Tell me the Pokémon music thoughts??? :000

TWO whole Pokemon music asks WOOHOO!!!!! These past few days I’ve been on a kick of listening to Scarlet and Violet’s OST and downloading my faves (since I wanted to wait until the DLC had been released and then play through it fully before doing so) and it might be one of my favorite soundtracks to date. That being said here are the tracks I’m currently the most feral about:

Battle! (Team Star Boss)

The loop for this one is almost SIX MINUTES LONG which is a smart choice for how long and difficult some of these fights tend to be—and it’s six minutes of pure unadulterated musical goodness. Obviously the killer synths and guitars are a highlight here, but what really makes this theme (and the rest of the Team Star themes) special is how the harsh instrumentation is contrasted with sections containing emotional melodies and harmonies that give a sense of determination and hope—which fits in with Team Star’s storyline as former victims of bullying and doing their best to persevere in spite of that. All their themes are also composed by one of their bosses in-universe which is a fun lore detail (shoutout to my boy Giacomo I love him <3)

South Province

This one basically functions as the theme of the Paldea Region—this leitmotif (composed by our beloved Toby Fox) appears a LOT in various places within the soundtrack, particularly in cutscenes. It’s a great theme for exploring out and about in the game’s open world, and the sunny A major is a great key choice which is always a win in my book. I’m also a big fan of the piano version that plays while you’re walking in the overworld (as opposed to using your mount Koraidon/Miraidon) as well as the beautiful arrangement used at the end of the main story (if I had a nickel for every time a piano theme at the end of a Pokemon game made me cry I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice).

Showdown! (Champion Kieran)

I haven’t had a lot of time to get myself acquainted with much of the DLC soundtrack, but I wanted to include at least one in this list because there’s a lot of quality stuff worth shouting out. This is the last of Kieran’s three battle themes (technically there’s four but the final one isn’t a full battle and is mostly comprised of Terapagos’ motif as opposed to his own so I’m omitting it here) and there’s an interesting transformation that happens across each of them—it starts out mostly with traditional instrumentation and only mild chromaticism (which almost all battle themes have at least a little of) but transforms into something harsher by adding electric guitars/synths and more dissonant, darker harmonies (this one makes heavy use of Phrygian and Locrian elements—Phrygian is a mode that’s very similar to the minor scale but uses a flat 2nd scale degree, so for a piece in E minor like this one that would mean using an F natural as opposed to an F#. Locrian is the same as Phrygian but with a flat 5 added as well, meaning B♭ as opposed to B natural. These flat notes serve to darken the overall sound), which corresponds to Kieran’s arc of becoming bitter and resentful as he suffers repeated losses at the hands of the player. I’m also tickled by the fact that his battle themes are all in E minor which is the softest and gentlest minor to my ears—you can hide under those edgy guitars all you want Kieran but we all know you’re still baby :3

Area Zero

And we’ve saved the best for last because this is hands down my FAVORITE theme from this game; it’s not even a contest. I have such a vivid memory of playing through Scarlet for the first time a year ago and being incredibly intrigued about what was hiding in the massive crater at the region’s center (I tried flying/leaping in with Koraidon and lurking outside the Zero Gate yelling “LET ME INNNN” more times than I can count lmao)—and I was not at all disappointed when I got there because this is straight up one of the prettiest areas in the whole game. However. HOWEVER. NOTHING could have possibly prepared me for the breathtakingly beautiful music that accompanies this place—I remember stopping in my tracks as soon as I heard that low brass kick in, and then the chanting. Oh my lord the CHANTING. Honestly I was sold right then and there but WE’RE STILL NOT DONE MAKING THE MUSIC OF THE GODS BECAUSE SWEET MOTHER MARY THAT SYNTH????? TOOK ME THE FUCK OUT—I lose my everliving shit at anything even resembling an erhu in music because its voice-like timbre is so…raw and emotional in a way I really don’t know how to describe; all I know is it rocks me to my core to the point that I have to watch my breathing when I listen to a piece that has one lest I start hyperventilating (because it’s powerful enough to literally induce a physiological response out of me). Needless to say I was frozen in place for at LEAST ten minutes just to take it all in; that initial experience was utterly magical and I wish more than anything I could go back in time to live that feeling again.

