hello everyone!  i’m angel (23, s/h) 👼 and i’m here to bring the most unsuspecting co-captain of jujak’s quidditch team,  a senior who is a magical theory major,  and a part timer caretaker assistant at the greenhouse,  gang yedam!  twt available on request and i’m available in the dms too.
dossier.  🎣
— chelsea born n raised baybe 😎  mom was a seamstress and owned a tailor shop;  dad worked at the nearby bank and co-owned some retro arcades with a childhood friend :-) by all accounts,  a sweet n simple upbringing
— began learning to play go at the age of three with his dad and eventually started attending a baduk academy;  hailed a genius and prodigy p fast because he was showing a lot of talent quite quickly and competed in local competitions and nearby tournaments!  won each one lol and they were mad..... (nicki vc i WIN you LOSE)
— car accident tw  /  lost his parents to bad weather conditions on a trip back from celebrating his mother opening up a new storefront.  yedam was in the backseat but survived after his parents quickly casted protection spells.  momentarily stopped participating in go for after but picked it up again as soon as he was taken in by his mom’s bffie aka his godmother in daegu,  who eventually found him a new academy to enroll in
— little backstory moment rq..... so let’s talk about his godmother + her family a bit?  both of yedam’s parents are magic users,  and his mum met her best friend when they both attended beauxbatons!  beauxbaton’s baddies if u will.. think susannah x laurel from the summer i turned pretty and hari x youngseo from business proposal.  anw they separated after graduating but kept in constant contact over the phone.  paik risa marries a mortal man,  and raises her three kids (1 son, 2 daughters) on a farm that attracts both humans for the freshest harvests and magic users for rare ingredients for potions,  common everyday herbs,  or little magic infused trinkets and tools in rural daegu!  yedam grew up surrounded by magic so he was raised playing quidditch with his cousins,  practiced spells and potion making,  and learned about magical ingredients / the magical world in gen as a kid (both from his own parents and godmother!)
— continued to play locally;  eventually grew to playing internationally as he climbed up ranks (his way of playing and careerwise is heavily inspired by / pulled from choi taek of reply 1988).  during this time he’s attending durmstrang and losing his shit..😁 he’s still competing and flying around for go competitions,  magic helped with cutting down the travel time but didn’t do much for the stress and lack of decompressing,  as well as juggling school and a social life.  something about this also triggers some of his untapped trauma with his parent’s passing.  and it’s also the first time yedam’s been so far from his family.  so he completely blows up in school LOL exhibited huge ‘do not fuck w me’ energy,  was ready to fight anyone who so as much breathed in his direction,  and *squints eyes* from my sparknotes draft bg notes (and i quote) was a “certified fucker bad boy” so u get the gist i hope!  one fight got out tho and he couldn’t girlboss his way out of that one,  resulting in his godmother being called in and finding out whatever else yedam was able to keep quiet and out of her ear.  she’s basically horrified af LMAO and just?? not down to clown about her godson spiraling out of control so she yanked his ass out of durmstrang and began to track down his maternal aunt!  in total,  yedam spent 4 years there.
— plops him into mahoutokoro for the remainder of his years,  because a) it’s close enough by now compared to before,  b) most of his competitions were located in asia with only a handful being in europe,  and c) she knew he needed a fresh start.  he moves in with lee yiseul,  one of the founders and his mom’s older sister,  before leaving and living on campus.  his time at the new school is much more tamed out then before,  where *squints eyes pt2* from my sparknotes draft bg notes (and once again, i quote) starts his “healing himbo” journey!  in total,  yedam spent 3 years there.  ends his time on a high note,  and retires professionally from playing go at age eighteen as a 7-dan.  pulls away from the mortal public eye heavily.  was kind of a :o moment in the comm and caused some stir in the go world;  but he mainly did it to have somewhat of a normal college life lol
— is currently a senior and in his final year at hwando!  whoot whoot 🥳 pretty excited to graduate,  and thankfully his last few semesters at the school isn’t too class heavy so yedam is cruising through pretty content!  magical theory major / charms minor. 🔮🪄  jujak co-captain and keeper.  lived with his aunt for his first year,  in the topaz dorms his second year,  before moving into and remaining in the quarter sharehouse is third and final year.  campus crush and smart himbo vibes.. unfortunately has MAJOR boyfie vibes (a,b,c) but has manwhoreish ways (like he hooks up in empty broom closets :/) so a waste of potential tbh.  flirty and has a lil group of followers (it’s literally just 3 people LOL) called dammies<3.  known for the ragers he throws before and after quidditch season!  has ‘he’s just some guy’ energy to him.  bye guys 🤨😳 hiiii ladies😋😁 type beat.  pulled from sparknotes pt3 but “sounds cringe but is very much The Cool Popular Guy on Campus vibes”.  that was so embarrassing to physically type out so let’s move on!  golden boy <3 it boy <3 tall boy <3 probably a clash with the stuff that blows around town or the bash app abt him (think the beginning clip of mean girls where ppl r talking about regina LOL) but he’s really reallyyy down to earth,  laidback and super chill.  easy to get along with and he mingles well with strangers or people he’s just met!  a muted spark in his eye with a hidden temper to match,  but it appears as frequently as a blue moon.  very social so he’s everywhere a little bit?  doesn’t overthink and has a tendency to be pretty straight forward.  the person you actually DO want in your group project.  part time caretaker assistant at the greenhouse where he does the graveyard shifts;  kills time by getting high and reading / walking around or doing hw.  appears in the bash app often for his ~interesting~ hook up spots or for posting addys to his next party.  young and rich $$$ bc of his go career but is still a local devil lettuce dealer (hit him upppp 4 the best prices around hwando 🤗) for some quick cash.  isn’t really sure what he wants to do after graduating (getting back into go or doing something law related to his aunt’s dept) but he’ll figure it out at some point;  so far just enjoying his final year at school!  ending on a final sparknotes cringe note: “hot nerd bad boy cool guy vibes. so cringe typing that fr” ♡
— wand: (horned serpent horn, apple wood, 8in) / patronus: tiger (bengal) / boggart: car accident tw / the moments right before and after the crash.  frequents: gwangseon forest (the dutchess’ waterfall and griff cove) / city center / the aparecium / observatory / hwabit / convenience store / grand library / quidditch fields.  capricorn sun,  gemini moon,  leo rising.
***
— members in the same sports (regardless of house) as he is?  same majors??  taking the same classes?
— someone wanting to learn go casually and they decide 2 hit him up
— every so often they grab ramen and soju at night, and sneak into the greenhouse / observatory / other locations to decompress and catch up!!
