“Oh, Merlin, tell me, does THE QUEEN OF SWORDS get what she deserves?” She is in THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX & CLOSED to finding out.
— she walks through the world as ;
name → annabeth pebworth pronouns → she/her identification → cis female year of birth → september 1952 - september 1953 face claim → jessica henwick blood status → muggle-born sexual orientation → up to applicant occupation → deputy head hit wix at the department of magical law enforcement at the ministry of magic future information → head of hit wix at the department of magical law enforcement at the ministry of magic, wife of dougal mckinnon
— she is best described as ;
Forged by DRAGONS BREATH, she is the ASSURANCE of a NEW DAWN coloured in scarlet yet the CAUTION warned in it’s wake. The GUIDING HAND of a blade, SURE, STEADY and UNYIELDING in the face of PROTECTION and PERSEVERANCE.  While they can be as TENDER as the whistle of wind through mountains, it’s a gift for only those stubborn enough to unlock a IRON CAST HEART sealed from decades of hopelessly cold, to hold.
— her story starts with ;
tw: death
There is little that Annabeth cares to remember of her time before becoming a Pebworth. Merely a collection of disjointed memories, fractured hope and careless actions from those that were meant to love her. The product of a careless night, Annabeth was born to a mother too young to look after herself let alone a child. Abandoned and left in an orphanage, Annabeth raised her sister Isla with protective hand and the overbearingness of a mother at only seven. Seeing it as her duty to protect her, she vowed even then that nothing would be able to tear them apart. While the orphanage was as bleak and grey, the people inside held hope for the young souls within. Finding families for as many children as they could muster. Isabella and Angus Pebworth hailed from the highlands, simple folk who always wanted a child of their own; the news of a newborn looking for a home brought them to the orphanage. Only to find that if they wished to take Isla; they’d have to take Annabeth too. While it wasn’t what they’d wished for, it was still a family.
Annabeth knew that she wasn’t wanted. Her age made her less desirable, her guarded attitude and protection over her sister was a challenge. Especially when strange things started to happen. The crashing of a plate when tears started to fall, the playing of the gramophone to sooth Isla without it being turned on, the flickering of lights to accompany her tears. While her parents swore the house was haunted and insisted they fled to the Isle of Skye to escape their demons; Anna feared it wasn’t the house but herself. Exploring the fields behind the village they lived, her eyes fell on four figures all of whom were flying. The magic she’d been hiding under her covers at night of flickering flames wasn’t insanity, it was real and there were others just as she. As quickly as her realization came, she was knocked to the ground by COINNEACH MCKINNON [future brother in law]; who was swiftly scorned by DOUGAL MCKINNON [best friend/fiancè]. Annabeth’s short temper and spark only made the McKinnon’s smirk, who welcomed her to join them gladly. The McKinnon’s saved Annabeth from loneliness and self destruction; akin spirits they taught her about the wizarding world, showing her life, freedom and how to finally breathe.
The Pebworth’s fear of magic tore the family apart. Superstitious, the unknown whelm of witchcraft they saw as cursed. Deeming that no child of theirs would have a hand in such unnatural acts, they burned Hogwarts letters upon arrival only until a mysterious cat appeared at their window. Transforming into a woman before their very eyes, PROFESSOR MINERVA MCGONAGALL [mentor] escorted the witch personally to Hogwarts, throwing shame in her wake for their negligence. Hogwarts was beyond anything she could have wished for. Doned in red, she soared with her fellow Gryffindor’s; atlast finally wanted and free. The brightest witch of her year with resilient prowess, the girl excelled far beyond anyone’s expectations. Able to fight her own battles when the likes of LACHESIS MALFOY [adversary] shouted mudblood across the halls, though with Dougal, ALICE YEN [best friend], FRANK LONGBOTTOM [close friend], AMOS DIGGORY [friend], HESTIA JONES [friend] and IAIN WOOD [friend] readily at her side for once she didn’t need to be her own champion. Yielding a fury of protection for the people she loves, the witch’s devotion to safeguard her chosen family and those vulnerable became her striving purpose. Graduating and taking a job as a Auror under ALASTOR MOODY [boss], she became bold and defiant in her untouchable youth.
Though one night, everything changed. Ravagers stormed the mountains of Skye in hope to capture the famed and protected Hebridean Black dragons. The roars of fire shook the town as dragons cried for their children leaving the McFusty calling any wix on the island to help. Fighting in combat alongside the McKinnon’s, McCormack’s, Wood’s and McGonagall’s the families united managed to ward off the thieves; still with great consequences. Isla had followed her sister with the ambition to help. Though at only twelve, her skills weren’t nearly enough to match that of older wix. Caught between a spell and a dragon, in a blink of an eye Annabeth lost her sister forever. With no body to be found, any life that Isla Pebworth had once held; simply turned to memory. Blamed for her sister’s death, the Pebworths disowned Annabeth. Wanting nothing to do with magic and the daughter that had left their greatest treasure dead, they left never to be seen again. Devastated and plagued with grief; Annabeth’s heartbroken cries echoed through the mountains. With a piece of her soul stolen, despite the McKinnon’s taking her in; the witch was unconsolable. Turned reserved from fear of the unbearable grief that comes with love lost, Annabeth became colder and guarded in a fleeting attempt to protect what remained of her heart.