But that very long preface aside, there are a couple other things about this piece worth noting—the first being that E♭ minor is an IMMACULATE key choice in my opinion. In my synesthesia it primarily represents what I call “the crushing black weight of despair,” but it also functions very nicely in any intense, high-stakes situation, which fits beautifully with the circumstances surrounding Area Zero in-game. It’s a walled garden filled with invasive wildlife from the distant past/future that poses an imminent threat to Paldea’s ecosystem should they find a means of escaping to the outside; in fact, we learn from the professor that some species have already managed to do so. I also quite like how the instrumentation is vastly different from every other piece of music you’ll hear in Paldea’s overworld, which has primarily been orchestral arrangements up to this point—but here, it’s a blend of primal and futuristic sounds that perfectly captures the collision of the present and the past/future. So yeah if you couldn’t tell I am so so so so unhinged about everything this theme represents and I fully expect to be just as mentally unwell about it YEARS down the line (because believe me, I’ve certainly got the track record for it).

Scarlet and Violet’s music is just so so good—and again, obligatory “this is just the tip of the iceberg that is everything I love about this soundtrack” but I hope you enjoyed my insights into what makes this music so special!

✨ i do work with other pokemon for academic and ‘helping classmates with training’ and demonstration reasons, but my team is all tatsugiri! (don’t ask about how long i hang out and look for them to have found shinies like this. don’t ask) they are as follows:

🤍 twitch, shiny droopy tatsugiri! he’s my first pokemon i caught and own, since i’m not the one who’s the OT for the family pets. he’s really cute-looking but he’s a total manipulator and will steal food right out of your hands if you don’t watch him </3 the others tend to listen to him, so he helps me keep a lid on things when everyone’s out at once! very helpful little guy outside of his shenanigans. if i can only keep one of my pokemon out at a given moment, usually he’s my go-to.

❤️‍🩹 kirby, regular droopy tatsugiri, and towards ME, he’s very sweet. buuuut he’s a bottomless pit and likes to try to hunt a lot though, so i can’t let him hang out around a lot of flying-type pokemons or trainers who specialize with them :[ i’m doing what i can to try to curb and redirect this behavior, any advice from others in a similar boat is very much welcomed

🤎 choco, shiny curly tatsugiri, she’s very much cuddly. note to anyone who hasn’t pet a tatsugiri before: they are slimy-feeling and they keep themselves wet so if they flop on your shoes you WILL get wet socks so keep that in mind when i say she will almost Always curl up next to me if we’re settling for the night and she’s out of her ball and there’s nowhere better (aka, a lake) to sleep.

❤️ figy, regular curly tatsugiri, she’s the biggest of the bunch and is pretty mild-mannered and chill. i think she was a clodsire in a past life tbh... i HAVE made sure it’s not a health issue since at first i was worried it could be some kind of lethargy, but she’s just older than the rest and has a laid back personality, clean bill of health otherwise.

🧡 stripes, shiny stretchy tatsugiri, he is sunny’s big brother! they’re inseparable. they’re the youngest of the bunch, very playful with each other, though stripes is a bit nervous around strangers.

💛 sunny, regular stretchy tatsugiri, she is stripes’ little sister :] she’s a bit more brave with new faces than stripes is, she’s helped get him out of his shell. really likes cheese.

irl i am a biology major, so my activity will probably flux as the semester progresses since it’s the last one before graduation and i can NOT fuck up my grades. if i go inactive dw abt it, i probably got busy or distracted :]

when it comes to my interpretation of pokemon its like schrodingers cat when it comes to People just over-anthropomorphize their behaviors Vs they are all quite intelligent like in the anime. its like the way people talk about cats on the internet but being a cat owner and knowing cats can really be Like That. like yeah tatsugiri are probably very smart but also i do see them as coldblooded little bird eaters and dondozo egg-destroyers being little brood parasites. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

also if it bothers anyone i do hc ppl eat pokemon outside of those that r mentioned in the pokedex bc how else do you get the beef for paldean hamburger patties than the local tauros + miltank. and also bc i think pidgey tenders should be real. i will make an effort to minimize talk of it on the blog fr those that dont hc that or dont like the implications but i am a pokechicken nugget truther

It was a sunny day in Galar. Giacomo, who was from Paldea, was a exchange student at Marnie's school. Speaking of Marnie, she decided to approach her new schoolmate. The boy noticed her. "Oh! You're Gym Leader Marnie! Nice to meet you!"

