Paramont rebooted their Star Trek movie franchise on May 8, 2009. The reboot didn't ignore the previous Trek TV shows and movies, but was set up as an alternate universe version known as the Kelvin Universe. The two universes were bridged and explained by Leonard Nimoy who cameod as his character Spock from the original universe or "Spock Prime". To date the Kelvin universe was made up of 3 movies Star Trek (2009), Into Darkness (2013), and Beyond (2016). The principal characters were recast as James T Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood), Bones (Karl Urban), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Sulu (John Cho) and Chekov (Anton Yelchin). J.J. Abrams who oversaw the Star Trek franchise reboot also headed up the first non-Lucas written Star War's trilogy. (Star Trek, Movie Event)

WARNING SCOTT PILGRIM TAKES OFF SPOILERS
Tumblr media
U have been warned so...
Aaaa I binged watch the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime in one day instead of doing college homework lol. I have no one to talk to about the Scott Pilgrim anime 😭 so here i info dumping and ranting it.
I read comics and watched the movie in highschool and i also played the game on my Switch. Gosh it's an amazing adaptation and it reference all of them in the anime. Also, the anime feels like a what if or alternate universe imo. I feel like it's better to watch the live action or read the graphic novel or played the video game first imo to understand the easter eggs and references.
Bcs I am so happy that Anamanaguchi came back from the Scott Pigrim game and aaaa there was the game soundtrack in the anime.
Also the ending and the plotline of Ramona being more responsible and facing her exes reminds me of Ramona's ending in the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World video game. So I'm happy the anime took this route
Things I love in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off ❤️:
The animation and music ❤️❤️❤️
Scott and Ramona realize their mistakes in their past love relationships
Scott and Ramona dynamic is more cuter imo
Scene of Ramona dying her hair
League of Evil Exes interactions aka Gordon and Luke being besties
The unexpected character dynamics, for example, I didn't expect one sided Todd x Wallace 👀
Gayer scenes ( More Wallace and More Roxie)
So many Lucas Lee (He's my fav also I am a Chris Evans so I am bias)
Love how meta and self referential the anime is bcs they reference the original source and other adaptations
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost cameo
The Director Edgar Wright aka Edgar Wrong spoof
Epilogue and Side character developments basically the exes having good endings like Matthew Patel's musical career and Buff barista Lucas
Is the Musical a sign that we might get a Scott Pilgrim musical???
Sparks✨️✨️✨️
Things I wish was in the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off aka me being nitpicking sorry 😭
Hoping that Todd moves on from Wallace bcs the Wallace Heart tattoo is a red flag
Surprised there was no Wallace and Lucas interactions or Wallace's crush on Lucas scenes like the original
No Stephen's boyfriend, Joseph 😭 orStephen Stills being gay scene
Was hoping for a timeskip that Kim and Knives (as a college student) became a couple. Love the duet they had tho❤️
Hopefully there is a season 2 or spin-off perhaps. Overall, I am very satisfied and I would love to rewatch Scott Pilgrim Takes Off over and over again. I love it❤️❤️❤️ Sorry for the long rant. I have no one to talk to about it

Looking at Disney's Star Wars Sequel Trilogy after such a long time feels bizarre.
I remember feeling so utterly insulted at the opening line of The Force Awakens. The whole "shitty prequels" push in the media. Like TFA is such a product of a 10 years long popularised over-critical outlook and all the garbage that made George Lucas sell to Disney in the first place. I mean I understand if you don't like the prequels, it's not like they are Citizen Kane. But neither was the OT...
Overall I enjoyed TFA despite JJ and Simon Pegg whose Prequel Bashing is hilarious since he's in the worst ST movie ever. Oh, he didn't like having that pointed out lmao.
Anyway, I remember feeling excited to see where the story would go now they got their nostalgia hook out of the way. The Knights of Ren were an interesting concept, the Snoke speculation was fun, BB-8 was cute, Poe was hot, Finn had a great character setup and Rey felt intriguing. And then Disney went the opposite extreme with The Last Jedi.
"Let the past die, kill it if you have to."
Or whatever the quote was, I haven't seen TFA nor TLJ since they were released to be honest, because why would I?
Like seriously, in the most generation and nostalgia driven franchise?? You want to erase the past? And so on the nose? Oh boy... TLJ is such a pretty looking movie but it felt so, so empty... It's the first movie I ever wanted to walk out off, it felt so damn long, as a woman I felt appalled by the female characters' writing and worst of all it killed my love for Star Wars for years.
Clone Wars returning? Didn't care. Mandalorian? Didn't care also Taika directing immediate pass but that's a separate issue. Bad Batch? Didn't care. Boba getting a show? Didn't care.
And The Rise of Skywalker? Still haven't watched and will never watch it.
It was so weird. First I got attacked for liking the Prequels, then you got attacked for not liking Disney's Grand Vision. And what a vision it was when they apparently couldn't even stick to it. Who would have thought you shouldn't play round robin with Star Wars?
What annoyed me most was the argument to "go watch the movie again! You will like it then! I did after watching it for the nth time!" Why would I ever spend money on something again I disliked immensely?
Do I need to go anywhere near what happened to the characters? YMMV but Poe bad needs to be taught dumb lessons by women with superiority complex, Finn and Rose comedy side quest, Rey the Mary Sue. I'm not even gonna touch what circus the First Order and Kylo became. Let alone what happened to Luke Skywalker...
I barely even remember the release of TROS. Like I saw what I thought were memes and then it turned out to be actual lines. I remember the Rey Skywalker thing coming out pretty early, and thinking what bullshit is this. Anecdotal but when I talked with my co-workers at the time and even they disliked it so much despite always defending the Sequels, it was odd.
But weirdest of all was the Prequels starting to get love. I get that my generation is like all over social media now but even those who don't like the films are kinda mellowed towards them? People started missing George for fucks sake after all the BS he got. It's so, so ironic.
Now Disney Wars is the Big Bad and on one hand its sad to see the repeat of the Prequel Bashing x100 with the Sequel Trilogy thanks to SM monetization but on the other hand my generation is finally getting our due. They gave us Hayden Christensen back proper that tells you all you need...

