Resting on the balcony, Lilith gazed upon the candlelit city of Featherfall. Smoke shrouded them from the first rays of dawn, but allowed the light of the procession to carry on as they visited the cemeteries of the city. Even if there was no one alive to remember them, no stone or place of remembrance went without candles, flowers, food, and drink.
“That was quite a tale you spun.”
A sideways grin crept across her face. “You should be resting.”
Holding a mug of tea, Cedric padded across the balcony, giving her a quick hug and kiss on the head before joining her viewing. “You know, out of everyone there, you were the only one that truly lied.”
“Yeah?”
“For one, it would be an impossibility unless you were the age you are now.”
She forced a laugh. “Well…that story isn’t exactly an honourable one.”
He hesitated. “We’ve discussed this before. The reasons for your actions are understandable.”
“I know, I know. Because ‘I was only human’, right?”
A smile. “All living beings are prone to mistakes, flawed decisions, and poor judgement. You and I are no different.”
After a pause, she wrapped her arms around him. “You’re one to talk.”
Another kiss was placed upon her hair as he returned the hug. “‘Practice what you preach’?”
“Mr. Insecure,” she joked, sticking her tongue out.
Their focus returned to the city in mourning.
“...This was a great idea. For everyone. The living and the dead.”
“It was. My apprentice is quite reliable.”
“Were they all able to move on?”
His lips pursed. “Most. Some fled, thus they remain.”
“What of Eulalia?”
“She was one of the ones who fled.”
A light breeze brushed past them.
“It will take quite a lot to put her soul at ease.”
“...That girl can’t even find peace in death. Do you think this event might help?”
“It might.”
Candles flickered as crowds fell into prayer.
“Both the duration of her life and the end of it were horrendous. She has every right to feel angry because of it.”
“But she’s not the only one here that’s lived and died under miserable circumstances.”
“She is not. And her misguided fury tortures her even now.”
Lilith frowned. “That’s so sad.”
“It is.” Another kiss. “I’ll continue searching for a way to let her rest. Even she deserves peace. And, her peace will bring the same to others as well.”
“I’ll be right by your side every step of the way.”
He nuzzled against her. “Thank you.”
When Cedric was stable enough, the two set out across the city. In a much less populated area, the alumni from before, as well as a few other kind citizens, were paying their respects to an ofrenda built by the mouth of the river.
Mounted at the top were hand-drawn interpretations of a smiling teenage girl with long, thin braids resting over her delicate shoulders.

anyway ages ago i saw a shitpost including the raw line “she loved you more than anyone else did and you killed her for it” and that still lives rent free in my brain too
#she didn't accept it with open arms--i believe the Canon mentioned she succeeded in 'grievously wounding' him before cain killed her#she fought back and she lost#but the way that she still loved the other three even as she stood against them#it was the middle of the dark ages and war and she still showed so much faith in abel esp#'it's never too late to start again' coming from her esp is......so much--#if given the chance i can't imagine her ever withholding her hand from seth either#much less if she were willing to look at cain and hold trust in him#also yes it was seth that injected him with the crusnik#but as head of the entire medical division#i can't imagine she was just removed from seeing cain's last moments or 01's first moments--or it having an effect upon her#;nightingale sings her song of farewell (headcanon; lilith)

and we're back with another edition of thisisnotthenerd's d20 stats. this time we're talking character races. mechanically. they are not all italian.
most common character races
a couple of things:
the chart displays the character races as they present within their individual seasons. this is not always reflective of their mechanical races, which is what i'm using to evaluate. if you go into the spreadsheet and look at the notes, you'll see the mechanical race for each character.
some characters are not counted because they do not have an accurate equivalent, e.g. the creepy co-eds and the prefrontal p.i.s. the magical misfits are because i don't know that you can get more variant human than what they have going on.
obviously there are repeats in the chart. those are not counted in the totals.
at the top, as most would expect from d20, is variant human, with 40 characters. this tracks for several reasons; it's a fairly solid race that allows you to start with a feat and tool proficiencies and focuses asis rather than spreading them around. the other reason is that it's used as the base for most characters in most seasons that don't fit the dnd standard races, i.e. tiny heist, a crown of candy, mice & murder, and the ravening war.
next up is actually harengon with 6, though it might not look like it from the chart. that's because all of the stoats from burrow's end are using harengon stats with the addition of at will primal savagery and claw/bite attacks. it's a solid build that fits well for this season, but makes the rabbit comments from the top of the season funnier.
next up is half-elves, with 4 characters: fabian seacaster, danielle barkstock, misty moore, and agnes. mechanically, those marked as faeries are half-elves. they are marked as faerie to distinguish them from fairies, who are also on this list a little later on.
in fourth place is tieflings, with 3 characters: fig faeth, magfelda/maggie, and gertrude. two fo them sit in the same seat in back to back seasons. tied with them are half-orcs: gorgug thistlespring, katja cleaver, and sokhbarr, who is another reskin, much like the faerie characters.
tied for fifth with two each are: bugbear (marcid the typhoon & k.p. hob), drow (lilith (as a reskin) & andhera), changeling (rick diggins & binx choppley), high elf (adaine abernant & efink murderdeath), kalashtar (pete conlan & riva), kenku (chirp & squak), ratfolk [different types] (kugrash & jack brakkow), vampire (squing & may wong), and warforged (car-go jones & pinocchio)
and with one each we have:

