I have a physical reaction every time i think about the queercoding of Dave at the end of homestuck. My roommate and I were reading it and i kept having to take a moment to think “holy shit, is he coming out??? is that what we missed on the meteor round 2?”. I don’t keep up with Andrew Hussie news bc i don’t really like him as a person, but the whole talk with Egbert on the lillypad makes me think Hussie either was really close to a queer person or queer himself with just how accurately he wrote Dave talking about the queer experience, even if he doesn’t actually come out in that part. It doesn’t feel like queerbaiting either bc it bc fits with Dave’s characterization and how hard it is for him to talk about anything sincerely.
I don’t want to downplay the importance of Dave realizing the thoughts Bro instilled in him about how a man should act in favor of speculating about his sexuality tho. Not wanting to be a stoic hero of man who doesn’t have attachments or be soft with anyone is a huge part of Dave’s characterization and character arc. I think they go hand in hand tho, his struggles with toxic masculinity and his sexuality. I think the conversation was blatantly about both while Dave gave himself an out to pretend it was just about one. And he didn’t even do that.
I’m about to get hella pretentious and read way too much into things under the cut. More rambling about Dave’s character arc as a whole and nitpicking of dialogue towards the end of homestuck down below.
Future peepaw edit: this turned into a fucking play by play essay, my bad
Out of order but I also want to talk about his characterization as a whole.
Homestuck Mobile formatting jumpscare:
Tumblr media
He’s willing to talk about another guy’s feelings. Romantic ones. for someone at the time presents as a guy. It doesn’t even feel like he’s joking. 13 year old Dave would never.
And this happens before all the stuff i mentioned earlier, showing exactly what he talked about. I honestly don’t think any other character has an arc like Dave’s. Which, seeing as Dave is a fully fleshed out complex character that makes sense, but I mean in general. I have consumed a lot of media, i’ve consumed a lot of queer media too. I’m really into the history of queercoding and how it relates to representation. I don’t think I’ve seen a character arc quite like Dave’s, especially in relation to sexuality and toxic masculinity.
Tumblr media
Egbert assumes that Dave’s being a dick on purpose, and Dave rebukes it so strongly he uses an exclamation point. In a series where how people type is kind of a big thing, Dave’s frequent lack of punctuation is a nod to his “cool guy” facade, the lack of tone indication part of the “mystery” a cool guy has to be surrounded with. So, the fact that he feels strongly enough, or has loosened up enough on the cool guy show no emotions routine speaks to his self reflection. Of course this is stated literally a few more dialogue lines down, about how much time he spent on the meteor thinking about societal norms and his Bro’s teachings but the fact that it’s sprinkled in before hand too makes it feel less like it’s come out of the blue, or that it’s out of character.
Tumblr media
“yeah we coulda talked about this” says so much. Not only to his relationship with Karkat (romantic or not, i’m a Davekat shipper but that’s not what i’m getting at here) but just how far he’s come with getting close to others. Not to mention the fact that it’s implied that they talk at least somewhat frequently about heavy and deep issues such as feelings for other people definitely feels like a major shift in Dave’s character, one for the better.
He’s probably been vulnerable with Karkat in a way that he never was with anyone as a kid. They talk about things. They talk about important enough things that Karkat’s past black crush on Egbert never coming up probably feels a little strange, hence Dave asking if he’s been thinking about it all this time. He has that connection with Karkat, which is important bc Karkat is masculine presenting. I’d bet money that Bro would not have approved, regardless of them just being friends or not.
That level of vulnerability? Not immediately calling Karkat gay and dunking on him? Treating what would be seen a gay relationship as completely normal and not even something to bat an eye at? 13 year old Dave WISHES he had the emotional maturity Dave has now.
Tumblr media
He even encourages Karkat to hold on to those feelings bc Egbert expressed that they could hate people, at least platonically. Egbert even calls him out, saying he sounds like he’s being a dick about it and Dave says he’s being real.
Not to mention he kind of forgets that Egbert “isn’t a homosexual” at this point, that or he suspects Egbert isn’t straight in some capacity. I think he has less hang ups about queerness than Karkat does at this point. Or at least less hang ups about being honest. It feels fitting for his character and i’m sad that most of that character arc is off screen. I get it tho, writing meteorstuck round 2 would have made homestuck significantly longer most likely.
In conclusion: I like Dave and his character arc too damn much. I have to go to work now, i was not expecting to have this many thoughts about it and i’ve rambled enough.

Early MCYTblr Interviews: georgeeehd
today's interviewee is reese/georgeeehd/lmanburg/tommyofcolor! dreamlying member, mcytblr og, and the person who discovered that dream wasn't registered to vote. below is a transcript of questions and answers!
Q: What was your experience in wider MCYTblr?
A: I don’t have much experience with wider mcytblr. Maybe I used to reblog Grian stuff on my main blog, before all this DSMP shit. There wasn’t much of a Dream community when I started posting, much less one for DreamNotFound (surprisingly, Dreamnap was the popular ship of the two early on????? so bizarre to me), so I dug out my microcosm immediately. There was never a wider myctblr for me.
Q: What was your experience in critblr/dreamlying specifically?
A: The notion that dreamlying is the spawn of critblr is interesting to me, because I agree with you now, but I wouldn’t have at the time. Critblr was a tumblr community. Dreamlying was a friend group, predating critblr. I considered myself dteamblr for a really long time— I never felt aligned with the critblr movement because that was always Jason’s territory, really. I don’t mention it to nitpick or to scold, but like, I’m into this archiving thing, too, so I wanted to opine on how we label these groups. Maybe there should be a distinction made between what we considered ourselves vs. what we actually were.
My experience in proto-critblr was pretty cushy because it was all mine. Me and my contemporaries had a following, we were respected, we had smart things to say, we were funny, established, etc. Think, “The School of Athens.” I definitely grew a bit of an ego with how popular I was, which I’m sure will come across in this interview, haha.
At times I felt a little unchallenged, like people were only agreeing with me not because I was right, but because I was saying anything at all. At the same time, I was incredibly defensive and insecure, so the little pushback I might have gotten would bother me terribly. I was probably overreactive and mean. I was fifteen then, and I’m nineteen now, so there’s lots of things I would’ve handled differently, if I could.
In terms of my experience with dreamlying, I like what Ozzie had to say. We were all just very, very good friends. There’s not much else to it. In my first discord server, “dream lying” was a hidden messaging channel where we could critique Dream Team freely. “Dream lying” was supposed to parody the phrase “dream truthing.” So we were basically this tiny little secret society, at the start. There was no way we wouldn’t have hit it off.
Q: Are there any events that stand out to you?
A: A lot. Too many. Some are more personally relevant than historically relevant, and I don’t really know where to draw the line. The voter registration fiasco was a big one, but there were other smaller things… I was always in some fuckin’ controversy or another! The magic 8 ball says, Ask again later.
Q: Was being in MCYTblr an overall positive or negative experience for you?
A: Undoubtedly positive! I don’t even know where to start with this question. I met a lot of wonderful people that I still keep in contact with today, right? But beyond that, I feel like being in this community helped me grow a lot, like, personally. I was thinking and writing a lot. I learned so, so much, about people, about the internet, about fandom, about myself. It was such an expansive experience.
I guess I should mention that my time with mcytblr was incredibly stressful. My involvement in the fandom weighed heavily on my mental health. I felt very watched, and I still do. At my worst, I was hospitalized. (I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t mention my mcyt-induced mental hospital stint in my mcyt interview.) None of that really moves me, though, ‘cause it was all just part of the experience, and I find it all pretty funny, looking back.
Q: A few people have mentioned the account mcyttruth in relation to you, specifically around a callout post. What happened there? [I had misremembered-- I meant to ask this to Jason lmanburg, not Reese lmanburg.]
A: The mcyttruth callout wasn’t about me, but my discord server, dteamblr 2. I was not as involved here— at this point, critblr was in full bloom, and this server was like a rendezvous for people who liked dreamlying and modcord blogs (modcord was another friend group, like dreamlying, but critblr-based).
Regarding that callout specifically, I don’t know. Probably, there were too many r-slurs, too many jokes about hating Ranboo, the usual. There were a lot of callouts (for me or for people I was friends with), and I never really took them seriously. I mean, honestly, the url “mcyttruth” alone is derivative. Do you know how many times I’ve read the words “mcyt” and “truth”? Everything about this is a blur to me.
Q: I suppose I would ask-- given the current events surrounding many of the creators who were popular in 2020/2021, do you feel that dreamlying has been vindicated in their criticisms of creators?
