for a while i've been vaguely puzzled by the use of Medea/Medean in queen's thief fanfic because i couldn't remember it actually being used in the books, and today i searched "Medea" in the ebooks and realized that it only appears in QoA, and i had completely forgotten about it because all i've really been doing is rereading parts of TaT and ACoK for fanfic research. there's one use of Medean in ACoK, but Mede/Medes is the main demonym used in that book. MWT uses Medean and Mede basically interchangeably in QoA (calling Nahuseresh "the Mede" and "the Medean ambassador," and switching between "Medean Empire" and "Mede Empire") but completely drops them in KoA. i wonder why she decided to make that change?

The Next First Beltane
Aelin Week, Day 1: Beltane
I cannot properly say how excited I am for Aelin Week!!!! Thank you so so so so much @rowaelinscourt for organizing this!! Anyway. Here’s my first piece!
Word count: 1,595
Warnings: some language, mentions of war/Erawan/Maeve/KOA (post-canon do be like that sometimes), implied smut
Enjoy!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Fireheart?” Rowan peeked into the bedroom, finding Aelin adjusting her kingsflame crown in front of the mirror at her dressing table. “You alright?”
“Fine,” she returned, her tone a little shorter than usual.
Rowan stepped into the room, closing the door behind him and walking over to stand behind her with that immortal Fae silence of his. Aelin.
What.
You know you’re allowed to tell me the truth, love.
I am telling you the truth, you fussy buzzard. I’m fine. A hint of...something flickered deep in her eyes, whatever it was quickly being repressed.
If you insist, Fireheart. He rested his hands on her shoulders, hoping he could lend her some small measure of comfort. You don’t need to feel obligated to light the fires, you know.
I know. Her voice soft, still a little hollow. But I want to. Determination underlying her words.
I’ll be right beside you, Rowan promised, kissing his queen softly.
She leaned into his embrace, drawing strength from his presence. I love you, buzzard.
I love you too, Fireheart.
He stood behind her for several long moments, arms around her waist, calming her nerves. She threaded her fingers through his, leaning into his chest. I will never not say how absolutely stunning you look in courtly clothes, my love.
Damned itchy things, he grumbled. You know I hate dressing up.
Yes, but you look so wonderful when you do. Itchy collars and all.
Still...
Aelin grinned at him. “Are we ready, my king?”
“We are, my queen.”
~
“Dorian!” was the first thing Aelin exclaimed when she and Rowan entered the expansive grounds of the Palace of Orynth. Still a little battered from the battle, still bearing some scars from Erawan’s armies, the green had just begun to return, creeping over the terrain, casting it once again in life. “I thought you weren’t going to make it!”
“Cleared my schedule,” the king of Adarlan grinned, slinging his arm around Aelin’s shoulders. “I wasn’t about to miss Terrasen’s first Beltane in years. Especially not when the Queen of Ash and Flames herself is making a grand appearance.”
“You’re the best, Dorian.” Aelin hugged him back, catching up with how his recovery and rebuilding efforts were going as they made their way into the crowds gathered in the palace grounds.
“I do try,” he laughed.
“And just how fares the witch kingdom?” she inquired, innocently.
“Quite well,” Dorian mumbled, averting his gaze.
Aelin poked her elbow into his ribs. “Quite well indeed, if that’s all you have to say about it, hmm?”
“Shut up,” he grumbled, flushing slightly.
She just chuckled, winking slyly at him as she headed over to chat with a circle of ambassadors. And from there she barely had a moment to breathe, moving from one cluster of nobles to the next, politely answering all the questions about the rebuilding, about the future of Terrasen, about her plans for the future, and avoiding the questions she had no desire to answer. Like the three pushy lords of Terrasen who outright demanded to know when she was going to “produce an heir.” Literally. Those exact words. Rowan had gone tense with anger when he heard that question via the bond, striding over to the lords and demanding to know when, exactly, they were going to introduce the new budget plans.
That shut them right the hell up.
As dusk began to fall, Aelin made her way over to the open fields, where four unlit bonfires stood dry and waiting in their stone pits. Beside her, Rowan rested a hand against the small of her back.
I’m here, Fireheart.
Standing towards the front of the crowd, who were gathering around the fires to hear the queen speak, Fenrys caught her gaze, blinked four times. I am here, I am with you. Aelin pressed her lips together, forcing back tears at the unexpected gesture of support.
