comes from seeing too many choices and a desire to explore them all. You may need to take concrete steps to stay on track. (unless you enjoy rabbit holes, I'm not judging)
With Jupiter in Gemini, Gemini season will happen fast and you can see that reflected in Mercury's aspects. Mercury in Taurus makes a tougher aspect to Saturn in Pisces on 5/27 which is a reminder to keep a check on our thoughts during this airy season (always important) and then makes a major conjunction to Uranus at 24° Taurus. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercurial energy - where Mercury is thought, Uranus is pure inspiration, or, sometimes, madness. If you are prone to extreme flights of fancy or intense mania, this is a day to watch out for. If you need a good push to create or be bold, it can be used to your advantage.
Our last aspect for the month is a tough conjunction between Mars and Chiron at 22° Aries - this again is a reminder that when we are not paying attention to our actions, we can end up in some pretty rough places. Mars in Aries would rather run at full speed and is known for not looking where he is going. You might need to reign in some of your impulses as we get deeper into Gemini season, or else you end up sore muscled, and unable to move for a bit.

When it all fell apart
My Scorpio sun in his 12th house. 🥴 one thing I ignored in astrology was how south node /12th & 8th house relationships never last & karmic . And shiiidd this ended abruptly. Like I knew this would happen , just I’m shocked. My south node is in ♑️ , his Saturn in my 8th . Jupiter is transiting my 7th house right now , I thought some lovey-dovey stuff would be happening now. But I guess it’s just a big change in relationships for me.
Lions gate portal / Full moon - I heard a lot of relationships ending right now . Meant to remove all negativity from ur life and karmic stuff with Saturn being retrograde . Uranus / mars / conjunct north node or something like that . This is meant to happen . So he was just a lesson for me. The lesson I’m still trying to figure out.
I know all you little Capricorns are so hard on yourself, I adore you . I don’t know where I messed up I’m usually careful on that stuff , maybe he just needed space to better himself , idk I’m giving myself false hope , would definitely give him another chance if he added me back , if someone sees this talk me out of it haha 😂

The week begins in a mellow mood (I think those of us in the US will be trying to thaw out), but when the Moon enters Aries we’re suddenly champing at the bit to go do things. Unfortunately, Mercury stations retrograde only one hour before the Moon goes into Aries - and of course Mars, Aries’ ruler, is also retrograde.
What a weird way to start 2023, with both Mercury and Mars retrograde. Yikes.
That said, it is also kind of nice to start a calendar year under a First Quarter lunar phase. The combination of “take action,” and January 1, is a very productive prospect. Evem better is that on New Year’s Day, that First Quarter Taurus Moon will be trine the Sun in Capricorn. Quite auspicious.

Which Rising Signs Will be Affected the Most by Saturn Retrograde?
The Saturn Retrograde cycle, that we are operating in now until January 2023, when Saturn permanently moves from Capricorn to Aquarius, will be most intensely felt by certain Risings Signs, and thus will bring for these natives the most changes in their lives. Below, I will explain why and how different Risings will be influenced.
Saturn produces for houses 6, 8, 10 and 12. A retrograde period of Saturn activates a revamp of these houses for every Ascendant Sign. However, while Saturn retrograde energies are affecting us for over half a year, several other planets will go retrograde at the same time. If these retrogrades fall into the houses already activated by retrograding Saturn, each of these houses receives a double planetary emphasis, resulting in an additional amount of pressure in these areas of our lives. That will be especially prominent for people who have natal planets in houses 6, 8, 10 and 12 of a Rising Sign that is strongly affected by this retrograde. The most affected ascendant will be Libra and the second most affected Ascendant will be Aries, especially if these same houses are prominent in the natives charts as well. Both Aries and Libra Risings will also be additionally affected extra during this time due to their Ascendants being influenced by Rahu or Ketu, especially once Saturn Retrograde moves back into Capricorn and forms a square with the Nodes again.