— friends from durmstrang or mahoutokoro!!
— someone who has heard about his interesting stories on the bash app (notably the weird hook up spots LOL) and then ACTUALLY see him irl *insert yedam almost tripping over a carpet* and is just like what the fuck this is that dood
— fwbs??  exes??  former crushes??  people he’s lead on??  unrequited crushes??  vice versa  👁️.....
— people / regulars that hit him up 4 some devil lettuce or stoner friends in gen!!
— people he practices quidditch with the most!! or someone who does / doesn’t play that needs some extra help
— his party ppl whoot whoot
— a person who is trying to network through him bc they like his aunt / want to work in the dept. of law
— someone who hooked up with him at (insert location) and find themselves on the bash app like okay never doing THAT again (unless..? 🤪🙈)
— whoever has a pet PLEASE let him pet sit just once..........or if he can just touch them in gen
literally anything else lol feel free to let me know if there’s anything not on here that might work,  any of ur plots that might click better,  or brainstorming! :~)

MAHOUTOKORO / (EARLY) SIXTH YEAR.
               mahoutokoro school of magic : that was the name given to the japanese wizarding school , located on the topmost point of the volcanic island of minami iwo jima . it was known to be the school with the smallest body of students across the wizarding world , and also the most demanding , selective across the board . it typically accommodated gifted students across asia — majorly from korea , china and japan , of course . it accommodated students like hyerim and yerim — the ito family sisters , also known as the ice princess duo given their cold , d i s t a n t and mysterious stances to most . the school was NEVER the same following the accident that took place within its walls . since the news of hyerim's passing, nothing felt the same — especially to her youngest sibling : Y E R I M .
Tumblr media
               a blood-curdling scream echoed throughout the corridors of the magic school . it was followed by hysterical calls of a student everyone had heard of , but few knew personally . the castle became agitated — even its ghosts had seemingly lost their sense of direction . when located by the school's personnel , the prefects' bathroom looked akin to a brutal crime scene . the once pristine white marble floors were painted in crimson red , with some of this one splashed on nearby sinks and walls . “ n-no . . . please — ” yerim pleads as she clings to the limp figure in her arms , “ stay with me , p-please — ” her pleading would prove to be in v a i n . despite being ripped from yerim's arms and taken to the hospital wing with utmost urgency , hyerim never came back to her senses . “ . . . we are very sorry — ” she needn't hear anything else . her world crumbled right there and then . the carpet had been pulled from under her feet . h y e r i m , her protector , was gone .
Tumblr media
               “ yerim — ” hearing a familiar call of her name despite the hysteria , yerim turns her head to see jia push through the group of teachers surrounding her . she's pulled into firm , reassuring arms as she cries . tears spilling down her cheeks effortlessly one after the other . “ let us through ! ” jia demands , and almost immediately her command is obeyed . no one , besides jia and yerim , know what happened the following days before the school's temporary closure was announced . yerim's face was never seen again within those particular walls , and all form of communication took place through jia , to keep her away from prying eyes and invasive questions . “ you have been sent to hogwarts , in scotland . ” jia informs as she settles down the plate in front of a numb , empty-looking yerim . “ don't worry , i have requested to be transferred with immediate effect . i will be accompanying you to hogwarts . ” though she remained silent , yerim glanced up at jia — who had rather recently become her guardian , protector , mentor . someone she knew , was proven she could trust blindly .
Tumblr media
               in an attempt to socialise yerim back into the school environment , it was recommended that she joined the other students in another location to proceed with her studies before the funeral took place , before every student left for the school they'd been allocated to . “ yerim , wait ! ” she doesn't , not until she feels a firm hand on her arm . yanking her arm back from their hold , yerim's gaze steels over as she looks at the male . he was the year above her , she recognised him — jun . some of her friends had been quite keen on getting to know him since he was on the quidditch team and fairly popular for his looks . “ i'm sorry about what happened . . . you must be feeling — ” jun is cutoff by a cold 'what do you want?' , and it seemingly catches him off guard to have a younger , female student speak to him in such a way . “ . . . i just wanted to give you something . before we all left to go to . . . you're heading to hogwarts , right ? ” he asks , but obtains no answer . instead , yerim continues to look at him . her gaze distant , desperate . desperate to get out of there , to disappear altogether . then she felt it .
Tumblr media
               her eyes widen and her reaction is immediate . her hand raises and she s m a c k s him right across the face , listening to the gasps of students that had seemingly witnessed the scene . before she can push him away , yerim herself is being tugged backwards and then there's commotion . minho?? she doesn't linger long enough to see the end of their apparent fistfight over her — she doesn't care . she doesn't even . . . like men to begin with .

Hello! When stating the world of Hwando was inspired by Harry Potter, does this mean that the storylines presented here are entirely their own or did the events of the novels also occur in this world? As in, did the Wizarding War happen, is Hogwarts a known location, are there other schools in the world, etc.? Thank you!
hello there!
considering that the magic aspects of the roleplay is based on the contents of harry potter and how we have set up the lore, the events in the novels did occur in this lore as well.
the roleplay was created with consideration that the island doesn't currently have any official schooling available for young children through their adolescent years. therefore, other wizarding schools such as hogwarts, ilvermorny, beauxbaton, durmstrang, mahoutokoro, etc that exist in the harry potter verse also exist in this roleplay's lore. this means that muses could have attended any of these schools beforehand and that information can definitely be placed on profiles!
considering the close distance and developed relations with japan, residents on hwangmun are always offered schooling at mahoutokoro. the offer doesn't mean students are obligated to attend but it's a given to make sure that all young witches and wizards have every opportunity they can get to receive education and develop their magic abilities if they haven't chosen to attend a school elsewhere.
on this topic, despite there not being official schooling for young children on the island, we are in the works of putting up more details about hagwon-like centers where children can still be taught how to use their magic if not attending an institute off the island.
lastly, to touch base on the harry potter storyline specifically, the island was founded in the 1990's so this would have been during the timeline of the second wizarding war ( voledmort era ). this is what the island being hidden and growing as a safe haven is surrounded on.
if you have any other questions or want further clarification please feel free to ask!
edit: an additional point we wanted to add in case if there may be any rising concerns, we do want to clarify that although the roleplay is inspired by the work of harry potter, we as individuals of the admod team do not condone or support the author’s beliefs. as a roleplay, we are here to create a safe and inviting space for all members and muses to write and have fun.

is their set up for the hospital wing the same as Hogwarts?
Nope! You can read more about Nagumo (Mahoutokoro) and its basic layout here.