While many tried to heal the mourning witch, it was Dougal who found a way into her heart. Though arrogant, there was something about him that was disarming. For a man too proud and noble it was maddening, she offered a wit as sharp as a viper leaving their interactions often comical to those around them. Years of friendship turned to love as they bickered over games of wizards chess, sipped butterbeers and healed each other through the misfortune that had befallen them. While their years of friendship, love and then engagement were news celebrated by friends, by most however distaste could be felt in their stares. Most surprising of all; Nathair who’s objection ripped through the fabric of the McKinnon family. Obstinate that she wouldn’t tear them apart, Annabeth fled to the hills. Only for Dougal to capture her in an embrace, claiming there was no place on earth that would be far enough for him to forget the bond they shared; assuring it would meet good ends. While fraught with concern at the growing unrest both within her family and community, Annabeth dove into work. While Alastor fought against the head of law enforcement BARTEMIUS CROUCH SR [boss] insisting she become the head of the department of Hit wix, with her muggle-born status; the Ministry board refused.
Angered, Alastor spoke of a group forming to combat against discrimination and offer tangible change; The Order of the Phoenix.Hungry for purpose, while she knows her time will come, with the growing strife she aches being on the sidelines wanting nothing more than to wage her own war. Though, even she knows it's not wise with anonymous threats of violence left in her office. What started as one, became two, till she was finding threats daily scattered on her desk as pureblood propaganda. While the letters of terror and dark symbols are unnamed, even Annabeth knows she’d be a fool not to dismiss such cryptic messages. Keeping them hidden from her friends and Dougal to not cause alarm, Annabeth has taken the situation into her own hands. Seeking consort from EMMELINE VANCE [friend], the pair are trying to detect a magical trace off of any of the letters she has received. Testing the ink and parchment, to see if it will lead to a clue but coming up nout. But with the most recent letter being slipped under the front door, Annabeth’s nerve is growing strained with how close to home the threats are turning. With Muggles disappearing daily and the threat on non-pureblood wix growing; Annabeth fears that it’s only a matter of time before her name is added to the missing persons list.
— she is a LEVEL 8 WITCH & readied for war ;

As is my tradition, let’s start off the year with some adventure gamebooks, this time from the Fighting Fantasy line. I’m going to jump around to some I particularly enjoy, starting with FF3, The Forest of Doom (1983). I very much enjoy Iain McCaig’s cover art — autumnal tones and lizard folk, what’s not to love? The interiors are by Malcolm Barter. After devouring so many Russ Nicholson-illustrated FF’s, Barter’s line work seems jarringly clean, but I like it and he actually employs a variety of stylistic choices that are grittier than they seem at first blush.
I probably enjoy this one more than it deserves. It is constructed on a loop, which is nice, because you get lots of chances to not succeed at your quest (which is rather dull — find the hammer, return the hammer) and try again, but subsequent trips don’t account for the things you’ve already done (like the monsters you’ve killed, for instance). I don’t really see a good way of fixing that problem, either, at least not without ballooning the page count. There are also a ton of items to get and use, but none of them are particularly exciting. And it might be a me-problem, but I can’t seem to find a genuinely optimal path through the book; there is always some need to retread. I don’t love that.
Still, it’s a literal walk in the woods, which is a delight after the first two volumes taking place underground and inside. I love the atmosphere of it, and the number of weirdos who are hanging out in what is seemingly not that large a forest. Not the most earth-shattering FF, but not the worst by a good measure.

The SAG Awards will be held February 24th and Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Bret Goldstein and the series - for Best Ensemble - are all set for nominations. It's be nice if there would be a good cast turnout, but I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't.
They are winners no matter what any votes say.
Tumblr media
Until then, what are they up to?
I would say Jason Sudeikis will be in a Super Bowl advert, but now they release those spots well ahead of the big game, so Jason is in a Super Bowl commercial for Michelob Ultra that is out now with Lionel Messi and Dan Marino.

-S2 of Brett Goldstein's SHRINKING has commenced production.

Dreams just keep coming true for Brett.

-If there was one Ted Lasso cast member who would be in a music video, I didn't think it would be David Elsendoorn.

A man has been found guilty of the 2005 murder of Emma Caldwell after a trial that raised significant questions about the police investigation of the unsolved murder and the key suspect over almost 20 years, as well as attitudes to reports of violence against sex workers.
Iain Packer, 51, was sentenced to at least 36 years in prison for Caldwell’s murder and was found guilty of 32 other charges against a total of 22 women that amounted to a horrifying course of unchecked physical and sexual violence over two decades. The offences included 11 rapes and multiple sexual assaults.
