#Jamil birthday takeover

Jamil, Idia: Desires so Deep
Ignore me getting a late start on this new birthday series 💀 (Got busy with irl stuff!!)
Oddly enough, the vignettes don’t mention Jamil’s birthday at all; they’re at the National Art Museum in the Land of Dawning to celebrate its 100th anniversary. It seems this new series (Platinum Jacket) will have vignettes with more focus on how the boys relate to and what they think about important historical figures in Twisted Wonderland!
… Also, the fact that the book 7 part 5 update came out a few days before Jamil’s birthday… and then his vignettes go and show a Maleficent painting in them… Yeah 😭 but what’s even funnier to me is that Idia calls Jamil a chuunibyou WHich iS SO ACCURATE, THANK YoU fOR CALLinG HIS ASS OuT, KING 🙏 What is Jamil doing in that sussy Groovy if not being a chunni…
A Tale as Old as Time.
Tumblr media
Contained within a shining platinum frame was an illustration of a starry scene. A man in a fine white turban crowned by a single violet plume. A woman, perched on a balcony, in a refreshing blue-green, a jasmine flower set into her long, dark braid.
They stared longingly into each other’s eyes, conveying an emotion not spoken aloud. No words were needed for what they had: a love so tender it made the night weep. The stars into glittering tears sliding down the face of darkness.
Standing before the painting of the happy couple, Jamil folded his arms and frowned.
… Can feelings truly defy social status?
"A street rat marrying a princess… Hah."
His fingers curled to fists, digging into the pristine white fabric of his suit. Jamil's expression remained neutral, no hint of the bitterness brewing within. He was a master of leashing it.
What nonsense. I doubt their happiness lasted long. The difference in their standing is far too vast to be bridged.
Jamil lowered his gaze and looked away.
Adjacent to the loving pair was a spindly man with a curled goatee. His crimson and black headdress resembled the flared hood of a desert viper—a look iconic to the Sorcerer of the Sands. He gleefully clasped a golden oil lamp in his long, bony fingers. A remarkable achievement, an item he had been searching his entire life for.
Now, here was a great man. Someone who had slaved away and earned his reputation, climbed in social ranks on merit alone. The Sorcerer of the Sands would die a highly accomplished man, advisor to a sultan, renown scholar mage, and seeker of truth.
The very symbol of Scarabia’s spirit of deliberation.
"Jamil-shi?"
The voice was soft and nervous, like that of a specter not yet parted from this world. A faint blue glow fell upon the Sorcerer of the Sands.
Jamil turned, releasing a sigh when he realized who had appeared beside him. "... Oh. It's you, Idia-senpai."
"Eeep!" His upperclassman jumped at the mention of his name. He clung to the doorway, and anxiety evident on his pale face.
"Well? Don't let my presence deter you from appreciating the artwork."
"N-No, that's okay!! It was getting to be too crowded in the main hall, so I wanted to dip and take a breather somewhere quiet to let my stamina recharge... b-but that's completely pointless if other people are still around!"
"You won't even notice me. I not a snake—I don't bite," Jamil insisted flatly. Not unless I want to. "You look suspicious lurking in the doorframe. You may as well come in."
Left with no other choice, Idia awkwardly shuffled into the exhibit.
He positioned himself a good distance away from Jamil, not saying so much as a word as he stared at an ornate figure of a broad-bodied ape. Its lips were twisted into a grotesquely wide smile.
Nestled in the monkey’s palms was a massive red jewel, glistening even in the scarce light. Idia's own terrified reflection bounced back at him in the gem’s many facets.
"Can't believe I got dragged out for this," the third year grumbled under his breath. "I-I wanted to go to that pop-up Sled Over Heels collab cafe with the walk-in museum... Instead I have to be here and gawk at the same pictures I've seen over and over again in magic history textbooks... Aaah, it totally doesn't compare at all to cute anime girls pouring all their passion into the artful sport of sledding!"
Some small, fragmented part of Jamil grimaced at the disrespect, try as he might to close off his ears, to not engage. No good ever comes of provoking a stubborn mule, he chided himself.
But the devil on his left shoulder pounced.
"Idia-senpai," Jamil spoke carefully, a slight edge to his voice. It made the hairs on the back of Idia's neck stand at attention. "Are you not a fan of this style of artwork? Or is it the subject matter you find distasteful?"
His upperclassmen startled. Horrified as the realization that Jamil had heard his every complaint, the tips of his flaming hair colored pink.
"W-Well... I'm not exactly a buff for this kind of thing," Idia stuttered. "It's ancient history. Been there, don’t that. Th-There's really no point in being on that grind cycle if it all just amounts to the same ending anyway. That's basically all history is, anyway."
Jamil bristled—though he took care to not let it show. "I beg to differ. The story of the Sorcerer of the Sands defies such paltry notions. He struggled much in his life, even served under a carefree, incompetent sultan that barely listened to a work he said.”
I know what that’s like.
“Jamil…!”
A smile he thoroughly detested flashed in his mind. So big and pearly and irritating as he offered him his hand.
“Let’s start over. We can be rivals… but we can be friends too.”
But that boy was a fool.
Feelings can’t trump social status. Not then, not now. Not ever.
“And yet it was thanks to his contributions that he is remembered today as one of the greatest men to have ever lived. The Sorcerer of the Sands was able to break free and live as he desired. He acquired the Genie of the Lamp and phenomenal cosmic power. He decided his own destiny.”
"Uweh, sounds like he's your kami-oshi, Jamil-shi... I guess it makes sense though, since you and the Sorcerer of the Sands are the same character archetype and everything. Chunnibyous gotta stick together and all…”
"… What is that supposed to mean?" Jamil planted his hands on his hips. He didn’t understand all of Idia’s slang, but he also wasn’t sure if he wanted to.
Idia's eyes—wide and anxious—cut away from him. “I-It’s nothing important…”
“Then why are you hiding it?”
“B-Because you’re definitely the type who would hold a grudge if anyone pisses you off!!”
“How rude. I’m offended that you think so lowly of me.” Jamil allowed himself a little smirk. “I’ll have you know that I won’t stop there. In fact, I’ll enact a vengeance plot so excruciatingly humiliating that you won’t ever be able to face the light of day comfortably again.”
“S-See?! That’s what I meant!! Y-You’re a certified chuunibyou!!”
“Whatever that means, I assure you that I’m not. Is it so wrong to look back on history and to appreciate how far we’ve come since?”
“Th-That’s…”
Jamil found himself returning to the painting of the Sorcerer with the lamp. He was almost drawn to it, lulled into a hypnotic trance. An item that could make all of his hopes come true…
“Let me ask you this: if you could have any wish granted, what would that wish be?”
“E-Eh?! Any wish…” Idia fiddled with the glittering buttons on his suit. He nibbled on his lower lip, a darkness having swept up what little color there was left to him. “I-I can’t say it, but… more than anything, there’s someone I want to say goodbye to.”
“I see. A fond farewell.”
Letting go.
Jamil’s chest tightened.
In a distant memory, flowers of fire lit up the night. He had been dancing then, hair and fabric flying as he spun and spun and spun. When had he last felt so free? His wings unbound, the sky as his limits.
“As for myself, what I wish for most of all is…”
He glanced back at the painting of the two lovers. Star-crossed, against a star-streaked sky. Adventure calling, liberation beckoning.
A look most malicious graced his careful controlled features. Lips in a lopsided smirk, eyes like daggers, glinting sinisterly in the dark. Concealed weapons rising to the surface.
“… to be well-connected with people who may prove useful in attaining my dreams. Yes, that’s it. Useful.”