Short answer: The Japanese “castle” includes in its definition the main keep, watchtowers, and castle town. The main keep (the big castle building you’ll see if you search for images of a ‘Japanese castle’) is used as an administrative building that has open areas to host events, meetings, and ceremonies, as well as some offices for administrative staff.
However, in my Nagumo/Mahoutokoro, this main keep is not used for the school’s day-to-day activities; the space simply wasn’t made to accommodate such things. It was mainly a giant defense tower with some living space at the top for the lord of the castle.
The infirmary would be located in a dedicated building (likely an old pharmacy/apothecary) in the castle town surrounding the main keep. The academic buildings are also scattered throughout the castle town.
The setup I would choose is that of a Japanese machiya (a traditional townhouse), pictured below.
Tumblr media
Details under the read more:
The front would look like a store with medicine cabinets (see below) lining the walls, similar to the ones in Spirited Away if you’ve ever seen that movie. Beyond the store space would be an area for examining patients (the green area labeled “reception” would likely be converted for this function) and keeping them overnight, if they need observation. Since much of the space in traditional Japanese houses could be partitioned using the sliding doors, you could narrow or expand the space as necessary.
The wixen doctor (medi-wix?) would live on-premises, in the upstairs living space.
And, if for some reason they needed more space to house students overnight, there are nearby houses that don’t have anyone living in them that can be used (Nagumo owns the entire island, so this wouldn’t be an issue; the businesses in the castle town are simply renting the space).

Have you tried drawing the Wizard in White as a mermaid? That's saying something considering his real name was revealed a few weeks ago... what did you think of it?

"Come seek us where our voices sound --
We cannot sing above the ground.
An hour long you'll have to look
To recover what we took..."
~"Underwater Secrets" from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
x~x~x~x
Ah yes, the Wizard in White -- now officially named Kazuhiro Shiratori, in-game! (I like the name fine, though the meaning of each name -- "harmony" and "swan," respectively -- seem a little odd.) For his tail, I was inspired by the admittedly rather silly-named Hadal Snailfish, not only for its bright white coloring, but because it has been seen in some of the lowest, darkest depths of the ocean in human record. It's even found in the northwest Pacific Ocean, including in the trenches around Japan, where Shiratori's alma mater, Mahoutokoro, is located!
Any HPHM merpeople you want to see from me, for Mermay?

An essay about my headcanon on Wizarding schools + a fanon Wizarding School
KSo... this is my first Harry Potter essay, idk who will like it, idk if it will get buried inside the utter sea of content of Harry Potter, but please, if you read the essay, comment on it, I’m sick of just receiving likes for the sake of it on places like fucking Amino:
So, as the Harry Potter wiki puts it, the Wizarding World doesn’t have many wizarding schools, the eleven oldest, the major ones, are Hogwarts, located on Scotland, Beauxbeatons, French, Durmstrang, Bulgarian, Castelobruxo, Brazillian, Ivelmory, located on the USA, Koldovstoretz, Russian, Mahoutokoro, Japanese, and Uagadoau, Ugandan.
While Hogwarts, Beauxbeatons, Durmstrang and Koldovstorez accept people from the neighbour European countries that do not have a Wizarding School, ALL THE OTHER SCHOOLS HAVE TO ACCEPT PEOPLE FROM ALL THE FUCKING CONTINENT THEY’RE LOCATED. Castelobruxo has to accept people from all South America and the South of Mexico, Ivelmory has to accept people from the USA, Canada, and the North of Mexico, the entire continent of Africa goes to Uagadoau and the entire continent of Asia goes to Mahoutokoro. On the JAPANESE SCHOOL there must be mostly Chinese and Indian students FOR PURE RAW NUMBERS OF POPULATION. Also, Brazil is the ONLY COUNTRY ON SOUTH AMERICA THAT TALKS PORTUGUESE, FORCING ALL THE SPANISH SPEAKERS FROM THE REST OF SOUTH AMERICA TO HAVE TO LEARN PORTUGESE IF THEY WANT TO FUCKING STUDY MAGIC.
A minor example that really grinds my gears due to a personal beef: I’m from Spain. Spain, in the Wizarding World, has to send their wizards to Beauxbeatons. Thus, any muggle-born Spaniard that really can’t learn magic by other means has to either learn French or just not learn magic, with the dangers that the prospect implies. And the same prospect applies to non-Ugandan African muggleborn wizards or any non-Japanese Asian student. They either learn their language or get fucked.
Rowling established that other minor schools exist, but they are poorly-regulated, not register on their respective Ministry of Magic and other stuff, but death of the author is all the rage these days, and as the fandom knows, Harry Potter was a colaborate work from Hatsune Miku and Daniel Radcliffe, and thus, I will SAY my own headcanon:
Minor schools exist, they are good schools and they are registered on the Ministry. The thing is that the major schools are usually more recognized due to the sheer number of years they have existed and the traditions.
One of these... FANON minor schools is HyS, the Spaniard most famous minor Wizarding School. HyS also has a system of houses, trying to imitate Hogwarts’s success. The houses are Fire, Air, Water and Earth, something basic. HyS was founded on 1939, when Francisco Franco, the muggle dictator that had come to power in that era, closed the country, and forced the Spanish Ministry of Magic to close the Wizarding Spain as well. Of course, children born during that period, that lasted until the 60s, couldn’t really go to France to attend school, and much less when the muggle World War II and the Wizarding Grindelward conflict blew up, so a few powerful wizards, focused on the inherited need to educate their people, founded, with the beneplacit of the Ministry of Magic, HyS, Honor y Sinceridad (Honour and Sincerity). Since Franco tried too hard to control the Wizarding World, HyS became the center of revolutionary ideas and the opposition to the regime.
And that’s my essay. What do you think of it? Please, reblog it and give some feedback!

hello just learned that the magic school in japan for Harry Potter (Mahoutokoro) literally means “Magic Place.”
like literally. Mahou = magic, wizard, witch, etc. Tokoro = Place, location.
That…sure is a name!