Sentencing Packer to the second-longest term in Scottish legal history, the judge, Lord Beckett, said the killer was responsible for an “extreme campaign of sexual violence”, preying on the vulnerable and causing “extreme and enduring suffering for so many women and their families”.
Immediately after the verdicts, the Police Scotland assistant chief constable Bex Smith, who is the executive lead for major crime and public protection, apologised directly to Caldwell, her family and “many other victims”, saying they were all “let down by policing in 2005”.
Caldwell was living in a hostel in Glasgow when she disappeared in April 2005, aged 27. Her naked body was found five weeks later in Limefield Woods near Biggar, South Lanarkshire.
Her mother told the trial that Caldwell had started taking heroin to numb her grief over the death of her older sister. She had been making money through sex work at the time of her death. The court heard from a friend of Caldwell’s that Packer had become “obsessed” with her, following her and attempting to scare away her other clients.
Although a rape allegation was first made against Packer in 1990, the prosecutor advocate depute, Richard Goddard KC, told the jury that at that time police were “dismissive” of reports made by sex workers. He said it was a “tragedy” that sex workers felt forced to accept sexual assault as “part and parcel of their job”.
Another witness said Packer chose girls who were “young, vulnerable and on drugs”. Many of the women who gave witness statements were sex workers at the time and some have since died.
Packer – who denied all charges apart from one of a prior indecent assault against Caldwell, for which he admitted he was “ashamed” – gave evidence at the trial over three days, insisting he had not killed Caldwell and that the other women accusing him were either mistaken or liars.
He admitted taking sex workers to the woods where Caldwell’s body was found – but not to the same spot where she was found. Asked where he was on the night Caldwell disappeared, Packer told the court he could have been at work or walking his dogs.
The court had heard earlier from a forensic expert that soil found in his van was a 97% match for earth at the spot where Caldwell was dumped.
Information about the police investigation that came to light during the trial raised significant questions about why it took so long to bring Packer to justice. He gave six statements to police between 2005 and 2007, but was not interviewed under caution as a suspect.
A decade later, concerns about the unsolved case were such that in 2015 the lord advocate ordered Police Scotland to re-investigate not only who killed Caldwell, but flaws in the original inquiry.
The original police investigation was focused on four Turkish men, who were charged with Caldwell’s murder in August 2007, but that case collapsed and the men were released.
Smith made it plain that Strathclyde police, the force that first investigated Caldwell’s murder before Scottish forces were merged into one force in 2013, had failed Packer’s victims.
“A significant number of women and girls who showed remarkable courage to speak up at that time also did not get the justice and support they needed and deserved from Strathclyde police,” she said. “It is clear that further investigations should have been carried out into Emma’s murder following the initial inquiry in 2005. The lack of investigation until 2015 caused unnecessary distress to her family and all those women who had come forward to report sexual violence.”
Caldwell’s mother, Margaret, who has campaigned tenaciously for justice for her daughter, said she felt “betrayed” by the original police investigation and “angry” that it had taken so long for Packer to be brought to justice.
Her solicitor, Aamer Anwar, called for an inquiry into police failings, saying: “A toxic culture of misogyny and corruption meant the police failed so many women and girls who came forward to speak up against Packer.
“Instead of receiving justice and compassion, they were humiliated, dismissed and in some instances arrested, whilst the police gifted freedom to an evil predator to rape and rape again.”

Happy Birthday Scottish actor Richard Madden born June 18th 1986 in Elderslie.
Richard was raised by his mother, Pat, a classroom assistant and his father, Richard, who worked for the fire service. He also has two sisters, Cara and Lauren.
His parents were “hippies”, he says, and their house was pretty open, with friends always piling in for big vegetarian meals. Madden spent a lot of time outside, in the woods behind their house. He has several injuries: he shows me where he shot his dad’s old air pistol and blew off part of his finger, then managed to wreck the same finger when he nailed a wooden plank to his skateboard, then crashed it, so apart from the Hippie parents it was much like most of our own days as bairns.
Despite growing up wanting to be an actor, Richard was very shy during his childhood. To overcome this, at age 11, he joined Paisley Arts Centre’s youth theatre program. In 1999 he was given the lead role as Sebastian Simpkins in BBC1’s children’s TV comedy series Barmy Aunt Boomerang, that’s him aged 12 in the first pic with co-star Toyah Wilcox.. By 2000, he’d made his feature film debut in the Iain Banks adaptation, Complicity.
After high school he was accepted to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland and in 2007, he graduated.
Less than two years later, Richard had a recurring role as Dean McKenzie on the 2009 BBC series Hope Springs. Soon after, he landed the role of Ripley in the 2010 movie Chatroom, a film about a group of teenagers who encourage each other’s bad behaviours after meeting online. In the same year, Richard played punk band Theatre of Hate singer Kirk Brandon in Worried About the Boy, a TV film about the life of British singer-songwriter Boy George.
