ryan ross + the luckiest guy on the lower east side by the magnetic fields. yet another band i think he would slay covering because of the folky aspects to a lot of their songs and i think his voice is a good match for stephin merritts but i’m picking thing one specifically bc it’s my favorite :) and i think he would kill those long notes. nothing matters when we’re dancing is another one i think he would do really well

this is the only song mentioned by name in the fic. it’s in the chapter. it’s canon. i talked about this in this post about zuko’s taste in abba, but in my mind aidays zuko is very much a classic gay icon enjoyer. like he is a friend of dorothy. anyway i put this song in the fic mostly as a joke (saxophone sexiest instrument of all time) but it is also a little bit about them.

obviously this is like a silly little meme song whatever whatever IS THIS NOT THEM? IS THIS NOT THEM? let's lie to ourselves and each other about what this means and what we feel because it's easier. it's safer. ignorance is kind.

a little bit of liberty taken with that first line bc they're lovers and not friends and there's no "cheating" except for breaking the rules of their arrangement by developing non-casual feelings but. the rest of it is sooooooooo. ougugh. like. for the whole "breakup" period of the fic (ch5-9) both zuko and sokka are trying to deal with the fact that actually, there is no one else. there will never be anyone else. they have ruined each other for anyone else. zuko goes on these little dates with jet and the whole time he's wondering when he's going to feel it, that thing he felt with sokka. when is it going to feel the same? when is it going to feel anywhere near as good, as right?

the first few chapters of the fic are so funny bc pretty much every song on the playlist is saying the exact same thing in a slightly different way.

this is very much what the start of aidays is about: sex so good you don't want to do anything else. can't imagine wanting to do anything else. getting so wrapped up in the euphoria of someone who just understands what you need like no one else does, that before you know what's happening you've already fallen so fast and hard you'll never recover.

ohhhhhh when i say every carly rae jepsen song is about aidays.......every carly rae jepsen song is about aidays. and she is so right all the time.

this song is so sexy and flirty and fun and that's exactly the energy i wanted to bring to this fic. it's light it's breezy it's so simple and casual except it's NOT!!!! but sokka and zuko don't know that yet. for right now in ch2 all they know is they can't get enough of each other. at this point in the fic, and going forward, they could eat each other whole and it would not be enough.

father by the front bottoms

ok ok. the front bottoms are so bad. but also i love them. and this song is so good. like it's awful it sounds terrible but it is so good. to me.

it can't all be fun little sex songs. this verse was not necessarily an inspiration for the tragic backstory reveal in ch2 bc that was always coming, but i do think it fits well with what i'm trying to do with zuko's trauma in this fic. i think canon zuko should've had the opportunity to beat ozai up but maybe that's just me.

this for me is about like. wanting to impact someone the same way they impact you. the anxiety around reciprocation. pretty much immediately post-ch2 zuko has his first oh moment (I Am Writing It. Calm Down.) where he realises that he might have some real feelings for Sokka, that this thing might not be as casual as it was supposed to be. and that's where this little bridge comes in. "can i stay inside your head?" in the sense of, will you still think about me when i'm not in front of you? will you think of me the same way i think of you? are you in this, are you with me, wherever we're going?

this idea of wishing you never met someone bc the way you feel is So Much is touched on in chapter 6 when sokka and suki have their big feelings talk. at that point everything has gone to shit and sokka thinks he's never going to be happy again (he is stupid) and he's cursing the day he ever met zuko, because, yeah, what they had was fun, but was it worth this? was falling in love with zuko worth all the pain of not getting to keep him? did sokka ever have him in the first place? (he did. he does.)

for shane i can see pretty much any white indie pop or slightly rocky song lmao. at the end of the day by wallows would be a good one for him i think. also something folky like love like ghosts by lord huron? there's a fic series where shane is the singer of an indie band that i haven't stopped thinking about since i read it bc all the song choices are So perfect and i can hear him singing all of them.

yeah i could see that for ryan for sure especially with how expressive he is i think that song would be great for him. the part of me that is who i am feels like he has the voice for older green day? like good riddance. ryan's tough bc i run into the "could i actually see this or do i just Want to see it" problem... like i want to say he could go pop punk/midwest emo but do i actually believe that or do i just want it to be so? if we Really want to get into my fantasies i'd love a revenge-era mcr i just know he doesn't have the vocal strength for it.