Jamil, Silver: Show me the World
Ahhh 😔 so turns out most of the interview questions were about using magic, BUT we do get one question about “something they hope to do in the upcoming year” I’m counting this as a partially correct prediction 😂.
I’ll be focusing on the future as the central theme for my next birthday series. Let’s start off strong with Jamil, the birthday trendsetter! Okay but let’s be honest here, those pointy elf shoes are ugly as hell
A Boy in Bloom, and his Flowering Future.
Tumblr media
“What’s one thing you hope to do this upcoming year?”
The future? A tantalizing concept that Jamil often found himself toying with. It was a single die dancing between his fingers and the palm of his hand, yet to be cast.
But alas, there was no future for him—at least not one defined by his own free will.
Not yet.
Jamil concealed a fist in the long sleeves of his robes. His face held not a trace of grief, nor frustration. He speaks with a controlled calmness, his tone perfectly steady.
“… I would like to learn about the cultures of countries outside of my own.” He indicated the sky with a thumb. “I had mentioned earlier that I wanted to travel the world and see things that aren’t in any guidebook. That’s a part of my reasoning.”
“You still have travel on the mind.” Silver nodded understandingly.
“I’ve not had many opportunities to go beyond the Scalding Sands. There is so much I have yet to be discovered about the world—so much that I want to learn and to experience for myself. Customs, traditions, beliefs... They differ so greatly from one to the next.
“I want to be mindful of that so as to not offend.” Jamil granted his interviewer a half smile. Foreigners in unfamiliar lands are prone to getting taking advantage of. I would like to avoid those situations as much as I can. “And, of course, to enrich my own understanding of them.
“My parents are very hospitable. They use their knowledge of other cultures to calm their most difficult of clients. It’s a very useful skill for any circumstance. I hope that I am able to emulate it for myself.”
“Different perspectives are very important things to consider,” Silver agreed. His words were floaty and slight, like slivers of moonlight sliced from the night. “During my father’s own travels, he was able to meet people from all over Twisted Wonderland and even beyond. He has amassed many teachings and much wisdom from them. ‘There is no right way, but rather a different way,’ he’d say.”
“Your father sounds almost like a myth. Just how has one man managed to travel so much in his short lifetime?”
“Ah, he...” Silver hesitated, his eyes cutting away briefly. “He has his ways.”
“How fortunate for him.”
What I would give for that kind of freedom. Such a thing… I can only dream of it.
A thought caught in the web of Jamil’s mind. He plucked it out between his thumb and forefinger, rolling it in the pads of his fingers. The question was offered to his interviewer.
“Out of curiosity, did you see the world with him?”
“No. I stayed at home, looking after both the house and myself.” Silver paused. The aurora of his eyes lit up moments later, his eyebrows hitching as though he’d been struck by lightning. “Oh! I see now. You were worried about me, Jamil.”
“... I was what?” The birthday boy’s eyeballs were straining to stay contained in their sockets.
“It’s alright,” Silver reassured him. “I was never lonely without my father at home. I had company. There was Sebek and the local animals for me to play with—and I knew that my father would return safely from abroad. He always does.”
“You certainly have a lot of faith in him.”
“Yes! He is a great man, one that I highly respect.” Silver laid a hand over his heart, his gaze resolute. “… Jamil. Are you unafraid?”
“Of what?”
“When you depart for your travels… are you not afraid of how that will leave your family feeling? They must miss you terribly, even now while you’re studying at Night Raven College.”
Jamil’s response was trained.
Automatic.
“My family will be fine. They have their own work to tend to.”
My parents would kill me if I up and left my duties to travel the world. If they found out I had plans for that at all, they would try to stop me.
Because it had never really been about what he wanted, had it? There was always something above him. A matter more pressing, a person more important.
“You can’t do this. You understand, don’t you, Jamil?” The future is not yours.
It was never mine to begin with.
It was a treasure snatched from him right when it was already within his reach. Glistening gold, rich rubies, dazzling diamonds.
Slipping through his fingers like fine grains of sand.
If only he had a genie in a lamp. Someone to snap and suddenly make all of his wishes come true.
His throat constricted.
His expression remained unchanged. His true feelings, masked.
“Jamil.”
Silver had a hand on his shoulder. The knight’s face was solemn—serious, but strangely serene. His grip tightened into a squeeze.
“You’re a good person. No matter how much it may hurt them to see you leave… I’m sure that your family will support you no matter where you choose to go in life.”
Sincerity shone in Silver’s voice and eyes.
Good will, optimism, trust. All things he could afford because he was well-meaning. Well-meaning and ignorant.
Just like...
An irritatingly cheerful face flitted into his mind. Phantom hands closing around his, and the promise of a new beginning at his ears.
He frowned.
“Let’s start over, Jamil! Not as friends, but as rivals!! We’ll push each other to work even harder, get even better…! Then… we can work our way back to ‘friends’!”
“And just who in their right mind would ever willingly want to be friends with you?!“
That decision was mine.
“… Of course.” Jamil smirked, tossing back his ponytail. It fell like a curtain of night, the golden accessories woven into it twinkling like blinking stars. “I will make the world my own, regardless of the expectations placed on me.”
That’s right. I can’t give up here.
I refuse to quietly resign myself to that fate. I don’t know when, and I don’t know how, but… I will change it by my own hand.
“You have a wonderful future ahead of you.” Silver lowered his head to the birthday boy. “We are comrades. Let’s do our best to follow in the footsteps of our loved ones.”
“… Yes, let’s.”
Follow? No—I’ll break free.
Jamil twirled his broom and mounted it, setting loose a scatter of dark petals. They twirled in the crisp autumn breeze, joining with sunset colored leaves.
Magic ignited the broomstick, sparkles dancing along its bristles—the flowers. Already, it, and Jamil’s feet, were floating a few centimeters off the ground. Eager to soar to new heights.
Jamil tossed his interviewer a cool glance. “It’s time for the departure.”
“Safe travels along the birthday road and beyond it,” Silver advised. “You will see the world someday—and when you do, it will be shining, shimmering, and splendid.”
“… Thank you, Silver.”
Jamil did not look back.
Thank you for having faith in my future.

