I hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long guys, I kind of fell into a Draco Malfoy rabbit hole and now with the release of HOTD I was suddenly pulled into the GOT fandom??(I didn't watch either of these shows)

Since I have holidays now and I'm feeling inspired, I thought it be a great idea to finally finish this. I hope you enjoy

You'd prolly meet in the Mystic Grill

I can imagine him eyeing you from across the place and kind of already preparing himself to walk up to you

After a few minutes he'd walk over to you and just start chatting with you

With all his charm and wit he'd kind of pull you into staying and make you more interested

It surprised him that you didn't immediately walk away

You were surprised when approached by such a handsome man but also, kind of worried. Because Mystic Falls is no safe city with all the unsolved murders and the chilling rumors of creatures so horrifying that were a danger even in broad daylight. But soon after you talked with him a while you noticed that he wasn't any danger. Kai, that's his name. He talked non-stop but not without making you talk at least half as much. He was funny, charming and he seemed to be kind. Your soft look on your face didn't go unnoticed by Kai,. It was a look that intrigued him as much as he intrigued you. He loved to make you laugh and he loved listening to your voice. A much better voice than that of Damon or Bonnie. The conversation between you went so smooth that you were talking at least 1-2 hours without any awkward silences. Neither of you even dared to look at their phone in fear of killing the vibe. But once you caught a small look at your watch you gasped slightly and Kai immediately stopped talking mid sentence and looked at you worried. "What? What is it?" He followed your eyes curiously and looked at your watch. He reacted with much less shock. After all, he has no where to go. "Ah, nothing really it's just that I need to head home" you said a little quiet and looked outside and saw how dark it has gotten "I'm really sorry but I need to go now" You said and started packing your stuff. He watched you quietly, not sure what to do now.

Kai was a bit disappointed but immediately started panicking when he saw how quick you were on leaving

He went after you and decided to walk you home

He even got your number when dropping you off

He didn't leave that bad of an impression, so when he asked to meet up again after a few days you were excited to meet him again

With time you'd both meet up more and more and you'd form quite a good bond

He'd call you often when something reminded him of you or text you about literally anything that happened in his day

Of course he wanted to hear about your day too, but he had lots of stuff to talk about

You'd hang out whenever you both had time and honestly, it formed into a more friendship type of thing

He didn't mind because he was thrilled to have someone to talk to

He lowkey did want something more though

He unobtrusively checked whether you were a supernatural being or not and when he figured out you weren't he started wondering wether he was bringing you in danger

Especially when you told him that you didn't talk to the Salvatore Brothers and the people they were friends with

At least it eased his mind that they wouldn't try to talk you out of being friends with him

He did start worrying a lot though again and would get you to let him sleepovers since "His dad was strict and he never had one as a child so he wants to catch up to that"

He doesn't talk about his past a lot

But he did mention something about an abusive household and fake friends that are trying to ruin his life

Anyways, he started sleeping over often and you'd often wake up to him making breakfast

You'd spent all day and when he felt like you were working too much he'd start play fights and taking the things you need and hold them above his head so you wouldn't get them

(He secretly really liked having you touch him and be close to him like that, even if it was only platonic)

He craved that touch, that attention

And he'd kind of always hang out with you

And even if you were busy, he'd lurk around, making sure you're safe

Soon he started feeling weird when seeing you

And let's not forget the raging jealousy that had developed when he saw you flirting with another man

He even asked Elena

And Elena told him the obvious(even when she hated his guts) to confess

After a few weeks of him hanging out with you less and worrying you sick

He went to your place at almost 1 in the morning and confessed right at your doorstep

A decision that could only be made hot headed and past 11 pm

When you didn't immediately answer to his confession(you were half awake) his body was flooded by a wave of anger and panic

You were woken up by your door ringing aggressively and you groaned frustrated. You sighed loudly and slowly got up. you yelled "I'm coming already!! Stop assaulting my doorbell!" and the ringing stopped almost immediately, making you wonder if the neighbors kid were playing a trick on you. You rubbed your eyes and opened the door and sighed a little when you saw Kai standing there. He was standing a little more slouched than usual and he seemed tired as well, but not the normal tired, the exhausted and ill tired. "You-" You wanted to say something but he gripped your arms and said "ListenIhadtotellyouthissincethebeginningbutIdidn'tandwhatIreallywantedtosayisthatI'mdeeplyinlovewithyou".

