Once again, this is another one that literally came from me watching Footloose 2011 so enjoy this pure chaos

This came from a conversation with @josiewrites and @mrsmatt and this is the best kind of chaos
Warnings: Use of alcohol (wait until your legal children)
Notes: I kinda hate this but I'm just gonna run with it, no regrets.
It was Julia’s 21st birthday and she had asked to go to a country bar. You were all for it, country bars were so much fun, and you knew that being a former cheerleader that she missed being able to dance at times. Being a former dancer yourself you were more than willing to go to a country bar and participate in some line dancing.
It had taken you both a lot of convincing to get your fellow House of Black members to go with you, especially Malakai. Buddy was definitely the easiest to convince, Brody not far behind, but Malakai was a tough nut to crack. You and Julia being the youngest of the stable definitely got you a lot of leeway with the guys, they were fiercely of you both, and would gladly burn the world down if you two were ever injured.
As you all walked into the bar, you and Julia immediately made your way over to the counter to order a drink. You could feel the looming presence of your three teammates as you and Julia both got ID’ed. The bartender smiled and wished Julia a happy birthday before taking your orders. You could tell Julia really didn’t know what to order so you asked the bartender for a recommendation. He offered up a Malibu and Pineapple and Julia agreed to it, you ordered a White Russian, and you heard the guys ask for whiskey.
Once you received your drinks, you all drifted towards a high top and drank for a bit. You laughed when Julia tried her first sip of her drink and pulled a face. But once her initial sip went down it didn’t take her long to finish her drink. You were also pretty quick to finish yours, both of you really wanting to dance more than anything. You both had tried to drag the guys to the dance floor but didn’t have any luck.
You could hear the loud cheers when Fake I.D. from Footloose 2011 came on, you and Julia almost immediately rushed onto the dance floor to join the line. As you two got lost in the fun, you couldn’t hear Brody, and Buddy laughing at the two of you, while Malakai had the ghost of a smile on his face. Eventually, it looked almost too enticing so Buddy joined you both picking up the dance fairly quickly. Brody looked at Malakai who gave him a nonplussed look in response so Brody shrugged, chugged his drink and joined you guys on the dance floor, although he was far less graceful than he had let himself on to be, causing you and Julia to laugh at him slightly.
As the dance shifted you all looked at Malakai who was still nursing his whiskey, but he had his watchful gaze on your group, more specifically you and Julia. He knew Brody and Buddy could handle themselves but he felt an extra protective instinct regarding you both seeing as he took you under his wing. Julia tried to motion him onto the dance floor but he politely shook his head no.
You leaned over and whispered into Julia’s ear to use the birthday excuse and she quickly nodded and made her way over to the tall man who stuck out like a sore thumb in his black suit; at least Brody and Buddy had dressed down into some jeans and a nice shirt. The three of you had gotten lost in your dancing that you hadn’t even noticed that Julia had managed to drag Malakai out on the dance floor.
She and Malakai weren’t so much as dancing but swaying back and forth as she rattled on about her upcoming match and he gave her advice. When the song was over, Buddy teasingly asked Malakai to dance who sternly said, “the only reason I agreed was because it’s her birthday, and I agreed to once dance and it certainly wasn’t with you.” You all laughed it off because you could see the smile, threatening to poke through on Malakai’s face.
Julia had decided that she wanted to drink some more so you had gladly offered to go with her, once again feeling the intimidating presence of your company enough to make any unwanted attention go away. Between the two of you alone, you both had consumed at least 3 more drinks each before Malakai decided it was time to go home. Brody had to essentially carry Julia, because as a new drinker she was definitely a lightweight. You leaned on to Buddy mainly, you were not as drunk as Julia, but you were definitely in the floaty buzzed feeling.
Brody had managed to get Julia into the backseat of the car before Buddy climbed in and helped you in. Brody hopped up front with Malakai and he looked in the rearview mirror to make sure you were both alright, you were talking to Buddy about something, while the birthday girl had managed to fall asleep, he winced inwardly when he realized that she was going to be hungover tomorrow, and most like, so would you.
The drive back was quiet so Brody, not being one to enjoy silence put the radio and soon the sounds of ABBA filled the car, causing you and Buddy to start singing along in the backset, Malakai was impressed Julia didn’t end up waking up. And as he continued driving he questioned himself many times why he was friends with the lot of you, although he was grateful to feel almost normal with you too, instead of just being a “spooky cult leader”.
Although that was a secret he swore to take to the grave, he couldn’t let you all get big heads, could he?

