AT LONG LAST: the interview translations from the Baten Kaitos artbook are finally finished with conversations with composer Motoi Sakuraba and the Japanese voice cast. (If you haven't checked it out previously, this document also contains translations of interviews with illustrator Nakaba Higurashi, scriptwriter Masato Kato, and the producers & directors.)
For many, the interview with Sakuraba will be the highlight, but I personally found most memorable this spoilery bit below the cut from Kalas's Japanese voice actor Kousuke Toriumi, which explains precisely why he was chosen for the role:
In the middle of the story, there's a scene where you betray your comrades; your performance there must have been difficult, wasn't it?
Toriumi: I didn't think it was particularly tough! I actually ended up enjoying that scene itself, and when I read it, I thought, "oh, wow, I betrayed them!! Yahoo!"
Congratulations, you absolute, perfectly-cast dick.

straight up not respecting some of the alleged p2 characters' ages as they were given on the VA's papers bc you're telling me this is a 27yo man on the left & a 35(!)yo woman on the right? you jest. this woman is in her 20s at most. she doesn't have a wrinkle of age on her face. just worry. i know men age like milk this is taking the piss. i know patho 2 is the "hot blemishless 20something white(-passing) women" game but at this point own it. don't try lying to me. she doesn't look a day past 29. got friends below 25 with more winkles. in the first half of the 20th century too. where would she be getting her anti-aging serums.
you're telling me this woman who's a chronic worrier, dealing with chronic pain, who smokes like a locomotive to cope is allegedly 5 years Older than this guy who's been drinking himself to sleep for like 5 years.
(mike's mic voice) don't piss me off

So Deltarune is really fucking good. It's really funny, the gays are getting everything they ever wanted, and it expands on the Mechanics of Undertale in a really natural and fun way. The artstyle slaps hard and the music is amazing. It is a huge step forward from Undertale in every conceivable way ((which, if I may add, I adore with all my heart.))
But the game wouldn't let me side with Queen when she offered. 0/10

"And after that... I will proceed to break your knees...."
Is this a prelude to battle? Or a very personal session of ASMR?
Listening to Simon's voice speaking into my ears will surely kill me, so I think this will work on Dracula too. Slowly. Yet ever so effectively.
Yes this was what all those specific head tilt shots in the past were for :)

made a better ref for One
the oldest of the turtles, although she acts mostly like an only child (cuz...she kindal was for a while before Four). very tactical, practical, and perfers to keep out of fights when she knows that it won't benefit her in any way (she can kick ass though. she is, after all, Lou Jitsu's kid)
a perfectionist through and through, she absolutely loves the business part that comes with being part of the battle nexus. she's capable of keeping the fighters and champions in line without any backup and helps Big Mama out with all the paperwork that is required
and as you can see, she very blatantly has a favorite brother

A few of my thoughts on the new episode because why not
The symbolism in this episode was great!
Akutagawa's web covers Atsushi's entire figure and shows his powerlessness. Atsushi is in an impossible situation: to escape, he has to hurt Akutagawa, but he doesn't want to do that 💔
Sigma says these words about Fyodor but it looks like Atsushi thinks this way about Akutagawa. This is a very well done transition tbh
Fyodor looks like some kind of god in this scene, which in my opinion shows well that he is aiming for a savior (when Dazai asks him to die, Fyodor is shown as his savior who brings him what he asks for)
The way Sigma looks at Dazai at the beginning and later when he realizes that Dazai doesn't want to hurt him 💜
Also: this scene>>>
I think they did it perfectly like in the manga

So I'm rewatching House MD for. Some reason. Idk I just accept this is where my brain wanted to go I guess.
Anyway I'm in the ep where Vogler first shows up and I remember recently seeing that "Hate when the fandom makes awful stuff up that a morally grey character did. Like free my man he didn't do that. He did do a bunch of other stuff tho" post recently (I swear I'm going somewhere)
So Cuddy and House have that convo about Medical Ethics. And Cuddy is completely right House violates those all the time. However, House's specific criticism was "we're pressuring patients into choices that are bad for them, good for us. We're gonna compromise patient care". Now you can argue about whether what House is doing is "good patient care" (y'know, being a dick to them, ignoring what they want, that stuff), but it is aimed at saving their lives and not at making money, so, that's absolutely not "Taking House's game and going Pro". That is, in fact, doing almost the opposite ("Making patients agree to treatments that will not help them" vs "Forcing treatment on patients that will make them better").
All of which is to say, I'm not active in the fandom, but I'd still wanna tag House in the above mentioned post but with "his boss and coworkers" instead of "the fandom" asdgasjkdh

Actually the real thing that hits going back and doing SB on NG+ is Zenos' english voice acting - he's SO posh in a "this man is played by Bendydonk Cumbersome in a sad war drama villain" way. He's DRIPPING the 1900s imperialism. I think this coding is why I never took to him because he was SO evil British and I've been trained to hear that accent and assume he's going to try and shoot the War Horse or whatever. That's a guy who will yell at his troops to charge an artillery assault on foot.
It's really noticeable that post-SB his voice changes from the cut to the throat and subsequent Elidibus-ing because he does not ever sound like this again even when he's got his body back, and his later voice is far more neutral "i can fix him" evil which, while he's been beyond saving for me from the first time I heard him speak, at least makes sense to me why someone might like him and be able to work with that.
Raised by British media though and always happy to watch a historical drama, I struggle so much not to start at the typecasting the voice gives me :'D