... "I'm deeply in love with you" ... did he really say that?

"What?" you said. Kai looked at you scared. Did she catch what I said? I can't say it again. He let go of you and swallowed thickly. Did I do the right thing? Oh god she must hate me now. Your tired and confused look started looking like a look of disgust and deep hatred to him. He took a few steps back, suddenly feeling like 7 y/o Malachai again, watching his father look at him like the monster he is. He engraved your face in his brain, so that he could at least remember his first crush when he started over somewhere else.

Suddenly you were wide awake, you noticed him straighten up and his panicked face. He looked so pale it almost made you think he might be sick. But you caught on to his posture. He's about to run away. He wants to run away! He took his first step into the other direction wanting to go into a full sprint but you reached out for his arm and pulling him back hard. Kissing him softly and surprising him greatly.

I guess I'm worried about Elena is all." You cleared your throat. "She's been under for a while and we haven't gotten any closer to figuring out what's wrong with her." You sighed.

"Mhm," Bonnie let out a huff, still a bit skeptical. "Trust me, I know. Me and Kai have been stuck knees deep in grimoires for days." You shifted in your seat at the mention of his name. A familiar feeling bubbling in the pit of your stomach, your core heating as your thighs squeezed together at the mere mention of him. "You good?" She asked again.

"Yeah, I'm good." You nodded. You're eyes glanced down at your phone once more as another texts from Kai came through.

"You keep looking at your phone... anyone special?" Bonnie asked.

"Pfft, definitely not." You scoffed. "It's no one." You shrugged.

"Really? That no one has had you distracted for a majority of tonight." She mentioned. "Are they at least cute?" She asked trying to make light conversation.

"No one. Don't worry about it?" You wave it off.

"Huh..." she hummed, nodded to herself as she bit off another piece of her French fry.

"Haven't seen you this stand off-ish since Me and Damon left you alone with Kai." Again, butterflies fluttering through you. "Which we also haven't talked about, and if that's the whole reason you're still mad at me and Damon just know that I am sorry, and it wasn't my idea." She defended herself and your eyes narrowed at the witch.

"I'm not stand off-ish, and yes I am still very upset with both of you about that." You crossed your arms and she rolled her eyes.

"Come on, it couldn't haven't been that bad." She frowned and your eyes rolled. "Kai even said there was a moment when the two of you got together." She sighed and your eyes went wide as you sat up straight in your seat.

"He said what?!" You growled earning a weird look.

"He said you two got along together..." body mentioned a bit slower at your reaction and current state. "It's not some big crime, you know. Trust me, I hate him, but when he's not being a murderous ass he's helpful in situations like these." She sighed and you relaxed. Of course your mind was playing tricks on you. Why wouldn't it be?

"Kai is probably the most repulsive human beings I've ever met. He's selfish, and power hungry, and arrogant. There is no one I'd rather spend my time with less than Malachi Parker." You're tone was stern, and even had Bonnie's eyebrows raised. She wasn't expecting all of that, but it definitely wasn't like you to not speak your mind. "I could never, and will never look at him as anything other than that." You finished. You let out a tiny huff of air, tryna not to seem as worked up by his mention as you truly were. It wasn't exactly working though.

"Okay, okay, I get it." Bonnie hummed. "But just do you know," she reached over placing a hand over yours. A sympathetic look crossing her face as she made sure to catch your gaze. "Admitting that your warming up to him isn't admitting that your okay with everything he's done. You aren't a bad person for seeing the good in someone, if anything that just makes you more good." Bonnie ensured.

It was a gesture to calm you down. Make you feel more at ease with the racing if your minds thoughts. Instead, it just made your thoughts turn faster. You hated Kai Parker. Or at least you wanted to. It was your shameful secret that you were actually thinking about tolerating his presence. But since that last time you'd seen him there's been nothing but guilt and shame and remorse. What you did was wrong, and if Bonnie found out.... Would she have been as understanding?