The influence on Earth and Water risings during this time will be the weakest, since none of the transits activate any planets retrograding in the Saturn ruled house cusps. Fire risings will experience it only slightly more, and that is mostly the aforementioned Aries Rising. Air risings will feel this retrograde the most, as all of them have some of the Saturn produced houses activated.
Ascendant Breakdown and planet and House description:
I ranked the ascendants from the ones, who will feel Saturn's effects the least, to the ones who will feel it the most.
Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces || Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn Risings - None of the Saturn produced houses (6, 8, 10, 12) are activated by additional retrogrades during this time for you. You will feel changes of this Saturn retrograde period the least, and experience the least karmic burdens of all risings.
Leo and Sagittarius Risings will experience additional Saturnian influence in their 10th houses. That may result in pressure put on their endeavours, career, ambitions and aspirations, routine relative to what they want to accomplish during the day.
Leo Risings have Saturn retrograding back from their 7th house ruled by Aquarius to their 6th house in Capricorn, emphasising their daily practical, work related and health struggles, and problem solving skills in addition to 10th house influence. With Saturn making a point directly in their 6th house, health concerns may become a serious theme. The retrograde pressure will require additional effort especially during Mars Retrograde in Taurus in their 10th house, which will be felt from November 2022 till January 2023. However, since Saturn already is moving in a direct motion at the time, even if still in the retrograde cycle, the impact for these risings will be weaker. May nevertheless experience some health concerns, that will force them to rethink their ambitions or their work routine and efficiency, forced to adjust it to their physical well-being.
Sagittarius Risings are getting a stronger influence due to Mercury Retrograde in Virgo affecting their 10th house from September 10th to October 2nd, while Saturn still remains retrograde. Saturn being retrograde in their 2nd house, these risings will experience changes when it comes to their stability and income from their work. Perhaps these risings didn't value themselves enough before and it's time to demand more payment for their services, or speak up to demand a raise. Family issues with authority may also take place. Since Mercury is exalted in Virgo, any changes that these natives experience during this time should be very practically beneficial and lead to an increase in income. Questions of work-family time balance also arise. Perhaps you have been too goal oriented these past few years and need to rethink your ambitions, when some family or house related matters force your attention during this time. Or the fulfilment of ambitions accomplished during this time requires you to re-evaluate and sacrifice the time otherwise spent on your family.
Aquarius Risings are getting impacted strongly by this Saturn retrograde, especially since Saturn will move back into Capricorn in July, affecting their 12th house matters directly. Additionally, Mercury retrograde in Virgo in September/October falls into their 8th house. Jupiter in Pisces retrograde opposing this transit in the 2nd house raises questions of stability and security, both individually and through shared resources and values. This may be an emotionally and spiritually turbulent time for Aquarius Risings, as Saturn retrograde demands a thorough review of very deep subconscious motivations from these natives. If there was anything they were avoiding to transform or change out of, any underlying hidden motivations that were stopping them from pursuing their life path, it will be called into question intensely during this time. From a practical point of view, this transit may feel paralysing. This is an excellent time for a profound spiritual awakening for you. Avoid unhealthy escapism and cultivate real, deep spiritual understanding of yourself and your life. The psychlogical changes you go through now will catapult you forward when Saturn enters back into Aquarius in January, ending this retrograde cycle. You should be able to embrace this time well, Saturn being your ascendant ruler, because it will have a direct impact on the course of your entire life.
Gemini Risings get a bronze medal for being the most affected by Saturn retrograde.
Not only is Saturn going back into Capricorn in their 8th house, but also transit Jupiter retrograde in Pisces July - November will illuminate their 10th house, while Mars retrograde in Taurus will fall in their 12th house.