A: Yes, but I would have said yes in 2020, because who these people are was as obvious to me then as it is now. Our criticisms weren’t like, headcanons that we made up to be mean, they were plain old observations. Wilbur was openly mentally ill, creepy, and generally dismissive of other people. Not to say that there aren’t good things about him either, but, of course this is the kind of guy to make his girlfriend clean up after him. There’s a million cautionary tales about guitar stringers with floppy hair under a beanie, whiny song lyrics, and a masturbatory approach to self-loathing.
Dream’s not this person anymore, so that’s not why I bring it up, but think back to when his old Reddit account was exposed for being active on r/The_Donald. That was everything we were ever talking about! That was Dream being exactly who he was— a young white man from Florida. I love Dream, always have, always will. Acknowledging that he is/was a whole person with flaws and unsavory politics, I think, is truer fanhood than the idolization everyone puts him through.
You use the word “vindicated” to acknowledge that we were heavily criticized ourselves. Most of that was on the basis of privacy— you know, whether or not it’s okay to speculate on people’s personal lives. It doesn’t matter that we were “right” so often, that we still are, and always will be, because people will focus more on the original sin of having speculated in the first place.
I used to love vindication because it made me feel smart, like I could see things that no one else could. Now it just makes me sad. I don’t think it has anything to do with smarts, nor would I care if it did. I think people just don’t let themselves think that far. You know, “I don’t want to make assumptions,” “It’s none of my business,” “It’s not that deep,” etc. Maybe there’s no instinct to look deeper at all. It really just makes me sad.
Q: Is there anything else you'd like to add/have archived?
A: I’d like to ask everybody to stay critical. The hivemind response to recent events have shown me that this fandom remains as shallow, unthinking, conformative, elementary… as it was four years ago.
Thank you for conducting these interviews in the first place. It's nice hearing everyone’s voices again.

My thoughts on the PuzzleVision Movie (SPOILERS):
Tumblr media
I’m kinda glad I waited a bit to get my thoughts on the Puzzlevision movie out there, as I got to let my thoughts sit a little, but I still think my current thoughts are mostly the same as my original thoughts:
The movie was neat. There was a lot of things I liked about it, like all the parodies, animation, and ESPECIALLY the villain song. But… I honestly think it’s kinda underwhelming for the finale of this storyline they started in early 2023. I guess I had big expectations since this confrontation with Mr. Puzzles was built up for 2 whole movies and a WOTFI. I Still think there are a lot of good qualities to it. But, unfortunately, I got a lot more to say about the negatives than the positives.
I was initially underwhelmed by Mr. Puzzle’s backstory, considering how long he’s been built up as a villain. At first the backstory of Puzzles being “He was a lonely kid who became a TV addict and eventually replaced his head with a TV” came of as sort of bland, cliche villain backstory that the writers came up with on the fly. Again, I feel like I felt that way because of what came before it. Stuff like the Eldritch Goo from IGBP, the Grand Door being opened shortly before the lead up to that movie, Puzzlevision originally owning the show grounds, and all of Puzzles’ powers made me think that there was going to be a bit more to his story. Like, how does just replacing his head with TV give him all the powers he has?? Now I think the backstory’s more alright though. The part with “Oh he was lonely and had no friends :(“ still comes off as super cliche to me, and the powers still don’t make sense, but the part about him replacing his face with a TV sort of drives home how unhinged he is under that smile. I have similar thoughts on his final goal, which to me basically came off as “oooh he wants to brainwash everyone and take over the world”. But at least the backstory wasn’t as confusing or convoluted as Niles’ backstory from Revelations.
One other thing I also didn’t like, and still don’t, was how Tari was presented. In Western Spaghetti she was built up to be a much braver person who was more ready to take down whoever messes with her friends. But in this movie she feels like a complete coward again, cowering in fear at the thought of Mr. Puzzles going to get them, and begging Meggy not to go through a scary obstacle course. Like, what was the whole point of going through that arc if she was gonna be super scared the next time a big villain shows up??? I feel like they just threw that character development that I loved so much away. Also, why would they introduce Clench right before the Puzzlevision takeover if he wasn’t going to play any role in it?????
I do like how everyone came together throughout the movie to escape Puzzles’ network though. Smg4 and 3 told Mario where to find them, Meggy and Tari found out how to escape the network, and Boopkins and Bob broke everyone out of their channels. I thought that part was pretty neat, and felt like a bunch of puzzle pieces falling into place (no pun intended). It’s also always nice seeing mario help out in some way, even though I wish his motives were more “I gotta save my friends” than “I wanna find the TV because I wanna watch TV”.
This is a next thing is more of a nitpick than anything. I love the animation change for the South Park section. But even though there’s a VA credited with the South Park characters in the credits, Cartman’s voice sounds a lot like an AI voice to me for some reason. They probably did use an actual voice actor for Cartman and the way they pitch shifted it made it sound weird, but if they actually used AI for Cartman, I don’t find that cool.
One last thing. I don’t even feel like this movie has much of an impact on SMG4 like IGBP. Like the only thing that changes is that Puzzles’ is dealt with, and he may or may not be dead; and he didn’t even have much of an effect on the normal episodes before if any. Other than that, no one really goes through any arc or gains any development. If anything, Tari lost development from Western spaghetti. It doesn’t really feel like anything changed, which is kinda weird considering the gang just defeated the main antagonist who’s been messing with them for a year. There wasn’t even a reveal on what’s behind that boarded up door or anything added to the show grounds.
Other than that, the movie was still neat. Just neat. That’s all I can really say. I know I’ve been kinda pessimistic here, but like I said, I had more to say one the negatives than positives. They just stick out more to me than most of the plot, which is really just the gang going through a bunch of parodies. Guess I set my expectations too high for this movie or something. Just remember these are all just my opinions and you can feel however you want about this movie.
Now, will I continue following SMG4 now that Mr. Puzzles is possibly gone for good? Honestly… I’m not sure. I’ve mainly been following SMG4 over the last year mainly because of Mr. Puzzles, and I’ve been planning to move away from it for ages. So depending on how the next few videos go, I may or may not stop following. I kinda like the idea of leaving SMG4 off where it’s kind of ambiguous if Mr. Puzzles is really dead or not. Even if I stop following SMG4, I’ll still make some make fan art every of it now and again. I just wish the possible final movie I watched was just more than just “neat”.

im actually going to tear into totk’s dragon’s tears/ memories rn bc i remember feeling distinctly unsatisfied with them when i got all of them so im just going to write some general bullet points about them, about what i dislike or maybe what i do actually like about them, leaving out both master sword scenes and the mummydorf one because i’m here to talk about the stuff in the past not that
- off the bat (i play this game in english btw so all of this is based on the english text and translation i am aware some stuff is slightly different in other languages) im not really a fan of how the descriptions of all of the tears is just a literal description of what happens?? i think my issue with it is that some of the text is a little bit too in depth, as in it just tells you literally everything about the scene. this might be nitpick-y but i personally dont like it
- what’s up with zelda saying ‘but that must mean...!’ at the end of the scene. is it suggesting that she’s made the realization that rauru and sonia are the first king and queen of hyrule? because they literally tell her that like ten seconds before. i guess it’s suggesting she’s realizing she’s in the past but... idk the texts says ‘she’s left startled by a suspicion that she’s heard those names before’ yeah theyre the first king and queen of hyrule?? they tell her that. they tell her their names and that they are the first leaders of hyrule is she just now connecting the dots that she’s in the past? that’s what the next cutscene implies. but all of the surrounding dialogue and the description don’t suggest that that’s what she’s realizing i feel like this was kind of muddled in the translation
- why did sonia elbow rauru he was just standing weird he didnt say anything this isnt a nitpick im just confused. is it because he’s not being very empathetic towards what zelda’s going through? she elbows him and then she goes and talks to zelda why even elbow rauru. ordinarily you elbow someone like that if you mean for them to go do something why elbow someone if you’re going to do the thing you want anyways
- why doesnt zelda offer to help with the purah pad or anything like that. what happened to her sheikah tech fascination from botw. not even as someone actually familiar with the technology who could give mineru some points as to how it works
- what are sonia and zelda doing behind rauru when he shoots that insane fucking beam at the mulduga swarm they’re clearly doing something with their stones but like... are they amplifying rauru’s power somehow?? what do time powers have to do with the beam of light i dont- what were they doing please the text description only mentions him using his powers so are sonia and zelda just... supporting his powers? idk man
- dragon tear #5 is a whole can of worms with its worse-than-oot reenactment of that one scene from oot. why the focus on sonia and her tear btw. i mean yeah she dies to motivate rauru and zelda but like. why not aim for the new girl who probably doesn’t know how to use it as much and is probably more likely to be separate from the king who can shot insane lasers. im really not a fan of this scene for how strongly the game sides with rauru and zelda being passive and judgemental but ganondorf is literally the best part of it there’s a lot of character in just how he picks up his sword and stands up to leave