⧼   kentaro sakaguchi, non binary, he & they   /   star man by david bowie + WILDERNESS EXPLORER. a man who has always felt more at home under the open sky than in a bed surrounded by four walls and a roof. never tied down, always free to move from one location to another. who has found a way to combine his love of wand making with his love of nature, traveling the world to better understand the materials that go into each of his creations. who wears a wide smile across his face as he walks barefoot through a forest, his hand running across the bark of every tree. he stops to inspect every tree and every plant, taking note of them in his journal. MIMOSA PUDICA - THE SENSITIVE PLANT. a curiosity of nature. not unlike our wand maker, quick to detect or respond to changes around him, closing it’s leaves at the slightest touch. his first instinct has always been to protect himself. but as he’s grown, his sensitive nature has taken another form: empathy. no longer considered with protecting himself, focused only on those around him- plants and animals alike. A WANDMAKER. he’s devoted his life to his craft. there’s a story behind each wand he makes, starting with the initial vision. it’s then transferred to paper, drawn over and over until he’s satisfied. the margins full of details, from type of wand to the core. and then comes the creation, the longest step. once he’s started on a wand, he won’t stop until it’s complete.   ⧽   ━━   hey, isn’t that HAYASHI KENJI? i read a daily prophet article on them, once ; the THIRTY year old half blood WIZARD is a MAHOUTOKORO alumnus who has gone on to be a WANDMAKER. i’ve heard they can be quite INDIVIDUALISTIC & PASSIONATE, but i don’t know… they came off very ABSENT-MINDED & NAIVE in that interview. it really is hard to know what to believe these days though, isn’t it?

RELATIONSHIPS
Tanaka Hiroto: Naru’s father. He was an infamous Dark wizard that terrorized the East Asian wizarding world for multiple years, as he was expelled at the age of 17 from Mahoutokoro for being discovered to practice the Dark Arts. Hiroto hid his identity and lived as Tanaka Minato in Tokyo until his wife, Kirika, discovered his true identity. She, an employee of the Japanese Ministry of Magic, revealed to the Ministry that she knew Tanaka Hiroto’s location, which culminated in a duel of epic proportions between Hiroto and the Ministry that resulted in his death. Naru was only three years old at the time, and has no recollection of his father. However, Hiroto has still managed to act as a dark cloud hanging over his son for most of Naru’s life.
Genji Kirika: Naru’s mother. Unfortunately, he and his mother maintained a very strained relationship for a good portion of his life, despite, deep down, both loving the other very much. Once Naru began attending Mahoutokoro at the age of seven, he was often resentful that he felt ostracized and lonely because the other children were scared of him from hearing about his father’s reign of terror. It was a frustration that he often took out with his mother to find someone to blame, and what with her job at the Ministry and Naru spending more and more time at Mahoutokoro as the years progressed, they simply didn’t see each other enough to heal their fractured relationship--one that simply soured further as Naru grew up into a stereotypical rebellious teen. When Naru was nearly fifteen, Kirika was tragically murdered by another wizard practicing Dark Arts, and leaving too much unsaid between them became Naru’s greatest regret.
Genji Sara: Naru’s aunt. After his father’s death, his aunt moved away from Japan, across the world to London, England, where she began working for the British Ministry of Magic. Naru, consequently, didn’t remember meeting her at all until he met her again after his mother’s abrupt death led to Sara being his only living relative and, consequently, legal guardian. Because Sara lived in England, Naru was forced to do as she had and move across the world from Tokyo to London, which also meant his transfer from Mahoutokoro to Hogwarts. The two didn’t get along very well at first, which can be attributed to Naru--it was only after his first year at Hogwarts that he came to terms with his mother’s death and began the process of trying to move on, and let himself start to grow close to his aunt and grieve with her. By the time he was seventeen, Naru and his aunt had a very good relationship.
Yamashita Shotaro: Naru’s rival. At Mahoutokoro, Shotaro was typically the instigator of conversations involving Naru’s relation to the infamous Tanaka Hiroto, which inevitably led to them consistently conflicting over the years. Shotaro was another reason it was particularly difficult for Naru to make any good friends, because he tended to scare people off with mentions of Naru’s ties to Dark magic.
Rival: Yamashita Shotaro (Mahoutokoro)
Enemy: TBA
Dormmates: TBA
Pets: Adzuki, his aunt’s bull mastiff. Growing up, Naru was never allowed pets, but moving to England taught him that he loves dogs.
Closest Canon Friends: N/A
Closest MC Friends: TBA
~~~~~
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Pre-Mahoutokoro: Naru was born in Tokyo, Japan, to Tanaka Hiroto and, at the time, Tanaka Kirika. He was a quiet child, and certainly a mother’s boy when he was young--obviously, this was especially true after his father was exposed as a Dark wizard and killed when Naru was three. Only four more years passed, mostly cheerful ones during which he and his mother were quite close and happy, until he began attending Mahoutokoro at the age of seven.
1st Year: Naru began attending Mahoutokoro, and quickly discovered that he did not really like school. Once people learned his surname, he felt as though students began going out of their way to avoid him, finding him suddenly ‘creepy.’ It was a lot for a seven-year-old to handle, and impacted him negatively.
2nd Year: Much of the same events as the first year, though this was the year Naru was nipped by a giant storm petrel on his hand, a wound that scarred over. Furthermore, it was the year he was revealed to be a Parselmouth, the rumored sign of a Dark wizard. The year was also the beginning of the decline of his extremely close relationship with his mother.
3rd Year: The first year Naru finally began to make some friends, as children matured and realized it was an unfair judgement to compare Naru to his father immediately. His school life began not being completely horrible.
4th Year: Naru began Quidditch training, something Mahoutokoro was incredibly serious about. He was only ten years old, but had been recognized for talent, and trained over the stormy waters in pelting rain to join the team in two years. Being scouted for Quidditch also increased his social standing.
5th Year: Naru’s first year boarding at Mahoutokoro, which meant an absurd amount of training for his first year in Quidditch next year and a lot more conflict with his usual antagonist, Shotaro. For eleven-year-olds, they got into trouble quite often.
6th Year: His first year on the official school Quidditch team, as the new Mahoutokoro Seeker, which somehow led to even more training than he’d been doing originally. Subsequently, as Quidditch was his main focus--something the school supported--Naru didn’t get the best grades, which caused some issues with his mother at home.
7th Year: The ten-year anniversary of his father’s death, and weirdly, his all-time high of social standing. Being amazing at Quidditch, a very serious topic in Japan, had earned him more friends than his actual personality. The more people Naru had to interact with daily, though, the less comfortable he got, as his father was still something people brought up regularly and he was learning that too many people at once could be a bit overwhelming for him.
8th Year: Another uncomfortable year of being well-known at school--being liked for Quidditch and being gawked at because of the identity of his father. Unbeknownst to Naru, it would be his last year at Mahoutokoro. At the very end of the school year, just after Naru came home, his mother was tragically murdered, and he had to move to London to live with his aunt, which meant his transfer to Hogwarts.
Pre-Hogwarts: Naru spent the remainder of his 8th year summer in London with his aunt, mostly ignoring her attempts to get to know him better and talk about Kirika’s death.