In 2011 Richard landed his breakthrough role as Robb Stark in the HBO fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones. Also in 2011, he played gay paramedic Ashley Greenwick on the short-lived British comedy-drama Sirens. During hiatus from filming Game of Thrones in 2013, Richard was cast to star as Prince Charming in the 2015 Disney film Cinderella.
Richard won his first Screen Actors Guild award in 2014 for the Discovery Channel mini-series, Klondike. He played Bill Haskell, one of two adventurers who travel to Yukon, Canada during the Klondike Gold Rush in the 1890s. He further enhanced his reputation as a good actor when he appeared in the BBC drama Bodyguard in 2018, the following year he played Lieutenant Joseph Blake in the film 2017 and was Elton John’s manager/lover in the biop of the star Rocketman.
In January 2019 Madden won  a prestigious Golden Globe for his role as war veteran David Budd in the BBC show Bodyguard. He also appeared in the 2019 war movie 1917.
We last saw Richard in the movie,  Eternals, which was okay, but nothing great, he is one of several actors being touted as the next James Bond,
James is currently in the Amazon Prime series Citadel, I've watched the first three episodes and am not really impressed with it,I think he does pull of the American accent well, but I noticed there have been people saying he doesn't pull it off, Madden revealed he spoke in the accent for two years straight to prepare for the series. The show has been earmarked for a second series. Richard is set to appear in the feature film Killer Heat next.
In July 2019, Madden received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. When asked about his personal life during a New York Times interview following speculation about his relationships and sexuality, Madden stated: “I just keep my personal life personal.”
Madden was recently named one of ‘Scotland’s Sexiest Men'  following a new study that identifies the most attractive features for men, he has competition though,  also in the running are Bathgate’s David Tennant  and Glasgow’s James McAvoy,

Bar Americain was a trendy, intimate bar just up the road from Bronx SVU’s precinct. The lounge you were sitting in was elegant, rich with art deco fittings. The chairs were a luxurious chocolate brown, that matched the glossy wood of four legged tables and reflected the low lighting in their shiny surfaces.
For the first time in what felt like weeks you felt yourself beginning to relax in the decadent surroundings as you took the first sip from an exquisitely made cocktail. It was quiet here tonight and you liked that, you needed somewhere you could take a moment and breathe. The past few weeks had been a whirlwind of activity and now you could finally take a second, a second to forget that you were a cop, a second to remember that you were actually a person.
“I knew you’d like this place.” Iain Reilly murmured, his cornflower blue eyes focusing on you as he lifted the glass of beer to his lips.
“It’s soothing you know?” You said, allowing your gaze to wander over the delicate designs etched into features of the room.
“I got the sense you needed something to take your mind off everything.” He commented wryly.
“Thank you.” You spoke quietly, meeting Reilly’s intense blue stare. “I mean it, thank you for everything you’ve done for me I appreciate it. “
“I know it’s not been easy for you being here.” Reilly said earnestly. “Leaving your life behind for this case… “
He trailed off for a moment, swallowing hard as he lowered his gaze to the surface of the table.
“I know what it’s like to be lonely.” He told you, a mirthless smile tipping up at the edges of his mouth. “You can’t talk about this job with other people, you can’t tell them about the horrible things you see, how much it breaks you down inside...”
You understood what he was saying. Over the years you had worked in Intelligence you had seen some deplorable things, things that no human being should do to another, especially not to children. There were days where you simply felt numb, that shutting down every single one of your emotions was the only way you could get through the day without losing your shit.
Then Will stepped into your life.
He had been a breath of fresh air. Empathetic, compassionate and fun, he was all you ever could have wanted in a person, everything you could have dreamed of. You had never thought a man like him could exist and the fact he did…
It wasn’t lost on you how incredibly lucky you were.  Despite your differences, you somehow made it work. Will always made it seem effortless, he could read you like a book, pre-empting your needs long before you’d even begun to consider them yourself. He was the person that kept you anchored when you felt like you were coming apart at the seams. He was the one that made everything seem like it was going to be ok.
You missed his presence in your life more than anything. You hadn’t felt whole since you’d left Chicago and you knew that was your fault. When they’d offered you the chance to work this case you had jumped at it. Will had understood, he had seen first hand what Mika’s death had done to you. He had cradled you in his lap that night, your face buried in his firm chest, hands grasping his  shirt as you sobbed your heart out, mourning the child that no one else seemed to give a damn about.
You couldn’t sleep after that, knowing The Broker was out there, especially after they had found the New York version of the website.
When Will called him your white whale, and he wasn’t wrong…
He didn’t try to change your mind when you told him that you were staying a few more weeks. He knew you better than you knew yourself most days and he had known that this was something you needed to do even if it made the two of you miserable for the foreseeable future.
The bell rang for last call, snapping you out of your thoughts and causing you to glance at the intricate, silver watch Will had given you for your first wedding anniversary.
“I didn’t realise it was so late.” You uttered, draining the last of your cocktail as Reilly followed suited with his own drink.
There was an early briefing in the morning, one you couldn’t afford to turn up to groggy and hungover. Reilly was already holding out your coat for your as you gathered up your phone and handbag, placing it upon the surface of the table.