- putting memories 6 and 7 together just because of how there was just. no fucking care put into the idea of zelda learning to use her time powers. memory 6 zelda talks about wanting to use her time powers and sonia gives her tips on how she could use it and visualize the use of it and then in memory 7 she can just use it perfectly with great control and timing. why even bother talking about her nothing yet understanding how to use it when the very next scene she just uses it like it’s nothing. how much time has passed we get nothing to show us zelda trying to practice this power just. nope. she’s good she can use it perfectly. also more awkward dialogue sonia saying ‘what a picture zelda paints of him’ as she is. looking directly at zelda. change the line to like, ‘what a picture you paint of him’ she is literally looking right at zelda so why would she say it like that
- generally i feel like memory six should have been before 4 and 5 (4 being where she uses some power to... support??? rauru and it being before memory 5 so that there isnt this weird break in between the memories concerning ganondorf.) memory 6 does not have anything to do with memory 4 or 5 so just put it earlier so there isnt a weird shift in focus between the two big ganondorf scenes
- good god they introduce the idea of sonia and zelda being aware of ganondorf using a fake zelda but theres literally nothing about it having been a problem or them having experience or like. anything. they just TELL you that they know and suggest that it’s been like. a thing for a bit??? also obligatory ganondorf’s face model rigging is fucked comment he’s still the best part
- the pacing of these memories is just weird in general, memories 7 and 8 being separate but the same scene is strange when other memories are long as fuck but cover one event each, plus theres clearly barely any passage of time between memories 7 and 8 it almost feels like they were split up to fill space or just because otherwise it’d be... too long? man idk
- ‘queen sonia needs you!’ girl she is DEAD good fucking luck doing anything to help her
- ganondorf’s horse and its armor both look sick as fuck i really wish you got to see more of it outside the memory it appears in
- everything about the original sages honestly sucks. they aren’t characters they’re just walking macguffins. they have no names and are not relevant or mentioned or make any appearance until they are needed by the story. why does the zora sage talk about getting word about the attacked gerudo village in this scene when like. they’ve all met up and have clearly. been together for a bit. when she gives them the news it’s clearly the first they’ve heard of it... but... why would she wait until this moments to give this info unless for the benefit of the player watching the scene. why does the ZORA sage have this news and not... the gerudo sage?? what’s with the masks. they’re all made of zonaite or whatever sure theyre gifts from rauru but like. i hate that it kind of denotes them being subservient and lower than him and the zonai. honestly i really hate this scene in general mostly because of the uncomfortable showing of how rauru absolutely holds power over them and despite them being leaders as well they are expected to be wholly blindly loyal to him. rauru only gives them these stones when he needs their aid and they swear loyalty too him soon after but you also see that sonia and mineru have stones, too, so they’re clearly withholding these things despite it being kind of reasonable for him to give each race their own secret stone as further proof of their pact? there is so much shit to be said about the imperialistic themes or whatever in this fucking story and i really hate it
- i do kinda like how the next scene shows you that the one rock in the corner of that first hidden room in the forgotten temple is sonia’s grave
- zelda’s phrasing and description of how she and link found ganondorf is weird to me ‘he’s still alive’ ‘he lives on’ girl that was a mummy. he was not moving until you got there. he’s undead at best as far as you know. this is def a nitpick but eh. also the reliance on link is a... bit odd when zelda does not actually know that link is safe until she gets the master sword. its fine but still. also her shell-shocked expression after rauru talks about her being in the past for a reason is a bit... it doesn’t fit her emotion it’s kind of similar to the expression she had when sonia was killed
- the memory about the imprisoning war starts with practically the whole story up until now being repeated back to you by mineru with a decent amount of bias on mineru’s part and while it’s fine because of some of the extra stuff you learn but it does a lot more telling rather than showing when it comes to the actual imprisoning war and... idk the whole thing about their ‘fight’ kind of falls flat when you don’t actually see any fighting you just see that the sages have gotten their asses beat. i think it would have been a little interesting if in the god-awful repetitive sage-awakening scenes they had actually showed you the og sages fighting ganondorf instead of just. slow-mo freeze-frames for whatever. once again ganondorf if the best part of the scene
- the rest of the memories are fine idc
i get the feeling that the japanese-to-english translation was either all-around rough or somehow rushed, because some of the phrases in the game as well as some of the dialogue is really awkward and... could have been better. i don’t know how it works but it feels like a lot of it was very literal, direct translation and no one at noa thought that it ought to be tweaked just a little bit
these memories also do a fuck-ton of telling rather than showing and it really is like they don’t really trust you to connect the dots, and some of it does come off like they either didn’t want to make more memories or ran out of time or something. i felt like the memory of ganondorf just summoning his monsters and riding on his cool horse could have been a bit longer to actually show us the forces of hyrule fighting him and having a hard time with it
a lot of the character animations doesn’t have a whole lot of personality to them, ganondorf is the character who had the most distinct and interesting movements. rauru and sonia had their... singular movement (rauru putting a hand to his chin and sonia taking zelda’s hands) and zelda was kind of just... standing around and reacting to stuff, and neither mineru nor any of the other sages had any really interesting animations asides from mineru’s coughing fit in memory 16 (plus her reclining chair that was a nice touch). very few of their movements really express anything about the characters besides some really baseline values or traits.
the ordering of some memories is kind of odd, the excessive flashbacks in memory 17 are a bit much, the telling rather than showing, the sometimes awkward dialogue, a lot of the scenes are characters just... talking at each other, you don’t actually see very much of hyrule in the past or any characters beyond the main four, and it really did nothing to actually get me to care about these characters at all.
tldr i dont like totk’s dragon tears
#i didnt want to revisit this game but the memories in totk bother me. once im done with this tho i can go read my new volumes of berserk#salty talks#loz#legend of zelda#totk#literally the narrative of this game dragged the rest of the game through mud for me so im going to complain abt it more#any time i wanted to rewatch a part of a scene i have to sit through a few minutes of bullshit just to get to the point.#these things are so long and barely anything happens in them#half of these cutscenes are just characters standing around and talking theres so little actual character to most of the character movements#ganondorf has the most emotive and distinct movements in all of these scenes#they have the most personality and you get the most variety. with rauru and sonia its just. shes gentle n motherly hes uhhhh arrogant king#honest to god. i miss linebeck. i miss the way he was animated and the sheer amount of personality they gave him in every cutscene#fuck man i miss botw's memories. despite them being shorter (i'm pretty sure) i feel like there was more essence to them. more character#listen. i understand that gamedev is hard and so is writing and animating but like. this game is seventy fucking dollars.#despite him being so disappointingly one-note. ganondorf was the most interesting fucking character in these memories#finding the dragon's tears was fun but actually watching them was lame af#hey remember those posts i made about ph's cutscenes? maybe its the autism but i feel like i couldnt write those paragraphs abt totk#ig just. ph is my special interest and i have a negative bias against totk. if you think im dead wrong about this stuff go ahead.#i dont blame anyone for taking my words with a grain of salt. come to your own conclusions. if oyu like totk's memories cool!#anyways im done bye im gonna read berserk. which actually has a nuanced story and world and characters and a multi-faceted villain#totk spoilers#bitching abt totk

Nitpicking ACOWAR Ch 2 +3
I’m surprised that I got so much responses for my notes on ACOWAR, don’t expect too much out of me though, but thanks. Sometimes I make note of weird things because they’re meant to help me improve with my own writing. This one is long because I had more grievances with Chapters 2 and 3, it’s not going to be the last time either.
Chapter 2
-All of this is pointless. It’s just emotionally charged and nitpicky on the Spring Court, which doesn’t make sense because I never got to see much of it. What is there to even complain about? It’s all centered on what Feyre went through and she’s blaming all of Spring for it.
-Feyre is throwing everyone else under the bus inside her head. It’s boring.
-I don’t understand the point of Jurian. Is he still human? Didn’t the Cauldron bring him back so wouldn’t that make him Fae now? I don’t know why he works for Hybern, he hates Fae.
-Apparently we're still pretending that Rhys didn’t abuse Feyre in the 1st book. I don’t know why Feyre forgives him for this? It feels like the “soulmate” thing is used as an excuse on why Feyre forgave him. A weak explanation.
-Feyre complains about Tamlin selling out to Hybern to save her which apparently makes him unforgivable. If Rhys had done this Feyre would have forgiven him so this doesn’t add up.
-I don’t understand how the mind powers work. Feyre is using her soulmate bond to tell Rhys stuff instead of the mind powers?
-Feyre seems to think that Spring was trying to turn her into a delicate flower. Lucien doesn’t believe this but Tamlin does? In Feyre’s head she believes that Tamlin was only interested in having sex with her and having babies? She thought this in the 2nd book too and it still doesn’t make sense. I remember that Ianthe was the one that was trying to turn Feyre into a delicate flower, Tamlin had other things to deal with.