These thoughts tortured you for the rest of your day. Traveling with you through lunch and to every store Bonnie dragged you into. It was like he was following you around everywhere you went. Making sure you didn't have the chance to forget what you did. And up until Bonnie finally gave up on every store you went into, it tortured you from the outsides in.

You locked your home door behind you, dropping the bags of clothes, and new shoes that you bought as a simple distraction. Bonnie swore it'd make you feel better, but it didn't. It just made you feel worse. Spoiling yourself after such a horrid deed was done. You dragged yourself up the stairs. Feet aching, and mind in need of a rest so deep you'd never wake up.

"Oh goody, your home, I was beginning to get worried." You jumped back, body colliding with the wall behind you as the noise came from nowhere.

You hurried to turn on the light to your bedroom, revealing the stretched heretic waiting patiently for you on your perfectly made up bed. He sat with a giddy smile, waving his fingers at you like this was just another Tuesday night.

"What the hell are you doing in my house?!" You scoffed, pushing yourself off the wall.

"Well..." he hummed, sitting up in your bed, tossing his feet over the side as he contemplated his next explanation.

"You know what, don't answer that. Just get out." You pointed to the door.

"See, I would do that. But I don't wanna." Kai stood, looking at you as if you didn't strike an ounce of fear in him. "You haven't been answering my messages all day, is it a crime for me to worry?"

"No, it is however, breaking and entering and harassment." You reply and he smiled.

"Funny." His nose scrunched. "But I'm only here because of you." He shrugged.

"Well I'm fine, not dead, not hurt, I won't be able to say the same for you if you don't leave." You reply and he began ticking his tongue.

"That's not what I meant." He sang. "I'm only here because you want me here." He smiles and your eyebrows scrunched.

"Have you not been listening to the past 2 minutes of this conversation?"

"Have I mentioned how hot it is when your trying to hate me?" He smirked, and you're mouth opened to reply but shut quickly when you realized you had nothing to say. "It's really just sooo adorable." He spoke up for himself.

"No, no, if anything you are more yourself than ever before." You grumbled.

"I mean, I knew from last time we saw each other how stubborn you were, but god, you just don't give it up." He let out an exasperated sigh, hands resting on his hips as he looked at you in a way that just made your skin tingle.

"The last time we saw each other was a mistake." You said sternly and he smiled. "And if you came here expecting it to happen again, then you're about to be very disappointed." In seconds you felt his breath down your spine. His hands holding your waist still as his lips were only centimeters away from your ear.

First of all, if you ever reciprocate his feelings toward you this man will go absolutely feral.

Forehead and cheeks kisses.

This is the most touch-starved person in this universe, a few times a month you are late to school because he won't let you out of bed in the morning. Kai is incredibly clingy.

You get kai and bonnie so much together and individually everything you say fits them in canon so well it's too bad the writers really fumbled with them because when kai showed up he was a breath of fresh air and the best part about him is he's all about bonnie that was new and realistic bonkai was their last shot at getting the vampire diaries interest back up again

AH thank you so much for this lovely message, you're so sweet!! Yes, it really is such a shame the writers fumbled Bonkai bc it rly did seem like they had some great ideas there in the beginning, but the execution fell flat :( I feel like Kai was a breath of fresh air not just for us fans but also the cast & crew! U could rly feel their spark of new excitement for a dying show when kai showed up bc i think they all sensed that he was unique and different from the tired, recycled plotlines they'd had since S4.

Ian in particular seemed much more interested in his scenes when Kai was around (and much more lifeless when he wasn't) and Bonnie ofc was *given* much more interesting scenes when Kai was around, compared to prior seasons. Even Alaric & Jo, who started S6 as rick's new boring romance of the season, became relevant, layered and interesting bc of their links to Kai. Like rick loved to play the hero & act like damon was morally beneath him in S6 but his need to protect Jo from Kai brought out a selfish streak that made him go behind Jo & her fam's back to make shady deals w Damon & Kai as long as it kept Jo safe! Even Jo was revealed to be quite crafty considering her backstory of how she tricked & betrayed Kai in 1994, which made her much more interesting than her early role as rick's bland gf.