You gave him a grateful smile as Reilly helped you into your long, charcoal grey coat, his hands smoothing over your shoulders as you turned to face him. He was standing too close; you heard the rustle of fabric as your clothes brushed and you tilted your head up to say something.
His lips were on yours before you had the chance to speak.
It was wrong, you felt that with every fibre of your being.
Reilly wasn’t Will. When you were with Will you could feel the love in his kisses, you could feel the tenderness he had for you when his fingers ghosted along your skin.
“You don’t have to be alone tonight.” Reilly whispered against your mouth.
You pulled away from Reilly violently, tearing yourself from his arms, the back of your hand wiping across your lips vehemently. He stepped forward, reaching out to grab your arm.
“Don’t.” you barked, the tone of your voice glacial, stopping Reilly dead in his tracks. “Just don’t…”
You snatched up your handbag, throwing it over your shoulder before exiting the bar and plunging into the depths of the night.
Big Fan of Will! Get added to his tag list!

2015 was golden, 2016 was great and solid though it had its weak points, but we got the abuse storyline and soap week, 2017… was a lot of hooey but while I may not have liked a lot of what they did, the characters still felt relatively well-rounded even if everything went to shit, and we got to see Robert go off the rails, which was kinda fun, 2018 gave us the lead up to the reunion and the actual reunion, which were masterpieces, and then we got serial killer Lachlan, which did drag out a long time and we got all that weird and awful “Rebecca’s been kidnapped! Rebecca’s being held captive in the woods! Rebecca’s dead! No wait she’s being held captive by an evil nurse!” bs but we got some cute character moments before that and Robert in the conclusion was fun. I think that’s the last time I remember liking what they had going on
Kate Oats had her problems but overall her storytelling style was much tighter and better paced than anything that has come after it. She overused her favorites and had her insane Thursday doubles and Robert got a little too 2D villain sometimes but still, the show was solid in those days. 2015 represents that well.
2016 struggled in the middle due to Kate leaving and Iain coming in, while he got his ideas going. But the lead up to and the main event of ssw 2016 was amazing.
Now while I certainly think Iain's time was better than the terrible trio's, I do think he had a lot more faults. But at the very least you could always count on his spectacle stuff to be pretty good. It was his day to day storytelling that often got super repetitive because he really liked to drag his stories out until he could do his big climactic conclusion. It's just that those conclusions did a lot to make up for the slog before it.
The terrible trio wouldn't know a good climactic conclusion if it fell on them like a caravan.
But the show definitely suffered under Iain's time. 2017 was a bit of a mess overall and 2018 was a slog when it came to having the Bails story, the Grace story, Sarah's heart story and the Lachlan serial killer story all running concurrently.
From a Robron standpoint, 2015 is just a lot of insane fun. 2016 bookends with great stories with the first chill period in between during the producer transition. 2017 is messy as hell but I still like the Hell Plot overall from a Robron standpoint. Rebecca sucked but whether they lucked into it or not, Robron had a great arc that finished up in 2018. Robron definitely got lost in the middle portion of 2018 because all of those other stories were going on and they weren't the center of attention anymore...sadly. But at least the reunion and the wedding were lovely and perfect.
And then the terrible trio took over and everything fell apart. They don't know how to pace a story. They don't know how to craft a character arc. They're way too focused on the next headline and generating hype and buzz to actually care about the characters. It's why everything feels so random and out of the blue or gets dropped abruptly only to be suddenly picked up months later. It's just a disaster. I'm thrilled Jane is gone now but the other two need to go too. And they need to bring in a new person in general because this show is crying out for a new creative vision.

to begin my noble quest of being more annoying (a neutral term for me meaning: efforts to be more outspoken about my interests)
i literally just want to make lists of shit i am into so you all can get a better feel for who i am and why i write what i do and hopefully find things in common <3
music: not to be that guy but i genuinely do listen to everything. though not in a "play whatever it's nbd," but in a "music has been a special interest of mine since childhood and i have made hours long multi-genre playlists every month since my senior year of high school" BUT some current favorites include: Blondshell Searows Elton John (and by extension George Michael, duh. friendship of the century. Elton just came first and led me to George) Simon and Garfunkel Faye Webster Dijon Eagles Feist The Sundays Prince Chappell Roan Gorillaz Fiona Apple i am cutting myself off now, but trust there are many more and they are swirling in my head at all times.