Azul, Jamil: By One’s Grace
dnsjbsuebxkzn One of my friends noticed that Platinum Jacket Jade and Azul have the same two portraits, with the placements swapped. This is not true for other dorm leader-vice dorm leader pairs we’ve already seen, like Malleus and Lilia. Just an interesting little detail?
MORE JAMIL AND AZUL PETTY DRAMA… Been craving it since early book 4, one of my favorite treats 😋
A Tale as Old as Time.
Tumblr media
"Jamil-san."
He flinched at his name and turned away from the caller. When the footsteps still came, Jamil retreated further into the exhibition. Famous faces stared down from their picture frames at the fleeing boy.
"Jamil-san, please wait for me," Azul tried again. He picked up his pace, in hot pursuit of his peer. "Jamil-san!!"
Deeper and deeper they delved, spiraling into the museum’s depths. The light slowly fading, the air stretching thin and gauzy. Neither relented from the chase--not until Azul ran his prey into a corner, an arm outstretched to contain him in a quiet corner. Jamil silently cursed.
Caged in with an octopus. Great.
A facetious laugh rose from Azul's throat. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were purposefully trying to avoid me."
Jamil deadpanned. “You don't say. No, I was just trying to learn about the history of the Coral Sea in peace."
"If that's what you're interested in, I believe you'll find no better wellspring of knowledge than myself." Azul offered with a coy grin. "I would be more than happy to share stories straight from my hometown. Anything for a dearly beloved companion. such as you."
"No thank you," Jamil quickly retorted. I think I'd rather eat poisoned curry again. "I would be ill-advised to accept free 'help' from you. You'll come knocking and calling in for a favor a few days later."
"Who's asking for favors?" Azul gasped, feigning ignorance. "I simply wish to aid a classmate. As dorm leader of Octavinelle, I pride myself on keeping the Sea Witch's spirit of benevolence alive and well."
Jamil scoffed and folded his arms. "Coming from you, that sounds extremely insincere."
"Me, insincere? Far from it!" He insisted, waving a hand dismissively. From the corner of his eye, Azul caught a flash of fiery red. He tilted his head, and his brows raised. "Hmm? Oh, this painting is..."
"The painting?" Jamil followed his gaze.
There was a young mermaid mounted upon a rock, a massive wave crashing into her from behind. Though the skies were dark and stormy, her face was full of light and sunshine. A great mane of fire whipped around her, the mermaid's chest thrust out and mouth open in joyful song.
"One of my favorite works of art."
"Somehow I doubt that..." Jamil sighed. "What exactly do you like about it?"
"Many things! For one, there is her gullible... er, excitable expression. You can see just how much wonder she has for the world. She's full of hope for her future prospects.
"In fact, this is the very same mermaid appears in some legends about the Sea Witch." Azul chuckled softly--though his growing smirk was anything but. "A mermaid so lovesick, she failed to meet the conditions set forth in her deal. Because of that, she incurred the Sea Witch's fury. It's a cautionary tale to always pay one's dues, fufufu."
"... No wonder why you like it," his peer grumbled. "For her to make a promise to the Sea Witch and then not follow through with her end of the bargain... How foolish. Her punishment is well-earned."
"Punishment? Perhaps one could use that word, but I see it as a form of the Sea Witch's compassion."
"There's nothing compassionate about debtor being raked across the coals."
"Compassion is not just kindness, Jamil-san. Compassion is also the sternness that comes from a place of caring. The Sea Witch surely must have also been heartbroken to turn her anger on a client whom she placed her trust in. Were she to leave the mermaid to be, the mermaid would likely run amok and commit the same acts of betrayal unto others. Her lesson would not be learned."
Azul shrugged. "You see? The Sea Witch is truly benevolent and merciful, even when she lets loose her rage."
"What a twisted mind you have. I can't say I disagree with the course of action though.”
“Poor, unfortunate little mermaid,” Azul cooed. “She longed to change herself for true love, risking the life she knew for the uncertainty of new opportunities.”
“Hmph, a person who desperately wants to change themselves?” Jamil’s mouth cocked into a smirk. “Now who does that remind us of, hmm?”
He was met with a bitter laugh.
“The world can be a harsh place,” Azul said, his response evasive. “I wonder if the mermaid was able to finally face it.”
What would she have done if her optimism had been crushed under the weight of a cruel reality? What if her new self was rejected after all her struggles and sacrifices? What if her efforts were all for naught?
What if, what if, what if.
What if he was the same as her?
The inept octopus. Not smart, not particularly good at swimming, too bulky. Sobbing in his private little pot, the inky tear trails a dead giveaway to his location.
Nice clothes, good grades, and lifestyle changes couldn’t bury that past in the sand. It was not enough—would never be enough.
Once, he would have desired to kick her down. To see a sand castle fall apart at his own hand, to relish in the destruction. Wipe away proof of his old incompetence.
Be rid of it forever.
Now, he knelt and encircled it with his arms, Hugged that piece of him against himself, reassured it with compassionate words.
You’re here.
You’re a part of me.
I will never reject you again.
“… Change is as natural and as common as the coming and going of the tides. Why fear the tides—why fear change?”
Why deny what I was then, and who I am now?
Then, donning his brightest—and perhaps most genuine—smile, Azul faced Jamil head-on.
“It is by the grace of the Sea Witch that we were able to learn such a valuable life lesson at no cost to ourselves! Isn’t that wonderful?”