-For some reason Jurian thinks the niece and nephew of the King are curious about Feyre when they’re snarling at her?
-Maybe Feyre thinks everyone wants to fuck her so that she gets a high out of it? I guess it makes her feel powerful and in control? The problem is no one else’s actions line-up with this so it feels like Feyre is inventing her own truth.
-Jurian and the weird twins are going to the magic wall. Feyre thinks about her sisters but remembers that they’re not human anymore so now she doesn’t care about the rest of the humans anymore. At least that’s what it comes across as. She only thinks about her family.
-I don’t know why the weird twins are the niece and nephew of the King’s and not his kids instead. Is it because in the 2nd book he’s described as ugly and therefore can’t have kids?
-Tamlin is too accommodating in letting them go to the magic wall and Feyre believes he doesn’t care about humans anymore even though she only thinks about her family so I don’t know why she cares. It feels like Tamlin has a plan about Hybern? Lucien is going along with it too. Nothing adds up.
-Feyre keeps thinking to herself that Tamlin is evil now.
-Is Tamlin and Lucien planning things without Feyre’s knowledge?
-Tamlin probably doesn’t know that Feyre defended Velaris and doesn’t know how much magic she has. He’s still protective of her, it almost seems like he still thinks she’s human instead of a Fae.
-Feyre complains that no one wanted to talk about what Amarantha did to them Under the Mountain even though they had to deal with her for 50 years, even longer than she did. Not everyone heals the same way, Feyre probably thinks everyone should handle everything the same as her too. She never communicated this to anyone, not everyone’s a mind reader Feyre.
-Jurian baits everyone for some reason. He knows what a mate is I guess?
-We keep circling back to soulmates in conversations.
-Weird word choices again. What does “unnerving softness” mean? Isn’t soft similar to delicate? Why is it written like it means a threat? Jurian is purring at Feyre, I don’t get it. It’s also written like it’s supposed to be a threatening tone too. I always assume that “purring” is the equivalent of a flirting tone so I’m confused why it’s used this way.
-The weird twins are going after Tamlin and Lucien’s minds, Feyre stops them but they’re not suspicious of her?
-Jurian winks at Feyre for some reason. I don’t know why he does this.
Chapter 3
-Apparently the Hybern commanders can scare animals by their mere presence. This includes Jurian for some reason?
-Feyre uses “we” about not falling for Jurian’s bait anymore. Does this include Tamlin and Lucien?
-Feyre knows how to use Day powers now, I thought she had to train to use those? She only worked on Autumn, Winter, Summer, and Night in the 2nd book. I think she had the healing one too, was it Dawn?
-Tamlin has a headache, Feyre thinks it’s an excuse because she’s leaving for the magic wall that day. Lucien promises him he’ll keep Feyre safe, it’s a nice moment that I wish was expanded on more.
-Fae are still using horses even though they can winnow?
-Feyre calls the magic wall a hideous presence, a weird word choice. Is the magic wall a bad thing? SJM always uses “ugly” to say something is bad a lot in other books.
-Horses hate the magic wall.
-Apparently Feyre did reveal to the weird twins about her mind powers. She still decided to wear delicate clothes for some reason. She chose to wear an embroidered sapphire jacket and brown pants for that reason too.
-Feyre’s instinct tells her that the magic wall has a “wrongness” to it. For some reason the magic wall has formed holes in it. Feyre brings up that she went through a specific hole in the magic wall, I thought in the 1st book she doesn’t remember this?
-Lucien gives up information about the holes to the weird twins.
-Feyre thinks about manipulating everyone during this scene. Feyre wants the weird twins to think she’s afraid of them even though she used her mind powers on them already. Who is she trying to fool here, the readers?
-I don’t know who they mean by the queens. The human queens? Apparently they have a weak grasp on their people? Do they mean that the human queens don’t know that there are holes in the magic wall? Also the human queens are from the continent, I don’t remember if the 2nd book stated this, so the bottom half of Prythian where the humans are doesn't have a ruler but is just a territory. It was only brought up once before I think.
-There’s 3 holes in the magic wall and are all 2 days apart, how convenient.
-Apparently the Fae remembered about winnowing but not all of them can do it. Is it a skill to learn or something? I assumed that it was just exclusive to Fae and they all do it but I guess not. The 2nd book didn’t explain it well.
-Brannagh doesn’t know how to winnow but Dagdan does.
-There’s apparently dogwoods with pink flowers, I’ve only seen white ones but I didn’t know they came in pink. This isn’t a nitpick, I just don’t know much about dogwoods. They do kind of form as pink, then become yellow, and then white, at least to me.
-Lucien knows Feyre is planning something. Do Spring and Night have 2 different plans?
-Beron was a part of the human-Fae alliance for some reason. Lucien says he would’ve always chosen the human side. Is this a dig at Tamlin because he didn’t go against his dad during the war? Tamlin was just trying to get away from his abusive family, but apparently if you’re in an abusive family that means you’re abusive too. Except that Rhys and Lucien are the exception because they’re tied to Feyre and Tamlin is now considered the enemy.
-Lucien is suspicious of Feyre and knows she’s lying about Rhys. For some reason he’s hiding it from Tamlin. Tamlin doesn’t know that Feyre’s wedding ring got destroyed.
-Feyre tries to get Lucien off her scent with lies and thinks Lucien believes her.
-Lucien admits something being a trap, I think it’s about what happened in Hybern at the end of the 2nd book. Feyre hides her anger from him.
-Lucien knows that Jurian was baiting him but went along with it anyway? Feyre asks him about Hybern but Lucien wasn’t able to answer.
-Jurian jeers at Lucien about messing with a High Lord’s belongings, Lucien snarls at him. For some reason Lucien almost smiles after this. Is it to show that he knows what Jurian is trying to do?
-Feyre notices how physically close she got to Lucien. I hate where this is going.
-Feyre thinks about painting Ianthe. It’s implied that Feyre can paint realism, which doesn’t make sense. Isn’t she self-taught? She would not have the painting experience for that, it requires years to get to that level. I don’t think even a self-taught prodigy could get there in around a year. I don’t think SJM knows how art works.
-Because the weird twins don’t care about Ianthe’s beauty it makes them evil? Are we implying asexuality is evil Feyre? She also thinks they’re in an incestuous relationship.
-Jurian doesn’t like Ianthe either but Feyre doesn’t have any complaints about him.
-They left the magic wall but we’re back at breakfast again? Why is everything out of order here?
-Feyre complains about horse riding again even though she didn’t do that when they were at the magic wall?
-Feyre being a “spy” is just a game to her. Which is it? Is she an actual spy here or playing a game?
-Ianthe is jealous of Feyre being close to Lucien even though everyone knows their friends? It has a weird sexual vibe to it.
-Ianthe has decided to party-plan with Feyre. I don’t get it.
-Now Ianthe isn’t jealous of Feyre because she already got what she wanted from Lucien but why was she watching them then?
-The timeline is confusing. Tamlin didn’t want to do the Rite on Calanmai so Lucien took his place, and I guess Feyre and Rhys were having sex on the same night but in the Night Court? Rhys never mentions Calanmai during that in the 2nd book. Feyre sent a letter to break up with Tamlin before this? I thought it was after Calanmai when she did this?
-Lucien says he did Calanmai on his own free will and did it with Ianthe. Feyre wonders if a line got blurred with those 2 during the Rite, I don’t know how that works, I thought the magic that possesses someone during Calanmai was really aggressive? So how would that be the case?
-”You are a better friend to me, Feyre,” he says quietly, “than I ever was to you.” Feyre then proceeds to use him to take down Spring without him knowing. Better friend my ass.
-I genuinely thought Feyre admitted to what Rhys did to her Under the Mountain but she’s actually thinking about her lies instead. Disappointed.
-How much time has passed? Feyre just realizes that Alis noticed that she’s not thin anymore even though she’s been dressing her for awhile?
-Apparently Feyre had Night Court clothes in Spring from those times in the 2nd book when she was taken back and forth. I don’t remember this detail.
-Alis sees through Feyre’s lies. She has seen Mor take Feyre away. Alis says that Feyre came back “right” because of Night. Alis’ cousin worked at the Summer palace, she was also originally from Summer too.
-Apparently in Summer servants aren’t meant to be seen or heard. But I thought that Tarquin was getting rid of that there?
-Alis’ cousin says she saw Feyre in Summer being happy even though Feyre was playing as a “pet” to Rhys there? This was way before Rhys told Feyre about the soulmate thing, so they weren’t even a thing.
-Alis has no loyalty to Spring even though Tamlin let her stay there? She’s apparently fine with Feyre having revenge against Spring even though it will lead to people dying. This is a weak explanation. In the 1st book she talked up Tamlin to get Feyre to choose him but has apparently changed her mind about Tamlin now? She was in the 2nd book and I remember her being fine with how Tamlin was treating Feyre?