HI. so i watched TATBILB: A&F a few weeks ago, and I have some words. Before I begin, i'd like to preface that i'm literally 17 and have no film experience, and that I've read this book once maybe 4 years ago but here it is.

ps. if you haven't gotten it already: there will be spoilers. Heavy spoilers.

first of all, i'm sorry but i really didn't like the little edit things. Maybe I've reached that point in my life where I don't f with that anymore. Like when theres a drawn house and it slowly fades so it's real life?? no thanks

the music choice... I honestly didn't have that big of a problem with it, but my korean friend kept going "wtf is this music choice" so i'm quoting her on that.

the filming and editing. well maybe it's just me but I didn't really like it. yk when you're watching a youtuber and they do those zoom in things and it's sort of fast and funny? I think there were a few times the movie did that and i didn't like it.

literally, lara jean looking directly into the camera?? it feels like it's breaking the 4th wall and maybe they're doing it to be edgy but no thanks i didn't like that either.

WHY???? Her breaking the 4th wall added NOTHING to the movie. It just took me out of the experience. I especially didn’t like it when they did it in PS I still love you when they temporarily broke up.

THEY SET THE MOVIE IN OREGON. WHAT WAS THE REASON. THE BOOK WAS SET IN VA, AND I LIVE IN VA SO I FELT A CONNECTION TO THE BOOK. AND THEN THEY GO AND SET IT IN OREGON. WHAT. WAS. THE. REASON

OREGON DIDN’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE COLLEGES. THEY’RE STILL PRETTY FAR AWAY FROM STANFORD. IN THE BOOK, UVA WAS CLOSE BY SO LJ WOULDN’T HAVE TO BE TOO FAR AWAY FROM HOME. NO OFFENSE TO THE STATE BUT WHY OREGON. THEY COULD OF PUT THEM IN CALI AT LEAST

ONE OF THE REASONS WHY LJ WANTED TO GO TO UVA IS BECAUSE HER FAMILY WOULD BE CLOSE BY. BY PUTTING THEM IN OREGON, YOU TAKE AWAY THAT REASON. i just want to 👊 whoever’s idea this was

FURTHERMORE: THEY CHANGED UVA AND UNC TO STANFORD AND NYU. I AM INFURIATED. THE WHOLE POINT WAS THAT THEY WANTED TO GO TO UVA BECAUSE IT WAS LIKE 10 MINS FROM WHERE THEY LIVED AND IT'S A STATE SCHOOL. LARA JEAN FELT LIKE THE WAS GAURANTEED TO GO TO UVA AND WHEN SHE DOESNT, IT ACTUALLY HURTS THE READERS.

in the book, LJ was waitlisted from UNC, rejected from UVA, and accepted to W&M. I’m sure you can find like 40 people at our school who can relate to this situation. I doubt 40 people in our school can relate to being rejected from Stanford BUT accepted to NYU. dear writers, please give teens across the nation (your target audience) realistic expectations for college admissions.

YOU'RE GONNA TELL ME THAT PETER AND LARA JEAN WERE ACTUALLY QUALFIED ENOUGH FOR STANFORD. LEMME JUST SAY, I'VE APPLIED FOR COLLEGES THIS YEAR AND I FEEL LIKE I HAVE A PRETTY GOOD GRASP ON WHAT IT TAKES TO GET INTO CERTAIN COLLEGES. YOU'RE TELLING ME THE TWO OF THEM. REALLY. GOT. INTO. THOSE. SCHOOLS. pls.

DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THE KISSING BOOTH. ELLE AND NOAH ARE POSSIBLY THE DUMBEST CHARACTERS I HAVE EVER WATCHED. I DON’T SEE THEM DO A PAGE OF HOMEWORK AND I DON’T EVEN THINK THEY ATTEND CLASS. LIKE MAKING A KISSING BOOTH FOR ONE FUNDRAISER FOR A CLUB THAT CONSISTS OF 2 PEOPLE DOES NOT COUNT AS ENOUGH TO GET INTO HARVARD. but that’s a different movie...

this is literally the idea that television and movies have in making it super easy to get into ivy leauges. as if some in state college isn't up to society's standards of where or where not it's ok to go to college. it's when gabriella montez goes to stanford, troy goes to berkely, ryan evan goes to julliard, teddy duncan goes to yale, cody martin is accepted to princeton, HANNAH MONTANA does to stanford.

and lara jean wants to study english lit. she never says “i want to go to stanford because of their great english lit program”. it’s only “i want to go to stanford because my boyfriend is going and i have no other life outside of him

fine. make your characters seem awesome by making them go to awesome colleges. but still. this is upseting.

you know how awesome it is to hear UVA, the college I've always wanted to go to, in a published book? and for them to just rip it away- espeically when UVA is so attainable?? Yea yea movie directors, i get it, UVA isn't good enough for you. whatever.

