Day 9 - Japan Blog - 15 February 2024 Legoland and Shinkansen to Kyoto Today is theme park day!! It was going to be Legoland and Shinkansen Museum but we decided to just do Legoland annnndddd it was a super let down. I wouldn’t go there again, or recommend it to anyone … I’ve been to the one Legoland in San Diego and I thought that one was “meh” but this was really bad. The mini land/world (I can’t remember what it was called) was cool… and the Lego City was good and the service was amazing. But yeah, big meh. The food at Legoland sucked brick. Like … actual. I was dying to try the Lego Chips because, well LOOK AT THEM! SO CUTE! But -- Not only did it taste like cardboard, but it also made me sick. So, yeah. That takes me Legoland rating to a 2/10. 😔

We had to catch the train to Kyoto and it was raining so we thought to get a taxi instead of rushing … then the taxi was SO SLOW (we could have walked…) which stressed me out, overwhelmed me, and I ended up having a vulnerable moment on the train which ended up with me having a chronic illness flare and I had to nap and take it easy for the afternoon and evening.

However, I decided that it was going to be easy street tonight -- we went to Ichiran for dinner and that makes me happy. I love our hotel. I usually stay at the Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo. Its close enough to Gion that you only need to catch one train... and its right in the middle of Kawaramachi Street. The room has a SHOWER ROOM which is the main reason I wanted to stay in this hotel again and I found out there is a "lounge" on the 6th floor with free soft drink!! Amazing.

What's so cool about AICHI? (愛知県)

Aichi is a prefecture near the coast, and the capital is called Nagoya, the fourth-largest city in Japan. Known for their beautiful castles, history, and Japan's own Legoland Resort!

The most famous castle (Pictured above) is Nagoya Castle, which is right by the Honmaru Palace. Visitors are encouraged to check out the website, HERE

A couple celebrities are from Aichi too! If you're familiar with some of the more underground Nintendo DS games, you may have heard of Toshio Iwai, who made the game (it's closer to an art piece, honestly) "ELECTROPLANKTON" (Pictured below)

Another famous person is Jasmine You, part of the Visual Kei group "Versailles". Sadly, he passed away due to health complications in 2009, but his style is very unique, and should be remembered as a star in the Visual Kei industry.

What's your favourite movie you saw in theatres this year? Only movie I saw in theaters' 2022 was Black Adam :/ very mid movie. I can't remember any movies I watched last year damn.

LEGOLand Part 2

Evidently the hotdog minifig is really rare. They don’t even have it at LEGOLand!

Next we walked to “Miniland.” It contains builds of iconic structures of Japan including the Umeda Sky Building( looks real ), the one where we almost caused an international incident by throwing paper airplanes around.

Levi got really excited when he saw the pickaxe and sword from Minecraft for sale. “Which one do I choose?” He went with the sword so he could beat me up.

Overall, we spent two hours at LEGOLand mostly admiring the craftsmanship of the builds.

“Age 6 is a good age for this place; but, I enjoyed it anyway.”

Day 13 - Japan Blog - 19 February 2024 Last day in Japan *sad face* We still have a few hours in Kyoto before we start the trek of 2 trains and 3 planes home. SO -- Im going to Kiddyland!! Although, I wasnt really happy with the one in Kyoto. The best Kiddylands are definitely Osaka/Umeda and the original one in Harajuku (I dont know if that is the original? Is it? I dunno! Its my original one haha!) We caught a taxi to the trainstation again because I couldnt be bothered walking and taking an extra train -- but this time we had some more time.... and I had a goal to get an EkiBen today and I succeeeeeded! Ben had a Korean Beef one and I had Tonkastu Pork — they were hell goooood! I was craving lollies so I even had one of the Nerunerunerune… or DIY candy kits (but this one is directed at Adults, yep yep!!)

So, here we go, our 30 hour trek home. (I’m not home yet and I’m exhausted and sore and I would kill for a shower and a soda water)

When we got to Haneda (Tokyo Airport) we were super early so we had lots of time. We were actually too early and had to take our bags shopping with us!! There was another Hakuhinkan Toy Store inside the terminal. Which was actually amazing! They had a whole section on aviation toys with models and keyrings and all sorts of nerdy stuff. Ben found a Godzilla for $17AUD and I bought a Licca-Chan doll. We had heaps of time to decide what to eat — we settled with ramen and gyoza. Ben got two lots of gyoza because they were pretty satisfying. The airport was much better this time around -- last time nothing was open and we couldnt eat or get last minute souvenirs. As we were boarding -- the ANA Pikachu jet was next to us!!

The flight home was easy because it was a night flight -- I could just knock myself out and sleep. However there were so many people coughing, it was gross!!

When we landed in Cairns I wanted to go to the Esplanade but apparently it costs $30 one way to drive for 6 minutes (stupid!!) so we just ate the junk at the airport again. I had an Aussie Whopper to “celebrate” being home.🍔 (a whopper with egg, bacon and beetroot) But there we go! I got to see snow, and snow monkeys and eat at a conveyor belt sushi train and go to Legoland!

