saw the new wicked trailer and i hate ar*ana gr*nde and the blandness of it all + haven’t thought about wicked the musical since i saw it live at age thirteen, but i just got blasted with thoschei rays of a magnitude of 10 on the richter scale. childhood friends polar opposites with an inextricable bond studying at some morally questionable Magical Academy one of them is perpetually misunderstood and goes crazyinsane because evil is what is Expected of them. and emerald city in the new movie looks like the gallifrey citadel. do you get me
then i remembered there’s literally a canon doctor who novel (that i’ll get around to reading someday) in which thirteen somehow finds herself stranded in the land of oz and missy is quite literally the wicked witch of the west. and they actually interact. complete with toxic yuri subtext and everything. so i guess i’m not the only one !!

It was that depressing time in the early morning where the only people about were milkmen, police officers- and time travellers.

Just an audio clip/appreciation post for the wonderful book (AKA canon fanfiction) known as ‘The Stone Rose’ by Jacqueline Rayner. This is near the end of the story, where the Doctor has Rose cross into his timeline to assist his past self [who’s desperately searching for her after he learns she’s been turned to stone].
The audiobook is narrated by David Tennant, because of course it is:
Rose had just settled down and adjusted the metal box thing over her mouth, when the door to the shrine opened. She peered through Fortuna’s legs and saw that, yes, it was the Doctor. He saw the statue. She shrank back as he hurried forward. . . and then he realised that it wasn’t her.
Rose was taken aback. She hadn’t known - how could she know? - what her disappearance had done to him. This Doctor had a look of such despair in his eyes that her heart almost stopped in pity. She wanted more than anything else in the world to jump up, go to him, tell him that everything was going to be all right.
But, what with possibly ripping time and space apart, that was probably a bad idea.
‘Rose is prettier than you,’ the Doctor suddenly said.

Who knows what he might have gone on to discover, if his passion had not received a killing blow at such an impressionable age? Never mess with people's dreams- that's my advice to you. The smallest action can have huge consequences.

Reviewed: Big Finish’s Classic Doctors New Monsters Volume 4 – Broken Memories
Reviewed: @bigfinish’s #DoctorWho Classic Doctors New Monsters Volume 4 – Broken Memories
The fourth volume of Big Finish’s Classic Doctors New Monsters takes the range to a new level, this time solely focusing on three Steven Moffat creations. They’re so unique in different ways, they don’t disappoint. And isn’t it a funny coincidence that the anthology was released a few days before the exciting announcement of Moffat returning to write an episode for Season 1 (or as I prefer to…

The Duplicated Man (James Blish and Robert Lowndes) "The central premise of this novel concerns a cloning device that requires six different people, one for each duplicate to be created, to be hooked into the machine. Turns out while the memories are copied the personalities and appearances are affected by the subjective views of the various individuals. E.g., one copy is actually a bit shorter and more cowardly than the original because that's how its creator perceived the original while another due to her hero worship was a physically and mentally perfected version of the original."
EarthWorld (Jacqueline Rayner) "Synopsis: "Anji Kapoor has just had the worst week of her entire life, and things aren't getting any better. She should be back at her desk, not travelling through time and space in a police box with a couple of strange men.
The Doctor (Strange Man No. 1) is supposed to be returning her to Soho 2001 AD. So quite why there are dinosaurs outside, Anji isn't sure. Sad sixties refugee Fitz (Strange Man No. 2) seems to think they're either in prehistoric times or on a parallel Earth. And the Doctor is probably only pretending to know what's going on — because if he really knew, surely he would have mentioned the homicidal triplet princesses, the teen terrorists, the deadly android doubles (and triples) and the hosts of mad robots?
Anji's never going to complain about Monday mornings in the office again… "
Why it's Stranger: The setting alone is uncannily bizarre -- a theme park on one of Jupiter's moons devoted to Earth history, with research drawn from mistranslations, myths, and popular fiction. Sinister androids populate the place, and everyone is hiding the most terrible secrets. Meanwhile, Fitz Kreiner is having an identity crisis about being a clone, which is only made worse when he has to battle an Elvis impersonator to the death."

The Lone Centurion : Volume One
So my last listen was this, and I have to be honest, I really love Rory but however didn't expect much of this since I didn't think he would be able to carry a whole boxset of his own, but I was totally wrong! He definitely rocks it all and it never feels out of character, so I felt really surprised but at the same time not really, it's just very well written and really funny.
I liked Gladiator and The Unwilling Assassin the most because they were really funny and got a bit bored by I, Rorius, however I really liked Rory's confrontation with Marinus on how each of them view the way society works and should work. Marinus' view of a society balanced through violence opposed to Rory's modern and occidental approach to violence is really interesting and improved the whole story to me.

It's honestly criminal, that Kate Orman and Jacqueline Rayner didn't write more Bernice Summerfield and Doctor Who novels.

‘Oh, yes,’ she was told. ‘Elves, pixies, gnomes - the Moomins, Chorlton and The Wheelies, Spongebob Squarepants - they all tried to invade you at some point. There was a galactic inquiry when Robocop came out. And as for the five famous justices of the future who disguised themselves as four children  and a dog (although I think the dog was a mistake) in order to wipe out the crimes of kidnapping and smuggling for all eternity - well, I think they are still trapped in a time loop somewhere with nothing but ginger beer and potted-meat sandwiches to sustain them. Not to mention Miss Marple - Miss Martian, more like. Used her truth ray to get all those confessions until the Time Police tracked her down. Zapped her and the whole of St Mary Mead out of existence. Which is a shame, because there was a lovely little cafe in the high street where they did brilliant custard tarts.’ ‘Is that true?’ Vanessa gasped. ‘No,’ said Rose. ‘You learn to ignore about one word in five he says. I mean, he was pretending to be Poirot earlier. He's in that sort of mood.’