there were a total of 34 pc races used over the course of dimension 20.
now for the fun part, beyond the numbers:
commentary
a lot of this won't make sense without the notes. if you're interested in reading through this, i'd suggest at least a cursory look.
most of the pc races used on dimension 20 do actually have a standardized background (or two or more) in dnd. generally they stick to the same variants most of the time, usually the ones that grant the best versions of racial abilities. even the reskins have a solid background: kashai->half-orc, faerie->half-elf, the usage of kalashtar stats for pete, frogman->hobgoblin, cat->tabaxi, puppet->warforged, rick diggins as a changeling clicko man. they make sense and make sure that characters have a balance of racial traits.
however there are a few that don't have a standard. some of them only show up in the bestiaries. some are straight up homebrewed or borrowed from 'unofficial' sources. i pieced them together based on wiki info and what i could find on each of these.
drider: from what i found, drider isn't currently playable. i suspect they combined drider traits from the bestiaries and drow/dark elf stats to make lilith. it gives her a bunch of really cool abilities.
ratfolk: this one was tough, because murph and matt used different sources to make their rat-men. murph's likely comes from kobold press, wherein ratfolk are small, with 25 ft of movement, rodent empathy, darkvision, and poison resistance. hell, kug might still be a reflavored dwarf. i don't think so, because he doesn't use any of the racial abilities that would make him a dwarf as opposed to ratfolk, but who knows. matt's comes from adamant entertainment's ratkin, whose ratfolk are medium, humanoid rats, with 30 ft of movement, low light vision, immunity to disease, and proficiency with bite attacks. matt specifically references ratkin during pirates of leviathan, so i'm fairly confident that that's what jack is.
cyborg: gunnie is a base human, but has a lot of cybernetic replacements and so has a few extras that come with it. he gets an additional +1 to any skill, at the expense of augmentation side effects i.e. vulnerability to ion damage. this is a combination of sw 5e's cybernetic augmentation rules with the sw 5e human.
cerebroslug: norman is a base human in sw 5e. that part is easy. i'm pretty sure that cerebroslugs were a homebrew creation based on existing starstruck lore and zac's character pitch. i had to go back and watch a few episodes of starstruck to figure out what he's using, because it sure as hell is not on the wiki. body thief is the one named ability that i can recall. if a creature is incapacitated, the cerebroslug can enter its body start running it. if not incapacitated, the cerebroslug cannot attempt to overpower their vessel. other racial traits allow the cerebroslug to a) retain it's own mental statistics while using the vessel's physical statistics, b) run the body by using piloting statistics, e.g. making piloting checks to run the body upon waking. with enough successes, they stop being required. cerebroslugs are sensitive to cold--they are ejected from their vessel if 20 points of cold damage are dealt to them. they must succeed on a dc 15 con saving throw or be paralyzed upon ejection. i really hope this is actually written down somewhere and isn't just me hallucinating after hours of rewatching starstruck.
owlbear: this was simpler: rue is an awakened owlbear as opposed to a standard owlbear. the adaptations: innate savagery. ancestric physiology, natural instincts, and clumsy are the noted racial traits.
stoat: they're actually harengons as noted previously. they also have the cantrip primal savagery that they can cast at will in order to up the damage of their claw/bite attacks. these stoats are literally built different.