Nitpick November
Okay, this is an ancient nitpick now and I’m like 95% sure I already ranted wrote about it in a previous year, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why oh why didn’t we learn what Ruby bought at the gift shop?
Tumblr media
This is a fantastic, lighthearted moment in an otherwise depressing Volume! It shows off the characters’ personalities in a natural way, helping to distinguish what will quickly become a fairly homogenous group! Ruby is spending her money (Qrow’s money?) buying gifts for her teammates. Weiss thinks it’s all a waste of time (getting annoyed over inconsequential dolt stuff to hide how anxious she is about returning to Atlas). Yang is actually acting like a sister, getting playfully mad that Ruby won’t say what she got her and making a grab for the bag. “You’ll have to wait and see~”
Tumblr media
Except Yang - and the audience - never get to find out what Ruby chose for her. It’s like a domestic Chekhov’s gun, but the included element is actually inconsequential. You wanted the story to follow up on a question it posed, one another character expressed enthusiastic interest in? Lol don’t be ridiculous.
The fact that RWBYOQ seem to have lost all their luggage (except the bike) and never comment on that is downright weird to me. Yang rants about gaining a “defenseless old lady,” but not that they presumably lost whatever was in the 9+ bags they were traveling with.
Tumblr media
Which, given that they expected to have a nice, leisurely, day long ride into Argus on an otherwise dangerous quest, most likely includes things like dust and weapons supplies. You know, the important stuff a huntress would miss when suddenly stranded in hostile territory.
Give us a bonding moment where Ruby tells Yang what her gift was in an effort to cheer her up. Add tension to their travels by limiting the means with which they have to defend themselves. Hell, give a meh, but technically believable line about how gee golly gosh, we sure are glad everything we were traveling with was up front with JNR. I’m sure they’ll have it all unpacked at whatever safe house we’re heading towards. Oh look, there we go. Here’s your gift, Yang!
As always, the most annoying part is that RWBY’s nitpicks are, often, not actually nitpicks. The show forgot Ruby’s shopping spree in the Argus train station. Okay, big deal. Problem is, the show forgot everything else that happened in the station too.
Like the letter Qrow sent to Ironwood, the one that goes a long way towards explaining his increase in security (among every other justification) and providing the group with a means of entering Atlas if they just show a little patience. It would be real silly for our conflicts to revolve around entering the city + the group’s cliff-hanger shock at Ironwood defending his Kingdom + then seguing into total suspicion of the general when Qrow started the Volume with a letter that boiled down to “Things are awful and if you get this first, oopsies, things likely got worse and you’re on your own.”
Or, a revision:
“Dear James,
Things are really fucking bad right now! Worse even than you’re hearing and definitely worse than is safe to say over mail. So we’re coming to you. Trains are faster than letters, so if you get this first then, uh, something bad probably happened to us? Like, I don’t know, we got stranded in the woods with apathy-inducing grimm. Or something. Just tell your people to be on the lookout for wandering huntsmen because you’re smart enough to realize that getting this letter before we show up is a #BadSign.
You and I, we’ve had a playfully antagonistic, but ultimately respectful relationship over the years, which is why I’m warning you ahead of time. I look forward to resuming our partnership. I definitely don’t plan to become so randomly suspicious of you that I try to live in Atlas as a fugitive, then return your hug, then lie to you for weeks, then trust you again, then decide you need to die for my own stupidity. That would be wild, right?
See you soon!
Love,
Qrow
P.S. I bet Ruby bought you something at the gift shop. She’s a nice kid and would definitely want to thank the guy who gave her beloved sister a state-of-the-art arm, helping to bring her out of the depression that Ruby then had intense guilt over leaving her in to hunt a power-hungry murderer. Something to look forward to!”

Nitpicking, Lily talking about Steven universe again?
for those who don’t know Lily Orchard made a video call Steven universe is garbage and here’s why. For myself, I would say it’s was probably OK but I had problems with it that I couldn’t help but keep thinking about until several videos and forms talking about why her video on Steven universe is actually kind of flaw going from not really knowing exactly how productions work to just really not really getting the LGBT themes of the show. but at the very end of all of this, I don’t really hate that. Lily made a video talking about Steven universe but apparently she really hates it when people are talking about her video and stating that it’s bad because of biases against her or just straight up making up stuff like the show creator being affiliated with World War II Germany. Yes, it interesting conversation to have. I most likely going talking about a small part of a much more bigger picture heck this small part might not even be finished or might even and will get more attach to it as time goes on but I feel that I want to talk about this mostly because it’s interesting and relatively speaking I didn’t really have a problem with Lily for almost nearly a month mostly until now she decide to talk about Steven universe and to be fair she did change it’s just at the changes kind of boring.
So, without any further, do let’s nitpick lily talking about pearl from Steven universe
Tumblr media
All right, we start things off of an analogy mind you I don’t think having a treadmill for character is overall a bad thing. you can argue that their story should end with them getting off of it, or trying to find a center of peace, then Lily says “man you know that one episode that you guys like and that song well I don’t like it. No not one bit you guys may like it and may have your exclamations about it but you know there’s this other episode that I like and you know it’s like a lot more deeper by like a lot and a lot more grounded and it doesn’t have all these lights and anime stuff all around it” and that’s where I feel like a boil down most of it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I’m gonna be honest here, reading all of this this is pretty meh really this comes across as “I don’t really like the flow of a Steven universe episode where they spend a little bit more time setting up the thing and then they immediately pay it off and I don’t like it did I say I don’t like it yeah I don’t like it” and in all honesty this criticism is the most meh thing I’ve ever read and it’s probably the main reason I’m probably not gonna read any more of Lily stuff because it’s just gonna be a boring massive mess meh. A lot of it is the exact same thing that she talked about in the video where she doesn’t like that one of the main aspects of pearl is that she talks about Rose a lot, but there’s so many other aspects to her character outside of that I’m genuinely bored and wondering what is the point of this hardly any of it is new it’s just the exact same thing but more.

Tumblr media
Sometimes when I’m having some creative block, or know I want to draw but don’t know what to draw, I look through my old stuff to see what I can redo.
This is a drawing I did back in 2008 when I was in high school.  Nicolette is a character of mine that I have been working on since 2006, she’s been through a lot of revamps and a lot of dye jobs, and I remember this being a very ambitious drawing for me at the time.  I still don’t love doing full backgrounds and avoided them even then.  I also wanted this to be a two-parter, with the second part being her boyfriend listening to music in a room where it’s daylight, but I honestly never even started that second part.
So, how about a little critique for past me?  It will set up my game plan for the new drawing and hopefully help some of you reading this that draw.
Perspective has always fucked with me and something I will say about this drawing is that everything does appear to be going to the same vanishing point, so good job, teenage me.  Unfortunately, the scale is absolutely wack and as soon as Nicolette stands up, she’ll hit her head on the ceiling.  Anymore, I like building 3D references (I use DAZStudio, but there’s a lot of options) and just trace them to help with perspective.  If you think that’s cheating, take it up with the old masters.
I also feel like there is no character to the desk and chair.  They’re just so clean and look kind of cheap.  The desk chair looks more like a dining chair.  There’s basically nothing on the desk, it’s like she just moved in today and hasn’t had a chance to fully unpack.  I think at the time, putting more objects on the desk and figuring out the perspective for all of them felt just too daunting to bother with.  I definitely want a ton of clutter on the redo (famous last words).
At the time, I had it in my head that I wasn’t allowed to outline anything if I was going to go for a more painterly style, so a lot of it looks pretty blobby and undefined.  If you’re going for a painterly style rather than line art, you are allowed to use lines, just be mindful of the weight and the color of the lines.  Thick, black lines, are obviously not what we’re going for.  In the new drawing, her face and fingers in particular should be much more defined.
Hair used to really, really throw me for a loop.  I think part of my problem was looking at all the hair as one thing, and it ends up feeling sort of like hair for Lego people that just snaps on.  It makes a lot more sense to break it down into different clumps and strands.  Think about things like how and where the strands attach to the scalp.  Another nitpick is just that her hair would obviously be obstructing the sound coming from her headphones.
I believe she is wearing black flats (at least, I don’t think they were supposed to be black ankle socks) and I want to get rid of those.  Who wears shoes when they’re hanging out in their room at night?
As though admitting that I was in high school in 2008 did not age me enough, the computer is running Windows XP with the most generic looking music player possible.  I think I’m going to make the computer in the new drawing a little more obscured, screen-wise, in the hopes of not aging so badly and obviously.
The window and the lighting from it isn’t so bad.  I definitely was mindful of the lighting on the curtains and the rug, but didn’t really bring it in toward the figure or any of the other furniture.  This is supposed to be dark and moody, and hopefully I can bring that across better in the new one.  I also want to put rain drops on the window and make the view something more reasonable for just outside someone’s bedroom.