Even Liv & Luke were (im sorry) SO BORING in S5 but 1000x more interesting in S6 once their story got linked to Kai. His existence single-handedly linked so many disjointed characters & plotlines from previous seasons (like why'd they even bring Rick back after dying in S3? His relationship w Jo (and by extension, Kai) was the only thing that made him relevant for the rest of the goddamn show)! Even the Heretics were introduced to the show through KAI & the gemini/siphoner lore and fully lost steam as soon as Kai wasn't there to make 'em interesting!

As for Kai's links to Bonnie, ya i agree she rly was their last chance to make things interesting bc they'd already given Elena & Caroline "dark" romances that fans were too attached to to accept anything else (see: Delena being forced to stay together; Steroline forever being overshadowed in most fans' minds by Klaroline) so giving Elena & Caroline new pairings would've disappointed fans, whereas Bonnie was a blank slate they could've gone WILD with bc none of her canon pairings had strongly attached fans... yet they gave Elena & Caroline new romances anyway and scrapped Bon's romance with Kai :)))

That is what felt malicious. In S6 alone, they gave Elena who ALREADY HAD DAMON the new guy Liam, then gave Caroline the same guy Liam, Enzo (briefly) AND Stefan, whereas Bon *almost* got Kai & *fully* lost Jeremy in S6. ??? Any writer who paid half as much attention to her fans as Plague did (considering how much ott fan-service she wrote into tvd & how many twitter fights she got into w fans whose ships she disapproved of) HAD to have known her fans wouldn't accept Caroline/Enzo, Care/Stef, Care/Liam or Elena/Liam as much as they loved Care/Klaus & Elena/Damon. Yet she did it anyway bc she preferred LOSING FANS to giving Bonnie someone interesting!

She even planned Kai to be Bon's love interest in S6 bc she thought he wouldn't be popular w fans & instantly torpedoed that once she noticed fans' love for him bc, as I said before, Plague PAID ATTENTION to her fans' reactions. So fans having lukewarm feelings about Steroline was enough to get 'em married, but fans LIKING Kai was enough to get Bonkai axed. It's a common joke that Plague saw Caroline as her self-insert (neurotic, hyper-organized blonde control-freak) which is why she dated more men than even Elena. But I think a large chunk of tvd's white teen girl fans saw Care as a self-insert too (bc w each subsequent season, Caroline was increasingly written & designed that way, which is why fans turned on tvd's original self-insert, Elena, & worshipped Care instead).

Her "im never the one, im not perfect like elena" insecurities made her a blank canvas for (white) girls to see themselves in, which is why she wins Miss Mystic Falls, why she's a privileged Founding Fam member, why she gets to dress fancy & go to Mikaelson balls that have nothing to do w her, why she gets ALL the men, why she becomes the 1st vampire to be pregnant, why she gets to marry Stefan (then instantly lose him so she can go kiss Klaus in the spin-off), why she gets to be tvd's last vampire standing, why she repeatedly gets to have her cake and eat it too. By presenting Elena as "perfect/ideal" & Caroline as an "underdog," fans naturally sympathized more with Care's "struggle" (even tho she repeatedly got EVERYTHING!) Based on this, Plague refused to let ppl like Klaus date Bonnie (which would've made sense) but shoved him w Caroline (which didn't make narrative sense) bc that gave her & white fans the chance to see themselves in Care & feel like THEY were dating Klaus.