They had AT LEAST 5 MONTAGES. 5. FIVE. WHO NEEDS THAT MANY MONTAGES. To quote my friend "the movie is all montage and 30 mins of plot" AND I CAN'T FIND IT IN MYSELF TO DISAGREE WITH HER.

AND THE DANCES. I REALLY DIDN’T NEED TO SEE NOAH CENTINEO DO WHATEVER HE CALLS “DANCING” IN 2 MONTAGES. I know everyone fell in love with noah in the first movie, but i’m pretty sure everyone fell out of love with him in this one.

again, i know nothing about movies, but 5 montages?? it seems like you're just filling space and trying to make everything seem ✨awesome✨ and ✨amazing✨. SURE. everything might be awesome and amazing, but this movie was 1 HR AND 55 MINS. and you decided to add 1 HR of montages? WHy. AND. one of them was in slowmo. i can't

THEY HAD VOICE OVERS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE MOVIE. sure. 1 at the begin and 1 at the end, I think that's cute. BUT THE WHOLE MOVIE?? WHY. like bruh- have a focus.

literally did anyone read the freaking book? Remember how- in the book right? Margot was actually really not ok with Trina bc she's sort of replacing their mom? and Margot is rlly not ok with it but gets over it?? see how that was summarized in like 5 seconds in the movie? Oh i'm sorry you used all your time for the movie making STUPID MONTAGES but can we get some actually emotionally beats next time?? thanks.

ok this is a big problem i have with the movie. in the 3rd book, peter tries to have a relationship with his dad who ran away from him years ago. He struggles with that relationship the whole book. This is good stuff. people can relate to this. the scene in the diner where peter “confronts” his dad was CRINGEY. It could be noah’s acting but i couldn’t take him seriously. AND HE FORGIVES HIS DAD AFTER 30 SECONDS. the movie tries to include these smaller storylines but can’t because of the time limit. i’m no screenwriter, but i’m sure there could have been a way to subtly move that plot line during the entire movie rather than that one conversation in the diner

and in the book, peter has to train for lacrosse so he has to eat healthy which stresses him out. i specifically remember him getting mad at someone (maybe it was john ambrose, i don’t remember fully) for EATING HIS CARROTS. this just shows that peter has a life too. he has to worry about lacrosse along with losing lj. but no, the movie makes him look like the perfect boyfriend who has no other worries in life except for the girl in front of him

remember how- in the book (right?? bc they had a book to go off of???) Stormy was a part of the 3rd book? like a BIG part?? They LITEALLY just used her as John Ambrose's grandmother (WHICH IM PRETTY SURE THEY DIDN'T EVEN DO IN THE MOVIES). literally, stormy and john ambrose were throw away characters in the second movie and i am infurriated. BUT ALSO I LOVE JOHN AMBROSE HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO HIM??

and remember, how in the book, how the dog's name is "Jamie Fox-Pickle" and they changed it to HENRY??? where is the flavor. what was the reason. SERIOUSLY.

BUT ALSO. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG BUT THERE WAS A POINT IN THE PLOT WHERE PETER'S MOM TOLD LARA JEAN TO BREAK UP WITH PETER. DOES NO ONE ELSE REMEBER THAT?? AND THEY CUT IT ALL OUT OF THE SCRIPT?? LIKE WHY. WHAT WAS THE REASON.

ok those are my biggest book grievances I think. but lemme just say, they NEVER went to NEW YORK. They literally wrote that in for the purposes of NYU. in the book, Chris and Lara Jean DRIVE to UNC because that's ATTAINABLE. BC THEY'RE STATE UNIVERSITIES. ANYWAYS

LJ’s and Chris’s spontaneous trip to unc showed their friendship in a good way. I never really liked chris as a friend to lj but during the trip, they are besties and it shows. the movie tries to do that in ny but peter is also in ny for some reason. she should have fell in love with ny WITHOUT peter at her side nagging her to sneak out and go on a date. she should have spent more time with chris rather than thinking about peter while she was watching the band.

the scene where Lara Jean is in New York and at the party and she sees the band? To all the boys I've loved before: Always and forever?? more like To all the boys I've loved before: gay awakening time.

when they moved the pink couch to the subway? WHy? They wanted snazzy pics.

when Lara Jean and Peter were making up and it was a really cute sequence AND THEN THEY MADE HER LOSE HER V CARD. FINE. I GET HOW THAT'S REALISTIC BUT IT WAS A CUTE SCENE. MY FRIEND ALMOST STARTED CRYING AND THEN LJ LOST HER V CARD AND WE COULDN'T STOP SCREAMING.

