8 x 10 incline sit ups

3 x 10 pec machine

3 x 10 lat raise

3 x 10 low row

45 minute spin class

3 x 10 cable row

3 x 10 cable press

worked lifeguard job 6 hours

the gym workers received Hershey kisses

quiet day at work. a few swimmers and worked on some cleaning duties

top left = only 1 swimmer in the teaching pool. he is slightly out of the picture

middle = the large pool in the water park is being repaired and the contractor is supposed to finish in a couple of weeks. looks like a lot of work left to me

bottom = after work, i attended a meeting to prepare for working at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association softball tournament tomorrow afternoon. i will be directing cars in one of the parking lots

NSV = a compliment from my supervisor. she said i am always on point and help to keep her thinking about what we need to do next

it was fun writing the last Jason Todd imagine so… picture this

Lifeguard Jason Todd in that (slutty) tank top, arms defined and muscles on display. Whistle on a band around his arm. His hair ruffled as the curls sway gently in the wind.

Lifeguard Jason Todd who’s good with kids and gently reminds them to walk in the pool area. He would hold the hand of the little girl who desperately want to play with her friends in the pool but is too scared to take the first step into the water alone.

Lifeguard Jason Todd who has the eyes of a damn hawk and spots anyone who needs his help. He’ll jump straight into action if he’s needed, no hesitation. Someone struggling to keep afloat, he’s there. Someone lost their goggles underwater, he’ll get them.

Lifeguard Jason Todd who notices you sunbathing on the side of the pool and admittedly gets a little distracted watching you. He’ll try his best not to look because he doesn’t want to be a creep but you’re so pretty lying there in the sun.

Y’all just imagine him as a Lifeguard. I would die actually. Death by pretty boy.

Hey.

Look at me.

I've been a lifeguard for four years now. And when we see someone drowning, or having a seizure, or bleeding on the ground, we don't say things like: "That's hardly any water!"

or: "But they were swimming so fast yesterday!"

or: "I wouldn't be drowning in that situation."

We get them out of the water, whether it's two inches or twenty feet. And we try to help, because that is our job. Maybe they're just learning how to swim. Maybe they're a wonderful swimmer and got sick or hurt. Maybe they're just having a bad day, and that's okay.

Swimmers, literal and metaphorical: please take care of yourselves. Don't tell yourself you aren't drowning because you aren't in the Mariana Trench. You're allowed to need help sometimes. You're allowed to ask for help.

And if a lifeguard ever makes fun of you for needing their help... that's not your fault. They're just not doing the job right.
