I need minimum five other people to read Needful Things by Stephen King right now so we can talk about it. This book qualifies as a comedy if you're mean enough

#Stephenking Monday! And this time, we're talking about one of my favorite novels: #Needfulthings. Join me as we dissect this tale of grudges and greed, and when we're done, let me know... WHAT is your Needful thing?
(Oh, yeah, also like, share, comment and subscribe!)

This is a side blog of @sewer-ratz-did for myself.
My name is Leland Gaunt (as you may have noticed).
I am a Protector for my system and a fictive from the book "Needful Thing" written by Stephen King.
Interactions of many kinds are welcomed wholeheartedly as I am trying to be more social, I suppose.
I most likely will not be making many posts here of my own but instead will be interacting with others through this account as I find it important to improve with skills I have yet to perfect.

the whole “the devil is a well-turned-out man with power in a community but an odd, wolfish glint in his eye” thing is such a cliche. and yet

We have this strange itching kind of need to talk to people, but we need something to talk about. Honestly, our life is not interesting, and our thoughts are typically "scary," so we do not have organic things to just speak of.
But we get insanely lonely when not talking to people, so we tend to just depend on the other person to start the conversation, but it seems they never do.

Lol Whenever I read something by Stephen King, I end up having a crush on the villain. Leland Gaunt, Andrew Linoge (well, storm of the century isn't a novel but screenplay was written by king). Am i the only one?

I have this masochistic urge to make a dummy blog. It would be entirely generic in persona and I would use it to do nothing but make random inane comments on various posts.
The fun comes from giving it a bio with the most confusing combination of pro-/anti- tags that can be configured by mankind and waiting to see what kinds of amgry anons I got
Understand this wouldn't be about actually being pro- or anti- anything, but about seeing users try to read me from my bio and not knowing what to do with "anti-ship pro-endo minor-friendly kin dni 18+ only pro-vegan anti-syscourse" etc etc
But, as is clearly seen by my vague grasping at tags there, I don't have anything close to the right combo to do a little trolling
My social experiments are stymied by laziness and it's everyone's fault but mine 8|

I know that Leland Gaunt is definitely a folkloric devil but I feel like he gets a pass for his bisexual father figure slay

Theatrical trailer
Welcome to Castle Rock, Maine, a lovely place to live... if you don’t mind selling your soul!
Sheriff Alan Pangborn (Ed Harris) has a devil of a problem: Suddenly all the residents of his sleepy little town are dying…to kill each other. But at least business is still booming, especially at a new antique store. The shop’s mysterious owner, Leland Gaunt (Max von Sydow), has something for everyone, and his prices are always reasonable: just one small favor…oh, and, of course, eternal damnation!
Pre-order Needful Things.

Hmmm.... started one of the ways/lenses that I look at fiction as an illustration.
Tumblr media
And I'm not not sure I like it. It seems wrong now that I've gotten that far. It's missing something or misorganized or I just don't have the right words on the Plot side.
The problem is definitely mostly on the right for me. I don't like these labels. They're not 100% WRONG but they ain't right either.
Though I'm never sure quite how to list a Character's charge on the left either. That list is just how I first heard it and it's not quite correct as a list. It's a multidimensional chart really.
Motivations | Driving + | Retreating - |
Conscious | Want | Fear |
Unconscious | Need | Wound |
AND there's an obnoxiously difficult to depict third dimension. Unconscious is equal to or greater than Conscious, while the entire point of the Driving vs Retreating is that they're almost but not quite equal. So how I draw that...
And it looks way too much like a battery instead of a magnet.
I didn't get around to field lines yet :/
Just not satisfied with it :/ Darn right dissatisfied :/ Hmmmph. It has also called my attention away from what I intended to be working on at the moment. Sigh. :p I SHOULD be working on what I actually would like to be done tomorrow :p Phhhbbbbttt. Darn you executive dysfunction.
[Insert Gif of Leland Gaunt, played by Max Von Sydow, in Needful Things declaring that this is "not my best work."]