(Btw I wanna add that I actually do like & enjoy Caroline! This is a critique of the shadiness that went into *writing* Caroline, not a critique of Caroline herself)

Similarly, Kai was allowed to want Bonnie as long as fans didn't like him, but once he got popular, Plague killed Bonkai bc she believed that she & her (white) fans wouldn't be able to see themselves in Bonnie and feel like THEY were the ones dating Kai. But Kai was not Klaus, Stefan, Damon, Enzo or Kol. His character was CONCEIVED w Bonnie in mind to the point that erasing his obsession w her would make him not even feel like KAI anymore. And that wouldn't work bc fans wanted gucci kai, not walmart kai. Also, his general personality quirks were just not the type that would vibe w Caroline. Chris Wood said it himself, "Kai likes to be the one who talks, he doesn't like to listen, so I think Caroline might make him wanna snap her neck & move on" bc Caroline ALSO likes to talk. So writing him w Care would change Kai too much & writing him w Elena was not an option bc Delena was set in stone & Nina was leaving. So, how'd plague have her cake & eat it too? She refused to let Bon have Kai, and bc there was no other white girl who made sense for him, she kept Kai eternally single so white fans could eternally imagine themselves w him.

And uk what's the worst part? I don't believe all white fans would've necessarily struggled to see themselves in Bonnie if she'd dated Kai. I think Bonnie being the ACTUAL underdog struggler of the show made her very relatable to people, regardless of what your race is (esp bc tvd rarely addressed her race or centered any plotlines on it). I think Plague's own subconscious biases just made it impossible for her to fathom seeing herself in a PoC character, which is why she wrongly assumed all her majority white fans worked the same way & letting Bonkai happen would've disappointed them & made them stop watching. (But that being said, even if it was just a "business decision" to her... isn't it funny how disappointing masses of white klaroline fans didn't stop her from tossing Care at stef, enzo, whoever she wanted, but ONLY stopped her when it came to Bonnie's ships (bc she was looking for excuses to scrap 'em anyway)? Oh plagueee ur biases are showing, girlieee)

A/N: There's a few characters I wasn't expecting to write for but it's hilarious and I couldn't think of any other villains with a heart other than the icons (Kai, Katherine, and Enzo). There were a few I debated on adding and then decided not to. I feel like there might be slight yandere vibes in here but I'm also like ... *crickets chirping*

Enzo

He always thought Maggie was his girl, never gave any other woman a thought (before and after his time being locked up at Whitemore). Then he found Damon and the rag tag crew who are always in trouble, which is when he met you (after trying to kill Damon, of course). And after coming back from supernatural purgatory one time too many times, he stopped acting like a jackass and decided it was time to live his life. He felt something in his undead beating heart for the first time and had no idea what to do. Finding out you two are mates was even better than he could have thought, more so after you sacrificed yourself to stay with him during that fire to show him that you weren't going to leave him, whether he had his humanity on or not, really sold him

Kai

With him having no emotions, merging with his younger brother, and then getting them was terrifying but he'd never admit that out loud. Being told that the reason his heart beats faster around you are because of the feelings for you and is fated to you, he nearly pissed his pants. Then he approaches the Salvatore's for dating advice, and they nearly die because Kai is asking the two guys who have been nothing but mean and are actively trying to keep you two apart for help (the way his mind works is fascinating). When they couldn't offer too much help and nothing was working, he decided it was time to talk to you, confusing you when he had no real motive behind it. It worked though, you two would not be where you are without him chickening out/ manning up

Katherine

With her being on the run for most of her life, she never planned on tying herself down somewhere, more specifically to anyone. Honestly, after her family took away her little girl, she didn't want to be tied down; she was afraid they'd be taken from her. But then you fell into her life, literally. She was almost taken to Klaus (for the billionth time and you fell in front of her). If she were to find herself truly in love, and not what she feels she had with Stefan, a clumsy person like yourself does not make it onto her roster but you've changed her life for the better. Even when she runs back to Mystic Falls to terrorize everyone, she makes sure your safety is her top priority first and foremost

Silas

He always thought Amara was his special someone but then his ex got in the way and messed all that up (big rip for him). Anyway, when he decided to play the role of Saint Stefan, he found himself fascinated by you. The littlest things you did drove him wild, and it took him a while before he realized why he felt this way. He was always told to believe that mates didn't exist, but people still liked to pretend as if they did. You proved him and everyone from his youth wrong because here you two are. Don't forget that he will try and kidnap you to ensure you don't get hurt when everyone tries to gang up on him and to make sure he can "help" you because you are his most favorite thing person

