So I received my final big package of proxy stuff I'd bought before I changed jobs and it's full of great stuff (and weird stuff -- now I know why there's no internal pics of Asamiya's Lebia doujin around, her nips are out the whole time lol). However, there's one thing I am just absolutely over the moon about.
Like... just... I was stunned.
I managed to win an auction a few months back of the first Shougaku Ninensei issue featuring Fujii Midori's Wedding Peach manga (one of the manga serials that was never published in collected volumes). That in itself is pretty exciting, the only other chapters I own are towards the end of the series' run and I've never had the opportunity to see how it all started. BUT IT GOT BETTER.
*deep breath*
The first chapter of Fujii Midori's Wedding Peach manga is IN FULL COLOUR.
A FULL COLOUR WEDDING PEACH MANGA CHAPTER.
Now admittedly this chapter is like all of Fujii Midori's Wedding Peach manga chapters and only 8 pages in length. But it also has a bonus page in colour so that's 9 full colour pages in one issue. OF FUJII'S GORGEOUS, FUNNY, AND WHIMSICAL SHOUJO ART. ;o; I've been following Wedding Peach for 25+ years and it amazes me that I can still be floored by finds from this series after decades of digging into it.
Story-wise we have Momoko, Yuri and Hinagiku seeing a wedding in passing which causes Momoko to think back to her mother and the ring she left her. Enter Pluie who is after the Saint Something Four. He attacks the girls, they smack him back a bit, Limone appears with a compact (Saint Miroir) through which Aphrodite appears. Momoko shouts "Wedding Beautiful Flower!" and ALL THREE transform into angels before powering up (per above) into their fighter forms as Angel Peach, Angel Lily, and Angel Daisy.
Pluie is dispatched with Peach's "Saint Miroir Bridal Flash" attack and the girls return to their civillian forms, each wanting to know more about their new circumstances and the angel Limone. End chapter.
So a super condensed intro chapter that has all the girls awaken and transform at once (which makes sense given the number of pages Fujii was working with here). It's fascinating seeing what things were kept and what was ditched for length here.
Unfortunately my scanner problems are not over so it might be a while before I can share this chapter (which BTW has the kana title of Super Angel Story Wedding Peach or Chou Tenshi Densetsu Wedding Peach, potentially a variation on the initial Ai no Chou Tenshi Densetsu subtitle Yazawa's Ciao manga had). I just wanted to let you all know that this has consumed my mind today despite all the other crap going on in my life and the world.
Oh and I got some other sweet stuff too, stay tuned for more.

also, in totk there’s very few mentions of the champions and calamity ganon, and a lot of the stuff from botw seems to have been retconned, like the sheikah technology etc. i feel like that would be such a bittersweet world for post-calamity link to be living in 😭
yes..... yes :')
It's one of my main issues with TotK, to be honest. I think Majora's Mask was able to get away with being a sequel because they took Link literally out of Hyrule, leaving the previous story intact. TotK, because it wanted to take place in that same Hyrule without leaning too heavily on BotW, ended up practically dismantling the old story instead. I think there are many ways they could have paid respectful homage to BotW without the new game completely revolving around it, and retconning/ignoring so much kinda defeats the purpose of it being a sequel at all in my mind? But yes, I do think it would be bittersweet for him 😭

Been thinking about Bandori again lately, so I dug up some sketches I've done months ago; mostly because I didn't want to draw anything from scratch, but the sketches were good enough and I really liked them a lot already. The only one I drew from scratch is the one on the bottom right corner, to fill up that empty space and make the panel full~
I've noticed I really like to draw these two idiots interacting, which is kinda rare, lol. Interactions are hard for me to draw and I admit I kinda avoid it a lot. They're comfortable and fun for me to draw, especially in random wholesome shenanigans! I guess it's the platonic aspect, I'm not super fan of drawing/writing romantic stuff; I tend to enhance the sisterly relationship the characters already have canonically.
The main drawing here was inspired by an actual picture of Raychell and Risa (their VAs, to those unfamiliar) <3
Another thing I do is making Rei wear shirts of real bands, bands that I like. It's usually Within Temptation, because they are totally a band that would exist in the Bandori-verse; this time though, I made Rei wear a Yuki Kajiura / FictionJunction shirt, I LOVE that cover art so much!! It's another band/project I see existing in that universe!

hbomberguy's thesis is Flawed. also i don't remember him ever mentioning gatiss
LITERALLY!!! he spends an hour and fifty minutes complaining about how he hates moffat like he's the only person responsible for the show and his entire beef with the show comes down to "i have only engaged with the material on a very surface-level reading and i think they're clever little detective stories and i want any adaptation of the material to be a detective procedural done as a serial with isolated episodes. how dare you call the show SHERLOCK (in all caps) and then spend the majority of the runtime showing us the characters and not the crimes. also john watson literally serves no purpose and sherlock himself is just an absolute asshole all the time, we know this because he says he's a sociopath and also here are three clips of him being a pedantic dick, i am very good at engaging with media. tsot was a stupid episode because it opens with an insanely overproduced and high-effort scene for the sake of one stupid joke about how sherlock is thoughtless about other people's lives and then most of the episode is just sherlock standing in a room talking, he's not even solving crimes." and i'm like. literally What Are You Talking About shdkshdkdhdk. did we watch the same show. i have never watched someone be so wrong about so many things with such conviction.