When you're going through a rough patch, Adam Copeland is there to help you through it...
Lately you’ve been down on your luck, most days it feels as if nothing goes right. There was one incident in particular that you felt set things in motion though. During Dynamite a couple weeks ago, you had a title match against the TBS champion Julia Hart. Everything was going well until the last few minutes when you slipped on something in the ring, causing you to stumble and mess up the move you were trying to land on Julia. In the end, both of you ended up getting hurt. Julia suffered a shoulder injury, and you sprained your ankle.
While slipping wasn’t your fault, there were several fans and even a few coworkers that blamed you for everything. The number of hateful comments and posts you were tagged in on social media took a toll on your psyche, really hurting your self-esteem and mental health. You already felt terrible about the injuries you and Julia both sustained, but the added hate you were receiving made it that much worse.
You were still traveling with AEW, even with your ankle in a boot and walking with crutches. You saw the way some of the people backstage looked at you making it clear that they were still skeptical or upset about the incident. You had turned off notifications for all your social media accounts and stopped checking it as often as you used to. One night during Dynamite, you were standing off to the side backstage watching on a monitor when you heard a familiar voice call out to you, “There’s my girl!”
If it weren’t for Adam, the last couple of weeks would’ve been so much worse than they already were. While you were falling apart, he was there for you every step of the way. He was your protector and confidant, the giver of the best bear hugs. The weight of the world didn’t feel as heavy when you turned slowly and took in the sight of his bright smile, releasing a sigh of relief when he wrapped you in his arms. “I’m glad I found you, I’ve been looking everywhere. How are you?” Adam spoke softly with his cheek resting on the top of your head. You nuzzled in closer to him, enjoying the safety his arms provided from the world around you. “I’m fine, just glad you’re here now,” you replied timidly. Adam pulled back a little, not letting you go completely before he called you on your bluff, “That’s not very convincing. What’s wrong?”
You tried reassuring Adam that you really were fine, but he knew better. He probably knows you better than you know yourself! He invited you back to his locker room so the two of you could talk more, and you happily agreed after getting a dirty look from a production team member.
Adam closed the door behind him before taking a seat next to you on the couch. “So, what’s up? And don’t say nothing because you know I won’t let that slide,” he prompted. You took a deep breath and began explaining everything you had been feeling recently. “I just can’t believe anyone would think I would hurt Julia on purpose! That’s not my style or how I do things. It’s like no matter what I do or what I say, no one believes it. I talked to Julia about everything and she’s not even mad at me. It was an accident, but it feels like I’m guilty until I can prove that I’m innocent, you know?”
Adam sat back and listened to everything you had to say, not interrupting you once or acting uninterested as you carried on. He knew that letting all your thoughts and emotions out would be therapeutic, so he didn’t want to say anything until you were finished. “The people who really matter know it was an accident Y/N. It’s easier said than done, but you just gotta ignore the hate. It’ll all blow over eventually and things will get back to normal. You’re one of the best people I know! You’d never hurt anyone on purpose,” Adam spoke gently. Your conversation continued for a while longer, and by the end of it you felt so much better. You thanked Adam for listening to you and for his advice, earning a warm smile from him in return. Before the two of you left the locker room, he reminded you of one last thing, “I’ll always be here for you, no matter what…”

You limped backstage, holding your shoulder with a seemingly permanent glare on your face. You didn’t stop to talk to anyone at all, you just wanted to get back to your locker room and escape this hellish night and get back to your hotel. You walked into the locker room, a half smile etching onto your lips at the sweet voice of your girlfriend
“… you did good!” She said as confidently as she could, sitting cross legged on the bench.
“I did awful! Toni almost kicked my head off and my shoulder!-” you stopped as you gave her a glance, looking her up and down with a small grin.
“That’s… that’s my shirt” you pointed at her, almost chuckling. The blonde let out a small giggle, shrugging innocently.
“Oh yea! Guess I just grabbed it when we were leaving.. whoops.” You could tell she knew what she was doing, she may be scary as shit in the ring but she was absolutely adorable in your eyes.
“I love you” you let out a small laugh, sitting next to her and laying your head on her shoulder.
“I love you too my love..” Julia mumbled, kissing the top of your head.
“So… when am I getting this back?”
“Never. What’s yours is mine babydoll.”
“Oh-”