These natives may experience some turbulent changes in their lives, which will redirect them towards building an active spiritual practice through following their dreams. It is a push out of their comfort zone, as there could have been some considerable stagnancy, perhaps living on an emptier and shallower side of life in a degree of unconsciousness. As cliché as it may sound, these transits combined will push their risings out of all the others the most to re-evaluate the actual meaning of their lives. They may ask themselves fundamental spiritual questions of why they were born, and what is the most complete expression of their soul in this physical life, and what they are actually doing with their life on the material level to be fulfilled. These conclusions may come as a result of certain painful endings in their lives, that could have been dragging behind them for years, resulting in a state of frozen immaturity, that has led to profound losses. The transformative energy of the 8th house is coming back for a final re-evaluation, putting these natives in the trenches of forced transformation. Gemini risings are going to enter 2023 largely reborn, with a newly found feeling of purpose, growing up fast and meeting a lot of new people in the next year.
Aries Risings is the top second ascendant to experience changes in this year's Saturn retrograde.
Rahu is still in their 1st house, causing significant life path improvements, and back to squaring off with Saturn in Capricorn in the 10th house of their life aspirations. That can catapult Aries Risings into a very big progress leap relative to their physical achievements, as the energy of Rahu is very sudden and explosive.
That will be supported especially during Jupiter retrograde in Pisces in their 12th house from July to November, which can bring very expansive opportunities. Aries Risings can make very big leaps forward during this time, as such a boundless Jupiter can even get to their heads. Their ambitions will have an extra guidance to be put into a practical plan with Mercury in Virgo in the 6th house in September and October. To sum it up, Aries Risings can really trailblaze during this time. The planetary alignment gives them a perfect mix of hope, personal drive and willingness to put solid groundwork into what they want. Any changes to come for this Ascendant should be definitely more than welcome, and can take these natives very far. These people will now discover how much they can truly accomplish by themselves, without needing to look back on anyone else.
Libra Risings are the "winners" of this Saturn retrograde period, as they will experience major life overhauls during this time.
Saturn is a yogakaraka planet for this rising, making it a very important energy for Libra ascendants. Saturn retrograde periods will always be prominent and beneficial for this rising.

Jupiter goes retrograde in Pisces in July, activating the 6th house extra for this ascendant. This is the beginning of a profound spiritual problem solving journey. Outer Planet Energies for Week of 21 August to 28 August
A lot of the big aspects from so far in the Venus retrograde ended with the new moon and there's a few new aspects that will be lasting a while. So, a quiet week, but an interesting one in the dwarf planets!
Sedna 0 Gemini 32 to 0 Gemini 33
This is a Martian kind of week! We have a Mars opposition with Neptune, then a trine with Pluto. It’s a week of dissipation and challenge. The threat of addiction and the strength of willpower. But also, from Wednesday there’s a square between Mars in Virgo and Sedna in Gemini that comes in just as the Neptune opposition starts to ebb away.
What I often find with particularly challenging transits is that by the time they hit their apex a sort of natural immunity builds up to them. So, for instance, if a Mars Neptune transit has me indulging in addictions and intrusive thoughts, by the time its power starts to wax I’m already finished with my packet of cigarettes and able to sleep through sheer exhaustion. And that’s where the Sedna-Mars square comes in. Mars is in a problem solving mood, but Sedna just wants a space to complain.
These are both natural responses to a hard time but they can be mutually frustrating. Mars sees in Sedna an energy that refuses to be helped. All Sedna wants to do is complain and think over things. What Mars doesn’t see is that Gemini is mutable and Sedna is doing the work to find a solution. Complaining about it and thinking things through is the whole of the work, it just takes a while. Mars Virgo can’t solve the problems Sedna helps us work though. By the same note - if your problem is that you keep tripping over something, no amount of emotional analysis is better than the good old fashioned Martian impulse to move the thing.
It might be hard to find the right tool for the right task this week but there’s also an opportunity there. Sometimes we spend years working on the emotional and traumatic undercurrents of a task when we need to clean our rooms. Sometimes the reason we’re upset by not having clean socks is more important than cleaning the socks. This square might give us opportunities to switch up tools a bit.