And then she stepped forward, every inch the Queen of Terrasen, and delivered a short, heartfelt speech to the people gathered there. When she had finished, she took a deep breath, reached down into the well of power she kept coiled within herself, and allowed a small, soft strand to curl out, wrapping itself around her hands.
“Happy Beltane, everyone.”
With that, with Rowan’s hand once more against her back, tethering her to the ground, anchoring her, she reached into her power, welcoming the warmth of her flames, and sent her fire outwards, surging towards the four bonfires. The dry wood caught, crackling to life, sparks exploding upwards into the air as the Beltane bonfires flared to life, casting the gathered crowds in shades of red, orange, and gold.
Aelin let her hands fall, watching as the gathering resettled around the fires.
You did it, Fireheart. Rowan’s voice tinged with pride.
I did it, she repeated, leaning against him, smiling softly. I did it.
Together, they watched the Beltane revels progress, Aelin poking a wicked finger into his ribs when she saw the line for jumping over the fire beginning to form.
“You want to go fire leaping, Ro?”
“Absolutely the hell not,” he grumbled. “’S too dangerous.”
“Oh, you have no sense of fun, you grumpy old buzzard.”
“Old, am I?” His hand flexed against her waist, a warning. A promise.
“Indeed,” she hummed, shifting her position so his hand slipped down to her hip, caressing the curve. And then she pulled away, laughing at his frustrated snarl, and headed straight for the line to leap over the fire.
Rowan followed her, keeping himself well away from the line, just wanting to keep an eye on Aelin as she leapt the fire. He knew she was still recovering from the war. They all were. He knew she was trying her best to participate fully in Beltane for her people, for her kingdom, because as she put it, “it just would not do for the Queen to visibly avoid celebrating.” He couldn’t argue with that, but he could, however, hover nearby just in case anything went awry.
Overbearing Fae buzzard, she huffed into his mind, sensing his presence off to the side.
...Moral support? he offered, halfheartedly. She was right about the overbearing thing, that she was.
She chuckled. Fine fine, call it whatever you have to. I won’t try to stop you from fussing, buzzard.
You know I can’t help it, Fireheart.
She just nodded, her eyes meeting his from her place in the line. As she moved forward, approaching the low, crackling jumping fire, he felt her heartbeat increase just the slightest bit, the only sign of any apprehension she displayed. The demi-Fae in front of her jumped, a couple of sparks barely grazing his lower legs, and whooped with glee to his cluster of friends, who cheered for him.
And then it was Aelin’s turn.
She gathered her skirts in one hand, facing the fire with the steely, determined gaze of the unflinching, gold-clad warrior queen who’d led her forces to victory in the face of impossible odds. And, taking a few running steps, she leaped, her Fae strength propelling her over the crackling fire pit. As she arced over the flames, they surged up just a little brighter, as if greeting their queen. She landed on the other side, released her skirts, a wide grin spreading over her face. Whoops and cheers sounded from the line behind her, from the people gathered to watch the fire leapers. Grinning happily, she shook herself out and hurried over to Rowan, her smile infectious.
“I told you I’d be fine,” she giggled, looping her arm through his. “You sure you’re not going to jump?”
“Positive,” he sighed, following her lead as she started towards one of the four great bonfires.
“You’re no fun,” she teased, puffing out her lower lip in a fake pout.
“Oh, princess, I assure you I can be plenty of fun,” he murmured, his breath fanning hot against the delicate point of her ear.
A delightful shiver raced down her spine at his words, at the sinful promise lacing them. “And can you prove that claim, prince?”
“Indeed.” His voice just the faintest bit smug. “Indeed I can.”
~
The last embers of Beltane night burned brightly in the glass lantern Aelin carried, lighting her and Rowan’s way back into the palace. As was tradition, she left the lantern on its little pedestal between the two thrones in the throne room, imbuing the small fire with enough of her power that it would continue to flicker and glow all through the night.
Up in their rooms, she carefully removed her crown, placing it into its box, before flicking open each clasp of Rowan’s jacket slowly and deliberately. He loosed a strangled growl at her pace, flinging the jacket off into a corner of the room and sweeping her up into his arms, kissing her hungrily.
Her lovely eyes were blown out with desire when she pulled back, her chest heaving. “I believe someone has a claim to prove,” she purred, shifting her hips in a slow circle. Rowan’s eyes tracked her movement, darkening with a hundred emotions.