"It's nice to meet you too, Giacomo! I'm always happy to see someone appreciating dark types!" Marnie said with a small smile. "Amen!" Giacomo chimed in. He was smiling too. It was the beginning of a new friendship.

First morning moving into a new house is always weird, but the first morning in a nee house after a whirlwind of a move felt even weirder.

The walls are old in age, but new in feeling, this house had been standing for ages despite the march of time, and she could only wonder of the other families that have called it home at some point… Idle musings, of course. The pokemon are released out back, immediately sniffing or digging around to familiarize themselves with their new home.

Bappy finds a pond to splash in with Paprika, Smudge and Finn.

Adniel and Fafnir exchange blows on a patch of dry mud.

Kamina shows Kage how to dig in the mud like a proper mole, even if his son isn’t quite equipped for that yet.

The Don finds a sunny spot to lounge in with Goggles, and Gremlin zips between the groups, entertaining himself by shoving the others and playing pranks.

Bappy tells him off.

It’s peaceful.

She can’t remember the last time she woke up without a plan for the day ahead. She doesn’t start work for Silph co. Until Monday, and she really doesn’t feel like mass unpacking yet. One box a day will be good, she thinks, no need to overwhelm herself.

She really should get started on fixing the more egregious blemishes. That’ll be her goal for the week, and then maybe invite whoever can to a small housewarming.

And then she still needs to start on the gym challenge, too. She may be an elite in Paldea, but her Gym badges from there only get her so far.

…What a wild life she has ahead of her.

Nalo

🐉 Overview 🐉

Name: Nalomauna “Nalo” Woods

Gender: Demigirl (She/Her/They/Them)

Sexuality: Bisexual

Info:

Nalo is a student of Naranja Academy from Alola, and president of a Pokemon racing club she started: The Comets. She takes the place of the main character for Pokémon Scarlet (but doesn’t perfectly slide into the role). She’s also a boss of Team Star, and specializes in Dragon-Dark Types, and she has prosthetic legs.

She leads the Polaris Squad, located just outside Alfornada protecting a mountain top spring (where Nalo had a secret garden). The base has a reputation of being strong but also super chill unless threatened.

🐉 Personality 🐉

Nalo’s personality is very similar to Holden Caulfield from “Catcher in The Rye”. When you first meet her, she’s typically annoyed and hates interacting with other people. But her rough exterior is more so a defensiveness against being hurt by others. She hates therapy because it makes her feel like some experiment, and she has a habit of getting defensive when people get close to her issues.

She’s Native Alolan and is very dedicated to preserving Alolan culture.

She’s slowly learning about herself and she likes more “girly outfits” casually.

🐉 Relationships 🐉

Nalo loves her Uncle Kuahi Woods… except she never met him. He worked for the International Police and supposedly died in a car crash some years before she was born. When she was born, her grandpa noticed how much she resembled him and named her “Nalomauna” in respect to him (Her name means “Lost Mountain”. “Kuahi” is Hawaiian for “Somewhere”, and is short for “Hua Kuahiwi”, which combined with his last name makes: “Wood’s Hau Kuahiwi”, the nickname for “Hibiscadelphus woodii”, a plant species that was believed to be extinct, until 2019 when three individuals were found on a cliffside). She also had a close relationship with her grandfather who died when she was young, he always taught her about Alolan history and beliefs.

Nalo joined Team Star sometime after coming to Paldea and is close to all the bosses. She likes hearing Atticus ramble about art, she affectionately teases Giacomo a lot, Ortega loves racing her and they’re friendly rivals, and Eri often tries to keep her from getting hurt or in danger (but nothing can stop Nalo from having her fun)…. They also just straight-up fight sometimes. She’s closest to Mela who developed a crush on her, they’re just a pair of chaos-causing friends.

Nalo helped Penny bring down Team Star to protect them, and between missions became close friends with her. Nalo affectionately teases her and visits her a lot, and usually likes helping her pull pranks. After Starfall, not much changes, she still teases Penny, but they just have the addition of being members of Team Star.