5th Year: Naru began his first year at Hogwarts having to integrate into a student body that had been growing and forming friendships among themselves for five years, as well as being only semi-fluent in English and having to learn it as he progressed through the schoolyear. He was sorted into Slytherin House and tried out for the Quidditch team as soon as he could, becoming the Slytherin Seeker. His only relief was Quidditch, as well as the knowledge that very few people at Hogwarts knew anything about his father.
6th Year: TBA
7th Year: TBA
After Hogwarts: TBA
~~~~~
PERSONALITY
Impulsive: Naru isn’t one to plan, and is very prone to spur-of-the-moment decisions that don’t always end the best for him. In fact, his impulsivity got him into trouble pretty regularly at both Mahoutokoro and Hogwarts, and with his guardians.
Caring: Although he’s arguably obtuse and slightly emotionally stunted, Naru’s capacity for love is enormous, and he cares an immeasurable amount for the people he loves. Although he’s bad at showing his affection through words, he tries to show it through gestures such as taking care of something that had been bothering someone, or buying someone a gift, or cooking someone a meal.
Protective: Naru also developed very protective tendencies that only grew stronger after his mother’s death, and he would do anything to prevent the death of another loved one. He tries not to limit anyone’s freedom with this trait, but it does mean he’s very often on guard and keeping an eye out to make sure everything is in order and everyone is safe, and rarely relaxes.
Observant: Naru is particularly good at noticing things; moreso than most. He pays attention to small details, and treats insignificant things as though they are important. This typically means he’s quite good at deducing things about people based on body language, or spotting a hidden door, or something tucked away in a corner. It also means he pays quite close attention to his friends and family--for example, noticing a friend prefers a specific flavor of pastry, and making sure there’s always some left for them.
Secretive: It’s not that Naru actively keeps many secrets, but he also likes to keep things to himself, especially when he’s concerned people might judge or dislike him for revealing anything. He’s a tough shell to crack.
~~~~~
MISC
Naru wants to move back to Japan someday, but he’s not sure if he’ll ever leave England
he absolutely loves dogs, something he only learned after meeting his aunt’s bull mastiff, Adzuki
Naru was sorted into Slytherin based off of his cunning, not his ambition--he’s not the most ambitious, or proactive
he never loses his Japanese accent, but his English does significantly improve during his time at Hogwarts, mostly from help from his British friends
in London, at home with his aunt, they speak Japanese, so Adzuki’s commands are all in Japanese
when asked about what Mahoutokoro is like by Hogwarts students, Naru will often make up completely fake facts about it to confuse them
“We don’t have any Quidditch coaches, we learn from storm petrels. That’s why we keep winning the Cup.”
Naru became an Auror after Hogwarts to chase down Dark wizards and officially leave his father’s legacy behind
at fifteen, he received an inheritance from his father in the form of his wand
Naru is unable to produce a Patronus using any memories from Japan, because the only ones potentially powerful enough were with his mother
You know what I think? I think that the notion of there being only a handful of magical schools in the world is just elitism. Like in America there are only a few Ivy League schools, but there are hundreds of other perfectly good schools. So Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, Castelobruxo, Ilvermorny, Mahoutokoro, all of them may be the oldest and the fanciest schools, but they are definitely not the only ones.
Taking this thought further, it’s canon that these schools keep mad secrets from each other right? Like outside of a certain culture you may not even know where that school is physically located. So what if the other schools are even more secretive, or more localized?
Anyway I love the idea of each school being different and teaching magic that matches with the local color. Native American schools being big on magical creatures and using magic to live more sustainably. Schools in India and China dig into their rich magical history, which turns out witches and wizards and wix that are thoughtful and wise in their actions. Maybe there are schools in Indonesia that are looking for ways that magic can combat earthquakes and tsunamis. Maybe there are schools in Russia that have been dedicated to reducing nuclear contamination for decades now. I just love the idea that outside these showy, all-encompassing schools, away from bigotry and race wars, there are places that really focus on using magic to improve the world for everyone.
Mahoutokoro Headcanon: #9: Living Quarters: (Dormitory and Baths)
Mahoutokoro Living quarters are traditional Japanese style. From time to time Chinese and Korean influence has been observed in the redecoration style.
Male Dormitory
Every house (or Kazoku) has one Male Dormitory. The Dormitory is bare and minimalistic, covered with Tatami mats and has two sliding doors on the opposite sides (either East-West or North-South) that open to two long corridors. The Dormitory is usually a long room that some-time can range up to 20 feet in length. This long room is segregated by several sliding panels that make different compartments for a different class of boys. Each compartment is liberally equipped with futon, pillows, blankets and all the things required to stay the night in. The Male head of the Family sleeps at a compartment adjacent near the Family’s boy’s dorm and his duty is also to serve as Warden.
Boys are required to sleep in a specific way. Their heads must face the doors opening at the corridor and a small path must be left in the middle so that if someone wants to use the toilet they do not trade on anyone. Bringing food in sleeping quarters are strictly forbidden.
If anyone wishes to study late, prior permission must be granted, and they will have to retire in the spare lounge at the other end of the dormitory. All-nighters are often seen in exam seasons or during school festival. There can be maximum seven late-study permit a month per student.
All this arrangement is held within a single ‘’cottage”. Japanese Castle rarely has multifloored system, and it is only with the case of something very important. The Cottage of the Danshi (boys) are connected with the other part of the castle with corridors and bridges.
Each Male Dormitory has a name
Kekkain family is called Kagami (Fire God)
Hideyoshi is called Ryonnosuke (Noble Dragon)
Matsuyama is called Haruki (Life of Spring)
Nobuyuki is called Osamu (discipline)
Yonomori is called Yasuke (Great assistance: named after a Black samurai)
Tumblr media
Courtyard of Boys Dormitory
Female Dormitory
The female dormitory accommodates exactly the same way the male dormitory, only there are some architectural adjustments. The Cottage of Female Dormitory is situated on top of a moat, amidst the water. When all it’s occupants are housed, the bridges that connect the cottage with the castle disappear and the cottage becomes an island of its own. Unless an occupant of the inside wishes to go out, the bridges won’t open. This was a clever device created by Yonomori to keep out the men from entering women’s quarters.
Every dormitory compound, male or female has a garden of their own. That means there are ten different house gardens that are taken care of by the students alone. Each of them has a different variety: for example Kekkain dorm gardens are famous for their red pine and maple, Hideyoshi dorms are known for their fragrant camelias, Yonomori gardens grow the best Devil’s snare, Matsuyama gardens are famous for medicinal plants and Nobuyuki gardens are famous for plum blossoms.