Qetsiyah

She always thought her true love was Silas and always would be, but then he decided she wasn't enough and only used her. The bitterness in her heart grew after that and ruined her thoughts on romance and love. Then she kidnaps Stefan and fries his brain while also finding you amongst his friend group. She knew she had to meet you. Her being in the same places as you, not a coincidence. She slowly found her way into your life and started off as a friend. Then she figured out why she was so invested in your life and slowly backed away until you decided to do something about it. There's no way in hell you're losing someone else in your life especially when you know she means more to you than any of your friends could ever know

The heretics

This was an interesting development for everyone, not just you. But in this case, you could choose whether you wanted a romantic relationship or more of a friendship with the group. Lily and Julain weren't so much involved in the fated bonds thing which annoyed the man from time to time. The Salvatore's mother was just happy her family found someone special (reminding her of her Julian). This whole bond made things harder at times, but they were all happy to have someone else to care for and you’re the one who stopped any arguments from happening and/ or things from getting worse. None of your friends were happy to hear about you deciding to leave with them but if it meant you could save their lives, you're going to take the chance whether they like it or not

AHHHHHH omg thank you! I've already made a post thanking you and I wanted to say thank you for waiting for so long for this post! I'm also super happy that my writing stays authentic to the character since I myself can't read anything were the character is super sugarcoated and acts nothing like the canon version.

This is going to be the PRE-MERGE KAI and I will make an post-merge Kai hc afterwards. I need to remind you before reading that Kai canonically has ASPD which is a personality disorder that I did not do in-depth research into. Also, for the sake of romance I will tone it down a little so that romance can actually work out. (I personally don't believe pre-merge Kai was looking for any relationship in which he would have to actively put effort in)

Now that we've got that out of the way, enjoy:

I'm going with the scenario that you woke up alone in the Prison World and that both Bonnie and Damon came back to life...just you..didn't.

Waking up in the forest you walked back into the city, thinking that you were in the real world

Quickly you realised you weren't. You continued exloring and just let it sink in.

While you were unaware, Kai picked up rather fast that he wasn't alone in the Prison World anymore

He was quietly watching you from a distance and let you roam free for a few weeks

Obviously he picked up on your habits and routines since he had nothing better to do than watch from a distance

You were pretty, he had to admit to himself

You decided to stay at the Salvatore Boarding House since the first day and made yourself feel at home. It's cozy afterall, you made lots of memories with your friends here and it's walls didn't suffocate you like your own home did.

After you woke up and did your morning routine you went downstairs to the kitchen. Just before you opened the door to the kitchen you could hear something on the other side. Cooking. Humming. A male voice? Humming? You tried to open the door sneakily but the old wood creaked loudly and you cursed the house quietly under your breath. Kai's head quickly whipped around to the door and smiled slyly. "Ah, my mystery guest! Come on in, I made your favorite breakfast!" He chimned and looked to the door excitedly. He couldn't wait to actually talk to you. You opened the door and looked around carefully before staring at him. What the fuck.

In the kitchen there was a tall man standing there full of expectation and a towel thrown over his shoulder. The shocked look on your face didn't go unnoticed. A few more moments of you just staring started to make him slightly nervous. "Well? Cat caught your tongue?", he said grinning.

You decided to not run away or fight. A decision that turned your cards completely.

Kai decided to go easy on you, he was prepared to run after you and tackle you down if you had decided to run away but the fact that you didn't, made him somewhat proud

Breakfast was awkward because the sudden invasion of your home killed your appetite.

"Are you eating that?", he said after stuffing his face full with his own plate. "No.", you said and sipped on your coffee, watching him intrigued, "Can I have it?" he asked. "Go ahead" you replied and watched him practically shoving the food down his throat.

Safe to say your appetite didn't come around till maybe noon after seeing him eat like a pig

He was practically talking throughout the whole meal and you listend to him, not really saying anything, because what is there to say? You're dead afterall.

He was bombarding you with questions like "How did you get here?", "Are you a witch?", "What did you do before you woke up here?" and stuff like that.

He also revealed that he had stalked you and you just nodded awkwardly. "Cool..", you said and tried to avoid eye contact. He seriously was so intrugued by your reaction.