this is different from what was in the book (for the 100th time). In the book, they don’t do it and it shows that you can be in a high school relationship without being physical. I strongly appreciate that message. This darn movie had to have her lose her v card. WHY. IT ADDED NOTHING TO THEIR RELATIONSHIP. THE YEARBOOK SIGNING WAS SYMBOLIC ENOUGH

the montage where it's a montage of all of lara jean's and peter's cute moments?? ok fine. that was cute. but they literally just took scenes from past movies. imagine the impact if we like hidden moments from their relationships. maybe they're laughing in the car together. maybe they're watching they sunset. maybe peter is looking at her lovingly while she sleeps. WHAT IF. it WASN'T a montage of all the "bigger" moments of their relationship, and we got to see them just exist.

UGH. THE VOICE OVER AT THE END OF THE MOVIE IS SO CRINGEY I CAN'T

Some redeemable qualities

while i didn't like most of the songs, "like me better" by lauv will always be loved. especially since it's a call back from the first movie?? I can ftw

WHY WASN’T “LIKE ME BETTER” THEIR SONG???? I really thought it was a good song to be their song and they referenced it in the beginning. No offense to the “beginning middle and end” people, but i felt no attachment to that song.

they customized her phone. it looked like it was a 7 (idk rlly, i don't know crap abt iphones) but they customized it. Granted, I KNOW lara jean would be the one with the aesthetic background with color coded folder, but still- they did give her relevant apps. some to note include; tiktok, spotify, instagram, netflix, notes, messages, facetime, maps, whatsapp and the STANFORD APP?? whatever- i'm chill.

they did make lara jean make choices so that was good.

the prom ask?? That was cute. with the pancakes??

at the end when Peter played the song even though earlier he didn't like it?? I liked that. i liked that a lot. ok fine i more than liked that a lot. There are multiple texts where my friends are screaming at each other. In fact, 26 separate messages.

okay hello hello so here's the deal. i cannot give you a picture of my stuffed animal friends bc tumblr is homophobic and won't let me send it on anon but i will just simply describe them. omg maybe i can link them. okay well anyway here at college i have four:

(1) iron bear, who is a build-a-bear with iron man patterns on him (looks like this), i made him for my 14th (? pretty sure. it may have been 15th) birthday which was my first birthday that i had after moving back to america.

(2) a squishmallow husky named ryan (he came with the name) (looks like this) that my older sister got me for hanukkah this past winter. he is extremely huggable and i love him.

(3) a stuffed leopard i think? named purrfect. i don't have a picture because i made him myself build-a-bear-style at the after-prom my senior year, he's like a rip-off build-a-bear but he's a leopard and i adore him. his name's purrfect because at prom the song perfect by ed sheeran played and i cried (Personal Reasons) but then at afterprom i got to make a friend and that made it better so... he made my night... perfect... and he's a feline so... purrfect. it's dumb but i committed to it. let's move on. and

(4) samson junior! don't have a picture of him either, i can't find him on The Internet, he was given to me as an 18th birthday present, i THINK, or possibly just a "going away to college" present by one of my friends from high school, and he's a stuffed bernese mountain dog and i love him so much. every time i miss samson i just give samson jr a snuggle and kiss his nose. i 100% talk to him with the same voice as i use to talk to samson. i sound insane but i always sound insane so who cares

at home i also sleep with (5) alex, who's a white build-a-bear (can't find them on the internet but like. she's just plain white. nothing to see) whom i got...honestly i don't remember, maybe 2016? ish? cannot remember the circumstances (i definitely have her birth certificate at home lol) but i named him alex because i wanted to give them a gender-neutral name and ive always thought alex was one of the best ones. she uses any pronouns. i love her.

hotness scale: extremely tall (over a foot taller than me! this is Very Important to the scale) and he seems to be a mere thread’s width away from Unhinged at all times, which i love. i also think it’s very sexy of him to still have such a monstrous way about himself (what with the roaring and the growling) 20something years post-curse.... makes me wonder very vividly if such energies carry to the b*droom........ *clears throat* 10/10

quality of character scale: it eternally amuses me that beast seems to learn almost Nothing over the course of this trilogy. he’s literally pro-isle the ENTIRE time jsjdndjdjd..... not great considering it puts him directly at odds with his son (and, like, with social progress) but he Does seem to act the way he does with the kingdom’s safety in mind! plus when he’s not accidentally supporting magical fascism he’s super dorky. i love his goofy dance moves 7.5/10

hotness scale: i wish i had nicer things to say about this man. he just....... bears so little resemblance to the original jafar it makes me :( maybe if he was more gangly, or if he carried himself w the same potent gay energy that og jafar has? itd also help it he wasnt a racist caricature. 4.5/10

quality of character scale: again, very much a racist caricature. jafar doesnt steal!!! why would This be what he chose to do with himself! but he does seem to be, perhaps, the least bad of the core four’s parents, which counts for something i suppose. 3/10

quality of character scale: he seems to be SO kind and sweet to his baby sons..... holding their little hands and such!!! and judging by how nervous the kids are i’d imagine it was primarily smee’s idea for them to go to auradon. extremely noble sacrifice for their benefit even though he’ll miss them 10/10!!!!!