She befriends Arven after she discovers Toothless (more on him later) and they slowly bond as they battled Titans and collected Herba Mystica. Neglectful mothers and absent fathers make them sympathize with each other, and mutual teasing and friendly fights make them best friends. They also mutually call “bullshit” on each other when the other starts going quiet about stuff that’s bothering them.

Nemona and her are rivals to enemies to friends to girlfriends. Nemona’s cheery and sunny disposition clashes with Nalo’s cynicism, but they get along it’s part of the reason why they like each other. Nemona often tries to get Nalo to see the bright side and be a part of the school community, and Nalo gives Nemona the brutal honesty she needs sometimes. She and Nemona start dating sometime during Teal Mask (which I place after Indigo Disk) after both realizing how much they loved the other’s company.

Nurse Miriam was the first adult that Nalo felt she can talk to honestly. She visited Miriam’s office very often, be it to talk or because she crashed Toothless again and the two developed a genuine mother-daughter relationship. Nalo’s mom wanted her to return home at one point so she wouldn’t have to pay for dorms, but Miriam stepped in and let Nalo live with her, Ms. Dendra and Tulip (Miriam, Dendra, and Tulip are one big poly relationship and no one can stop me), and after some time, Miriam does adopt Nalo.

As for her other two moms: Dendra tries to get her pumped up and is usually the one to get her out of the bed in the morning when Nemona can’t. She initially hated Tulip when she challenged her gym, but communication is a thing and their relationship slowly improving, Nalo slowly learning about make-up from Tulip.

🐉 Team 🐉

Toothless is a koraidon and Nalo’s ace pokemon. Nalo saw Toothless fall out of the sky and was quick to investigate, she had some food with her which she used to heal him… and accidentally formed a bond with him. She tried returning him to Arven, but he refused to go back with Arven so she begrudgingly brought him home with her. He was her only other pokemon when she was in Team Star, and kept him out of his pokeball a lot, she formally named him after she was kicked out of Team Star, he comforted her, and she learned how to ride him (I’ll explain later). She rid various pokemon in Alola but mastered driving Toothless, often scaring people by running at them at top speed and leaping over them, and Toothless loves it. He’s also a big cat who steals her things and insists on getting the most attention from others, he’s often the one who keeps her in check and makes sure she doesn’t over exert herself.

Misteria is her shiny Meowscarada and is second to Toothless. She was given Misteria at an event for abroad students, Miriam gave Nalo Misteria as the other starters didn’t seem to like her and Misteria refused to even come out of her cage. She loves being a mischievous little gremlin, and hates to be touched, being defensive since her shiny coloration made her the target for hunters. Nalo is the only one who may pet her.

Haki ʻāʻī is Nalo’s Talonflame and the main form of air transport. Haki ʻāʻī found Nalo as she tried to out speed Toothless as a fletchling, which made Nalo want to catch her. Haki ʻāʻī helped her through the gym circuit and is her fastest-flying pokemon. Haki ʻāʻī is Toothless’ main rival.

Dusty is a Midnight Lycanroc that Nalo tripped on her way to Cortondo, and his love of digging soon caught her heart. He’s great at solo ground races, his main strategy being to dig under his opponent and trip them.

Haehae is a Garchomp that Nalo caught on her gym circuit, specifically in Colonnade Hollow where it challenged Toothless, believing him to be a worthy opponent. But Toothless developed a crush on Haehae and makes Haehae a little cuddlier. Haehae is one of Nalo’s strongest pokemon, being a member of the team she uses as a Team Star boss.

Creciente is a Roaring Moon she caught post-Area Zero when some Paradox pokemon were slowly escaping Area Zero and Her, Nemona, Penny, Arven, and Team Star teamed up to capture the escapees. She thought it was so cool she just had to keep it, and it’s part of her Team Star Team which consists of Toothless, Haehae, and Him.

Some Misc. Pokémon that she has but doesn’t exactly use for her main team are:

- Makua, an Alolan Meowth who follows her from Alola. Meowths always followed her back in Alola like guardian angels watching over her. This one followed her all the way to Paldea, it tries staying hidden but will happily cuddle up with her on stormy nights.

- Ola is a Lurantis who protects her mountain top garden. She caught it as a Fomantis because it reminded her of home in Alola.

- Akahele, an Absol she befriended in Alola years ago and reunited with several years later. She tries her best to keep Nalo out of danger… but it’s tough.