The names of the Female dormitories are:
Kekkain (Amaterasu: Sun Goddess)
Yonomori,(Aratani: Gem)
Nobuyuki: (Ren: Lotus, symbol of eternal learning)
Hideyoshi, (Tatsuko: Dragon Child)
Matsuyama (Nagi: Calm)
Tumblr media
The Connecting bridge between Girls Dormitory and other part of the castle: the cottage is surrounded by moat.
Outhouse and Bathhouse
As per the rules of traditional Japanese homes, baths are taken in open spring and toilets are situated outside the premises as well. Every dormitory has their own outhouse inside the cottage for excretion and for washing clothes. Modern facilities were introduced in 1980′s but the outhouses (now known as the bathroom) didn’t change entirely from it’s traditional setup: small wooden tubs, wooden reservoirs, and other traditional outhouse utensils co-exist with the modern equivalent of commode, flushes and cubicles.
Although the Spirit Akaname is in charge of cleanliness in the outhouses, they don’t wash the clothes worn by human. Students wash their own clothes and each dormitory has their own pond reserved for washing clothes. As the Washing Machine that requires electricity cannot be run within the campus, old fashioned scrubbing is required for washing clothes. Students can bring any utensils or objects required for cleaning from their home, but the school also stocks plenty in the Dormitory Reserve. Clothes can be washed any time of the day but since the beginning of the school, there has been an unspoken rule that the clothe-washing are done in the day off, as the activity itself has been observed as a socializing mechanism.
Despite having different outhouses, Mahoutokoro has only two bathhouses or Ofuro.  These Ofuro are actually Onsen of Hot spring, that are enriched with 25 (multiple of Five) minerals. When the school was being made, Nobuyuki emphasised that the family baths should be separated, but Kekkain and Hideyoshi voted it out. The Onsen/ofuro are one for boys (danshi) and one for girls (joshi). One onsen is large enough to accommodate 100 people. It is a house neutral territory, and anyone can take a bath in these within appropriate time. The Bath or Onsen are the places to socialise and catch up with the people outside the house. This also encourages inter-family harmony and peace. The Onsens are located at the center of the castle, a position sacred to Matsuyama, who developed many healing recipes that will revitalise anyone who takes a dip in the water.
Tumblr media
There are several etiquette that are observed during taking bath
1. Anyone who steps into the water must shower right before entering the water and must be clean.
2. The head must not touch the water, neither any bathing suit or towel.
3. No teasing, bullying or staring in the bathhouse. If anyone does any one of these, they will be punished by the spirits of the Onsen.
4. Nudity is mandatory.
5. No one can stay in the water for more than an hour.
The Onsens are located under open sky, and as Japanese are night-bathers, the view is simply magnificent. The Onsen is accompanied with a shower-room, which must be used before entering the bath. The shower room follows the common bathing etiquette of Japan: social distancing while cleaning oneself, sitting while taking showers to avoid splashing etc. The shampoo, conditioners and soaps provided there change their scent according to season: in Spring they are cherry blossom scented, in the later autumn they smell more fruity and intense etc.
Note
Along with the thread of comments pertaining to Rowans School, where is the school located?
thats a rly good question . . . i honestly wouldnt know
we know that hogwarts is located in highlands of scotland, and theres another magic school in north europe called durmstrang, and another in france called beauxbatons. basically i think that would be enough magic schools in europe ?? so i would say the school should definitely be somewhere thats not europe.
maybe somewhere in asia ?? its a big continent and they only have two wizarding schools — mahoutokoro ( japan, east asia) and koldovstoretz ( russia, which means this one could be located in eastern europe or northern asia ). i say india could be a good place bc from there we can cover the southern parts of asia.
if anyone has any suggestions / ideas feel free to add on !!
A Dangerous Game - Chapter 2 (Theseus Scamander x OC series)
Tumblr media
Prologue, Chapter 1
Summary: When Victoire McKinnon, one of the wizarding world's most proficient curse-breakers, is asked to assist and protect the Ministry of Magic's Auror Department in their crusade against Grindelwald, she finds herself stuck working with the extremely annoying, exceptionally good looking Theseus Scamander.
Warnings: swearing, mentions of violence, fighting, and blood, 2,213 words
..........
Victoire had been hired by Gringotts to work as a curse breaker immediately after the conclusion of her seventh year at Hogwarts. Her summer had been spent doing introductory work in the crypts and mausoleums in Egypt. It had been hot and physically taxing, but her best friend Anthea Barrows had also been hired, so it had been relatively pleasant.
However, after a few weeks, the goblins overseeing the site were thoroughly impressed by her abilities and leadership, and decided to transfer her to a more advanced mission at the Mahoutokoro School in Japan. Top curse breaker Elihu Castor had been assigned to break into a cursed shrine and retrieve a valuable jade statue - Victoire was more than thrilled to help.
Of course, when it came down to the mission itself, the two of them misread a series of runes and set off a series of deadly curses. Luckily, Victoire’s quick thinking and proficiency in protection charms saved both of their lives and the statue. It only took them two more weeks to locate and retrieve the rest of the set of statues.
News of their success quickly reached the wizarding world, and since then, Victoire was widely regarded as one of the top curse breakers alive (despite her young age). Now, her time was mostly divided between field work in Japan and Uganda, where she taught several courses part-time at the Uagadou School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
In short, very little of Victoire’s time was ever spent in Europe. She did, however, own a very small apartment in London for when she needed to travel home. It consisted of a bedroom, a combined kitchen and eating area, and a bathroom; space (or lack thereof) wasn’t really an issue.
Her apartment was located on the top floor of the building, and there was a large skylight above her bed. The walls were adorned with hanging plants and maps, and the floors were covered in homemade rugs she had received as gifts. The small space was smothered in memories of her travels and achievements, and she adored it.
It was just past seven in the morning. She had been woken up by the infuriating beeping of her alarm clock, and was now trying to work up the motivation to leave the comfy duvet-cocoon she had wrapped around herself.
She finally kicked her legs over the side of the bed, cringing when they made contact with the cold floor. She stood up slowly, stretching her arms over her head and yawning softly.
Victoire trudged into the kitchen, opening the refrigerator and grabbing a container of mealworms and eggs. The eggs went on the countertop next to the stove for breakfast, and the mealworms went in the beak of the hungry owl bouncing around on the island.
“You’re up rather early,” she cooed, opening the container and putting a handful of worms in a small dish. The small tawny owl chirped happily, bouncing over to his breakfast as Victoire set the bowl down.
Short-Snout had been a present from her parents on her eighteenth birthday. The small owl had been affectionately named after her favorite species of dragon, and had accompanied her on all her curse-breaking adventures so far.