The posters I gave her are pieces that I just kind of threw together as I was working on everything else.  This time, I’ll use some of my other art that’s already done and that could reasonably be a poster that she owns.  I also want to add some shelves for more clutter (again, famous last words).
The bed will probably not be in the redo, nor the guitar.  I think the bed makes the room seem very small, and this way the desk can be more of a focus.  As far as the guitar, as I’ve worked more and more on Nicolette, she’s gravitated more toward keyboard, so I’d like to fit that in if I can.
Overall, I remember being proud of this piece, and I don’t think I did a bad job or had a bad idea.  I do think I can do a lot more with the idea now, and I am looking forward to doing so.

So glad we’re in agreement on the parents topic! 😄
I think those people who hold what Carlos’ parents do against him are mostly the same group of people who hate Carlos on principle, nitpicking everything he does or says 🤷‍♀️ I imagine they want to be bullies in real life but are too afraid of consequences so they resort to social media to live out their mean girl fantasies online where you can say anything without any repercussions (unless you’re a celeb I guess). It’s the sad reality we live in. He gets hate when he’s realistic in interviews about ferrari’s results which somehow means he doesn’t have a champion mentality, but when he says he wants to win - he’s totally delusional. Like, pick a struggle, people haha. Or like drama the other day, that he hasn’t been a Ferrari fan since birth therefore isn’t as worthy of support as Charles. Just all these stupid things that make my head explode every time I see it. Why would anyone waste their time posting obsessively about someone they don’t like? I will never understand.
Again, I’m not talking about all Charles fans of course, just those hardcore stans that dedicate their socials to Carlos hate more than to supporting their fav. I like to believe that in a couple of years they’ll look back on what they were doing and be ashamed and learn to never do it again to anyone, celeb or not.
I also want to say that I’m sad that Carlos barely posts on social media himself but at the same time I hope it means he doesn’t see all this stuff, because when this kind of animosity is directed towards you over the silliest things, I think it’s harder to get over it in a way, because you can’t explain it logically to yourself…
so so glad we are in agreement about the parents thing too, i feel like so many people lose touch of reality and forget that theyre humans who have family, friends, that arent a full representation of them 😫.
you might get me introuble w the whole charles thing but… i agree. some (not all at all) are very questionable. i do think they actively as you mentioned spend more time talking abt carlos then their fav which ? why 😭 (ive mainly seen it on f1twt tbh). like the online hate is ridiculous- i also recently realised its really reserved online? i had this perspective that so many of the tifosi disliked carlos but the whole monza weekend he was so so loved. i was so surprised until i realised its literally a problem that mainly exists online 💀.
but im gonna be honest as well, charles as well gets quite a bit of hate. after monza i saw it increase a bit, which i do not stand for and i think overall that those people online should take their heads out of their ass and focus on bringing their favorite driver up than tearing another one down. you can support your favorite driver without rooting for the downfall of another. can your driver only be good/better if the other driver is shitty? is that the image you want? i also agree anon, they’re probably repressed irl and need to release negativity through comments.
i really miss how active carlos was on social media, im sad that i missed his mclaren era and just posting for fun. ofc we get the occasional post here and there but the vibe is really different. but yeah- at the end of the day it might be better that he doesnt see the hate but at the same time i dont think it changes much bc hed still be online… just not posting as often. im just kind of sad we see less of his personality more than anything else ):
anyways this ended up soooo long hehe. hope it wasnt too much but waa i love these types of discussions

Fire Emblem 17 Playthrough… Engage!
Tumblr media
MUSCLE BOY ARRIVES
That’s all I know about him right now, to be honest. He wants to be strong. But he seems sweet, as far as I know?
Tumblr media
I don’t dislike Étie in any capacity, but I think a lot of my like, nitpicks come to light with her.
This absolutely will be perceived as snobbishness, I apologize, but I… suspect that the pronunciation of her name is not quite correct, as it is extended by the English voice cast? They’re saying it mostly correctly to my “non-native but 16 years of study” ear, but are making it a two syllable name when it’s one syllable. It’s not the worst thing in the world — the same thing happened for me with Dangan ronpa, where most people pronounce ‘Naegi’ like Nye-egg-ee because of the English VAs in the game, but I pronounced it like Nye-gee because I originally watched the anime adaptation in Japanese. Others just add a syllable that I don’t. Of course, there’s a chance that I’m just totally wrong or it’s a dialect thing, but it feels… off.
But beyond the name thing, I heard a rumour that the artist for Engage, Mika Pikazo, was told to just design characters and they would assign things. If this is true, then it becomes clear with Étie. Not only does she not have muscles like everyone commented on, her design doesn’t quite feel like it fits her personality from what I’ve seen, and so far her voice feels out of place for the design too (and I say this without disrespect to her VA, Miss Nishimura did just fine). Maybe she’ll grow on me with time, but right now a lot of stuff about her just feels a bit awkward. Probably just not a unit who will stay in my team the whole time!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was going to make a comment about the stereotypical FE robed figure, but I’m sorry, I really can’t take her seriously when she’s that tiny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah, of course, Mom swoops in to save the day!
And then promptly gets very injured and… dies? I figured she dies, she was deathflagging all over the place, but is this really going to be it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh shit, this really is going to be it!
I don’t know how to feel about this scene… I feel like dying by magic burning is lacking some dramatic oomph, but maybe that’s just me. I am the person who considered writing a more realistic version of Ryoma’s seppuku for the drama, though, so maybe my opinion doesn’t matter
Tumblr media
Oh, the “I’m going to try and heal you” scene! I haven’t seen this much in FE, but I love it every time they do it. Bring on the “why isn’t this working” angst!

ok it's nighttime where i am which makes it PERFECT to go on about my
✨post-crystallized ninjago brain ramble and non-critical retrospective✨
because. ninjago do be making my brain go !! and i need to yell abt it to myself to my blog void b4 i go onto dragons rising and stuff. i talked abt this on discord but only 2 ppl following me are in that server so wtv (hi btw X3)
i want to preface this by saying i dont interact with the ninjago fandom at all, and i know near nothing about behind-the-scenes things or stuff said by production. this is all my thoughts babeyy (which means im going to sound absolutely clueless and talk abt things that hav probably already been resolved. wtv) none of this is supposed to be critical thinking LOL pls dont attack me. i sound complainey but i dont hate the show, this is how i show love for media <3
really the most pressing thing to me was. being really frustrated about garmadon’s whole arc at the end of tournament of elements. yknow when misako finds out about the letter. i feel like they didn’t really go into depth about RESOLVING that whole thing, like showing the repercussions and thoughts of all parties involved after the fact? how does this affect their family? i suppose misako and lloyd talked about it during day of the departed, kind of? but. my needy ass just goes “IT WASN’T ENOUGH.” really, i don’t really like character death or sacrifice as the resolution to a conflict or arc unless it’s done really well, and. is this supposed to feel unsatisfying?! because it is to me!!
yes. i know it’s a kids show. its super likely something's going over my head right now, but. it really made me think again because misako and garmadon didn’t really even talk after harumi revived his oni side, and especially after all the interactions lloyd and garmadon had during crystallized. seriously, someone rec me fics that explore misako and garmadon talking post tournament of elements please JDKWNFJSND. and really i didn’t hate the resolution of tournament of elements... this is my single major nitpick about it LOL
continuing with that thought, like. lloyd has lost his dad multiple times... this isn’t fair to him!!! give bro a break!!! (silly) (i know its fiction LOL) honestly why doesn’t he have WORSE trust issues after considering his mom and harumi and all the other people who’ve abandoned slash betrayed him?! and yeah misako really is the least terrible offender here, and i’m not blaming her— but ya can’t ignore that it DID affect him. this is why i was really excited for the prospect of a corruption arc for him during crystallized, however brief. he deserves it! let him destroy a few buildings, maybe kill a guy! let him fulfill his rise of the serpentine dreams, but for real this time! again REC ME FICS RAGHH
...though yes. i know he’s developed really far to the point he’d never hurt people like that, and tbh you could say he was never really evil in the first place but. you gotta understand that the corruption arc is one of my FAVORITE tropes. i’ll do anything for em... it’s my fatal flaw...