Gonggong 5 Pisces 11 to 5 Pisces 07
The Saturn Gonggong Conjunction is started in April and will end in September and will return December 2023 to February 2024. A big result of the conjunction at least in the UK was a wet summer where plans were cancelled. A lasting effect may be the Antarctic’s shockingly bad year - the Antarctic ice sheets have had their worst year ever, substantially worse than the previous worst year ever of 2022. I know we expect this kind of news but you have to understand sea ice changes slow. The Arctic’s worst year is still 2012.
Of course, you kind of have to ask, worst for who? I'm not trying to justify climate change, it's bad. But one impact of a hotter Antarctic is cooler temperatures elsewhere, which may if we're lucky reduce the strain on other system for a while. It’s complex and we’re doing astrology, not climate change. My reason for mentioning this is that Gonggong and Saturn in Pisces can also bring emotional flooding which is again not pleasant but can release energies we can use elsewhere. For instance, if climate change shocks and appalls you this week, that might encourage you to campaign against it politically in some way.
Haumea 29 Libra 12 to 29 Libra 17
Haumea and Pluto are in similar spaces. They’ve both had an experimental period in a new sign and are now hanging out in the old sign for a bit longer before going into a new sign full time. Pluto is preparing to enter Aquarius, where it spent the age of revolution and social transformation at the end of the 18th century. Haumea is entering Scorpio for the first time since the mid 18th century where it ruled over an expansion in global trade and industry that led to worsening conditions for the working classes, global war, and a massive expansion in the institution of slavery.
Haumea in Scorpio feels oceanic to me because the source of Haumea’s egg-like shape and the weird expansion of the planet is thought to be in part connected to an ancient global subsurface ocean. Haumea in Scorpio feels like it’s offering global expansion to Pluto Aquarius’ interest in what’s off and beyond Earth.
Haumea and Pluto are going to be squared for a long time, the aspect appears at points between 2018 to 2034. That’s with a 3 degree orb. With a more generous orb of 10 degrees - Haumea is squared with Pluto from 2010 and through the whole of the Pluto Aquarius period. From an environmental point of view, this feels like the crisis of living in a society that constitutes personal growth in terms of expansion with an awareness that the planet is not all there is and is, in fact, finite.
This strikes me as really different to Pluto Capricorn and Haumea Libra. Haumea Libra knows what happens when internal pressures for expansion are disbalanced - eruptions and calamity! Pluto Capricorn knows that the world is a hard place and appreciates work and harshness to survive in it. It feels to me like the clash between the need for self care and the fear of poverty.
Eris 25 Aries 10 to 25 Aries 08
The North Node is coming to a conjunction with Eris. This is the first conjunction like this since 2005 and as Eris is in retrograde it will be very close for a very long time. It will go exact at the end of November after weeks of being dramatically close. I use a 3 degree orb and by that measure the conjunction ends on 1 January 2024.
The Eris conjunction offers a chance to hold your own with your desires, trined Lilith in Leo, there’s power behind expressing yourself. It feels like a time when people will want to show up as themselves and maybe won’t be able to compromise on what that looks like. That sounds empowering, it doesn’t necessarily sound harmonious.

September is a “6” Universal Month [9 (September) + 6 (2022) = 15 = 1+5=6] in a “6” universal year. The number 6 is all about striving for balance and harmony and you will see this general energy reflected throughout the month as it heightens the energy of our year. A lot has happened since January: both Mercury and Venus retrograded in Capricorn and Aquarius in conjunction with the planet Pluto, Venus then experienced a rough besiegement between Mars and Saturn in Aquarius, and we’ve been under the constant strain of year two of our Saturn-Uranus square which is being further activated by our lunar nodes in Taurus and Scorpio and our Sun, Mercury, and Venus every time that they transit one of the fixed signs. All of the stop/go push/pull energy that has been accumulating all year long is coming to a head and it is highlighting for us what isn’t working for us anymore so that we can either fix it or move on.
Like back in January, we will have to deal with a tenuous Mercury retrograde from air back into earth which highlights that talking about it isn’t enough – grounded action is in order at this time. Virgo likes to fix things – we can use this to our advantage.
