Who was the man behind the mask? Why did King Ludvig XIV sentence a prisoner to 34 years of imprisonment with an iron mask on his face.At that time, in France, criminals were hanged for even the most trivial crimes.So why was this man allowed to live so long and why was no one allowed to see his face?.

There are many theories as to why this happened. The interest of the case grew because no one knows for sure the truth about the man behind the mask.Did the man know too much? or whether he had the wrong kindred in his blood. Or was the man's face different from that of humans? Was the man human? These are the things we focus on in today's mystery.

Elämme vuotta 1996 ja Ranskan törsäävä itsevaltias Ludvig XIV määrää tuntemattomasta syystä miehen loppuelämäkseen vankilaan rautanaamio päässään. Teolla haluttiin turvata vangin henkilöllisyys.

On torstai 18. syyskuuta vuonna 1698. Saapuu Ranskan pelätyimpään vankilaan Bastiljiin vanki jolla oli kasvot peitettynä. Hänen nimeään ei saanut sanoa ja illan tultua vankilan varajohtaja vei naamioituneen vangin vankila tornin Bertaudiere-tornin kolmanteen huoneeseen. tällöin naamiomies oli viettänyt vankilassa 29 vuotta. On ollut kritiikkiä oliko vangin kasvoilla ollut maski oikeasti raudasta. Vanki saapui silkistä tehdyssä naamiossa. Vanki sai paljon erikoiskohtelua ja on siis totta, että todennäköisesti kuninkaalla oli tietämys henkilöstä.

Vankia on veikattu kuninkaan veljeksi. Tämän teorian "isäksi" on epäilemättä vahvasti ollut läsnä filosofi voltaire (François-Marie Arouet). Filosofi itse istui kyseisessä vankilassa 11 kuukautta ja loi vankkaa pohjaa tarinalle kuninkaan veljestä, jota mm Napoleon jatkoi. Vuonna 1770 ranskalainen paroni de Hess kirjoitti epäilyksensä vangin henkilöllisyys olisi italialainen diplomaatti kreivi Ercole Antonio Matthioli. On myös epäilty, että vanki oli kuninkaan palvelija. Tämä olisi saanut kuulla arkaluontoisia asioita, kuitenkin niin että häntä ei voisi tappaa.

Oli miten oli, joka tapauksessa rautanaamio oli vanki. Tämä vanki oli tärkeä pitää hengissä ja hänen olinpaikan salasivat kuningas ja tämän lähipiiri. Oli myös oleellista, että vangista huolehdittiin lukuisten lääkäri käyntien kera.

Monday, June 12: Iron Mask, "The Witch Burner"

Dushan Petrossi wasn’t exactly a household name when he started recording with Iron Mask, but he was apparently regarded well enough among European power metal guitarists that the band’s first three records had his name right up front.  And judging from Revenge is My Name and “The Witch Burner”- awesome titles, both- Petrossi knew exactly which boxes to check in order to craft a proper Euro power metal banger.  Phil Letawe’s vocals were gruffer than usual for the genre, though they were clearly secondary to all the shredding and galloping (he would be the first of six frontmen Iron Mask would employ over the course of 20 years, so clearly Petrossi had other priorities than maintaining a steady lineup).  Neither Petrossi nor his outfit would really distinguish themselves on the power metal scene, but they proved to epitomize the durability of the genre, as they illustrated that as long as one played this kind of music consistently well enough, they would be able to carve out a space for themselves.

Just discovered The Iron Mask (2019) [aka The Mystery of the Dragon Seal]. Im only like 15 or 20 min in and I am loving these characters. I am entranced.

Released 2019 but it really feels like its straight out of the era of the Princess Bride.

Title:Iron Mask (2019) Vote: 5/10 Absurd and trashy movie on a ridiculous level with an equally unpredictable screenplay and jokes that make you cry. And yet, yet it is so trashy that in thirty years it could be re-evaluated as a cult movie. However, if I had to indicate what makes it so ridiculous I wouldn't be able to say, I know it's about how the characteristics of the film were mixed in a heterogeneous and very uneven way. The cast is made up of famous and good actors even if they are no longer at the peak of their careers. The plot is botched and makes extensive use of clichés and less than excellent CGI. The result is a baroque combination of Jackie Chan-style fighting, Schwarzenegger-style punches in the face, oriental creatures and golden medallions. There is a lot of comedy and obvious jokes and deliberately comical and unintentionally funny and cringe situations. Even when there should be tension it's all so surreal that it's artificial and funny.