quality of character scale: obviously he grows as the series progresses but i feel like jack is Always in the way of troy getting what he wants, which sucks. i like that he’s kinda goofy on his off hours with his family exactly as much as i Hate how much he yells when hes on the job. i do wish we lived in the timeline where he and miss darbus actually had that duet about their disagreements, though. 5/10

hotness scale: listen, i’m a simple guy. i see a basic-looking man pursuing age gap romance in the midst of a mid-life crisis, i support him unconditionally. also i am just Really vibing with that oversized denim shirt on him!!! there’s an egregious amount of arm hair poking out that just works. good for him! and this is a small moment but i’m very flustered over his natural Touchy Feely instinct after wen pokes out his eye... however: man has no eyebrows. 8.5/10

quality of character scale: i’m not a child of divorce so i don’t know how this stuff works, but i feel like he springs a lot of major decisions on wen? not ideal. on the other hand, we DO stan that he has sydney move in before they’re married. this is not a christian home!!!! 6/10

total score: 14.5/20 probably my favorite lemonade mouth dad, but mostly because he’s like the only one paid any attention by the narrative

hotness scale: men really have beautifully sculpted noses and we just let them, huh. i’m definitely overusing the word Handsome in this list, but in this case? i’m justified. mr banjaree’s beard suits him SO well and his hair looks so soft...... and we love the implicit cleanliness of a man who wears socks in the house! 8/10

quality of character scale: he’s about as charmingly incompetent as he is in the show, but the difference here is that he literally did not do a damn thing wrong! all he wanted to do was be civil with his inlaws and he frankly deserves MUCH better. its clear from his banter with the kids that he loves them very much (also i love how frequently he feels the need to jump/dive for things in this movie. silly slapstick icon) 8.75/10

hotness scale: this man was MADE for me. the bottomless collection of hawaiian shirts....... the TWO tummy out scenes..........the fucked up evil thing his voice does when the kids try to steal the spellbook!!! he really has it all. also i love that he is truly just trying to have some beach intercourse 9/10

quality of character scale: i love that even when he doesn’t remember the kids he still maintains a little dadly rapport with them? the instincts...... it’s also incredibly good of him to relive his decision to give up his magic without hesitation once he realizes the severity of the situation :’0 10/10

total score: 19/20 i’ve never seen an episode of the show but im really about to start

neil morris (dadnapped)

hotness scale: handsome....... mr morris makes me feel simultaneously like a sapiosexual AND a morosexual because although he completed enough schooling to become a dentist, he also threw it away for a writing career like an absolute champ. also i find it unbelievably charming how Along For The Ride he is about the idea of being kidnapped. a man after my own heart 8.25/10

quality of character scale: this is a tricky one...... neil DOES show active concern for his daughter’s safety when push comes to shove, but he also has my least favorite type of redemption arc: “you THOUGHT i was neglecting you, but actually i was thinking about you the whole time and just never expressed it! we good?” so like. bleh. but he’s pretty mild mannered which i deeply appreciate in a man! 6.5/10

major joe mason (princess protection program)

hotness scale: prime dad bod, very believable for his line of work. also he has such a Gentle Way about himself when he’s around princesses....... i love all the hand holding when he’s escorting rosie. absolutely my type 8.75/10

quality of character scale: gosh.... where do i even BEGIN!!! his whole dynamic with carter is so ideal... i was apprehensive at first because his job would require him to be Absent a lot of the time, but upon reflection it’s clear that he’s raised carter well enough that he can totally trust her to be on her own, and also she’s only sad to see him go because she sincerely enjoys his company. everything about his profession is so noble and i love the way he can carry himself as casually or as politely as a given situation calls for. worst thing he does is say “i might have to stop calling you ‘pal’” because his daughter is wearing a pretty dress. i wish he was my dad but i’ll settle for him being my husband 9.75/10