The Ultimate OC Showdown Tournament has begun!
This was inspired by a lot of the tournaments in @competition-list including @transfemswagbracket @nonbiney-swag-competition @best-fnaf-character @autismswagsummit @robot-swag-competition @mad-scientist-showdown @adhdswagcompetition as well as the OC tournament done by @oc-cinematic-universe! I have over 600 of these guys, so it's finally time to figure out who the OC of all time is!
You do not need to know who they are to vote!
Their brackets will include a brief bio (one sentence), a link to their Toyhouse page, and an image! But also you can just vote on vibes, anything works! I just want to have a good time!
This post will be updated with each bracket and an updated bracket illustration each time! Polls will run for one week, and for this first round Part A and Part B will go up on Saturday and Sunday respectively! I hope we can all have a good time!

First it was a random kiss, today is Chewsday. Surely Lilith knows what the means !! You already kissed the angel silly, today you're getting bitten. It's nothing volatile by any means, no. Actually, this had started with Lute taking the Queen's hand in one of her own gloved ones, hidden talons closing delicately around skin that was soon brought to black-lipstick painted lips in a little kiss. The bite ?
Well, that came in the form of Lute's maw parting in a smile; followed her motions for fangs to catch silken fabric and skin beneath, sliding the glove from the hand it was originally covering. That clawed grip shifts now to open the Queen's bare palm, an affectionate kiss pressed into it.

Oh for FUCK SAKES! As she towered over the small nightingale, she expected to be bitten. Her eyes squinted, simply waiting—
Waiting to see what would happen if she chose to gnaw on facial features.
That is until she relaxed her facial expression and looked down at the unexpected, loving gesture. A kiss, a drag of silk down the arm with the beak, as if attempting to attract the vampiric woman.
Paused for a moment before releasing a delightful little giggle at the final touch of her lip against her hand.
" Why....I feel you can retain the strips of flesh linked to you today, tiny birdie. "
The now smooched palm would linger forward, grabbing the soft as feathers cheek with a caressing stroke. Whether it was true or not, at least it was provided!

Hallow
Rattling brought the candles to a tremble, then rocked the entire room. A few of the alumni gasped as they peered around frantically.
Holding himself together, John tapped on Cherry’s shoulder. “Hey. Could you, uh, hold onto this for me?”
“Huh, why?”
He presented a small slip of paper with writing foreign to them both. “I, uh…I’m afraid of tearing it. My hands are shaking. See?”
“Oh, I do see!” She firmly held the paper in her fingers. “Okay! I’ll be really careful with it! Promise!”
“Thanks. And…I forgot. What was your name again? I'm John Isaac De Cartes.”
“Nice to meet you! I’m Cherry! Cherry Price!”
“Nice to meet you too.”
Cedric quickly lifted his candle and released a puff, casting the claustrophobic room in darkness. Then, he laced a beaded necklace around his hands and began chanting a different string of words—a language that only Hestia (and to some degree, Lilith and Maggie) was familiar with.
The very ground itself felt as though it was rumbling. Banging upon the paper walls erupted from every angle, nearly drowning out the voice of the witch heading them all. Candles began toppling, sending the alumni to cling onto one another for balance and comfort as the sudden chill of the room crawled up their spines.
Cedric’s voice grew louder. Combatting it again was the sound of paper tearing as decayed fingers mercilessly clawed through. The moans of vengeful dead poured through the fresh tears.
As they were warned prior to the evening, the group all held onto their screams for dear life.
“Those are the last humans!” Eulalia cried behind the bloodthirsty horde. “Stop them and bring them to the plaza!”
Cedric’s face tightened as his chant sped up. Without breaking the circle, Clarissa jumped up and clasped a hand over Alina’s mouth as an arm burst through the wall and grasped for her. Decayed, blood-shot eyes peaked through the holes as more fingers scratched and shredded the thin paper barrier.
Eulalia emitted a pained growl. “Enough! Silence the witch!”
The smell of decay and stray flame permeated the freezing air. The assault on the walls didn’t cease in the slightest, but grew even more desperate behind Cedric. Sweat beaded on his face.
Without a word, Lilith signaled to Maggie, and they both placed a hand over his ears.
“Stop!” Eulalia commanded in a strained scream. “Stop this at once!”

cain clearly, immediately shows both the assuredness to lead and have others follow but also the cleverness to have those who follow him do as he desires them to; abel was shown with that temper and spite and yet the willingness to put his foot down and to enforce is needed in the head of security; seth is likewise shown to be extremely clever and intelligent and logical during her arc and to very quickly draw the correct conclusions with only a handful of clues befitting the head of science and research
is it any wonder lilith was the odd one out, the one that always sought to defend and protect and care for others, the one that left the three she loved so in order to protect those innocent for a life is still worth protecting whether they were on mars or not--her, the head of the medical and healthcare department