“Indeed I do,” he rumbled, sliding his hands up underneath her dress, pulling it off in one fluid motion and throwing it in the general direction of his jacket. “Indeed I do,” he growled again, moving her up against the pillows. “And I intend to prove it most thoroughly.”
“Do your worst, my king,” she purred, smiling brightly at Rowan as he laid her down and made love to her all through the night.
Hey there, I am interested in one comment you made in the tags, that Catherine de Medici (when young) was what people think Katherine of Aragon was, could you elaborate more on this idea? It seems interesting (your analysis on KoA always is, as it goes beyond the still popular myth of the saintly, perfect "True" Queen)
oh, it's not actually so much about being 'saintly', what i was referring to , actually rather the opposite-- the art of politicking and intrigue.
so, they were both in very similar situations, although not identical, at very similar ages. obviously the latter was widowed and the former was not, but they both had unpaid dowries, were both in foreign countries, and they both had the death of their powerful relatives (isabella of c & the pope, respectively) diminish their status at vulnerable and precarious times.
however, the latter has like, this unearned (imo) reputation as 'crafty' during her early widow years. some even go as far as to say she gave her father in law a run for his money which is, uh...risible. some of her admirers don't really seem to have any concept of self-fashioning, that as she's saying she's 'baiting' him with the match with her sister, her own betrothal has been repudiated and she's not even aware of it.
catherine de medici managed to ingratiate herself to her father in law despite her own vulnerable, precarious position. all the latter did was alienate hers, and most of her own ambassadors during this period. where is the 'craftiness'?
tl; dr as far as capabilities for dissimulation and intrigue go, at similar ages, de medici managed to do much more with much less. considering she wasn't a born princess, considering the death of clement vii, what she managed to accomplish as a teenager is extraordinary. this is counterfactual, but had the latter's father-in-law survived past 1509, i doubt she would have ever been queen of england (the timing of her father and herself finally being willing to return her/to spain, coincided with the death of her father in law, so...her becoming queen of england really had nothing to do with her own political skill(s), mainly just timing); whereas i think the former's father in law living the decade+ after her own marriage was to her benefit because she had that connection with him with which to make other powerful ones at court (obviously the dauphin's death was just timing also, but de medici made the most of her agency up to that point, made the right plays, including being humble enough to apologize for the shortfall of the dowry, which helped, i don't think we can say the same for the latter)
Ghost Cass and 13, please!
13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?
So... ostensibly I have a proper playlist for Ghost Cass but the fact of the matter is I also have a set of playlists and when the main playlist isn't doing it for me, I cycle through these other ones. There's also scenes way on I wrote ahead to that I wrote when listening to other songs on a loop, because sometimes something lodges just right in my head. But for the most part the Ghost Cass playlist is:
Animus Vox - The Glitch Mob
Twisted - MISSIO
Godhunter - Aviators
Brain Damage (Bonus Track) - Aviators
Kicks - Barns Courtney
Sinners - Barns Courtney
Champion - Barns Courtney
Roots - Swingin' Hammers
My Only Miami - Spewcup
Its Mine - Mystery Skulls
Rather Die - Barns Courtney
Oh Love - Phildel
Savages - Royal Deluxe
Rinzler - Daft Punk
Real Good Feeling - Oh The Larceny
No Limits - Royal Deluxe
My Time - Royal Deluxe
Bad - Royal Deluxe
Run With The Giants (feat. Built By Titan) - Sam Tinnesz
Moonlight Shadow (ft. Maggie Reilly) - Mike Oldfield
The Rifle Spiral - The Shins
The eagle eyed among you may notice that some of these songs are also on the given playlists for various other of my fics. What can I say, I'm consistent.
I do also tend to listen to a few other songs when writing Ghost Cass, and so, in no particular order:
In Hell I'll Be In Good Company - The Dead South
Gunslinger's Glory - The Dead South
The River - Blues Saraceno
Grave Digger - Blues Saraceno
The Devil You Know - Blues Saraceno
Devil's Got You Beat - Blues Saraceno
Holes In Your Coffin - Phildel
This Corrosion - Sisters of Mercy
Bullets - Tunng
Dark Heart - Tunng
The Devil You Know - X Ambassadors
A Thousand Eyes - Miracle of Sound
Faith (feat. X) - Koa
Have Faith - Aviators
Pick Your Poison - Black Pistol Fire
You may be noticing some themes. Percy feels damned for making guns, so that's a recurring theme but also just something otherworldly, lingering, a powerful purpose. These are all there in canon too, but Ghost Cass has him aware of Cass' ghostly presence so there's some freedom to go a bit heavier with it, which I enjoy and which also keeps my mind fixed on certain recurring themes and aspects of Percy - he never thinks he really deserves kindness because he's so sure of his own damnation and so while he's polite and never refuses kindness, he's always surprised by it and grateful for it. It's a fun tension and I enjoy writing it!