The Set Up
We begin the month with the Sun in Virgo, Mercury in its pre-retrograde shadow in Libra, Venus in Leo, Mars in Gemini, Jupiter retrograde in Aries, Saturn retrograde in Aquarius, Uranus retrograde in Taurus, Neptune retrograde in Pisces, and Pluto retrograde in Capricorn. The big news bears are three-fold. One, the Saturn-Uranus square is deepening towards the point where our two giants will be within one degree of one another later this year. Two, Mercury will retrograde at 08° Libra this month and Mars will enter its shadow at 08° Gemini.
By month’s end, our Sun will be in Libra, and Mercury and Venus will reside in Virgo. All of our other planets will have remained in their respective signs otherwise. Other than the retrograde season shift, there isn’t a lot of other transit activity during the month of September which shows that the lunarly aspects may have greater influence than in some months.
The Details
If September feels flight and untethered, it is almost by design. There are relatively few aspects going on compared to the past few months which will strongly emphasize a few key points. The two main things to watch out for are our upcoming Mercury and Mars retrogrades (Mercury will retrograde this month and Mars at the end of October) and the continual impact that the moon is having on our ever-tightening Saturn-Uranus square. By mid-month, Saturn and Uranus will be within one degree of each other which is going to exert a lot of pressure. This is the same energy we’ve been experiencing for a year and a half now but it won’t release until Scorpio season – expect things to be tense all month long.
There isn’t a lot going on during the first half-week of September. On Thursday 9/1, Mars in Gemini makes a quick sextile to retrograde Jupiter in Aries which could be a quick windfall if you are willing to let it be but we are already being stressed by the moon in Scorpio opposing Uranus in Taurus late Thursday night and squaring off with Saturn early on Friday morning. Whatever it is, we want to do something about it. But wait.
Mars enters its shadow at 08° Gemini on Saturday. This is, in some ways, the Big News Bears of both the month of September and October. Mars will retrograde on 10/30 and will remain in backward motion through the rest of the year. This energy is very similar to that of our Saturn-Uranus square: you can’t get there from here.
This is Right on Time, even if it doesn’t feel this way. Mars retrogrades about every two years and was last retrograde in the fall of 2020 in the sign of Aries. Mars retrograde in Gemini is a reminder to think before you act. Or even, to think AFTER you act. Just think about your actions at all. This will be harder for some than others – perhaps especially hard for Aries and Scorpio types who aren’t on good terms with self-reflection or anybody who has Mars in Gemini in their natal charts.
This is the pre-retrograde shadow which means that we may find that we fall in a few more Marsian holes than normal. These things are our stopping points – the red flags and long nights – watch what comes up for you know and it will almost inevitably repeat itself as Mars retrogrades later this year and then, perhaps for a third time, when Mars is direct during 2023.
The first full week of September may feel liminal and deep. Mercury will be at a complete stand-still all week as our planet of communication and travel prepares to retrograde at 08° Libra on Friday 9/9. Note the recurring numbers here: Mars entering its shadow at 08° Gemini, Mercury retrograding at 08° Libra – though these two personal planets will not fall into aspect with each other during this time – they are both carrying with them some of the 8 energy of the ouroboros – the eternal cycle of repeated lessons throughout our lives. Mercury will be retrograde through the rest of the month (they station direct on 10/02) so keep in mind that everything may run a bit slower during this time. Check your work, proofread thrice, and don’t expect to travel in a straight line (no matter where you are going) – all of the standard Mercury retrograde “warnings” apply.
This energy will lead immediately into a nebulous full moon at 17° Pisces the next day on Saturday 9/10. This will be a great day for Neptunian activities like divination, pathfinding, meditation, or other very esoteric pursuits and not a whole lot else. This is energy better sat with than acted on though Saturn and Uranus may have other things in mind. I expect the energy of the full moon to be somewhat muted by this energy, somewhat deeper.
