If you lie to protect me, if you lie just once, if you lie just a little
LEO
What is it? [beat] Charlie, you can talk to me. What is it? [beat] Charlie...
CHARLIE
When Zoey and Ellie went to college... [beat] When they went to college they would've had to fill out a health form.
LEO
What are you...?
CHARLIE
On the form, they ask for a number of things, including a complete family medical history.
LEO
God. [beat] Charlie... [beat] How did you know he was sick? How did you know that the President was sick? [beat] Charlie...
CHARLIE
Leo... [beat] If you're under 18 when you start as a freshman... if you're under 18, you need a parent's signature.
LEO
[beat] Okay. [beat] Okay.
CHARLIE
I'm sorry, I know...
LEO
No, it's okay.
CHARLIE
I just thought it was...
LEO
You absolutely did the right thing. [beat] Okay. [beat] Okay. Go back to work.
Charlie exits.
LEO
Margaret?
Margaret enters.
LEO
I need to see all of Zoey Bartlet's Admissions paperwork for Georgetown.
MARGARET
I don't think they'll release that to me.
LEO
No, you call Pat Carr, the family lawyer and you tell him I want it.
MARGARET
Can I tell him why?
LEO
Margaret, just get it right now, would you?
Margaret exits.
FADE OUT.
END ACT THREE
* * *
CUT TO: EXT. WHITE HOUSE PORTICO - NIGHT
Charlie is seated on a bench with his hands in his lap. Bartlet walks toward him, through pools of light, from the direction of the Residence. Charlie stands up.
BARTLET
Sit down. Don't be scared.
They both sit down on the bench. Charlie stares straight ahead without looking at Bartlet. Bartlet turns toward Charlie.
BARTLET
My youngest daughter's got a big mouth.
A lengthy silence falls between them. Bartlet looks uncomfortable.
CHARLIE
No, she doesn't, sir. She wanted me to be on the lookout for certain physical signs so I could tell the First Lady.
Several moments pass while Bartlet absorbs this information. He sighs.
BARTLET
We won't discuss this any more for the time being. It'll be public soon enough. And the more conversations you have with me, the more lawyers you're gonna have to talk to, and they bill in an hour what you take home in a week, so we won't discuss it except to say this you're gonna be subpoenaed. I'm confident in your loyalty to me. I'm confident in your love for me. If you lie to protect me, if you lie just once, if you lie just a little, if you lie 'cause you can't stand what's happening to me and the people making it happen, if you ever, ever lie...
Charlie finally looks over at Bartlet.
BARTLET
...you're finished with me, you understand?
CHARLIE
Yes, sir.
BARTLET
Say you understand.
CHARLIE
I understand, sir.
BARTLET
Go back to work.
CHARLIE
Yes, sir.
They both stand up. Bartlet walks toward the Oval Office.
CHARLIE
Is there anything you need?
BARTLET
(turns around) I need you to go to law school and graduate as soon as humanly possible.
CHARLIE
Yes, sir.
Charlie turns to go inside. Bartlet walks toward the entrance to the Oval Office.

Job interview tip I got from a tiktok but it's genius:
If you were unemployed for a while, they're going to ask if you can explain the gap in your resume. Unless you were actually doing something cool & relevant, this is hard to answer in a way that makes you sound like a good corporate cog. So here's the best and infallible answer -
No you cannot, because you signed an NDA.
You now sound mysterious, desirable, worldly, experienced. They can't even really ask you more about it! Perfect.

public libraries in the usa offering free digital library cards to people not in their areas (as of october 2023):
brooklyn (13-21yo us residents)
seattle (13-26yo us residents)
boston (13-26yo us residents, EDIT: just commonly banned books)
los angeles (13-18yo california residents)
san diego (12-26yo us residents, not the whole collection just commonly banned books)
these books unbanned cards (unless otherwise stated) get you access to each library's complete libby/cloud library collection, no hoopla/kanopy/physical copies included.
ebook collections are expensive to maintain (many american libraries have annual fees for non-residents because of this) but because of an uptick in book banning (particularly brutal in mississippi last summer) larger libraries have opened their doors more, which is very kind of them!
i've used my seattle card for the last several months and their libby collection has about three times the books that my local library does, which is wonderful for accessing more niche titles or skipping a waiting list. would love to hear of similar ebook initiatives internationally!
i use library extension (firefox/chrome/edge compatible) to check all my collections (+ the internet archive) at once, works for several different countries highly recommend it.
spotify seems to be offering 15hrs/month of audiobook listening to premium subscribers and while that does seem useful if you're already paying and are after a new release with a long library waitlist, libraries are better for everything else.

something so fucked up about Chat Noir’s whole deal is that he is in a lot of ways Adrien playing a character. Like Adrien picked up his miraculous and was told he’d be a superhero so he was like “ok, time to act like a superhero!” and he lets himself have fun w it and play up the role and let loose and kind of just allow himself to be silly and goofy and have fun and for once in his life not care about performing Perfection™.
But. But none of the other characters KNOW THAT. So everyone just sees Chat Noir and is like “look at this guy’s ego. He’s so full of himself. Surely it’d be fair to knock him down a few pegs” without being aware of how few pegs he actually HAS. He’s like the “insecure character who overcompensates in ego” trope except he’s really not doing it unironically, he’s just having a fun LARP pretending to have self worth in his off-hours but nobody else is on the same page about it being a game and he refuses to tell them. He just dramatically pouts about it and lets them laugh and pretends like he’s not internalizing it and it is almost 3 am and my brain forced me to write this instead of sleeping I’m gonna take a melatonin

Favourite genres of media include ‘makes me want to lie on the floor’ and ‘have to stop and stare into space about it for a while’ and sometimes both of those as well as ‘has rewired my brain so completely I will think about it every day forever’

i got an ao3 comment a while ago saying how it was "uncomfortable" and "out of character" for bruce to use terms of endearment and nicknames towards his kids in fics. which proves to me that some people have truly rotted minds, but also that you've never picked up a batman comic. so, here are some nice panels that show it is very much in character.
sweetheart:
Batman (1940) #452
honey:
Batman (1940) #318 & Batman/Grendel (1993) #2
little one:
Batman and Robin (2011) #22
lad:
Detective Comics (1937) #573 & #574
chum:
Detective Comics (1937) #570 & Superman Annual (1985) #11
good boy:
Robin & Batman (2021) #3