heck like. this is why i was really excited for the ice emperor because i KNEW that was zane the moment i saw him LMAO. he’s my favorite character how can i not tell. but in the end he just lost his memories and was being manipulated by some other bad guy... same thing goes for possession, lloyd wasn’t the bad guy, it was morro possessing him... its not the same </3 let them be lead astray even WITH their past memories and relationships and feelings... i need the angst... (you can tell im insane because im saying this about a lego show)
anyways point is. i like corruption arcs. and i WILL write fic about the ice emperor gaining more agency no matter how out of character and detached from the original message it is. (even sillier connotation)
okay thats the end of me nitpicking for now, i think. i mean i have a lot of qualms... esp about wu characterization in the new animation studio half, but. thats one thing i know that has been talked abt AT LENGTH. and idk if this is an unpopular opinion but i liked all da seasons for different reasons, they all appeal to my different happy little facets of media i enjoy :) im still fresh off of watching the show again for the first time in forever so this opinion will probably change, who knows.
really im just happy to have gone thru the whole main series! including wu's teas! not including dragons rising tho. ill get around to that after this. and maybe look into more production and behind the scenes stuff, and the games and supplementary content too. i love consuming content 🥰
anyway... uhm. can you tell zane is my favorite. because i said it explicitly some sentences ago. god he is so. ykwhat heres a screenshot bc i dont want to write this all out again
Tumblr media
thanks for listening bye :3
ninjago... my favorite piece of inherently kind of problematic but overall very fun and well meaning media (esp in the later seasons compared to the earlier ones)... kisses it

hm I was gonna post Earthspark liveblogs two or more episodes at a time like I did with RB(A) but uh. I’ve kinda written a Lot for the first two + there’s pics so maybe I’ll just do one by one.  anyway here’s episode 11
That’s a very clunky way to introduce their status as siblings but ok
Hey uh. Hm. Y’know what I ain’t saying anything let’s move on
Actually is this the first time Bee’s Beetle alt has had stripes? I feel like probably not but I also don’t know any other continuity with it off the top of my head
Gd Twitch and Thrash are so TINY
Hjsfgjkldfghdjfg
Lol at the Trans” former not wanting to have an altmode.   kinda feels a bit like they’re saying “trans people don’t need to hide who they are!!!” or something equally well-meaning but it just ends up othering them even more imo. Where’s the Knuckles pic
Tumblr media
Jawbreaker honey y’all were JUST talking about how Bee changed his altmode, you should KNOW you can change yours if it’s not perfect
Twitch that is a HORRIBLE hiding spot and also that’s gotta be the largest cart return shed thing I’ve ever seen
SHDFKJGHFKSJHGKSJHFSDJKF THE GHOST VAN JUST CASUALLY AT THE SUPER MARKET…………………
HOW ARE THEY NOT INSTANTLY RECOGNIZING WHAT’S HAPPENING IT’S LITERALLY THEIR JOBBBBBBB
>“I’m not gonna let anything bad happen to you!”
>just watches as Hashtag drives into the side of a cliff when she didn’t know there was a secret entrance
Okay so they have the security stuff but surely they also have surveillance cameras watching the front door, right? They’re gonna know Twitch knows where they are now
Tumblr media
Behold, the most useless tape measure in existence! Like okay I don’t expect them to have all the numbers but would it’ve killed them to throw some black lines on there. They don’t even have to vary in length but SOMETHING other than blank yellow woulda made some sense.      I’m nitpicking let’s move on
OUGH SHE’S SO CUTE
“Doesn’t do anything” so does she like…………………………………………have her “eyes” closed/off when she’s messing around in cyberspace? Bc that’s kinda hard to miss
Like obviously they don’t have their eyes in a vehicle altmode and beastformers have like. A whole-ass other set of eyes. So I’d think pretty much every Cybertronian has at least two ways of seeing – and like they’ve gotta be able to see things like what color a stoplight is so it can’t be sonar or anything like that I don’t think. And they probably can’t be used at the same time, which is my way of explaining why they don’t just use that to see whenever their eyes are covered or have been blinded by something. Anyway.
Gd I love Schloder he’s so cringe
What exactly is the gas supposed to do. Please explain.
Oh THAT’S interesting
“Core”? Is that this continuity’s version of a spark chamber or am I forgetting/missing something
So there ARE cameras and no one bothered to look at them when the alarm went off???? Or did they not bother bc they thought it was just set off by the agents returning bc technology is stupid sometimes and it might just be acting like my car alarm
SEE HE GOT IT IMMEDIATELY
Hm yeah that icon looked like eyes to me
So she DOES know it turns off the light?
Okay now I’m even more confused bc she says none of them did anything but she did also know how to turn off the lights so What Is The Truth
What’d he say? Multibots? I wish these had subs
HTYE OUT HERE USING DIAL-UP IN 2023 (I know it’s an audio gag but still. The implications are Very Funny)
Now I guess she has more control over stuff so she can see and use the internet at the same time? idk. We’re probably not supposed to think about it this much
*Gravity Falls voice* Ancient meme! Ancient meme!
Bruh are you really treating him like a fuckin pet
Wait why’d the ceiling break. We’re going back to that right
OH WAIT DUH it’s Malto-bots 🥺
Hm exactly how much time has passed? Bc I mean I feel like by the time Nightshade had everything put together they’d already found another solution or at least be resigned enough to not be complaining abt the barn space like they were earlier
Lol I was wondering if she was actually a hotspot

Disparate thoughts on Fabula Ultima and Ryuutama
So last time I talked about D&D 4e, I said I’d probably like it more if it were literally just FF Tactics. And then the monkey’s paw curled.
There’s a resident “Fabula Ultima guy” in my nearest metropolis’ rpgs meetup discord so this game had been in my peripheral vision for a while. I was iffy about checking it out because phrases I’d seen used to describe it include “larger than life heroes”, “high fantasy” and “crunchy”, each of which trigger my rpg allergies, especially when used altogether. What made me finally take the plunge was seeing that the game lists Ryuutama as its main inspiration.
Let it be known that I love Ryuutama. It is one of the best ttrpgs that I will probably never play. It’s also one of my main inspirations for GMing, though I’ve never run it. I’m not sure I even want to run it, as the game has a wonderful conceit (oft described as Oregon Trail set in a Hayao Miyazaki film) that its mechanics don’t deliver on. More specifically, my main gripe with Ryuutama is that it feels like its almost missing mechanics.
(I think) Ryuutama’s two main ideas are: a) developing character relationships through hospitality and b) making the minutiae of medieval travel interesting. The former has no mechanical support whatsoever. ‘Just roleplay it’. Ideally, GM nudging and the town creation phase of the game should guide the players into a caring mindset but without roleplay aids like points for developing bonds or similar, there’s nothing reinforcing this. There is, however, a whole section on combat. While the spell list is made up mostly of twee things like “Song of Summon Umbrella” and “Mist of Allergy-Inducing Flower Pollen”, pulling out a sword on Ryuutama’s mischievous not malevolent goblins feels antithetical to the tone. More surprisingly, nonlethal damage is not the default and characters can die fairly easily at low levels, resulting in something that is honobono in theory but OSR in practice, sending mixed messages. The other main idea, travel, is executed much better; a simple but elegant skill check gauntlet wherein careful resource management is rewarded with safer travels and vice-versa. A few random chance variables like weather are there to shake things up.
I wish Fabula took Ryuutama’s travel system along with its skill checks. Fabula leans fully into it’s other main inspiration, J-RPGs, eschewing resource management for hammerspace inventory. Coming from an OSR-headspace, I find that a tiny bit immersion-breaking but so far that is one of my only nitpicks with the game. I think Fabula has single-handedly renewed my interest in crunchy fantasy. Stuff like 4e and Pathfinder had me convinced that mathy, build-focused games had nothing to offer me as I’m not a power-gamer. Fabula manages to be complex in tactics and depth of characters without feat trees, prestige classes, and five different types of AC. Can’t wait to run it soon.

My initial reason why I wanted to read early Doctor Strange comics from Strange Tales #110 was to explore the early mystical/supernatural/horror side of the Marvel universe. I had made a list of characters: Blade, Ghost Rider, Daimon Hellstrom, Werewolf By Night etc. and I felt like I couldn’t fully explore the mystical side of Marvel without including Doctor Strange so I did. One of the characters that I wanted to read more of was Morbius the Living Vampire so I started with his first appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #101. Before I read these two issues (TASM #101-102) my only experience with Michael Morbius was some appearances he had made in the 90’s and 00’s Spidey comics but my main experience with him was the 90’s Spider-Man: The Animated Series (no I haven’t seen Morbius and I probably won’t).
Tumblr media
So let’s get to his origin. I loved these two issues. I mean, yes they are full of cheesy, campy dialogue but these are 70’s comics so I can look past that kind of stuff. Btw, am I the only one who hears Christopher Daniel Barnes’ voice when they read Spidey comics? For some reason (maybe it’s nostalgia) I still hear his voice over anyone else. I found no problems just jumping in on #101 which I did have reservations about since I hadn’t been actively reading #1-100 before this one. It’s interesting that they brought in Morbius to cure Peter’s six-arm problem because it was shown that when Morbius bit Lizard, he made Connors shift in and out of his transformation with varying degrees of control. I love the way Roy Thomas wrote Spidey in these issues, and the constant dialogue within his head or out loud just works for this era of Peter.