- Enekini is her dragon type Starmobile, it has the ability rain dish and knows rain dance.

🐉 Backstory 🐉

Growing up in Alola, Nalo struggled in every social department: Her mother often neglected her, her love of chaos scared potential friends away, and her love of chaos made other kids warn each other about her. She was 10 during the events of Sun and Moon and was attacked by a ‘Monster’ during said events, being trapped under rubble, and she was found a week later, she had to have her legs amputated due to infection which is when she met my OC Ilex who built her a pair of legs that could “pass” for real ones when covered.

She was expelled from various schools across Alola, with her most recent expulsion being for riding a Tauros through the halls of the school (she asserts no one was harmed and there was minimal property damage). This was the last straw for Nalo’s mother who was now threatening to send her to the International Police Youth Agent Academy, which Nalo saw as a death sentence, and if she was expelled from her next school, she’d be sent straight to the academy.

She was sent to Paldea, met Penny on the bus ride from the airport, and met Nemona while she was moving into her new dorm. It was also at her dorm that she noticed something falling out of the sky, she rushed to investigate and discovered Toothless, feeding him a bit of a sandwich she was saving for breakfast. Toothless was thankful, and Nalo’s kindness made him want to stick with her, much to her reluctance. She also met Arven who tried taking Toothless back… but Toothless wanted to be with Nalo, so she kept him.

There was a starter pokemon event where she met Miriam and got Misteria… but it was outside the event that she met Mela who went on to introduce her to the rest of Team Star. She arrived in Paldea mid-summer and spent the rest of the summer and some of the first months at school bonding with Team Star. What made her leave was Clavell’s threat to expel Team Star

She couldn’t admit why she was leaving the team, but Mela had a crush and her heartbreak was masked by anger which led to her saying Nalo had declared war on them. She escaped on Toothless’ back… and she cried on a nearby hill, Toothless comforted her, and she gave him his name.

The Treasure Hunt begins and she decides to do the gym circuit since it reminded her of the Island Challenge (when she isn’t a fan of battling), which made Nemona excited, hoping she had the potential for a friend and rival. Arven asked for her help in defeating titans, Cassiopeia recruited her to Operation Starfall, and she now got to go through the main game of Pokemon Scarlet. I won’t go into detail, but let me highlight some moments in each storyline:

She and Arven didn’t get along during their first Titan, but she quickly changed her tune when she learned he was trying to heal his Mabosstiff and apologized for being an ass. She saw right through Clavell’s disguise but just rolled with it. She had a hard time battling her former friends, wishing she could hang out with them again. She hates Tulip and Iono, and has mixed feelings about the other gym leaders, but despised how set Nemona was on making them her rival.

The day soon came when she had to battle the Elite Four… at the same time Arven was taking on the last titan and that night she’d battle Cassiopeia. The Elite Four was tough and she kept nearly losing and kept getting worried for her teammates, Nemona talks to her before she can battle Geeta… and she blows up at Nemona: She doesn’t want to battle and she doesn’t want to be molded into Nemona’s ideal friend, so she abandons the gym circuit completely. She gets to Arven, and they defeat the Fake Dragon Titan and save Mabosstiff.

She has the battle with Cassiopeia, learning it’s Penny, and watches as Team Star reunites. Clavell takes back his threat of expulsion and brings up the Star Training Centers. Nalo is set to leave… but Mela reveals she told the others the situation and she’s welcomed back into the team with open arms.

Now For Area Zero!

She got a strange call one morning from Sada… Arven got it too, they now had to go down to Area Zero, and Nalo recruited Penny to help hack for the team, and Nemona overheard their plans, threatened to tell Clavell, and joined too. Nalo tries to keep Toothless calm but he hides away, and Arven and Penny’s fighting means she assigns herself as the team captain as they venture down, learning about Arven’s mom and the paradox pokemon. Penny and Arven bond, Nemona and Nalo salvage their friendship, and Nalo discovers the truth about Arven’s mom, confronting the android built in her image and she trusts Nemona to take on the final battle and command Toothless’ battle form.