She turned to the stove, cracking two eggs into a pan and whisking them around a bit before turning on the front burner and setting the pan down. It only took a few minutes for the eggs to cook through, and she slid them onto a plate before walking back into her bedroom.
She shoved a forkful of eggs into her mouth and set the plate down on the chest at the foot of her bed. She then turned to her closet, throwing on some loose black pants and a grey turtleneck.
Torquil Travers had given her a folder containing information on all of the missing wizards. She flipped the light green folder open and sat down on her bed, reaching for another bite of scrambled eggs. She’d been familiarizing herself with the information since yesterday afternoon, making note of all the possible reasons for their disappearances.
She could not deny the anxiety that was beginning to bubble within her. Of course she was fully capable of doing this job, and doing it well, but it was her partner she was concerned about. While she was fairly confident she could deal with his negative and annoying attitude (she did have two older brothers who acted quite similarly), she didn’t want it to have a negative effect on her performance. She had a pristine reputation in the eyes of both Gringotts and the Ministry of Magic, and she didn’t want Theseus Scamander to ruin that.
~~~~~
It was almost nine o’clock by the time Victoire reached the door of Theseus’s office. It had stopped raining sometime during the night, but London’s skies were still covered in a thick layer of gray clouds. In her opinion, this was perfect walking weather, and she was rather annoyed she would be spending the better part of the day so far underground.
She took a deep breath and knocked on the door, praying Theseus would be more willing to work with her today than he was yesterday.
“Come in.”
She pushed the door open slowly, peering into the rather refined looking room. It was rather intimidating looking, with dark mahogany furniture and bookshelves lining the walls.
“Well don’t just stand there,” Theseus said dryly. She glared at him pointedly, stepping into the office and closing the door behind her.
“Good morning to you, too, Mr. Scamander,” Victoire replied sarcastically, setting her bag down on the ground. She sat down in a rather comfy maroon chair in the corner of the room, putting as much space between her and Theseus as possible in the small space.
An uncomfortable silence fell upon the room, and Victoire squirmed in her seat a little. Theseus was currently preoccupied reading a lengthy looking document, loosely holding a quill in his hand and occasionally scratching  notes onto the parchment. She drummed her fingers on her leg lightly, growing rather impatient.
After what seemed like ages, Theseus straightened out the set of papers and set it off to the side of his desk.
“How are you today, Miss McKinnon?” he asked, finally looking up at Victoire with a cocky grin on his face.
“I’m alright, and you?” she said curtly.
“I’m doing quite well, thank you for asking,” he replied, still grinning.
“I’ve read through the files Travers gave me quite extensively,” she began, reaching to pull her folder out of her bag, “and I think I adequately understand each case. Which one will we be starting with, may I ask?” She opened the folder and looked up at him with an inquisitive expression.
Theseus bit his bottom lip thoughtfully, leaning back in his chair to open a drawer at the bottom of his desk. He pulled out a similar looking green folder and leafed through its contents quickly, pulling out a few sheets of paper and placing them in front of him.
“Travers wants us to sort out the Chester Street case first, since it's the oldest one to date,” he said, closing the drawer and pulling his chair closer to the desk. Victoire nodded, pulling a similar looking sheet out of her own folder.
“I’ve already come up with several possible explanations for this one in particular, but until we can visit the house itself, I won’t be able to know for sure,” she stated.
A few months ago, someone had reported a group of people congregating outside 16 Chester Street, a home that had been abandoned for several decades. Some of the descriptions provided matched those of wanted dark wizards, so Travers had sent three of his top Aurors to arrest the party on a count of trespassing.
Pembroke Mallow, Roger Grouse, and Louis Sullivan had not returned that day, or the next day, or the day after that. Further investigation found no traces of them or their targets in the house, though reportedly it seemed clear some sort of struggle had taken place.
“Travers has already given us permission to conduct investigations independently, so that won’t be a problem,” Theseus replied.
“Great, when can we go, then?” she inquired. Theseus looked at his watch.
“Honestly, I’m not really doing anything else today. We could probably go right now if we wanted,” he said.
“Oh, cool,” Victoire grinned. “Are there any, like, forms we need to fill out? I’m pretty unfamiliar with Ministry protocol for these kinds of things,” she admitted.
“We already have written permission to visit, but if we find anything of importance I can do the paperwork,” he responded.
“Well, thank you,” Victoire replied, smiling genuinely. Theseus nodded and looked back down at the papers on his desk.
“Will you really be able to figure out what happened just by looking at the house?” he asked, somewhat skeptical. Victoire gave him a confused look.
“I mean, probably,” she replied slowly, “that’s literally my whole job.”
“And what is that, exactly?”
“You go somewhere and you figure out what happened, what spells were cast, what enchantments are on the place, and then you undo them if you can,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest defensively. “Is that not what this is?”
“I mean, to an extent, but right now we're talking about saving human lives, not pieces of ancient pottery,” Theseus remarked.
“First of all, the basic procedure is essentially the same. Second, those pieces of ancient pottery offer valuable insight into the lives of past civilizations,” Victoire retorted, growing rather irritated.
“No, they offer funds for whatever organization asked you to find them in the first place,” Theseus said, standing up and grabbing his jacket off the back of his chair.
“That’s not even a valid argument- where are you going?” she asked, her aggravation evident in her voice by this point.
“Chester Street,” he replied simply. “Will you be accompanying me?”
Victoire grumbled, reaching for her jacket as she stood up to grab his outstretched arm. She was thoroughly regretting her decision to accept this position as Theseus apparated them away.
~~~~~
It was clear the house had been abandoned for quite some time, with pieces of siding falling off and smashed in windows. It was rather austere looking, not too large or too small, and not remotely unique or exciting looking. Still, Victoire was on high alert as Theseus led the way to the front door.
The grass from the lawn had turned into thick weeds and shrubs that had overtaken what used to be the walkway. She easily made her way up the rotting front steps, with most of her professional experience being in structures that were falling apart somehow.
Theseus quickly opened the front door, cringing a little when it creaked loudly.
“The whole house is quite messy, since no one’s lived here for quite some time,” Theseus said as she walked through the doorway, “but the most turned over area is the study to your left.”
Victoire nodded, still mad and not really wanting to talk to him unless necessary.
“That’s where they think the fighting happened,” Theseus added, closing the door behind them and pulling his wand out of his jacket.
He cast a quick lighting charm as he led them into the study, with her inhaling sharply as she took in the scene before her.
All the furniture was turned over. Chairs and books and trinkets looked like they had been thrown across the room, and the carpet had somehow been pushed into the corner. The hardwood floor was covered in burn marks and shattered glass.