FC Meme (feel free to do any, all or none of these lol) - Simon Pegg, Thandiwe Newton, Owen Wilson, Donnie Wahlberg, Sigourney Weaver, Uma Thurman
Okay I'm doing all of these in one post, view them all under the cut!
Graham Gilbert, 48-53, unlabeled sexuality. Graham has always been a happy fellow, with not one mean bone in his body. As a kid he used to dream about getting superpowers and becoming a hero, given the matching G names (Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, etc) but alas he was never so lucky. Instead he turned to books, a wonderful avenue for his imagination. While he was never talented enough to write books of his own, he's worked at the biggest library in town for years and is more than content there. Every Saturday morning he does readings for children, in which he puts on voices and acts stuff out. The parents love it.
Tumblr media
Nilah Calderon, age ???, sexuality ???. Nilah is an extremely private person and holds her personal information close. She was kidnapped as a child, taken away from her parents, and thrust into a life of uncertainty. Thankfully she was never sold on the black market or anything heinous like that. No, instead she was used as a pawn, both to reach places that the adults could not get to and to satiate the crime bosses wife's desire for a child. She played her part well and was set free from her duties once she reached adulthood. They granted her the choice to stay working with them and she opted to start fresh in a new city, though she does maintain contact with them. Now an art historian and a single mother to a son, Nilah keeps to herself and just wants a semblance of normalcy.
Tumblr media
Lucas 'Luke' Jones, mid forties to early fifties, bisexual. Luke was never the most interesting guy in the room, and he was never bothered by that. In fact, he kind of enjoyed that? He picked the wildest, most energetic people to be friends with, and played his part as the quiet, supportive friend. And it always worked out well for him. People liked his calm energy; they liked that he could mold to any situation. That meant that life was never boring. He's a romantic at heart and always dreamed about finding the perfect person to spend his quiet evenings with. Even at his age he has not given up hope that his person is out there. He works as a bank manager and often finds joy in monotonous tasks.
Tumblr media
Clay Hutchinson, early fifties, heterosexual. Clay grew up with a lot of responsibility placed on his shoulders. He was the first born child in the family, and the oldest of three, so he was always expected to be mature and keep his siblings Neve & August in line. Additionally, he was expected by his father to join his medical practice and become a surgeon. Clay never wanted that, always aching for show business. He loved to perform and would often entertain his siblings with his shenanigans. Ultimately he caved to his family's pressure and works alongside his father. He knows he missed his chance for fame, so he makes the most of the life he has now.
Tumblr media
Alice Dumont, early seventies, unlabeled sexuality. In her youth Alice was one of the most talented assassins the agency had ever seen. She was calculated and ruthless, and never disobeyed orders. There wasn't one job she couldn't complete. Alice loved her work and took pride in her abilities. As the years passed she struggled to accept that her aging body wasn't as capable anymore, and that carrying out missions wouldn't be possible forever. Thankfully the Mountebanks didn't expel her once she aged out. Instead they offered her a position higher up in their ranks. Now she teaches the next generation, training the young girls in her care to be better than she was.
Tumblr media
Renee Wagnar, early fifties, bisexual. As a young girl Renee dreamed about music. Her life was entrenched with it too. Her mother was a pianist and music teacher, and needless to say she passed down her talents to her daughter. Her dream was to dance ballet professionally. When she met Gabe they bonded immediately over their passion for music. She thought they would be happy together. And they were for many years. Money was tight and they knew they needed to make changes to support their growing family. So they both switched careers, with Renee becoming a corporate lawyer. Slowly distance grew between the couple. Eventually Gabe snapped and realized he wanted to make good on his dream; Renee didn't see it that way. She 'sold out' and enjoyed the esteem she now had in her career. They share custody of their children post divorce and are on amicable terms.

On December 18, 2015 The Force Awakens was released, which was the first theatrical Star Wars film not to be based on a story by George Lucas. The events in the film took place 30 years after the events in Return of the Jedi. Between the gap, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) had started a new Jedi Accademy but then went into exile when he pushed Princess Leia's (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo's (Harrison Ford) son Ben Solo/Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to the Dark Side. Han Solo, unable to deal with the loss of his son, went back into space with Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew). Princess Leia kept herself busy with C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), Admiral Ackbar (Tim Rose & Erik Bauersfeld) Nien Nund (Mike Quinn) and the Rebellion fighting against the First Order, which was the replacement of the Empire and lead by the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis). Besides Kylo Ren, Snoke was served by Emperial officers like General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). The instalment introduced new recurring characters such as desert orphan Rey (Daisy Ridley), rogue Imperial soldier Finn (John Boyega), X-Wing pilots Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Snap Wexley (Greg Grunberg), rebel officer Lt Connix (Billie Lourd) and underworld contact Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o). There were also cameos by Max von Sydow, Simon Pegg, Warwick Davis, Harriet Walter, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Daniel Craig. The action mainly took place at Jakku, Takodana, D'Qar, Hosnian, Star Killer Base, and Ach-To. Harrison Ford finally got his wish of Han Solo being killed off. The film was praised for returning to a dirty looking universe and use of practical effects, but criticized by the plot following too closely to Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope. ("Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens", Star Wars Film Event)