Afterward, she gives Arven time to heal, and Nemona formally apologizes for trying to mold Nalo into her rival and agrees to do something Nalo likes… she regrets it immediately as Nalo takes her on a ride on Toothless where they nearly die multiple times. She realizes her love of speed and starts a racing club at Naranja Academy: The Comets. Giacomo and Ortega are the first members.

Hi there, I’m Pollen! I’m a Pokémon trainer, currently traveling in the Paldea region, although I’m originally from Unova! This is just a silly little blog I made to document my journeys, my Pokémon, and to share my experiences with fellow Pokémon enthusiasts <3 I love all sorts of Pokémon, battling is one of my favorite things, and my best bud is a Talonflame named Fiero!

I’ve been obsessed with Pokémon since I was a little kid, and I’ve always wanted to be a trainer. When I was 7, I got to go on a trip to Kalos, where I found a Fletchling! I took that little guy home with me, and he’s since evolved into the Fiero you know today <3

In order of when I caught them, my team consists of:

Fiero the Talonflame - My very first Pokémon, and my strongest as well! He’s very loyal and brave, although he can be a bit of a brat at times :p

King the Zoroark - The only Pokémon I have who’s actually from my home region! This little trickster stole a King’s Rock from me back when I was trying to buy one for Fiero at a shop, which is where he got his name once I befriended him! While he loves to cause mayhem, he’s also quite sweet, and actually gets a bit shy at times.

Venus the Primarina - Named after the Sunray Venus shell, Venus was actually the first Pokémon I caught during my stay in Alola! Reserved and calm, she’s the backbone of the team and makes sure that everyone is okay!

Chanterelle the Shiinotic - Chanterelle is outgoing, always eager to battle, and filled with energy. While they can really tire the rest of the team out sometimes, everyone knows how reliable this little powerhouse is. I found them in the Lush Jungle on Akala Island, during my travels in Alola!

Flan the Pawmot - Flan is the sweetest little Pokémon I’ve ever met! While she’s quite silly, she also packs a real punch, and carries my whole team quite a lot- and she’s quite a dependable friend!

Sunny the Altaria - Sunny is a very special Pokémon, because they're shiny! I named them after sunny-side-up eggs, because they’re white with a yellow center <3 trying to find a Swablu and ending up finding a shiny one was an incredibly interesting experience to say the least! Sunny is quite intelligent, and often figures out the best battle strategy before I can!

6! Are there any pokémon that, upon first learning of them, you almost didn’t believe were real creatures?

Okay. Listen. I’m gonna sound so silly here. Obviously I’m from Paldea. When a friend told me about Stunfisk, I absolutely did not believe that they were real. They’re just so… flat. Anyways when I went to visit family in Unova for the first time, you bet I tracked down, pet and took so many pictures of the Stunfisks there. They’re kinda squishy and I think I hate it.

12! Your favorite weather vs. your partner pokémon’s favorite weather?

I like rainy days! Squash’s beach bod is always ready. He likes sunny days- better for basking :)

19! What’s your favorite bonding activity to take part in with your pokémon?

I like playing “food fetch” with Squash! He likes to chase after ice cubes and berries I roll for him. I’ll never get over watching him push his teeny legs into overdrive…. So slow… but so cute… Dex, my service ‘mon, likes to swoop in and take Squash’s berries sometimes though, the little butthead.

You awake to find yourself in a simple, but uncomfortable pale blue economy seat on a plane flying from Hammerlocke to Mesagoza. How long had you been sleeping? You’re not sure, but the movie you were watching had long since ended, and there’s an announcement playing on the intercom.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts, stow your tray tables, and return all belongings to the overhead compartments as we begin our descent into sunny Mesagoza.”

You do as you’re told, not that there was much for you to do anyway. You find yourself staring out the window.

At first there isn’t much to see; you’re flying above the clouds and all you can see is pure white, but as you begin to descend to a lower elevation, the towns and cities of Paldea quickly become noticeable. You can make out landmarks you were taught about in school, like Glaseado Mountain in the distance, which makes you shiver just thinking about it, and the Great Crater of Paldea, where the grass seems even greener than it is outside of it.

What catches your eye the most, however, is the city of Mesagoza below. Everything in the region always seemed so colorful and bright, genuine and vivid, but Mesagoza always appealed to you the most, with the street food vendors, and specialty stores, and the tiny figures seeming to be happy with themselves. You see now that you were correct, a smile appearing on your face as you catch sight of the grand and magnificent Naranja-Uva Academy, your entire reason for arriving in the beautiful region.