film similarly i have such a taste for movies that's all over the place and often go against people's perception of me (i am a lesbian with a philosophy minor whose primary focus was feminist theory and i fucking loves James Bond) but that's what makes it FUN! film and fiction in general is literally a playground. So this is gonna be a mix of specific movies and directors! James Bond (2006 Casino Royale is the best, you can fight me on this but i won't listen) Memento Only Yesterday and Porco Rosso (by Studio Ghibli) Emma (2020 version by Autumn de Wilde) But I'm a Cheerleader Say Anything Rocketman Kingsman: The Secret Service You've Got Mail The Usual Suspects Eyes Wide Shut and our newest addition, Saltburn <333 David Cronenberg (Crash and Dead Ringers especially) David Lynch (Fire Walk with Me and Blue Velvet especially)
tv let's just go simple here The X Files Twin Peaks The L Words Buffy The Vampire Slayer John Doe Bob's Burgers King of the Hill Futurama
literature listen, i have a lit degree but i am also who i am, so my favorite books are usually the last good ones i read. that being said, my most longstanding favorites and the authors i return to are: Haruki Murakami (1Q84, Norwegian Wood, After the Quake, etc. i have genuinely read 80% of this man's 50 years of writing at this point) Melissa Febos Sally Rooney James Baldwin Ottessa Moshfegh Oliver K. Langmead Iain Reid Sean Hewitt hobbies i collect 'em! acoustic and electric guitar crocheting, knitting, embroidering quilting jewelry making collaging indie perfume (i will no doubt be gushing about this more on this account because i also connect perfumes to my characters/projects and i have upwards of 100 scents in my collection) if you are still here you rock i have also thought of starting a youtube channel for literal years (like many of us late 90s-early 00s kids i have tried several times throughout the worst years of adolescence lol) to just talk about writing and also alllll of that. idk if it will happen but if it does think of this as a sort of primer!

“Oh, Merlin, tell me, does THE KING OF CUPS get what he deserves?” He is in THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX & OPEN to finding out.
— he walks through the world as ;
name → dougal mckinnon pronouns → him/he  identification → cis male year of birth → september 1951 - september 1952 face claim → kendrick sampson blood status → pure-blood sexual orientation → up to applicant occupation → senior researcher for the department of magical law enforcement at the ministry of magic future information → married to annabeth pebworth
— he is best described as ;
A LION'S BREATH roaring in the blazing sun, they are the STRENGTH of an OLD OAK yet the waring weight held in its years. The SURE STEP of a WISE MAN, he is the CONSTANCE of day break PROUD and PROTECTIVE in it’s overwhelming MIGHT, yet the quiver of BURDENED RESPONSIBILITY forced into the light of day by UNYIELDED DEVOTION at its amber dawn.
— his story starts with ;
tw: death
Raised on scottish bravery and the freedom of the skies, Dougal is as daring as any Mckinnon that came before him. With his mother a socialite from Paris, she took great care to ensure her children knew etique, language and politics. While their father - who worked for the Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau within the Ministry - bolstered courage, with flying lessons and dragon eggs, even for a child of the wizarding world Dougal’s youth was vibrant. The thrills of adventure set him alight. Screaming into the sunset as Hebridean Black dragons dominated the skies, they soared through Scottish valleys and dove into locks exploring the creatures that lurked in their depths. For eight years he grew an only child. Books towered the tables in his room, with wizarding punk posters overlapping pinned anecdotes of muggle folktales; he thrived under the encouragement of his parents' love and the stubborn companionship of his fellow islanders. The eldest of four, with an eight years difference between him and the youngest, he took on an over protective role of MARLENE [sister], NATHAIR [brother] and COINNEACH [brother] often when he didn't need to. He loved them all with pride, fulfilling his big brother duties with compassion as his temperament made them squeal with delight.
Adamant in his valiance, he longed to be a hero fighting for the voiceless. Following in the footsteps of the fabled heroes he admired; Dougal daydreamed of taking down villains like Robin Hood, bolstering with ROBERT MCGONAGALL [best friend] by his side. Sword fighting like knights, they charted maps of hidden caves, and taught his siblings to fly. Until his brother knocked an unsuspecting young girl off her feet. ANNABETH PEBWORTH [best friend/fiance] was poised with a quick witted remark and disregard of his help. Maddening even from a young age, they were similar in more ways than one. Competitive as they bustled for first place, for a man so used to being right, she had an alarming ability to disarm him. He loved her from the start. While it took time for her love to grow, his affection for her was one thing he couldn’t shake; even as they joined Hogwarts together. Filled with lion hearted pride, Gryffindor boosted his morale as he wrangled with the best of them; FRANK LONGBOTTOM [best friend], ALICE YEN [close friend], HESTIA JONES [friend], IAIN WOOD [best friend] and AMOS DIGGORY [friend]. Eating rogue plants Frank discovered in Herbology to challenging Iain to fly around the Whomping Willow; without the need to be the protector, Dougal thrived with the reckless hearts of youth and merlin did he bask in their glory.
