God online drama sucks. I'm supposed to be thinking about Denise
#mel's musings#delete later maybe#forgive me for vagueing on main but i REALLY did not expect to be met with this shitstorm when i got home from my walk today#and i'm barely even involved. the only stake i have is i have varying levels of connection to people who are#and even the most basic communication feels like stepping in a minefield even WITHOUT my current limited mental capacity#i do my best to be kind and empathetic and make peace where i can. and most people seem to understand that which is nice#but i'm terrified that one day that attitude will backfire on me. that i'll have to pick a side when the stakes are even higher#i hate picking sides. i just want to be friends with everyone is that so much to ask#but anyway. pokemon scarlet playthrough as denise huh (don't trust myself to manage tgaa while brainfogged so this is my compromise)#mel rants#forest for the tree

#mel's musings#briefly interrupting my hiatus to leave this here#context: i found a remaster of joking motive with the bw2 soundfont on youtube#and it gave me the absolutely HILARIOUS mental image of raymond shields as colress' defense lawyer#you know. because of the whole ecoterrorism thing (re: freezing an entire city just bc he was curious about kyurem's power)#cause like. there's NO WAY that didn't kill people right#there's no way there weren't some poor folks walking around the streets that got blasted w/ unbreakable ice#(oc tangent: denise nearly died in this attack and has permanent ptsd and aversion to ice/cold in general as a result)#AND YET the dude seemingly suffers no consequences for it. he's still just chilling on team plasma's ship in the postgame#which always made no sense to me because ghetsis and the sages got arrested in bw1 (even if the former escaped)#n's a different story because he was being groomed. but colress has no such excuse#either the pokemon world's justice system is REALLY lax or he had a really good lawyer#and guess what brilliant idea i just had today. i would SO be fleshing this out more if my brain wasn't still eating itself alive#↖️ this user is not normal about raymond shields ace attorney and you best believe she's going to make it everyone's problem#forest for the tree

I will never get over how weird it feels to have tragic and emotional chapters of your life where you just also still go to work, and the grocery store, and see funny videos online all while feeling such paralyzing fear and heartache
life just goes on no matter what

If people were too mean to you when you were growing up, a newborn animal will materialize inside your brain and it’s so so scared and shivering and it will stay there for years. Decades, even. And whenever you say something kind of weird but true to your heart the animal will tell you “Noo! You can’t say that! If you say that, everyone will hate you!”. The animal means well. It’s so so small and everything is so scary for them and it’s just trying to protect you. But listen to me. Listen to me. Whenever this happens, you can’t do what the animal says. You can’t. If you do, you’ll become as scared as the animal. You have to keep saying weird shit. You have to keep doing things the animal wouldn’t approve of. If you do enough things that scare the animal, maybe one day it’ll go to sleep.
