A cuauhxicalli or quauhxicalli, meaning “Eagle gourd bowl” in Nahuatl, was an altar-like stone vessel used by the Aztecs to contain human hearts extracted in sacrificial ceremonies. A cuahxicalli would often be decorated with animal motifs, commonly eagles or jaguars.

Combining the elegance and unique beauty of the finest traditional Japanese katana with the range of motion and raw power of Naginata wasn’t the easiest task to accomplish. The nagasa is slightly shorter compared to usually seen katana’s blade, but with wider motohaba and wider blade toward the tip. It has a shorter tsuka than in a Naginata but a wider blade than in a katana. The curved blade provides a long cutting surface without increasing the overall length of the weapon. The Nagi-gatana has the mass needed to power it through cleaving strokes, yet it is also swift to use and well balanced, as the Unokubi-Zukuri shape reduces the heftiness of the blade. The weight combined with curved blade ensures maximum cutting power. The blade is forged from T10 steel and well-tempered with an aggressive and vibrantly visible genuine clay tempered hamon. A double bo-hi both dignifies the blade geometry and reduces unneeded weight to ensure that the sword has a favorable point of balance and excellent handling characteristics.

The extra long tsuka, inspired by Naginata, was designed not only to balance the weapon, but also to provide maximum torque for cutting.

The Petersen Type C Viking axe was developed during the 7th century and eventually came to the Nordic countries through Western and Central Europe; Several examples of this type have been found in Sweden and Norway. Our Filunger, a type C bearded axe based on an 11th century find from Gotland Sweden, is primarily a robust and strong tool for woodworking built for real and repetitive use like its historical originals. It’s weighted head and wedge-like shape make it ideal for easily felling and splitting timbers and removing material from a work piece. Historically, axes of this type would have been used to make and smooth the planks used to construct buildings and build boats.

The blade is engraved with the Caladanian letters TVWYZ, which is an acronym for “Triumph of Valor and Will as Your Zenith.” The hawk sigil of House Atreides is stamped just above the handle. An injection-molded nylon handle is hand-wrapped with imitation black leather to mimic the actual screen-used prop. The stunning reproduction can be displayed on its included wooden wall display (mounting hardware included) which is adorned by the hawk sigil of House Atreides. A Certificate of Authenticity is also included.