Hiii I have a question about The Young and Ancient Light and your headcanons about something specific-- but if you don't want to answer, just ignore it please & sorry ^^
So in Chapter 8, Kamet and Costis have this exchange:
“After the assassination attempt,” said Costis. “When the King was recovering.” He glanced up at Kamet. “My master had nothing to do with that,” said Kamet—answering Costis’ unspoken question. “He was still banished to the family estate. We only learned about the plan after it failed.”
But so, in KoA one of the assassins dies in the Attolian dungeon after naming Nahuseresh and Sounis, and though it isn't stated outright, I always assumed this man was interrogated under torture. We get more confirmation and some motive for Sounis in CoK, but Sophos only talks about the Mede ambassador and doesn't name Nahuseresh.
So is your headcanon that Nahuseresh wasn't actually involved in it, or that Kamet maybe just didn't know? Or did you want the reader to wonder and this doubt is part of the fun? I'm asking because I personally think Nahuseresh's involvement in this plot seems kind of crazy, and I have just taken to a headcanon where the assassin in question either didn't actually imply Nahuseresh by name, or that one of the interrogators prompted him with a name and he just agreed to it... Mostly because I can't imagine the brother to the heir of the Mede empire to be the kind of person who personally introduces himself to assassins... Especially assassins he's recommending for another person's use, idk. But then again maybe it WAS a blunder? I don't know, and I was wondering if you have thoughts!
HAH, well the short answer is that I was basing that theory off of the timeline we have in TAT and my much more recent reread of Conspiracy of Kings, and I forgot to check if Nahuseresh was named specifically in KoA! 😂😂
My response to this got super long so it’s under a cut:
My logic was similar to what you are saying here, though—it didn’t really make sense to me for Nahuseresh to be directly involved in the assassination attempt, particularly in the immediate aftermath of his spectacularly failed invasion, and I didn’t think the logistics worked if he was in exile on the family estate and not even in Ianna-Ir to pull strings! (In my fic specifically I was imagining this as the first sign of the emperor/Naheelid just fully going over his head because they no longer think he’s reliable…) And given that one of the threads throughout KOA is that torture (arguably??) doesn’t work and is bad, I really like your theory that perhaps the assassin who names Nahuseresh isn’t the most reliable source, because we’ve already established from Costis’ POV that people who are being tortured will say whatever they think you want to hear.
But that said, I don’t don’t see other strong evidence that readers are meant to doubt Nahuseresh as the originator of the plot, especially since back in book 3 we had far less worldbuilding about Medea and Mede politics. (Rereading the scene after Gen finds out it’s clear he believes it was Nahuseresh specifically and that is part of what upsets him!) I still don’t really think the logistics make sense, but I guess I can see N funding a half-baked, overreaching assassination plan that fails due to bad intel and underestimating the intended target (all of that screams Nahuseresh, lol)! Maybe this was his first (failed) bid to restore his reputation and get invited back to court? And it’s very, very funny if he followed up his first huge blunder in Attolia with a second, equally embarrassing failed attempt to kill the king.
In terms of Nahuseresh’s willingness to directly, recognizably involve himself in this kind of thing, Kamet talks about having to meet with “criminals” as part of his job executing Nahuseresh’s various sketchy plans in Ianna-Ir, and he is feeling out Erondites’ household in QOA (presumably to figure out how willing Erondites would be to screw over Irene/ally with the Medes), so if Nahuseresh is comfortable sending his personal secretary on that type of errand, maybe he doesn’t cover his tracks very well when he hires assassins, either?? (The part of this that still doesn’t work for me, though, is that while the assassins are hired with Mede and Sounisian gold, we have no reason to think they travelled all the way from Medea…if they were hired by Sejanus (or someone working for him), surely they only know second or third hand who else was behind the plot, no matter how unsubtle Nahuseresh was!)
All of that leaves the question of whether Kamet would have known about this. For purposes of my fic, I’m going with no, he had no idea, even though this is the kind of thing Nahuseresh would have told him about in the past, perhaps for the same (unknown???) reason he doesn’t tell Kamet about Hemsha. In the wake of their narrow escape from Attolia, I do think there was maybe some kind of breakdown in their relationship, from Nahuseresh’s perspective, too, even before the scene that starts the book.