Sorry to bother you but may I ask if you have a masterlist of your platonic reader works and your non reader works (like the union ones) without reader
Tumblr media
I sort my regular masterlists by character and temporal order, not by type of content. The Make your Vows masterlist 1 and 2 are only mainly romantic requests because that was the nature of the particular blog event they are associated with.
Please check out my page of masterlists for general requests and other blog events. I will, however, caution that a lot of those pieces are also romantic and/or reader-inserts, so you’ll have to sift through them to find the ones that are platonic and/or canon characters only. You’ll usually be able to tell from the bullet points; if it doesn’t mention “S/O”/“crush” or “MC”/“Reader”, then it is most likely platonic or involves only the canon characters.
To get you started, here are some of my personal favorite platonic and/or canon character only works that I’ve written:
Birthday Imagines and/or interactions! (you need to look for the “[TWST boy’s first name] Birthday Takeover” tag, depending on the character you are looking for)
Twisted Tarot
Magic Mystery Letters
Delights in Bites (platonic and romantic pieces are labelled on this one)
Gordon Ramsay in Twisted Wonderland series (yes, it’s an ongoing series 😂 one for each Master Chef/Culinary Crucible)
Babysitting Baby Octavinelle Part 1 / Part 2
Adeuce and Grim comfort an exhausted Yuu
Working at McDonald’s
Cater takes Malleus to a Maid Cafe
Beach trip with the first years
Idia finds Leona swarmed by cats
Beach trip with Octavinelle and Scarabia
Ortho cooks for Idia
First years as dorm leaders