You’re able to make out the teeny tiny figures of students, perhaps leaving after a day of hard work, but even barely visible, the bright scarlets and violets of their uniforms are clear as day, while the building is open and welcoming, even after centuries of providing the most prestigious curriculum in the world.

Inhaling deeply, you find yourself more excited than ever to begin your brand new life, vivid and full of color.

I’ve been lowkey kinda having ideas of making a series of little doodles or strips based off my pokemon from Scarlet, so I guess I wanted to start off by introducing some of the cast!

Here are the main four of the gang: Basil, Chorizo, Roxas, and Axel! I’m not really planning on making full on bios for the characters quite yet, so for now here are some doodles to get a feel for thier personalities!

More doodles of some of the other characters will be coming in the future!

Repeat Ball: What is one thing you could do over and over again and never get tired of?

Oh, definitely going on picnics. I love making sandwiches for my pokemon and it's so nice seeing how happy they get when I make their favorites! Coco is especially fond of spicy food but my spice tolerance is hella low, so I always end up making a seperate sandwich for her lmao

Premier Ball: Are there any special events that you're looking forward to in the future? If the event has already happened, what was it?

When Coco evolved from Crocalor to Skeledirge--- DUDE. I was in AWE. I didn't know that little blob was an egg!!! And Coco trusted me enough to let me hold the egg and it was so warm and I never know that it was going to be a little bird!!!!! I'm so normal about this (lying)

Sports Ball: Have you participated in any competitions? Like pokemon contests or battle tournaments?

I think pokemon contests are more popular in Hoenn, so I haven't seen then much around Paldea but I've always wanted to try one! And battle tournaments... I've battled all the gyms in Paldea, if that counts? I don't know if I want to become Champion-rank, though...

Hai hai!! I really hope this is working correctly- My name is Regi! I'm a Paldea native who's currently working at Aether Paradise in the Alola region. I work along side my fiancee Faba and my pokemon! I have a bunch of mons, but here's some I'd like you all to meet right off the bat!

Sleet the Hypno (He/Xe): lvl 69, knows Psychic, Hex, Thunder Wave, and Dazzling Gleam. Sleet was my first pokemon. I met him at a pretty young age after I found him trapped under a tree. We've been friends ever since! He's very skittish around new people, and is a bit stubborn at times, but once you get to know him he's one of the sweetest pokemon you'll meet. And I know Hypno's don't have the greatest rep, but most of the bad things said about them are super exaggerated or just flat out false.

Bigtop the Grimmsnarl (He/They): lvl 68, knows False Surrender, Spirit Break, Leech Life, and Foul Play. I met Bigtop when he was just an Impidimp. He was owned by a pokemon cirvus performer who left him alone to rot. Sleet ended up headbutting him right in the nose and broke it. Afterwards, I had Bigtop join the team! He's a super gentle pokemon, and is very different from most of his species. I also think he's got a crush on Sleet, but I'm not too sure.

Rush the Salamence (They/Them): lvl 69, knows Dragon Claw, Dragon Dance, Fly, and Crunch. I found Rush as a little Bagon trying to learn how to fly, which is actually very common behavior for them to do. Of course, I had to rescue them before they hurt themself (Bagon may have very thick and tough scales, but they can still injure themselves very badly jumping from high places. Just be cautious since these pokemon have quite the temper and may end up scraping you up a bit). Thankfully, Rush didn't hurt me too bad. They were actually pretty thankful for what I did. They decided to come along with me and join the team!

Marly the Orthworm (They/It): lvl 67, knows Iron Head, Earthquake, Body Press and Iron Defense. Marly is a very silly pokemon. I met them during a trip to Asado Desert for my first major research task assigned by Aether Paradise. It just started following me, it definitely wanted me to catch them, so I did. It's sort of my unofficial emotional support pokemon too. They're best friends with Rush, too!

Eda (She/They) and Torch (They/Them) the Scovillain: lvl 67, knows Flamethrower, Giga Drain, Sunny Day, Grassy Terrain. These two are as different as they can be! I met them on another research expedition and watched their evolution! Most of the time they butt heads and don't always get along, but they still care about each other dearly!