The energy going forward into the week on 9/12 is just going to deepen from there. On Wednesday, the moon in Taurus meets up with the North Node and retrograde Uranus and squares off with retrograde Saturn – this is the gong bell of the Saturn-Uranus square. We may feel the need to hunker down and get prepared for something – the energy will be intense and downward trending. Stay aware if you are prone to periods of melancholy. The Sun in Virgo will oppose retrograde Neptune in Pisces on Friday 9/16 which may be the nadir of this energy. Venus in Virgo will be squaring off with Mars in Gemini the same day which may direct our already downcast mode towards our others.
Something is coming to a culmination all month. September, being a Number 9 month, is by its nature a month of endings. We will all get a peek at fate on the weekend of 9/17 – the day after Venus and Mars square, Venus will trine the North Node and Mars will sextile Chiron. Two paths are diverging in the woods – if you take the less traveled one, you will be walking the path of the Wanderer (retrograde Mercury, aka Mercury Chthonia) but as always, the choice is up to you.
On Sunday 9/18, the Sun in Virgo trines retrograde Pluto in Capricorn and retrograde Mercury opposes retrograde Jupiter. We will all likely still be very in it but if you have found your path, there is a way forward. Trust the white rabbit.
By now, the energy is getting so deep that it’s almost subterranean. That won’t happen until 9/23 when the Sun and Mercury cross each other at 00° Libra in opposite directions and then Mercury moves backward into the mutable earth sign of Virgo. This is a beautiful actualization of the seasonal energy that we Northern Hemisphere witches and other magical practitioners associate with the turning of the seasons. It is almost as if Mercury is kindly taking our hands and bringing us into the Hallows season.
But then, once you step over the threshold you realize that you were already here. It’s just going to be that kind of month.
Keep your traveling protections on all month if you’re the superstitious type. Take a walk around your neighborhood to remind yourself that every day is a journey. Be in the moment. This astrological weather calls for reverence and awareness. These retrogrades are a gift from the sky gods – you just have to let them be. You just have to breathe with the planets rather than struggle against them.
We’ll be feeling it all month, there’s no way around it. Venus in Virgo opposes Neptune on Saturday 9/24 while the dark moon moves through Virgo. You may not be the same person that you were at the start of September – embrace that. That is the journey.
The new moon at 02° Libra on Sunday 9/26 will be uncharacteristically deep for a Libra lunar event. Though many of us are drawn together during Autumn, we may find a need for solitude that is uncharacteristic for the season. Mercury is still conjunct to the Sun and Moon but they will be out of phase in some way due to their separate signs. We need to go back to the drawing board about something. Somebody might be getting critical. Try to keep egos out of it and let retrograde Mercury do its best work. The Sun and Moon may try to turn the fix-it energy onto their relationships but that isn’t wise unless all members of that relationship are amenable to a great deal of scrutiny and stress.
Monday 9/26 might be the pick of the month. That said, we might all be too exhausted to utilize its energy. Mercury and Venus meet up in Virgo and for a trine to Pluto in Capricorn, and the Sun in Libra opposes retrograde Jupiter in Aries. If you’re willing to let all the chips fall where they may, this is a day to have a good day. If you’re not, proceed with caution.
Mercury makes its second trine to Pluto in Capricorn on Tuesday 9/27 which may feel like a big hit from the fate train. Pluto, our planet of death and transformation, has had an intricate part in all three of Mercury’s retrograde cycles this year. If something comes to the surface from January-February or April-May that you thought was dead and buried, that’s why. Mars in Geminis trine to Saturn the next day shows that even if we want to do something about it, we probably won’t be able to muster the energy to get anywhere.
Out of gas. I don’t even know what that means but somebody needed to hear it.
Getting nowhere fast. By month’s end, September may feel like a blur. You might wonder where your time went or what you were doing. If you have a lot of deadlines for the month, get on them early and try to set a soft deadline of 9/9 (the date of the retrograde) for the first drafts of anything written. Don’t push things and you’ll get there eventually.