Jamil, Sebek: How the Other Half Lives
I’m going to attempt to write a short fic about each birthday boy and their interviewer for the second set of birthday cards. These fics won’t necessarily be set on a birthday, but could be leading up to it or set after the party (since the Union birthday cards already tell a complete story from start to end). We’ll just have to see how things pan out!
First up, Jamil and Sebek! Two servants with two very different views on their masters...
Unrelated side note: it’s funny how Jamil says he would want to be in Ignihyde, but he’s celebrating his birthday kidnapped and being held in a dark room until Idia pulls up to experiment on him--

Imagine this...
Tumblr media
Kalim pressed a warm, wet washcloth against Jamil’s cheek. Moving in a circular motion, Kalim gently swept away the clouds of whipped cream dotting the grimacing birthday boy’s face--casualties of an annual tradition. Afterwards, he wrung the dirtied cloth over a bucket, coloring the water within a milky white.
Plip, plop. Drops rippled in its surface, the disturbed face of a mirror, before the contents of the bucket stilled once more.
Jamil caught a glimpse of his reflection. His face had slightly slimmed over the course of the past year. His eyes, sharper, and his hair, longer--now reaching the small of his back. It was still him in every sense.
Older, wiser.
More crafty.
“Sebek got you good, huh?” Kalim laughed, clapping his friend on the back. “And it looks like you got Sebek good too!”
“He got what was coming to him,” Jamil said flatly. His eyes briefly passed over to the aforementioned first year, who was busy cleaning himself up from the aftermath of retaliation. Jamil allowed himself a small smirk, relishing in his victory.
“Gahahah! Well, as long as you’re enjoying yourself, then I’m happy.” Kalim hung his washcloth on the rim of the bucket and straightened. “You haven’t had the chance to eat anything yet, right? Since you just got pied, how about some pie?”
“Pie is the last thing I want to see right now.”
“Okay, so a slice of cake instead! I’ll grab you one, just wait right here!”
“That’s kind of you, but I’m capable of fetching my own... aaand he’s gone.” Jamil held his head in his hands and sighed. Kalim had dashed off halfway through his sentence, making a beeline toward a table filled with food and crowded with party guests.
Best to not interfere... Not that interfering would stop him.
“Ohoh! I’m jealous of you, Jamil-senpai!”
His eyes cut to the owner of the booming voice--Sebek. “... Really, now? Jealous of me? I can’t imagine why.”
“Is it not clear?” Sebek clenched a hand into a fist. “To have your master fret for your wellbeing...! Being personally wiped up and hand-delivered food from one’s master...!! Are you not overjoyed?! THERE CAN BE NO GREATER HONOR!!”
Jamil winced at his spiking volume, his mouth pursing into a frown. “I’m absolutely overflowing with happiness. Can’t you tell that I’m ecstatic?”
He paused, just to let the sarcasm-soaked words sink into his junior’s mind. Then Jamil spat, “Those are normal, everyday things. I do not see what is considered to be an ‘honor’ there.”
“Tsk! You are ungrateful for your blessings!” Sebek scoffed, eyebrows angrily knitting together. “Or is it that you have become so accustomed to Kalim-senpai’s kindness that it no longer fazes you?! Oh, what I would give to have been childhood friends with the Young Master... Yet here you are, taking it for granted!! FOR SHAME!!”
“You seem to be misunderstanding a great number of things.” Jamil groaned, shaking his head. “To begin with, we did not choose to be ‘friends’. It was a fate already determined for us from the moment we came into this world. Secondly, that kindness of Kalim’s that you speak of is more of a hinderance than a help. And lastly...”
His eyes shone darkly.
“My position is certainly no blessing.”
Sebek looked aghast. “You don’t mean that!! There is nothing more grand than protecting and serving one’s master!”