Tumblr media
I’m a sucker for a tragic villain and Morbius is the poster child for that. I love the choice to show him in the midst of being hunted by the other people on the ship and I like the fact that when his origin is revealed in #102 we get the whole picture. Michael initially tried to just drown himself but the monstrous urge to feed on people took control and led him out of the water to go and feed on people. It shows that Michael doesn’t want to be a monster and hurt people but the hunger inside of him often takes control of him and he has no way to fight it. It’s a tragedy. He even killed his best friend who’s trying to help him cure himself of this blood disease. It’s the classic I-tried-to-cure-myself-but-instead-changed-myself-into-a-monster-thing. Which actually works really well and parallel to The Lizard who also pops up in these issues trying to help Peter cure his six arm problem.
Tumblr media
I loved the appearance of Doc Connors and it led to a great fight between Lizard/Morbius/Spidey. The art done by Gil Kane great. I really love the way he draws Spidey and Peter. The one thing I will say is that Peter never looks like he’s a teenager to me. He looks like he’s at least in his twenties and that’s a common problem that I’ve noticed with a lot of Spidey comics (Ultimate Spider-Man by Bendis and Bagley is a good exception). There’s great action throughout and I love seeing the struggle/team-up between Lizard and Spidey. Overall, I think the cure that Morbius’ blood provides for Peter Parker is the example for a “comic bookey” moment but it works for me. I could see it not working for others though. Marvel was already releasing a Dracula book so I don’t see why they had to create Morbius? But hey, I’m glad they did cause he’s a great tragic character and I can’t wait to read more about him. It’s not as enjoyable as the Doctor Strange run but that’s like 70 issues that I’ve read so it’s not really a fair comparison. Anyways! This was a really fun read regardless of my nitpicking! Thanks if you read this whole thing!

Investigating Patient 46 (Part 2 - Figuring Out the Specifics)
For anyone confused about why I’m going on a investigative tangent about Patient 46, here’s Part 1. Same disclaimer as last time: As much as I’d love to die on this hill, I have to got remain realistic and say that there’s a huge chance that I’m going to be wrong when Ruin comes out. Or when Tales from the Pizzaplex finally covers Vanny/Vanessa, if we get that far.
In case you don’t want/have time to read Part 1 (or the link isn’t working for some reason), however, here’s a recap. In Part 1, I used process of elimination to rule out some of Patient 46’s most popular suspects. I’m going to try to do the same here with “diagnosing” 46 and her circumstances/situation, but I bet this’ll lean more towards speculative stuff this time.
All right, so I’ve narrowed the patient down to Vanny/Vanessa’s “darker Hyde”. While this does free up some concerns about Gregory or Elizabeth, now we have new questions.
*Is Vanessa an Afton we missed somehow?
*Was the custody case even real in the first place or was it made up?
*If it is real, then who is the one with the dad named Bill? Is the dad even named Bill, or is that a red herring?
Let’s start off with the one that can actually get a more clear answer: Is Vanessa just some forgotten Afton kid who got the short end of the backstory stick, since we’ve already eliminated Elizabeth in Part 1?
Well, in one of the Scrapped AR Emails, Vanessa is listed as 23 years old with her birthday being in September. The emails would’ve probably also come out in late 2020 - early 2021, which means her birth year in the AR game would’ve been 1997. The William we know, as far as the FNAF general timeline is concerned, should’ve already had his death by springlocks several years prior.
Also, as Fuhnaff pointed out in his own huge theory about Luis and such, Steel Wool might’ve pushed the date that Security Breach and AR take place a bit more into the future. If this masquerade Easter egg is any indication, then Vanessa should still be 23 but with a birth year of 2012 this time. Which definitely rules out William being “Bill” entirely, since we’ve crossed off Elizabeth being involved in Part 1… Which also means Vanessa’s last name initial is a red herring and she’s something like “Vanessa Adams” or “Vanessa Atkinson”.
This leads to the inevitable question of “So, was the custody case even real in the first place?”
What I’m about to say is more of a story-writing nitpick, but here goes.
If it was completely made up, then why even have the characters bring it up in the first place?? It’d be kinda pointless to leave that detail in for people to find out, only to go “oh it was only a ploy lol”. I understand and even like the whole idea of Vanessa’s using it as a way to say that Glitchtrap’s mind controlling her. But there’s one gaping issue with that.
Both Patient 46 and Vanessa are rolling with the whole tragic backstory thing. The last therapist even points that out when confronting Patient 46 in the last tape.
“…it won't change the fact that none of what you said in your file about your parents was true. The truth is, you had great parents, a great childhood. Why did you lie?…”
Patient 46 had it on the therapists’ record that she had a tragic past, but that was a load of malarkey. And how would the last therapist know this?
…Why don't we talk about the research I did in your past, shall we? Some therapists think they should only focus on information they get from their clients but, some therapists, like me, think it's helpful to find out about clients from other sources…”
Which most likely means that this woman dug through court case records to verify 46/Vanny’s claims. Maybe even talking to family members close to Vanny/Vanessa to really double-check, if patient confidentiality’s not a thing for Fazbear Entertainment.
So, with this information, we can deduce that Vanessa never had that backstory in the first place but someone must’ve. If this court case is real, then who does this story belong to? And who exactly is “Bill”, anyway?
Well… We haven’t really touched on Glitchtrap/William himself yet. Let’s build up some proof that he can even hijack or communicate with Vanessa at all— Vanny aside.
We already know that Vanessa can talk to Glitchtrap through her introduction in Help Wanted’s Curse of Dreadbear DLC, that one early Security Breach trailer with Glitchtrap’s “when I first found you”, that “stay the course” convo hidden in a line of code (can’t remember where it’s from off the top of my head sorry), and some deleted Vanessa dialogue from Security Breach itself. We also know that Vanessa is dealing with this struggle of following Glitchtrap‘s orders in FNAF AR’s December 2nd email, forcing Glitchtrap to look up “how to induce self-compliance” while in her body. In that same email, it’s reported by Luis that Vanessa looked up “help”.
The other emails— both scrapped and released— assist in confirming that Vanessa is starting to gain a second “personality” of sorts. Though, to be clear, it’s most likely Glitchtrap finishing the job he set out to do in Help Wanted: Escape through someone and wreck havoc on Fazbear’s yet again.
Going back to the CDs themselves, pay attention next time to how Vanessa talks in her CDs. A few times, she sounds very… off. Dazed and cold, almost as if she were mind-controlled. The FNAF wiki transcripts of these CDs even marks most of times as her talking “faintly”. So one could infer that she’s even being prompted (or even getting hijacked for a sec) to answer some questions ‘properly’.
Now that we’ve established Glitchtrap/William as a suspect, let’s get to the main topic: If he’s the one with the backstory, then who’s “Bill”? Isn’t “Bill” short for William? How could “Bill” be William’s Dad if they share the same name?
There’s two loopholes to that idea:
(1) The William we’ve been following is actually Bill Afton Jr., but he changed his name later in life. It’d be a weird twist, sure, but at least it’d clarify why we’ve never heard William being called “Bill” beforehand. Not even in the original book trilogy or Fazbear Frights, iirc.
(2) Considering that Vanessa mutters something after “Your dad’s name was Bill?” in CD 3, it could be that William/Glitchtrap was trying to argue that this dad’s name wasn’t actually Bill. Why didn’t he repeat himself or let Vanessa correct the mistake/red herring she made on her (and/or 46’s) file? No idea.
All of this speculative evidence points to this: William “Purple Guy” Afton/Glitchtrap, after so many years of dodging his childhood past, finally has to confront it thanks to Vanessa’s search history literally crying out for help. It’s a struggle involving many missing therapists, but at least William— or at least an AI variant of him?— admits to something the Silver Eyes’ own Calton presumed:
“…Before him stood someone who had spent much of his life fighting like a cornered rat that he had taken on the mantle of bitter sadism as an integral part of himself. He would strike out against others and revel in their pain, feeling righteously that the world owed him his cruel pleasures.”
Maybe not an exact one-to-one, given how much the trilogy and game Aftons differ, but one thing remains true: William had a rough childhood. Or at least a rough enough life to make the man snap as soon as tragedy struck again.
By the way, I’m not the first to come up with this conclusion. @partnersatfazbear and @hunting-at-least-69-witches brought this side of the story to my attention a while ago. All I’m doing is trying my best “Who Shot Mr. Burns?”/Clue-level deductive reasoning to see how to come to that idea with context clues and such.
Oh and uh… Sorry if I didn’t really answer the “Bill” question. I don’t think I can definitively answer that until something gets confirmed, which is a pain.