Clem: She would probably enjoy driving aimlessly and seeing what all the states had to offer. Outside of America, she'd probably look up the best spots to check out and go there. Definitely going to go to Paris too to spend time with a special someone.

Louis: He wants to go anywhere and everywhere. He would have a blast going to all the different places and the funds to comfortably do so. Probably one of his favorite spots would be Paris.

Violet: She'd want to see the Grand Canyon so that's where she'd head. She would go on along with others if they set up a road trip. Besides that, Russia would be cool to visit and India too but she'd probably go with a certain someone. It's Prisha.

Marlon: He seems like the all-American boy so he'd probably focus more on the states and would point out that he'd like to visit LA, New York, probably North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota (that's where we think he was born so it's home to him)

Brody: She would dream about going to all fifty states and doing this big road trip. That would be her goal. Mitch would help soup up an RV and get it all set to go. Brody would probably take along anyone who wants to come with so Louis is definitely going to be a travel buddy of hers. After the road trip, Louis would get Brody to go with him on the tour of the world.

Mitch: He would be down for all the weird attractions with Willy. Both of them are the most hype about that. Plus Mitch gets to spend time with Brody so he's going to all the states. Outside of America, hmmm not sure but if Louis is footing the bill for the world trip he'd probably tag along.

Aasim: He probably has one of those maps of all the States with slots over each state for the state coins and he will get all those state coins. He needs them. Outside of America, he would probably like to see Greece and Rome and also India.

Ruby: She would probably want to go to Texas and some of the southern states. Outside of that, honestly, she'd probably just go along with places Brody is excited about. She'd be happy to have a bestie road trip with her.

Willy: He would probably be more focused on the "coolest" state attractions. World's Largest Buffalo Monument in North Dakota? Um Yes. Fremont Troll in Seattle? Let's go! The Corn Palace in South Dakota? He's already in the car and bouncing in his seat impatiently.

AJ: When he was asked this question he just answered with Legoland and Disneyland then got upset that they weren't states or countries. Luckily, on the all states road trip they would stop there. As long as he can be with friends and Clem he's chill with wherever they go. Just make sure Legoland and Disneyland are on the list of stops.

Tenn: Tennessee, obviously, lol. Nah, well, he probably would like that but honestly, Tenn would like to go wherever his sisters go. He'd probably love all the music and art experiences he would have with them.

Omar: Omar would join the all states road trip and just focus on all the different types of food. Outside of America, he would enjoy visiting Tokyo, Japan, Lyon, France, Barcelona, Spain

Sophie: She would totally be down for a road trip of all the States but outside of America, she'd want to visit some art centers of the world. So Paris, Venice, Berlin, London, Shanghai. Honestly watch Louis foot the bill for all these trips for his friends.

Minnie: Based on the calendar we see in the room that Clementine wakes up in TFS and it being the twins' old room Grand Canyon is a must of what both Sophie and Minnie want to see. Besides that, she'd want to go to the most musically talented or states/cities known for music. So New York, LA, Chicago, Nashville, Tennessee, spots like that. Also would be down with going to Mexico.

James: He would probably just go where the wind takes him in terms of States so he's fine with going to any of them. Besides that, South Korea would be on his list of places to visit.

Long story short it looks like the Ericson kids are all going on a road trip together and it starts off something like this

Louis, on the phone which has the speaker on: Vi, come out!

Violet: I'm gay

Brody: No, to the car.

Violet: Car, I'm gay

Everyone:

Sophie: I've got her

Five minutes later

Sophie: *walking out of the apartment with Violet held up like a cat in her arms* I've got the grumpy one! Roadtrip time! :D

20240418: the History of LEGO Castle day 109. 1286 King's Leo's Cart (2000, 22 pieces, 11 different parts) King Leo's Cart is a small hand cart on two brown wagon wheels built with a light gray 2x2 plate with side wheel holders and a blue 1x2 plate with side handles between two black 2x4 plates with four light gray 1x1x1 corner panels holding two trans green and two trans red 1x1 studs. A brown spear with a blue flag is at the end of the cart, attached with a light gray 1x1 circle brick. The one minifigure in this set is King Leo with a chrome gold crown, a yellow minifigure head with black pointed eyebrows and crows feet and a full white beard with mustache, a light gray torso with printed blue front with a yellow lion head on a red triangular background and blue arms, and light gray legs with printed blue and yellow fringe on a black printed belt with red and yellow markings. The King Leo minifigure is used in four sets (1286 King Leo's Cart, 6026 King Leo, 6091 / 6098 King Leo's Castle, and 6095 Royal Joust) and one gear (4212662 Photo Frame Castle Gray). The same minifigure with a black Dragon Masters / Dragon Knights helmet instead of a crown is also found in 5924 Photo Frame Legoland Castle. This set introduced special printing for minifigure belts and legs, making minifigures even more unique. King Leo's Cart is the first set in the Knights Kingdom series and was only available in Japan with Kabaya sweets. This set also appeared as part of a four-pack, including 1286 King Leo's Cart, 1287 Crossbows, 1288 Fire Cart, and 1289 Catapult.