“There’s blood over here,” Theseus observed, walking over to a flipped over desk and bending over to inspect it more closely.
“It certainly looks like a fight happened,” Victoire said softly, gaze falling on the curtains that looked like they had been ripped off their rod.
She had begun to paint a picture in her head of what the fight might have looked like - someone trying to grab onto the curtains while another person dragged them across the room, someone else tearing books off the shelves and hurling them at an attacker. As she looked around, her eyes were drawn to a light blue vase standing upright on the floor in the middle of the room. Odd, considering the rest of the room looked like the aftermath of a tornado.
It seemed Theseus had also caught sight of the vase.
“How is this standing up?” he asked incredulously, reaching down to pick it up.
“Don't touch it!” she shouted, jabbing her wand in his direction. Theseus flew backwards, back hitting the wall with a loud thud.
“Ouch,” he said, grimacing as he slowly stood back up. He gave her a pointed glare as he rubbed the back of his neck
“Sorry,” she said meekly, “but we really shouldn’t touch anything, considering we don’t know what caused those Aurors to disappear.”
“Good point,” Theseus admitted reluctantly. “I’m sure in your line of work touching things can result in imminent peril.” Victoire nodded, crouching down to inspect the vase more closely.
“Isn’t it weird that in the middle of all this fighting this vase is still standing upright?” she said aloud.
“It definitely wasn’t thrown, it would’ve broken when it hit the floor,” Theseus commented, crouching down next to her.
“It’s like some put it here.” She grabbed a pen from her pocket and reached out to tap the vase lightly.
Both of them gasped as the pen vanished from Victoire’s grip. Theseus looked at the vase, then her, then back at the vase.
“What the fuck was that?” he exclaimed, standing up and backing away from the vase.
“I think it’s a vanishing spell,” Victoire muttered.
“They enchanted the vase with a vanishing spell?” Theseus asked. She nodded.
“But this is very advanced magic, I mean it’s hard enough to vanish a mouse, let alone three people,” Victoire said, flicking her wand over the vase in an intricate pattern. She nudged the vase with the corner of her sleeve and, satisfied with her jacket not disappearing from sight, picked it up.
“Are there any wizards associated with Grindelwald who could perform this level of magic?” she asked, turning around to face Theseus.
“Other than Grindelwald himself, I have no idea,” he said honestly. “Do you think this is what did it?”
“Did what?”
“Made those Aurors disappear,” he clarified, gesturing to the vase in your hands.
“Yea, I think so,” Victoire stated. “I hope I’m wrong.”
“Why?” Theseus asked, brows knitting together in confusion. “You figured it out, you’re not happy about that?”
“Theseus, if I’m right, that means we’re dealing with an extremely dangerous wizard,” Victoire stated dryly. “Furthermore, I have absolutely no clue how to un-vanish those wizards.”
“Well, what happens when you vanish something?” he asked genuinely.
“If I remember my transfiguration professor correctly, vanished objects enter a state of nonbeing,” she replied.
“What does that even mean?” Theseus groaned, rubbing the sides of his temples in frustration and messing up his already messy hair.
“I genuinely have no clue,” she said. “I think the best thing to do would be to bring the vase back to Travers and have someone sweep the area for any more objects with vanishing enchantments.”
“And then what?”
“Perhaps we could start looking at the other cases, and I’ll do some research about vanishing spells in the meantime.”
~~~~~
Victoire was once again sitting in the cushioned maroon armchair in the corner of Theseus’s office. Theseus was sitting at his desk filling out several forms about their discoveries. The vase had been entrusted to Travers.
In her lap was a large reference book of spells. She’d been pouring over it for the last hour or so, jotting down any spells that could possibly reverse the vanishing spell on a human. So far, she’d had relatively little success.
“Have you found anything interesting?” Theseus asked, setting his quill down and flexing his hand.
“The vanishing spell, evanesco, can be used to vanish animate and inanimate objects, gets more difficult to perform as the target gets more complex,” she stated, reading off her notes.
“So it would be incredibly hard to vanish a person?” Theseus asked.
“Yes, I believe so,” she replied.
“Any information on how to undo it yet?”
“Nope.”
“Fantastic,” Theseus replied sarcastically, resting his forehead on the top of his desk.
“Hey, on the bright side, we now have a good idea of what happened to those Aurors,” Victoire offered. Theseus rolled his eyes.
“And now I’m going to have to tell their families that we know what happened to them but we don’t know how to undo it, which is not going to be fun,” he retorted. Victoire frowned.
“At least they’ll have some sort of closure for the time being,” she countered, “which is better than what they’ve had up to now.”
“How do you plan on figuring this out?” Theseus asked, gesturing to your book, his head still planted firmly on his desk.
“I was going to apparate to Uagadou after this, since they have a really large library section about the history and mechanics of spells. I’ll probably be able to find some information there,” she said. “Then I was going to write to some of my colleagues and see if they have any experiences with this kind of thing.”
“I’m sure many Curse-Breakers have un-vanished people,” Theseus said flatly.
“No, but I’m sure someone has retrieved an object with a vanishing spell on it at some point, meaning there has to be a way of retrieving said object from non-being,” she replied.
“So you’re telling me that during your highly acclaimed career, you’ve never encountered a vanishing spell?” Theseus said, sitting up and cracking his neck.
“Mister Scamander, the majority of my job has been centered in Japan, where wizards traditionally hid artifacts of significant value or importance in elaborate webs of magic-based traps and devices,” she said, closing her book rather loudly for emphatic effect.
“So…”
“So no, I have not encountered vanishing spells thus far,” Victoire stated. She glared at Theseus, who was grinning with satisfaction.
“I see I’ve hit a nerve,” he replied cockily.
“Listen, I understand you have little respect for my line of work, but you can’t deny it requires at least some advanced magical ability unless you want to get yourself killed, so if you could quit alluding to the fact that I’m inept somehow I’d greatly appreciate it,” she fumed, sliding the book in her bag and standing up.
“Miss McKinnon-”
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” she interjected coldly, more than happy to slam the door on her way out.

A/N: Folks, it has taken me a whole heck ton of time to start writing again. I had a lot fo writer's block these past few months (school is overwhelming, lots to do, etc.), BUT currently I am on coronacation and with a little encouragement from @littleyellowladybugg , I have decided to start trying to write again. I currently am writing the next two chapters for this series (which is amazing I'm never on top of anything), and I'm gonna try to post every Thursday - hence, Thursday's will now be "Theseus Thursdays," which I think is pretty darn clever. Anyways, I really hope you like this, like/reblog/comment/follow if you want, message me or somethin’ if ya wanna be tagged, and have a marvelous day :)