A chaser for the quidditch team, a Prefect and Slug Club member; achieving greatness was his aim even if his quaking black and white morals left him in detention from dueling whichever pure blood asshole decided to throw a sneering comment that week. Graduating with honors, while his years were spent fixating on the history of the ministry of magic, Annabeth brought entertainment to life. Tightly wound with the pressures of success, she pulled him out of books animatedly recounting 50s horror movies or singing - out of tune - to The Rolling Stones. With his long-eared owl flying notes between them; barely a day passed where they didn’t exchange a glance or a taunting jab from across the room. Until, everything fell apart. Ravaged home land, fire fury scorched the Highlands as dragons cried for their young against wix in search of loot. Dougal and Annabeth dove into action without a moment's thought. Fighting to protect their home alongside CATRIONA MCCORMACK [friend] and the McFusty clan; sparks flew as duels ensued. Paranoid for Annabeth’s safety, he let his guard down for a second when a scream pierced through the cliffs as ISLA PEBWORTH [acquaintance] got caught between a spell and a dragon and vanished. Eggs captured, the raiders fled leaving nothing but devastation in their wake.
Grieving the loss of her sibling, all he could do was offer Annabeth patience, a shoulder and time. While she blamed herself for their death, Dougal only blamed himself. He’d been weak and he vowed then it wouldn’t be something he possessed. Valuing order and respect he saw The Ministry of Magic as a force of undeniable change. Situating himself within law and order offered Dougal the opportunity to make a lasting impact. Over the next ten years, he established himself as a key member within the Ministry. Years spent hunched over theseus by candlelight, he grew as noble as a knight and as wise as a king. Researching past prosecutions, he found patterns. Just like the maps he’d once made, he plotted tactics, pinned research and devoted time to unraveling cases as if they were the fables he once loved. While others such as RODOLPHUS LESTRANGE [co-worker] saw cases as games of victory; Dougal saw the people. Compassionate with a selfless drive, his dedication to actively helping others was his shining quality. And one that didn’t go unnoticed by his best friend's sister, MINERVA MCGONAGALL [acquaintance]. She spoke of The Order of the Phoenix, an underground establishment fighting against blood-purity. He’d signed his name before she’d even finished her sentence.
But rationality in the establishment wasn't the reality he'd hoped for. Instead of decisive action, he was met with passive evations of truth. With an increasing number of cases letting justice slip, at every turn Wizengamot fell to the whims of the elite as they favored their peers over law. With one being the ruler of that domain; JAE MULCIBER [rival]. In all his arrogance he reigned over prosecution as if he were Merlin’s gift. Sharp arguments combined with his devilish intellect left his smirk even the more bittersweet and Dougal desperately wanting to punch it off his face. For a time NAMARI NGUYEN [best friend/co-worker] agreed, until she fell for that grin. A blunt and direct witch, Dougal appreciated her sarcastic dry humor even if he didn’t approve of her bed fellow. Liberators, having joined The Order together, while his research skills and rational thinking were his assets; her ability to formulate plans and cut through illusions was hers. While in work they became recognised for taking down villains, outside they bartered on wizard chess and battled over their opposing quidditch teams with rolls of their eyes from their peers. Akin with Robert and Annabeth, Namari fit like a puzzle in their trio, until the news of Namari’s death hit The Daily Prophet.
Labeled a closed case by The Ministry, with wounds matching that of BOOKER BAGNOLD [person of interest], her death was labeled another murder by the infamous SILAS CRUMP [person of interest]. Convinced the tale was fabricated by BARTEMIUS CROUCH SR [boss/rival] to keep the peace, with the help of The Order, Dougal is set on finding the truth no matter the cost. Seeking Namari’s autopsy from KEIRA GREY [friend] and coming up with no answers, with stolen photographs and CELIA ABBOTT [acquaintance] offering her expertise in wounds inflicted by creatures; he is hoping to begin to unravel the mystery behind her death. With LACHESIS MALFOY [rival], EDRICK SELWYN [rival] and Jae recorded as the last to see her alive; he is holding them as suspects and keeping an eye out for clues about the night of her disappearance. With late nights at the junk shop offering distractions from home conflicts with Nathair’s traditionalist ideas against his engagement to Annabeth, Dougal is trying to focus his mind on what he can control. But is he delusional from guilt, or was that really the lingering white hue of Namari he saw in the corner of his eye down Knockturn Alley?
— he is a LEVEL 8 WIZARD & readied for war ;

Two protesters were “reasonable” in calling Iain Duncan Smith “Tory scum” outside the Conservative party conference, the high court has ruled, in a rejection of an attempt to overturn their acquittal.
Lord Justice Popplewell and Justice Fordham said no fault in law was made by a senior district judge last November in finding Ruth Wood, 52, and Radical Haslam, 30, not guilty of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent.
In response to a request for a judicial review from the director of public prosecutions, the high court found that Judge Goldspring, who is also described as a chief magistrate, had made the important finding that “the use of Tory scum was to highlight the policies” of Duncan Smith, and that this was relevant to the “reasonableness of the conduct” in relation to the rights of freedom of expression and assembly.
There was nothing to undermine Goldspring’s conclusion that criminalising the words “Tory scum” would be a disproportionate interference in the two protesters’ rights, the high court ruled.
Tom Wainwright, a barrister at Garden Court Chambers representing Wood and Haslam, said the judgment represented an important defence of the right to freedom of expression.