You also found out that you weren't dead. "Wait so I'm not a ghost in a weird ghost world?" "What? No! Are you stupid? This is a Prison World"

The rest of the day was full of tension because you knew what a prison world meant. It meant that he must've done something so horrible that his coven decided he had no right for a place in the real world anymore. And he was very agitated because he knew you knew and he knew that stalking people is weird. He was weird, he knew that. He really didn't want you to suddenly disappear or run away because of it.

In the first week or so he did not sleep at the Boarding House with you, once you decided it was bed time, he would get up and leave. And then he'd be back before you even woke up.

You both started talking and got to know each other. He made some trauma jokes every once in a while and you'd laugh it off. But you certainly knew the seriousness of his trauma.

One day he'd ask to move in. You say yes. And a new Era was born.

You were pretty, obv,

He knew, you knew, he hadn't seen anyone in like 20 years let alone a woman!

He never did anything that made you uncomfortable

I think it all started when you went to the grocery store alone and came back, unpacked all of the groceries and handed him one of his favorite snacks.

"Wow, these are my favorite! How did you know?" "What do you mean "How did you know"? You literally give me the puppy eyes every time I wanna eat one myself" you replied chuckling

He started to really "like" you

His heart went fluttering every time you'd remember anything that he likes or finds interesting (Atleast he'd describe it as "fluttering")

He was "falling" harder when he opened up about his past and you weren't judging(but he'd never admit that)

He started memoriesing literally anything you told him about you. Oh that one friend's name and complete family history? Yeah ofc! If I know your childhood counting from the months? Yeah, duh, I listen to ya when you talk.

He felt so seen.

Every time you'd look him in the eyes when either of you were talking. When you'd be amazed with his knowledge about some random topic or when you'd praise him for his great cooking skills. All these things pulled the strings on his heart harder and made it harder for him to actually go after his blood lust.

Some part of him still wanted to hurt you or injure you but he knew better but it also scared him.

He started being dependent on someone.

The longer you spend time around each other the more he'd let his true self show.

And he was so happy someone was willing to accept him.

Though, he was no patient man and he got angry easily.

He had bad days where any little word could trigger a meltdown and he had good days in which he'd only give small warnings when you stepped out of line.

He has a lot of pent up anger and frustration inside of him that result in him screaming and yelling on top of his lungs or throwing around things and intentionally destroying stuff around the house.

He once threw a fit over an argument and ended up throwing a vase after you. He barely missed your head and you ended up running out of the house angrily.

He even cursed after you but not even after 5 minutes he realised what had actually happened and he wanted to run after you but you were gone.

Traceless, as if you had never existed. He ran into the city and called out your name. He searched for you through the town but by the end of the day he wasn't even finished combing through half of the city and you were still nowhere to be found.

Which triggered another meltdown of him just screaming and crying frustrated. You could see him from the top floor of a building and stayed hidden. You knew better than go down there just for him to blame all of it on you again.

That night he wondered if maybe he did go crazy and there actually was no "Y/N" afterall. That the past months were just hallucinations and he created some perfect partner for himself because his loneliness started catching up to him.

The following day you came back to the Boarding House and he tried to play down his happiness as much as possible but he couldn't.

He was convinced you were the love of his life. His soulmate.

Because who would come back after all the shitty things he had done?

He didn't mention he went out to look after you and you didn't mention that you watched him meltdown in the middle of the road and pass out from exhaustion and stress because of it.

The longer you spend time together, the more he wanted a relationship and it just got more and more clear to you too. He wanted to be loved. He needed your love.

And as much as he was anticipating breaking free of the Prison World with you, he dreaded it as well.

He knew there were better men outside for you. Maybe not in looks but certainly in feelings. He knew he can't love you like everybody else. He can't. He can pretend though, pretend and lie.

And he would hope every day that you would not figure out that he did not have the heart that he claimed you had in your hands.

Once you did get out, Kai was clinging to you like you were his only life source.

He tried to keep everything like it was in the Prison World and would get frustrated quickly when realising that that's simply not possible.

He may not love you but he certainly did kind of care for you.