HOWEVER all of his efforts to bond with zoey are really really sincere. like when he fixes her music box? that has NOTHING to do with the app he just Does It!!!! the movey mightve rubbed off on me a little too much but there are multiple ways to show love and just bc im not used to his way doesnt mean it has no worth! 6/10

quality of character scale: it’s nice that he goes to such a Public and Corporate effort to connect to his stepdaughter! even if it’s in a way that financially benefits him, it’s pretty clear that he cares about this family and wants to do right by them. nothing exceptional, though 7/10

my thoughts while watching the livestream (oops this ended up being rly long, but i have a lot of thoughts ok? this is what happens when u wait 7 years for an ep):

haven’t heard the muse in soo long what a throwback! also that performance was flawless

hearing the whole human ep with the band like he had always meant for it to sound was truly amazing. my favorite was probably don’t you, and also human

basically on all the songs in the beginning when it was just him and the guitar or him and the band on these old songs, he sounded really really good. his voice was just perfection and he played guitar beautifully and i got a new appreciation for those songs, which i haven’t listened to in a while

brotherhood of man/midnight radio?!?!?!?! aaaaaaaaaah! that moment when he went from the one to the other i was like wait whaaaaaat? that was fucking stunning

btw i know we only saw like the first row of the audience and we didnt rly hear them but it sounded like a weird audience to me? like they went crazy for the glee stuff but not for the broadway stuff and his own songs:/ but i wasn’t there so what do i know

Okay so Ryan’s been wanting to propose for a while, but he really just doesn’t know how he wants to do it and there have been Many late night talks with Spencer, and they all end in the same “Just fucking give him a ring and he’ll love it, he loves you”

But Ryan loves Brendon and Brendon loves extra shit, so Ryan has to give him some extra shit okay and his proposal must be perfect

Finally he decides that the Most Extra thing he could do would be to propose on stage in front of all the fans that don’t even know that they’re dating. He gets it all planned and talks to the crew to get like special lights and a sign and shit like just the works he needs this to be perfect

So they’re playing the show and doing Northern Downpour (it has to be Northern Downpour and you know it) and as it finishes Ryan hands his guitar off to a tech and sinks down to one knee next to Brendon and Brendon finishes off the song and hears everyone screaming and he looks down and sees Ryan and just covers his hand with his mouth as tears well in his eyes

Ryan’s eyes are shiny too, and his hands are shaking as they hold the ring box and he’s just like “Brendon, will you marry me?” and his voice is all unsteady and he stutters just a little but Brendon doesn’t notice he’s far too busy tackling Ryan down and kissing him and sparks go off around them and lights flash and the world could be burning down around them and neither would notice bc they’re getting married

first impressions of songs on reputation

these will be my first impressions of songs, something that i can look back on to see if anything has changed and for me to rant about everything i’m thinking and feeling right now.

...ready for it? - i think this was when i realised how split the album was going to be like. it was going to be a fake, exaggerated version of what the media and people have portrayed her to be, as well as the reality of a young women being in love and happy. it is an incredible opener, and sets the tone for the truths to come.

|| favourite lyric: and he can be my jailor, burton to this taylor, every love i’ve known in comparison is a failure ||

end game - holy shit ed sheeran brb cry and die in a puddle of my tears bc sweeran is back. i honestly would not have liked this song as much if ed wasn’t on here, and future brings an edgier, a deeper layer to this song. i adore how ed referenced his relationship with cherry, and the entire song is a lyrical masterpiece. how far both of them have come since everything has changed brings tears to my eyes.

|| favourite lyric: reputation precedes me, they told me i’m crazy. i don’t love the drama, it loves me ||

there are so many to be honest there is no way i can choose just one, so i’m just going to say the entirety of taylor and ed’s verse

i did something bad - i love this song so much! it makes me feel somehow empowered in a way? the way taylor knows what she wants and deserves and is calling the guys that have wronged her out on their shit just makes me feel so happy and proud, as well as inspired to do the same. people deserve what they get in circumstances like this. and oh my god taylor swore, i never thought i’d be so impacted by someone swearing.

|| favourite lyrics: they’re burning all the witches, even if you aren’t one ||

don’t blame me - i love the slower, sultrier, almost bored yet seductive tone of her voice at the beginning. i can already tell this is the type of the song i can listen to time and time again. it has everything, catchy chorus, smart lyrics and gorgeous vocals. and the way she said daisy has me screaming. and damn, she is in some kind of intoxicating love.