He said: “Just the idea that someone can be convicted for saying this is bizarre in the first place. The director of public prosecutions was trying to put the burden on the defendants to show that they hadn’t crossed the line – the crucial question of when free speech crosses the line into something that is criminal.
“What this judgment confirms is that it is not for the defence to show that, but it is for the state to show that there is a good reason to restrict free speech and that a conviction is the only way that could be done.”
Wood and Haslam were outside the Midland hotel in Manchester, where the Conservative party annual conference was taking place in October 2021, when Duncan Smith, a former welfare secretary, emerged to walk to the Mercure hotel for a conference about Brexit. He was accompanied by his wife, Betsy Duncan Smith, and her friend Primrose Yorke.
As Duncan Smith crossed the road, an individual ran up behind him and placed a traffic cone on his head. The former Tory leader removed the traffic cone, called the protesters “pathetic” and continued on his way.
Haslam and Wood had followed Duncan Smith from a short distance. They separately called him “Tory scum”. Wood added:“Fuck off out of Manchester.”
Wood defended her comments on the grounds that her job working with homeless people in her local community meant she felt very strongly about the impact that Conservative party policies were having on people’s lives.
Haslam’s comments were made in a speech in which he cited child poverty homelessness, and a lack of action over the climate emergency as reasons “why people hate you, why people call you scum”. He added: “It doesn’t come out of nowhere. It comes from what you have done to ordinary people’s lives … shame on you, Tory scum.”
Neither of the protesters had been aware of or encouraged the act of putting a traffic cone on Duncan Smith’s head.
Their comments came after Labour’s deputy leader, Angela Rayner, had been recorded at her party’s conference describing the Conservatives as “homophobic, racist, misogynistic … scum”.
The high court ruled that the defence needed to set out the facts for a “reasonable conduct defence” in relation to the freedom of expression and assembly rights in the European convention on human rights, but that it had been up to the prosecution to demonstrate the proportionality of an interference with those rights, which it had not done.

"We're Just Friends." ("Or Are You More?") IV || Iain x Amy
Tumblr media
(Not my GIF)
A week later Iain and Amy were on shift. Amy had a spring in her step. This is because the shift was almost over and tonight... Tonight they weren't going to the Hope and Anchor. Tonight, they and their friends were going to move Iain's things from his flat to her house. She shook her head. As of tonight it was their house. And Amy couldn't wait.
She watched from the desk as he brought in a shout, winking at her as he went past. She laughed softly looking down at her paperwork.
Alisha looked at het then "You know one of these days your going to have to tell Cal about this. Your moving in with him. Cal's going to find it weird if he comes round and Iain is always there."
"Alisha we're going to tell him. We're just not sure when."
"I'm surprised he hasn't already figured it out."
"I'm not. It's Cal... He isn't particularly observant when it comes to my relationships."
"And yet, you have to deal with his relationship drama, I take it that's part of the reason you're yet to tell him?"
"Yeah I think that's part of why. Are you coming round to help us move tonight? I've got drinks in and I'm going to order food in."
"Yeah, Sounds good. I'll bring Bea?"
"You can. Will, Max and Zoe are going to help."
"Cool okay. Yeah we'll come help."
Amy smiled "They can move the boxes and furniture and build stuff and we'll unpack and reorganise?"
"Sounds like a plan." she smiled
And and as she turned to go when her pager went off, she whispered "Heads up" Amy laughed and span around to see Iain leaning against the desk.
" 'Ello Love. Did I just hear you say I'd be building stuff tonight?" he asked softly "Ah, I might have." she laughed "And you'll be moving some of the heavier stuff around. And I'm sorry but I'm mot sacrificing any of my dresses. You're going to have to rebuild your wardrobe." He laughed as she continued "Also, that new coffee table we bought."
"Oh God, we don't need to go to IKEA again do we?"
"No. Not yet." she laughed softly "But you do have to build the furniture we picked together, I've sold my bedside tables and my bedframe already."
"Aright so... Will, Max and I Will be really busy tonight and you, Alisha, Bea and Zoe are going to stand around laughing while we argue with screws and bits of wood."
"Nah. We won't. We're going to be organising stuff." "Stuff?"
"Moving stuff around the kitchen. You have stuff I don't. So I'm going to move some stuff around. Maybe give some stuff to our friends."
"Okay." he smiled, "We got a TV stand too didn't we? Cause I love you Amy, but I think I'll go mad if I have to keep watching TV from the floor." she laughed as his eyes kept flitting towards her lips.
"Yes. We bought a TV stand but it is another thing you lads are going to have to build."
"Ah damnit! Oh well." he grinned "I could kiss you." he said quietly, moving toward her on his elbows
"I wouldn't stop you." she said just as quietly. Smiling, closing the small gap between them and kissing him softly and then... "Come on mate, we've another shout. Put her down." She laughed looking down. He rolled his eyes "Coming Jeffery! See you later love." He smiled softly and kissed her cheek quickly as he ran off to join Jeff, no doubt getting teased for what just happened.
"See you tonight." She grinned now feeling even more excited for the evening ahead.