“For you, perhaps. But consider that not everyone possesses the same mindset as yourself.” Jamil folded his arms, his gaze turning steely. “You chose your life of knighthood. My fate is already laid out for me. The same one as my ancestors, and surely the same as future incarnations of the Viper clan. Forever bound to the Asims... Servants in the shadows. Surely you can see why I would have my reservations.”
“Hmph! If you are unhappy, then you do not deserve to serve as you currently do. Simply resign, and allow Kalim-senpai to find a more fitting candidate!”
“If that were possible, I would have done so long ago.” A barely discernable bitterness had seeped into Jamil’s voice. The slight, metallic tang of poison slipped into one’s drink. “Kalim can only live as carefreely as he does because he is ignorant. He will never truly understand me.”
Through clear skies and rain, the sun ultimately cares not for the shadows it casts. It shines superficially, its golden light gilded.
“... That’s not true.”
“What?”
“I said,” Sebek bellowed, “THAT’S NOT TRUE AT ALL, JAMIL-SENPAI!!”
He jolted back, startled by the loud declaration. “You... What would you know? You barely understand my predicament yourself.”
“It’s true that the Young Master and I lack the same history that you and Kalim-senpai do. Even so...!! That is all the more reason for you to be open with one another!!!”
“Open with one another? You must be joking. As if Kalim could possibly--”
“How do you know?” Sebek demanded, cutting him off. “How do you know if you’ve never tried?!”
“That’s...” Jamil faltered with his words.
The first year continued. “Though I have devoted my life to the Young Master, I do not claim to know him in his entirety. There is so much more I have yet to learn. So much more I want to learn. With every new detail gleaned, I find myself respecting the Young Master more and more. That’s why... you should make the effort as well, Jamil-senpai!”
“I can already name Kalim’s likes, dislikes, fears, and faults off the top of my head.”
“Surface level details!” Sebek slammed a hand against his chest--over his heart. “I doubt you have ever had a true heart-to-heart. Expressing your genuine, most raw emotions to one another... Then, and only then, can you ‘understand’.”
This coming from the person who cried because he was not on the same team as Malleus-senpai... And threw a fit when he had to leave for camping and leave his Dorm Leader unattended to... And cried again because the cookie he was gifted from Malleus-senpai was crushed...
“... Why does it matter to you that I do this? Worry about yourself and your ‘Young Master’.”
“Hmph! Is it so wrong of me to wish the birthday boy happiness?”
“You think I will find happiness in understanding Kalim? And in him understanding me?” Challenge rose in Jamil’s tone. “Is that right?”
“You won’t know until you try. Admitting defeat before even attempting... that is a COWARD’S way out!”
“Are you calling me a coward?”
“I’m calling on you to change. It is a new year, full of new possibilities. There is no better time to improve oneself--so you can look back on your next birthday, and be proud!”
“Sebek... ” Jamil closed his eyes. For a moment, he looked thoughtful. Contemplating something he alone could fathom. When his eyes flared open again, they glittered with mischief. “I appreciate the advice. Let me thank you for it with another free pie to the face.”
“Wha--”
SPLAT!!
Fast as a viper lashing out, Jamil grabbed a whipped cream pie from a nearby table and chucked it at Sebek. It was a direct hit on the unsuspecting first year, who stumbled back from the impact, his back slamming into the wall. Cream clung to Sebek’s eyebrows, cheeks, and chin, giving the appearance of bushy white brows and a beard.
“YOU COWARD, GOING FOR A SNEAK ATTACK!!” he roared. “YOU SHALL RECEIVE YOUR COMEUPPANCE--”
“Sorry for taking so long, Jamil!” Kalim cried, skidding inbetween the two boys. He balanced a large slice of cake in his hands, a fork piercing it. “I saw some friends at the food table and got caught up in talking to them!”
“... Eh? Am I interrupting something?” The Scarabia Dorm Leader paused, glancing back and forth between Jamil and Sebek. Then, Kalim broke out into a wide smile. “Ohhhh, I get it! You’re making a new friend! Gahahah! That’s great, Jamil!!”
“Right... Friend.”
More like another headache and a half.