|| favourite lyric: lord, save me, my drug is my baby i’ll be using for the rest of my life ||

delicate - this has to be one of my favourite songs on the album (but so is every other i suppose so i don’t know how much this statement says). this song perfectly embodies the uncertainties one goes through with beginning a relationship, particularly someone like taylor who has finally found someone uncaring of the bullshit written about her. the verses are confident and fun, typical of the infatuation you feel for someone. but the chorus is self-doubtful, vulnerable. taylor is questioning her actions and if she’s being too forward and if she’s making the right choice, even if she knows she likes him because love has broken on her before and she knows how fragile, delicate, it is. there can honestly be so much said about the multitude of layers in this song and really gives us an insight on what taylor feels when she meets someone new.

|| favourite lyric: my reputation’s never been worse so you must like me for me ||

look what you made me do - when i first heard this song i was screaming and crying because i was so damn excited, and i knew this was the perfect statement for the rest of the world to see what she was going to do. i loved how it wasn’t plain anger or saltiness, but had real depth and incredible lyrics. she wasn’t going to stand for being humiliated and blamed for other people’s mistakes and decisions, and this song is only the beginning of all the tea she could spill.

|| favourite lyrics: i don’t trust nobody and nobody trusts me, i’ll be the actress starring in your bad dreams ||

so it goes... - this song represents the beginning of a relationship, when you meet someone and something just clicks and you know it’s something special. i love how it’s so simple for some reason, taylor meets joe, they’re happy. they have some amazing sex. but it’s that simplicity that makes it honest, and she still needs to hide from the media. it’s sneaky kisses and the things that happens behind closed doors.

|| favourite lyric: gold cage, hostage to my feelings ||

gorgeous - this is truly the purest, most innocent and just adorable song on the album. it reminds me of starlight, or enchanted, or just a pure song of meeting someone and realising you no longer know how to form coherent thoughts because all you can think is how much you want them. it’s a nice refresher for the more intense songs on the album, but gorgeous itself is just as emotionally complex if you read into it. and using blake and ryan’s son to say gorgeous is just genius, and that ding makes me smile every time.

|| favourite lyrics: you make me so happy it turns back to sad, there’s nothing i hate more than what i can’t have ||

getaway car - i think from first listen, this is another of my favourite songs on the album. this is the most romantically heartbreaking song on the album. a getaway car can only end one way, a crash leaving both people gasping and dead. taylor ends the relationship because she knows it’s bound to end anyways. they were built to fall apart. the way she says dying honestly makes me cry. the desperation drips in her voice. even though she knows the relationship wouldn’t have lasted, ending it hurts all the same.

|| favourite lyric: it hit you like a shot, gunshot to the heart || this song is like a story, there is no way to choose one lyric because each can’t exist without the other and each and every word is perfect

king of my heart - this song starts with taylor accepting how she’ll always be alone, thinking she will never find love again. but then he shows up and suddenly the “love” she had known before isn’t even comparable to joe. she trusts him with everything, gives him her heart, body and soul. this song is a pure, beautiful, realisation of love. she finally finds something worth more than all the luxuries in life, someone that means more than anything money could ever buy.

|| favourite lyric: your love is a secret i’ve been hoping, dreaming, dying to keep ||

dancing with our hands tied - this song is having a beautiful relationship, dancing, being happy, but having that nagging thought at the back of your mind that it won’t work out. it’s holding her back, she’s dancing but her hands are tied, whether because of her own insecurities or outside influences. i love how relatable this is, sometimes we’re half in, half out of a relationship we should really just be fully committed in because they make us happy, but something is always holding us back.

|| favourite lyrics: i’d kiss you as the lights went out, swaying as the room burned down, i’d hold you as the water rushes in, if i could dance with you again ||

dress - i love how unapologetic she sings about sex. she’s 27 for gods sake, she should feel free to sing about whatever the hell she wants without people judging her. but despite being about sex, there’s love in this song, particularly the bridge and taylor captures that so perfectly. the sexual attraction is overwhelming, but so is the emotionally fulfillment the relationship brings.

|| favourite lyric: all of this silence and patience, pining and desperately waiting ||

this is why we can’t have nice things - i’m honestly so amazed at taylor’s ability to write the most cut-throat lyrics and sing them in the sweetest tone. the beginning of the song reminds of of a disney song, something sweet and fun, oh but honey you’re in for a ride. this entire song is sang in an almost joking manner, with even a tut in there, but the lyrics are all so revealing and true. i love it so much, taylor’s done with the lies and is here to write her own story. because guess what? they fucking asked for it when they fucked her over again and again.

|| favourite lyric: i took an axe to a mended fence ||

call it what you want - this was probably my favourite of the four initial singles released. i absolutely loved how well it narrated her life at that point. everything had crumbled on her, but there was just one thing keeping her grounded and making the toughest of times bright again. taylor is so damn in love and you can hear the joy and gratefulness in her writing, voice and melody.