For purposes of more general canon interpretation, tbh I still think Kamet might plausibly not have known and/or not been involved (assassination attempts don’t really seem like his kind of thing, plus he’s isolated and presumably out of the political gossip loop when he’s at Nahuseresh’s estate, so would have less ability to know if Nahuseresh is lying or hiding something). But it would also be very funny if he were involved/aware and just quietly never mentioned it to Relius or Gen, in the same way that he quietly elides other things in TAT.
17 and 19 for the writers ask?
17. Tell us a fun fact about your current WIP.
The reference you sent me really helped clear up some things about the KoA-finds-out-from-Pippa WIP, as well as give me some new ideas!
19. Show us the line you want readers to remember from your story.
"I was right!" Father looks triumphant, as though he has scored a point in a negotiation with a nasty ambassador. "My pearl stands as witness that Mistress St. Leger has indeed been yearning for you."
Philippine Heritage Society Ball and 2022 Filipino Heritage Awards a testament to the beauty and richness of our Filipino Heritage
Proud to be Filipino!
Tumblr media
What a night of celebrating Filipino music, Filipino Heritage and all things Filipino!  All roads led to the Fiesta Pavilion of the historic Manila Hotel last July 25 for the Philippine Heritage Society Ball and 2022 Filipino Heritage Awards.  Guests arrived at the reception area dressed to the nines in formal Filipiniana and to partake of the unlimited coffee by Curve Coffee Collaborators and cocktails by Destileria Limtuaco.  Special exhibitors lined up the reception area of the hall including media partners Globaltronics/PARC Foundation and Light TV; presenter Greenfield Development Corporation, MX3, Apo View Hotel, Organique,  ….,.The whole area, including the ballroom, was tastefully styled by Carmen Afzelius of Floral Fairy, who used bamboo, anahaw, succulents, sampaguita, capiz shells and other accents to give the entire event an elegant and festive atmosphere.
The red-carpet pre-event was hosted by the fabulous Raymond Villanueva, who interviewed the attendees and guests about their advocacies, views on heritage, and whose creations they were wearing.  Photographers and media personnel snapped away as each guest was being interviewed.
By 7pm, the guests were ushered into the grand ballroom for the main event.  The show was divided into three main portions:  the Heritage Waltz, the Awards ceremony, and the fashion walk titled Harana sa Rampa.
As the lights dimmed and the announcer called the name of each participant, Philippine Heritage Society members and their partners made their way to the dance floor to dance to “Tanda de Valse”, composed by Jose “Pitong” Ledesma and choreographed by Dalah Pia. The men wore barong tagalog made from local materials like pina while the women wore beautiful designed baro’t saya which swayed gently as the dancers went through their routine. They finished their dance to resounding applause by the appreciative audience.
The awards ceremony was both grand and solemn.  As each awardee walked slowly up the stage to receive their award, the audience was silent in reverence while the announcer listed each awardee’s accomplishments. The awardees present included the owners of Sarao Motors (Awardee for Design), the owners of Aristocrat (Awardee for Service), Lisa Macuja-Elizalde (Awardee for Dance), Attorney Dominador Buhain (Awardee for Publishing), and National Artist Fides Cuyugan Asensio (Awardee for Music).
Dinner was a delight for the senses as Manila Hotel chefs outdid themselves with a tasteful menu of Filipino classics.  Performances by LyrOPERA artists: Randy Gilongo, Calie Ng, Nina Campos (who also emceed), Bernadette Mamauag, Sherine Ann Koa, Eden Dumlao, and the Philippine Tenors, serenaded the guests throughout the evening.