"HI JAMIL!" *Kalim waves his hand vigorously to catch Jamil's attention* "It's me with Light Music Club! We are going to sing Happy Birthday for you! Enjoy the show!" -- Kalim
“Excuse me? You brought the Light Music Club with you?!” Jamil arches an eyebrow, drinking in the sight of Lilia balancing a mic stand in one hand and a guitar in the other, and Cater pushing in a massive drum set. Horror sets in on Jamil’s face when he realizes that Kalim is very much being serious.
“Yup!” Kalim chirps. “Just sit back and relax! It’s your special day, right?”
“Please tell me you’re not going to perform a screamo rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’...Please, please tell me you’re not,” Jamil pleads, bringing fingers to his temples to fight the incoming migraine.
“Of course not!” Kalim reassures him with a laugh. “It’s gonna be a heavy metal version!”
“...And what in the name of the Great Seven makes you think that is any better than screamo?”
“Because I know you don’t like it when people scream, Jamil! You always say it causes more trouble for you, so we had that in mind while we were composin’!”
“Yo, can I move the drums over here?”
“Where is our stage to be, little one?”
“No, you cannot move the drums there!” Jamil snaps. “And there will be no such stage...!”
“Eh? But how else are we gonna put on a show for you?” Kalim asks, tilting his head to one side.
“Just sing the song normally!!”

"Ah, Jamil-san!" Azul adjusts his glasses, thrusting out a small box, an offering for his classmate's. "Kalim-san told me your birthday was coming up, and I may have indulged a bit. Don't worry, this gift comes completely free of charge, no strings attached." A sly smile as he basically shoves it into Jamil's hand. Inside is a hair bauble, gold. "However, if you ever feel like you'd like to show your appreciation for my generosity, of course the Mostro Lounge would gladly take your patronage."
“Spare me your flattery, octopus,” Jamil spits, shoving the small box--and the golden hair bauble--back into Azul’s hands. “I would rather shovel sand into my mouth for every meal than even consider eating at that backwater eatery of yours.”
“Aaaah, Jamil-san...how could you reject my kindness?” Azul cries, wiping at an imaginary tear. “Oh, you’ve wounded me...!”
“Do you think I’m unintelligent enough to accept a trinket from the likes of you?” the birthday boy hisses. “Claiming that there are no strings attached only makes you appear more suspicious. Take your damn gift back.”
“I insist that you keep it.”
“No, I insist.”
“No, I insist, Jamil-san.”
“It is my birthday, and what I say goes.”
“If it is your birthday, then you will graciously accept all presents,” Azul points out with a grin. “including ones from those you claim to despise.”
“I DON’T JUST CLAIM TO DESPISE YOU, I TRULY DO DESPITE YOU.”
“Kufufu. They argue like an old, married couple,” Lilia remarks. He turns to Kalim and Cater. “Perhaps we should consider playing an even louder song next, just to drown out their squabbling.”

jamil!! we're birthday twins 🥳 i hope your birthday was just as good as mine!
We come to a close.
Tumblr media
“Today was certainly...something,” Jamil declares, unable to come up with a more concise phrase to sum up the chaos. “Kalim always tries to do something bigger and better for my birthday every year, and this year is not much different.”
“Although...this time, the celebration was a bit scaled down. No massive parades or anything, just music and food. Well, there were a few wild animals roaming about, but nothing close to an army of peacocks flooding the room, or elephants stomping all over.”
“O-Oi! I’m not a dumb ol’ animal, yanno! I’m the great Grim-sama!!”
“Polly wanna cracker! Squawk! Polly wanna cracker!!”
“Mild disturbances and ratty attic venue aside, I did receive a number of highly thoughtful gifts. And...I did have a bit of fun conversing with my fans and supporters.”
“...From the bottom of my heart, thank you. You have made my birthday this year something truly special--and I say that with the utmost sincerity.”
Jamil beams into his cup--
--as mysterious as the dark side of the moon, but as bright as a golden scarab in the sunlight.

Jamil do you have any idea of how dangerous you are? You dont even need to use snake whisper to make people listen to you when your ordinary voice already makes me want to bow down and serve you! -If you ever do a voice asmr recording I will die on the spot- And on top of that you have to be so smart and beautiful as well! Are you trying to kill everyone with brainrot? Take responsibility for taking over our hearts and minds Jamil!
“I’m afraid that I cannot.” His tongue flits out and traces the corner of his mouth. “You were the ones feeble-minded enough to fall for a snake’s charm. I accept zero responsibility for the ‘brain rot’ you claim to experience so intensely. Continue to suffer.”
Even as he is shit talking you, his voice is so relaxing to listen to...
Rhythmic, even, and controlled.
You cannot help but nod and agree with him.

So jamil if I may ask how did it feel to get pied by your basketball team mates? thinking of getting revenge on them when their birthdays roll around?
“It was awful.”
A curt answer. The details of the event are etched onto his face, every crease and crinkle denoting his irritation.
“They ambushed me after basketball practice. Smeared crust, filling, and whipped cream all over. It got into my hair--that took an eternity to wash out. What’s worse is those imbeciles thought it to be funny enough to broadcast and snap photos for MagiCam...”
“I am going to kill the both of them,” he declares darkly. “Mark my words.”
“...However, I’m not stupid enough to challenge Floyd to a one-on-one fight,” Jamil sighs, “but Ace had better watch his back. If I recall correctly, his birthday is not too long after mine. I do believe that would be the perfect time for some...payback.”