|| favourite lyrics: and i know i make the same mistakes every time, bridges burn, i never learn, at least i did one thing right ||

new year’s day - this song is everything. it makes my heart flutter and my eyes water and just feel so warm and comforted inside. the piano is soft, complimenting her beautiful voice perfectly, allowing the emotions of the lyrics and her voice to just shine in the most wonderful way possible. how personal the song is makes it intimate, she’s singing for us and herself, no one else. it’s the perfect closing track. despite everything terrible that has happened to her, all the anger and vengeance, all that is left at the end is her happiness and love she feels for this incredible man. i’m so happy for her, and i want only the best for her and this love because this is the type of love that should thrive and blossom into the far future.

wow this has been a journey. it’s now past 3am and i’m not sure if any of my sentences make sense, i just wanted to get this down while it’s still fresh on my mind. i guess all there is to it is how proud i am of taylor, this album and everything she has been through and achieved because her strength is presented in every word she wrote and sang. each song is a masterpiece, and each sentence is a piece of this puzzle. it was important to pick one favourite lyric per song so i just chose the one that stood out the most while i was writing it, ask me again tomorrow and it would have probably changed.

Everyone actually loved V’s version of HSM so much, itbecame the script for the rest of the performances

Summary: Someone asks Dan if he is in love with Harry Styles. He's not though - he's in love with Phil.

A/N: I am going to be honest I don't really know what this is so I hope someone enjoys it? Idk it just feels a little weirdly written to me but i don't know how write it not awkwardly? Does this make sense? No? That's fair. Anyways, enjoy this piece of shit or maybe don't enjoy it and end up hating me bc it's totally your decision. Happy Easter, lol.

Dan was doing a live show like he did every Thursday. He enjoyed doing them - who would say no to getting to ramble for an hour while people paid attention? - and his viewers enjoyed them as well. So far, it was going well. He had already said the politically correct things that everyone would gif later on and he was now rambling on about Harry Styles' new song, Sign Of The Times.

"You see, it's really soft yet still exciting and I think that's why so many people like it." He said, trying to figure out the best way to put it. "The lyrics are soothing and the instruments in the background bring it together really well. Plus Harry Styles' voice is incredible, obvi, so that's probably why it's such a big hit. I remember I first heard it and I practically had an orgasm it was so good. Like an ear-orgasm? And eargasm? Thank God that's not a thing."

He scanned the chat, looking for a comment to carry on the talk. "'Are you in love with him or something?' says Alyssa." He laughed a little before sitting up straighter in his chair. "No," He said, still laughing a little. "I'm in love with somebody else." Dan knew that what he was saying was probably going to drive them all mad. He kind of looked forward to the shit show that was sure to be in his Instagram comments and Tumblr mentions later. He knew Phil probably wouldn't mind when he found out later, they had both agreed that they wanted to be a bit more open.

"'Who are you in love with?' Asks Ryan. Haven't you been paying attention to my content? I thought it was pretty obvious."

It just so happened that Phil walked into the hall at that second. "Phil!" Dan yelled, startling Phil. "Come and talk for a second." Phil rolled his eyes but otherwise obliged, walking over to where Dan's computer was set up.

"So this is where the magic happens? Sad." Phil said, kneeling down to the floor so he could be eye level with the laptop.

Dan laughed, gently smacking Phil on the back. "Why are you being so sassy today? They don't even know what you're referencing right now."

"It's an inside joke, I couldn't tell you or I would have to kill you all or sell you to the aliens."

"Nobody wants that." Dan chimed in.

"'Okay but does this person know you're in love with them?' Hannah asks." Phil read from the chat, giving Dan a puzzled look. "What are they talking about? You're in love with someone?"

Dan rolled his eyes. Of course Phil would pretend that they weren't together. It was the perfect opportunity to trick their fans and freak everybody out. Two could play at that game.

"Well, Phil, I was hoping you knew that much already, I told you everything this morning," Dan said, looking him in the eye. "Jacob, remember? He took me to his place last night and we told each other our first 'I love you's' and then we had super hot dirty se-" Phil clamped a hand over his mouth, laughing. Dan joined in laughing, feeling his cheeks flush. Phil removed his hand and leaned into Dan instead.

"You're ridiculous and I hope you know that," Phil said. His eyes were scanning the chat again. "Maria asks if Jacob's real name is Phil."

Dan giggled, nodding. "I guess you guys figured it all out. Good job, it was super hard." Phil let out a snort and stood up, kissing Dan on his temple.

"But seriously, I'm like super in love and I'm the happiest I've been in a long while." He smiled goofily into the camera.