The fashion walk “Harana sa Rampa” was definitely one of the most anticipated portions of the entire evening.  Exquisite Filipiniana fashions designed by some of the country’s top designers (Oskar Peralta, Edgar Madamba, Edgar San Diego, Ditta Sandico, Peri Diaz, Frankie de Leon, Petra Lim, Ronaldo Arnaldo, Ole Morabe and Lito Perez) were worn by luminaries and fashion icons including Ambassador Vic and Connie Garcia, David and Mache Ackerman, Jennifer Angeles, Malou Brewer, Danda Buhain, Aileen Campos, Tess Castro, Maggie Chavez, Ruby Chua, Joel Cruz and kids, Adrea Endicio, Aileen Garalde, Loubelle Gardiola, Rina Garcia, Genieve Jamisola, Rose Ranola Jordan, Rose Santiago Licup, Cora Lozada, Jessie Maloles, Ann Marie Morales, Mhel Pechera, Genevieve Qui, Minerva Racuya, Charito San Pedro, Michelle Media Sison, Lina Castillo Sullivan, Coco and Chanel Sun, Nikki Tang, Elaine Timbol, Dr. Mary Jane Torres, Flora Urquico, Sophia Yara and Mayor Krisel Lagman.  The models succeeded in showing their clothes elegantly and in the best light while they were being serenaded to kundiman classics like Mutya ng Pasig, Ang Maya, Maalaala mo kaya, etc. performed by LyrOPERA singers.
The evening ended with a grand toast wishing everyone a bright future led by PHS founder Sherwin Sozon with fellow founders Tess Castro, Nathan de Leon and PHS Committee Chairperson Mache Torres Ackerman.
Overall the Philippine Heritage Society Ball and 2022 Filipino Heritage Awards were a testament to the beauty and richness of our Filipino Heritage.  Mabuhay!
So my scanner decided to make my drawing...pink? ish? Whatever.
I present to you all, one of my absolute favorite scenes of this series.
Like Helen said, a success all around unless you are the former assistant to the Ambassador from Eddis 😅
[I really, really hope that sitting like this isn’t considered offensive (not just slobby!) in Attolia. If it is...sorry, this is what comes to mind when I think “sits like a printer’s apprentice”]
Day 5 - build
That day a discussion had been going on for some time about where to garrison Eddisian troops. The barons who hosted the troops paid for their upkeep, and several had complained of the unfair distribution of the burden. One of the assistants to the Ambassador from Eddis had turned to the king and asked point-blank, “What does Your Majesty think?”   “What?” Eugenides had to shake himself out of a daydream. He glowered at the Eddisians, angry at being disturbed.   Ornon cleared his throat. “Baron Anacritus would like to be relieved of the burden of supporting our garrison. We are discussing where else they might be stationed.”   “Baron Cletus is next door. Put them there.”   “Ah,” said Ornon diplomatically. “Our engineers have observed that there is a gorge which makes that posting tactically…compromised.” It made the posting tactically useless, as it separated Baron Cletus’s land from every major travel route. Costis had been listening while all this had been explained in detail. He had caught back a sigh, not looking forward to hearing it all again, but he was spared by the king’s whim.   Eugenides waved his hand and said airily, “Build a bridge.”   There was much surreptitious eye rolling, but the king had been asked for his decision, he’d made it, and it had to be taken seriously. The discussion turned to the logistics of bridge building. Afterward, as they traveled together toward the royal apartments, Eugenides had prided himself on his performance. “Very clever,” the queen had said dryly. Costis noticed that he never saw the assistant to the Ambassador from Eddis after that. No one addressed the king anymore, and he went back to woolgathering.
Reverse unpopular opinion: Katharine of Aragon?
Sorry, this is late, I have been slowly going through these so I can focus on each topic.
That she remained dignified and steadfast in her periods of need, first during her time as Dowager Princess of Wales and second after Henry moved her away from court.
Her relationship with Elizabeth of York, I wish we had more written about this.
The ability for people to be automatically loyal to her without them knowing her at all.
She was the first female ambassador to England of Aragon and was very successful.
That she won a war against the Scots with what is the equivalent of a B team as Henry took all the A team with him to France. She was privy to the battle arrangements and inputted her own thoughts.
She knew how to have fun and enjoy herself in her earlier reign.
Her belief in her daughter Mary, at the time there were no successful Queen Regnants of England and most people did not believe a woman could rule it successfully, KoA had seen her mother be very successful in Castile and did not see why her daughter could not be the same in England.
She understood her husband and the roles of Kings, even when he had mistresses she knew it was a right of a King to do so (like her father had with her mother).
That she took the moral high ground.
Even in times of hardship, she believed in the divine rites of Kings especially in her divorce and during the great matter when she could have brought a whole army and seat her daughter as Queen with the help of her nephew.
Technically she was right as the papal dispensation/s did declare her marriage was valid even if she did consummate her marriage to her first husband.
That she still loved and respected Henry till her death, even writing a letter on her deathbed to him stating so.
She prayed for her enemies, which would have been very hard to do so.
Send me topics and instead of salt or hot takes, I MUST talk abt smth I like about it.