Welcome, Jamil.
Tumblr media
{September 11th to September 13th}
Please read the *Birthday Blog Takeover Submission Rules.*
“To think that I would be summoned for something as trivial as this...honestly. It would do you good to be more mindful of my other obligations.”
“My bad.” The raven is curt, yet tactful, when handling the snake. “I was really in need of assistance. Who better to ask than Scarabia’s esteemed vice-dorm leader?”
Jamil wears an exasperated expression as he shakes his head. His eyes are sharp, angular—like the blade of a poisoned dagger.
No—perhaps he is poison itself. But the words that spill from his lips are only slightly tinged with annoyance today.
“...I suppose I can indulge you, just this once. It’s not as though I can return to Scarabia at the moment—otherwise I would never even entertain the idea. Kalim has banned me from the premises while he prepares a ‘surprise’ birthday party.”
A sigh.
Jamil folds his arms.
“Hmph. It’s not much of a surprise if he blatantly announces it like that. Kalim...he seriously has no sense of self-awareness.”
“He cares for you,” Raven points out, remaining patient with him.
“Please,” Jamil scoffs, “Of course he does. Only an absolute idiot like Kalim would continue to care for someone that went after his position, and his life. He lacks a sense of self-preservation, too.”
“Wow, look at you worrying over him like a mother hen. You’re such great friends.” Sarcasm coats the raven’s tongue like a thick layer of honey.
Something sweet to contrast his bitterness.
“Stop that—stop that right this instant,” he snaps, mouth forming a frown. “I’ve already agreed to your silly proposal, have I not? I could just as easily retract my decision.”
“Right, right. Sorry, Jamil-sama. Please stay and help this poor, unfortunate bird out, Jamil-sama.”
“Hmph. That’s better.” The birthday boy smirks. “Make space in that dusty attic of yours, Raven-san. You’ll be hosting this Viper until further notice.”

“Jaaaaaamil!!! I know you don’t like flash things, so I cancelled the parade! And made a cake instead! Yes, I baked it myself!” Kalim runs in Jamil’s direction to congratulate his dear friend. “Jamil, look! Look! I made it your favorite flavor and-” He tripped... and the cake flew... on Jamil’s face. “Awawawa- Im sorrrrryyy!!” 🥺
“...Kalim.”
“Y-Yes, Jamil?”
“...Help me clean up. Now.”
“R-Right...!!”
Kalim scrambles to grab a towel, wetting it before pressing the cloth to Jamil’s face. Wiping away stray sponge cake and frosting.
“I’m really, really, sorry...!” he apologizes, wringing the towel before going in to scrub at Jamil’s suit. Kalim’s voice trembles, though he wears a smile. A forced one.
“What are you apologizing for, exactly?”
“I...I wanted to do something nice for you, but I just royally screwed up again,” Kalim laughs awkwardly. “Look, I got you and your fancy birthday clothes all dirty.”
“You did.” Jamil agrees. He speaks slowly, methodically. “...But you did go out of your way to try and make this day special, with the musical performance and the cake--even if neither were quite up to my standards. I cannot fault you for trying. It’s...the thought that counts.”
He instantly regrets his words when he gazes upon Kalim’s teary face.
“J-Jamil...!! JAMILLLLL!!” Kalim sobs loudly, throwing his arms around him (despite still covered in cake and frosting). “I love you so, so much, Jamil...!!  You’re my bestest friend, forever and ever and ever!!”
“H-Hey...!! L-Let go!! I never said I was your friend...! We are rivals, RIVALS!” Jamil sputters, fighting against the assault. “K-Kalim!! KALIM!!”

Happy birthday Jamil!! May I present a lovely gift that a friend and I worked painstakingly hard for to give to you?
Tumblr media
If you want, we have a huge stock of these, enough for the Scarabia dorm, so you can practice safety protocols during this time! Stay safe, practice social distancing, and happy birthday once again!
Jamil holds one of your custom face masks in his hands, staring down at that cursed image of his Overblot form--lacking a nose, with his mouth tiny and pinched all the way up to where his eyes are. And that text. How he loathes that phrase.
His blood boils, hotter than any day in the scorching sands.
He crushes the face mask in a clenched fist and gives a low, vindictive laugh. “You and your friend can practice social distancing by being banned from the birthday banquet.”

Hi hi jamil! Guess who bought pinatas for your birthday bash? I wasnt sure if they would be your type of present so i asked the store if they had any shaped like octopi or eel! And they had both! So i got all three for you :)
Jamil slowly raises his golf club replica of the Sorcerer’s staff, a murderous glint in his eyes.
“Mount the piñatas, and I shall not show any mercy to them.”