Love Interest by Clare Gilmore (still tap dancing between 4 stars for overall joy and 3 due to demerits); The Seat Filler by Sariah Williams (perfect hand-claspy fluff of fantasies! once I washed the author's notes out of my brain); Summer at Tiffany by Marjorie Hart (a quick but delightful read! brought to you by: "when I left this morning I thought I was just dropping my parents off at the hospital but actually I'm staying with Mom the whole time and will end up staying at the house overnight"); Penhale Wood by Julia Thomas (disappointing meh after I loved her debut).
and on audio, Texts From Jane Eyre (which is a STELLAR listening experience; it's just two narrators but they are full on voice actors bringing the literal equivalent of a script -- with no stage or other directions -- to life. While I only vaguely remember the original...blog? Twitter account? website?, this had me cackling)
God, we haven't even made it to Current Reads yet, huh.

current: Meanwhile Farm by Margaret Cheney (70s back-to-the-land memoir by a widowed and middle-aged feminist -- bought it at a book sale ages ago and when I was at the house, it ended up being the one that spoke to me most as a Next Read. it's interesting but overwritten, so probably not a keeper but still worth the read); When You Get the Chance by Emma Lord (underwhelming; I really thought LiveJournal was going to play a far bigger role than it has so far, 2/3rds in); Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands (💖) (so much so I haven't gotten past chapter 3 as I keep putting it down to squee)
and on audio I'm working through Goosebumps #10 (The Ghost Next Door) to fall asleep to -- childhood favorite! -- and just started The Only One Left by Riley Sager.

Which of your fics do you want more attention for?
Ok I’m going to go in a different direction and say which fics I don’t want more attention for, which would be any of my weirder Richard fics or the Netflix/Old Guard Fandom BDSM fic. Because I’ve had a couple of people go from reading Ink & Ivy straight to those and getting whiplash (and potentially trauma) so... I am beyond overjoyed you want to read more of my work but it’s 100% safer if you sort by kudos and avoid anything that includes the Netlfix Geeked Week sex dungeon.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Absolutely! I mean I always feel inadequate because I can never reply to comments as well as I can write fic, but that’s life I guess.
What sorts of things do you normally write?
Fluff, smut, crack, and the occasional longer AU.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Last time I got asked this I forgot I did actually have an angsty-ish fic, because normally I avoid angst like the plague. But Lowlands Away ends with Andy thinking about losing Quynh which is as angsty as I’ll ever likely get!
What's a fic that pushed you out of your comfort zone?
Take a Breath and Softly Say Goodbye, purely because it was by far the longest fic I’ve written. Also the Richard/Valerio sounding fic because... it’s a Richard/Valerio sounding fic.
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you've written?
I do! They range from the relatively serious TOG but make it ancient Greek/Roman ones I’ve done to the weird-ass TOG Shadowhunters crossover I wrote for Julia’s birthday. It was written entirely with her in mind and as such is probably the nichest and weirdest thing I’ve written.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope, and likely never will. I feel like it’d be similar to playing doubles tennis, where I’d just worry about letting the other person down the whole time.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
My Knight’s Tale AU for the Old Guard. It’s barely 1k atm, and there’s just so much to write and work out that I don’t think I’ll go back to it any time soon.
What are you currently working on?
So much, I need WIP restraint, really. Besides my Bridgerton and Downton Abbey fics I have a sequel to The Blood and Sand Beneath Our Feet that’s racking up words quickly, a Nile-centric fic, and ofc the iceman!Nicky AU that’s going... slow. And then, because I love pain, I’m slowly picking up my original novel again and trying to get back into that.
What are your writing strengths?
I’ve been told it’s the authors notes I leave at the end of fics, but also Sarah reliably informs me it’s blowjobs.
What are your writing weaknesses?
That part when I’ve written all the interesting dialogue and action and have to work out how to fill in the rest. Agony.
What was the first fandom you wrote for? Most recent?
Midsomer Murders Officially, on AO3, it’s the Last Kingdom, with The Old Guard being my most current fandom.
What's your favourite fic you've written?
This changes every day tbh. Right now it’s More than Mercia, my Aethelflaed/Aldhelm fic, and my first “serious” fic.
What fic are you most proud of?
Again, this changes constantly, and atm it’s To Die a Hundred Times. I just think it’s neat.
